Robert A. 'Bob' Redger

Robert A. "Bob" Redger passed away on August 26, 2021, at KU Med Center at the age of 74.  He was born July 3, 1947, the son of Albert A. and Grace (Kumberg) Redger.  He attended Ashland Kansas schools graduating in 1965.  He attended Southwestern College Winfield before enlisting in the U.S. Army and serving in Vietnam from 1966-1968 obtaining the rank of SP5 (T).  

In 1970, he married Carol Jean Fuller and they adopted a daughter, Crystal. They later divorced.

Robert worked in the oil fields as a noxious weed director and a feed store manager before becoming the manager of the Golden Belt Co-op in Ellis, in 1991, retired in 2016. Robert was involved in his community, serving on several boards.  He was a member of the Ellis City Council, the Chrysler House, and the Chamber of Commerce.  He was a Quartermaster for the local VFW Post and was the treasurer for the Ellis United Methodist Church.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his daughter Crystal, his special friend Niki Bartlett, sisters Louise Lagerman (Mel) of Salina, KS; Carol Jackson (Mike) of Vega, TX; Diana Redger of Ashland, KS; brother David Redger (Linda) of Ashland, KS; Niki’s daughters Jenny, Amy, Lesley, and Betsy; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A celebration of life will be at 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 25, at 11:00 AM at the Ellis United Methodist Church with military honors. Cremation was chosen with private family inurnment at a later date.
