HAYS, Kan. – Fort Hays State baseball will play its midweek conference contest on Wednesday instead of Tuesday due to weather conditions forecasted for the Hays area. The game will still have a 3 p.m. start time.

With the game getting pushed back to Wednesday, Fort Hays State will now play four days in a row at home. The Tigers host Missouri Western in a three-game conference series Thursday through Saturday following the contest with Newman on Wednesday.&nbsp;&nbsp;

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Kaleb Hammeke&nbsp;of Fort Hays State was named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) All-District Team for the second-straight year in the Central Region. He was a repeat selection on the second team. Hammeke helped the Tigers to their 14th NCAA Tournament appearance and 23-8 overall record in 2023-24.

This is the second all-region award for Hammeke this season after also being named to the D2CCA All-Central Region Second Team. It was his first career regional honor from the D2CCA.Hammeke finished the season averaging 13.6 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 4.1 assists per game. He scored in double figures 25 times and dished out three or more assists in games 26 times. Hammeke ranks fifth all-time in scoring at FHSU with 1,559 points and fourth all-time in assists with 441.

Hammeke is a four-time All-MIAA selection overall, receiving first-team honors each of the last two seasons. In his first year on the court at FHSU, he was the MIAA Freshman of the Year.

Hammeke was one of 10 players selected to the NABC All-District Team for the Central Region. He is one of four players to earn the honor from the MIAA, joining Wes Dreamer of Northwest Missouri State, Jaden Wells of Central Oklahoma, and Alijah Comithier of Emporia State. The Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference had five selections on the team and the Great American Conference had one.

WARRENSBURG, Mo. - The Fort Hays State baseball team dropped game three against No. 2 ranked Central Missouri Sunday afternoon (March 24), 16-2. The Tigers (18-12, 6-10 MIAA) could not limit the best scoring offense in the country as the Mules (26-4, 14-2 MIAA) came away with the victory.

Fort Hays State managed to manufacture its first run in the fourth. Brady Kreutzer&nbsp;led the inning off with a double, then Trey DeGarmo&nbsp;singled up the middle to score Kreutzer. The other run came in the sixth when Cesar Saavedra&nbsp;continued his hot streak with leadoff triple. He eventually scored on an Elliott Herrmann&nbsp;single up the middle.

Trevor Baugh, Shaun Gomez, DJ Cavazos, WIll Isaly, Andrew Hansen and Garrett Wellbrock&nbsp;all saw action on the mound. Hansen recorded the only two strikeouts among the staff for the day in his 2 innings of relief. Starter Trevor Baugh (2-2) didn't get out of the first inning, giving up three runs and took the loss.&nbsp;

Central Missouri took control immediately, scoring six in the first three innings of play. They added four in the fourth and six in the sixth to bring the run rule into play as the game ended after seven innings. 

Mules starter Jack Kriesman went 5 innings, giving up just one run with eight strikeouts. Jack Scott relieved him for the final two innings.

Herrmann had two hits in the contest, with DeGarmo, Kreutzer and Saavedra contributing the only other hits for FHSU.

The Tigers return home for game two of the season series with Newman on Tuesday.

⚾ FHSU drops finale at No. 2 Central Missouri

RUSSELL – The TMP-Marian Monarchs softball team cruised to a
pair of wins Friday night 12-0 and 15-1 in their season opening doubleheader at
Russell.

In the first game the Monarchs scored in all five innings
and held Russell to just one hit in a 12-0 victory in five innings. 

TMP jumped out to an early lead, taking advantage of an
error and two walks to load the bases for Bria Windholz who drove in the game’s
first run on a sacrifice fly.

Molly Helget added an RBI single in the second putting TMP
up 2-0 through two innings.

The Monarchs offense really came to life scoring three runs in
the third and five more in the fourth. 

Brynn Rebel led off the three-run third with a double and
Brooke Koenigsman tripled home the run, making it 3-0 TMP.

Koenigsman finished with a game-high five RBI’s for TMP.

Bridget Feldt added an RBI with a sacrifice fly and then
Teagan Gottschalk singled home a run putting TMP up 5-0 through three innings.

In the bottom of the fourth the Monarchs again loaded the
bases thanks to a hit by pitch, a walk and an error in front of Koenigsman who
drove in two with an RBI single making it 7-0 TMP.

With two outs, TMP got back-to-back RBI singles from Feldt
and Gottschalk for a 10-0 TMP lead.

In the final frame, Halle Dreiling led off the fifth with a
triple and then Koenigsman drove her home with her second triple of the game,
driving in two more, putting TMP up 12-0.

TMP’s Bria Windholz went the distance in the circle. She struck
out eight and allowed just one hit with one walk in five shutout innings.

Koenigsman finished three-for-three with five RBI’s. Feldt
and Koenigsman both collected a pair of hits. 

The Monarchs scored all 15 of their runs in three innings
and held Russell to one run in a 15-1 victory in five innings.

TMP scored four runs in each of the first two innings.

Three straight singles loaded the bases in the top of the
first inning for Brynn Rebel who singled in the game’s first run. Brooke
Koenigsman followed with an RBI single of her own to put TMP up 2-0.

Two hitters later Tegan Gottschalk singled home a run and
then an error by Russell allowed the fourth run of the inning to score for TMP.

Up 4-1 through one inning, the Monarchs plated four more in
the second.

Koenigsman singled with the bases loaded making it 6-1. 

Koenigsman drove in six runs in the TMP victory.

The Monarchs then added runs on an RBI groundout from Nicole
Schumacher and a passed ball for an 8-1 lead.

Following a scoreless third inning, the TMP bats blew the
game open for good, scoring seven runs in the fourth inning.

Schumacher singled in the first run of the inning. Dreiling
added a sacrifice fly making it 10-1 TMP. Hannah Rose walked with the bases
loaded for an 11-1 TMP lead.

Two batters later Koenigsman doubled home three runs and
then scored on an error to put TMP up 15-1.

Brynn Rebel earned the win for TMP. She allowed one run on
one hit with 11 strikeouts and six walks.

All but one Monarch in the lineup collected a hit and
Koenigsman was three-for-four with six RBI’s. Gottschalk was two-for-four with two
RBI’s.

The 2-0 Monarchs will travel to Colby on April 2nd
for a doubleheader.

MANHATTAN, Kan. (AP) — Tameiya Sadler scored all 10 of her points in the second half to lead a balanced scoring attack and No. 5 seed Colorado beat four-seed Kansas State 63-50 on Sunday to advance to the Sweet 16.

The Buffaloes (24-9) will face the winner of Monday's game between No. 1 seed Iowa and No. 8 seed West Virginia Saturday in Albany, N.Y.

This was the first home sellout for Kansas State since they hosted No. 1 UConn on Dec. 11, 2016.

Colorado, which had six players with nine or more points, used an 11-2 run in the third quarter to grab its largest lead of the game at 48-41. The Buffaloes outscored K-State 19-7 in the third quarter to take a 52-42 lead into the fourth quarter.

The Wildcats (26-8) had multiple chances to trim the deficit to three in the fourth quarter, but couldn't get the shots to fall.

Gabby Gregory scored 12 points to lead Kansas State. Ayoka Lee added 10 points, 11 rebounds and six blocks.

Neither team could grab control in the first half. The first quarter ended with the score tied at 14. Kansas State used an 8-0 run early in the second quarter to open a 22-15 advantage, the largest by either team to that point.

Serena Sundell hit a 3-pointer later in the quarter and sank an accompanying free throw to give K-State a 33-24 lead. But Colorado responded with a 9-0 run to tie the game at 33-33.

Colorado: The Buffaloes were not intimidated by the partisan crowd. Every time K-State grabbed the momentum and the crowd got louder, the Buffs responded.

Kansas State: The Wildcats will be totally different next year without Lee, who anchors the middle on offense and defense. With 13 assists, K-State set a school record for assists in a season with (631). And with eight blocks, the Wildcats established a school record for blocks in a season 178.

Colorado: The Buffaloes will go to Albany to play the winner of Monday's game between No. 1 seed Iowa and No. 8 West Virginia.

The Mules notched another one in the third before the Tigers took the lead back in the top of the fifth. The Tigers scored one after a Jamison Armstrong&nbsp;single, Sebastian Burgos&nbsp;walk and then a Saavedra single up the middle. Brady Kreautzer pulled out the squeeze with Burgos on third and was able to pull it off to take a 3-2 lead. The Mules took the lead right back in the bottom half after a two RBI double. The Mules scored two more on two hits the next inning, taking a 6-3 lead.

The Tigers didn't score again until an Armstrong single drove home Kyle Morrell, who tripled earlier in the inning.&nbsp;Tiger starter Cade Flaherty&nbsp;faced 18 batters giving up five hits and four runs (two earned) while striking out a pair. Tanner Vaughn&nbsp;relieved him after four innings pitched, going two for himself. Vaughn struck out three while giving up four earned. came out to relieve Flaherty, pitching a solid 1 2/3 innings striking out a batter while giving up an earned run. Brandon Chavez and Rafael Espnoza&nbsp;were able to get an inning under their belt.

UCM went through four pitchers, striking out six while giving up seven hits and four earned runs.

Saavedra and Armstrong&nbsp;were able to get multiple hits, with eight Tigers able to reach base safely on the day.&nbsp;

Anton Watson shot 8 for 11 for 21 points on an afternoon when basically everyone in a navy jersey was a star, especially after halftime.

The fifth-seeded Zags (27-7) made their first five 3-pointers of the second half, not missing from long range until 1:30 remained and the game had long entered extended garbage time.

Mark Few's team will make its regular trip to the second weekend to play the winner of Sunday's game between Purdue and Utah State.

Nolan Hickman finished with 17 points for the Zags, and big man Graham Ike had 15 points and nine rebounds, going toe to toe with KU’s Hunter Dickinson, who finished with a quiet 15 points. Making all the Bulldogs look good was Ryan Nembhard, who blew off a rough shooting night (1 for 6) and finished with 12 assists.

While Gonzaga was cruising, parts of this looked painfully familiar to fans of the fourth-seeded Jayhawks (23-11), who have struggled with depth, shooting, consistency and injuries — leading scorer Kevin McCullar Jr. (knee) was out for the tournament. 🏀Gonzaga plays near-perfect 2nd half to dispatch Kansas

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Zakiyah Franklin scored 22 points, including&nbsp;<a href="https://twitter.com/MarchMadnessWBB/status/1771627653616865626">a tying 3-pointer that bounced on the rim and dropped</a>&nbsp;with 12 seconds left in regulation, and Kansas beat Michigan 81-72 in overtime in the first round of the women's NCAA Tournament on Saturday.

“My coach said you must be living right,” Franklin said, grinning.

Wyvette Mayberry and S'Mya Nichols added 15 points each and Taiyanna Jackson had 14 points and eight rebounds for the eighth-seeded Jayhawks (20-12).

“March is about getting everyone's best basketball,” Nichols said. “It was exciting, back and forth, not easy.”

The Jayhawks rallied in the fourth quarter, when they outscored the Wolverines 23-14. Then Kansas stepped up its defense and controlled the five-minute extra session, 14-5.

“They never fragmented,” Kansas coach Brandon Schneider said. “They just stayed the course and made some really big plays that were preceded by stop after stop.”

Lauren Hansen's 3-pointer pulled the Wolverines within 75-72. Franklin missed, but the 6-foot-6 Jackson grabbed the rebound. Nichols scored and drew the foul, extending the Jayhawks' lead to 78-72.

Franklin stole the ball with 22 seconds left and Nichols got fouled and made both.

The Jayhawks advanced to a second-round game against either No. 1 seed Southern California or 16th-seeded Texas A&amp;M-Corpus Christi.

Cameron Williams scored 18 points to lead ninth-seeded Michigan (20-14). Laila Phelia added 16 points.

“I thought they were by far the best team for three quarters,” Schneider said of Michigan. “Williams in particular did some things to us.”

Williams went to the bench after picking up her third and fourth fouls early in the fourth. Phelia made the first of two free throws for a 58-48 lead.

After Franklin's tying 3-pointer, Hansen's potential game-winning 3 missed for Michigan.

“We run this play all the time when it's late clock,” Franklin said. “We felt we were still having time to play.”

The Jayhawks got within 65-62 on a free throw by Jackson. With Kansas pressuring and the shot clock winding down, Phelia raced in for a layup that extended Michigan's lead to 67-62.

Jackson scored again and Phelia's offensive foul turned the ball over with 1:16 to play. But the Jayhawks couldn't take advantage and Nichols was called for an offensive foul.

Williams scored 10 points in the third when the Wolverines led 53-44.

The Jayhawks had a six-point lead when the Wolverines outscored them 14-5 to go into halftime leading 32-29. Jordan Hobbs and Elissa Brett hit back-to-back 3-pointers and Williams added four points in the spurt.

HAYS – The TMP-Marian Monarchs baseball team earned a split doubleheader
Friday night in the first two games of the season. The Monarchs won the first
game 18-3 but dropped the second game 10-3 at TMP Field in Hays.

The Monarchs used timely hitting and took advantage of
Larned mistakes in the first game of the day as they go on to win 18-3.

Larned scored the first three runs of the game, in the top
of the first inning, taking advantage of four walks from TMP starter Ty Schmeidler
and an error.

The Monarchs though wasted no time getting two runs back in
the bottom of the inning, scoring on an error and an RBI groundout by Kendall
Walker.

TMP continued to pile it on in the second inning, sending
15 men to the plate while scoring nine runs in the inning for an 11-3 lead. TMP
benefitted from six walks and two hit-by-pitches, scoring on five of them. They
also scored on a pair of errors and Walker drove in two more runs with a single.


Walked added another RBI single in the third and a second two-run
second in the fourth as TMP went on to the 18-3 win in four innings.

The six RBI’s is a new career-high for Kendall Walker, he
was three-for-four in game one. Schmeidler collected a pair of hits and RBI’s
in the game as well.

Schmeidler got the win, allowing three runs, two earned with
five walks and three strikeouts in two innings.

&nbsp;GAME 2: Larned 10,
TMP 3 In the second game of the doubleheader an old teammates for
some of the Monarchs, La Crosse’s Caden Morgan, limited TMP to just three
unearned runs in three and two-thirds innings in a 10-3 Larned win.

The Monarchs were held off the scoreboard until the they
plated three runs in the bottom of the fourth.

By that time TMP was already trailing 5-3. TMP scored single
runs on a pair errors and added a third on a wild pitch. &nbsp;

Larned scored in all but the fourth inning.

TMP threatened in the final three innings of the game but
were able to put any runs across as they come up short, falling 10-3.

Carson Liles struggled with him command and was the tough-luck
loser. He allowed five unearned in two innings. He recorded three walks and
three strikeouts.

TMP drops to 1-1 on the season and will travel to Ellinwood
on Tuesday.

⚾ Monarchs split with Larned in season opener

HAYS, Kan. – The Fort Hays State track and field program picked up three provisional marks Friday, at the FHSU Spring Invite hosted at the FHSU Track and Field Facility in Hays, Kan. Sophomore standout Annabeth Baalmann&nbsp;vaulted her way into&nbsp;another school record. She now holds the record in both indoor and outdoor women's pole vault.

The Tigers finished with four champions on the day, with a plethora of top five finishes. Trevor Medina&nbsp;won the men's 800 meters, completing the event in 1:54.32. Ethan Lang and Aaron Mangan&nbsp;finished close behind for a 1-2-3 Tiger finish.\

Jaycee Vath&nbsp;won the 1,500-meter run, finishing in 4:54.52. Regan Hodsden, junior long-distance runner, finished close behind, in fourth. Maggie Remsberg, representing the Tigers in the women's 100-meter hurdles, finished on top completing the event in 14.84. The Tigers' last winner of the day was senior Addie Berens. She won the women's javelin, throwing 147-11.0 feet, a provisional qualifying mark.

Toby Wahlmeier&nbsp;finished the day off with two new personal bests, one for finishing third in the 100-meter dash and the other for finishing second in the 200-meter dash. Kinley Brown&nbsp;notched a personal best as well in the women's 200 meters, where she finished in third with a time of 24.89. The 1,500-meter men finished 2-3-4 with Ethan Fisher, Jaret Pfizenmaier, and Lucorien Deboest crossing the line in succession.

The Tiger pole vaulters had themselves a day, with Baalmann notching yet another school record to continue&nbsp;her historic sophomore season. Baalmann tops the previous record of 12-8.25 feet that Selam Ball vaulted back in the 2018 outdoor season.&nbsp;On the men's side, Brady Deges&nbsp;finished with a vault of 15-10.25, a new personal best. Kurtis McCormick&nbsp;finished third in the men's pole vault for vaulting 15-4.25.

Keamonie Archie&nbsp;jumped a wind-aided national qualifying mark in the long jump, while Jayme Hargerman&nbsp;(long jump) and Abby Rueschhoff&nbsp;(triple jump) showed out on the women's side by finishing&nbsp;second in their respective events. Freshman Kyreese Groen&nbsp;posted a second-place finish in the triple jump, and finished top five in the long jump.

Following a successful FHSU Spring Invite, the Tigers will embark on separate journeys ahead, with some athletes competing in the Texas Relays in Austin, some at the WashU Distance Carnival in St. Louis, Missouri, and more at the Central Nebraska Challenge in Kearney, Nebraska.

 </figure>FHSU AthleticsHAYS, Kan. – The Fort Hays State track and field program picked up three provisional marks Friday, at the FHSU Spring Invite hosted at the FHSU Track and Field Facility in Hays, Kan. Sophomore standout Annabeth Baalmann&nbsp;vaulted her way into&nbsp;another school record. She now holds the record in both indoor and outdoor women's pole vault.The Tigers finished with four champions on the day, with a plethora of top five finishes. Trevor Medina&nbsp;won the men's 800 meters, completing the event in 1:54.32. Ethan Lang and Aaron Mangan&nbsp;finished close behind for a 1-2-3 Tiger finish.\Jaycee Vath&nbsp;won the 1,500-meter run, finishing in 4:54.52. Regan Hodsden, junior long-distance runner, finished close behind, in fourth. Maggie Remsberg, representing the Tigers in the women's 100-meter hurdles, finished on top completing the event in 14.84. The Tigers' last winner of the day was senior Addie Berens. She won the women's javelin, throwing 147-11.0 feet, a provisional qualifying mark.Toby Wahlmeier&nbsp;finished the day off with two new personal bests, one for finishing third in the 100-meter dash and the other for finishing second in the 200-meter dash. Kinley Brown&nbsp;notched a personal best as well in the women's 200 meters, where she finished in third with a time of 24.89. The 1,500-meter men finished 2-3-4 with Ethan Fisher, Jaret Pfizenmaier, and Lucorien Deboest crossing the line in succession.The Tiger pole vaulters had themselves a day, with Baalmann notching yet another school record to continue&nbsp;her historic sophomore season. Baalmann tops the previous record of 12-8.25 feet that Selam Ball vaulted back in the 2018 outdoor season.&nbsp;On the men's side, Brady Deges&nbsp;finished with a vault of 15-10.25, a new personal best. Kurtis McCormick&nbsp;finished third in the men's pole vault for vaulting 15-4.25.Keamonie Archie&nbsp;jumped a wind-aided national qualifying mark in the long jump, while Jayme Hargerman&nbsp;(long jump) and Abby Rueschhoff&nbsp;(triple jump) showed out on the women's side by finishing&nbsp;second in their respective events. Freshman Kyreese Groen&nbsp;posted a second-place finish in the triple jump, and finished top five in the long jump.UP NEXTFollowing a successful FHSU Spring Invite, the Tigers will embark on separate MANHATTAN, Kansas –&nbsp;K-State, the four-seed in the Albany 2 region, led wire-to-wire on Friday afternoon, as the Wildcats downed Portland, 78-65, in the first round of the 2024 NCAA Tournament at Bramlage Coliseum on Friday afternoon. With Friday's win, K-State has now advanced at least one round in the NCAA Tournament for the 13th time.

K-State (26-7) has secured 26 wins this season, the most in the&nbsp;<a href="https://www.kstatesports.com/sports/womens-basketball/roster/coaches/jeff-mittie/2161">Jeff Mittie</a>&nbsp;era and most by the Wildcats since the 2002-03 season (29). This is the sixth 26-win or better season in program history.

For the sixth time this season the trio of&nbsp;<a href="https://www.kstatesports.com/sports/womens-basketball/roster/gabby-gregory/11191">Gabby Gregory</a>&nbsp;(22 points),&nbsp;<a href="https://www.kstatesports.com/sports/womens-basketball/roster/ayoka-lee/11193">Ayoka Lee</a>&nbsp;(21 points) and&nbsp;<a href="https://www.kstatesports.com/sports/womens-basketball/roster/serena-sundell/11197">Serena Sundell</a>&nbsp;(16 points) scored in double figures in the same game. Gregory scored a season-high 22 points on 7-of-13 shooting, including 3-of-7 from beyond the arc and 5-of-6 from the charity stripe. Her 22 points were a career-high for an NCAA Tournament game.

Lee tallied 21 points on 7-of-12 shooting and a game-high nine rebounds. With her 21 points, Lee scored a career-high for an NCAA Tournament game and notched her second career NCAA Tournament game with 20 or more points.

Sundell carded a career-high for an NCAA Tournament game with 16 points on 5-of-10 shooting including 3-of-4 from long range, dished out nine assists and hauled in five rebounds. Sundell's nine assists were the second-most in a K-State NCAA Tournament game and the most since Shalee Lehning set the school record with 13 against Drexel on March 21, 2009.

🏀 K-State women collect NCAA first round win over Portland

KEARNEY, Neb. – The Fort Hays State softball team picked up a pair of much-needed wins in MIAA play on Friday at Nebraska-Kearney. After dropping their first four games of conference play this season, the Tigers got on track with a sweep of the Lopers by scores of 4-1 and 9-2. FHSU improved to 16-12 overall, now 2-4 in the MIAA, and UNK moved to 13-16 overall, 1-5 in the MIAA.

FHSU has now won seven of its last eight games and never trailed on Friday. The Tigers picked up their first wins in Kearney since the 2018 season and now have a four-game win streak against the Lopers going back to last season.

Peyton Shepard, Carly Stucky and Loren Beggs walked in the first inning to&nbsp; set up a 2-RBI single by Lilliana Ramirez-Johnson. In the second, Audrey Gillespie&nbsp;and Shepard drew walks to set up an RBI single by Stuke. Regan Curry&nbsp;hit by a pitch in the sixth, moved up on a wild pitch, then came in to score on a Gillespie RBI single.

Savanah Egger&nbsp;surrendered just two hits to the Lopers through the first five innings, but ran into a bit of trouble in the sixth when she allowed three. An RBI single gave the Lopers their only run of the game. Egger had to dance out of danger when the Lopers loaded the bases with two outs, but she ended the threat by fielding a comebacker and tossing it to first for the third out.

Egger registered another complete-game win for the Tigers, moving to 9-5 on the season. She struck out four and won her fourth straight decision.

Game 2: Fort Hays State 9, Nebraska-Kearney 2 The Tigers used two big innings to hold off the Lopers in game two. FHSU scored three times in the third for a 3-0 lead, saw UNK score single runs in the fifth and sixth to get within one, but then put the game away with six more runs in the seventh.

A Peyton Shepard&nbsp;single and Sarah TIffany&nbsp;walk eventually set up a 2-RBI single by Loren Beggs&nbsp;to put the Tigers on top in the third. A throwing error by the Lopers on a fielder's choice allowed another run to score.

The Lopers manufactured a run in the fifth with an RBI single and then Bailey Carlson&nbsp;entered in relief for the Tigers in the sixth to minimize damage after the Lopers loaded the bases with no outs. UNK pushed one run across, but Carlson used three-straight ground balls to third base to get out of the jam.

The Tigers got the runs back the Lopers scored and more in the seventh when Shepard and Tiffany started a rally with back-to-back triples to make it 4-2. A Loper error allowed another run to score, then Madison Pierce, Regan Cyrry and Advsen Burghart&nbsp;all picked up RBIs, and yet another Loper error plated a sixth run in the inning as the Tigers ran away with the win.

Morgan Schmidt&nbsp;threw the first 5 innings for the Tigers, allowing two runs (one earned). Carlson picked up her first save of the season with her solid relief effort over 2 innings of work, recording two strikeouts.

🥎 Tigers sweep MIAA doubleheader at Nebraska-Kearney

WARRENSBURG, Mo. - The Fort Hays State baseball team dropped game one against No. 2 Central Missouri Friday afternoon, 13-0. The Tigers (18-10, 6-8 MIAA) limited the best scoring offense in the country to two runs over the first four innings before the Mules (24-4, 12-2 MIAA) pushed across 11 runs in the final two innings of the contest.

Fort Hays State managed a pair of singles in the top of the first but were unable to score before the Mules manufactured their first run of the game in the home half of the inning. The Tigers put two men in scoring position with one out in the top of the second, but UCM got out of the inning with back-to-back strikeouts. The Mules then doubled their lead with a solo home run in the bottom of the second.

Tiger starter Ty Riley&nbsp;left one man on base in the third before working out of a two-on, one-out jam in the fourth to keep the score at 2-0. The Tiger bats were unable to take advantage, however, with the Mules sitting down 14 consecutive FHSU hitters.

 </figure>FHSU Athletics<a href="https://fhsuathletics.com/sports/baseball/stats/2024/central-missouri/boxscore/12900">BOX SCORE</a>WARRENSBURG, Mo. - The Fort Hays State baseball team dropped game one against No. 2 Central Missouri Friday afternoon, 13-0. The Tigers (18-10, 6-8 MIAA) limited the best scoring offense in the country to two runs over the first four innings before the Mules (24-4, 12-2 MIAA) pushed across 11 runs in the final two innings of the contest.Fort Hays State managed a pair of singles in the top of the first but were unable to score before the Mules manufactured their first run of the game in the home half of the inning. The Tigers put two men in scoring position with one out in the top of the second, but UCM got out of the inning with back-to-back strikeouts. The Mules then doubled their lead with a solo home run in the bottom of the second.Tiger starter Ty Riley&nbsp;left one man on base in the third before working out of a two-on, one-out jam in the fourth to keep the score at 2-0. The Tiger bats were unable to take advantage, however, with the Mules sitting down 14 consecutive FHSU hitters.Central Missouri took control in the fifth inning with seven runs, six of which were unearned, before scoring four more in the sixth. The Tigers had runners on second base in the sixth and seventh after doubles from Isaiah Ural and Trey DeGarmo, but FHSU was unable to push across a run in either frame.Ural had two hits in the contest, with DeGarmo and Cesar Saavedra&nbsp;contributing the only other two hits for FHSU.&nbsp;Ty Riley&nbsp;(2-2) took the loss after allowing six runs, three of which were unearned, on five hits and four walks. He had three strikeouts in the game.
