KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — The Kansas City Chiefs traded away Tyreek Hill and watched Tyrann Mathieu depart in free agency, bidding adieu to two of the cornerstones that helped the franchise rise from mediocrity to AFC juggernaut.

They spent the second night of the NFL draft finding some replacements.

The Chiefs traded back four spots with New England to take Western Michigan wide receiver Skyy Moore on Friday night, then used their other second-round pick on Cincinnati safety Bryan Cook, adding them to a first-round haul of Washington cornerback Trent McDuffie and Purdue defensive end George Karlaftis.

The Chiefs used their late third-round pick to add big, rangy Wisconsin linebacker Leo Chenal, and they have one pick apiece in the fourth and fifth rounds and four more in the seventh before the draft concludes Saturday.

"We're always looking at the value of the board and marrying up the need," said Mike Borgonzi, the Chiefs' director of football operations. "It fell to us again this year. We were able to fill some needs as well as where they sat on the board. We weren't reaching for these players. We got value for where we were at on the board but filled need as well."

Each of the Chiefs' first four picks have filled areas of need: three to shore up coordinator Steve Spagnuolo's defense after it struggled mightily down the stretch last season, and an electrifying playmaker for quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

The Patriots used the No. 50 pick from Kansas City to select Baylor wide receiver Tyquan Thornton. Two more teams ahead of the Chiefs also grabbed receivers with Pittsburgh taking George Pickens and Indianapolis picking Alec Pierce.

But the target for the the Chiefs was Moore, whose 5-foot-10 frame, 4.41 time in the 40 and burst off the line will remind some of Hill, the three-time All-Pro that Kansas City shipped to Miami for a package of draft picks.

"Tyreek was just a super versatile, super fast game. He was able to bring the speed to that offense," Moore said. "I really honestly feel like I can come in and bring that same thing and bring my own twist to it."

The Chiefs have also signed former Steelers wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster and former Packers deep threat Marquez Valdes-Scantling in free agency. But the shifty, slippery Moore offers a different dynamic in the wide receiver room, giving quarterback Patrick Mahomes another target who has the ability to make things happen after the catch.

"It's impressive to see what he's done the past three seasons. He had a monster year last year," Borgonzi said. "The one thing you see with him is he's just dependable, a really smooth route-runner."

Moore actually played quarterback in high school before moving to wide receiver at Western Michigan, where he became an immediate star. Despite never having played the position, he started 12 of 13 games as a freshman and had 53 catches for 802 yards with three touchdowns, and then improved those numbers each of the next two seasons.

He wound up catching 95 passes for 1,292 yards and 10 touchdowns for the Broncos last season.

"I'm a very versatile, tough, smart and savvy wide receiver. A lot of the traits the fanbase has and the organization has are already instilled in me," said Moore, the seventh wide receiver taken in the first 22 picks of the second round and the 13th taken in the draft overall. "The Chiefs are the best organization, the best offense to compliment my playing style."

The Chiefs used their other second-round pick on Cook, a hard-hitting safety who rarely misses a tackle and excels against the run, and their third-rounder on Chenal, whose size makes him an intriguing prospect at linebacker.

The Chiefs were among the league's worst last season at pressuring the quarterback, and they weren't particularly good against the run, either. So it made sense that Kansas City would address the defense on the first two days of the draft, first with McDuffie and Karlaftis on Day 1 and then with Cook and Chenal on Day 2.

The Chiefs already have signed former Texans safety Justin Reid in free agency, giving them a replacement for Mathieu in the defensive backfield. And they have Juan Thornhill under contract one more year. That means Cook is likely to help with three-safety sets right away with the chance to supplant Thornhill as the regular starter down the road.

"They're going to have a phenomenal scheme as well as staff," Cook said. "I'm just ready to help the Chiefs get those Ws."

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Aaron Judge, Giancarlo Stanton, Anthony Rizzo and Gleyber Torres all homered and the New York Yankees won their seventh in a row, beating the Kansas City Royals 12-2 Friday night in a rain-shortened game.

New York took a 3-2 lead into the seventh before scoring four runs, three on Judge’s homer. Torres connected for a two-run drive during a five-run eighth.

“It was a close game,” Yankees manager Aaron Boone said. “We get out of the gates with three runs, but it was 3-2 going into the seventh. There were some really good at-bats that set that up."

Nestor Cortes (1-0) allowed one earned run and eight hits in five innings.

“For the first two innings they were on my stuff,” Cortes said. "Obviously you have to make adjustments. I started attacking the outside part of the plate more, and it gave me better results.”

The Yankees wasted little time in putting pressure on Kris Bubic (0-2). D.J. LeMahieu hit a leadoff double to the wall in right field, and Judge lined out to center before Rizzo homered to center.

“You want to come out and start strong,” Rizzo said. “Obviously the first inning to get three runs for Nestor, who obviously grinded today, whenever you can get our staff runs early, so they can go out and pitch is nice. Judgy breaking it open in the seventh, and us scoring nine late, was another energizing thing for this team."

“Even when we go through innings where we don’t score runs, we know there’s big numbers on the way," he said.

Stanton hit a 429-foot home run over the bullpen in left, and the Royals got a reliever up in the bullpen. But that was all the Yankees got off Bubic, who retired the next 10 batters and 14 of the final 15 he faced.

“I thought we had really good at-bats against him in that first inning,” Boone said. “But to his credit — I know it’s been a tough start to the season for him— he kind of settled in and made some pitches. We didn’t mount that much of an attack. Good job by him.”

Salvador Perez snapped an 0-for-16 skid with an RBI double in the Royals first.

Bobby Witt Jr. doubled with one out in the second, extending his hitting streak to eight games. He then broke early and outraced Torres to third, but overslid the bag — Royals manager Mike Matheny was ejected when he argued that Torres pushed Witt off the base.

Isiah Kiner-Falefa singled with one out in the Yankees seventh, Kyle Higashioka walked and LeMahieu lined an RBI single off the glove of shortstop Nicky Lopez.

Yankees OF Aaron Hicks was reinstated from the paternity list. He missed three games. He took the roster spot of HRP Ron Marinaccio, who was optioned to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

COLBY – The Hays High softball team ended their busy week of
four doubleheaders, all on the road, in five days with a sweep in Colby Friday.
After winning game one 20-6, the Indians took the second contest 19-4 to move
to 10-6 on the season.

The Indians are scheduled to play at home for the first time since April 19th on Tuesday
when they host Liberal in a doubleheader at the Bickle-Schmidt Sports Complex.

Game 1: Hays 20, Colby 6 (5 innings) 
Lainey Hardman had four hits including two home runs and drove in five runs in
the run-rule victory. Riley Dreher also had four hits including a home run and
drove in four.

After both teams scored a run in the first, the Indians took
the lead for good with another run in the second then nine in the top of the third
on a Hardman three-run homer and a Dreher two-run shot, the first of her
career.

Colby scored four in the bottom of the third, but Hays quickly
answered with a seven-run fourth which was started with a solo homer from Hardman.

Aubree Thomas (5-4) allowed four earned runs on 10 hits with
eight strikeouts and no walks in the complete game victory.

Game 2: Hays 20, Colby 4 (3 innings) 
The Indians broke open a one-run game with a 15-run third inning. The first
five runs scored before the first out was recorded.

Following a single and a walk, Avery Solida singled to left
driving in the first run. The Indians added the next run on an error, then a
walk and back-to-back base hits from Dezarae Schmidt and Lainey Hardman pushed
the lead to 9-3. Madyson Sennett later added a three-run homer.

Hays led 4-0 after an inning and half only to see Colby hit
a three-run homer in the bottom of the second to make it a one-run game.

Schmidt, Morgen Berry, Elle Dreiling and Solioda all had multi-hit
games. Berry and Sennett both drove in three runs with Schmidt, Riley Dreher and
Ashlyn Zimmer all driving in two.

Riley Dreher (5-2) allowed two earned runs on five hits with
four strikeouts and no walks and picked up the win.

KANSAS CITY, Kan. – The Hays High baseball team battled until

The Jaguars (15-1) scored the game winning run on a one-out
squeeze play in the bottom of the sixth.

The Indians (9-5) scored all three of their runs in the first
to grab the early lead. With one out, Dylan Dreiling singled then Dalton Dale
doubled. Derek Riggs drove in both with a single to center. With two outs, Jack
Fields singled to center and knocked in the third run.

Blue Valley West scored three in the third to tie the game
where it remained until the sixth when they used a single and two sac bunts to
drive in what proved to be the winning run.

Dylan Dreiling (1-1) took the loss, allowing two earned runs
on nine hits with seven strikeouts and no walks.

Derek Riggs and Bradyn Dreher each had two of the Indians 11
hits with Riggs driving in two runs.

Dylan Dreiling, Garrett Wellbrock and Carson Spray were named to the all-tournament team.

The Indians host their own Western Plains Diamond Classic this Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

The Monarchs had one on with two outs in the top of the fifth when wind gusts made playing conditions nearly impossible due to blowing dirt and the game was suspended one out shy of being official.&nbsp;

CLAREMORE, Okla. – Fort Hays State saw any hopes of a push for the MIAA Tournament dashed on Friday with a pair of shutout losses to Rogers State. Tiger pitchers&nbsp;<a href="https://fhsuathletics.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=6352">Savanah Egger</a>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<a href="https://fhsuathletics.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=6345">Bailey Carlson</a>&nbsp;both had strong performances in the circle, only to be upstaged by Andrea Morales and M'Kayla Hillman who combined to keep the Tiger offense scoreless on the day. No. 6 ranked Rogers State moved to 41-9 overall, 18-6 in the MIAA, while FHSU is now 23-28-1 overall, 9-15 in the MIAA. Game 1: Rogers State 1, Fort Hays State 0 Andrea Morales of Rogers State, one of the top pitchers in the nation, darted postseason hopes for the Tigers in the first contest of the day by throwing a 14 strikeout no-hitter. She was just two strikeouts shy of her single-game career high and she fanned eight of the first nine Tigers she faced in the game. ⚾ Tigers series opener with UCM postponed, DH Saturday

BELOIT – The TMP-Marian girls finished fourth and the boys seventh
in the 3-4A Division at the Beloit Relays Friday.

Kassidi Yost was the lone event winner for the girls, taking
the high jump. Gracyn Schipppers finished second in the 400 and Shalee
Gottschalk was second in the 100 hurdles and triple jump. The 4x800 relay also
placed second.

Jace Wentling finished first in the long jump and triple
jump. Kade Harris finished second in the long jump.

👟 Monarch girls fourth, boys seventh at Beloit Relays

MCPHERSON - The Hays High girls track team won the McPherson
Invitational Thursday while the boys finished third. The Hays High boys had
four individual champions, in five events and won the 4x100. 

Jordan Dale won the high jump with a
new school record six-feet 10 and a quarter inches.

Kyreese Groen won the long
and triple jump and Wyatt Waddell won the javelin. The 4x1 relay team also
finished first.

The Hays High girls Lilian McGrath won the long jump and
Caira Augustine won the triple jump. They had 23 medal winners.

MCPHERSON - The Hays High girls track team won the McPherson
Invitational Thursday while the boys finished third. The Hays High boys had
four individual champions, in five events and won the 4x100. Jordan Dale won the high jump with a

The TMP-Marian baseball team record a pair of one-run wins
over Holcomb Thursday in Hays.

Game 1: TMP 7, Holcomb 6 The Monarchs scored runs in five of the seven innings, including
a run on an error in the bottom of the seventh lifting TMP to a 7-6 win in the first game of the doubleheader.

The Monarchs opened the game with a three-run first. 

After a Mark Rack single an error by the Holcomb shortstop
allowed Rack to score, putting TMP up 1-0. The Monarchs added runs on a
fielder’s choice and a Nick Helget RBI single to take a 3-0 lead.

Holcomb got a run back in the second inning for a 3-1
TMP lead.

TMP then added single runs in the third, four and fifth innings.

They scored runs on a dropped third strike, an error and a
Joey Mindrup RBI single to put TMP up 6-3.

Holcomb scored three runs in the top of the seventh tying
the game at six.

In the bottom of the seventh, TMP’s Nick Helget reached
on an error to leadoff the inning before Garrett Feauto singled to right and an
error on the right fielder allowed Helget to scored giving TMP a 7-6 win.

Caden Morgan and Nick Helget each drove in a run. Helget and
Mark Rack collected a pair of hits.

Nick Herrman earned the win in relief. He allowed three runs
on four hits in three and two-thirds innings. 

Game 2: TMP 6, Holcomb 5 The Monarchs scored three runs in the fifth inning as they
rallied for a 6-5 win over Holcomb in game two.

Caden Morgan got the scoring started with an RBI single in
the bottom of first. 

Holcomb scored five runs in the second building a 5-1 lead.
The Longhorns took advantage of four walks, two sacrifice flies and an error in
the inning.

TMP was able to cut the lead to 5-3 scoring single runs in
the third and fourth innings.

They scored on a groundout in the third inning and an error
in the fourth.

The Monarchs retook the lead for good in the bottom of the
fifth scoring three times to take a 6-5 lead.

Two of the Monarchs runs came on a two-run Longhorn error after a Nick Herrman single tying the game at five and the Herrman scored on a
wild pitch putting TMP up 6-5.

Nick Helget got the win with five innings of relief. He
allowed just one run on three hits with two walks and two strikeouts in five

Caden Morgan collected two hits and bride in a run for TMP.

The Monarchs improved to 6-4 with the sweep.

⚾TMP baseball completes sweep of Holcomb

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Brett Veach kept eyeing the draft board as the first round ticked away, knowing full well that two picks Thursday night and 10 more over the next couple of days gave him plenty of options on both sides of the ball.

The Chiefs' general manager decided to address the defensive side first.

In a serendipitous first round in which the best players left on their board also fulfilled the Chiefs' biggest needs, Veach traded up to select Washington cornerback Trent McDuffie with the 21st pick and then added Purdue defensive end George Karlaftis at No. 30, all while holding onto&nbsp;<a href="https://www.miamiherald.com/sports/article260663857.html">both of his second-round choices Friday night</a>.

“We wanted to add some depth on defensive line, add depth in the secondary — it worked out. It's usually not the case,” Veach said. “We have a lot of picks and we wanted to make sure we used them selectively.”

<a href="https://apnews.com/hub/nfl">They wound up sending the 29th pick</a>&nbsp;along with selections in the third and fourth round to New England to jump ahead of the Bills, who also were targeting a cornerback, and land one of the most versatile players at the position.

McDuffie, a track standout in the 100 and 200 meters, has the speed and athleticism to play in the slot or on the outside, making him a good fit for Chiefs defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo's scheme. He allowed just one reception of at least 20 yards last season for Washington, and he did not allow a touchdown catch in his past two seasons.

“I look at myself like Tyrann Mathieu, somebody that is going to be able to go in and play a bunch of different positions and help the team as much as I can,” McDuffie said. “That's the biggest thing for me: However I can get on the field, however I can help this team, I'm going to do whatever I can to do it.”

The Chiefs had a pressing need at cornerback after Charvarius Ward left for the 49ers in free agency. But they were expected to address the position with one of their original first-round picks or in the second or third round, rather than making an aggressive jump up the board for one of the top players the position.

McDuffie was the third cornerback taken after the Texans selected LSU's Derek Stingley Jr. at No. 3 and the Jets grabbed Cincinnati's Ahmad Gardner No. 4. The Bills took Florida cornerback Kaiir Elam two picks after Kansas City.

“Very seldom do you have the highest player on the board at that time for us, and it's a position of need,” Chiefs coach Andy Reid said, “and that's when you try to go up and get a guy.”

It was the first time the Chiefs chose a cornerback in the first or second round since 2015, when they took Marcus Peters out of Washington at No. 18 overall. But unlike Peters, whose character questions in college followed him to Kansas City, the 21-year-old McDuffie has earned rave reviews for his leadership and maturity.

McDuffie's job in the new-look Kansas City secondary, where safety Justin Reid was signed in free agency to replace All-Pro safety Mathieu, should be made a little easier with Karlaftis getting after the quarterback.

The native of Greece, who moved to the U.S. when he was 13 and picked up football relatively late, had 39 tackles and 4 1/2 sacks for the Boilermakers last season. Karlaftis wound up with 14 sacks and 29 tackles-for-loss during his three seasons in West Lafayette, and is a natural fit for the 4-3 scheme run in Kansas City.

"I've only played football for six or seven years now," he said. “I feel like my best football is ahead of me."

The Chiefs had just 31 sacks last season, better only than three other teams in the NFL.

“I get after the quarterback. I stop the run. I feel like I'm a three-down player that can do anything and everything asked of them,” Karlaftis said. “I had some meetings with the Chiefs and just couldn't have asked to be in a better situation.”

Most expected Veach and Co. to chase one of the top wide receivers in the first round after dealing three-time All-Pro Tyreek Hill to the Dolphins for a package of draft picks earlier this offseason. But they've already plugged the hole in part by signing JuJu Smith-Schuster and Marquez Valdes-Scantling, and they still have plenty of picks at their disposal.

Their trade with the Patriots, sending them No. 94 and No. 121, allowed the Chiefs to keep their two second-round picks at No. 50 and No. 62. The Chiefs also have a third-round pick at No. 103 on Friday night, along with a fourth-rounder and four picks in the seventh round when the draft concludes on Saturday.

“As much as I love Thursday, our staff loves Friday and Saturday even more,” Veach said. “This is when we have a lot of fun the next few days and I'm looking forward to it."

🏈 Chiefs address defense with McDuffie, Karlaftis in 1st round

HAYS – The Hays High softball team went 2-0 Thursday in a triangular
with Sacred Heart and TMP while their crosstown rival Monarchs went 0-2
dropping a pair of one-run games.

Game 1: Sacred Heart 4, TMP 3 The first game of the day turned into a pitchers duel that
saw Sacred Heart rally for a pair of runs in the sixth inning to beat TMP 4-3.

Knights starter Emilee Blythe retired the first 10 Monarchs
she faced until Hannah Garcia broke up the perfect game with a one-out single
in the bottom of the fourth inning.

Blythe earned the win for Sacred Heart. She allowed just
three runs on four hits with 12 strikeouts and just two walks.

The Knights were able to push across single runs in the
first and third innings.

Down 2-0 TMP’s offense was able to get to Blythe for three
runs in the bottom of the fifth inning. 

Jessica Herrman lead off the inning with a double and then
with one out Julianna Baalman walked. After Baalman stole second her and
Herrman scored on a pair of wild pitches that tied the game at two.

Sophie Allen walked with two outs in the inning and then
Halle Dreiling gave the Monarchs the lead with a two-out RBI single to put TMP
up 3-2.

Sacred Heart answered right back in the top of the fourth inning.
They recorded back-to-back doubles that tied the game and then an RBI single
put them back on top 4-3.

Madison Augustine suffered the loss for TMP. She allowed
four runs over seven innings.

Game 2: Hays 14, Sacred Heart 4 (6 inn.) The Hays High Indians used a seven-run first inning on their
way to a 14-4 win in six innings in the second game of the day against Sacred Heart.

After Sacred Heart scored a run in the top of the first the
Indians answered back in the bottom of the inning sending 11 to the plate in a
seven-run first.

The first two batters of the inning reach on an error and
hit-by-pitch, Lakyn Zimmerman drive in a run with a single, Elle Dreiling
doubled in a run and Morgen Berry added a two-RBI single to put Hays up 4-1. 

Then with two outs and a walk Ashlyn Zimmer doubled in a pair
of runs and Aubree Thomas added another RBI double giving Hays a 7-1 lead. Hays
record five hits, a walk, hit-by-pitch and reached on an error in the seven-run
first.

Sacred Heart added two more runs in the second and one in
the top of the fourth cutting the Hays lead to 7-4 through and three and a half
innings.

Hays added two in the fourth on a groundout and an error and
then added five more in the fifth expanding their lead to 13-4. The final run
came on a wild pitch in the bottom of the sixth giving Hays the 14-4 win in six
innings.

Hays’ Riley Dreher earned the win. She allowed four unearned
runs on seven hits with five strikeouts in six innings.

Ashlynn Zimmer and Lakyn Zimmerman drove in three runs each.
Aubree Thomas finished three-for-four at the plate with two RBI’s.

Game 3: Hays 13, TMP 12 The Hays High Indians scored in five of seven innings,
including a six-run sixth on their way to a 13-12 win over TMP in the final game of the day.

Hays opened the game with a three-run first inning. All
three runs came with two outs. 

Lakyn Zimmerman, Elle Dreiling and Morgen Berry collected
three straight run-scoring doubles putting Hays up 3-0.

TMP answered right back in the bottom of the inning scoring
four runs to take a one-run lead into the second inning. 

Jaci VonLintel single in a pair of runs to get the scoring
started. Alexa Ryersee singled home a third run tying the game at three. Then
Julianna Baalman’s RBI single gave TMP a 4-3 lead after one inning.

Hays retook the lead in the second, scoring two runs with
two outs for a 5-4 lead. Back-to-back run scoring doubles from Dez Schmidt and
Riley Dreher put Hays back on top.

Hays added a sixth run in the fourth for a 6-4 lead.

In the bottom of the fifth Ryersee tripled home a pair runs
tying the game six.

With the game tied at six through five innings Hays’ offense
exploded for six runs in the top of the sixth.

Hays took advantage of four TMP errors in the inning and got
a two-run single from Ashlynn Zimmer, a two-run Lakyn Zimmerman double and an RBI
groundout to take a 12-6 lead into the bottom of the sixth. 

Hays added a 13th run on a sacrifice fly in the
top of the seventh building a 13-6 lead.

With the Monarchs down to their final three outs they would
mount a massive comeback, scoring six runs in the inning but left the tying run
on base coming up short in a 13-12 Hays win.

Three of the first four batters of the inning reached on
singles. A Ryersee RBI single made it 13-7 Hays.

After a walk TMP pushed across another run on a Hays error
making it 13-8.

Two batters later Hannah Garcia triple in three runs to pull
TMP within two at 13-11.

A Brooke Koenigsman RBI single made it 13-12 but TMP ended
the game with a groundout with Hays securing the 13-12 win.

Hays’ Aubree Thomas earned the win. She allowed 12 runs,
just four were earned on 13 hits with seven strikeouts and two walks in seven
innings.

Madison Augustine suffered the loss. She allowed 13 runs,
just three earned on 10 hits with two walks in seven innings.

Hays’ Lakyn Zimmerman was two-for-four with three RBI’s. Riley
Dreher and Aubree Thomas each drove in a pair of runs. Morgen Berry collected
three hits.

TMP’s Hannah Garcia and Alexa Ryersee drove in three runs
each. Ryersee recorded her first career three-hit day.

a two-run single from Ashlynn Zimmer, a two-run Lakyn Zimmerman double and an RBI
groundout to take a 12-6 lead into the bottom of the sixth. Hays added a 13th run on a sacrifice fly in the
top of the seventh building a 13-6 lead.With the Monarchs down to their final three outs they would
mount a massive comeback, scoring six runs in the inning but left the tying run
on base coming up short in a 13-12 Hays win.Three of the first four batters of the inning reached on
singles. A Ryersee RBI single made it 13-7 Hays.After a walk TMP pushed across another run on a Hays error
making it 13-8.Two batters later Hannah Garcia triple in three runs to pull
TMP within two at 13-11.A Brooke Koenigsman RBI single made it 13-12 but TMP ended

PARKVILLE, Mo. – The Hays High Indian baseball team went 2-0
on the first day of the Butch Foster Memorial Baseball Tournament hosted by
Bonner Springs High School at the Creekside Baseball Park. Dylan Dreiling
homered twice and drove in eight in the Indians 12-2 win over the host Braves
in the quarterfinals. Garrett Wellbrock struck out four with no walks to help
Hays to a 4-2 victory over Basehor Linwood in the semifinals.

Friday’s title game scheduled for 4:00 p.m. at Legends Field in Kansas City. The
Jaguars defeated Kansas City Piper 14-0 and Shawnee Mission Northwest 10-2 Thursday.Game 1: Hays 12, Bonner Springs 2 (5 innings) 
Dylan Dreiling went 3-for-3 with two home runs, a double and eight RBIs. He
put the Indians on the board in the bottom of the first with a sacrifice fly.
He gave them the lead for good with a two-run homer in the third which made the
score 3-2. Dreiling hit a towering three-run blast to right in the fourth to
push the lead to 8-2. The Tennessee commit ended the game with a two-run double
to right.Dreiling has now hit eight home runs this season which ties the HHS single-season record held by Jeremy Schmeidler in 1998.Garrett Wellbrock sent 4-for-4 with a triple, a double, an
RBI and four runs scored.Gage Porter added two hits including a double, two RBIs and
a pair of runs scored.Carson Spray scattered three hits and picked up the complete
game victory. The junior allowed one earned run on three hits with five
strikeouts and four walks.Game 2: Hays 4, Basehor Linwood 2 
Garrett Wellbrock (4-0) allowed two runs on eight hits (all singles) with four
strikeouts and no walks and picked up the complete game victory in the semifinals.
The senior pitched five scoreless innings to open the game before the Bobcats
scored two in the sixth.The Indians answered with a run in the seventh on a Derek
Riggs single to push the lead to 4-2. Wellbrock then worked around a couple of
singles with a pop up and ground out to end the game.Hays grabbed a 2-0 lead in the third on Wellbrock’s two-run
single to left. They pushed the lead to 3-0 when Noah Weimer scored on an error
later in the inning.The Indian won despite being out hit 8-5.
