Phillipsburg resident, Ruth E. Hackerott passed away on
Thursday, February 6, 2025 in the Phillips County Hospital, Phillipsburg, at
the age of 86.

She was born January 7, 1939 in Natoma, KS the daughter of
Emil and Florence (Beisner) Hackerott.&nbsp;
She was a graduate of Natoma High School.

Survivors include her brother Edward Hackerott of Kansas
City, MO; nephews Roger Hackerott and wife Glenna of Russell, KS and Larry
Hackerott and wife Diane of Cedar Rapids, IA; a niece Mary Casey and husband
Tom of Hays, KS; and other nieces and nephews; great nieces and nephews;&nbsp; great great nieces and nephews; and many
friends.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday,
February 13, 2025 in the First Lutheran Church, Phillipsburg, with Pastor
Matthew Goehring officiating.&nbsp; The services
will be streamed live on the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel Facebook page.&nbsp; Interment will follow at 2:30 p.m. Thursday
at the Peace Lutheran Cemetery in Natoma, KS.

Mrs. Hackerott will lie in state from noon until 9 p.m.
Tuesday, and again from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Wednesday at the Olliff-Boeve
Memorial Chapel, Phillipsburg.

Memorial contributions may be made to the First Lutheran
Church or Phillips County Hospital.

Ruth E. Hackerott

Ryan Jackson Tebow (28) passed away at UC Anschutz Hospital
in Denver, Colorado on February 4th, 2025 (World Cancer Day). He was diagnosed
with Ewing sarcoma in November of 2023. In January 2025, he was diagnosed with
Guillain-Barré syndrome, and his cancer had spread. He was not afraid to die
and was sure of his life after death in Heaven.

Ryan was born on April 20th, 1996, in Quinter, Kansas to
Jack and Doris Tebow. He had an older sister, Jordan (Tebow) Kiser, and a
younger sister, Leah (Tebow) Ratts. He attended Quinter Junior-Senior High and
graduated in May 2014. He was not afraid to admit that studying was not his
thing, but he participated in a different sport every season. He received the
12-Sport award from Quinter High School. He went to Kansas 1A-State Golf all
four years of high school and placed 13th as a Sophomore and 5th as a Senior.
He attended Barton Community College on a golf scholarship for 1 year.

In 2017, he moved to Laramie, Wyoming. He worked at Quality
IV &amp; ZooPharm as a certified sterile compounding pharmacy technician. He
had nothing but great memories of his work family. He enjoyed helping host
tailgate parties for the University of Wyoming Football games. He developed a
knack for fly fishing and loved to explore the beautiful country of Wyoming
whenever weather permitted.

His love of golf gave him a drive during the last year of
his life. He bragged about finishing a five-day chemo course and coming home to
play 18 holes of golf. He had a strong family connection and did everything he
could to attend every family event (and there were lots).

Ryan is meeting his grandparents, Terry and Charlene Smith
and Bill and Barbra Tebow, in Heaven. His parents, Jack and Doris; sisters,
Jordan (Tyler) Kiser and Leah (Dylan) Ratts; along with many special Uncles,
Aunts, and Cousins will treasure memories of him.

A memorial service for Ryan will be held on Saturday,
February 8th at 11:00 AM at the Quinter Church of the Brethren.

Ryan Jackson Tebow 

Marilyn,
beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away
peacefully on February 3, 2025 at the age of 77.&nbsp; A woman of warmth, wisdom, and an adventurous
spirit, she touched countless lives through her kindness, passion for
education, and love for her family.&nbsp; Marilyn was born on April 30, 1947,
in Colby, Kansas to Willard Treu &amp; Betty (Liester) Treu &amp; was raised on
the farmstead in northeast Sheridan County.&nbsp;
After high school graduation from Sheridan County High School in 1965,
Marilyn continued her education at Fort Hays State University where she graduated
with her education degree in 1969.&nbsp; While
attending college, Marilyn married her high school sweetheart, James Rynard
Rogers on June 18, 1966.&nbsp; Jim &amp;
Marilyn started their married life following college in Quinter, Kansas where
Marilyn taught first grade for four years.&nbsp;
Once returning to their hometown of Hoxie, Marilyn started teaching
Kindergarten at Hoxie Grade School.

Marilyn
dedicated her life to learning and teaching. As a devoted elementary teacher
and catholic youth education director, she believed in the power of knowledge
and inspired many along the way. Her students and colleagues will remember her
for her unwavering dedication and gentle encouragement.&nbsp; After leaving her elementary teaching career,
Marilyn dedicated many years to the family business, Sunflower Chemical.&nbsp; To this day she still talked about her
memories of the guys from Sunflower.&nbsp;
During many of those same years, she dedicated many hours to the youth
of St Frances Cabrini as the director of religious education.&nbsp; Marilyn spent countless hours of her spare
time devoting her talents to the community through NEC theater productions, her
gift of piano playing, &amp; as one of the founding board members of the
Sheridan County Amusement Company.&nbsp; 

Outside of her
career, Marilyn loved being a mother above all else.&nbsp; One of Marilyn’s favorite places to spend
with her children Brent &amp; Brooke was the Hoxie city pool on hot summer
days.&nbsp; Even when her own children outgrew
the pool, Marilyn continued enjoying days at the pool with her grandchildren
and loved more than anything family days at Shelley’s pool in the country.&nbsp; Her most cherished memories with family by
her side were in the Maui sunshine celebrating many Christmas holidays &amp;
family weddings.&nbsp;&nbsp; Above all, Marilyn
adored her family, especially her grandchildren, who were the light of her
life.&nbsp; She was their biggest cheerleader,
their storyteller, and their source of endless love. When she first became a
grandmother there was already a Grandma Rogers, so she chose the name
“Mere-Mere” as it means mother in French so for the past twenty-two years, she
became Mere-Mere to those closest to her.&nbsp;
She also shared a special bond with her beloved dog, Bella, who was by
her side always.&nbsp; 

Marilyn found
joy in life’s simple and beautiful moments. She had a deep love for gardening,
tending to her flowers with the same care and patience she showed to those
around her. Birdwatching brought her a sense of peace, and she cherished every
moment spent by the ocean, where the waves and salty breeze always made her
feel at home.&nbsp; A true adventurer at heart, she loved to travel, embracing
new cultures and experiences with enthusiasm. Her appreciation for
Spanish-style décor and jewelry reflected her vibrant spirit and appreciation
for beauty in all forms.&nbsp;

Marilyn is
survived by her husband, James R Rogers, daughter Brooke Hill, Aurora,
Colorado, son Brent and wife Jodi Rogers, Hoxie, grandchildren Paiton and
Kinley Rogers &amp; Quinlynn Hill, sisters Shelley Nondorf (Bill) of Hoxie
&amp; Carole Clark (Pete) of Parker, Colorado, and nieces &amp; nephews. She is
now reunited with those who went before her, especially her beloved parents,
Willard &amp; Betty Treu, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and
cherished memories.&nbsp;

A celebration
of her life will be held on Friday, February 7, 2025 at 10:30 am at St Frances
Cabrini Church, Hoxie, Kansas. Visitation will take place on Thursday, February
6 from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Mickey-Leopold Funeral Home, with family present
from 4:30 pm to 7:00 pm to receive friends. The vigil and rosary service will
follow the visitation at 7:00 pm.&nbsp;

Judy
Matranga, age 75 passed away on January 22, 2025 in San Francisco. Judy was the
beloved, devoted wife of her surviving husband Joseph of 52 years and loving
mother of four children. She leaves behind 11 grandchildren, 11 surviving
siblings, numerous nieces and nephews, and a large community of friends.


Judy is survived by her spouse Joe, and four children: Geoffrey Matranga (Kim),
Carolyn Brady (Shawn), Ben Matranga (Daniela), and Frank Matranga (Heather).
She also leaves 11 cherished grandchildren: Siena, Miles, and Russell Matranga;
Josephine, Charles and Rosalia Brady; Sophia and Daniel Matranga; and, William,
Benjamin and Mary Matranga. 

Judy was born on July 27, 1949 in Hays, Kansas to her late parents, Alfred A.
and Thecla C. Haas. She was 1 of 14 children. Siblings include Nathan Haas
(Barbara), Father Julian Haas, OFM, Cap., the late Norbert Haas (Jane), Alfreda
Schmidt (the late Milton), the late Mary Haas, Thomas Haas (Therese), Lorraine
Berland (Doug), Rich Haas (Leona), Maurice Haas (Debbie), John Haas (Sharon),
Fredd Haas (Linda), Joyce Lang (Tom), and Donna Nathanson. 



Judy grew up in rural Antonino, Kansas. She graduated from Marian High School
in Hays, Kansas in 1967 and attended Fort Hays State University studying
Graphic Arts. In 1972 she entered Volunteers In Service To America
"VISTA" (now known as AmeriCorp), where she met Joe. They were both
stationed in Leon, Iowa, beginning a life long friendship and eventual romance.
Joe and Judy were married on May 19, 1973 in Antonino, Kansas.

 

Upon moving to San Francisco, Judy continued to bring creativity to her public
service career with the City &amp; County of San Francisco's Purchasing and
Police departments, and City College of San Francisco. Her artistic talents
would follow Judy throughout her career. She earned her Bachelor's degree from San
Francisco State University and lived in Sacramento for four years where she
managed Golden Era Handicrafts for the City of Sacramento's Council on Aging.
Returning to the City, her career progressed with the San Francisco Public
Health Department, retiring after 20 years as a Senior Contract Analyst.

 

Judy was very active in public service and always available at St John the
Evangelist school and parish for more than 40 years. Her time included 2 years
as PTG President, chair of numerous auctions, festivals, carnivals,
celebrations, and memorials. She was a Lector and Eucharistic Minister for four
decades, and Co-Parent of the Year in 1999. Judy volunteered at Immaculate
Conception Church for over 2 decades serving at countless Spaghetti Luncheons
and Italian Catholic Federation events. 



The family offers a special thanks to the caregivers and medical staff who
provided hospice care in her final days. Heartfelt appreciation is also
extended to her sister Donna, nephew Alex, and the many visitors who spent
hours comforting her and providing her companionship.

A
Funeral Mass will be celebrated on February 6, 2025 at 11:00 am at Immaculate
Conception Chapel, 3255 Folsom Street in San Francisco.

Judy Matranga

Joann Fern Hrabe was born on Friday, December 13,
1963, in Quinter, Kansas to Leonard and Linda (Bedore) Hrabe.&nbsp; She passed away Monday, February 3, 2025, at
the Republic County Hospital in Belleville, KS at the age of 61. Legend has it,
it was 13 below zero and Joann was a breach baby.&nbsp; Sometime in 1964, Leonard, Linda and Joann
moved to Smith Center, so Leonard could run the creamery store in downtown
Smith Center.&nbsp; Joann went to grade school
and high school in Smith Center.&nbsp; She
graduated high school in 1982.&nbsp; 

From there she spent some time in Texas and then
moved back to Kansas and attended vo-tech in Beloit.&nbsp; She worked at the Mitchell County Clerk’s
Office for several years and then in 2001, she followed in dad’s footsteps and
started working as a Motor Carrier Inspector in Belleville.&nbsp; She retired in June 2021 after 20 years of
service.&nbsp; 

Joan is preceded in death by her parents, Leonard
and Linda Hrabe.&nbsp; Paternal grandparents,
Amos and Opal Hrabe and maternal grandparents, Bill and Velma Bedore and
step-grandmother, Ruby Bedore.&nbsp; 

Survived by brother, Chris Hrabe and his wife Cheri
and sister, Shannon Schmidt and her husband Jay.&nbsp; Her beloved nephews and nieces, Kyle and his
wife Gina, Tiffini, Ashlie (Darby), Nathan and Hannah (Quinn).&nbsp; Great nephews and nieces, Bristol, Bridger,
Colby and Alivia.&nbsp; 

Also surviving are cherished uncles and aunts; Larry
Bedore and his wife, Susan and Elaine Horn and her husband Jim.&nbsp; Cousins, Patrick (Missy) Bedore; Becky

1963, in Quinter, Kansas to Leonard and Linda (Bedore) Hrabe.&nbsp; She passed away Monday, February 3, 2025, at
the Republic County Hospital in Belleville, KS at the age of 61. Legend has it,
it was 13 below zero and Joann was a breach baby.&nbsp; Sometime in 1964, Leonard, Linda and Joann
moved to Smith Center, so Leonard could run the creamery store in downtown
Smith Center.&nbsp; Joann went to grade school
and high school in Smith Center.&nbsp; She
graduated high school in 1982.&nbsp; From there she spent some time in Texas and then
moved back to Kansas and attended vo-tech in Beloit.&nbsp; She worked at the Mitchell County Clerk’s
Office for several years and then in 2001, she followed in dad’s footsteps and
started working as a Motor Carrier Inspector in Belleville.&nbsp; She retired in June 2021 after 20 years of
service.&nbsp; Joan is preceded in death by her parents, Leonard
and Linda Hrabe.&nbsp; Paternal grandparents,
Amos and Opal Hrabe and maternal grandparents, Bill and Velma Bedore and
step-grandmother, Ruby Bedore.&nbsp; Survived by brother, Chris Hrabe and his wife Cheri
and sister, Shannon Schmidt and her husband Jay.&nbsp; Her beloved nephews and nieces, Kyle and his
wife Gina, Tiffini, Ashlie (Darby), Nathan and Hannah (Quinn).&nbsp; Great nephews and nieces, Bristol, Bridger,
Colby and Alivia.&nbsp; Also surviving are cherished uncles and aunts; Larry

Joann Fern Hrabe

Sue Boos, a cherished resident of Hays, Kansas, left us on February 3, 2025 to go be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  Born on June 4th, 1943 in Washington, D.C. to Benedict and Pauline Cruise, she moved to Hays, KS, ultimately graduating from Girls Catholic High School.   Sue pursued a career in nursing, filling the role of school nurse for the Hays school district for 20 years before obtaining additional nursing certifications from Fort Hays State University and moving on to an Associate Professor of Nursing there for 11 years. She earned her MS, RN, CS and ARNP and was highly respected by her colleagues and peers, impacting the careers of many nurses throughout the region.&nbsp;

Sue married
Jerry Boos on August 31, 1963 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Hays,
KS.&nbsp; Her greatest&nbsp;joy was her family and she&nbsp;was a beacon of
kindness, love, and unwavering dedication to her family, friends and
community.&nbsp; She was a pillar of strength and a source of endless support,
always putting others before herself.

Amongst her
many talents were playing the piano, crochet, cross-stitch, and embroidery with
her true love being quilting.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Her work ethic, integrity, and
passion were evident in everything she did, and she leaves a legacy of beauty
and expertise in the creations she made.

Sue was
actively involved in her community, volunteering her time and skills as a
member St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, President of PEO (Chapter GS), involved
with multiple book clubs and a volunteer at the city library. Her generosity
and compassion knew no bounds, and she was always ready to lend a helping hand.

She was
preceded in death by her parents, Benedict and Pauline Cruise and her
grandparents.&nbsp; She is survived by her loving husband, Jerry Boos of Hays,
KS, and brother Ben Cruise and wife Clara of Colorado Springs, CO.&nbsp; She is
also survived by her children, son Kim and wife Erin of Tampa, FL, daughter
Jami (Bulloch) and husband Andy of Wichita, KS and son Sean and wife Nicole of
Minneapolis, MN.&nbsp; She was a proud grandmother to seven grandchildren,
Blake Bulloch and wife Cheyenne, Kale Bulloch and wife Teagan, Brooke Maxson
(Bulloch) and husband Jordan, Brett Boos, Dylan Boos, Bryar Boos, and Bella
Boos, as well as one great-grandson Beckett Bulloch. They will forever hold her
memory close to their hearts.

Sue will be
remembered for her boundless love, her selfless spirit, and her unwavering
dedication to her family and community. Her memory will live on in the hearts
of all who were fortunate enough to know her. May she rest in eternal peace.

Christian Burial will be at 10:00 am on Friday, February 7, 2025 at St. Joseph

Susan C. 'Sue' Boos

Camilla Kay Hardy passed away on December
14, 2024, at the Adler Center for Caring in Aldie, Virginia. 

She was born on March 27, 1937, in
Lucas, Kansas, the daughter of James and Anna Elizabeth (Stadola) Aksamit and
was the youngest of eleven children.&nbsp; She
was loved and will be missed by her family and friends, but she has gone on to
be with the love of her life, James Hardy, who preceded her in death. They
shared 58 years together and after they were married, she lived most of her
life in Alexandia, Virginia. She graduated from secretarial college and after
getting married received her beautician license. She was known for her wit,
being stylish, and being a grand host. 

As a child, Camilla looked upon
her time in Kansas fondly and wanted to come back home and be laid to rest
among her family members in Lucas, Kansas.

A private burial will take place
at the Lucas City Cemetery in Lucas, Kansas.&nbsp;
Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary of Russell, Kansas, is in charge of the
funeral service arrangements.

Donna M. Kirkpatrick Pinson, age 67, of Cherry Valley,
Illinois passed away on January 30, 2025. She was born October 13, 1957 to
Kathlene Houpt in Hays, Kansas. Donna married the love of her life, Stoney
Pinson, on June 21, 1985. 

She received a Bachelor’s degree in English from Fort Hays
State University, as well as three Master’s degrees in Communication, Education
Administration, and School and Community Agency, and a Doctorate in Counselor
Education and Supervision from Northern Illinois University. She was a
Counselor for many years in the Byron School District and at National Louis
University. She was named the Illinois Middle School Counselor of the Year by
the Illinois School Counselor Association in 2010. From 2011 to 2013 she was an
editorial board member of the Journal of Counseling in Illinois. Dr.
Kirkpatrick Pinson was the Secretary of the Illinois Association for Adult
Development and Aging and the Co-Treasurer and board member for the Schultz
Foundation for Advancing. She was also a member of the Illinois Counseling
Association and the American Counseling Association. 

Donna found joy in life through reading, teaching, and
counseling students. She enjoyed puzzles and word games. Most of all, Donna
loved to help people, she dedicated her life to furthering research in
counseling, ethics, and chronic disease.

Donna is survived by her husband of 39 years, Stoney Pinson;
mother, Kathlene Perrigo;&nbsp; brother,
Edward Kirkpatrick; nephews, Trey and Trent Kirkpatrick; and special
sister-in-law, Ronda Pinson.

Lloyd Francis Dreiling&nbsp; 'Jack', 92, passed away on Thursday,
January 30, 2025, at NorthCare Hospice in North Kansas City, Missouri. Jack was
born September 21, 1932, in Victoria, Kansas, where he was born and raised
until serving two years in the U.S. Army.

In September 1959, he married the love of his life, Eileen
Pfeifer. They moved to the Kansas City area, raising their family while Jack
pursued a successful career as a diesel mechanic. He worked for Stewart Sand,
Wyandotte Concrete, and ultimately retired from Fordyce Concrete in 1994.

Beyond his professional achievements, Lloyd was a man who
deeply cherished his family and friends. He found joy in creating lasting
memories through motorcycle rides, camping trips, boating excursions, and
countless hours spent enjoying the great outdoors. He and Eileen shared a
passion for square dancing, often seen twirling across the floor in their
matching outfits.

Lloyd’s commitment to community was evident in his
memberships at Holy Angels Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, and the
Basehor VFW. His legacy extends beyond his immediate family; he leaves behind a
wide network of friends who will miss his presence.

Preceded in death by his son, Wesley Francis Dreiling in
1962, and sisters Lillian Dreiling, Paulette Sander, Norma Jean Wellbrock, and
Charlene Roth. Lloyd is survived by his wife of 65 years, Eileen; 2 sons Glenn
Dreiling (and wife Maria) of Basehor, Kansas, and Mike Dreiling (and wife Kay)
of Baldwin, Kansas; 5 siblings Lou Bowman of Kingman, Kansas; Roy Dreiling of
Gladstone, Missouri; Danny Dreiling of Topeka, Kansas; Frank Dreiling of
Prairie Village, Kansas; and Cathy Roth of Summerville, South Carolina; and

Lloyd Francis Dreiling  'Jack'

Let me tell you about my husband, the love of
my life and best friend, Gregory “Greg” Schmidt, who passed away on January 31,
2025 after over nine years of courageously battling Glioblastoma brain cancer.
He was a devoted husband, a loving father, grandfather, big brother, uncle, and
an extraordinary person.

Greg was born at the old St. Anthony Hospital
in Hays, Kansas on July 22, 1960. He was the first born son of Emery and
Shirley (Pfeifer) Schmidt. He grew up on the family farm that he loved
northeast of Catherine where he was able to live the last year of his life. He attended Catherine
Elementary School, Hays Junior High and graduated
from Hays High School in 1978.
He attended Fort Hays State University.

After graduating from Hays High, he worked for
Rohr Wood Products for a year. On June 22, 1979, he started his 45 year career
at Cross Mfg., Inc., Hays. He began
his employment there working second shift on the production floor. Within a
couple of years, he was moved briefly to Quality Assurance, then to Production
Control Manager. He was named General Plant Manager in 1994, a position he held
until his death. Greg was respected for his hard work, dedication, and
expertise.

Greg and I were introduced by mutual friends
on March 16, 1980. He proposed to me that very summer on a summer night during
wheat harvest while sitting in an old green wheat truck in a wheat field that
we now own. We were married May 1, 1981 at St. Catherine
Church in Catharine, Kansas. I am so grateful
for the forty-three years of marriage that we were able to spend
together.

We were blessed with three sons. Eric (wife
Kelli), Hays, Ryan (wife Jennifer), Hays and Kyle, Overland Park, KS.
"Poppy" adored his
grandchildren, Catherine, Evelyn, Sophia, Jace, Mason, Colby and Elon. He loved
following them when they participated in sports, music and theater.

While he loved all his nieces and nephews, Shelby Stouffer held a special
place in his heart. He enjoyed supporting her in Cross Country and Track
through high school and college. We also share a special "adopted"
daughter with Terry and Laurie Roth.
Hannah (Dreiling) Schmidt is the daughter none of us ever had.

Greg was a member of St. Catherine
Church, Catharine. He loved our parish. He served as a past parish council member and president, and was
a sacristan for the church.
He stepped up and taught a confirmation class when the need
arose. He mowed the church and cemetery
for over 20 years. Greg helped organize
the many parish Mardi Gras and
Street Dance fund raisers. He also helped me with liturgical decorating, getting up early on Christmas, Easter and Pentecost to light the numerous candles
that were used for these special days.

He was a member of the Catherine
Knights of Columbus
Council 11687 where he served as Grand Knight and Financial Secretary. He enjoyed
stuffing the hundreds of Easter Eggs that he helped hide for the Annual K of C
Easter Egg hunt. He was also a Fourth degree member of Bishop Cunningham
Assembly 282 Knights of Columbus, Hays. He served on the Advisory Board at
Thomas More Prep-Marian. He was very involved with TMP-Marian while and after
our boys were students there. He operated the time clocks at TMP-Marian's home
football and basketball games for many years, only quitting due to his health.
He enjoyed helping his buddies, Rod Fairbank and Terry Roth cooking for TMP
tailgates, Sports Booster Club Raffle and Graduation parties for the boarding
students. He and Terry built many sets for the TMP Pop Singers Dinner Theaters.
We were ACE Auction co-hosts in 2010. We received the TMP-Marian Point of Light
award in 2012 and the Jack Schramm Spirit Award in 2020.

Greg was an avid Kansas City Royals and Kansas
City Chiefs fan. Greg enjoyed planting a large garden every year until his
health didn't allow it. He spent many
hours in the heat of the summer canning his produce. His salsa was the best. He
was a volunteer fire fighter for Company 2 in Catherine for a few years. He had
an infectious laugh especially when watching his favorite comedian, Jeff
Dunham. For whatever reason, he enjoyed watching Sponge Bob Square Pants. When
one of his hospice nurses learned this, she found it on his TV so he could
watch something he enjoyed. Every year he had to watch Scrooged at least once
during the Christmas season and Groundhog Day on Groundhog Day. We will be
watching Groundhog Day in his memory this year.

On our many trips to KUMed the last nine years, the Topeka Zoo became a place we enjoyed making
quick stops at on
our way to KUMed or on the way home. It got our minds off of worrying what his
MRI would find and rested our minds when we didn't get the best news. His favorite animal
was Vision aka "Tank" the hippopotamus. We always had to go visit Tank.

Greg will be remembered for his kind heart, his work ethic and his willingness to help others whenever he was needed and will be missed by many.

Greg is survived by me, Pam (Peter) Schmidt,
his sons and their families, sisters, Jackie Jones and husband Tim of Hays and
Lisa Stouffer and husband Allen of Leavenworth, sister-in-law, Ann Schmidt,

my life and best friend, Gregory “Greg” Schmidt, who passed away on January 31,
2025 after over nine years of courageously battling Glioblastoma brain cancer.
He was a devoted husband, a loving father, grandfather, big brother, uncle, and
an extraordinary person.Greg was born at the old St. Anthony Hospital
in Hays, Kansas on July 22, 1960. He was the first born son of Emery and
Shirley (Pfeifer) Schmidt. He grew up on the family farm that he loved
northeast of Catherine where he was able to live the last year of his life. He attended Catherine
Elementary School, Hays Junior High and graduated
from Hays High School in 1978.
He attended Fort Hays State University.After graduating from Hays High, he worked for
Rohr Wood Products for a year. On June 22, 1979, he started his 45 year career
at Cross Mfg., Inc., Hays. He began
his employment there working second shift on the production floor. Within a
couple of years, he was moved briefly to Quality Assurance, then to Production
Control Manager. He was named General Plant Manager in 1994, a position he held
until his death. Greg was respected for his hard work, dedication, and
expertise.Greg and I were introduced by mutual friends
on March 16, 1980. He proposed to me that very summer on a summer night during
wheat harvest while sitting in an old green wheat truck in a wheat field that
we now own. We were married May 1, 1981 at St. Catherine
Church in Catharine, Kansas. I am so grateful
for the forty-three years of marriage that we were able to spend
together.We were blessed with three sons. Eric (wife
Kelli), Hays, Ryan (wife Jennifer), Hays and Kyle, Overland Park, KS.
"Poppy" adored his
grandchildren, Catherine, Evelyn, Sophia, Jace, Mason, Colby and Elon. He loved
following them when they participated in sports, music and theater.While he loved all his nieces and nephews, Shelby Stouffer held a special
place in his heart. He enjoyed supporting her in Cross Country and Track
through high school and college. We also share a special "adopted"
daughter with Terry and Laurie Roth.
Hannah (Dreiling) Schmidt is the daughter none of us ever had.Greg was a member of St. Catherine
Church, Catharine. He loved our parish. He served as a past parish council member and president, and was
a sacristan for the church.
He stepped up and taught a confirmation class when the need
arose. He mowed the church and cemetery
for over 20 years. Greg helped organize
the many parish Mardi Gras and
Street Dance fund raisers. He also helped me with liturgical decorating, getting up early on Christmas, Easter and Pentecost to light the numerous candles
that were used for these special days.He was a member of the Catherine
Knights of Columbus
Council 11687 where he served as Grand Knight and Financial Secretary. He enjoyed
stuffing the hundreds of Easter Eggs that he helped hide for the Annual K of C
Easter Egg hunt. He was also a Fourth degree member of Bishop Cunningham
Assembly 282 Knights of Columbus, Hays. He served on the Advisory Board at
Thomas More Prep-Marian. He was very involved with TMP-Marian while and after
our boys were students there. He operated the time clocks at TMP-Marian's home
football and basketball games for many years, only quitting due to his health.
He enjoyed helping his buddies, Rod Fairbank and Terry Roth cooking for TMP
tailgates, Sports Booster Club Raffle and Graduation parties for the boarding
students. He and Terry built many sets for the TMP Pop Singers Dinner Theaters.
We were ACE Auction co-hosts in 2010. We received the TMP-Marian Point of Light
award in 2012 and the Jack Schramm Spirit Award in 2020.Greg was an avid Kansas City Royals and Kansas
City Chiefs fan. Greg enjoyed planting a large garden every year until his
health didn't allow it. He spent many
hours in the heat of the summer canning his produce. His salsa was the best. He
was a volunteer fire fighter for Company 2 in Catherine for a few years. He had
an infectious laugh especially when watching his favorite comedian, Jeff
Dunham. For whatever reason, he enjoyed watching Sponge Bob Square Pants. When
one of his hospice nurses learned this, she found it on his TV so he could
watch something he enjoyed. Every year he had to watch Scrooged at least once
during the Christmas season and Groundhog Day on Groundhog Day. We will be
watching Groundhog Day in his memory this year.On our many trips to KUMed the last nine years, the Topeka Zoo became a place we enjoyed making
quick stops at on
our way to KUMed or on the way home. It got our minds off of worrying what his
MRI would find and rested our minds when we didn't get the best news. His favorite animal
was Vision aka "Tank" the hippopotamus. We always had to go visit Tank.Greg will be remembered for his kind heart, his work ethic and his willingness to help others whenever he was needed and will be missed by many.Greg is survived by me, Pam (Peter) Schmidt,
his sons and their families, sisters, Jackie Jones and husband Tim of Hays and
Lisa Stouffer and husband Allen of Leavenworth, sister-in-law, Ann Schmidt,

Gregory Allen 'Greg' Schmidt

Marilyn
Joyce (Ramsey) Kaus, 80, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family
on Thursday, January 30, 2025, at the Sheridan County Health Complex in Hoxie,
Kansas.

Born
on August 5, 1944, in Colby, Kansas, Marilyn was the daughter of Ivan Elgin
Ramsey and Myrna Fawn (Wade) Ramsey. She grew up in the Colby area, where she
graduated from Colby High School in 1962.

After
high school, Marilyn began her career as a Certified Nurse Aide at St. Thomas
Hospital in Colby. She met the love of her life, John Kaus, who had recently
returned home after his military service. The two were married on May 16, 1964,
and started their life together on the Kaus family farm. Over the years, they
were blessed with five children: John, Margaret, Juanita, Marvin, and Nicholas.

A
devoted homemaker, Marilyn’s days were filled with gardening, sewing, and
caring for her family. She was an exceptional cook and was known for her large
vegetable garden, which she tended to with love and care, ensuring the pantry
was always stocked with canned or frozen vegetables. John and Marilyn shared a
passion for dancing, particularly the polka, which they enjoyed together for
many years. In her later years, Marilyn enjoyed bird watching.

Once
her children were in school, Marilyn expanded her work outside the home. She
worked as an Avon representative, drove a bus for USD 412 for nineteen years
(famously behind the wheel of “Big Red”), worked at Ramada, and later at
Walmart. She was always busy and dedicated to supporting her family. Marilyn
also served on the Hoxie School Board, USD 412, for eight years, helping to
guide the future of the students.

Above
all, Marilyn’s greatest joy was her family. She was an incredible mother and
grandmother, always putting her children and grandchildren first. Marilyn
taught her family the importance of education, kindness, and caring for others.
Her legacy of love, generosity, and hard work will live on in the hearts of all
who knew her.

Marilyn
is survived by her children: John Kaus, Margaret Corby (Eric), Juanita Erickson
(Kenny), Marvin Kaus (Kerri), and Nick Kaus; her brother, Victor Ramsey
(Shari); her sisters, Madeleine Moritz, Colleen Weaver, and Myrna Broce;
grandchildren, Lindsey Noonan (Kenton), Kaylee Soderlund (Dakota), ShayLinn Zweygardt
(Drew), Tyler Kaus (Kirsten), Braden Bieker, Ashlyn Kaus, and Ivan Kaus; and
great-grandchildren, Layton Noonan, Declan Noonan, Zander Zweygardt, Zeke
Zweygardt, Zion Zweygardt, Tegan Soderlund, and Chesley Kaus. She is also
survived by numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

She
was preceded in death by her husband, John Kaus; her parents, Ivan and Fawn
Ramsey; her daughter-in-law, JoLinn Kaus; her brothers, Elgin and Danny Ramsey;
her sister, Sharon Ramsey; and her brothers-in-law, Marvin Moritz and Ricky
Broce.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, February 6,
2025, at St. Martin’s of Tours Catholic &nbsp;Church in Seguin, Kansas. Interment will
immediately follow at the Selden Cemetery in Selden, Kansas. Visitation will
take place on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the
Mickey-Leopold Funeral Home, with family present from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM to
receive friends. The Vigil and Rosary Service will follow the visitation at
7:00 PM.

Marilyn Joyce (Ramsey) Kaus

Maxine Marie Zerr, beloved wife, mother, grandmother,
great-grandmother, and friend, entered the gates of heaven on January 29, 2025,
at 96 years old. Maxine was born on the family farm on December 25, 1928, in
rural Gove County, near Grinnell, Kansas, to Felix and Clarene (Gagnon)
Bechard. She attended school in Grainfield, Kansas where she was a member of
the high school graduating Class of 1947. Later that year, on October 7th, she
married Leonard Zerr at the St. Agnes Catholic Church in Grainfield, KS. They
soon purchased a farm nestled alongside the Saline River northeast of Park, KS
where they worked and raised their family. In the fall of 1983, they retired
and moved to Quinter, KS. Their marriage of 77 years was filled with family,
love, dancing, and travel—creating a lifetime of cherished memories and more
love than one could imagine.

Maxine was a devoted woman of deep Catholic faith. She was a
lifetime member of the Sacred Heart Parish Altar Society. She had an abundance
of talents, including baking the best cookies, quilting, crocheting, knitting,
and sewing. She found great joy in creating beautiful, handmade gifts for her
family and friends, from washcloths and scrubbies to blankets, taggies,
potholders, and more. A true admirer of sunflowers and the color yellow, Maxine
cherished the symbolism of these bright blooms representing longevity, joy, and
loyalty—values she embodied wholeheartedly. She also had a fondness for
windmills, which now stand as a lasting symbol of her life: one of strength,
resilience, and peaceful grace.

In her free time, Maxine enjoyed playing games, especially
Rummikub and pitch. She always found joy in visiting the farm, mainly to check
on the boys and make sure they were in line. Her family was the heart of her
world, and spending time with them was her greatest source of happiness. She
and Leonard enjoyed many years traveling in their motor home, visiting places
from Arizona to New York. Their favorite pastime was dancing, a love they
passed on to their children and grandchildren.

Maxine is survived by her husband, Leonard, of the home,
sons Ron (Patty) of Perry, Okla.; Duane (Darlene) of Lincoln, Neb.; Kenny (Amy)
of Stillwater, Okla.; Jim (Sheila) of Perry, Okla.; Mick (Dixie) of Park, Kan.;
daughter, Kerri Adamson (Taylor) of Rapid City, S.D., 15 grandchildren, 25
great-children (with more on the way), sisters-in-law, Marie Kriley and Irene
Bechard, multiple nieces and nephews, and special lifelong friend, Phyllis
Zerr.

Maxine was preceded in death by her parents, Felix and
Clarene; daughter, Diane Louise Zerr; siblings, Zella, Marjorie, Denora,
Leland, Harold, Leon, and Larry.

While our hearts are broken, we take comfort and peace that
Maxine is whole again and reunited with Diane, a reunion she's waited nearly 67
years for.

Services for Maxine will be held on Monday, February 3,
2025, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Park, Kan. 9:30am-Visitation with
the family, 10:30am-Rosary, 11:00am-Mass.

Maxine Marie Zerr

Ethel June Knackstedt, 91, of Hutchinson,
Kansas, and former Russell, Kansas resident, died on Friday, January 31, 2025,
at the Wesley Towers Residential Care Center in Hutchinson, Kansas.

June was born on July 06, 1933, in
Russell, Kansas, the daughter of Harry A. and Lydia I. (Bennett) Price.&nbsp; She grew up in Russell and attended Russell
public schools.&nbsp; She had 6 sisters and 1
brother and had to quit school to get a job and help provide for her
family.&nbsp; She worked 48 hours a week at
Russell Steam Laundry making 40 cents an hour and gave $5.00 a week from her
wages to help put food on the table.&nbsp; She
worked at the laundry from 1949 to 1954 and over the years she saved enough
money to buy a bicycle and clothes for herself.&nbsp;&nbsp; She met Boyd A. Knackstedt while cruising
around Russell one night with her sister in her 1947 Chevy Coupe.&nbsp; June said, “it was the first day for the rest
of my life”.&nbsp; It was love at first sight
and June and Boyd were united in marriage on June 26, 1954, at the Otterbein
United Methodist Church in Russell.&nbsp; From
this union June and Boyd were blessed with 4 children Boyd, Nancy, Dennis and
Barbara and 2 adopted boys James and Robert Oliva.&nbsp; She worked in housekeeping for the Russell
Regional Hospital for 12 years.&nbsp; She was
a longtime member of Otterbein United Methodist Church.&nbsp; She was also a Den Mother for Troop #106 and
an Assistant Girl Scout Leader.&nbsp; She
enjoyed reading, camping, fishing, and counted cross stitch.&nbsp; Most importantly, she loved spending time
with her family and grandchildren.&nbsp; She said,
“having grandchildren and great grandchildren was the best thing to ever happen
to us”.

She is survived by son Boyd W.
“Buddy” Knackstedt of Russell, daughter Nancy J. Woodyard (Wayne) of
Hutchinson, Kansas, son Dennis R. Knackstedt (Beth) of Golden, Missouri,
daughter Barbara A. Volle of Axtell, Kansas; nephew James H. Oliva of Topeka,
Kansas; grandchildren Gregory, Elsabeth, Anna, Darcey, Bridgett, Brett &amp;
Bradford; great grandchildren Jovie, Jhett, Jagson. James, Ruby, Lydia and
Myles.

June was preceded in death by her
parents, husband Boyd, 6 sisters and 1brother; nephew Bob Oliva; grandson
Matthew Oliva and son in-law Mark Volle.

A celebration of June’s life will
be held at 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, February 05, 2025, at the Otterbein Global
Methodist Church in Russell, Kansas.&nbsp;
Burial will follow at the Russell City Cemetery in Russell.&nbsp; Visitation will be from 9 A.M. to 7 P.M. on
Tuesday, February 04, 2025, at the mortuary with family greeting guests from 6
P.M. to 7 P.M. Tuesday evening at the mortuary.&nbsp;

Kansas, and former Russell, Kansas resident, died on Friday, January 31, 2025,
at the Wesley Towers Residential Care Center in Hutchinson, Kansas.June was born on July 06, 1933, in
Russell, Kansas, the daughter of Harry A. and Lydia I. (Bennett) Price.&nbsp; She grew up in Russell and attended Russell
public schools.&nbsp; She had 6 sisters and 1
brother and had to quit school to get a job and help provide for her
family.&nbsp; She worked 48 hours a week at
Russell Steam Laundry making 40 cents an hour and gave $5.00 a week from her
wages to help put food on the table.&nbsp; She
worked at the laundry from 1949 to 1954 and over the years she saved enough
money to buy a bicycle and clothes for herself.&nbsp;&nbsp; She met Boyd A. Knackstedt while cruising
around Russell one night with her sister in her 1947 Chevy Coupe.&nbsp; June said, “it was the first day for the rest
of my life”.&nbsp; It was love at first sight
and June and Boyd were united in marriage on June 26, 1954, at the Otterbein
United Methodist Church in Russell.&nbsp; From
this union June and Boyd were blessed with 4 children Boyd, Nancy, Dennis and
Barbara and 2 adopted boys James and Robert Oliva.&nbsp; She worked in housekeeping for the Russell
Regional Hospital for 12 years.&nbsp; She was
a longtime member of Otterbein United Methodist Church.&nbsp; She was also a Den Mother for Troop #106 and
an Assistant Girl Scout Leader.&nbsp; She
enjoyed reading, camping, fishing, and counted cross stitch.&nbsp; Most importantly, she loved spending time
with her family and grandchildren.&nbsp; She said,
“having grandchildren and great grandchildren was the best thing to ever happen
to us”.She is survived by son Boyd W.
“Buddy” Knackstedt of Russell, daughter Nancy J. Woodyard (Wayne) of
Hutchinson, Kansas, son Dennis R. Knackstedt (Beth) of Golden, Missouri,
daughter Barbara A. Volle of Axtell, Kansas; nephew James H. Oliva of Topeka,
Kansas; grandchildren Gregory, Elsabeth, Anna, Darcey, Bridgett, Brett &amp;
Bradford; great grandchildren Jovie, Jhett, Jagson. James, Ruby, Lydia and
Myles.June was preceded in death by her
parents, husband Boyd, 6 sisters and 1brother; nephew Bob Oliva; grandson
Matthew Oliva and son in-law Mark Volle.A celebration of June’s life will
be held at 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, February 05, 2025, at the Otterbein Global
Methodist Church in Russell, Kansas.&nbsp;
Burial will follow at the Russell City Cemetery in Russell.&nbsp; Visitation will be from 9 A.M. to 7 P.M. on
Tuesday, February 04, 2025, at the mortuary with family greeting guests from 6
P.M. to 7 P.M. Tuesday evening at the mortuary.&nbsp;

June Carolyn Phillips, 77, of
Russell, Kansas, died on Tuesday, January 28, 2025, at the Wheatland Nursing
Center in Russell.

June
was born on August 08, 1947, in Little Falls, New York, the daughter of
Deforrest Vicker and Helen Louise (Walden) Phillips.&nbsp; She moved to Russell, Kansas in 1964, and
worked for the Russell Rest Home and later became Wheatland Nursing
Center.&nbsp; She worked as a cook and
housekeeper from 1964 to 1990 when she retired.&nbsp;
She was a longtime member of the First Congregational Church of Russell.&nbsp; She enjoyed walking her dog, embroidery work
and spend quality time with her family and friends.

Surviving
family includes her sister in-law Caroldine Dale, niece Deborah Dale and nephew
Bryan Dale all of Hutchinson, Kansas.

She
was preceded in death by father Deforrest V. Phillips, mother Helen L. (Walden)
Dale and stepfather Chester E. Dale, brothers Jack Dale and David Dale and sister
Catherine Theriot and close friend Joyce Wiseman.

L. June (Reid) Bullock, age 85, of Atchison, KS,
passed away at home on January 28, 2025.

June was born on April 10, 1939, to Roy and
Evelyn (Mahan) Reid in the Good Intent township, rural Atchison County, KS.

June married William Joseph (Joe) Bullock, on
February 10, 1957, at First Christian Church, Atchison, KS. June was
predeceased by her beloved husband, Joe; her parents, Roy and Evelyn; brother,
Paul; sisters-in-law and spouses, Helen and William Thurlow, and Wilma and
Robert Thorne; and nephew, Gary Thorne. She is survived by her five children:
Joe (Sharon) Bullock, Dea (Basil) Yanke, Shelly Stohs, Brenda Bullock, and
Nancy (Chris Phipps) Bullock; 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; her
brother, David (Lois) Reid; numerous nieces and nephews; and family friend,

A Celebration of Life Service will be Saturday,
February 8, 2025, at 11 am at St. John Lutheran Church, Bendena, KS, with a
meal and visitation afterward.

L. June (Reid) Bullock

Leon Wolf, 89, Hays, died Thursday, January 30, 2025 at his
home, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born July 5, 1935 in Schoenchen, the son of Anthony
and Amelia (Dechant) Wolf.&nbsp; In 1956, he
graduated from Hays High School and he graduated from Fort Hays State
University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Arts.&nbsp; On June 18, 1960, he was united in marriage
to Mary Louise Romey at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ellis, and they
celebrated 60 years of marriage before she preceded him in death on February 6,
2021.&nbsp; He worked for Midwest Energy as a
warehouse manager, and following his retirement, was a bus driver for USD 489
for many years.&nbsp; Leon loved his family
and treasured his grandchildren and great grandchildren.&nbsp; He was a man of strong faith, an usher at St.
Joseph Catholic Church, and was actively involved with the St. Joseph Third
Degree Knights of Columbus Council #1325 and the Bishop Cunningham Fourth
Degree Knights of Columbus.&nbsp; He was a
semi-pro bowler, a skilled carpenter, and a master gardener with a yard filled
with beautiful flowers.

Survivors include his four daughters, Kim Campbell of Hays,
Pam Gaschler and husband Terry of Hays, Sherri Mong and husband Jerry of Las
Vegas, NV, and Janelle Williams and husband Terry of Russell, three sisters,
Kathy Wolf and Geri Lynde, both of Wichita, and Mildred Lusk of Huntsville, AL,
a sister-in-law, Vicki Weber of Ellis, 12 grandchildren, Ashley Lang, Alexis
Campbell, Allison Campbell, Adam Campbell, Nicki Younger, Natalie Reuter, Taryn
Graham, Sierra Diehl, Chelsea Myers, Hailey Montgomery, Sagan Schultz, and
Tyler Williams, 10 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Mary, two
brothers, Leven and Allen Wolf, and three sisters, Vera Mae Streeter, Loraine
Wolf, and Ester Wolf.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 am on
Tuesday, February 4, 2025 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Fr. Fred Gatschet
officiating.Burial will follow in St.
Anthony Cemetery in Schoenchen.

Visitation will be from 5:00 pm until 8:00 on Monday and from 9:00 am
until 9:45 on Tuesday, all at Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home.The Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus will
stand honor guard from 5:30 pm until 6:30, a vigil service will be at 6:30 pm, and

Marilyn Bennett, 71, of La
Crosse, Kansas, died on Tuesday, January 14, 2025, at the Wesley Medical Center
in Wichita, Kansas.

She was born on March 10, 1953,
in Ellis, Kansas, the daughter of Clarence D. and Myrtle S. (Bickel)
Geschwentner. Marilyn was raised in the Ellis area and graduated from Ellis
High School.

Not long after graduating from
high school she moved to Colorado and married Raymond Bennett in September
1974. They made their home in Colorado, where they raised their two
children.&nbsp; Raymond passed on March 24, 2014, and Marilyn moved to Alaska
in May 2019 with her son for a short time before returning to Colorado,
Nebraska, and finally La Crosse, Kansas, in 2023.&nbsp;

Marilyn loved music and enjoyed
knitting, playing bingo with friends, and attending weekly mass.

Marilyn is survived by her
daughter Jessica Kaufmann of Lakewood, Colorado; brother Tony Geschwentner and
wife Deb of Victoria, Kansas; sister Judy Bieker and husband Rick of Salina,
Kansas; sister Debi Wherry and husband Kyle of La Crosse, Kansas; sister Donna
Degenhardt and husband Ray of San Antonio, Texas; and two grandsons Tony
Kaufmann of Portland, Oregon, Braeden Bennett of Anchorage, Alaska and numerous
nieces and nephews.

Marilyn is preceded in death by
her twin sister Carolyn, parents, husband, and son Justin Bennett.

A private family internment will

Edna Florence Niermeier, 95, of Hoxie, Kansas, passed away
peacefully on Monday, January 27, 2025, at the Sheridan County Long Term Care.
She was born on March 13, 1929, in Rural Sheridan County, Kansas, to Ernest and
Sophie (Friedrichs) Wasserman.

Edna grew up on the family farm with her siblings, where
she developed a love for the simple joys of farm life, including riding her
horse, Molly. She attended Immanuel Lutheran Parochial School, graduating from
the eighth grade. At the age of thirteen, shortly after her mother’s passing,
Edna stayed home to help care for her older brother, Gilbert, and her father.
She later worked for Vic Newland at Vic’s Grocery Store and became an active
member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, where she met her future husband, Herman
Niermeier.

With the help of her sister, Lucille, and brother-in-law,
Oscar Hesterberg, Edna and Herman’s friendship blossomed into love, leading to
their marriage on October 29, 1950. Together, they built a life on the farm
Herman had owned, raising six children and working side by side in all aspects
of farm life. Edna was known for her tireless work ethic—whether driving the
tractor, tending to cattle and chickens, or caring for a bountiful garden. She
was also a talented cook and an avid crafter, always keeping her hands busy
with embroidery and other handiwork.

Above all, Edna was a devoted mother and grandmother,
putting others before herself. She was a “Bright Star” in the lives of her
children and grandchildren, who cherished her unwavering love and support. Her
spunky, determined spirit touched all who knew her.

Edna is survived by her six children, Fred Niermeier
(Nancy), Gary Niermeier, Dave Niermeier (Shirley) of Hoxie, Kansas; Stan
Niermeier of Colby, Kansas; Vi Wegele (Randy) of Wakeeney, Kansas; and Judy Ayala
of McKinney, Texas; along with her 11 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, 7
great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Niermeier;
her parents, Ernest and Sophie Wasserman; her brother and sister-in-law,
Gilbert and Edith Wasserman; her sisters and brothers-in-law, Lucille and Oscar
Hesterberg, and Evelyn and Loyal Packer; son-in-law, Andrew Ayala; and her
great-great-grandson, Andrew Ayala V.

A funeral service to celebrate Edna’s life will be held at
10:30 AM on Monday, February 3, 2025, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Hoxie,
Kansas, with interment immediately following in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery.

Constance 'Connie' Lorene Musgrove, 76, passed away
peacefully on January 21, 2025, at Gove County Medical Center. She was born on
September 14, 1948, in Beloit, Kansas, to Orley and Corinne (Stone) Musgrove,
who instilled in her a deep love for music, nature, and education.

Connie graduated from Manhattan High School in 1966 and
earned her degree from Kansas State University in 1970. She devoted over 30
years to teaching music, inspiring students at schools in Centralia and
Grainfield, Kansas. She may have never had biological children of her own, but
she cared deeply for all her students, nurturing them like family throughout
her three decades of teaching and two decades as a para-educator. Her passion
for music was limitless, and she poured her heart into shaping young minds,
instilling in them a deep appreciation for its beauty and power.

Connie’s hobbies were a vibrant reflection of her
personality and zest for life. Music was the core of her being; whether she was
learning new pieces on her cherished white, Baldwin, baby grand piano or
attending live performances by the United States Marine Band, Navy Band, and
Army Band, music brought her unparalleled joy. Her garden was her sanctuary,
where she lovingly nurtured delicate flowers, with hibiscus being her favorite.
She found peace and beauty in every petal she tended.

Connie also had an adventurous spirit, cherishing her
travels to the mountains of Colorado with her parents. The crisp mountain air,
taking in the views, camping trips in their pull-behind camper, or cozy stays
in a cabin—especially during autumn’s brilliant display of colors—were among
her most cherished memories. These trips were held close to her heart. Connie’s
love for dogs was another hallmark of her kindness; even after losing her own,
she found joy in visiting neighbors’ dogs and never forgot to bring them
treats.

Her selfless generosity continued even in death, as she
donated her corneas to ensure another person could experience the gift of
sight—a truly life-changing legacy.

Connie was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Orley
and Corinne Musgrove, and Alma Golden of Grainfield, KS, who was like a second
mother to her. Her memory lives on in the countless lives she touched with her
warmth, creativity, and love.

A memorial service to honor Connie’s life will be held at
2:00PM on Thursday, January 30, 2025, at Schmitt Funeral Home, 901 South Main
St., Quinter, KS. A private burial next to her parents will take place in
Grainfield Cemetery at a later date.

Debra S. (Engler) Erb, 71, passed away on January 27, 2025
at Residence Begonia II at Crestview Senior Living in Wichita, Kansas.&nbsp; She was born July 11, 1953, in Garden City,
Kansas the daughter of Herman and Colleen (Salmans) Engler.&nbsp; 

Debra was a 1971 graduate of Ness City High School.&nbsp; Following graduation, she married Paul
Schwien, on May 29, 1971.&nbsp; To this union,
they had twin boys, (Cory and Barry), that she loved dearly.&nbsp; They later divorced.&nbsp; 

On December 15, 1995, she married Rod Erb in Hays,
Kansas.&nbsp; They later moved to Ransom,
Kansas.

Debra enjoyed working at the Ransom Library, where she loved
reading books and playing games with all of the children, especially her
grandchildren.&nbsp; She made the best
mulberry dumplings and butterball soup, and she loved sharing it with her
family.&nbsp; She spoiled the grandchildren
with an endless supply of Dr. Thunder, and a freezer full of Uncrustables.&nbsp; She had a passion for Kansas University
Basketball, and caring for her two dogs, Mollie and Sammy.

Debra is survived by husband Rod Erb, of Ransom; her
children, Cory (Tracee) Schwien of Ness City, and Barry (Sharla) Schwien of
Bazine; a sister Mary (Fred) Erb of Longmont, Colorado; a brother Jeff
(Jennifer) Smith of Ness City; as well as 9 grandchildren and 5
great-grandchildren.&nbsp; She was preceded in
death by her parents, and her sister Patty (Neil) Meckfessel of Rozel, Kansas.

Funeral Service will be on Friday, January 31, 2025 at 10:30
a.m., at the Ness City Methodist Church, Ness City, Kansas.&nbsp; Burial in the Ness City Cemetery, Ness City,

Debra S. (Engler) Erb

Norman
Joseph Robben, age 70, of Walker, Kansas, passed away surrounded by loved ones
at his home in Walker on Saturday, January 25, 2025.



Norman was born on June 8, 1954, in Hays, Kansas, to Wilfred and Viola
(Hammerschmidt) Robben. A proud graduate of Victoria High School in 1972, he
pursued his passion for mechanics at Goodland Vo-Tech, earning a degree in Auto
Body Mechanics in 1974. On October 9, 1976, he married the love of his life,
Linda Staab, in Hays, beginning a beautiful journey together that would span
nearly five decades.



Throughout his life, Norman wore many hats, but his heart belonged to farming
and ranching. He dedicated his hands to various roles in the workforce,
including stints at Herb Lungren Chevrolet, Chapman Auto Glass, Don Pratt
Farms, Raines and Williams, Edsco Drilling, King of the Road manufacturing, and
Enersys. However, it was on the farm that he found his true fulfillment.



A devoted member of St. Ann’s Church in Walker and a 3rd degree member of the
Victoria Council Knights of Columbus, Norman served his communities with love
and dedication. His contributions as a board member for St. Ann’s Parish, the
Victoria School Board, the Walker Water District and Water District #5 boards
reflected his commitment to those around him.

Norman was a man of many interests; he delighted in sports, cherished the
companionship of his beloved dogs, and found joy in fishing and, of course,
farming. But above all, he reveled in the company of his grandchildren, who
brought him immeasurable pride. Known for his larger-than-life personality and
his penchant for humor, Norman touched the hearts of all he met, embodying a
spirit of kindness and hard work.



Norman's legacy lives on in his beloved wife, Linda; his son, Jason Robben of
Victoria, Kansas; daughter Christina Sramek and husband Ryan of Hays; and
grandchildren, including Haley Gagnon and husband Connor of Walker, along with
their children Whitten, Wilkes, and Banks, as well as Talyn Robben of Victoria.
He is also survived by his brothers, Leroy Robben and wife Karen, and Melvin
Robben and wife Patty, all of Salina.



He was preceded in death by his parents; his in-laws, Virgil and Wilma Staab;
brother, James Robben and wife Jane; grandson, Landry Robben;
great-granddaughter, Blakely Gagnon; and nephew, Kevin Staab.



Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Friday, January 31, 2025 at St. Ann's
Catholic Church in Walker with Fr. Jim Moster officiating. Inurnment will
follow in the church cemetery.



Memorial visitation will be Thursday 4:30 PM - 7:00 PM and Friday 9:00 AM until
service time all at the church.



A combined parish vigil service followed by a Victoria council 3rd degree
Knights of Columbus rosary will be at 7:00 PM on Thursday at the church.
