Gertrude
 Isabel (Householter) Breault, age 101.5, of Concordia, passed away on 
Friday July 23, 2021, at Mt. Joseph Senior Village, after a short stay.&nbsp;
 She was born on January 4, 1920, in Rice, Kansas to Debolt M. 
Householter and Hattie Evelyn (Cross) Householter.&nbsp; Her uncle, Dr. 
Hebert Doty, delivered her at the Rice home.&nbsp;

Gertrude
 graduated from Concordia High School in 1938. She then attended Emporia
 State Teacher's College for one year. After that, she moved back to 
Concordia and worked at the law firm of Stanford and Brummett as a 
secretary. The following year, she began working for Concordia Ice and 
Cold Storage Company as a bookkeeper for over a decade. In 1962, she 
began a career at Kansas Power and Light Company, where she stayed until
 her retirement in 1989.

Gertrude
 belonged to VFW Auxiliary, American Legion Auxiliary, Women of the 
Moose, Women’s Division of the Chamber of Commerce, Catholic Church 
Altar Society, National Association of Retired Federal Employees, Board 
Member National Orphan Train, Finesse Bridge Club, Delta Dek Bridge 
Club, Red Hat Society, and was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help 
Catholic Church for nearly 80 years. Gertrude received many awards in 
her lifetime including:&nbsp; 2011 Leon Gennette Lifetime Achievement Award 
for community service, held various offices in all her organizations, 
and volunteered countless hours to many worthwhile charities in 
Concordia.

Gertrude
 married LeRoy Sylvester Breault on November 9, 1942. They made their 
home in Concordia.&nbsp; To this union, five children were born:&nbsp; Anne 
Loretta Stone, Concordia; David Lee, Tallahassee, Florida; John Paul, 
Concordia; Dr. Mark Edward, Jamestown; Catherine Marie (Kevin) Harris, 
Beloit. She is also survived by nine grandchildren: Lori Samuelson, 
Denver CO; Bria Scott (Adam), Minneapolis KS; Dustin Breault (Dr. 
Dorothy), Concordia, KS; Bradyn Breault (Sheryl), Topeka, KS; Destiny 
Bowers (Brice), Concordia, KS, Trask Breault, Jamestown, KS; Paxton 
Harris, Hays, KS; Camden Harris, Hays, KS; Blayne Harris, Hays, KS; and 
one step-grandchild; Chad Harris (Megan), Dallas, TX. Great 
grandchildren are Alexa, Mason, and Elle Scott; Tierney, Teagan, and 
McKenzie Breault; Keygan and Miley Breault; Georgianna, Lollie Mae, and 
Minnie Bowers; Ziley Hope; and Colby Harris.

Gertrude
 loved reading, traveling, playing bridge, and volunteering around 
Concordia. She also enjoyed spending time with her friends and family; 
especially eating out and enjoying all sorts of desserts! Her favorite 
gift was receiving cards and she saved every single one.

She was preceded in death by her husband, LeRoy, parents Debolt and Hattie, and her infant sister, Patricia.

Funeral
 services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 29, 2021, at Our 
Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Concordia, Kansas, with Father
 David Metz officiating. Burial will follow the services at Pleasant 
Hill Cemetery in Concordia.

Visitation
 will be held from 1-8 p.m. on Wednesday, July 28, 2021, with a rosary 
at 6 p.m. at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home.&nbsp; Family will greet friends after 
the Rosary Service.

 Gertrude I. Breault

James R. Lofland, 95, passed away July 24, 2021, at Hospice House, 
Hutchinson. He was born April 7, 1926, in Stafford, KS, the son of James
 P. &amp; Leah (Keesling) Lofland. On June 18, 1949, he married Joyce L.
 Mohr in Wichita. She died October 5, 2019.

James lived most of his life in Great Bend. He worked for American 
Electric until he retired in 1986. He was also self employed with Jim’s 
Lawn Service and continued working his business into his 80’s. James was
 an active member and trustee of Central Baptist Church and a member of 
the American Legion Post #180. He always had a story to tell and anyone 
who met him most likely heard one or two of them. James was a veteran of
 the United States Navy, having served during WWII.

James is survived by his children, Janna Huschka and husband Kurt of 
Hutchinson, Jill Hopper and husband Derrel of Arvada,&nbsp;Colo., Jerry 
Lofland and wife Paige of Great Bend, and Jackie Goosen and husband 
LoWayne of Freeman, SD; his sisters, Darlene Unruh of Houston, Tex., and
 Mayme DuBois of Oberlin; 14 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. 
James was preceeded in death by his parents; his children, James Lofland
 and Julia Barnes; his brother, Arthur Lofland; and his sisters, Pauline
 Crowley, Alice Biskeborn, Letha Luther and Elise Hiss.

There will be no visitation, as cremation has taken place.&nbsp; Memorial 
services will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to Central 
Baptist Memorial Fund, in care of Bryant Funeral Home.

William Theodore “Bill” Francis passed away on Thursday July 22, 2021, at the Ellsworth County Medical Center at the age of 87.
 He was born in Lucas, Ks to Theo “Red” and Ethel (Searle) Francis on June 8. 1934.
 Bill graduated from Lucas High School with the class of 1952, 
shortly after he was united in Marriage to Twila Naegele on his Birthday
 June 8, 1952. The couple was blessed with three children: Russ, Karma 
and Glenda.
 He resided on the farm south of Lucas as a farmer and Dairyman for 
over 40 years. If he wasn’t farming or milking Cows he was traveling to 
farm machinery sales trying to find a “Good” buy or following sporting 
events. Some of his farm buying ventures was flying in his Cessna plane 
that he and his best friend purchased together.
 Bill also had a love for Music. He would grab his guitar and play 
with numerous country bands in the area. After retiring from farming, he
 pursued his singing with one of his dear friends and started a band 
known as “The Good Ole Boys."&nbsp; A few years later his daughter joined the
 group and they became known as B &amp; G Country.
 To those who knew him well, he was always willing to lend a helping 
hand and offer a humorous comment making people laugh and smile!
 He was preceded in death by his parents, Theo and Ethel Francis, one Grandson Clint Francis and a brother-in-law Paul Kelly.
 Survivors are Twila Francis of the home in Lucas; children, Russ 
Francis, Karma Habiger, Glenda (Mark) Buttenhoff of Lucas; sister, 
Almeta Kelly Sylvan Grove; four grandchildren, Jade Ward, Kayla 
McGinnes, Logan and Layne Buttenhoff; two great grandchildren, Chalee 
and Gage Francis.
 A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, August 6, 2021 at 10:30AM at the funeral home in Wilson.

Lifelong, Goodland, KS resident Robert “Bob” Anderson Bradshaw Jr., 84, passed away at this home in Goodland on Saturday, July 24, 2021.

Bob was born on July 15, 1937, in Goodland, KS to Robert Anderson and Caroline Alice (Ming) Bradshaw.&nbsp; He attended and graduated school in Goodland .&nbsp; On June 2nd, 1957 he married Velta Marie Farr in Raton New Mexico.

Bob was a lifelong farmer and rancher.&nbsp; He especially had a love for cattle, and was a member of the American Cattle Association.&nbsp; He also loved going to Cripple Creek, Black Hawk and the National Western Stock Show.

Surviving family includes his wife Velta of the home in Goodland, his children Cynthia (Mike) Hoelting of Kansas City, KS, Robin (Mike) Ginther of Overland Park, KS, Rod Bradshaw of Salina, KS and Debbie (Ronnie) Reed of Goodland, KS.&nbsp; He is also survived by his 7 grandchildren; Heather (Chris) Handlin, Michael Hoelting, Jr., Clayton Ginther, Ryan (Megan) Bradshaw, Tyler (Katelyn) Bradshaw, Marysa (Justin) McCartney and Austin Bradshaw, as well as 8 great grandchildren.

Robert 'Bob' Anderson Bradshaw Jr.

Bernice Amelia (Ruder) Unrein, age 92, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 17, 2021, in Overland Park, KS.

Bernice was born August 3, 1928, in Hays, KS, to Carl and Rosa (Rupp)
 Ruder and delivered by her future father-in-law, Dr. Gerard Unrein. 
Bernice grew up on the family farm south of Hays and her parents 
eventually moved to town when she was in high school. She graduated from
 Girls Catholic High School in 1946 and worked as a telephone operator 
until her first child was born.

Bernice met the love of her life, Francis Alfred Unrein, in high 
school and they were married on June 7, 1948, in Hays. They were happily
 married for 69 years until Francis’ death in 2017. To this union 
brought four children Keith (Sandy), Overland Park, Marybeth (Warren) 
Harwick, Ft. Worth, TX, Kevin (Jyl) Chanute, and Robin (David) Hagedorn,
 Mission.

Upon Francis’ graduation from the University of Kansas School of 
Pharmacy, job opportunities in Norton and Oakley brought Francis and 
Bernice back to North Central Kansas and eventually Francis purchased 
his own store, Unrein Drug Store, in Plainville, KS, their home for the 
next 59 years. Francis and Bernice owned and operated the drugstore 
until Francis’ retirement in 1991.

Throughout her life, Bernice was an active member of the Rooks County
 Health Center Auxiliary, volunteering in the gift shop, Sacred Heart 
Catholic Parish, and later Curè of Ars Catholic Church in Leawood. She 
was a devoted wife to Francis and mourned his loss every day. She loved 
being a mother but her role as a grandmother and great grandmother 
brought her the most joy. &nbsp;Bernice also enjoyed cooking, gardening, 
close friendships, hosting family get-togethers, embroidery, knitting, 
and making sure everyone had something to eat or drink (even in her 
final days.) You could often find Bernice and Francis on the golf 
course, relaxing on their patio, and watching the KU Jayhawks and golf 
on tv. Bernice loved and defended fiercely those close to her.&nbsp; With 
perseverance, she survived breast cancer, a stroke, moving to Kansas 
City in her 80s and embracing life after Francis’ death. She had a 
beautiful smile, joyful laugh, rosy cheeks and great hair. She loved her
 family, her faith and friends, but nothing compared to the love she had
 for Francis.

Bernice was proceeded in death by her parents, husband, Francis, 
brothers Marcellus, Alphonse, Julius and Norman, sisters Irene Munsch, 
Mary Rose Dreiling, and Alma Keaton, and son-in-law, Alan McClure. She 
is survived by her sister, Lorraine Arnold Cook of Denver, CO; her four 
children and spouses, and many extended relatives. Bernice was a loving 
“Mimi” to her grandchildren Lindsay (Jonathan) McPhail, Fairway, Kelly 
(Drew) Nicholls, Georgetown, Grand Cayman, and Spencer McClure (Erin 
Horn), Ft. Worth, TX. She was also the proud “Great Mimi” of great 
grandsons, Kai and Keiran McPhail, and great granddaughter, Astrid 
McClure.

Visitation will be at Curè of Ars Catholic Church, 9401 Mission Road,
 Leawood, Kansas 66206, on Tuesday August 3, 2021, at 10:00 a.m., 
followed by a rosary at 10:45 a.m.&nbsp; Mass of Christian Burial will follow

Phillips County resident Terry L. Kipp passed away at his home on July 22, 2021, in Long Island, KS at the age of 70.

Terry was born January 8, 1951, in Phillipsburg, KS the son of Sam and Lela (Weinman) Kipp.

Survivors include his wife Jayne Jarvis of Long Island, KS; son Adam Kipp of Phillipsburg; daughter Tara Marshall of Hays, KS; sisters Mary Jackson of Phillipsburg, KS and Becky Whitney of Prairie View, KS; and three grandchildren of Hays, KS.

 He was born in Lucas, Ks to Theo “Red” and Ethel (Searle) Francis on June 8. 1934.
 Bill Graduated from Lucas High School with the class of 1952, 
shortly after he was united in Marriage to Twila Naegele on his Birthday
 June 8, 1952. The couple was blessed with three children: Russ, Karma 
and Glenda.
 He resided on the farm south of Lucas as a farmer and Dairyman for 
over 40 years. If he wasn’t farming or milking Cows he was traveling to 
farm machinery sales trying to find a “Good” buy or following sporting 
events. Some of his farm buying ventures was flying in his Cessna plane 
that he and his best friend purchased together.
 Bill also had a love for Music. He would grab his guitar and play 
with numerous country bands in the area. After retiring from farming, he
 pursued his singing with one of his dear friends and started a band 
known as “The Good Ole Boys”. A few years later his daughter joined the
 group and they became known as B &amp; G Country.
 To those who knew him well, he was always willing to lend a helping 
hand and offer a humorous comment making people laugh and smile!
 He was preceded in death by his parents, Theo and Ethel Francis, one Grandson Clint Francis and a brother-in-law Paul Kelly.

Loris Dean “Bud” Hestermann passed away at the Good Samaritan Society, 
Atwood, Kansas, on July 21, 2021, at the age of 91. Bud was born on July
 22, 1929, on the farm north of Ludell, to Henry and Emma (Niermeier) 
Hestermann. Bud was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 
Ludell. He graduated from Atwood High School in 1947 and enlisted in the
 United States Air Force in December 1950. He served at Moses Lake, 
Washington and England, before being honorably discharged. 
On November 12, 1955, he married the love of his life, Betty Wicke. Four
 sons were born to their union, Thomas, Richard, John, and James. 
Bud was a rural mail carrier for over 40 years, from June 28, 1958, 
until October 29, 1999. Bud was also engaged in farming the family farm 
with his brother Fran, until 1984. 
Bud was a good-hearted soul who had a deep faith and love for God and 
family with his wife, Betty. He was a church elder for many years, sang 
in church choirs for decades and was active in the Lutheran Laymen’s 
League (now Lutheran Hour Ministries) holding several district and state
 offices. 
Preceding him in death were his wife; his parents; son John (1996); 
brothers, Harold and Edwin Holste, and Francis Hestermann; sisters, 
Irene Hart, Elfrieda Tobias, Laura McGuire, and Ruth Penzes; and baby 
brothers Gerhard and Herman Holste and Henry Hestermann. 
He is survived by a sister Norma Wegener of Norton, KS; sons, Thomas and
 wife Francine, of Hays KS, Richard, of Valley Center, KS and James and 
wife Roxane, of Valley Center, KS; daughter-in-law Deb Hestermann, 
Topeka, Kansas; grandchildren Jeremy Coulter, Hays, KS, Joshua

Shirley Marie (Leitner) Organ, 81, of Atwood, departed this life on July
 23, 2021 at Hays Medical Center in Hays, KS surrounded by her children.
 Shirley was born to Carl A. and Theresia E. (Kogl) Leitner on August 
22, 1939, at home on S. 6th Street, in Atwood, KS. She attended Atwood 
Grade School &amp; graduated from Notre Dame Academy, in Omaha, NE with 
the class of 1957. She received her Registered Nursing Degree from St. 
Anthony’s School of Nursing in Hays, KS, in 1961. Over the years, she 
worked at various hospitals and volunteered at the Red Cross for several
 years. Her last employment was Administrator of Rawlins County Health 
Department &amp; Home Health Agency until 2003. Shirley retired early to
 care for her mother, for 3 ½ years, before her death in 2006. 
Shirley was united in marriage to Daryl Lee Organ on June 2, 1962, at 
Sacred Heart Catholic Church, in Atwood. They lived in Hays, KS until 
Daryl’s’ graduation from Fort Hays State University in 1965. They moved 
to Kansas City, KS and eventually purchased their first home in 
Independence, MO where they resided until 1980, at which time they moved
 back to Atwood, KS. 
To this union four children were born: Michele Ann Krankenberg (Terry), 
of Springhill, KS; Nicole Marie Watkins (Bill), of Lenexa, KS; Danielle 
Kay Prochazka (Marcus), of Greeley, CO and Daren Lee Organ (Dian), of 
Colby, KS. After the death of her husband in December 1981, Shirley was 
busy raising her children and juggling all of their activities 
throughout the years. She was blessed with 7 grandchildren, Jamie Hart, 
Tye Krankenberg, Arianne Prochazka, Dalaan Organ, Drake Watkins, Gracie 
Prochazka and Ben Watkins, and 5 great-grandchildren, Mackenzie Hart, 
Cayson Hart, Connor Hart, Brooks Krankenberg and Kennedy Krankenberg. 
Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the light of her life and
 she loved their visits and seeing their pictures and activities on 
Facebook. Everyone looked forward to her daily texts over the past 5 
years. Her daily telephone calls or visits with her brother Kenneth were
 a special part of her day. She loved reading, including her daily 
prayers, staying connected on Facebook, Bridge Club, Red Hatters, 
Renewal Group and playing games on her tablet. If the Kansas City Chiefs
 or Royals were on TV, you would be sure to find her watching them. 
Shirley was preceded in death by her husband Daryl; parents; 
grandparents, Andrew &amp; Mary (Knobl) Leitner and Mathias &amp; 
Magdalena (Hautzinger) Kogl; brother Eugene Leitner and wife Mary, and 
sister-in-law Kay Stanley. Shirley leaves behind her loving family; 
brother Kenneth Leitner, of Atwood; 3 nieces; 6 nephews and many 
friends. 
Shirley will be cremated with a Memorial Mass at 11:00 a.m. Friday, July

Shirley M. Organ (Leitner)

Frances L. Stocking, age 99, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, October 22, 2020. She passed away at home with family and friends in Choctaw Beach, FL. Frances was born in Severance, Kansas, to the late Charles Frank and Emma Albers. 

She married Clark Stocking in May, 1942, who preceded her in death on June 8, 2010. She was also preceded in death by her son, Dennis, and siblings Louis, Charles, Catherine, Carolyn and Frieda. Frances was a member of the Main Street Christian Church of Stockton, Kansas. 

Frances leaves her cherished memories to her two loving daughters, Mary Locke of Choctaw Beach, FL and Sharon McDonald of Raytown, MO., five grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren. 

A Celebration of Frances’ life will be held on August 7 at 10:00 at the Stockton cemetery in Stockton, KS. Expressions of love and sympathy may be viewed or placed at Plumer Overlease Funeral Home.

Amie Marie Snow, 43, died July 23, 2021, at Clara Barton Hospital, 
Hoisington.&nbsp; She was born August 12, 1977, in Great Bend, Kansas, the 
daughter of Robert Alan and Debra Kay (Batchman) Hapes.&nbsp;

On March 26, 2021, she married Marcus Todd Snow in Pawnee Rock, Kansas.

Amie loved spending time with her family, either at the lake or riding 4-wheelers. She especially loved being a grandma.

She is survived by her husband Marcus Snow of the home; three 
children, Nichole Batchman of Great Bend, Blake Aaron Ridgel and wife 
Sydney Dyan of Great Bend, and Kayle Kay Baldwin of the home; a sister, 
Jamie Rose of Great Bend; and a granddaughter, Zailyn Rae Wolfkill and 
one on the way, Stella Elaine Ridgel.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Clarita Marie Dinkel, 78, Hays, died Friday, July 23, 2021, at Via Christi Village surrounded by her family.

She was born August 21, 1942, in Hays, 
the daughter of William and Albertine (Windholz) Pelzel.&nbsp; She graduated 
from Girls Catholic High School in 1960, and on August 20, 1962, she was 
united in marriage to Melvin J. Dinkel at St. Severin Catholic Church.&nbsp; 
They celebrated nearly 59 years of marriage.&nbsp; Clarita was a daycare 
provider, opening her home and heart to many children, whom she loved 
like her own.&nbsp; She was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic 
Church, and enjoyed playing Bingo, Skip-Bo, crocheting, and reading.&nbsp; 
Most of all, Clarita loved her faith, family, friends, and her extended 
daycare family. &nbsp;&nbsp;

She is survived by her husband Melvin, 
two sons: Bill Dinkel of Hays and Chris Dinkel and wife Kim of Hays, two
 sisters: Elsie Ewing and husband L.D. of Hays, and Karen Pelzel and 
fiance’ Ray Irvin of Ellis, two granddaughters: Katie Dinkel of Topeka

Clarita Marie Dinkel

On Wednesday, July 21, 2021, Ormas “Gayle” Richmond slipped on his 
favorite cowboy boots, boarded his old red Massey Ferguson tractor, and 
set off for a final ride across a lush Kansas wheat field to join a much
 deserved homecoming with loved ones eagerly awaiting him on the other 
side. A gentle breeze was at his back with a full moon to light the way,
 and most assuredly some ice cream figured in as well. It was a 
celebration nearly a century in the making.
 Gayle was born June 27, 1924 in Codell, KS to Ormas and Mary 
(Gardels) Richmond. He was the fifth of six children: Olive, Verland, 
Margaret, Ruth, &amp; Evelyn. His family lived and farmed near the 
Saline River, south of Codell. He was born Gale Ormas. His mother was 
informed that the masculine spelling was “Gayle,” so his name was 
changed in the 2nd grade. It was changed yet again when he registered 
for the military and the postmaster entered his name as Ormas Gayle.
 Gayle graduated from Codell High School in 1942. At the age of 18, 
he enlisted in the Army and was later sent off to Japan. This was quite 
an experience for a farm kid who had never ventured outside of county 
lines. On the trip overseas, the crew got word that Japan had 
surrendered. WWII was over. He completed the voyage and stayed on for 
the next year as a military policeman.
 On May 22, 1947, Gayle married Patricia Bea Stevenson, the 
beautiful brown eyed teacher from the local one room schoolhouse. They 
had three children together: Dennis, Denise, and Debra. Sadly, Pat died 
of cancer in 1957, leaving him a widower with three young children and a
 farm to tend. Gayle made the selfless decision to move in with his 
mother-in-law, Florence Stevenson, and together they raised the kids. 
 In 1977, Gayle married Evelyn Simpson. Gayle, along with Evelyn’s 
teenage son, Paul Simpson, farmed together. The couple’s religious faith
 was a shared bond, and they attended the local Baptist church. They 
shared many happy years together in their farmhouse outside of 
Turkville, Saline Valley, KS, later moving into town prior to her death 
in 2001.
 In the 1970s, he experienced yet another name change: “Gramper.” His
 grandkids loved the opportunity to leave the city behind to do some 
exploring on his and Evelyn’s farm. So many wonderful family memories 
were made during these visits.
 Gayle had a true love of the land, his little slice of heaven in 
Kansas. He farmed for a living, but raising cattle was his greatest joy.
 He raised registered Hereford cattle for many years. Rattlesnakes 
feared him, as he amassed a legendary collection of rattles in a large 
glass jar over the years. In 1998, several scenes from Ride with the 
Devil were filmed on his land. He got to meet the cast, and the director
 told him that he had been all around the world, but had never seen a 
sunset so beautiful. And on his 80th birthday, Gayle looked on with a 
grin as oil was struck on his land….
 He also had a lifelong passion for sports. Gayle played basketball,
 football, and baseball in high school as a proud Codell Cougar. His 
father passed on a special love of baseball to the family, cheering for 
the New York Yankees on the radio. In 1985, Gayle and his brother 
Verland got to attend a KC Royals World Series game together. Some 
thirty years later, he cheered on his team to another World Series 
victory.
 In 2006, Gayle moved to Johnson County, KS to be closer to family. 
He made the most of retirement community life, making many new friends 
and even becoming the resident pool shark. He got to live a few units 
down from his sister Ruth and her husband Duane Goodwin for several 
years. Dominating Christmas decorating contests was a special source of 
pride.
 Those of us left waving goodbye, smile knowing that there are so 
many more who are waving hello once again. Enjoy that homecoming, 
Gramper. 97 years of hard work on this earth is an accomplishment—we are
 proud of you! We are not surprised that you waited for the end of 
harvest season to take your final adventure. You will be fondly 
remembered for your strength, generosity, work ethic, love of ice cream,
 and kind blue eyes.
 Gayle’s survivors include: son Dennis (Mamie) Richmond, Port Saint 
Lucie, FL; daughter Denise (Larry) Lynch, Shawnee, KS; daughter Debra 
(Ed) Corbett, Olathe, KS; step-son, Paul (Tina) Simpson, Hays, KS; 7 
grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren, 4 step grandchildren; 7 
step-great-grandchildren; and many friends and other relatives. 
 Visitation will be on Tuesday, July 27, at the funeral home from 9AM
 until service time, followed by the service at 2PM. Burial will follow 
at the Plainville City Cemetery.

Lila Ann (Bell) Dietz passed away on July 15, 2021 at the Trego County -
 Lemke Memorial Hospital Long Term Care in WaKeeney, KS at the age of 
86. She was born on July 13, 1935 to Forrest and Mary Louise (Manis) 
Bell in El Dorado, KS. Lila married Donald “Don” Dietz on June 2, 1957 
in Claflin, KS. They were blessed with three sons, Jeff, Van and Scott.
 Lila grew up in Claflin, KS and graduated from Claflin High School 
with the Class of 1953. She went on to complete two years of college at 
Emporia State University Teachers College where she obtained her 
teaching certificate. Lila then moved to WaKeeney in 1955 and taught one
 year before moving to teach one year at Pratt, KS. After she and Don 
were married, they made their home in WaKeeney where they became 
co-owners of the Dietz Market with his brother Ferd and wife Wanda which
 later became Dietz IGA in 1970. When they sold the business Lila then 
was a Bank Teller at First National Bank and later a bookkeeper at 
WaKeeney Manor until she retired in 1995. Lila was a member of the 
Immanuel Lutheran Church in WaKeeney.
 Lila loved spending time at her parents’ cabin at Cedar Bluff Lake 
where she enjoyed fishing from the pontoon boat. She and the boys would 
often pack up a cooler of sandwiches and go fishing on the Big Creek and
 Saline Rivers. She also enjoyed needlepoint, reading, collecting 
antiques, puzzles, and playing Bridge.
 Lila is survived by her sons Jeff and wife Joyce Dietz of Newton, KS
 and Scott and wife Jana Dietz of Wichita, KS; three grandchildren, Lynn
 Dietz, April (Alex) Beevers, and Taylor Dietz (fiancé Alexis); and two 
great-grandchildren, Riley and Weston.
 She joins in heaven her parents, Forrest and Mary Louise; husband, Don Dietz; and son Van Dietz.
 A Graveside Service will be held at the WaKeeney City Cemetery at 2:00 PM on Friday, July 23, 2021.

Kay Lynn Bowen

Longtime Lakin resident George Hogan died peacefully at his home July
 22, 2021. At the time of his death he was surrounded by his wife, his 4
 children, 8 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren. 
 George, and wife Judy ran a dog boarding business south of Lakin, 
called Toyland Kennels, for many years. George cherished the 
relationships he developed with his customers and missed them after his 
retirement. 
 He was born to Geroge Hogan Sr and Beulah (Wolfe) Hogan on April 
26, 1941 in Cheyenne Wells Colorado. He was at home with his parents, 
one sister, Emma Rose, and one brother TIm in Kit Carson, Colorado. 
 George started his working career on the family ranch in Kit 
Carson. After college, George taught school for many years, then worked
 at Colorado Interstate Gas until his retirement in 1999. 
 He married Judy Bethel on August 20, 1964, and they had 4 children.
 George and Judy were also parents to countless foster children over the
 years. Many of their foster children remain in contact with them to 
this day. 
 George was an avid sports fan. He loved his Denver Broncos, and he 
loved Jayhawk basketball. He was a successful wrestling coach. He has 
continued to keep in contact with many of his wrestlers over the years. 
 He enjoyed woodworking, and before his illness he loved playing golf, 
but the thing George loved most in life was his family. He spent many a 
weekend traveling to a grandchild's wrestling tournament, basketball 
game, Cross country meet, or football game, or playing the guitar with 
his grandsons. It didn’t matter the activity if he had a kid or grandkid
 participating, he was there. George also loved people and never knew a 
stranger. And finally George loved the Lord. The Church played a big 
part in his life. He was a musician and played music regularly during 
church services. 
 George is survived by his loving family which includes; wife Judy

Schneider and husband Tyson, Trevor Kennedy and fiance Ella Sherwood, 
Hunter Kennedy and fiance Courtney Schneider, and last but certainly not
 least, the apple of the families eye Indie Hogan-Knoll, his eight great
 grandchildren, Hadleigh Ames, Beckam Ames, Emytt Martinez, Bellameigh 
Martinez, Oaklynn Schnieder, Copelan Kennedy, Charlie Seal and Hendrix 
Anderson. He is also guardian Angel to two little ones yet to make an 
appearance, his brother Tim Hogan and wife Jan and their family, 
sister-in-law Linda Offill and her family, brother and sister-in-law 
Keith and Deb Nidey and their family, brother and sister-in-law Max and 
Caron Strasener and their family. He is preceded in death by his parents
 George Sr. and Beluah Hogan, one nephew Zane Pearce, one niece Lori 
Rollo, brother-in-law Jim Offill and foster son Sean Crevey-Hogan. 
 A Vigil service and Rosary will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, 
July 27, 2021 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Lakin. Funeral Mass 
will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 28, 2021 also at St. 
Anthony Catholic Church in Lakin with Fr. Peter Tran as Celebrant. The 
Mass may also be viewed on Facebook Live on the Garnand Funeral Home 
Facebook Page. Burial will follow at the Lakin Cemetery. Friends may 
call from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday and from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00

 </figure>Longtime Lakin resident George Hogan died peacefully at his home July
 22, 2021. At the time of his death he was surrounded by his wife, his 4
 children, 8 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren. 
 George, and wife Judy ran a dog boarding business south of Lakin, 
called Toyland Kennels, for many years. George cherished the 
relationships he developed with his customers and missed them after his 
retirement. 
 He was born to Geroge Hogan Sr and Beulah (Wolfe) Hogan on April 
26, 1941 in Cheyenne Wells Colorado. He was at home with his parents, 
one sister, Emma Rose, and one brother TIm in Kit Carson, Colorado. 
 George started his working career on the family ranch in Kit 
Carson. After college, George taught school for many years, then worked
 at Colorado Interstate Gas until his retirement in 1999. 
 He married Judy Bethel on August 20, 1964, and they had 4 children.
 George and Judy were also parents to countless foster children over the
 years. Many of their foster children remain in contact with them to 
this day. 
 George was an avid sports fan. He loved his Denver Broncos, and he 
loved Jayhawk basketball. He was a successful wrestling coach. He has 
continued to keep in contact with many of his wrestlers over the years. 
 He enjoyed woodworking, and before his illness he loved playing golf, 
but the thing George loved most in life was his family. He spent many a 
weekend traveling to a grandchild's wrestling tournament, basketball 
game, Cross country meet, or football game, or playing the guitar with 
his grandsons. It didn’t matter the activity if he had a kid or grandkid
 participating, he was there. George also loved people and never knew a 
stranger. And finally George loved the Lord. The Church played a big 
part in his life. He was a musician and played music regularly during 
church services. 
 George is survived by his loving family which includes; wife Judy

George Hogan Sr.

Laura E. Shuster, age 85, passed away on Sunday, July 18, 2021, at 
her brother John’s home in Horace, Kansas.&nbsp; She was born on June 25, 
1936, in Garden City, Kansas, the daughter of George &amp; Minnie Archer
 Grubb.&nbsp; A resident of Horace, Kansas since June 2, 2021, moving from 
Lindale, Texas, she was a nurse.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church in New Harmony, Texas, 
and helped complete 100 projects through the Sowers Ministry (Servants 
On Wheels Ever Ready).

On September 13, 1958, she married Edward E. Shuster in Williamsburg, Virginia.&nbsp; He survives.

Survivors include her Husband - Edward E. Shuster of Horace, Kansas, 
One Son - LeRoy E. Shuster of Belmopan, Belize, Two Daughters - Karis 
Holman of Lake Tahoe, California, Jill Hansen of Littleton, Colorado, 
One Foster Son - Joseph Birch of Scranton, Pennsylvania, Three Brothers -
 John &amp; Edna Grubb of Tribune, Kansas, Harold &amp; Shirley Grubb of
 Tribune, Kansas, Patrick &amp; Patricia Grubb of Tribune, Six 
Grandchildren and Three Great Grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her Parents, and One Brother &amp; 
Sister In Law - Jerry &amp; Juanita Grubb &amp; One Foster Daughter - 
Theresa Birch.

Funeral Services will be at 2:00 p.m. M.T. on Saturday, July 24, 
2021, at the Tribune United Methodist Church in Tribune, Kansas, with 
Jeri Farmer Smith and Pastor Rick Kingham presiding. Services will be

Mark Speier passed away on the morning of July 4, 2021, after a long battle with cancer. &nbsp;He was surrounded by this daughters Alexandria and Rebecca and their mother Marilyn. Mark was able to visit with his 89-year-old mother, Rebecca Speier, days before his passing. This was especially joyful for Mark as he had not been able to see his mother face to face for over a year due to covid restrictions at her nursing home. Mark was also helped and supported through his final months by his long standing, close friend Joe Welch, whom Alexandria and Rebecca affectionately refer to as “Uncle Joe." Mark was born on November 12, 1959 to William and Rebecca Speier in Hays, Kansas. &nbsp;&nbsp;He is survived by his daughters Alexandria and Rebecca, his mother and one brother, Tim Speier. &nbsp;He was preceded in death by his father, sister Kathy Ames and brother David Speier. Mark will be remembered as a caring, loving father who was devoted to his daughters. He was a good friend to many. &nbsp;Mark loved his medical career as a registered nurse and was valued for his empathetic and compassionate care of patients. A memorial service for Mark will be held July 20, 2021, at St. Elizabeth Catholic church at 5pm for immediate family and close friends. Mark’s cremains will be cared for by his family according to his wishes.
