Patricia Corbin passed away June 26, 2026, at Trego Lemke Memorial Hospital in the Long-Term Care Unit in WaKeeney, Kansas.
She was born in Abilene, Kansas to Earl Sexton and Nellie Huckstead on August 14, 1934. She graduated from Hays High School in 1952 and married her high school sweetheart, Marvin Straily that same year. They built a home in Yocemento and raised five children there.
In 1981 Pat moved to Orange, Texas where she enjoyed the beach and her newfound freedom. She bought a restaurant called “Pat’s Corner” on the beach at Boliver Peninsula. This is where she met Cecil (Sandy) Corbin, they wed in 1986 and were happily married for 21 years until his death in 2003. It was then she decided to return to her roots and move back to Kansas and lived in Hays until her death in June of 2026.
Pat volunteered at the Hays Public Library for over 20 years and at The Cancer Council of Ellis County for many years as well. She loved to travel; she was an avid reader and loved collecting unique items. Her large collection of “Hear No Evil, See No Evil, Speak No Evil” was once displayed at the Hays Public Library.
She was preceded by Marvin Straily, Cecil Corbin, and Robbie D. Straily, her son from Rogue River, OR.
Survivors include Tim Straily, son of Hays, KS, Lucy Straily, daughter in law of Manhattan, KS, Ben Straily, son and partner Jane Timmerman of Shawnee, CO, Amy Straily, daughter of Lynchburg, VA, and Jo Ann Koerner, best friend of 76 years from Hays, KS.
She has seven grandchildren: Shana and Paul Arnhold from Lenexa, KS, Michael and Anne Straily of Roswell, GA, Bryan and Stephanie Sander of Novato, CA, Cara Ann and Keith Brown of Morrison, CO, Jordan and Will Brandon of Roanoke, VA, MaCayla Straily and partner Aaron Knight of Nashville, TN, and Kaitlyn Straily from Cooksville, TN. She also has nine great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Her Life will be held in Hays in late September 2026. Details will be published later.
In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to: The Hays Public Library, and/or The Cancer Council of Ellis County, in care of the funeral chapel.
