🤼‍♂️ Area wrestlers ranked heading into state tournaments

Three Hays High wrestlers are ranked again this week in the final 5A boys rankings of the season released Tuesday from the Kansas Wrestling Coaches Association.

Senior Gavin Meyers continues to hold down the top spot at 220. Sophomore Harley Zimmerman is second at 132 and senior Gavin Nutting is sixth at 285. The three along with five other teammates will compete at the 5A State Tournament on Friday and Saturday at Hartman Arena in Park City.

Plainville has five ranked in 3-2-1A. Junior Cohen Kaiser is fourth at 106, senior Logan Normandin is third at 132, senior Ben Hansen sixth at 182, junior Kyle Werner third at 195 and senior Draxton Hovis sixth at 220.

Ellis has three ranked. Sophomore Mason Younger is second at 120, senior George Crawford fifth at 160 and senior Mason Gottschalk third at 182.

Trego senior Tanner Sells is ranked fifth at 152.

Hoxie, who won the Norton regional Saturday, is No. 1 again this week in the team rankings. Norton is second, Hill City third and Plainville fourth. Smith Center is eighth and Ellis ninth.

The 3-2-1A State Tournament begins Friday at Fort Hays State's Gross Memorial Coliseum.
