William “Bill” Anthony Phillips, 47, passed away on November 5, 2020, at 
St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City, Kansas from complications of 
COVID-19. He was born January 15, 1973, at the Sheridan County Hospital 
in Hoxie, Kansas to Charles Robert Phillips, Sr. and Rose Marie (Becker)
 Phillips. 
 Bill was raised in Menlo, Kansas. He attended twelve years at 
Golden Plains School in Rexford and Selden, where he graduated in 1991. 
 He then went on to auto body school at the Vo-Tech in Goodland, Kansas.
 After school, he came to work in Menlo for his father. 
 Bill had an avid streak for circle track racing which he loved. 
After his father died in 1998, Bill worked at several different places. 
 He then decided to go to NASCAR Technical school in North Carolina. 
Following his graduation, he moved to Garden City to work for Western 
Motors, and to be with the love of his life Mandy Fine. They were 
married on June 27, 2009. After their marriage, Bill adopted Mandy’s 
daughter Aspen. Bill and Mandy have fostered many children over the 
years and in 2019 adopted James Robert Anthony Phillips. 
 While working at Western Motors, Bill achieved all of his 
certifications through Chevy. His hobbies include building race cars 
and derby cars, and he was always working on ways to make things easier 
for their daughter Aspen. Bill also loved riding motorcycles, going on 
poker runs, and creating things with his vinyl printer for friends and 
family. 
 He is survived by his wife Mandy; a daughter Aspen Phillips; son 
James Phillips all of the home; his mother Rose Phillips of Colby, 
Kansas; a brother Charles Phillips, Jr. and wife Sherry of Oakley, 
Kansas; his mother-in-law Sandy Fine of Garden City; a nephew Noah 
Phillips of Hays, Kansas; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Bill is 
preceded in death by his father Charles Robert Phillips, Sr., and his 
grandparents Leo &amp; Aline Becker and Barbara Rose Phillips. 
 A Memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, November
 14, 2020 at the First Southern Baptist Church in Garden City with 
Pastor Jeff Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow at Valley View 
Cemetery in Garden City. There will be no calling hours. The family 
suggests memorials given to the Shriner’s Burn Center in Galveston,

William 'Bill' Anthony Phillips

Arthur H. Roberts, 84, died Wednesday, March 4, 2020 at Lane County Hospital in Dighton, Kansas.

He was born on February 14, 1936 in Nashville, Tennessee the son of 
James Clough and Margaret Elizabeth (Street) Roberts. He moved to 
Fowler, Kansas in 1971 from Wichita, Kansas where he resided until 
moving to Dodge City, Kansas in 1982. He worked for West Plains Energy 
until the closing of the Dodge City Office. Upon retiring from the 
electric company became a realtor for Coldwell Banker.&nbsp; After retiring 
for a second time, he filled his time working at the United Wireless 
Arena greeting patrons at the elevator.

Art was very active throughout his whole life, while living in 
Fowler, he was an active member of St Augustine’s Church in Meade 
Kansas.&nbsp; Upon closing of that parish, he became a member of St. 
Cornelius Episcopal church in Dodge City. He was active with the 4-H 
club in Meade County, helping with various livestock and cooking 
projects with his children, Arthur was always an avid chef throughout 
his life. After relocating to Dodge City, he became involved with the 
Carnegie art center for many years.

Survivors include: his 3 daughters, Dawn Guenthner, North 
Carolina/West Virginia, Jennifer Whipple and husband Layton, Beeler, 
Kansas, and Lisa Sauls and husband Larry, Texhoma, Oklahoma; a son, 
David Roberts, Elizabeth, Colorado; a sister, Kay Toft, Cincinnati, 
Ohio; 7 Grandchildren; Michael Chinn, Hutchinson, Kansas, Margret 
Guenthner, Branson, Missouri, Sydney Horacek and husband Dustin, 
Spearville, Kansas, Ayden Whipple, Beeler, Kansas, Jami Forgey and 
husband Thomas, Walsh, Colorado, Kati Alexander, Hilo, Hawaii, and Ryan 
Sauls, Texhoma, Oklahoma; and 6 Great Grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, James C. Roberts Jr., and a great grandson, Gunnar Paxton Chinn.

Memorial service will be at 11:00 am Saturday, November, 14, 2020 at 
St. Cornelius Episcopal Church in Dodge City with Fr. John Seatvet 
officiating. Burial will be at a later date in the Beeler Cemetery, 
Beeler, Kansas. Friends and family may sign the register on Friday from 
5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Ziegler Funeral Chapel with the family present.

Patricia A. Brown, 83, Hays, died Friday, November 6, 2020 at Ellis Good Samaritan Society.

She was born February 14, 1937 in 
Newark, New Jersey, the daughter of Howard and Dorothy (Lee) Sprague.&nbsp; 
She graduated from high school in Manahawkin, New Jersey.&nbsp; In 1954 she 
was united in marriage to Paul A. Brown in Barnegat, New Jersey.&nbsp; He 
preceded her in death on October 2, 2008.&nbsp; Patricia was kindhearted, 
putting other people’s needs before her own, and she loved spending time
 with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Survivors include a son: Shane Brown of
 Marysville, a daughter: Patti Brown of Hays, eight grandchildren: 
Jackalyn Brown and Cheyenne Brown, both of Hays, Caleb Snow of Norton, 
Joseph Brown and Heather Brown, both of Marysville, Kimberly Cazella of 
Manhattan, Paul Brown of Wichita, and Rebekah Schukman of Springfield, 
MO, and eight great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her

Patricia A. Brown

Claude L. Keeler Jr., 95, passed away November 8, 2020. He was born 
September 8, 1925, at Seward, to Claude L., Sr. &amp; Iva Mary (Wetig) 
Keeler. He married Georgalee Ann Sallee, September 24, 1949, at St. John.
 She died December 23, 2019.

A Great Bend resident since 1987, Claude previously lived in Russell 
and Claflin. He worked in the oil field supply industry as a sales 
manager for many years. He was a member of Prince of Peace Parish at St.
 Patrick Catholic Church and the V.F.W. Post #6240, Russell.

Survivors include, a son, Raymond Keeler and wife Colette of Great 
Bend; and a daughter, Susan Keeler of Tempe, Ariz.; daughter-in-law, 
Barbara Keeler of Tucson, Ariz.; five brothers, Donald Keeler, Charles 
Keeler and Larry Keeler, all of Great Bend, Marvin Keeler of Salina and 
Ivan Keeler of Colorado City, Colo.; two sisters, Connie Eilts, and 
Marilyn Luenberger-Frank, both of Great Bend; four grandchildren, Tina 
Keeler (Charlie Bird), Tammy (Mike) Steinert, Patrick Keeler, and 
Brittany (Kyle) Aungst; and three great grandchildren, Ashlynn and

Claude L. Keeler Jr.

Jolene Kay Roe was born on May 29, 1950, to Don and Ardis Roe. She passed away on November 7th, 2020, in Lincoln, Nebraska. 
 Jolene grew up in Oberlin and attended Oberlin Elementary School and
 Decatur Community Junior/Senior High School. She graduated in 1968, and
 then went to work for the phone company in McCook, Nebraska.

She 
married Jerry Fortin on December 28th, 1969. They made their home in 
Oberlin. To this union, four children were born, Kevin, Daren, Kristi, 
and Corey. She worked as a nurse’s aide at the Good Samaritan Center 
after getting married. As the kids grew up, she worked as the office 
manager at the Oberlin Livestock Auction. 

Jolene loved the Lord and was a
 member of the Oberlin Covenant Church where she was a deacon, taught 
Sunday school and held many other church duties. She was a wonderful 
mother and homemaker, and she loved to cook. Family was everything to 
her, and on most Sundays, everyone would gather at Grandma Ardis’ house 
for dinner, games and cards. She followed her kids in every school 
activity and especially enjoyed attending sporting events and music 
programs. She was a leader of the Stick-To-It 4-H club numerous times 
during the family’s 20-year involvement with the club. She loved 
birthdays and holidays, and each event was celebrated in a special way. 
Her nine granddaughters were the light of her life, and she followed 
them in many activities as well. 
 She was preceded in death by her father, Donald Roe.

She is survived
 by her husband, Jerry, Oberlin, KS; mother, Ardis Roe, Oberlin, KS; 
brother, Larry Roe (Peggy), Oberlin, KS; sisters, Carol Manning (Jerry),
 Derby, KS and Donna Spresser (Robert), Lansing, KS; sons, Kevin Fortin

Jane Gaynell Smith, 70, passed away November 8, 2020, at her home in 
Great Bend.&nbsp; She was born July 30, 1950, in Great Bend to Melvin and 
Glenna (Bardel) Butherus.

Jane, a lifetime resident of Great Bend, was a desk clerk at Best 
Western Angus Inn and enjoyed Hallmark movies, cheering on the Denver 
Broncos, and above all, time spent with her grandchildren.

Survivors include two daughters, Terry Bieberle and Kelly Henry and 
husband Raymond all of Great Bend; and three grandchildren, Meagan 
Henry, Justin Henry and Hannah Sexton.

Memorial services will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday, November 13, 2020, 
at Bryant Funeral Home, with Rev. Adam Wutka presiding.&nbsp; Inurnment will

Margaret Lee Inloes died Friday morning November 6, 2020, at the Gove County Long Term Care Facility.

She was born on the Lewis family farm in Smith County, Kansas November 29, 1922, the first born of Walter M. and Lelah I. Lewis. She graduated from Brewster High School in 1940 and prepared to be a teacher by attending Fort Hays State College for two years.&nbsp; While teaching in Quinter she met a young farmer Winfred Inloes.&nbsp; They married December 22, 1944, on Winfred’s boot leave from the Navy. Winfred and Margaret Lee began farming with Winfred’s parents upon the completion of his service. &nbsp;

A deep faith and belief in God undergirded all of Margaret Lee’s days.&nbsp; She was committed to the Quinter Church of the Brethren and participated fully in the life of the congregation.&nbsp; M. Lee considered her five children one of her greatest blessings.&nbsp; She loved farming alongside W.D. in the fields and with the cattle and sheep.&nbsp; Some of her special women friends belonged to the Gyne-Fealti Club. &nbsp; She considered many younger friends to be ‘one of her kids’ or grandkids.&nbsp; Margaret Lee was a loyal and compassionate friend.&nbsp;

Preceding her in death was her husband Winfred, and great grandson Caleb Bonde.

Survivors are her five children:&nbsp; Sharon (Keith) DuBois, Quinter; Charlotte (Edwin) Courtney, Hot Springs, Arkansas; Dana Inloes, Paola, Kansas; Dorothy (Jerry) McIntosh, Wichita, Kansas; David (Beverly) Inloes, Paola, Kansas; twelve grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren, one great, great grandchild.&nbsp; Margaret Lee’s sister, Lorna May Stoner, Lawrence, Kansas, two nephews, two nieces and their families also survive.

Visitation will be Thursday, November 12, 2020, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Quinter Church of the Brethren with the funeral service to follow at 1:00 PM. Burial will take place at Baker Township Cemetery.

Margaret Lee Inloes

Willie G. Peters was born in Topeka, KS on August 24, 1938, and passed away on November 6, 2020, in Oberlin, KS.
 He was raised on the family farm in Red Willow County, NE. Willie 
was a farmer by trade and had many other passions in his life. He loved
 riding horses and motorcycles, hunting, watching football, John Wayne 
movies, and flying. He took great interest in playing cards, usually 
pitch at the sale barn or the Elks Club. He also enjoyed driving his 
semi-truck to haul cows, hay, or anything else to make extra money. 
 Willie learned how to fly at a young age and worked as a spray pilot
 shortly after obtaining his commercial pilot license. His favorite 
airplane was the yellow Super Cub. Willie's friends and family have 
fond memories of flying with him. Those flights usually included coyote
 hunting, checking cows, or observing the farm from the lowest altitude 
possible.
 Willie's favorite color was red, and he believed everything was 
better in red; with the exception of his John Deere green tractors. 
Willie worked hard and played hard. He had a stroke at the age of 62 
while Elk hunting in the Colorado Rocky Mountains. Willie continued to 
work and live on the farm for as long as his health would allow him. In
 recent years, he was cared for at the nursing home, where COVID-19 
ended his life.
 Willie is survived by two sons: Rick Peters of Elfrida, AZ, and 
Randy (Lynda) Peters of Oberlin, KS; one daughter: Suzanne Close (Craig)
 of Pensacola, FL; nine grandchildren: Travis, Justin (Erin), CJ 
(Jenny), Caleb (Kelsey), Garrett (Amie), Toby (Vanessa), Nolan (Elisha),
 Jillian (Brandon), and Braden; and eighteen great grandchildren with 
two more on the way. Also surviving Willie are his sister, Jane 
Pennock, and numerous other relatives and friends.
 Preceding Willie in death are his parents, Cloyd and Naomi Peters; 
an infant brother, Sheldon; and a daughter-in-law, Jill Peters.

Dolores A. Demel, 83, passed away November 8, 2020, Hays Medical 
Center, Hays.&nbsp; She was born January 4, 1937, in rural Great Bend, to 
Albert and Mary (Wondra) Jenisch.&nbsp; Dolores married Stephen Frank Demel 
April 23, 1957, in Odin.&nbsp; He died Oct. 22, 2014.

Dolores, a lifetime resident of rural Odin, was a farm wife and 
homemaker and was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, Odin.&nbsp; She 
enjoyed KU basketball, Kansas City Royals, NASCAR and playing pinochle 
with her family.

Survivors include four sons, Roy Demel and wife Gracie of Ellinwood, 
Daniel Demel and wife Darlene of Claflin, Darryl Demel and wife Brandi 
of Claflin and Randy Demel of Claflin; one brother, Raymond Jenisch of 
Hoisington; two sisters, Virginia Zink of Tecumseh and Lucille Kaiser of
 Redwing; 11 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.&nbsp; She was 
preceded in death by her husband, Stephen, and one daughter, Bonita 
Demel.

Due to pandemic concerns, a private family Mass of Christian Burial 
will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church in Odin, with Father Don 
Bedore.&nbsp; Private interment will follow at Holy Family Cemetery, Odin.&nbsp;

Dolores A. Demel

Eunice Anderson Olson Martin was born February 17, 1921 in Rawlins 
County, KS to Oscar and Vivian Anderson. She passed away November 6, 
2020 at Stormont Vail in Topeka, KS. 

She attended high school in Oberlin
 and, upon graduation in 1938, she began teaching grade school. Eunice 
went on to Fort Hays State University in the summers to further her 
education. She taught in a country school, Herndon, and Oberlin. 

Eunice 
married Lowell Olson and to this union three children were born. They 
farmed on a farm south of Herndon until their retirement when they moved
 to Oberlin. Lowell passed away in August of 1980. After that, she began
 working in the flower shop, which she loved. 
 In 1989, she married Glenn Martin. They did a lot of traveling, 
enjoying their trips to many countries, as well as their travels 
throughout the United States. Glenn passed away in January of 2015.
 Eunice is survived by three children, Candy (Ken) Rauhut of Garden 
City, KS, Connie (Bill) Robison of Littleton, CO, and Randy (Sharon) 
Olson of Oberlin. She is also survived by 5 grandchildren: Mark (Tara) 
Claussen, Ross Rauhut, Kristy (Matt) Ostmeyer, Brent (Molly) Olson and 
Kerrie (Nick) Wahlmeier; 16 great-grandchildren; 3 
great-great-grandchildren; sister, Lila Thorson and stepchildren, Glenna
 (Rod) Copeland, Barry (Molly) Martin and Terry (Connie) Martin. She was
 preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Vivian Anderson; husbands, 
Lowell Olson and Glenn Martin; sister, Violet Holle and one grandson, 
David Claussen.
 Private family graveside services will be held at Oberlin Cemetery.

Eunice P. Martin

Ruth Zamora, age 45, died on November 6, 2020, at her residence in Leoti, Kansas.  She was born on June 20, 1975, in Tribune, Kansas, the daughter of Clemente Zamora and Lenora Rocha.

She was a member of the Christian faith and loved singing, dancing, cooking, jokes, smiling, helping others and being as generous as she could.  She was also known to many people as “Mama Ruth”.  Ruth also worked as a CNA, EMS, waitress and cook.

Survivors include - her two sons, Luis Valencia-Zamora of Hays, Kansas, David Valencia of Wichita, Kansas, seven siblings, Debbie Chavez of McPherson, Kansas, Suzy Zamora of Dodge City, Kansas, Lewis Zamora of Anchorage, Alaska, Thomas Samora of Honolulu, Hawaii, Anna Castor of Dodge City, Kansas, Miranda and Candice.  She is also survived by many family friends, nieces and nephews, and her two beloved dogs, Bella and Daisey.

She was preceded in death by her parents, step-father, Amando Rocha, two nephews, Richard Chavez and Zach Chavez, and one niece, Alisia Mills.

Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, November 11, 2020, at 10:30 a.m. at the Leoti Cemetery in Leoti, Kansas. 

Visitation will be on Tuesday, November 10, 2020, from 12-8 at Price &amp; Sons Funeral Home of Leoti, Kansas.

Ruth Zamora

Norma Mae Gatterman passed away on November 5, 2020 at Pawnee Valley 
Community Hospital in Larned. She was born July 6, 1925 at Lewis, the 
daughter of W.R. “Ray” and Iva (Jarvis) McClaren.

Norma graduated from Lewis High School in 1943, and attended Fort 
Hays Kansas State College for 2 years. She was introduced to Thoran 
Gatterman in the summer of 1942 by a mutual friend. He left for college 
at Kansas State in the fall, and they corresponded until reuniting at 
Christmas. Thoran was called to active duty in World War II in February 
of 1943 and was station in England. After the war, they married in Lewis
 on April 21, 1946, and started their farming operation. To that union 
two sons were born. On January 2, 1967, Thoran died after a long battle 
with cancer.

Norma is survived by her sons Bryan Gale (Maureen) Gatterman and 
Bruce Thoran Gatterman; three grandchildren, Lindsay (Mitch) Walter, 
Anthony “Tony” (Misha) Gatterman, and Christina Gatterman; four great 
grandsons, Cal, Davis, and Archie Walter, and Beau Gatterman; a niece, 
Chari Shoemake; newphews Gary Boldt, David Cross, and Robert Cross; 
numerous cousins, and friends. In addition to her parents and husband, 
she was predeceased by her beloved daughter-in-law Ann Gatterman, her 
sister Dorothy Boldt, her brother Melvin “Buddy” McClaren, and an infant
 sister.

Norma had vivid memories and shared stories about the Dust Bowl, the 
Great Depression, farming with her father in Ulysses, Kansas in those 
years, and World War II. She farmed with her husband, was a homemaker, 
and later worked in Lewis as an office clerk at Cross Manufacturing 
until her retirement. Norma lived in Lewis until moving to Larned in 
2009, where she lived independently until her health began failing in 
2016. She then became a resident of Country Place Senior Living until 
the time of her death.

At Lewis, she was a member of the Lewis United Methodist Church, 
Women’s Society of Christian Service, an extension unit, Northside 
Coffee Club, and several bridge clubs. She was a proud member of the 
President’s Club of the Kansas State University Ahearn Fund. She 
attended church at the Larned United Methodist Church.

Her best times were with her husband, family, and friends, attending 
music and athletic events of her children and grandchildren, cooking, 
enjoying the companionship of her dogs, and traveling to and attending 
KSU football and basketball games. In her later years she was a faithful
 television viewer of all sports, but especially the Wildcats, Royals, 
and Chiefs.

Memorial service will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 24, 2020 at 
Lewis United Methodist Church, Lewis, with Pastor Bill Stapleton and 
Pastor Melissa Naylor presiding, service will be viewable via Facebook

Douglas William Eibert, 92, died on Saturday, November 7, 2020, at his 
home in Dighton. He was born on September 17, 1928, in Ness City to 
Francis Blair &amp; Jennie (Pettyjohn) Eibert. He married Donna Dee 
Matthies on November 6, 1949, in Scott City. 
Doug graduated from Ness City High School where he was an outstanding 
athlete. He participated in all sports and held the school pole vault 
record from 1945 to 1983. He attended Kansas State University where he 
was a member of both the football and basketball teams. He was later 
invited to the Chicago Cubs training camp for a try out. He worked on 
his family farm in Ness City, then moved to Dighton where he worked for 
Farmers Oil before beginning a 32-year career with Kansas-Nebraska 
Natural Gas Company as a service technician.

He was a member of the 
First Christian Church of Dighton where he served many years as a deacon
 and also was a life member of the NRA. He enjoyed his collection of 
rocks, arrowheads, and shark teeth; as well as hunting, fishing, and 
being a coach wherever he was needed. 
He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Donna Eibert; son, D. Doug 
Eibert of Dighton; daughter, Deanne Graham of Garden City; three 
grandchildren, Ike (Kayla) Eibert, Katerra (Michael) Rowan &amp; Breven 
(Maggie) Graham; and four great-grandchildren, Kasidee, Isabelle, Pyper 
&amp; Jackson Douglas. He was preceded in death by his parents and 
brother, F. Blair Eibert, Jr. 
Pastor Alana Chapman will be officiating the funeral service at the 
First Christian Church in Dighton on Wednesday, November 11 at 10:30am. 
Burial will be at the Dighton Memorial Cemetery. Friends may call from 
noon to 8:00pm on Tuesday, November 10 at Boomhower Funeral Home in 
Dighton.

JoLinn was born July 5, 1968 to Frank and Nadine Railsback in the Smith 
Center Hospital. She passed away November 7, at the Sheridan County Long
 Term Care Unit in Hoxie, Kansas. Jo attended school in Jewell/Randall 
through her junior year. The family moved to Mankato and she graduated 
in 1986 from Mankato High School. She then graduated from beauty school 
in Salina a year later.&nbsp; When she was working in Beloit, she met her husband, Marvin Kaus. 
They got married April 20, 1991 in Mankato. Shortly thereafter, they 
moved to the Hoxie area to make their home. To this union, two children 
were born; ShayLinn Marie and Tyler James. 
 From a young age, she was an outdoors person who enjoyed hunting and
 fishing with her Dad. She showed animals in 4-H for many years, sheep 
and horses were her favorite. She also loved playing basketball, 
volleyball and softball. Later in life, she loved nothing more than 
watching her kids grow up, supporting them in sports and other 
activities. She also enjoyed helping Marvin on the farm with the sheep. 
She would keep a log of every baby, their gender and which ewe they 
belonged to. She also loved visiting with people at her salon, Shear 
Cuts and at the long term care where she did hair for the residents. 
 Preceding her in death are her Grandparents, and her brother, Wesley Leon. 
 JoLinn is survived by her husband, Marvin Kaus of Hoxie, KS; 
children: ShayLinn (Drew) Zweygardt of Saint Francis, KS and Tyler 
(Kiersten Burger) of Hoxie, KS; grandchild: Zander Zweygardt; parents: 
Frank and Nadine Railsback, Mankato, KS; siblings: Janelle (Steve)

JoLinn Marie (Railsback) Kaus

Carrol D. Ribbing, age 73, passed away on Friday, November 6, 2020, at the Wichita County Hospital in Leoti, Kansas.  He was born on October 27, 1947, in Garden City, Kansas, the son of Eugene &amp; Geraldine Ribbing.  A resident of Leoti, Kansas since 1986 moving from Scott City, Kansas, he was a retired Truck Driver and was a US Army Veteran of the Vietnam War.

He was a member of the American Legion and was past commander and was a US Selective Service Representative. 

On July 31, 1966, he married Kay Sloan.  She survives.  On April 12, 1986 he married Marlene Ford Armstrong in Leoti, Kansas.  She survives.

Survivors include his wife - Marlene Ribbing of Leoti, Kansas, One Son - Timothy &amp; Diane Nichols of Wichita, Kansas; One Daughter - Tamara &amp; Shad Hipp of Garden City, Kansas; One Step-Son - Chad &amp; Linda Armstrong of Scott City, Kansas; One Brother - Darrel &amp; Marg Ribbing of Ashland, Kansas; 3 Sisters - Ellen &amp; Ellis Hahn of Lakin, Kansas, Kaye Cronin of Garden City, Kansas, Patricia &amp; Billie Swilley of Scott City, Kansas; 6 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his Parents and One Brother - Larry Ribbing.

Whispering Pines in Norton, Kansas. She was born December 27, 1933 in 
Oberlin, KS to Gilbert and Adelia (Holmdahl) Anderson. 

Eloise was raised
 in rural Oberlin and a DCHS graduate. After graduation, she attended 
Denver Business School. On August 31, 1952, she married Leland N. Smith 
at the Lund Covenant Church. They raised two children, Marie and Wesley.
 Leland and Eloise celebrated 67 years of marriage before Leland’s 
passing in 2019.
 Eloise worked as a secretary, bookkeeper, and a School Board Clerk. 
She was a member of the Oberlin Covenant church and the Zeta Nu Club. In
 her free time, she enjoyed cooking, sewing, quilting, reading and 
nature rides around the farm.
 Eloise is survived by daughter, Marie Stapleton and her husband, 
John; son, Wesley Smith; grandchildren, Brian Smith, Lisa Johnson and 
her husband Gary, and Jason Warren, and great-granddaughter, Nichole 
Warren.
 She was preceded in death by her parents, Gilbert and Adelia 
Anderson; sister, Phyllis Klich and her husband Jim; brother-in-law, 
Clayton Smith; sisters-in-law, Melba Hartley, Theodora May Reber and her
 husband Johnny.
 Graveside service will be held at 1:00 pm Monday, November 9, 2020

Ethan Travis “E.T.” Mai, 56, Hays, died Friday, November 6, 2020, at his home.

He was born September 29, 1964, in 
Pensacola, Florida, the son of Jan Lawler and Elwood Mai.&nbsp; He was a 1982
 graduate of Russell High School.&nbsp; On August 31, 1999, he was united in 
marriage to Tracy Lynn Dinges in Estes Park, Colorado, and they 
celebrated 21 years of marriage.&nbsp; His family meant everything to him.&nbsp; 
He loved his wife dearly and was a very strong believer in God and the 
Bible.&nbsp; Ethan loved drawing, fixing up the house, working with cattle, 
horseback riding, and being very involved with all the things Peyton and
 Colton had going on.

Survivors include his wife Tracy of 
Hays, three sons: Colton Mai of Hays, Trenton Mai of Schoenchen, and 
Brandon Mai of Concordia, a daughter: Peyton Mai of Hays, his mother: 
Jan Lawler of Russell, his mother-in-law: Marlene Sloan and husband 
Howard of Hays, his father-in-law: Thomas Dinges and wife Susan of 
Schoenchen, a sister: Jana Mai of Urbandale, IA and her children:

A proud veteran, Kenneth served our country in the U.S. Army.&nbsp; Dorothy “Dot” Smith became Kenneths’ wife on September 18, 1957, in Mexico.&nbsp; They enjoyed 54 years of marriage until Dot’s death on February 3, 2012.&nbsp; Kenneth spent his life on the family farm until 1982, when he and Dot moved to town because of health reasons.&nbsp; They spent years there enjoying life.

Those left to mourn his passing include his son, Michael W. and wife Sirena of WaKeeney; five grandchildren, Michael H. (Jenny), Marc (Joey), Genna, Nicole, and Sheena; and ten great-grandchildren.&nbsp; He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; daughter, Ginger; son, Kent; brothers, Leon and Leonard; and two sisters, Ladonna and Clarice.

Memorial service will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 10, 2020, at Schmitt Funeral Home, WaKeeney.&nbsp; Inurnment and committal will be in the Kansas Veterans’ Cemetery, WaKeeney.&nbsp; There will be no visitation as cremation was chosen.

Kenneth Schneider

Olivia Rose Hamby, infant daughter of Sage Martinz and Joshua Hamby, 
was born on November 2, 2020, at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita, and 
then peacefully passed away in her father’s arms a few hours later.

She is survived by her parents, Joshua and Sage, and a brother, Ethan
 Martinz, all of the home; paternal grandparents, Ronnie Hamby and 
Katrina Anderson, and Janice and Daniel Lauber, all of Great Bend; 
maternal grandparents, Charlie Martinz of Great Bend, and Sara Martinz 
of Ellinwood; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, November 12th,
 2020, at the funeral home. Memorial service will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, 
November 13, 2020, at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home Chapel. Inurnment 
will follow in Hoisington Cemetery.

Olivia Rose Hamby

Kenton Keith Krehbiel, 71, of Colby, died Wednesday, November 4, 2020, 
at the University of Kansas Health System St. Francis, in Topeka, KS. He
 was born July 24, 1949, in Hutchinson, KS, to Walter and Dorothy 
(Goering) Krehbiel. 

Kenton started school at Pretty Prairie and 
graduated from Inman High School, in 1967. He then attended Brown Mackie
 College in Salina, where he met Sheila Nonamaker, of Cedar, KS. They 
were married August 21, 1968, at the Inman Mennonite Church. They lived 
in Kansas City for a time, where they both worked at KU Med Center, then
 Kenton managed King’s Food Host. In 1973, the couple moved to Colby, KS
 and bought Murphy’s Café, which they ran for one year. Kenton then 
worked at the Colby Super Market for 4 years, before beginning his 
career with the United States Postal Service. He worked for the USPS 
from 1975, until retiring in 2012. He served as the Goodland Postmaster 
from 1997-2004 and the Colby Postmaster from 2004-2012. 
Kenton was very active in his community. Growing up he was a member of 
the Reno County Thomadora 4-H Club and then was leader for the 
Tumbleweed 4-H Club, in Colby for 14 years, while his girls were members
 and continued to support the organization. He was a member of Kiwanis 
from 1974 until his death and held many positions at the state and local
 levels. He supported Colby Community College as a Trustee from 
1989-present and was a member of the CCC Endowment Foundation, serving 
many positions. He was a member of RSVP (Retired Senior Volunteer 
Program) for 16 years and volunteered for Genesis Food Bank. He was also
 a Trustee for the Pierre Henry Foundation, a member of Friends of 
Pioneer Memorial Library and supported the Thomas County Historical 
Society and helped with many of their events. Kenton was a member of the
 Inman Mennonite Church and attended the Colby United Methodist Church 
and Celebration Community Church. 
Kenton had many hobbies, including collecting baseball cards, coins, and
 ball caps, golfing, fishing and hunting. He enjoyed volunteering as a 
Scholar’s Bowl judge and showing his support at the various local high 
school and college events. He attended many of his grandchildren’s 
events also. 
Kenton was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law Steven Hanschu. 
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Sheila; daughters, Sharon 
(Michael) Hansen and Brenda (Adam) Inman; grandchildren, Jacob and Caleb
 Hansen and Avery, Brady and Colby Inman; sister Beth Hanschu, brother 
Kevin (Sue) Krehbiel, uncle Clarence Goering and numerous nieces, 
nephews, cousins and friends. 
There will be a drive-through visitation on the North side of the Colby 
United Methodist Church, on Sunday, November 8, 2020, from 5-7:00 p.m. A
 Funeral Service will take place at 2:00 p.m. Monday, November 9, 2020, 
outside the Colby Community College Cultural Arts Building. Masks are 
required and you will need to bring your own lawn chairs for the 
service. Burial will take place at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, November 10, 2020
 at the North Inman Cemetery, Inman, KS.

Florence "Flo" Rodriguez, of Colby, Kansas, passed away peacefully, in 
the presence of her children, in Hays, Kansas, on November 3, 2020, at 
the age of 74. 
Flo was born on November 6, 1945 in Lakin, Kansas. She graduated from 
Deerfield High School in 1963. She was a long-time resident of Colby and
 worked at Colby Elementary School where she was a Paraprofessional and 
will most fondly be remembered as a beloved cross guard. 
Flo was a devoted member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church and enjoyed
 her role as a regular lector and an avid volunteer. She also enjoyed 
her time assisting the elderly via hospice care. As a result of her 
generous spirit and great personality, she was loved by many and her 
influence will forever remain in the lives of all who knew her. Flo 
enjoyed spending time with her 17 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren 
and 3 great-great grandchildren. She also enjoyed traveling, gardening, 
thrift shopping, and Facebook. 
Flo is survived by her children, Eddie Rojas, Brian Rojas, Rina 
Brungardt, Adrienne Weigand and David Rodriguez; brother Tony Garcia and
 sister Frances Medina. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Timmie
 Hernandez, Mary Otero and Jennie Bribiesca; brothers, Curilio Silva, 
Murilio Silva and Vincent Gallegos and her mother Josefa Garcia. 
Visitation will take place from 1-3:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 8, 2020,
 at Baalmann Mortuary, Colby, followed by recitation of the Rosary at 
3:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m., on Monday, November 9,

Florence 'Flo' Rodriguez

Linda LoRee Hiser, 77, passed from this life on November 3, 2020, at 
Morton County Hospital in Elkhart, KS. Linda was born December 15, 1942,
 in Liberal, KS, the only child of Lloyd Homer and Ada Viola Fowler 
Hiser. Linda was the granddaughter of two early pioneer families in the 
area, Charley A. and Tamer Ella Fowler and George and Luella Hiser. 
	Linda’s childhood was spent on a farm about halfway between Guymon, OK 
and Elkhart, KS. She had many pet dogs, her special horse, Jip, and 
chickens. One year Linda was able to participate in part of the annual 
Point of Rocks Trail Riders journey to Guymon. She was a farm girl and 
loved living in the country with the wide open spaces and beautiful 
sunrises and sunsets. She also loved to go fishing with the family on 
the weekends, usually at Lake Carl Etling or Clayton Lake. In her adult 
years, Linda had many faithful animal companions also. Her special dogs,
 Chai and Sunday Mae, were an important part of Linda’s life. Linda 
took over the management of the family farm after her father’s death and
 was still involved with running the family business at the time of her 
passing. 
	Education began for Linda in the Guymon Public schools where she spent 
12 years. After graduation from Guymon High School in 1960, Linda 
continued her education at Panhandle A &amp; M College in Goodwell, 
graduating in 1964 with a degree in Business Administration. Linda 
became a high school teacher and taught English and Business classes for
 6 years in the schools at Weskan, Norcatur and Jennings, KS. Linda 
furthered her education at Fort Hays University earning a Master’s 
degree in Business Education in 1970. 
	Family history was of special interest for Linda and her Mother and 
they spent several years traveling to various states and going to the 
courthouses to find the actual records and original documents that 
related to their family genealogy. Linda had an amazing knowledge of the
 family history going back several generations and frequently informed 
other family members of the family stories and people that were in the 
family ancestry. 
	Seeing new places and traveling to far off lands was in Linda’s blood. 
Her ancestors had moved frequently to various locations and Linda felt 
her desire to travel came about naturally. While Linda’s Mother was 
still living, they traveled to Hawaii, Niagara Falls, the Pacific 
Northwest, and several countries in Europe. This was in addition to all 
the exploring around the United States that they had done in their 
genealogical travel searches. 
	After Linda lost her father, Linda continued to take many exciting 
trips and learned much about the cultures and customs of many different 
countries. Linda was able to explore and enjoy many trips with Dr. 
Perido and his wife and friends. Their travels took them to Antarctica, 
South America, Canada, Egypt, Australia, Europe and other countries. 
	Many adventures and travels also were made with Linda’s cousins, 
Donnita and Gary Wilson and LaVern Daniluk. The group traveled to Europe
 and took a couple of river cruises through Hungary, Germany, Austria, 
Czech Republic, Slovakia and Luxembourg. Linda was also able to tour 
France including Normandy where she was thanked as an American for 
defending France during WWII by the grateful French citizens. Linda 
really enjoyed visiting Paris and Prague. Other adventures took Linda 
to Alaska. Through Linda’s years of travel she was able to experience 
and travel to each continent except the Arctic. 
	The Elkhart community and Texas County, OK were home for Linda. After 
moving back to the Oklahoma Panhandle in the 1970’s, Linda became a 
member of the Friendly Neighbors Home Extension Club. She later joined 
the Coterie Club and loved being a member and the fun of being one of 
the Red Hat Ladies. She was also involved with the Elkhart Chamber of 
Commerce. Linda loved baseball and was one of the Elkhart Dusters most 
ardent fans. 
	Linda was a faithful member of the First Christian Church in Elkhart. 
Declining health kept her from attending as much as she wanted in her 
last few years. 
	Linda is survived by first cousins Ella Durham, Donnita Wilson, LaVern 
Daniluk, Ruth Harrington, Pearl Turner, Linda Taylor, Marjorie Stritzke 
and Lois Luellen. She was preceded in death by her Father and Mother, 
many aunts and uncles – Lenora Ferguson, Bertha Fowler, Wardie Fowler, 
Austin Fowler, Mattie Fowler, Lillian Pugh, Harold Fowler, Maude Kyte 
and Everett Hiser. She was also preceded in death by many first cousins
 – Charlie Ferguson, Glen Ferguson, George Ferguson, Jr, Alice Cooper, 
Mary Hill, LeRoy Ferguson, Paul Fowler, Wayne Fowler, Oneta Underwood, 
Alice Willis, Kenneth Fowler, Lonnie Fowler, Leonard Fowler, Homer 
Fowler, David Pugh, Vernon Kyte, Marcella Vanergriffe, Margaret Crafts, 
and Ada Kyte. 
	Funeral service for Linda will be held at the First Christian Church in
 Elkhart, Kansas, with Pastor Jim Cunningham officiating on Monday, 
November 9, 2020, at 2:00 pm. Funeral service may also be viewed on 
Garnand Funeral Home Facebook Live. Interment will follow at the 
Elkhart Cemetery. Visitation will be at Garnand Funeral Home on Sunday, 
November 8, 2020, from 2:00 pm until 6:00 pm.

Northwest, and several countries in Europe. This was in addition to all 
the exploring around the United States that they had done in their 
genealogical travel searches. 
	After Linda lost her father, Linda continued to take many exciting 
trips and learned much about the cultures and customs of many different 
countries. Linda was able to explore and enjoy many trips with Dr. 
Perido and his wife and friends. Their travels took them to Antarctica, 
South America, Canada, Egypt, Australia, Europe and other countries. 
	Many adventures and travels also were made with Linda’s cousins, 
Donnita and Gary Wilson and LaVern Daniluk. The group traveled to Europe
 and took a couple of river cruises through Hungary, Germany, Austria, 
Czech Republic, Slovakia and Luxembourg. Linda was also able to tour 
France including Normandy where she was thanked as an American for 
defending France during WWII by the grateful French citizens. Linda 
really enjoyed visiting Paris and Prague. Other adventures took Linda 
to Alaska. Through Linda’s years of travel she was able to experience 
and travel to each continent except the Arctic. 
	The Elkhart community and Texas County, OK were home for Linda. After 
moving back to the Oklahoma Panhandle in the 1970’s, Linda became a 
member of the Friendly Neighbors Home Extension Club. She later joined 
the Coterie Club and loved being a member and the fun of being one of 
the Red Hat Ladies. She was also involved with the Elkhart Chamber of 
Commerce. Linda loved baseball and was one of the Elkhart Dusters most 
ardent fans. 
	Linda was a faithful member of the First Christian Church in Elkhart. 
Declining health kept her from attending as much as she wanted in her 
last few years. 
	Linda is survived by first cousins Ella Durham, Donnita Wilson, LaVern 
Daniluk, Ruth Harrington, Pearl Turner, Linda Taylor, Marjorie Stritzke 
and Lois Luellen. She was preceded in death by her Father and Mother, 
many aunts and uncles – Lenora Ferguson, Bertha Fowler, Wardie Fowler, 
Austin Fowler, Mattie Fowler, Lillian Pugh, Harold Fowler, Maude Kyte 
and Everett Hiser. She was also preceded in death by many first cousins
 – Charlie Ferguson, Glen Ferguson, George Ferguson, Jr, Alice Cooper, 
Mary Hill, LeRoy Ferguson, Paul Fowler, Wayne Fowler, Oneta Underwood, 
Alice Willis, Kenneth Fowler, Lonnie Fowler, Leonard Fowler, Homer 
Fowler, David Pugh, Vernon Kyte, Marcella Vanergriffe, Margaret Crafts, 
and Ada Kyte. 
	Funeral service for Linda will be held at the First Christian Church in
 Elkhart, Kansas, with Pastor Jim Cunningham officiating on Monday, 
November 9, 2020, at 2:00 pm. Funeral service may also be viewed on 
Garnand Funeral Home Facebook Live. Interment will follow at the 
Elkhart Cemetery. Visitation will be at Garnand Funeral Home on Sunday, 
November 8, 2020, from 2:00 pm until 6:00 pm. Linda has asked that 
memorial donations be made to the following organizations; Guiding Eyes 
for the Blind, Morton County Historical Society Museum, Morton County 
Library, or Oklahoma Panhandle State University Rodeo Program in care of

Linda LoRee Hiser

Marcia Lynn Cochran, 77, of Norton, Kansas, passed away on Thursday, November 5, 2020, at the Andbe Home in Norton. 

Marcia was born in Norton, on May 6, 1943, to Lyle Walter and Helen Amelia (Belden) Cochran.  She grew up northeast of Norton on the family farm and attended Dry Creek Rural Grade School.  Marcia loved being on the farm, being outside and playing with the animals, especially her dogs and the pigs.  After her father passed away, they sold the family farm and moved to town in 1971.  After her mother passed away in 1993, she moved in with her sister, Geraldine.  Marcia idolized her sister and enjoyed the time living with her, having Cokes in the afternoons, watching television together, and most importantly, and helping care for Geraldine when she was sick.  Upon Geraldine's passing in 1994, Marcia found her new home at the Andbe Home.  Marcia truly loved it there and considered it "her" home and let it be known in the family.  The Andbe Home staff and residents were her extended special family.  

In her younger years, Marcia attended Grace and Glory Sunday School and the Trinity Episcopal Church.  With her mom, she attended many meetings and socials with the Happy Homemakers, EHU and the Sunshine Club.  

Marcia wasn't afraid to let her opinion be known in her own special way. She always had a grin and loved hugs. She loved her stuffed animals holding on to them when she watched television or when she went to bed.  Eagles and the American Flag were very important to Marcia and she loved that her family members were veterans so the 4th of July was her favorite holiday. She also loved praying hands.  Marcia's favorite singer was Elvis Presley and she loved listening to his music and from time to time could be heard singing along.  She spent many hours watching television and reading her TV Guide.  Marcia loved her family and friends and could always be counted on to make them smile. 

Survivors include:  her niece, Deborah (John) Lindenman, Morland; nephews, David Corns and Elvin Edgett, both of Norton; Michael Cochran and Carl Holmquist, both of Minnesota; great nieces, Stacie Minson, WaKeeney; Tamara (Roger) VanLoenen, Hill City; great nephews, Shawn (Melissa) Lindenman, Morland; Cory (Beth) Lindenman, Winfield; and Brent (Heather) Lindenman, Central City, Nebraska; five great-great-nephews and seven great-great-nieces; other relatives and many friends. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Geraldine Corns; brother, Lyle Walter Cochran; niece, Pamela (Corns) Edgett and her nephew, James Cochran.  

A Graveside service will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, November 7, 2020 at the Norton Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Andbe Home Resident Activities Fund in care of Enfield Funeral Home, Norton, Kansas.  Condolences may be left at www.enfieldfh.com
