KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Iván Herrera had three hits and four RBIs, Andre Pallante allowed two runs in seven innings, and the St. Louis Cardinals beat the Kansas City Royals 10-3 on Friday night.

Willson Contreras doubled twice and drove in a run for the Cardinals, who have won 11 of 12. The Royals have dropped five of six since a seven-game winning streak.

Contreras doubled and scored on a two-out wild pitch by Cole Ragans (2-3) in the second. Brendan Donovan doubled leading off the fourth and scored on a one-out double by Contreras for a two-run lead. Herrera singled in Contreras to make it 3-0.

Vinnie Pasquantino homered in the fourth against Pallante (4-2). Kyle Isbel tripled in the fifth and scored on a balk.

Pallante threw 100 pitches. He gave up seven hits, struck out four and walked none.

Ragans surrendered four runs on five hits in five innings with seven strikeouts. Four Kansas City relievers combined to allow six runs on eight hits.

Herrera doubled and scored on an infield single by Jordan Walker in the eighth.

Ragans departed after a leadoff single by Masyn Winn in the sixth, and Brendan Donovan greeted John Schreiber with a single. Contreras reached on an error by second baseman Jonathan India. Herrera cleared the bases with a double before scoring on a single by Pedro Pagés.

The Cardinals lead the all-time series 80-56, including a 49-26 record at Kauffman Stadium.

Hays Post Sports HAYS – The TMP-Marian Monarchs tallied six extra-base hits and
took advantage of seven walks on their way to a 21-0 victory over Ell-Saline in
the 2-1A Hays TMP regional quarterfinal.

Ell-Saline, who beat Oberlin in the first game of the day to
advance to the matchup with TMP, got their leadoff man on to start the game,
but TMP starter Carson Liles worked around the single and retired the next six
he faced for two scoreless innings on the mound.

The offense wasted no time getting going in the bottom of the
first inning. 

The Monarchs scored 13 runs in the first inning. They sent
19 hitter to the plate in the inning.

TMP’s Ty Schmeidler connected on his first home run of the
season, a two-run shot. Grant Nehls added a triple and a two-run homerun in the
inning.

The Monarchs also walked five times and were hit by a pitch twice
in the inning. They also took advantage of two errors.

It was more of the same in the second inning. TMP scored eight
runs in the inning. They took advantage of two hit by pitches, two walks and
two errors.

Ty Schmeidler allowed just one walk but struck out the side
in the top of the third inning, securing the TMP victory.

The Monarchs will get Ellinwood in the first semifinal of
the day on Wednesday, May 21st, in Hays. The winner will take on the

SALINA – Hays High senior Kale Schwien went 2-2 at the 5A State Tennis Tournament Friday at the Salina Tennis Center.

Schwien opened the day with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Goddard Eisenhower’s Naman Bhatt. He then lost 6-1, 6-0 to Evan Goates of Maize South in the second round.

In the consolation bracket, Schwien defeated Bennett Browning of Spring Hill 8-0 before losing to Hudson Lawrence of Valley Center 8-1.

HAYS – The Hays High baseball team closed out their regular
season with a doubleheader sweep of
Junction City Friday at Leo-Harper Field. The Indians won the opener 10-0 in
five innings then scored a run in the bottom of the sixth to take game two 3-2. The Indians improved to 16-8 on the season while the Bluejays 10-16.

With the two wins, Hays locked up a top-four finish in Class 5A West and will host one of the eight regionals next week. Brackets for those regionals will be released
by KSHSAA Saturday.

Game 1: Hays 10, Junction City 0 (5 innings)
 The Indians jumped ahead early with three runs in the first and three in the second.
They added a single run in the third, two more in the fourth then a run in the
fifth for the run-rule victory.

Carter Graham hit a two-run homer in the first. Landon
Hardman added a solo shot in the third. 

Jonathan Cano, Jalen Smith, Carter Graham, Trace Jacobs and
Ian McGuire all had two hits. Graham and Jacobs both drove in three runs while
Smith knocked in two.

Graham scattered three hits over 4 1/3 innings with five
strikeouts and no walks and picked up the win. Brett Rhoades pitched the final
2/3 innings to close out the game.

Game 2: Hays 3, Junction City 2
 Hays scored what proved to be the winning run when Junction City right
fielder Blake Proiletti committed and error with two outs in the bottom of the
sixth on a fly ball of the bat of Ian McGuire which scored Brett Rhoades. McGuire
was eventually thrown out at home to end the inning.

The Indians grabbed the early 1-0 lead on a two-out first
inning single from Trace Jacobs which scored Jalen Smith who walked earlier in the
inning. 

The Bluejays used a single, back-to-back walks and another single
to score a run and tie the game 1-1 in the third. HHS grabbed the lead back on
Carter Graham’s sacrifice fly which scored Landon Hardman in the bottom of the
inning.

Junction City tied the game on a fielder’s choice in the top
of the sixth.

Jalen Smith allowed a run on two hits with a strikeout over
two innings of relief and picked up the win. Trace Jacobs worked a 1-2-3
seventh for the save.

Starter Jonathan Cano allowed one run on four hits with four
strikeouts and two walks over the first four innings.

HAYS - On Friday, Fort Hays State University named Dr. Lisa Goddard McGuirk as its next Director of Athletics. She comes to FHSU after an impressive tenure as Director of Athletics at Gannon University.

Goddard McGuirk had a very successful 11-year run as the Director of Athletics at Gannon University in Erie, Pennsylvania, another NCAA Division II institution. She was honored as a NACDA Athletic Director of the Year in 2023-24. In 2022, the Erie Times-News honored Goddard McGuirk as Erie Sportswoman of the Year.

"Our primary objective was to find a visionary leader who aligns with our aspirations for the future of Tiger Athletics," said FHSU President Tisa Mason. "In this era of unprecedented challenges and significant transformation in intercollegiate athletics, Dr. McGuirk stands out as an exceptional choice. Her extensive experience, strategic foresight, and proven leadership position her to build on our incredible accomplishments and elevate our program to new heights in the competitive landscape of NCAA Division II athletics."

Gannon's athletic programs soared to new heights under Goddard McGuirk's leadership. The Golden Knights earned two of the last three Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Dixon Trophy championships for all sports (2021-22 and 2022-23). They lead the conference standings for that honor again this year following the winter sports season (final standings following spring sports not yet released). The trophy is presented annually based on finishes in conference events and standings.

The Golden Knights enjoyed their highest finish nationally in the Learfield Directors' Cup in 2023-24, placing 19th. So far in 2024-25, they rank 12th in the standings following the winter sports season. Points generated in the Learfield Directors' Cup standings are based on an institution's finish in NCAA Championships for each sport.

Gannon's rise to prominence in the Dixon Trophy and Learfield Directors' Cup standings over the last four years shows the strong surge in success for all of its athletic programs under Goddard McGuirk's leadership. However, that is not the only measure of success in her tenure leading the Golden Knights. Their student-athletes excelled in the classroom, having at least a 3.2 GPA collectively in all 11 years of her guidance. They also had a big impact in the Erie community through service and philanthropy. Gannon produced over 250 PSAC Scholar-Athletes each of the last seven years and over 300 four times in that run with a high mark of 362 in 2021-22.

Gannon won conference championships in volleyball, men's basketball, women's basketball, and women's golf, and claimed NCAA regional titles in women's soccer, men's basketball, women's basketball, men's wrestling, and men's golf during her tenure. In non-NCAA activities, the Golden Knights' acrobatics &amp; tumbling team placed second nationally at the NCATA Championships while claiming two event national titles, and two Gannon competitive dance teams placed third at NDA Nationals.

Goddard McGuirk is recognized as a national leader in collegiate athletics, serving on the NCAA Women's Wrestling National Committee and the Division II Athletic Directors Association (D2ADA) Board of Directors. She has been instrumental in several renovation projects at Gannon, including enhancements to the Highmark Event Center, McConnell Family Stadium, and Carneval Athletic Pavilion.

"I would like to thank President Mason for the opportunity to serve as Tiger Nation's next Athletic Director," Goddard McGuirk said. "I am excited to begin collaborating and building upon a long-standing tradition of excellence at FHSU. Throughout the search process, it was evident that there is a remarkable level of commitment and pride throughout Hays and Tiger Athletics. Prior to her time at Gannon, Goddard McGuirk served as Director of Athletics, Wellness and Recreation and head softball coach at NCAA Division III affiliate Cedar Crest College (Pa.) for two years (2012-14). She also had a four-year stint as Director of Athletics and head softball coach at NCAA Division III affiliate Saint Elizabeth University (N.J.) for four years (2005-09). She had 11 years of experience overall as a head softball coach at the collegiate level, which also included two years at the University of Massachusetts-Boston (1997-99) and three years at Centenary College (La.) (1999-2002). She also had experience coaching basketball and volleyball at the collegiate level.

Goddard McGuirk earned her bachelor's degree in sociology from Brandeis University and a master's degree in management from Gannon University. Most recently, she completed her doctoral degree in organizational learning and leadership at Gannon University. She and her husband, Keith, have one daughter, Shea.

Dr. Lisa Goddard McGuirk's first day as Athletic Director at Fort Hays State University will be June 23.

My family and I are excited to become members of this special community."Prior to her time at Gannon, Goddard McGuirk served as Director of Athletics, Wellness and Recreation and head softball coach at NCAA Division III affiliate Cedar Crest College (Pa.) for two years (2012-14). She also had a four-year stint as Director of Athletics and head softball coach at NCAA Division III affiliate Saint Elizabeth University (N.J.) for four years (2005-09). She had 11 years of experience overall as a head softball coach at the collegiate level, which also included two years at the University of Massachusetts-Boston (1997-99) and three years at Centenary College (La.) (1999-2002). She also had experience coaching basketball and volleyball at the collegiate level.Goddard McGuirk earned her bachelor's degree in sociology from Brandeis University and a master's degree in management from Gannon University. Most recently, she completed her doctoral degree in organizational learning and leadership at Gannon University. She and her husband, Keith, have one daughter, Shea.Dr. Lisa Goddard McGuirk's first day as Athletic Director at Fort Hays State University will be June 23.

CITY - Hays High boys track and field team continued their Western Athletic
Conference dominance Thursday. The Indians won their fifth-straight league
title, edging Garden City by a point and a half at Memorial Stadium. The Hays girls
won their first title since 2005 after finishing seven points ahead of second
place Garden City.

Kip Keeley was named the WAC Coach of the Year for both the boys and girls.

girls won five events. Katie Linenberger the high jump (5-6), Lynsi Kanas the

girls finished second in six events. Caira Augustine the high jump (5-0), Kenlee
Vehige the pole vault (9-9), Kamryn McCall the long jump (16-2.50) and 200
where she set a new school record (25.65). Lyndi Zimmerman finished second in
the 100 (12.25) and was a part of the 4x100 relay along with Moriah Hellam,
Lynsi Kanak and Kamryn McCall that also finished second (50.05).

Brooke
Bieker placed third in the triple jump (34-10.50) as did McCall in the 100
(12.41) and Zimmerman in the 200 (25.81).

The
boys won four events. Kamani Jones the high jump (6-0), Gus Corsair the discus
(145-3), Dalton Mayers the javelin (183-9) and Bryce Steffan the 300 hurdles
(40.66).

Jones
finished second in the triple jump (43-10.75) as did Wyatt Kirkpatrick in the
javelin (164-11), Jaxson Chartier the shot put (51-2.75) and Steffan in the 110
hurdles (15.58).

Third
place finishers include Jones in the long jump (20-2.50) and 200 (22.43),
Parker McGuire the discus (140.3), Caleb Englert the shot put (49-5.25), Brogan
Albers the 110 hurdles (15.68), Taevian Maupin-Dabney the 400 (51.50). Maupin-Dabney
was also a part of the third place 4x400 relay along with Steffan, Chase Zadina
and Albers (3:32.37).

– The Hays High softball team wrapped up their regular season with a sweep of
Manhattan. The Indians cruised to an 11-0 win in game one then held on for a
6-4 victory in the second game.

The
Indians finished the regular season 16-10. They will find out on Saturday who,
when and where they play in next week’s regional.

Game 1: Hays 11, Manhattan 0 (5 innings)
Avery Solida had two
hits including a three-run homer to lead the Hays Indians to the game one win.

HHS
scored four runs in the bottom of the first and never looked back. They added a
run in the third then six in the fifth to end the game early.

Brynlee
Rupp got the Indians on the board with an RBI triple then scored on a passed
ball in the first. Solida drove in her first run of the day with a single. Lanie
Becker stole home to push the lead to 4-0.

Becker
hit an inside the park home run in the third to put HHS up 5-0.

Rupp
opened the decisive fifth with a single then scored on Riley Dreher’s double. Following
a walk, Solida hit a three-run blast to center to put Hays up 9-0. Alyse Zimmerman
ended the game with a two-run single to center.

Jaylee
Summers scattered three hits with three walks and three strikeouts and picked
up the complete game victory.

Game 2: Hays 6, Manhattan 4
Hays built a 6-0 lead after five then held on for the win.

Alyse
Zimmerman, Brynlee Rupp and Riley Dreher all singled to open the bottom of the
first. Dreher’s base hit scored two to give the Indians the early lead. Dreher
later score on an error to give the Indians a 3-0 lead.

Each
team would get only one baserunner over the next three innings. 

Hays
broke through for three more runs in the fifth. With two outs, Lanie Becker
singled which scored Zimmerman who opened the frame with a double. Following an

🥎 HHS wraps up regular season with sweep of Manhattan

HILL CITY – The Hoxie girls and Smith Center boys won the Mid-Continent League track and field meet hosted by Hill City High School Thursday. The Indians scored 111 points, 10.5 ahead of second place Ellis. Norton finished third (71). The Redmen boys scored 110 points, six better than Norton. Phillipsburg placed third (67.5).

The TMP-Marian girls finished sixth and the boys 11th. Piper Simpson won the girls pole vault, setting a new school record at 10-6. Paige Schlyer finished second in the discus (122-3). Jackson Gillespie led the TMP boys with a second-place finish in the 100 (11.23) and third in the 200 (23.12).

Ellis’ Evelyn Merriman won the 100 (12.31), 200 (25.82) and 400 (1:02.95). Natalie North won the discus (141-5) and shot put (40-8.75). Avery Boydston won the 800 (2:27.37) and finished second in the 1600 (5:20.15). Isabella Eck brought home gold in the high jump (5-4). The Railers 4x100 relay team placed third.

The Railer boys were paced by Aron Bencze won the discus (166-3) and finished second in the shot put (48-3).

Plainville’s Eric Mackey won the high jump (5-10), Davyn Willeford finished second in the long jump (42-4) and Tucker Rudman placed third in the shot put (48-2). Brilynn Trumpp led the Cardinal girls with a second place finish in the 800 (2:29.52) and was third in the 3200 (12:27.38). Alayah Lair finished third in the 100 hurdles (17.09). Caydance Carter placed third in the shot put (38-8).

Brungardt led TMP-Marian with a 92 and tied for 20th along with Jaren Frickey of

⛳ Oakley boys win MCL Tournament

HAYS
– The Hays High girls swim team finished runner-up at the WAC meet held at Fort
Hays State’s Tiger Aquatic Center Thursday.

Senior
Izabel Schmidt broke her seventh school record with a first-place finish in the
100 yard breaststroke (1:11.13). Schmidt was also a part of the winning 200
free relay along with Jaylen Hughes, Brekyn Wahlmeier and Lucy Tippy. Hughes
finished first in the 100 backstroke.

Schmidt
was voted the WAC Swimmer of the Year and Tyler Stein the WAC Coach of the
Year.

HAYS, Kan. - Fort Hays State head volleyball coach Jessica Wood-Atkins has announced the 2025 Tiger volleyball signing class. The group of five incoming Tigers includes one outside hitter, one right-side hitter, one middle hitter, one setter and one defensive specialist. The class includes athletes from three different states, including two newcomers from Kansas and Illinois and one from Colorado. Four will be true freshmen in the fall, while one is a junior transfer.

The 2025 recruiting class includes Peyton Bergschneider, Lauren Clawson, Kaitlyn Cure, Annie Eaton and Kara Feist. This incoming class joins a Tiger squad that advanced to the MIAA Championship Tournament last season.

Peyton Bergschneider OH | 5-10 | Springfield, Ill. Lincoln Land CC | Pleasant Plains HS

Peyton Bergschneider joins the Tigers after two successful seasons at Lincoln Land Community College in her hometown of Springfield, Ill. Bergschneider was a two-time first team NJCAA All-Region 24 selection in addition to a pair of All-MWAC recognitions, including first team honors as a sophomore in 2024. She was also the Mid-West Athletic Conference Freshman of the Year in 2023. The outside hitter averaged 3.41 kills, 3.03 digs, 0.33 blocks and 0.44 service aces per set while swinging at a .213 rate in 68 matches as a Logger, leading the team in kills both seasons while leading the team in digs as a freshman. She totaled 821 kills in 241 sets, adding 731 digs, 80 blocks (23 solo), 105 service aces and 53 assists.

Bergschneider was a 2023 graduate of Pleasant Plains High School in Pleasant Plains, Ill. where she earned three varsity letters in volleyball. She was voted Small School Player of the Year as a senior in 2022 in addition to earning All-State honorable mention status and Sangamon County first team all-conference recognition. Bergschneider was chosen as a Channel 1450 All-Area Player of the Week in addition to earning Illinois State Scholar honors and Scholar Athlete of the Week recognition for her work in the classroom.

Lauren Clawson MH | 6-0 | Monument, Colo. Palmer Ridge HS

Lauren Clawson has signed with the Tigers after graduating from Palmer Ridge High School in her hometown of Monument, Colo. Clawson was an all-conference selection as a senior and helped the Bears win the state championship as a junior in 2023. She helped the team to three consecutive regional titles from 2022-24, reaching the state tournament all three years. The middle hitter earned Athlete of the Week recognition at her school as a senior was awarded the team spirit award as a sophomore and junior.

Clawson earned an academic letter each year throughout her high school tenure, earning first team All-Academic honors as a junior and senior. She was nominated for the Rotary Champions Scholarship for her work in the classroom.

Kaitlyn Cure DS | 5-9 | Andover, Kan. Kapaun Mt. Carmel Catholic HS

Kaitlyn Cure will be a freshman in the fall at Fort Hays State after completing her high school career at Kapaun Mt. Carmel Catholic High School in Wichita, Kan. The Andover, Kan. native was a four-time all-league selection in her time as a Crusader, picking up first team honors as a junior and senior after receiving honorable mention status as a freshman and sophomore. Annie Eaton heads to Hays after a successful career at Quincy Notre Dame High School in her hometown of Quincy, Ill. She was a four-year starter at setter, racking up a school-record 3,082 assists which ranks fifth most in Illinois High School Association history. She was a first team All-State selection and was named Michio Chicago/illprepvb.com Player of the Year in 2024 after racking up a school-record 884 assists as a senior. Eaton helped the Raiders to three Illinois Class 2A quarterfinal appearances, winning 134 matches and posting a winning percentage of 88.7 percent in her four seasons. She added 845 digs, 238 aces and 363 kills in her high-school career.

Eaton also played soccer as a freshman at QND, helping the Raiders to the IHSA Class 2A state championship as a starter at forward.

Kara Feist RS | 5-11 | Great Bend, Kan. Great Bend HS

Kara Feist has signed with Fort Hays State after four years as a multi-sport standout at Great Bend High School in her hometown of Great Bend, Kan. A 5-11 right-side hitter, Feist was a two-time All-WAC selection, picking up first team honors as a junior in 2023 and second team status as a senior in 2024. She helped the Panthers to a school-record 35 wins as a senior, guiding the team to a sub-state championship and a berth into the KSHSAA Class 5A State Tournament. Feist helped Great Bend win back-to-back Western Athletic Conference titles, the first volleyball conference championships for the school in two decades. She compiled 214 kills, 75 blocks and a .282 hitting percentage as a senior.

A four-year letterwinner in volleyball, Feist also earned three varsity letters in track and field and two in basketball. She picked up multiple first team All-WAC honors in track and field competing in sprints and jumps. Feist graduated in the top 10 percent of her class and is a National Honor Society member.

HOUSTON (AP) — Jeremy Peña had a season-high four hits, capped by a tiebreaking RBI single in the eighth inning, to give the Houston Astros a 4-3 win over the Kansas City Royals on Wednesday night.

The Astros trailed by 1 when Zach Dezenzo singled with one out in the eighth and was lifted for pinch-runner Chas McCormick. Mauricio Dubón’s second double of the game dropped into the left field corner and scored McCormick, tying the game and chasing Michael Lorenzen (3-4).

Carlos Estévez took over and Peña lined his third pitch into left field, sending Dubón home and putting the Astros on top.

Josh Hader walked one in a scoreless ninth for his 10th save after Bryan King (1-0) threw a scoreless eighth for the win.

Isaac Paredes homered for a second straight game for the Astros after his shot in the ninth inning Tuesday night lifted them to the 2-1 win.

Maikel Garcia homered and doubled as the Royals built a 3-1 lead.

Dubón’s first double came with one out in the sixth and he scored on a double by Peña to get the Astros within 3-2.

Houston’s Colton Gordon allowed seven hits and three runs in 4 1/3 innings in his major league debut.

Lorenzen yielded seven hits and four runs in 7 1/3 innings for the loss.

Garcia put the Royals up 1-0 with his towering home run to start the second inning. There were two outs and two on in the inning when Jonathan India then smacked an RBI double off the left field wall to make it 2-0.

The Royals had runners at first and second with two outs in the third when Jake Meyers robbed Hunter Renfroe of extra bases with a nifty catch on the track in center.

Paredes homered in the fourth before Garcia’s RBI double that bounced off second base and into the outfield pushed the lead to 3-1.

Dubón’s RBI double in the eighth that tied it and chased Lorenzen.

Peña has been great in 16 games since moving to the leadoff spot and has five doubles, three homers, 15 RBIs and 28 hits.

The National Football League announced the schedule for the 2025 season on Wednesday. The Chiefs are currently slated to play eight standalone games, including seven primetime contests, with GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium hosting four. It also features the Chiefs in contests on both Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day. Kansas City will kick off the 2025 season internationally against the Los Angeles Chargers in São Paulo, Brazil, on Friday, Sept. 5 in the NFL's first-ever live NFL game broadcast on YouTube. The contest marks the club's first international contest since playing in Frankfurt, Germany, in 2023, as well as the first AFC West matchup of the season as the Chiefs continue their quest for a 10th-consecutive AFC West title. This year's regular season schedule features 10 games vs. opponents that made the playoffs in 2024. The combined 2024 record of Kansas City's 2025 home and away opponents is 151-138-0 (.522).

In Week 2, the Chiefs will host the defending Super Bowl Champion Philadelphia Eagles for a Super Bowl LIX rematch in their home opener on Sept. 14. On Sept. 21, the club will hit the road to play the New York Giants on the first of three NBC Sunday Night Football broadcasts before returning home to play the Baltimore Ravens on Sept. 28.

The Chiefs then travel to play the Jacksonville Jaguars on Monday, Oct. 6 in the club's first of two Monday Night Football showdowns. The Chiefs return to Kansas City to host three-straight home games, including two primetime matchups. Weeks 6-8 feature games vs. the Detroit Lions on Sunday night, Oct. 12, the Las Vegas Raiders on Oct. 19, and then the Washington Commanders on Monday, Oct. 27. The club will travel to the Buffalo Bills for an AFC Championship Game rematch on Sunday, Nov. 2 before enjoying the Bye Week during Week 10.

The Chiefs return to action Week 11 as they travel to Denver to play the Broncos on Nov. 16 before returning home to host the Indianapolis Colts on Nov. 23. Just four days later on Thursday, Nov. 27, the Chiefs will play the Cowboys in Dallas on Thanksgiving Day, marking the 11th time the club will play on Thanksgiving Day and first since Kansas City hosted Denver at Arrowhead Stadium on Nov. 23, 2006. That matchup marked the first-ever live game broadcast on NFL Network. The Chiefs have played the Cowboys on Thanksgiving Day once before on Nov. 23, 1995. The club holds a 5-5 record in games played on Thanksgiving.

🏈 Chiefs announce 2025 game schedule

NORMAN, Okla. - Fort Hays State's Cooper Scheck has been named to the 2024-25 NCAA Division II PING All-Region team, as announced by the GCAA on Wednesday.

Scheck was one of just 12 individuals to earn the distinction from the Central Region. The MIAA dominated the list this season, with nine of the 12 honorees hailing from an MIAA institution. He is the first Tiger in recorded history to receive this honor.

The Dodge City, Kan. native put together a strong junior season, averaging 72.15 across 12 events and 33 rounds of competition. Scheck earned six top 10 finishes, including one victory at the Newman Invitational in October.

Scheck competed as an individual at the Central/Midwest Regional Championships in St. Joseph, Mo. last week, becoming the first Tiger to qualify for NCAA postseason competition in a decade. He finished in a tie for 22nd out of 108 golfers at regionals at 4-over for the week (72-75-70). He also earned All-MIAA honors for his performance this season, becoming just the second player in team history to earn multiple All-MIAA recognitions.

Scheck turned in 11 rounds at-or-under par, including the lowest round in recorded team history of 7-under 64 at the Hillcat Classic in March. He posted eight rounds in the 60s on the year, including five rounds of 67 or lower.

ELLIS —  Ellis High School Baseball Senior Night has been moved to Friday, May 16, 2025. The Ellis Railroaders will face off against the Plainville Cardinals in a regional matchup starting at 5:00 p.m. Seniors and their parents will be honored before the game begins.

Baseball seniors are: JJ Lopeman, son of John and Larissa Lopeman; Hunter Guffey, son of Stacy and Danielle Schaus and the late Matt Guffey; Chason Fabrizius, son of Chad and Jessica Fabrizius; Gavyn Wildeman, son of David and Tara Wildeman; Toby Honas, son of Randy and Wendy Honas; Chance Jimenez, son of Javi and Jessica Jimenez.
