She was born July 19, 1923 in Logan, the eighth child of John and Martha (Vielguth) Wallgren.&nbsp;She received her basic education at the Rural Brown School south of Logan and attended High School in Webster, graduating in 1941.&nbsp;She married John W. Hance of Webster.&nbsp;They later divorced.&nbsp;Mildred was a school teacher, cook at Fort Hays State University, and a dietician at the Hadley Hospital Cafeteria until her retirement.&nbsp;She was baptized, attended the Church of the Nazarene in Hays, and throughout the years was a faithful Christian in word, deed and life.&nbsp;Truly her life was a demonstration of a living faith and an utmost confidence in God, trusting His Divine Leadership in many of the trying experiences of life.&nbsp;She enjoyed fishing, garage sales, completing crossword puzzles, and spending time with her grandchildren. Survivors include her daughter Beverly Fross and husband John “Cooke” of Hays, two great grandchildren; Hayley Gottschalk and husband Derek of Gorham, and Tyler Fross and wife Justine of Pratt, and five great-great grandchildren; Skylar Anderson, Leigha Anderson, Lilly Fross, Oliver Fross, and Clark Fross. She was preceded in death by her parents, a grandson; Monty Fross, two brothers; Calvin Wallgren and Junior Wallgren, six sisters; Alpha McCue, Hazel Schooler, Gladys McCombs, Ann Nelson, Louise Nelson, and Inez Walters, and many other relatives and friends.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Funeral services will be at 2:30 pm on Monday, November 25, 2019 at the Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home with Pastor Jason Murray officiating.&nbsp;Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery.&nbsp;The family will receive friends from 1:30 pm until service time on Monday at the funeral home.&nbsp;Memorials are suggested to the ARC of Central Plains Thrift Shop.&nbsp;Condolences and memories of Mildred may be shared with the family at www.haysmemorial.com

She was born May 31, 1924, in the family home, Ada, Kansas. She was the second child of Alfred “Barney” and Hazel Belle (Jones) Karns. She grew up with her siblings: Roger Max, who died at 15 of a burst appendix, Cheryl and Jim. Following high school, LaDonna attended cosmetology school in Salina and landed her first job in Plainville. In 1942, at a USO sponsored dance, her fun-loving manner and beauty attracted the admiring eye of an Army Air Corps pilot, George Hensley of Zurich. They were united in marriage August 6, 1944 in Salina. It is reported that as they were leaving the ceremony, LaDonna’s dad took George by the arm and said, “You better take good care of her.” George held true to his promise. The couple were blessed with two children: Mitchell “Mitch” and Marcia. The sudden loss of George was devastating but the loss of her only son, Mitch, was the most difficult and nearly unbearable thing for this loving mother, especially since he left this life on her birthday. Before his passing he would often call his mother to visit and ask if she was “butterflying” which meant that she was often embroidering squares for a butterfly patterned quilt. For this reason, LaDonna cherished seeing a butterfly or receiving a butterfly gift. She was appointed to the Dawson Place Board of Directors when it opened in 1964. In 1977, she resigned from the board and was hired as business manager and bookkeeper. In 1978, she became the Administrator of Dawson Place, retiring in 1997. She again became a board member until her passing. LaDonna enjoyed bridge clubs as well as being on a winning ladies’ bowling team. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and an active member of the Hill City Christian Church. Not only will she be remembered as an accomplished strong, caring businesswoman, sister and friend, but more importantly a loving, fun, amazing grandmother, who had no limits to what she was willing to do for her children and grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her husband and son; sister Cheryl and brother Roger Max. She is survived by her brother Jim Karns of Plainville; her daughter, Marcia (Tim) Pyle of Hutchinson; daughter-in-law Brenda Hensley, Gallatin, Missouri; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Joan was born July 26, 1934 in Logan County, KS to Harold Lee and Mary Elizabeth (Sullivan) Baehler.&nbsp;She was one of three children.&nbsp;She attended country school in Wallace County, and attended High School in Sharon Springs up through the 10th grade.&nbsp; On November 10, 1951 she married Forest Dean Harrison at the Methodist Church in Sharon Springs.&nbsp;To this union, two daughters, Sherrel and Sandra were born.&nbsp; Joan was a bus driver and a rancher’s wife, helping her husband around the ranch and raising a family. She took great pride in the appearance of the home place enjoying mowing in the summer, and always kept the buildings and corrals freshly painted. She also cherished her grandsons watching them mature and start families of their own. Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband and one great grandchild. She is survived by her daughters Sherrel Harrison (Don Barnett) of Sharon Springs, and Sandra Knudsen (J.R.) of Kearney, Missouri; four grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, and two siblings Harold Vernon Baehler and Barbara Akers of Sharon Springs. Funeral services for Joan were held on Monday, November 25, 2019 at 10:00 AM MT at the United Methodist Church in Sharon Springs with Pastor Galen Crippen and Reverend Paul McNall officiating.&nbsp;Burial followed in the Wallace Cemetery, Wallace, KS. She was born on February 28, 1930, to Joseph M. and Albina (Kuhn) Rome.&nbsp;She married Donald F. Gross on May 1, 1954, in Victoria, Kansas.&nbsp;He preceded her in death on June 21, 1994. Rita was employed at The Farmers National Bank in Victoria upon graduating from high school and continued there until the birth of her first child.&nbsp;She was an excellent seamstress, sewing clothes for her children and extended family.&nbsp;Her holiday crafts are now a treasure for her family.&nbsp;She was an avid reader in her leisure time. Rita valued her faith, family, and neighbor.&nbsp;In her later years, her rosary beads were always in her hands.&nbsp;She cherished her family and was so proud of their accomplishments.&nbsp;She made life-long friends of her many neighbors whom she was among the first to welcome to the neighborhood.&nbsp; She was a volunteer at St. Fidelis Parish gathering updated information for the 3rd edition of “Die Herzoger” and was assistant editor of the parish cookbook, “Sharing Our Best”, which has sold thousands of copies and is still in demand.&nbsp;She was a member of The Basilica of St. Fidelis, St. Fidelis Christian Mother/Altar Society, Daughters of Isabella and a Victoria Alumni Association newsletter committee member.&nbsp;She was a 1947 Victoria High School graduate. Survivors include her daughter, Janet Trombley and husband, Don, Newtown, PA; her son, Michael Gross and wife, Virginia, Lake Quivira, KS; a granddaughter, Lauren Smith and husband, Bryan, Littleton, CO; a grandson, Bret Gross and wife, Kelsey, Lenexa, KS; a grandson, Ryan Trombley, Chicago, IL; grandsons, Sam Gross, New York, NY; and Will Gross, Austin, TX; and two great-grandchildren, Gwen Gross and Perry Smith. <img src="https://media.eaglewebservices.com/public/2019/11/1574433011142.jpeg">Lorraine Coulter, 87, passed away at the Gove County Long Term Care, Quinter, Kansas, on Tuesday, November 19, 2019. She is home in the arms of her loving Lord and Savior. Lorraine began her earthly life on June 25, 1932. She was born at the home place in rural Sheridan County near the Lucerne area to Paul and Ruth (Mowry) Mills. Lorraine was the only girl of four children. Along with her three brothers, she grew up on the family farm and lived there until her marriage. Lorraine attended Bow Creek School for the first eight years and attended Sheridan Community High School in Hoxie, Kansas, graduating with the class of 1950. When attending high school, Lorraine stayed in town during the week and went home on the weekends. Lorraine Mills and Edwin “Ed” Coulter were high school sweethearts. Ed was drafted into the service. During the time Ed was serving in the army, Lorraine went to Amarillo, Texas to help out with an uncle’s children. She and Ed continued their courtship, and one day in late May, Lorraine boarded the bus to go visit Ed. Much to everyone’s surprise, the couple got married on June 2, 1952 in Rockingham, North Carolina in the Methodist Parsonage. This was the beginning of happy married life. They were blessed with three children, Janet, Chuck and Tim. Lorraine and Ed lived most of their life on the farm until moving to town upon retirement. Lorraine was a loving wife, and worked hard raising her children, and helping Ed with the farm. She planted plentiful gardens and canned the produce to help feed her family. She was a great cook and enjoyed sharing what she had with her family and friends. She would give credit to everyone else for the amazing meals she prepared. There was no one more welcoming and accepting than Lorraine. She would always claim she was too shy to talk to people, but in reality, she was just giving everyone around her time to shine. She was quick to give praise to others and laugh at everyone’s joke. There was no one more generous and loving to those around her than Lorraine. Lorraine leaves behind her daughter, Janet Dunbar and husband Ron of Menahga, Minnesota; sons, Chuck Coulter and wife Lisa of Tishomingo, Oklahoma; Tim Coulter and wife Lori of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; brother, Lloyd Mills of Houston, Texas; sister-in- law JoAnn Mauck and husband Laverne of Hoxie; grandchildren, Corene Smith and husband Brian, C.J. Dunbar and wife Carolynn, William Dunbar, Christopher Coulter, Michael Coulter, Breck Coulter, and Malone Coulter; great-grandchildren, Grace Smith, Eden Smith, and soon to be born, baby boy Smith; nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. She has gone to her heavenly home to join her loving husband, Edwin “Ed” Coulter; parents, Paul and Ruth Mills; grandson, Braden Bertelli; brothers, Albert Mills and Norman Mills; and sisters-in-law, Nadine Mills and Veryl Mills; brothers-in-law Elvin Coulter, Elvis Coulter, and sisters-in-law Elva Coulter, Wanda Coulter, Irene Coulter, and Ann Coulter. Lorraine was a kind, gentle person who rarely or if ever spoke a bad word about anyone. She was a woman of great faith and loved the Lord with all her heart. Her family was so dear and important to her, and she loved them unconditionally. Lorraine and Edwin are again holding hands, laughing, and walking together in in God’s Glory. Her gentle words and touch will be missed by many, as will her infectious laugh, sense of humor and bright smile. Hold her memory in your heart. He was born October 15, 1947, in Hays, the son of Paul and Emmerentia (Haselhorst) Werth.&nbsp;In 1965 he graduated from Schoenchen High School.&nbsp; He was a United States Navy veteran serving on the USS Providence during the Vietnam War.&nbsp;He was a retired carpenter for Haselhorst Construction.&nbsp;&nbsp; On February 19, 1989, he was united in marriage to Lisa Harvey in Wichita.&nbsp;They celebrated 30 years of marriage.&nbsp; He was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church and a lifetime member of the VFW.&nbsp;He loved fishing, watching Western movies, family gatherings, walking by the Smoky River, sitting on his porch enjoying the outdoors, and spending time with his grandson, Brody, who was his pride and joy.&nbsp;Gary’s kind heart, sense of humor, and positive outlook on life will be missed by many, always and forever. <img src="https://media.eaglewebservices.com/public/2019/11/1574344923512.jpeg">Dominic “Doc” Schuckman, age 64, of Newton, Kansas died Wednesday, November 20, 2019, at his home.&nbsp; He was born August 4, 1955, in Lacrosse, Kansas to Adolph and Leona (Herrman) Schuckman.&nbsp;He married Michelle (Vsetecka) on September 28, 1973, at Ransom, Kansas. He was a Regional Sales Manager for National Motor Club for 36 years.&nbsp;He also was owner of&nbsp;ACA Motor Club for five years.&nbsp;He grew up in Victoria, Kansas, and was a 1973 graduate of Victoria High School.&nbsp;He has lived in Newton, Kansas for 35 years.&nbsp;He was a former member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church and Knights of&nbsp;Columbus.&nbsp;He enjoyed yard work, barbecuing, watching track and his grandchildren playing sports.&nbsp; Survivors include his wife, Michelle Schuckman, of the home; two sons, Matthew Schuckman and wife, Jeni, Manchester, MO; Aaron Schuckman and wife, Jorie, St. Louis, MO; one brother, Sam Schuckman, Ashville, NC; two sisters, Theresa Wasinger and husband, John, Hays, KS; Martha Boardman and husband, Rob, Hays, KS; one step brother, Charles Vsetecka, Almena, KS; one step sister, Cheryl McNamara, Bonner Springs, KS; four grandchildren, Nathan Schuckman, Wyatt Schuckman, Matilda Schuckman and Greta Schuckman.&nbsp; He was preceded in death by his parents; his father-in-law, Charles Vsetecka.&nbsp; Funeral mass will be at 10:00 A.M. Monday, November 25, 2019, at the Basilica of St. Fidelis, Victoria, Kansas.&nbsp;Burial will be in St. Fidelis Cemetery Victoria, Kansas.&nbsp; A vigil service will be at 6:30 P.M. Dominic 'Doc' Schuckman

Born November 23, 1953 in Larned; the son of Robert Lee and Donna Yeager Seltmann.&nbsp;A lifetime area resident; he was a Vocational Director at the Larned Juvenile Correctional Facility. He was a member of the Santa Fe Trail Association, Wet/Dry Routes Chapter, Fort Larned National Historic Site Old Guard, Rotary Club, Prairie Arts Unlimited, Larned Area Chamber of Commerce, and also served as Chairman of the Pawnee County Planning Commission, all of Larned. His life partner and fiancé since 1997 was Tonya Schadel. Survivors include; his father and step-mother, Robert and Betty Seltmann, Nekoma, his fiancé Tonya Schadel, Larned; a step-daughter Dallas Munden, Wichita and his brother, Richard Seltmann, Rozel. He was preceded in death by his mother Donna Seltmann. A celebration of life will be held 3:00 p.m. Saturday, November 23, 2019 at Beckwith Mortuary, Larned with Pastor Damon Bradley presiding.&nbsp;Friends may sign the register book from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday at the mortuary.&nbsp;&nbsp;Cremation has taken place and private inurnment will be at a later date. Thomas 'Tom' Joe Seltmann

He was born October 2, 1927, in Hoisington, Kansas, the son of Thomas Joseph and Mary Elizabeth (Fitts) Glynn. He worked for the US Postal Service and then the Department of Defense where he retired as a Sergeant Major. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, was a 4th Degree Knight with the Knights of Columbus, and was also a member of the Society of Mayflower Descendants. On April 12, 1949, he married Marlene Nettleingham, they later divorced. On March 14, 1964, he married Mickie Thomas, in Hoisington. She preceded him in death on March 12, 2008. Survivors include; a son, Hilton Glynn and wife Marie of Hoisington; son-in-law, Dan Esfeld of Hoisington; four grandchildren; Erin Hemphill and husband Brandon, Hayley Oswald, Jason Esfeld and wife Cindy, and Vania Earp; and nine great grandchildren, Addy and Avery Hemphill, Valerie Oswald, Dalton, Logan, and Megan Esfeld, and Peyton, Reagan, and Leah Earp. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mickie Glynn, a daughter, Sherie Esfeld; siblings, Tommy Glynn, Mildred Ehrlich, Virginia Morris, John Glynn, Dorothy Degner, and Mary June Little. Friends may call Sunday, from 1 to 5 p.m. and Monday, 1 to 8 p.m., with family to greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Vigil and Rosary will begin at 7 p.m., all at the funeral home. SGM Retired Robert K. 'Bob' Glynn

<img src="https://media.eaglewebservices.com/public/2019/11/1574286718916.jpeg">Sharon Jean Schneider, 71, passed away Nov. 18, 2019, at Brookdale Assisted Living, Eden Prairie, Minn. She was born Oct. 16, 1948, in Great Bend, to Adolph and Ella (Weigt) Schrott. Sharon married James R. “Randy” Schneider Aug. 23, 1969, in Olmitz. He survives. Sharon was a graduate of Otis High School with the class of 1966 and graduated from Ft. Hays State University in 1970. She was a resident of Eden Prairie since 1988, coming from Hutchinson, Kan., a homemaker, former teacher at Utica High School and retired from MCC in 2010. Her true love was being a wife, mom, grandma, being with friends and being on the farm. She was a member of Pax Christi Catholic Church, Eden Prairie, 7 Hi Cruisers Car Club and a former member of St. Ann Catholic Church, Olmitz. Survivors include husband, James R. "Randy" Schneider of the home; one son, Shaun Schneider and wife Ginny of Chuluota, Fla.; two daughters, Wendy Webster and husband Seth of St. Anthony, Minn., and Kelly Dassow and husband Andy of Medford, Wis.; one sister, Charlotte Wagner and husband Larry of Hutchinson Kan.; and seven grandchildren, Chandler and Jayden Webster, Gavin and Leo Schneider and Colton, Ashlyn and Remi Dassow. She was preceded in death by her parents. Graveside service will be 11:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 25, 2019, at St. Ann Cemetery in Olmitz. Visitation will be from 1:00 to 9:00 p.m., Sunday, November 24, at Bryant Funeral Home, with an Altar Society Rosary at 7:00 p.m. Memorial funds have been established with St. Ann Catholic Church or Albert Fire Department, in care of Bryant Funeral Home.

Maudie Lorene Seeger

He was born August 1, 1972, in Hays to Gordon and Diane (Gerstner) Steckline. Sean was working as a Maintenance Technician for Main Event in Kansas City. He was a graduate of Hays High and he enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling and pool. He is survived by his parents Gordon and Diane of Hays; a brother, Kurtis Steckline of Hays; a sister, Tacey Steckline of Hays; a nephew, Joshua Labandeira and three nieces, Bailey Steckline, Hailey Zeman and Lilly Zeman. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Esdore and Roberta Steckline and his maternal grandparents, Verlin and Betty Gerstner.&nbsp; Funeral services will be 3 PM Friday, November 22, 2019 at Brock’s-Keithley Funeral Chapel and Crematory 2509 Vine Hays, KS 67601.
