
Crystal Renee (Readle) Schindler passed away unexpectedly at her home in Hoxie, Kansas, on Saturday, August 8, 2026. Crystal was born to Robert Edward and Marsha Renee (Hadley) Readle in Aurora, Colorado, on July 6, 1982. She grew up in Norton, Kansas, where she attended school and graduated from Norton High School. Crystal continued her education at Colby Community College, where she earned her Practical Nursing Degree. Following graduation, Crystal worked as a traveling LPN, a career that allowed her to use her caring nature and nursing skills while experiencing different places and communities.
Crystal and Bo Schindler were united in marriage on June 27, 2014, in Hays, Kansas. The couple made their home in Cawker City, Kansas, before moving to Hoxie, Kansas, where they now reside.
Crystal had a deep love for animals and enjoyed caring for them. While living in Cawker City, she had chickens that became some of her favorite companions. She loved riding horses whenever she had the opportunity. Crystal also enjoyed crocheting and reading and was always interested in trying something new. More recently, Crystal developed a passion for baking bread. She was working on perfecting the art of making sourdough bread and had even begun making her own butter. She enjoyed keeping busy with projects and discovering new things to learn and create.
Left to cherish Crystal’s memory are her husband, Bo Schindler of Hoxie; her parents, Robert and Renee Readle of Hays, Kansas; her children, John Stanton (Ailee) of Wichita, Kansas; Madison Kaltenbach (Garrett) of Mullinville, Kansas; Julie Schindler (Brendan Lee) of Holdrege, Nebraska; Charlie Schindler of Calloway, Kentucky; and Austin and Jocelyn LeAnna of Agra, Kansas; Grandchilden, Oliver and Hadley Stanton and Brailynn and Walker Jon Kaltenbach: her brother, Robert Readle (Cari) of Hays, Kansas; nieces and nephew, Jaylee, Aly, and Robbie Readle; Grandparents, Linda and Gary Stivers; and numerous Aunts, Uncles and Cousins.
She was preceded in death by her great-grandmothers, Madelyn Stamper and Vera Jones; and grandparents, Marilyn and Marshall Hadley and Robert Lucas Readle.
Crystal will be remembered by her family and friends for her love of animals, her many interests, her willingness to try new things, and the special memories she created with those she loved.
A private family service was planned on Friday, August 14, 2026, at 2:30 p.m. at Mickey-Leopold Funeral Home in Hoxie, Kansas. Memorials are suggested to the Crystal Renee Schindler Memorial and may be sent in care of Mickey-Leopold Funeral Home, P.O. Box 987, Hoxie, Kansas 67740.
