WICHITA – The TMP-Marian girls golf team shot a 388 and sits in fifth place after the opening round of the Class 3A-1A State Golf Tournament Monday at Tallgrass Country Club.

The Monarchs are four strokes behind fourth-place Syracuse and five behind third-place St. Mary’s Colgan. Silver Lake leads the team standings with a score of 365. The top six teams advance to Tuesday’s final round.

Brynn Schoepf led TMP-Marian with a 13-over-par 84, placing her third individually. She trails Silver Lake’s Zara Nilsson by four strokes and Prairie View’s Harley Wade by eight. Wade holds the individual lead heading into the final round which begins Tuesday morning.
