HESSTON – Hays High’s Kinley Pfannenstiel trimmed two strokes off her opening round score with an 87 Tuesday and tied for 19th place and a medal at the 5A Girls’ State Golf Tournament at the Hesston Golf Course.

Pfannenstiel tied with Emily Taylor of De Soto with a two-day total of 176.

Brooklyn Koerner shot a 100 on day-two and tied for 43rd.

Newton’s Naomi Koontz shot a 68 in the final round to finish 3-under-par and win the individual title by four strokes.

Kapaun Mt. Carmel won the team title with a 635, 37 better than rival Bishop Carroll.
