Vivian Goetz, 81, died Wednesday, June 24, 2020 at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita.

She was born August 28, 1938 Gove County, Kansas the daughter of Adam
 Fred and Clara Marie (Ziegler) Selensky.&nbsp; She was a graduate of Park 
High School and attended Marymount College in Salina. &nbsp;On September 10, 
1957 she married Vern Goetz at Park, Kansas and they moved to Dodge City
 in 1970.&nbsp;

She was a member of the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Dodge 
City where she was a long time member of the church choir as well as 
other committees. She enjoyed quilting and spending time with family.

Survivors include: her husband of 62 years, Vern; their 7 children, 
Amy Goetz, Minneola, Stan and wife Suzi, Dodge City, Kenny and wife 
Sonya, Dodge City, Carrie Davenport and husband Jim, Dodge City, Ima 
Davidson and husband Doug, Cimarron, Nancy McElgunn and husband Brian, 
Hutchinson and Joe and wife Brandy, Cimarron; a brother, Robert 
Selensky, Grainfield; her sister, Virginia Wessel, Grainfield; 19 
grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a granddaughter, Megan McElgunn and 2 brothers, Norbert and Ron Selensky.

Vigil service will be at 7:00 pm Sunday, June 28, 2020 at Ziegler 
Funeral Chapel, Dodge City.&nbsp; Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 am Monday at 
the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Dodge City, with Fr. Wesley 
Schawe presiding.&nbsp; Burial will follow in Greencrest Memorial Gardens, 
Dodge City.&nbsp; Visitation will be Sunday from 1:00 pm to 7:00 pm at 
Ziegler Funeral Chapel.

Vivian Goetz

J.R. "Jake" Durham, son of Joe and Eva (Ragan) Durham, was born August 22, 1928, in Granite City, Illinois, and passed away in Norton, Kansas, on June 24, 2020, at the age of 91.

J.R. grew up in Granite City where he was very active in wrestling as a three-year-letterman, captain of the team and had two undefeated dual seasons.  Following high school, J.R. continued his wrestling career at Arkansas State University which was in its first year of a wrestling program.  J.R. lettered and was captain of the team all four years and was a two-time All American and National AAU Champion.  He also attended Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee.  J.R. met his future wife, Ruth Anita Robinson, at Arkansas State where she was a co-ed and cheerleader.  They were married December 24, 1951, in Piggott, Arkansas.  J.R. enlisted in the U.S. Army where he spent 2½ years and served in Korea as a platoon leader with the famed 27th Infantry (Wolfhound) Regiment of the 25th division.    While in the army, J.R. was given the name "Jake" which stayed with him the rest of his life.   Following his discharge from the army where he obtained the rank of 2nd Lieutenant, he continued his service in the Army Reserves and the Kansas National Guard, retiring after 29 years as a Lt. Colonel.  

Jake taught school in Piggott where he was the assistant high school football coach and junior high principal and teacher.  His plans were to get his Masters degree in school administration but a call from his college wrestling coach put him in touch with the principal of Norton Community High School.  Principal Gerald Travis offered Jake the job of wrestling coach and they moved to Norton in 1955.  Jake taught P.E., American History and Driver's Ed and also coached track teams but he is best known and loved for his years as the head wrestling coach where he led his teams to numerous championships and wins at the local, regional, and state levels.

Jake was also very active in the Norton community.  He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, a member and past commander of the Post #63 Harmonson-Redd Amercian Legion, VFW, Chamber of Commerce, member and past president of the Lion's club and the men's and couple's bridge clubs.  Jake organized the Norton Veteran's Day parade for over 50 years and also started the Norton Little Kid's Wrestling program.

Survivors include:  his wife, Ruth Durham, Norton; two sons, Joseph (Sara) Durham, Cimarron, Kansas; James Durham, (friend, Sue Ann Stutheit,) Norton; one grandson, Jordan (Victoria) Durham, Mt. Dora, Florida; one great-grandson, Julian Michael Durham, Mt. Dora, Florida; one sister, Sarah Carver, Waterloo, Illinois; three sisters-in-law, Paula Hollis, Jonesboro, Arkansas; Judy Heaton Robinson, Springfield, Missouri; Amanda Dalton Lane, Germantown, Tennessee; six nieces and seven nephews; other relatives and many friends.

Jake was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Daniel Jay, one brother, George "Bull" (Joan) Durham, one sister, Betty Jo (Walter) Polka, one sister-in-law, Tica (Gus) Camp, three brothers-in-law, John Richard Robinson, Fred Hollis and Duane Lane, and four nephews, Steve Polka, Charles "Chuck" Dalton, Richard "Ricky" Robinson and Steve Dalton.

J.R. 'Jake' Durham

Mark Eugene Peterson, 59, passed away June 25, 2020, at Ellinwood 
District Hospital, Ellinwood. He was born July 13, 1960, at Wichita, to 
Edward N. &amp; Donna C. (Little) Peterson. He married Lisa Libby on 
January 24, 1997, at Las Vegas, Nevada. She survives.

A lifetime Great Bend resident, Mark was the owner of Peterson 
Mechanical in Great Bend. He served on the board of directors of the 
Kansas Shrine Bowl for twelve years, and enjoyed KU sports and the 
Kansas City Chiefs. It is suggested that people wear KU blue or Chiefs 
red for the service.

Survivors include, his wife Lisa Peterson of the home; two daughters,
 Audra Cross of Great Bend, and Taylor Cornelson and husband Isaac of 
Oklahoma City, Okla.; one son Justin Peterson of Wichita; a brother, 
Edward H. Peterson of Wichita; and three grandchildren, Amaya Peterson, 
Mason Peterson, and Easton Peterson. He was preceded in death by his 
parents, Edward and Donna Peterson.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 9:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 30, 
2020, at Bryant Funeral Home. Graveside service will be held at 2:00 
p.m., Wednesday, July 1, 2020, at Great Bend Cemetery North, Great Bend,

Nolen Gene Taton, 66, passed away June 24, 2020, at Hays Medical 
Center, Hays. He was born October 22, 1953, at Harper, to Olen &amp; 
Betty (Swingle) Taton. He married Cynthia Rice on December 28, 1973, at 
Stafford. They were married for 25 years.

Coming from St. John in 2017, Nolen was a Great Bend resident. He was
 the President and CEO of St. John National Bank for 30 plus years. He 
was a member of the Kansas Bankers Association and the Kansas State 
University Alumni. He was also a previous mayor of St. John. He enjoyed 
gardening, landscaping and spending time in Colorado. He especially 
enjoyed spending time with his family.

Survivors include, two daughters, Emily Schroeder and husband Eric of
 Denver, Colo., and Stephanie Delaney and husband Jared of Ness City; 
his parents, Olen and Betty Taton; his companion and caregiver, Cynthia 
Rice; a sister, Linda McIntire and husband William of Argonia; four 
grandchildren, Keenan Schroeder, Zachary Schroeder, Clayton Delaney, and
 Carl Delaney; and friend and caregiver, Dan Shaffer. He was preceded in
 death by his daughter, Karlee Taton.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 9:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 30, 
2020, at Bryant Funeral Home, with family to receive friends from 6:00 
to 8:00 p.m. Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, July

Robert Franklin Loper, age 90, died at his home on Thursday, June 25, 2020, in Garden City, Kansas.  He was born on May 22, 1930, in Norton, Kansas, the son of Ellis Paul Loper, Sr. and Mamie Evelyn Smith Loper.

He worked as a farmer, para professional, and was an ordained minister.  Robert was a member of the Turning Point Church of the Nazarene.

He served his country during the Korean War in the United States Army.

On January 5, 1951, he married to Marion Joyce Sooby.  She preceded him in death in 2006.  On July 14, 2007, he was married to Phyllis Vanmeter.  She preceded him in death in 2019.

Robert Franklin Loper

Dusty Dee Baehler, age 56, of Sharon Springs, Kansas passed away 
Thursday, June 25, 2020 surrounded by his wife and kids. Dusty was born 
in Wallace County on January 31, 1964 to Harold and Betty (Vincent) 
Baehler. He grew up and attended school in Winona and Sharon Springs. He
 graduated from Wallace County High School in 1983. Then he went to Bud 
Beaston Horse Shoeing School in Sperry, Oklahoma. On June 4th, 1988 he 
married Christina Lacey in Sharon Springs, Kansas. They had two 
daughters, Michelle and Lacey.

Dusty worked many years as a rancher but his favorite job was being a
 ranch manager for Harold Rother Farms. He took pride in building his 
red cow herd for Shirley. Along with ranching, he enjoyed raising horses
 with his family and being a member of American Quarter Horse 
Association. He spent lots of time riding the horses he raised. 
Additionally, his passion of roping led him to being a member of the 
United States Team Roping Championships, World Series Team Roping 
Championship, and Kansas Pro Rodeo Association. Besides ranching and 
roping, Dusty could be found spending time telling jokes, telling 
stories, and being the life of the party with his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his mom, Betty Baehler, his grandparents 
Hap and Mary Baehler, and his grandparents Vernon and Frances Vincent.

Dusty is survived by his wife, Chris; daughters Michelle (Kent) of 
Anselmo, Nebraska and Lacey (Gary) of Sharon Springs, Kansas; dad Harold
 of Sharon Springs, Kansas; brothers Vernon Lee (Tamara) of Moscow, 
Kansas, and Shawn (Janine) of Sharon Springs, Kansas; grandchildren 
Caitlin, Tyson, Kali, Kaycee, Karlee, Kyle and Bayler; and many other 
cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Patricia Ann Radke, 84, of Russell, Kansas, died on Wednesday, June 24, 2020, at Wheatland Nursing Center in Russell.

Patricia was born on November 27, 1935, in Wewoka, Oklahoma, the daughter of Cecil and Gertrude Lynch.  Her family moved around to several places but eventually made Russell, Kansas, her permanent home.  She graduated from Russell High School in the class of 1953.  After high school, she graduated from Ft. Hays State University with a degree in Business.  She met, fell in love and was united in marriage to Vernon D. Radke on February 22, 1959, in Russell, at St. John Lutheran Church.  From this union Patricia and Vernon were blessed with 2 children Mark and Robyn.  With their love of children they also welcomed children from other countries as foreign exchange students.  She worked for Shields Oil Company as a secretary, City of Russell as assistant to the city manager, public TV station KOOD as assistant office manager and Buttons and Bows working as a preschool teacher’s assistant.  She was a longtime member of St. John Lutheran Church in Russell and was in the church altar guild and women in fellowship group.  She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.  Then later in life she loved coloring adult coloring books.

Surviving family include her son Mark Radke of Sterling, Kansas; daughter Robyn Williams of Russell, Kansas; 3 grandchildren Kelsey Shattuck (Jason), Cherish Richards and Christopher Radke and 4 great grandchildren; extended family Pilar Morales Villar, Hans Jochum and Kai Muller.

She was preceded in death by her parents and sister Caroline Coddington.

A graveside memorial service to celebrate Patricia’s life will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Tuesday, June 30, 2020, at St. John Lutheran Cemetery in Russell, Kansas.  Cremation has been selected and burial of the ashes will follow the graveside service.  Visitation will be held from 9 A.M. to 8 P.M. on Monday, June 29, 2020, at the mortuary with family greeting guests from 6 P.M. to 7 P.M. Monday evening.  Memorials may be given to St. John Lutheran Church and sent in care of the mortuary.  Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary of Russell, Kansas, is in charge of the memorial service arrangements.

Galen Dale Olson of Weslaco, TX 
passed away after a courageous battle with a severe illness on Tuesday, 
May 5, 2020, at the age of 76. One of 4 children, Galen was born on 
February 4, 1944, in Quinter, KS to Egla Esther (Steinle) Olson and Dale
 Wayne Olson.&nbsp;

He married Twila Mae Fabian on August
 26, 1962 in the Presbyterian Church in WaKeeney, KS. They were married 
57 years and blessed with 3 children. In Galen’s work life, he wore many
 hats. In his early years, he was a lineman for Central KS Power and a 
volunteer fireman. He served on City Council from 1994-1999. Galen owned
 and operated many businesses including Olson Electric, Metal 
Contracting and Manufacturing, and Olson Realty and Auction. In his 
years before retirement, he was actively involved in remodeling, 
selling, and building homes and followed in his father and grandfather’s
 footsteps as an auctioneer. Although he retired with his wife, Twila, 
to Weslaco, Texas in 2011, Galen was born and raised in Western Kansas 
and spent the majority of his life there. He was a member of the Ogallah
 Christian Church in Ogallah, KS and enjoyed his time with the church. 
Galen was a great storyteller. He had a big heart which he generously 
shared with his children and grandchildren. He was devoted to his church
 family and friends. When the flooding hit Texas in June of 2018, it was
 said that he was the first one to arrive and the last one to leave when
 helping his neighbors and friends in his retirement community.&nbsp;

His family was his greatest love and 
he will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He was preceded in death 
by his parents, Dale and Egla Olson; 2 sisters Myrtis Marie Olson, and 
Twila (MarJean) Denchfield; and 1 brother, Robert (Bob) Olson. He is 
survived by his wife, Twila of Weslaco, TX; daughters, Tamera Roe (Jeff)

Galen Dale Olson

Dorothy Elizabeth (Kaufman) Bay, 98, of Russell, Kansas, entered into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, June 17, 2020 at the home of her son and beloved daughter-in-law in College Station, Texas. She was born May 22, 1922, on the family farm south of Dorrance in Russell County Kansas to Carl and Carrie (Cook) Kaufman. Dorothy graduated from Dorrance High School with the class of 1940.&nbsp;

She met her future husband, Edd, at a dance and they were united in marriage on April 24, 1941. Edd and Dorothy made their home in Russell, and were blessed with a son, Darrell Edward, on December 22, 1942. Shortly thereafter Edd was drafted into the US Army and Dorothy, with son in tow, returned to reside with her parents until her husband returned from the WWII Pacific Theater in 1945. The family

then returned to their home in Russell where Dorothy served as a devoted wife and mother until Darrell went off to college. At that time, she went to work as a dental assistant in the office of

Dr. E.J. Kuhn where she remained employed for the next 25 years. Dorothy and Edd were loyal to each other for 50 years until his death on April 7, 1992. Dorothy remained in her Russell home until 2015 at which time she moved to College Station, Texas, where she resided with her son and daughter-in-law until her death.&nbsp; Dorothy was an active member of St. John’s Lutheran Church Women’s Auxiliary and spent numerous hours volunteering her service to the Lord’s work. She also spent many years volunteering at the Russell Hospital Auxiliary. She loved to crochet and made numerous items as gifts for her family and friends. &nbsp;

Left to cherish her loving memory is her son Darrell Edward Bay and daughter-in-law Ann LaRhea (Query) Bay, a granddaughter Laura Elizabeth and husband Michael Scott Williams, and two great-grandchildren Christina Baylee and Suzanne Michelle Williams, all of College Station, Texas, and one sister Leona Champion of San Jose, California. &nbsp;

She is preceded in death by her parents Carl and Carrie, husband Edd, brothers Lloyd and Orville Kaufman, and sisters Helen Stickney, LaFernPrediger, and Carol Herber. &nbsp;

Meagan Rachelle Wilson, age 30 of Hays, Kansas died Thursday, June 25, 2020, at Hays Medical Center, Hays, Kansas.&nbsp; She was born April 7, 1990, in Hays, Kansas, to Ross Stuart and Cindi Diane (Chambers) Wilson.

She was an elementary teacher for two years at Western Plains Elementary School in Ransom, Kansas and she spent one year at Lincoln Elementary School in Lincoln, Kansas.&nbsp; She grew up in LaCrosse, Kansas and was a 2008 graduate of LaCrosse High School.&nbsp; She was a graduate of Fort Hays State University with a Bachelor Degree in Education and attended one year at Emporia State College.&nbsp; Meagan attended the North Oak Community Church in Hays, Kansas, was a former board member of the Ransom Library.&nbsp; She was a teacher for the Vacation Bible School at North Oak Community Church, and enjoyed traveling, cooking, reading, and spending time with her nephew and nieces.&nbsp;

Survivors include her parents, Ross S. and Cindi D. Wilson, of the home; one sister, Melissa Sprenkle and husband, Jake, Hays, KS; her grandmother, Julia Chambers, Jetmore, KS; one nephew, Jakson Sprenkle; two nieces, Kinley Sprenkle and Ellie Sprenkle.

Meagan Rachelle Wilson

Marvin Earl Johnston Jr., 77, passed away June 24, 2020, at Via 
Christi St. Francis, Wichita.&nbsp; Marvin was born July 11, 1942, in Buffalo,
 KS to Laurine (Brock) and Marvin Earl Johnston, Sr. Marvin Jr. married 
Mary Ann Schartz August 22, 1970, in Great Bend.&nbsp;

Marvin, a previous resident of Great Bend, Kansas City, Wichita, and 
Grand Lake, had an entrepreneur's heart, having an interest in farming, 
cattle, and the oil and gas business. He served as a flight medic in the
 US Air Force during the Vietnam War. Marvin most recently attended Holy
 Ghost Catholic Church, Vinita, OK and was a previous member of Prince 
of Peace Parish at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Great Bend. &nbsp;His 
favorite pastimes were flying airplanes back in the day, cooking, 
reading about cars, but above all, he loved spending time with his wife,
 children, and grandchildren. He was a loving and kind man and will be 
missed by everyone’s life he touched.&nbsp;

Survivors include wife, Mary Ann Johnston; two sons, John Johnston 
and wife Christy of Omaha, NE, and Chris Johnston of Omaha, NE; two 
daughters, Michelle Richards and husband McKenna of New Orleans, LA, and
 Melesa Coffey and husband Chuck of Wichita; one sister, Sherri Marmie 
and husband David of Great Bend, KS; and six grandchildren, Gabby, 
Jacob, Scarlett, Frank, Josie, and Abraham.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 30, 2020 at St. 
Patrick Catholic Church, Great Bend, with Father Louis Trung Dinh Hoang 
presiding.&nbsp; Interment will follow at Great Bend Cemetery.&nbsp; Visitation 
will be Noon to 9:00 p.m., Monday, June 29, with a Vigil and Rosary at

Mary Ann Schartz August 22, 1970, in Great Bend.&nbsp;Marvin, a previous resident of Great Bend, Kansas City, Wichita, and 
Grand Lake, had an entrepreneur's heart, having an interest in farming, 
cattle, and the oil and gas business. He served as a flight medic in the
 US Air Force during the Vietnam War. Marvin most recently attended Holy
 Ghost Catholic Church, Vinita, OK and was a previous member of Prince 
of Peace Parish at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Great Bend. &nbsp;His 
favorite pastimes were flying airplanes back in the day, cooking, 
reading about cars, but above all, he loved spending time with his wife,
 children, and grandchildren. He was a loving and kind man and will be 
missed by everyone’s life he touched.&nbsp;Survivors include wife, Mary Ann Johnston; two sons, John Johnston 
and wife Christy of Omaha, NE, and Chris Johnston of Omaha, NE; two 
daughters, Michelle Richards and husband McKenna of New Orleans, LA, and
 Melesa Coffey and husband Chuck of Wichita; one sister, Sherri Marmie 
and husband David of Great Bend, KS; and six grandchildren, Gabby,

Danny D. Short

James William Gray, 74, passed away June 23, 2020 at University of Kansas Health Systems Hays Campus.

He was born July 22, 1945 in Russell to James W. and Jane Workman Gray.

A Hoisington resident for eighteen years, and formerly of Great Bend,
 he was a truck driver for Beaver Grain. He was of the Christian faith, a
 member of the VFW Post 6240, Russell, the American Legion Post 286, 
Hoisington, and Fraternal Order of the Eagles, Great Bend. He served in 
the United States Navy and enjoyed fishing and hunting.

Survivors include: sister, Kala Miller Kurtz, and husband Roger, 
Larned; two nephews, Brandon (Shelby) Kurtz, Larned, Jason (Sierra 
Schmitt) Kurtz, Garfield; cousin, Sidonya Jane Bolton, Hawaii.

He was preceded in death by his father, James Gray; mother, Jane 
Miller; step-father, James C. Miller; and a son, Douglas Johnson Gray.

Cremation has taken place and a memorial graveside service will be 11
 a.m. Tuesday, June 30, 2020 at Russell Cemetery, Russell with Pastor 
Mike Joiner presiding and military graveside rites. Friends may sign the

Carl Earnest Wederski, 74, of Colby, formerly of Atwood, died Tuesday,

Carl Earnest Wederski

Shirley "Billie" McNutt, 96 of Wichita, KS passed away June  22, 2020.  Billie was born April 5, 1924, in Kinsley, KS, to E.B. and Inez Johnson. 

During high school in Kinsley, Billie began seeing Walter "Adrian" McNutt from the neighboring town of Lewis.  WWII caused Adrian to enlist in the Army Air Corps.  While he was away, Billie received a BA from Kansas State University where she became a life long Wildcat fan.  On February 10, 1945, Billie married Adrian in Moultrie, GA. 

 After WWII they moved to Hays, KS where they raised their family.  Once their two boys began school, Billie wanted to begin working, but the only jobs available were in teaching the ever-expanding generation of baby boomers, she returned to college and received her teaching degree from Fort Hays State University.  Billie focused on the grade school levels and during the next few decades taught all grades but Kindergarten. 

Over the years, she especially found interest in special needs children, so her summers were always filled with more school work.  She taught in Hays, Great Bend, and Topeka before her retirement which took her briefly to California before she and Adrian settled in west Wichita. Billie lost her beloved Adrian of over 50 years of marriage on April 2, 1996. 

 She is also preceded in death by her parents, E.B. and Inez Johnson, her sisters Betty Jane Nelson and Vernice Inez King, and granddaughter, Samantha. 

She is survived by her sons Douglas and Dale, six grandchildren, Craig, Carri, Amanda, Evan, Alesia, and Jenny, and numerous great-grandchildren. 

 Funeral services are to be held Saturday, June 27, 2020, at 10:00 A.M.  at Wulf-Ast Mortuary Chapel, 911 Biermann, Garden Plain, Kansas.  Private burial to follow, at Vinita Cemetery.

Shirley 'Billie' McNutt

Rosa P. Brown, daughter of Galen and Cleta (Deeter) Wertenberger, was born February 28, 1919, in rural Quinter, Kansas, and passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on June 24, 2020, at the Andbe Home in Norton, Kansas, at the age of 101.

Rosa grew up in the Devizes, Kansas community, attending the rural grade school and graduating from the Norcatur High School.  Rosa married Gerald D. Brown in 1938, in Quinter.  They made their home in various communities in Kansas, Nebraska, and California, before returning to the Lyle, Kansas, area.  They later moved to Norton, where Rosa spent many years as a clerk in the J.C. Penney store.

Rosa enjoyed crocheting and she was best known for her angel food cakes and cherry pies.

Survivors include: her daughter, Judy and husband, John Nebgen, Rome, Illinois; two grandchildren, Dane Nebgen and Ginger Johnson; four great-grandchildren, Emilee and Maddy Nebgen, Ashley and Ben Johnson; other relatives and friends.  

Rosa was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sons, three brothers, and two sisters.

William Steven “Steve” Stone, 70, died Sunday, June 21, 2020 at his home
 in Garden City. He was born October 3, 1949, in Garden City, Kansas, 
the son of William Faye Stone and Elise Mae (Whitson) Stone. A lifetime 
resident of Finney County, Kansas. 
Steve attended Plymell School and graduated from Garden City High School
 in 1967. He graduated Garden City Junior College in 1969. A fourth 
generation farmer, he operated Tri-Stone Farms, Inc. As he expanded his
 farm with his wife and daughters, he enjoyed the advances made in 
agriculture. 
Steve married Rhonda Schmale of Garden City, Kansas on March 15, 1980. 
Together they have two daughters, Megan and Marci. A lifetime farmer 
and rancher, Steve enjoyed being home on the farm the most. He also 
enjoyed traveling and spending time with his family and being a Grandpa.
 He was a member and previous board member of the Garden City Co-op, 
Farm Bureau member and previous board member, Kansas corn growers 
member, Kansas Livestock Association and a member of the Finney County 
Historical Society. He served 26 years on the Southwest Kansas 
Groundwater Management District 3 board representing Finney County. He 
served as their President for two years, 1998 and 1999. He was 
passionate about water and the sustainability of ground water in 
southwest Kansas. 
Survivors include his wife Rhonda of the home; two daughters Megan 
Wehkamp (Brian) of Garden City, Ks. Marci Flax (Kevin) of Ellis, Ks. 
Sister Marilyn Chaffin of Kinsley, brother Tim Stone of Garden City and 
his mother Elsie Mae of Garden City. Three grandsons; Hayden Wehkamp of
 Garden City. Derek and Ty Flax of Ellis, Ks as well as many nieces and 
nephews. Steve is preceded in death by his father, Faye.

William Steven 'Steve' Stone

Ruth Elaine (Stigge) True was born July 6, 1945, to Otto and Leona 
(Beikman) Stigge in Washington, Kansas. Ruth left this life to be with 
her Lord and Savior on June 23, 2020, in Beloit, Kansas at the age of 74 
years.

Ruth attended school and graduated from Washington High School in 
1963. She attended Brown Mackie business school after graduation. She 
met and married the love of her life, Neal True, on February 28, 1965. 
Neal and Ruth enjoyed 55 years together and their marriage was a perfect
 example of love and devotion. Their marriage was blessed with three 
children, Darren, Mark, and Renee. Neal and Ruth owned and operated True
 Family Center clothing store in Downs, Kansas for 14 years. After the 
clothing store closed, Ruth worked at the Alco&nbsp; store in Beloit before 
working at Beloit Medical Center in Beloit until retirement. Ruth 
enjoyed reading and crossword puzzles but her favorite pass time was 
spent enjoying her seven grandsons: Blake, Brady, Kade, Jordan, Corey, 
Kyle and Kray. Ruth was baptized, confirmed, and married at Bethlehem 
Lutheran Church in Greenleaf, Kansas. Ruth was a member of Zion Lutheran
 Church in Downs since moving there with Neal and their family in 1971.

Ruth is survived by her husband Neal, sons, Darren True and his wife 
Lori of Beloit, Mark True and his wife Buffy of Salina, and daughter 
Renee Walter and her husband Allen of Manhattan, grandsons Blake Walter 
and wife Nicholle, Brady True and wife Kendra, Kade True and fiancé 
McKenzie Ast ,Jordan Walter and fiancé Codi Ebert, Corey True, Kyle True
 and Kray True. Her brothers Norman Stigge and wife Maureen, Dennis

Ruth Elaine (Stigge) True

Richard R. “Dick” Connell, 89, died June 22, 2020, at Medicalodges, 
Great Bend, Kansas. He was born February 1, 1931, in Lincoln, Nebraska, 
the son of Charles and Josephine (Wilson) Connell. Dick graduated from 
Keya Paha County High School in Springview, Nebraska. He then went to 
college at the John Brown University in Shilom Springs, Arkansas, and 
then Wayne State College in Nebraska. It was here that he met Bonnie.

On July 5, 1952, he married Bonnie Lee Mousel in Marysville, Kansas. She preceded him in death on July 21, 2018.

Richard served in the Army from 1952- 1954; 16 months of his service 
was spent in Korea, where he was a radio operator and taught soldiers 
how to read and write. Richard continued his love for education 
graduating from the University of Northern Colorado with a Bachelor’s 
degree in education. Richard and Bonnie moved to Otis in 1956 where he 
started teaching Science, Health, and PE. He was also the head football 
and baseball coach, assistant basketball coach, Driver’s Ed teacher and 
in charge of the school play. He went back to Colorado during the 
summers to finish his Master’s degree in Administration. He became 
principal at Otis from 1965 to 1969. Mr. Connell received a phone call 
from Claflin and was offered the Superintendent position in 1969. He, 
Bonnie, and the three boys moved to Claflin as he worked as the 
Superintendent of Claflin for 24 years. During their years at Claflin, 
they added a daughter to their family. Mr. Connell held a variety of 
other titles in the Claflin district while acting as the Superintendent,
 he was also the principal of the Claflin Elementary and Jr. High School
 for a few years. Richard retired in 1993-1994 from Claflin with a total
 of 41 years in the education field.

Richard was very active in both his community and church. He was a 
member of the United Methodist Church, the Lions Club, was a board 
member for Clara Barton Hospital, former leader in the Cub and Boy 
Scouts, a volunteer driver for the 55+ and a member of the Kansas 
Schools Superintendent Association.

Survivors include; son, Mark Connell and wife, Kim of Claflin; 
daughter, Carol McAtee and husband Travis of Great Bend; 
daughter-in-law, Belinda Connell of Claflin; sister, Gwen VanBrocklin of
 Roseville, CA; Craig Connell of Lincoln, NE; 10 grandchildren, Jessica 
(Mark)Keeton, Kipp (Brooke) Connell, Addie(Jeff) Cullen, Kandice (Nate) 
Thurman, Krystal (Dustin)Hickel, Becca (Dave) Duncan, Kyler 
(Kristan)Connell, Reed (Callie) McAtee, Keyton (Joe) McCombs, and Gage 
McAtee; 20 great-grandchildren, Graecyn, Ellie &amp; Tenley Keeton, 
Chance &amp; West Connell, Adrian &amp; Molly Cullen, Kimber &amp;

Irene Dinkel, 90 of Victoria, Kansas, died Tuesday, June 23, 2020, at Via Christi Village Care Center in Hays, Kansas. &nbsp;

She&nbsp; was born April 15, 1930, in Gorham, Kansas to Joseph P. and Katherine (Schmidtberger) Dreiling.&nbsp; She married Elmer J. Dinkel on January 7, 1947, in Victoria, Kansas.&nbsp; He preceded her in death on September 18, 2003.

She was a nurses aid, and worked at St. John’s Rest Home in Victoria for over 25 years, was a senior Companion for 15 years.&nbsp; She was a member of The Basilica of St. Fidelis.&nbsp; She grew up and attended school in Gorham, Kansas. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, embroidering, crocheting, and did a lot of cooking.&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;

Survivors include three sons, Ronald Dinkel and wife, Diane, Victoria, KS; Robert L. “Bob” Dinkel and wife, Connie, Victoria, KS; Larry A. JoAnn Fincher, 81, La Crosse, Kansas, died Saturday, June 20, 2020, at her home.

JoAnn was born June 1, 1939, in rural Liebenthal, Kansas, the 
daughter of Marcus and Magdalena E. (Herrman) Depperschmidt.&nbsp; She was a 
lifelong resident of Rush County, Kansas.&nbsp; She was a cook at Rush County
 Memorial Hospital, La Crosse, Kansas, before her retirement.

JoAnn’s passions in life were her family and bingo.

She married James Richard “Dick” Fincher.&nbsp; He preceded her in death August 5, 1995.

Survivors include:&nbsp; three grandchildren, James Fincher, Ernie 
Fincher, Jr., and Nakeya Reed; eight great grandchildren; her daughter 
in law, Cindy Fincher; and her brother, Dennis Depperschmidt.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her son, 
Ernest “Fat Ernie” Fincher; four brothers, Gerald Depperschmidt, LaVern 
Depperschmidt, Charles “Charlie” Depperschmidt, and Lee “Ed”

Jeffrey J. Bouchard passed away June 18, 2020, at the Solomon Valley 
Manor in Stockton, KS at the age of 53.&nbsp; He was born Dec. 29, 1966, in 
Northhampton, MA, the son of Jerald &amp; Julie (VonMach) Bouchard.

Survivors include his mother Julie of Agra &amp; his brothers, John of Agra &amp; Jason of Colorado Springs, CO.

Cremation was chosen.&nbsp; There will be no services.

Mary Margaret Koriel Horton, 75, of Salina, passed away Saturday, June 
20, 2020. She was born on November 14, 1944 in Hays, Kansas to Albert 
and Josephine (Leggee) Koriel. 
 Mary graduated from FHSU Nursing Program as an RN. She was a 
psychiatric nurse at Larned State Hospital. Later on in life, she 
returned to school and got her Masters in Social Work from KU. She then 
worked until retirement with the Infant/Child Development Services 
associated with Salina Regional Hospital. 
 She enjoyed spending time with her family, gardening, pulling weeds 
and traveling. Enjoying being the ‘Library Lady’ for daycare children in
 Salina. 
 Mary was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, where she was 
an active member of the United Methodist Women’s Group. She also enjoyed
 working with children, civil and religious groups. 
 Mary married Forrest on February 19, 1982 in Great Bend, Kansas. To 
this union, two families were combined. Forrest survives of the home. 
Other survivors include Leslie Barrera and husband, Israel of Wichita, 
Amy Werth, and husband, Travis of Hays, Alison Rhodeman and husband, 
Christopher of Warrensburg, Missouri; and brother, John Koriel and wife,
 JoAnn of Rush Center. She leaves behind 9 grandchildren, Noel, 
Nicholas, Ariel, Sebastian, Britny, Lakin, Britney, Krystal, Karissa; 
and 4 great grandchildren; Jacob, Jaxon, Lily, Nicholas. 
 Visitation will be Friday, June 26th from 1:00 pm - 8:00 pm at 
Carlson-Geisendorf Funeral Home, with family present from 6:00 pm - 8:00
 pm.

Mary Margaret Koriel Horton

Donna Jean “DJ” Rhoades, age 59 of Hays, Kansas passed away in her home on June 17, 2020. She was born to parents David and Faith Rhoades on January 26, 1961 in WaKeeney, Kansas. She grew up as the youngest of three children and attended Trego Community High School. She then attended Fort Hays State University where she graduated with a degree in communications. 

Donna was an avid writer of several short stories, plays, and manuscripts. While attending Fort Hays State University, she had the honor of having one of her plays performed by the theatre department. She also wrote several blogs on her favorite band, the Beach Boys. One of her most treasured projects was the cookbook of family recipes she finished putting together just a few short months ago called “Conversations by the Old Country Stove.” This “labor of love” is a testament to her ability to create a masterpiece that will be cherished for years to come. From her love of the Yankees to her love for the weird, unique, and unusual, Donna was one of a kind. If you knew Donna, then you would know that she was extremely smart, and you did not stand a chance of beating her at Jeopardy or Trivial Pursuit. Her birds were the highlight of her life, and if you went to visit her, she may have greeted you with the Vulcan salute. Halloween will not be the same without her tales of ghosts and goblins, witches, and wizards, or Ardath Bey as our guide on the Ghost Train. 

Donna is survived by her brother, Charles “Chuck” Rhoades; her nephew, Chris (Leah) Rhoades of Hays, KS; three nieces, Jennifer (Jason) Colby of Ellis, KS, Shauna Johnston of Topeka, KS, and Jody (Eric) Budo of Eureka, MO; five great nephews, Josh (Mallory) Koerner of Hays, KS, Tucker Rhoades of Hays, KS, Donovan and Kaiden Colby of Ellis, KS, and Brett Rhoades of Hays, KS; four great nieces, Cheyenne Rhoades of Hays, KS, Lindsey and Hannah Johnston of Topeka, KS, and Zoey Budo of Eureka, MO; one great-great niece, Carter Koerner of Hays, KS.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Carolyn Rhoades; and her sister-n-law, Polly Rhoades.

 </figure>Donna Jean “DJ” Rhoades, age 59 of Hays, Kansas passed away in her home on June 17, 2020. She was born to parents David and Faith Rhoades on January 26, 1961 in WaKeeney, Kansas. She grew up as the youngest of three children and attended Trego Community High School. She then attended Fort Hays State University where she graduated with a degree in communications. Donna was an avid writer of several short stories, plays, and manuscripts. While attending Fort Hays State University, she had the honor of having one of her plays performed by the theatre department. She also wrote several blogs on her favorite band, the Beach Boys. One of her most treasured projects was the cookbook of family recipes she finished putting together just a few short months ago called “Conversations by the Old Country Stove.” This “labor of love” is a testament to her ability to create a masterpiece that will be cherished for years to come. From her love of the Yankees to her love for the weird, unique, and unusual, Donna was one of a kind. If you knew Donna, then you would know that she was extremely smart, and you did not stand a chance of beating her at Jeopardy or Trivial Pursuit. Her birds were the highlight of her life, and if you went to visit her, she may have greeted you with the Vulcan salute. Halloween will not be the same without her tales of ghosts and goblins, witches, and wizards, or Ardath Bey as our guide on the Ghost Train. Donna is survived by her brother, Charles “Chuck” Rhoades; her nephew, Chris (Leah) Rhoades of Hays, KS; three nieces, Jennifer (Jason) Colby of Ellis, KS, Shauna Johnston of Topeka, KS, and Jody (Eric) Budo of Eureka, MO; five great nephews, Josh (Mallory) Koerner of Hays, KS, Tucker Rhoades of Hays, KS, Donovan and Kaiden Colby of Ellis, KS, and Brett Rhoades of Hays, KS; four great nieces, Cheyenne Rhoades of Hays, KS, Lindsey and Hannah Johnston of Topeka, KS, and Zoey Budo of Eureka, MO; one great-great niece, Carter Koerner of Hays, KS.She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Carolyn Rhoades; and her sister-n-law, Polly Rhoades. At Donna’s request, cremation was chosen with no services will be held. June 20, 2020 in Goodland, KS.&nbsp; A celebration of Mike's life will occur 
at a later date.&nbsp; Cremation under the direction of Brock's-Keithley
