Sharon LaVonne Hattig, 83, passed away Monday, November 16, 2020, at Parkview Care Center, Osborne, KS.
Sharon
was born September 10, 1937, in North Loup, NE, the daughter of Howard
and Edna (Baker) Preston. Sharon enjoyed several hobbies, one was
collecting rabbits, she also loved the Nebraska Huskers and Nebraska was
one of her favorite places to go. She also loved watching Cops, there
was not a Saturday night where she was not in front of the TV doing so.
You might of thought Sharon’s favorite color was red because she liked
to wear the color so much, but she loved purple. A soft, light purple.
She loved all the animals she ever had throughout her life, even a
donkey called Dude that she fed a chocolate pudding cup too everyday.
However, her love for her pet Pekingese Dee Dee was the greatest. She
spent many hours of her life frying beef stew for Dee Dee. She believed
in angels and knew that she would once see Dee Dee again.
Sharon
worked at Red Field for quite some time of her life, where she made
military night vision scopes. She would also shoot military guns and was
known as one of the best sharp shooters around. Later in life, she
worked as a CNA taking care of the mentally handicapped. She enjoyed
spending time with them, they always listened to her and enjoyed her
company.
She was preceded in death by her
parents, husband Earl, son Russell Dale Geter, sister Shirley Phillips,
two brothers, Joe and Jim Preston and a grandson Randy Chad Schamp.
Sharon
is survived by two daughters, Dovie (Randy) Schamp of Gaylord, Cindy
(Skelly) Frank of Minneapolis; daughter-in-law Carol Geter of Liberty,
MO; former husband Wylie Post Geter of Las Vegas; granddaughters
Kristine (Rob) Wright of Aurora, CO, Desiree (Rob) Runquist of El
Dorado, KS, Krystle (Chris) Eakin of Phillipsburg; grandsons David
(Meghann) Geter of Kansas City, MO, Chris Geter of Kansas City, MO,
Shane (Melissa) Schamp of Galva, KS, Kyle Schamp of Gaylord; twelve
great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Cremation
has taken place; a celebration of Sharon's life will be announced at a
later date. Memorials may be given to the Sharon L. Hattig Memorial
Fund and can be sent in care of All Faiths Funeral Chapel, 113 S.
Madison St., Smith Center, KS 66967.
