Ina Mae Slough

Ina Mae Slough (Horton) died May 16th at Riderwood Village in Silver Spring, MD.

Born May 23, 1931 in Larned, Kansas, Ina was just a week shy of her 89th birthday.  Ina is survived by her sister, Zelma Ann Hanna, and predeceased by her sister Mary Katherine Cunningham, brothers Stanley Dean Horton, and Allen Dwayne Horton, and her parents Thomas and Goldie Horton.

Ina married Sammy Slough on December 30th, 1953 in Larned, Kansas. From her marriage Ina had three children. Ina is survived by her daughter Debra Nusbaum and son Sammy Slough Jr, and predeceased by her son Gary Slough. Ina is also survived by five grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Ina graduated from Grace Hospital School of Nursing in Hutchinson, KS in 1953. She worked as a Registered Nurse throughout her years while living in Kansas, Delaware, Maryland, and California.

Ina loved to cook, embroider, and read. She was an active member of the Methodist Church everywhere that she lived, and worked as a volunteer at various hospitals.

Memorial Service will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, September 19th at Beckwith Mortuary Chapel and live streamed via Facebook Live, with Pastor Tricia North presiding.  Inurnment will follow in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Zook, KS. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Larned United Methodist Church or the Zook Community Building, both in care of Beckwith Mortuary, P.O. Box 477, Larned, KS 67550
