Rosita Mae (Herman) Augustine, age 79, 
passed away Saturday, May 29, 2021, in Greeley, CO. She was born October 
6, 1941, in Hays, KS to August and Mary (Kisner) Herman Sr. She attended 
Ellis High School and married the love of her life Robert Augustine on 
June 7, 1958, in Ellis at St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

Rosita was a homemaker who loved 
cooking and baking. She enjoyed playing cards especially pinochle and 
spending time with her family. Rosita was a member of St. Mary’s 
Catholic Church.

Those left to cherish her memory are 
her five children: Stacy Befort (Steve), Ellis, KS; Robert 
(Bob) Augustine Jr. (Dorreen), Marlow, Buckinghamshire, England; Donna 
Behring (Craig); Flower Mound, TX; Lonny Augustine (Tina), Eaton, CO; 
and Kevin Augustine (Kathy), Billings MT; two brothers, George Herman of
 Abilene and Kenneth Herman(Ruth)of Topeka; 15 grandchildren and 11 
great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband
 of 44 years, her parents; a granddaughter; Chanel Augustine, 
great-grandson; Kash Dreiling; four brothers, Marvin, Paul, Ralph, and 
Augie Herman Jr. and three sisters, Mary Ryder, Matilda Markos and Ann 
Whitney.

Memorial Mass will be held at 2:00 p.m.
 on Saturday, July 10, 2021 at St. Mary's Catholic Church 703 Monroe 
Street in Ellis, Kansas. She will be laid to rest next to her husband in
 a private family burial at St. Mary's Cemetery in Ellis.

Lillian Locker, age 97, of Ellis, Kansas, died July 5, 2021, at Trego Lemke Memorial Hospital, Wakeeney, Kansas.&nbsp; She was born September 10, 1923, in Ellis County, Kansas, to Frank and Mary (Koerner) Weber.&nbsp; She married Joe Locker Jr. May 7, 1946, at St. Mary’s Church in Ellis.

Lillian was an accomplished seamstress.&nbsp; She made many items including wedding gowns and bridesmaid dresses.&nbsp; She also did house and business cleaning.

She is survived by her son-in-law, Tom McMahon of South Jordan, Utah; Son-in-law Paul Luea of Ellis; brother-in-law Lawrence Locker of Ellis; four grandsons, Sean McMahon and wife Ashleigh, Jason Luea and wife Samantha, Jonas Luea and Joseph McMahon; eight great grandchildren; Laura Berry, Laurenne Fraser, Zayn McMahon, Abby Luea, Teag McMahon; Jacob Luea, Keyan McMahon and Jonathon Luea; niece Jessica Smith and four nephews, Larry, John, Steve, and Tom Locker.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughters Pamela McMahon and Patricia Luea, and sister Amelia Weigel.

Ronald M. Chesney, 72, of Natoma, Kansas, passed away after an extended battle with cancer Monday, July 5, 2021, at the Hays Medical Center in Hays, Kansas.

Ronnie was born March 13, 1949, in Hays, Kansas. &nbsp;He was one of five sons born to Homer Bruce and Eileen (Meyers) Chesney. &nbsp;He grew up in Natoma and graduated from Natoma High School in the Class of 1968. &nbsp;He has lived all of his life in the Natoma area.

Ronnie worked for Master’s Oil Company in the tire department for over 20 years. &nbsp;He enjoyed working with his hands and was great with a welder. He also helped local farmers as a farmhand.

Ronnie enjoyed riding his motorcycle and spending time with his family and friends. He had a special love for horses, especially “Sonny Jo” who was with him for over 30 years. &nbsp;Ronnie always said “There wasn’t a horse he couldn’t ride”.

Ronnie’s surviving family includes&nbsp;two brothers, Larry Chesney of Natoma, Kansas and Earl Chesney of Natoma, Kansas; four nieces and two nephews.

Ronnie was&nbsp;preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Bruce Chesney and Everett Chesney.

Celebration of Ronnie’s Life will be held at 11:30 AM, Monday, July 12, 2021, at Natoma United Methodist Church. &nbsp;A private burial will follow the services. &nbsp;Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM to 11:30 AM, Monday at the Church with the family present to greet friends. &nbsp;

Ronald M. Chesney

On June 25, 2021, Nelda Marie Resley passed away peacefully in her sleep at the Main Street Manor of Russell.&nbsp; She was 95 years old. Nelda loved her family, many pets and living in her small town. &nbsp;

Nelda was born on November 23, 1925, in El Dorado, Kansas, the daughter of Forrest W. and Frances M. (Pritell) Leathers.&nbsp; She grew up in the El Dorado, Kansas, area until she was 12 moving to Oklahoma City, then to on to Russell, Kansas, where she was raised by her mother and aunt.&nbsp; She graduated from Russell High School Class of 1943, and after high school she attended Barton County Community College.&nbsp; She met, fell in love, and was united in marriage to Ralph William Resley on April 26, 1947, in Russell.&nbsp; From this union Nelda and Ralph were blessed with two children Roger and Linda. &nbsp;

She worked for the Home State Bank then Russell State Bank working as a bookkeeper and teller.&nbsp; Later she worked for the United Service Insurance Agency as an administrative assistant until she retired in 1972.&nbsp; She was a longtime member of the First Congregational Church.&nbsp; She was also a member of the Elks Lodge, V.F.W. Post #6240 Ladies Auxiliary, and the Russell Senior Center.&nbsp; She enjoyed sewing being a skilled seamstress, collecting sewing machines, bowling, and watching Kansas City Royals baseball.&nbsp; Most of all she was passionate about being a wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker and spending time with her large family. She and her husband Ralph worked tirelessly to provide opportunities for her children.

Surviving family include her son Roger Resley and wife Betty of Olathe, KS and daughter Linda Scott and husband Steven of Johnston, IA; Seven grandchildren Susie, Sarah, Stacey, Nicole, Michelle (Shawnee &amp; Olathe, KS), Jamie ( San Anselmo, CA) and Tyler (Des Moines, IA);&nbsp; 16 great grandchildren Sophia, Anthony, Sylvia, Savannah, Sydney, Ayden, Austin, Shaylee, Bodee, Briggs, Hannah, Carson, Emsley, Merryn, Malynn, and Brecklynn. &nbsp;

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband Ralph on March 30, 2015.

Nelda Marie Resley

Joyce Louise Niederee, 88, passed away on July 6, 2021, in her 
birthplace of Larned. She was born November 30, 1932, to Albert and Mary
 (Strecker) Schartz.

A Great Bend resident since 1960, Joyce worked at the Retired Senior 
Volunteer Program from 2008 until she retired in 2012 coordinating 
fellow volunteers to help those in need. She had previously worked for 
Wildegen &amp; Smith Attorneys, Mutual of Omaha and was a secretary in 
the Athletic Department at Barton Community College. She was a member of
 Prince of Peace Parish at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Altar Society, 
Medical Auxiliary, and PEO.&nbsp;

Joyce was most proud of her five sons who blessed her with many 
grandchildren and great-grandchildren. As her family grew, she was 
committed to keeping her own family traditions alive and building a 
foundation for her extended family to form enduring bonds of their own. 
When Joyce wasn’t present at one of her grandchildren’s many activities 
or praying for those who were ill at the hospital, she was often found 
tending to her roses, vegetable garden, and impeccably manicured lawn.

Survivors include five sons, Michael Niederee and wife Laura of 
Winfield, Dr. David Niederee and wife Cindy of Derby, Dr. William "Bill"
 Niederee and wife Robin of Great Bend, Thomas "Tom" Niederee and wife 
Dr. Laurie of Salt Lake City, Utah, and Dr. Mark Niederee and wife Myra 
of Wichita; a brother, A.W. "Bill" Schartz, Jr. of Larned; two sisters, 
Jane Bahr and husband Marvin of Kansas City, Mo., and Eileen Weiss and 
husband John of Lawrence; fourteen grandchildren, Amanda Eilders (Cole),
 Dr. Jessica Katzfey, DMD (Dr. Thomas), Hannah Holovach (Blake), Ben

Joyce Louise Niederee

Leland Dale Squier passed away peacefully on the evening of June 29th, 2021 in Asheville, North Carolina surrounded by his family. At the time of his death Leland was 73 years old. His death was a result of complications from an accidental fall.&nbsp; 
 
Leland was born in Ransom, Kansas, on March 23, 1948. Parents were Gale F. Squier and Ruby L. Squier. Surviving siblings are Gale D. Squier (with wife Kay in Lincoln, NE), Luella Barber (with husband Don in Hays, KS), and Vern Squier (with wife Chris in Bellefonte, PA).&nbsp;

He was married to Barbara Pritchett (Marshallville, GA) in 1976. Lee is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Barb Squier, his children; Michelle Allison (with husband Jason in Asheville, NC) and Bradford Squier (with wife Lindsey in Boulder, CO) and one grandson, Curran Squier.&nbsp; 
 
Lee was part of a family farming operation in the Brownell, Kansas, area.&nbsp; After graduating college, Leland moved to Atlanta, Georgia, to begin his family and his career as a geotechnical engineer. He and a fellow engineer formed a company in 1980. Leland retired in 2003 and the firm is still thriving.&nbsp; 
 
The family suggests helping farmers by donating to the Ness County Farm Bureau Association at P.O. Box 528, Ness City, KS, 67560 and/or celebrating Lee's love of food by patronizing a locally owned restaurant in his honor.&nbsp;

 </figure>March 23, 1948 - June 29, 2021Leland Dale Squier passed away peacefully on the evening of June 29th, 2021 in Asheville, North Carolina surrounded by his family. At the time of his death Leland was 73 years old. His death was a result of complications from an accidental fall.&nbsp; 
 
Leland was born in Ransom, Kansas, on March 23, 1948. Parents were Gale F. Squier and Ruby L. Squier. Surviving siblings are Gale D. Leland 'Lee' Dale Squier

Don M. Palmer, 76, of Topeka, passed away Monday, January 18, 2021.

He was born May 12, 1944, in Great 
Bend, Kansas, the son of Harold and Edith (Hunsley) Palmer. He was a 
1962 graduate of Hays High School, a 1969 graduate of Fort Hays State 
University and received a Master's Degree from Kansas State University 
in 1970. He was a Screaming Eagle member of the U.S. Army, 101st 
Airborne Division.

Don was employed by the State of Kansas Division of Workers Compensation, retiring in 2011.

Don married Janet Pechanec on April 1, 
1967, in Hays, Kansas. She survives in Topeka. Other survivors include 
two children, Jenny M. (Chris) Wilson of Overland Park, KS and Todd M. 
(Stacy) Palmer of Wamego, KS; three grandchildren, Noah M. Wilson, 
Zachary L. Wilson and Austin L. Wilson; and his twin brother, Lon R. 
(Ann) Palmer of Hoisington, KS; his brother, Paul E. (Sue) Palmer of 
Kansas City, KS; and his furry companions, Charlie and Lilli.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Douglas Palmer; and his sister, Polly Colony.

Don was an avid golfer, wishing he was 
related to Arnold Palmer. He loved Drum Corp International, had multiple
 collections, and after retiring, enjoyed the Covered Wagons motorhome 
group.

Honoring his request, cremation is

Don M. Palmer

David Ross Ward came into this life on September 13, 1949. He was the 
son of Max Griffith Ward and Norma Lee Sebaugh Ward. On July 2, 2021, 
he passed suddenly from this world to be joined with his heavenly 
family.
 Dave was the older brother to his sisters, Julie (Ken) Carter, 
Shelley (Patrick) McKenna and Lori (Terry) Wycoff. Maybe having little 
sisters is why he was such a sweet little boy. His teacher told that he
 was the only boy in first grade at Clayton grade school. The little 
girl’s feelings would be hurt if they didn’t get to sit by him so he 
would take turns sitting by each of them. He attended Jennings High 
School and graduated in May of 1966. While in high school, David was 
active in all sports and activities offered.
 After graduation Dave went to Fort Hays State college. When he left
 for college his dad told him, “Don’t let your school work interfere 
your education” He may have taken this more to heart than his parents 
expected. He left college in 1968 to join the Army during the Viet Nam 
war. He had lost his lifelong childhood friend to the war and felt it 
was his duty to give honor to him by enlisting and fighting for his 
country. Dave earned the rank of Sergeant, was awarded the Bronze Star 
with Valor and earned but wasn’t awarded the Purple Heart for wounds 
received in combat. 
 After returning from Vietnam Dave worked for Hackney Trucking until 
achieving his dream in December of 1973 purchasing his farm southeast of
 Clayton. Dave was blessed to have a mentor and friend in Wayne and 
Lilly Haney just down the road. He loved owning and operating his farm 
but loved ranching most of all. 
 Dave married Laura (now Gilhousen) in 1975 and welcomed into his 
life not just a wife, but a son, Gary Joseph (Little Joe) Lorimor. The 
following year in February of 1976 Dave became a father once again when 
Jacob Max and Jarrod Blaine were born in the Norton Hospital. Having a 
healthy son was great news, having two was both a blessing and a very 
big surprise! In December of 1977 Dave was blessed once again with a 
beautiful baby girl, Jodi Lee Ward.
 Dave was an active member of his community and his church. It was a
 rare thing for Dave to miss Sunday School or Church service. An active
 member of the Church, the American Legion, Norton Co. Honor Hunt, 
caretaker for the Clayton Cemetery, 4-H parent and supporter, and many 
other activities that gave him joy, he even served as mayor of Clayton. 
 When asked about taking on some of his ancillary responsibilities Dave 
would just grin and say “Someone has to do it.”
 He was an attentive grandpa to his eight grandchildren. The road 
trips to attend sporting events, programs and Grandparents Day were a 
part of being a grandpa he loved. Dave loved his grandkids and made 
every effort to attend whatever they had going wherever it was. 
 David passed from this life doing what he loved, being out among the
 fields, checking cattle and loving this beautiful country the Lord 
made. He liked his alone time. He lived his life his way and always 
counted his blessings for the love of family and friends.
 Dave was predeceased by his parents, Max and Norma Ward; his 
paternal grandparents, Ross and Stella Ward and Ross’s second wife, 
Gladys; and his maternal grandparents, Walter and Margaret Sebaugh.
 Those left to mourn and to celebrate his life are his children, Gary
 Joseph Lorimor II, Wichita, Jacob (Krisha) Ward, Maple Grove, 
Minnesota; Jarrod (Eugene) Ward, Brisbane, Australia, and Jodi (Chris)

Jose Felix LaRocque, 23, of Garden City, KS passed away on July 2, 2021, in Garden City from injuries sustained while working.

Felix was born in Guatemala on November 9, 1997. He and his sister 
Maria were cared for by their older brother Antonio, until they were 
placed in an orphanage in Guatemala City. David and Krista adopted the 
three children in August 2000, bringing them home to North Carolina. 
Felix graduated from homeschool in May 2016, and joined the rest of the 
family in moving to Kansas later that year. Felix married Yesenia Ochoa 
on July 20 2019.

Felix has always been an active, energetic young man, and enjoyed 
working with his hands outdoors with oil service companies and other 
excavation work. He enjoyed hiking, family time, eating out, and 
celebrating with friends and family. He cared deeply for other people, 
and dealt with tremendous burdens on behalf of others.

with the people he loved. He had been planning to get more technical 
training to improve his welding skills. With this in mind, the family

1976, she married Gary Richard in Alba, Oklahoma.

Donnia is survived by her husband, Gary; sons, Terry Brady of 
Phoenix, Arizona and Christopher Richard of Springhill, Kansas; 
daughter, Christina Bostick of Oberlin, Kansas; three siblings,&nbsp; 
Charlie, Robin Ann, and Kathy; eight grandchildren, including: 
Leviathan, Candiss, Cimarron, Karissa, Becky, Katy, and Patty Jo; and 
two great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and 
one sister, Sandy Countryman .

Pamela Jean Shuey, 66, passed away July 2, 2021, at Hays Medical 
Center. She was born February 6, 1955, at Great Bend, to Roger Dean 
&amp; Marion Jean (Fulkerson) Shuey.

A lifetime Great Bend resident, Pamela was a homemaker. She was a 
member of VFW Post #3111. Pamela enjoyed fishing, swimming and singing 
but especially loved spending time with her grandchildren.

Survivors include, a son, Adam Schridde of Wetumpka, Ala.; a 
daughter, Monica Zahn and companion Shawn Kaiser of Great Bend; four 
brothers, Rick Shuey of Tioga, N.D., Ronnie Shuey and wife Beverly of 
Great Bend, Roger Shuey and companion Leslie Hanson of Sunset Beach, 
N.C., and Joe Shuey and wife Darla of Manhatten; and five grandchildren,
 Sean, Brady, Miette, Andy and Catherine. She was preceded in death by 
parents; a brother, Bill Shuey; and a sister-in-law, Connie Shuey.

There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place. Graveside 
services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 10, 2021, at

1957, in Colby, KS, to Jay and Margene Griffin. 

Jim graduated from 
Colby High School in 1976 and enrolled in the Goodland Vocational 
Technical School, for auto mechanics. He then joined the Kansas National
 Guard. Jim was deployed several times over seas and served in Dessert 
Storm and Operation Iraqi Freedom. He received a ranking of E6 and 
retired after 31 years of service. Jim then returned home and started 
Griffin Plumbing, Heating and Cooling, a family business that included 
his sons and grandsons. Jim was a member and served as post commander 
for both the American Legion and V.F.W. He always had encouraging words 
and saw the best in people. 
Jim was preceded in death by his parents and son Eric. 
He is survived by his wife Kacy, of Colby; children, Amanda (Dustin) 
Trew, of Colby, Greg (Emily) Griffin, of Colby, Mitch (Carrie) Griffin, 
of Kansas City and Kiana Griffin, of Colby, KS; siblings, Janette Clapp

James 'Jim' Eugene Griffin

Larry Allen Towns, 71, of Colby, died Monday, July 5, 2021, at Hays 
Medical Center. He was born July 12, 1949, in Thomas County, KS, to 
Lawrence and Wilma (Kistler) Towns. Larry graduated from Colby High 
School in 1967 and Kansas State University in 1971, with a degree in 
Horticulture. He married Berna Wiens on April 13, 1969, in Colby. After 
Larry graduated college, they moved back to Colby to farm the family 
land he had cared for since the age of 15, when his father passed away. 
Larry went on to grow his farming operation and on the first day of corn
 harvest in 1985, he suffered a heart attack. This did not stop him 
though. Larry served on the Mingo COOP Board, Farm Bureau Board and was 
the president of the North Shore Cabin Area, at Cedar Bluff Lake. He was
 baptized at the Winona United Methodist Church. Larry enjoyed snow 
skiing, farming, fishing, lake time, and attending his grandchildren’s 
sporting events. 
He was preceded in death by his parents; stepfather, Paul Pabst and sister Laura Hansen. 
Larry is survived by his wife Berna; children, Tracy (Terry) Johnson, of
 Holcomb, KS and Travis (Carrie) Towns, of Monument, KS; grandchildren, 
Taylor and Tanner Johnson and Nathan Towns and siblings, Leroy (Jean) 
Towns and Lois (Larry) Struckmeyer.

Larry Allen Towns

Rylan Alexander Gier entered into the arms of his savior on Saturday, 
July 3,2021 at Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri at the
 young age of 14. He was born to Ryan and Sara (Fisher) Gier on June 22,
 2007 in Hays, Kansas.
 Rylan was an amazing and inspirational young man and lived his life 
to the fullest. He grew up in Sylvan Grove, Kansas and recently 
completed his eighth grade year at Sylvan Lucas Unified. Rylan loved to 
play sports with his favorites being football and basketball. He was a 
very busy kid and loved working on all sorts of things, especially his 
Legos. Even while he was sick, he could constantly be seen making all 
sorts of objects with Legos. It was one of his favorite hobbies and he 
was always excited to show off any project he had completed. His love 
for tinkering also benefitted him with his job at Frederking Seed which 
he obtained at the young age of ten. He worked on anything that was 
presented to him at work, and he really enjoyed his job.
 Rylan could always be seen with a set of pliers and his monkey boots
 - which he eventually grew out of! He was a very social and ambitious 
person who was always fun to talk to. He loved his family, friends, and 
his two kitties, Oliver and Skunk.
 Rylan’s life was a testament of faith, something that was very near 
and dear to him and which helped him through the most difficult parts of
 his life. He loved to go to church at Bethlehem Lutheran Church with 
his family. He was truly an inspiration through his faith, love, and the
 joy that he showed. 
 Although our hearts are weighing heavy during this difficult time, 
we can find comfort in knowing that Rylan is at peace in Heaven with his
 Lord Jesus Christ. We all have so many memories, stories, and wonderful
 times full of fun and laughter with him. Those are the things that we 
will cherish forever. He will always be remembered in love.

Rosa Lee Whitmer

Maxine Ann (Berls) Shipley passed away at the age of 88 on Friday, July 
2, 2021, at the Sheridan County LTC, Hoxie, Kansas. She was born 
December 22nd, 1932, in Leoville, Kansas to Joseph and Laura (Schroer) 
Berls. Maxine graduated from Leoville High School in 1951, and attended
 Nurses Training at St. Francis Hospital in Wichita, Kansas. She worked
 at both the Colby and Hoxie Hospitals. While working in Hoxie, Maxine 
met Ross Shipley, and they were married on February 25, 1954. Ross and 
Maxine lived on a farm 22 miles northeast of Hoxie for forty-three 
years. To this union, five children were born. Maxine was a dedicated 
mother and farm wife. She was a great cook and helped with the farm 
chores when needed. She also drove the school bus for several years. 
In 1997, Maxine and Ross moved to Hoxie.
 Maxine enjoyed traveling with her friends and family, bowling, and 
playing golf. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren,
 and great-grandchildren. They were her pride and joy. She was a 
member of St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church and St. Frances Cabrini 
Sodality.
 Maxine was proceeded in death by her parents, Joseph and Laura 
Berls; husband, Ross in 1998; sister, Mary Rose Griffin; brother, Larry 
Berls; brothers-in-law Rick Moses, Gerald Shipley, Howard Shafer, Bill 
Minium, Dale Woofter; sisters-in-law, Freda Shafer and Margie Minium.
 She is survived by her children, Cindy Zahner of Roeland Park, 
Kansas, Joella Bergman (Bob) of Minneapolis, Kansas, Lila William (Vic) 
of Overland Park, Kansas, Rick Shipley (Jeanne) of Hoxie, Kansas and 
Steve Shipley (Vanessa) of Centennial, Colorado; 15 grandchildren and 15
 great-grandchildren; brother, Jim Berls (Jan); sisters, Joyce Chaffin 
(Howard) and Linda Moses; brother-in-law, Bob Griffin; and

Maxine Ann Shipley

It’s nearly impossible to encompass all that this beautiful soul was.
 Danielle Dee Hoskins, born January 13, 1981, at Norton, KS, was a 
beloved mother, daughter, wife, sister, aunt and friend. Danielle passed
 away June 30, 2021, near Ellsworth, KS, at the age of 40. She will be 
missed greatly by her family, many friends and entire community of 
Ellinwood, KS, where she and her family resided. An amazing person taken
 far too soon.

Danielle grew up in Ness City and graduated from Ness City High 
School in 1999. She married Jonathan “Mickey” Hoskins on September 21, 
2002, in Lyons. She was co-owner of Mickey’s Appliance Repair and was an
 Occupational Therapist part-time at Achieve Rehab and Woodhaven Care 
Center.

Danielle was heavily involved in 4-H, loved gardening and the farm 
life, enjoyed a heated game of pinochle, going to Royals games with 
family, watching Shae pitch and run cross country, watching Grace in 
school plays, musical performances and dancing, and Lily in school 
plays, golf, reading her amazing stories and enjoying her art. Danielle 
would do anything for anyone and is already missed beyond words. But we

 beautiful children, Grace, Lillian and Shae Hoskins. Also surviving,

sisters, Crystal Hutchinson and husband Brian of Hays, and Mandy Norris 
and husband Josh of Ellinwood; a brother, Alan Goodrow of Ellinwood; her
 nieces, Aracely Hutchinson and Clementyne Norris; her nephews, Elijah 
Hutchinson and Owen Norris; her parents in law, Rev. Loy and Rhonda 
Hoskins of Andover; her grandmothers, Rachel Goodrow of Penokee and 
Phyllis Brandyberry of Hill City; and a large extended family and many 
friends.&nbsp;

Visitation will be held from Noon to 9:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 6, 
2021, at Bryant Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m.,
 Wednesday, July 7, 2021, at First Christian Church, with Reverend Josh

 Danielle Dee Hoskins, born January 13, 1981, at Norton, KS, was a 
beloved mother, daughter, wife, sister, aunt and friend. Danielle passed
 away June 30, 2021, near Ellsworth, KS, at the age of 40. She will be 
missed greatly by her family, many friends and entire community of 
Ellinwood, KS, where she and her family resided. An amazing person taken
 far too soon.Danielle grew up in Ness City and graduated from Ness City High 
School in 1999. She married Jonathan “Mickey” Hoskins on September 21, 
2002, in Lyons. She was co-owner of Mickey’s Appliance Repair and was an
 Occupational Therapist part-time at Achieve Rehab and Woodhaven Care 
Center.Danielle was heavily involved in 4-H, loved gardening and the farm 
life, enjoyed a heated game of pinochle, going to Royals games with 
family, watching Shae pitch and run cross country, watching Grace in 
school plays, musical performances and dancing, and Lily in school 
plays, golf, reading her amazing stories and enjoying her art. Danielle 
would do anything for anyone and is already missed beyond words. But we

Ronald Ray Hager, formerly of Norton, Kansas, passed away on Thursday, 
July 1, 2021, at the age of 84 years at Locust Grove Village, La Crosse, 
Kansas. Ronald was born November 14, 1936, outside of Dellvale, Kansas 
to his parents Harold E. and Golda M. (Heller) Hager. He attended school
 at Dellvale and later graduated in Clayton with the class of 1954.
 Ronald enlisted into the Army National Guard in 1959 and was 
discharged with the rank of SSG E-6 in 1964. On January 31, 1960, Ron 
married the love of his life, Helen G. Krauss in Norton, Kansas. 
Together they raised three children: Barry Hager (Karen) of Sedgwick, 
Kansas, Rhonda Karst (Richard) of Rush Center, Kansas, and Penny Otter 
(Stephen) of Sheridan, Wyoming.
 Ronald worked hard building two businesses in Norton, Norton 
Appliance and Furniture and Norton Hardware and Appliance. Ron did 
everything from electrical, plumbing, appliance repair and carpet 
installation. In his spare time, he farmed and raised livestock which he
 dearly loved. 
 Ron retired, spending time tinkering out at his "doghouse" as he 
would call it and enjoying his eight grandchildren and two 
great-grandchildren. He enjoyed playing pitch and reminiscing with his 
dear friends as well.
 He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Golda and 
sisters: Imojean Hoyt, Gladys Everett, Vanetta Olson and Phyllis Dewey. 
 Survivors include his wife and children; grandchildren: Wesley and 
Wyatt Hager; Katherine (Karst) Storie, Rayna Karst and Caleb Karst, and 
Brittany (Otter) Holmes, Andrew Otter and Alec Otter; his 
great-grandchildren, Addeline Otter and Zion Holmes. Surviving siblings 
include Phillip Hager and wife Mildred of Ark City, KS, Doris Strayer 
and spouse Lee and Mary Youngquist and spouse Jon, both of Beaver City, 
NE.
 Graveside inurnment services will be held 10:00 am Friday, July 23,

David Lee Schneider, 88, of WaKeeney, Kansas, passed away on July 1, 2021. David was born in Norton, Kansas, on February 8, 1933, to Abe and Ethel (Jameson) Schneider. He graduated from Norton Community High School and received his bachelor’s degree at Kansas State University. While at K-State he was a proud member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity.

David spent most of his career as a travel agent in California, Florida, Alabama, and finally, Hays, Kansas. After retirement he enjoyed substitute teaching, judging forensics, and taking tickets at local high school sporting events. He moved to WaKeeney in 2015 to be near family and enjoyed attending his great-nieces and nephews’ school events.&nbsp;

A world traveler, David enjoyed visiting new places and making friends everywhere he went. Of his many accomplishments, David especially took pride in being a part of the 1951 Norton Community High School State Championship basketball team, serving as a drum major for the Kansas State University Marching Band, and of course, his famous banana cake recipe that was a staple at family holidays.&nbsp;

David is survived by his nephews, David Schneider and wife Shelly of Leawood, and Dwight Schneider and wife Susan of Stockton, niece, Donnell (Schneider) Pfannenstiel and husband Dale of WaKeeney, great-nephews, Sam Schneider of Clinton, MO, and Abraham and Tate Pfannenstiel, both of WaKeeney, and great-niece, Gracie Pfannenstiel of WaKeeney.&nbsp;

David was preceded in death by his parents, brother Donald Schneider, and sister-in-law LaDonna (Veverka) Schneider.&nbsp;

Per his request a graveside service is scheduled at the Norton City Cemetery in Norton, KS, on Thursday, July 8, 2021, at 10:00 a.m.

David Lee Schneider

BLACKSBURG, Va. — Bonnie May (Rogers) Nelson died in Blacksburg, Virginia, on February 7, 2021, at the age of 83. She was preceded in death by her parents, Katherine and Arthur Rogers, and by her brother, Earl Rogers.

Bonnie will be missed and remembered by her sisters and brothers-in-law Jeanie and John Weber (Tulsa, Oklahoma); Marilyn and Larry Loop (San Antonio, Texas); and by her three children: Alan Nelson (Hays, Kansas), Anne Nelson (Eagle River, Alaska) and Amy Nelson (Blacksburg, Virginia), as well as her son-in-law, Tom Ewing, and grandchildren Cameron Nelson and Sinclair "Claire" Ewing-Nelson.

Born in Oakley Kansas, on May 14, 1937, Bonnie grew up in Hays, Kansas, where she graduated in 1955 from Hays High School as the valedictorian. In 1957 she graduated from Colorado Women's College and in 1959 she graduated from Fort Hays State College.

Bonnie married Roger Dean Nelson (also from Hays) in December 1958. She became an accomplished and globe-trotting homemaker, making a series of new cities and countries into comfortable homes for her growing family. After her divorce in 1991, she settled in Virginia Beach to be near her daughter, Anne, and put down deep roots in the community of faith and song surrounding Virginia Beach United Methodist Church and later the First Presbyterian Church of Virginia Beach. She continued to sing in the church choir and participate in Circle Rachel activities until the final year of her long illness. Last spring, she moved to Blacksburg to be closer to her daughter, Amy.

Bonnie loved shopping, travel and music. She was an accomplished harpist, avid bird watcher, and collector of fine china and stemware. Bonnie was a fabulous school teacher, successful travel agent and devoted mother. She will be remembered for her beauty, intelligence and keen wit.

Bonnie's Memorial Service will be on July 10, 2021, 10:00 a.m. at First United Methodist Church, 305 W 7th St, Hays. A coffee hour gathering of friends and family will begin at 9:00 am at FUMC, followed by the Memorial Service, Interment at Mount Allen Cemetery, and a reception at Smoky Hill Country Club.
