Anthony A. 'Tony' Beran Jr.

Anthony A. “Tony” Beran Jr., 83, died January 3, 2020, at his home in Aurora, Colorado. He was born August 14, 1936, in the Great Bend Hospital, the son of Anton and Hattie (Prosser) Beran. Tony attended Odin schools and graduated in 1954. He attended St. Mary of the Plains, where he played baseball and football his freshman year. Tony then joined the US Army and served in Korea. Upon his return he attended and graduated from Emporia State College.

After graduation he went to Denver to look for work, where he found a job with Martin Missile, and then later at a savings and loan. He worked for the Colorado State Highway Dept. for a while before starting his own business as a real estate appraiser, retiring in 2002.

Tony belonged to the Queen of Peace Parish in Aurora, Colorado.

He is survived by his sister, Alice Dolechek and husband Vince of Claflin; sisters-in-law, Elvita Beran of Odin, and Judy Beran of Emporia; 14 nieces and nephews, Randy Beran, Brent Beran, Scott Beran, Patricia Walker, Robin Beran, Gerald Beran, Terry Beran, Kevin Beran, Joy Hertach, Craig Beran, Julie Lahr, Mike Beran, David Beran and Andrea Bachura; and numerous great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Eugene, Gerald, Joseph, Robert, and Leon, a sister Viola Dice; nephew, Eric Beran, and niece, Michelle Popp.

Friends may call 1 to 5 p.m., Tuesday and 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., Wednesday. Family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, with Vigil and Rosary to begin at 7 p.m., all at the funeral home.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., Thursday, January 9th, 2020, at Holy Family Catholic Church, Odin, celebrated by Father Don Bedore. Burial with military honors will follow in Holy Family Catholic Cemetery, Odin.
