INDIANAPOLIS – Fort Hays State Men's Soccer jumped up to fourth in the latest NCAA NPI Super Region rankings released on Monday (Oct. 19). FHSU was initially ninth in the first release of the rankings last week. The NPI rankings are a new system the NCAA is using in place of the previous regional rankings system used for several years in NCAA Division II.
The NCAA Power Index, or NPI, is a ranking system used in Division II and Division III to evaluate team performance. NPI considers game results and the strength of opponents to calculate a team's NPI value and ranking. NPI calculations update throughout the season as teams continue to play game and opponent NPI values change. A team's final NPI is not determined until the final games and rankings of the season are complete.
Four of 10 teams selected to the Super Region 3 field of the NCAA Tournament will be automatic selections, which includes conference tournament champions from the GAC, GLVC, GMAC, and GLIAC conferences. The six remaining at-large bids will be determined from the NPI rankings for each Super Region.
Below is the top 12 of the Super Region 3 NPI rankings for October 19, 2026.
