Carolyn Ann Wilkerson passed away on September 13, 2021, at the Rooks
County Health Center in Plainville, KS, at the age of 73. She was born
on May 23, 1948, to Victor and Henneritta (Befort) Younger in Hays, KS.
She was married to Gary Wilkerson on February 27, 1971, in Ellis Co.
They were blessed with two sons: Eric and Wesley.
Carolyn grew up on a farm in rural Ellis Co. and graduated from
Ellis High School with the Class of 1966. After high school she went
straight into the workforce. In 1995 she and Gary began C & G
Trucking Company which they owned and operated in Zurich, KS. Carolyn
continued to run the business after Gary’s passing in 2005. Her own
health made her slow down working up until her passing.
Carolyn loved tending to her flower garden, knitting, and
crocheting. She loved watching NFL & College Football and NCAA
Basketball and it did not make a difference if it was live or
pre-recorded, she still loved watching the games. She always attended
her grandkids sporting events from the time they played t-ball all the
way thru high school sports. She enjoyed going to all of Gary and Eric’s
drag racing events, as well as her grandkids’ junior dragster events.
As their #1 Fan, you could always hear her from the stands cheering them
on. They all made her so very proud.
Carolyn was a hardworking and fun-loving woman. She knew how to have
fun and enjoy life along the way. She will be greatly missed by all who
knew her, but the celebration of her life and memories will never be
forgotten. A true fan, she continues to cheer us on to greatness in this
life, until we see her again, in the life everlasting.
Carolyn is survived by her son Eric Wilkerson of Zurich, KS;
sisters, Bernie Miller of Hays, KS, Linda Engel of Hays, KS, and Jane
Wiggins of Russell, KS; sister-in-law, Becky Younger of Salina, KS; and
two grandchildren, Willie and Reagan Wilkerson.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Victor and Henneritta
Younger; husband, Gary Wilkerson; son, Wesley John Wilkerson; and
brothers, Jim, Ben, and Thomas “Jesse” Younger.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the Sacred Heart Catholic
Church in Plainville on Tuesday, September 21, 2021, at 10:30 AM.
Visitation will be held on Monday 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a Vigil
Service at 7:00 PM at the funeral home in Plainville.
