
Dean Arthur Neuburger, 67, Hays, died Friday, May 22, 2026 at HaysMed.
He was born September 5, 1958 in Hays, the son of Edward “Eddie” and Kathleen “Kay” (Wiesner) Neuburger. Dean grew up in Ellis and graduated from Ellis High School in 1976. On November 18, 1977, he was united in marriage to Ruth Garza in Hays. They celebrated 11 years of marriage before she preceded him in death on January 25, 1988. Dean worked his whole life at Western Aluminum and Glass Co., a company founded by his dad, Eddie Neuburger. He loved playing cards and cooking great meals for his family and friends. He made a huge impact in the lives of everyone who knew him. Dean was an amazing dad to his three children, Deanna, Shelly, and Dion, and grandfather to six beautiful grandchildren, Marissa, Aaliyah, Jayden, Ariel, Ace, and Dani. He lost his battle to cancer on May 22.
Survivors include his son Dion Neuburger and wife Ashley of Hays, his daughter Deanna Faraone of Vista, California, six grandchildren Marissa, Aaliyah, Jayden, Ariel, Ace, and Dani, his brother Glen Neuburger and wife Anita of Hays, four sisters, Billie Fuller of Salina, Kathleen Morris of Newton, Peggy Waldschmidt of Olathe, and Donetta Robben and husband Lester of Hays, two sisters-in-law Susan Murphy and husband Donald of Leavenworth and Sheila Neuburger of Kansas City, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Ruth, his daughter Shelly Kay Neuburger and three brothers Daniel, Tom, and Mark Neuburger.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 am on Monday, June 8, 2026 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church with Fr. Nick Parker officiating. Inurnment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 9:00 am until service time with recitation of Rosary at 9:30 am, all on Monday, June 8, 2026 at the church. Memorials are suggested to Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church.
