Anna Selenke, 101, of Oakley, died Thursday, February 15, 2024, at the Logan County Senior Living, in Oakley. The daughter of Boniface and Anna (Brungardt) Prewo, Anna was born on August 29, 1922, in Grainfield, KS. She married Ambrose Selenke on November 17, 1947, and to this union six children were born.

Anna was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and enjoyed attending Mass and praying the rosary. She liked to attend any sporting event or activity where her grandchildren were participants. She loved to garden and raise flowers. Her children and grandchildren have many items that she crocheted. She was truly happy when sitting at her sewing machine. Anna adored each of her cats. Playing cards was always the highlight of her week and she loved to go shopping! You could always count on Anna being late. If her kids wanted her to be at their home for dinner at six, they learned to say they were planning dinner at five.

Anna was preceded in death by her parents, Boniface and Anna Prewo; her husband Ambrose; son Larry; daughter Darlene Rietcheck; brothers, Albert, Acquline and Ben Prewo; sisters, Rose Prewo, Eleanor Prewo and Mary Stroda and four infant brothers, Edward, Joseph, Peter and Robert Prewo.She is survived by her children, Anna Hillman, of Lincoln, NE, Diana (Bob) England, of Norman, OK, David (Gayle) Selenke, of Oakley and Donald Selenke of Oakley; six grandsons; two granddaughters and eleven great grandchildren.

Anna Selenke (Prewo)

Cheryl Arlene Legg Bihlmaier, of Osborne, KS, passed away after a tremendous battle with cancer on February 9, 2024. She was born in Beloit, KS on September 10, 1952, the only child of Percy and Florence McClure Legg. She was 71.

Cheryl graduated from Osborne High School in the Class of 1970, where she was active in many extracurricular activities including pep club, class officer positions, mixed chorus and various musical bands. She attended Kansas State University in Manhattan, KS, returning to Osborne and taking a position as bookkeeper in the laboratory department of Osborne County Memorial Hospital.

She married Steve Bihlmaier in 1976 in Osborne, where Steve was an insurance and real estate agent for the Bihlmaier Agency. Cheryl joined Steve’s business as secretary and bookkeeper and soon became licensed as an insurance and real estate agent as well. Cheryl and Steve eventually helped manage the local State Farm practice owned by Steve’s father, Gene Bihlmaier. When the Bihlmaier family purchased the Farmers National Bank, which later became The Farmers Bank of Osborne, Cheryl managed the Osborne Investment Insurance Agency associated with the bank. She continued to be heavily involved with many aspects of the bank until retirement in 2020.

Cheryl was a member of the United Methodist Church in Osborne, where she played the organ and piano for several years when her two sons were young. She was also a longtime member of the Osborne PEO, serving as president and in various officer roles. From being a Boy Scout den mother to cheering her boys on at every sports event, Cheryl was deeply supportive of their many activities and academic pursuits. Gathering yearly in Colorado and Arizona with her family and dear friends were always cherished opportunities to be together and make lasting memories.

A gracious and caring person, Cheryl was generous with her time and expertise, willingly passing on her skills to numerous family and friends over the years. She enjoyed playing her grand piano and had great pleasure in knitting gifts for loved ones. A lifelong avid reader, Cheryl was never without a paperback in hand and a good book recommendation to pass along. Cheryl appreciated attention to detail and remembered all of her children’s and granddaughters’ accomplishments, always happy to tell and re-tell a good story involving family members’ activities.

In 2012, Cheryl’s eldest son, Nate passed away, unexpectedly at the age of 31. While this unimaginable tragedy resulted in extreme sorrow and forever changed many lives, Cheryl stoically remained the ultimate pillar of enduring strength and everlasting love for her family, especially to her granddaughter Dylan, who never had the chance to meet her incredible father. It is with this same fortitude and resolve that Cheryl courageously fought her illness for several years, never complaining once. Cheryl’s purposeful life and her amazing will to fight were rooted in her abundant love for her three granddaughters, whom she was determined to see grow into young women with a strong sense of self, just like her.

Cheryl’s greatest source of joy was her family.

She was preceded in death by parents Percy and Florence Legg, and son Nate Bihlmaier. She is survived by her beloved husband Steve Bihlmaier; son Matt Bihlmaier, his wife Jenn and granddaughters Claire and Olivia of Lawrence, KS; and daughter-in-law Nancy Bihlmaier and granddaughter Dylan of Houston, TX. Cheryl also leaves behind brother-in-law Doug Bihlmaier and his wife Kathy; niece Jesse Stiles, her husband Davey and great-niece Zoe; and niece Haley Bihlmaier, all of East Hampton, NY.

In lieu of customary remembrances, memorial contributions may be gratefully designated to the Nate Bihlmaier Scholarship Fund or to Osborne County Memorial Hospital.

Edna Lucille (Lamm) Pick, age 103, of Brandon, Mississippi, transitioned to her heavenly Home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, February 3, 2024.&nbsp;

She was proceeded in death by her husband of almost 30 years, Rev. Roy Dean Pick, in 1969; parents, William and Helen Lamm; and 7 younger siblings. Survivors include daughter, Twila Lichlyter (Otis) of Brandon, Mississippi, and son, Ron Pick (Debbie) of Wichita, Kansas; four grandchildren, Cyndi Lichlyter Wilson (Phil), Phillip Lichlyter (Lisa), Paul Lichlyter (Amy), and Robert Pick; 3 step grandchildren, Kim Coos, Brandon Coos, and Crystal Findley; seventeen great-grandchildren; 22 great, great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

Lucille Pick was born on November 2, 1920, on their farm just south of Alton, Kansas. She graduated high school in May 1939 and married Dean Pick at age 19 on April 28, 1940. After the war, he became a pastor, and they pastored Assembly of God churches in Strasberg, CO; Alma, NE; Lyons, NE; Sharon, KS; Pomona, KS; and Edna, KS. While living in Edna, Dean was diagnosed with advanced lymphatic lymphoma. In May 1969, they moved to Hutchinson, Kansas, and he passed away in mid-October. In the years after becoming a widow, she was employed doing clerical work in various offices but eventually started working for the State of Kansas Disability Determination Services, a branch of the Social Security Department. She worked there in a full-time capacity until her retirement in 1987, and part-time another 7 more years. She then moved to Mississippi to be near her daughter and their family in 1994.

Lucille’s faith journey began as an 8-year-old at a Quaker church camp meeting near Alton, Kansas. While in high school, she rededicated her life to the Lord and was a member of Assembly of God churches from then on. For many years and up until her death, she was a member of Brandon Assembly of God.

Over her lifetime, Lucille loved to travel, particularly to family events, regardless of how far away. She was a proud mother and grandma, a caring pastor’s wife, an efficient clerical worker, a women’s ministries leader, and, what particularly characterized her the last 25 years or so, a devout prayer warrior. When she started losing her mobility, she knew her greatest job was sitting in her recliner and praying.

Lucille had several favorite Bible verses but the one she wanted on her gravestone is Psalm 91:2… “I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in Him will I trust.” She will be greatly missed by her family and friends, but she is rejoicing with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!

Judith (Judy) Jane Rentschler, 85, passed away February 15, 2024 at Kearney Regional Medical Center, Kearney, NE.

Judy Emigh was born February 26, 1938 in rural Sheridan County to Lyle Zadoc and Clyda Belle (Shaw) Emigh.

She was raised in Sheridan County and graduated from Selden High School in 1956. After high school she worked at her families cafe in Selden where she met LaVern. On November 17, 1957 she married LaVern William Rentschler in the United Methodist Church in Selden. To this union they were blessed with three children, Ronald LaVern, Vickie Lynn and Julie Lynelle.

They made their residence in Smith Center in 1959. In 1972 she began working at USD #237 in the food service for 22 years when she retired. She enjoyed getting to see all her children &amp; grandchildren at school over the years.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women, Smith Center. She loved volunteering at the Hardly Used Shop.

She loved her family dearly, following her three children, six grandchildren &amp; twelve great grandchildren with any event they were involved in. She was truly a Redmen and Lady Red fan!!

Her &amp; LaVern participated in antique tractor pulls. They would travel to the pulls &amp; she loved to cheer him on. They enjoyed attending KS &amp; NE State Fairs over the years. She was a collector of Precious Moments and they visited The Precious Moment Chapel in Carthage, MO. They also enjoyed vacationing in Branson, MO.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Brother Gary Emigh, Sister Joan Emigh and Sister-in-law Ailene Phelps.

She is survived by her husband LaVern of the home. Son: Ron (Theresa) Rentschler of Smith Center, KS. Ruby Jane Krehbiel Brewer, age 96, died Sunday, February 18, 2024, at Western Prairie Senior Living Community in Ulysses. She was born February 1, 1928, in Kingman County, Kansas, to Henry Peter Krehbiel and Emma Barbara Kaufman. She was the seventh of eight children and the first daughter. Ruby attended Cleveland Grade School and Kingman High, graduating in 1946. She attended Bethel College in North Newton for one year receiving a 30-hour teaching certificate. Ruby was offered and accepted a teaching job with the Moscow School System. She taught grades 1 and 2 for one year. Ruby met Ralph Wesley Brewer during this year. On June 6, 1948, they were married in Kingman, Kansas. Three daughters were born to this union: Sonja, Lora and Beverly.

Ralph and Ruby farmed dryland wheat and milo in Grant County. The third generation caring for the same land. Ruby drove grain trucks, ran for parts, and prepared hot lunches served in the fields. When the farm work was completed, they enjoyed many trips across the states and abroad.

She became head cook and dietician for the Moscow School District. She was a member of the Moscow Methodist Church. There she taught Sunday School classes, was a member of the United Methodist Women, participated in Bible studies, and played the piano. She was a member of the EHU and a Girl Scout leader. She enjoyed growing flowers, oil painting, needlework, wood working, reading classics and letter writing. She eventually self-published a book of her childhood experiences which she shared with family members.

They retired and moved to Ulysses. There she continued to work in her flower beds. When their health declined, they moved to Western Prairie Senior Living Community.

Survivors include her three daughters, Sonja Hathaway of Ulysses, Lora Louquet of Dodge City, and Beverly (Kent) Ainsworth of Ulysses; five grandchildren, Rob (Melissa) Louquet, Ryan Louquet, Liz Ainsworth, Jason Ainsworth, and Megan (Coy) Adams; five great-grandchildren, Cody, Will, Alli, Logan and Avery; and sister, Velma Funk of Hillsboro.Ruby is preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Brewer; six brothers, two sons-in-law, Gary Hathaway and Robert Louquet, Sr., and numerous nieces and nephews.

Family will greet friends on Thursday, February 22, 2024, from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM at Garnand Funeral Home in Ulysses. Graveside service will be Thursday, February 22, 2024, at 2:00 PM at the Ulysses Cemetery with Patty Lahey officiating. She was a member of the EHU and a Girl Scout leader. She enjoyed growing flowers, oil painting, needlework, wood working, reading classics and letter writing. She eventually self-published a book of her childhood experiences which she shared with family members.They retired and moved to Ulysses. There she continued to work in her flower beds. When their health declined, they moved to Western Prairie Senior Living Community.Survivors include her three daughters, Sonja Hathaway of Ulysses, Lora Louquet of Dodge City, and Beverly (Kent) Ainsworth of Ulysses; five grandchildren, Rob (Melissa) Louquet, Ryan Louquet, Liz Ainsworth, Jason Ainsworth, and Megan (Coy) Adams; five great-grandchildren, Cody, Will, Alli, Logan and Avery; and sister, Velma Funk of Hillsboro.Ruby is preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Brewer; six brothers, two sons-in-law, Gary Hathaway and Robert Louquet, Sr., and numerous nieces and nephews.Family will greet friends on Thursday, February 22, 2024, from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM at Garnand Funeral Home in Ulysses. Salome “Sally” Maria Suarez age, 87, died Saturday, February 17, 2024, at her home in Elkhart, KS. She was born September 5, 1936, in Mora, NM the daughter of Celestino and Rosaura (Argon) Garcia.

She married Manual H. Suarez on March 22, 1972, in Perryton, TX.Sally loved her family and enjoyed cooking for them. She was well known in the area for preparing wonderful food, especially enchiladas at the El Rancho in Elkhart. Sally also worked several years as a CNA at Southwest Medical Center in Liberal, KS. Sally enjoyed embroidering, loved to draw and read her Bible.

Great Bend - Karen Faye Bronson, 65, passed away February 14, 2024 at her home in Great Bend.

She was born May 9, 1958 in Woodward, Oklahoma, the daughter of Byron and Annabell McKenna Kraft.

Moving from Oklahoma in 1970, she was a longtime area resident. She was a cook and food service supervisor at Larned State Hospital and Dominican Sisters. She also played bingo and loved bowling.

On August 11, 1990 she married Anthony Bronson at Larned; he survives.

Other survivors include: two sons, John Stiers, Great Bend, Timmy Stiers, Larned; two daughters, Shelia Stiers, Great Bend, Tiffany Wedgeworth, Great Bend; one brother, Terry Kraft, Larned; four sisters, Sherlin Moore, Anna (Daniel) Binns, both of Larned, Mary (Joy) Hammans, Woodward, Oklahoma, Ellen Mauldin, Wakita, Oklahoma; sixteen grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Wilma Evans and Fredrick (Buck) Owens.

Janice Ellen Fisher, 69, passed away February 15, 2024 after a long battle of cancer at her brother’s house in Wichita, Kansas.

&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;She was born January 15th, 1955 in Larned, Kansas to Thaine and Ruby Beamer. She was the baby of the family.

&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;She attended Larned schools graduating in 1973. She attended Hutchinson Juco for nursing, following in her mother and sister’s footsteps. After graduating she worked at St. Joe Hospital in Larned as a CNA in labor and delivery. She changed her mind and went into childcare through Barton County Community College. She opened and ran her own daycare, KIDSWRLD, for 25 years before retiring to be a foster parent for 15 years. She finally retired when her husband’s health started failing.

&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;She married Thomas Wayne Fisher on April 16, 1977. They had four children Derek Thaine Fisher of Mount Hope, Matthew Thomas Fisher (husband to Elizabeth) of Larned, Leigha Janelle Fisher of Wichita, Kansas, Tarah Mervine Hopkins (wife to Alex Hopkins) of Larned.

&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;She was a member of Church of Christ both in Larned and Wichita. She loved helping children either through her daycare or as a foster mom, her heart was always open. She grew up fishing, camping, and helping her mom in the kitchen.

&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Other survivors, besides her children, include: seven granddaughters Jenna Fisher, Sarah Fisher, Grace Fisher, Emma Hopkins, Emily Heron, Hailey Heron, Laila Heron; one grandson Emmet Fisher; one brother Larry Beamer.

&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, one brother, and one sister.

She was born October 9, 1956 in Larned the daughter of Mantford Edwin and Mary Helena Robbins Dellinger. &nbsp;A longtime area resident; she was a Cook at the Don Do restaurant in Larned.

Linda was of the Christian faith and liked listening to music and watching the news.

Survivors include; a son, John (Danielle) Ware, Larned; two daughters, Abby Parks, Hutchinson and Heidi Darst, Mississippi; three brothers, Kenneth (Norma Niemeyer) Dellinger, Larned, Don (Cindy) Dellinger, Protection, and Jack Dellinger, Aurora, Colorado and seven grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by; her significant other, Bay Robinson and two sisters, Janet Dellinger-Koch and Barbara Ann Dellinger.

Cremation has taken place and no services are planned at this time. &nbsp;Inurnment will be in the Larned Cemetery at a later date.

Michael “Mike” Lee Beilman, 68, gained his angel wings February 17, 2024 after a long, vigilant battle with laryngeal cancer. He was born on October 8, 1955, in Hays, KS to Fred (Fritz) and Leona (Hartman) Beilman. He graduated from Hays High School in 1973 and married Linda (Braun) Beilman on September 2, 1977, in Victoria, KS.

Mike and Linda formerly of Hays, moved to Eudora, KS 12 years ago after the birth of their first granddaughter. Mike was a rural mail carrier for 20 years, worked at Advantage Glass Plus and for Price Truck Line in Hays. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. He was an avid fan of the KU Jayhawks and KC Chiefs and traveled to many games throughout his life. For many years, he belonged to a bowling team in Ellis, KS, affectionally known as the “Swill Hogs.” The name itself says enough, but the stories, nicknames, and endless nights of fun were always something Mike talked about. Mike also played on a co-ed softball team in Hays for many years called “Icee Hot.” His favorite hobby was fishing with close friends and sharing the story about the “big one that always got away!” A man with a lot of spirit and energy, he loved going on “ag tour” adventures in the country with his friends and son-in-law on the weekends. He always said that only those on an “ag tour” will fully understand the meaning behind them. Mike had a great love for animals and was most proud of his two daughters and four granddaughters. Mike had a life changing accident in 2006 that left him with a traumatic brain injury. Years later, this injury greatly changed his active lifestyle and impacted the quality of his once very vibrant mental health.

Left to mourn him are his loving wife, Linda of Eudora; his two daughters, Leah (Andrew) Hansen of Lenexa and Bethany (Kyle) Stadalman of Eudora; his four granddaughters, Kennedy, Hadley, Lucy and Mabel Stadalman of Eudora; his siblings, David (Mary) Beilman of Johnstown, CO, Jo Ellen Haselhorst of Thornton, CO and Janet (Steve) Hammerschmidt of Fleming Island, FL; mother-in-law, Stella Braun of Hays; sisters-in-law, Brenda Meder of Hays and Doreen (Tim) Koerner of Victoria; brother-in-law, Douglas (Machell) Braun of Victoria and his faithful dog companion, Lacee, along with many extended nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his father-in-law Albert R. Braun, brother Kenneth Beilman, brother-in-law, Dale Haselhorst, and nephew, Michael David Beilman.

Cremation has taken place. Following private family services, a Celebration of Life reception for friends and family will be held Sunday, March 10 from 2-4pm at the Hays Arts Center, 112 E. 11th, Hays, KS. Robert Lee “Bob” Dyke, 79, Bella Vista, Arkansas, died Friday, February 16, 2024 at Mercy Hospital in Rogers, Arkansas.

He was born March 30, 1944 in Parsons, Kansas, the son of George F. “Frank” and Elsie L. (Modesitt) Dyke. Bob attended a country school through the eighth grade then attended and graduated from Thayer High School. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1962-1968 and was a member of the American Legion. On April 6, 1980, he was united in marriage to Marlene Sue Koerner in Thayer, and they celebrated over 43 years of marriage. Bob worked for Chanute Manufacturing Company for 20 years, Kawneer Company for 25 years, and Wilcox Truck Sales for 15 years. He had a love for horses, and saved enough money when he was young to buy his first horse named Lightning and later in life loved his Appaloosa named Ranger. He enjoyed bass fishing, was a jack of all trades, and used his carpentry, plumbing, and electrical skills to build two homes and help his family in any way. Bob was hardworking, dependable, and cared about the well-being of everyone he knew.

Survivors include his wife Marlene of Bella Vista, AR, five sons, John L. Dyke (Kara A.) of LaSalle, IL, Robert L. Dyke, Jr. (Bradford Chapman) of Fort Worth, TX, Shane Newell (Heather) of Bentonville, AR, Travis Newell (Tami) of Bentonville, AR, and Shawn Newell of Bella Vista, AR, two daughters, Ronda Dyke of Wichita, KS and Tammy (Dyke) Tanquary of Thayer, KS, two brothers, Jack Dyke (Kathy) of Thayer, KS and Charles Dyke (Linda) of Centerton, AR, 15 grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren.

Robert “Bob” A. Malin, of Plainville, Kansas, passed away on February 13, 2024 at HaysMed Center, at the age of 84. He was born on August 16, 1939, to Francis and Maxine (Colvin) Malin in Russell, Kansas. He was married to Carol J. (Prockish) on July 1, 1961.

Bob grew up in Plainville. He was the owner/operator of Malin Backhoe Service where he employed his sons and many people from the community.

He was a member of the US Army where he served as a paratrooper in the 101st airborne division. Following his time in the service he met Carol at the Varsity Bowl in Hays, KS. Bob had many hobbies which included gardening and golfing. If he wasn’t following his grandkids around at their activities, then you could usually find him in his garage welding or wood working.

Bob is survived by his wife, Carol of Plainville; sons, Tom (Jeanine) Malin, Zurich, Tim (Eva) Malin, Osawatomie, KS Aaron Malin, Plainville; siblings, Virginia Lumpkins, Plainville, Peggy (Jim) Jore, Salina, KS, Betty (Craig) Davidson, Plainville, Phil Malin, Salina, KS; five grandchildren, Morgan (Charlie) Ochs, Meriden, KS, Dustin Malin, Plainville, Brandon (Jenny) Malin, Plainville, Dallas Malin, Ellis, KS, Andy Malin, Denver, CO; nine great-grandchildren.

The daughter of Boniface and Anna (Brungardt) Prewo, Anna was born on August 29, 1922, in Grainfield, KS. She married Ambrose Selenke on November 17, 1947, and to this union six children were born.Anna was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and enjoyed attending Mass and praying the rosary. She liked to attend any sporting event or activity where her grandchildren were participants. She loved to garden and raise flowers. Her children and grandchildren have many items that she crocheted. She was truly happy when sitting at her sewing machine. Anna adored each of her cats. Playing cards was always the highlight of her week and she loved to go shopping! You could always count on Anna being late. Leona Josephine (Koerperich) Rogers, age 89, passed away on February 16 at Meadowlark Hills Bramlege House.

She was born in Hays, Kansas in 1934 to Bernard and Helen (Jaster) Koerperich, the second of 8 children. She was raised on a farm outside of Selden, Kansas, and attended Selden schools, graduating from Selden High School as Valedictorian of her class.

Leona met the love of her life, Gerald, at a local dance, and they were married on September 30, 1952. Their marriage was blessed with five children: Sherry Watts of Manhattan, KS (Harry), Geralyn Parker, Goodland, KS (Lauren), Joe Rogers, Davison, MI (Stephanie), Scott Rogers, Larned, KS (Julie) and Tami Carlgren, Newton, KS (Randy).

Leona’s favorite role was being Grandma to her 12 grandchildren, Tony Parker (Amy), Fr. Nick Parker, Jillian Korte (Drew), Stuart Watts (Sam), Diana Watts, Conrad Rogers (Michelle), Jennifer Rogers, Hunter Rogers (Shazia), Melanie Morrison (Camerron), Meredith Peterson (Johnathan), Joshua Carlgren (Kenzie), and Hannah Scheetz (Mason). She loved shopping for presents for them, cooking their favorite foods, and simply spending time together. She was delighted when they blessed her with nine great-grandchildren, and more on the way.

Leona was a very smart woman and took great pride in the work she did outside the home, particularly working at Koerperich Bookbinders in Selden and as the Shipping Supervisor for over 20 years at Scott Specialties in Belleville, KS.

Leona was a faithful member of the Catholic Church. She began playing the organ for services as a teenager and held many roles in the church throughout her life. She was an active and devoted member of the Legion of Mary and led the rosary at a local retirement community. Leona served as a Hospice Volunteer for a number of years, always sharing her faith and caring for others. This was an example and blessing she passed on to her family.

Leona will always be remembered for her incredible baking and cooking skills and unfailing devotion to her family and her faith. We could not have asked for a better mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, and her memory will live on in all the hearts of those who loved her.

Leona was preceeded in death by her beloved husband of 66 years (Gerald), her parents (Bernard and Helen), and her brother, Richard. She is survived by her six siblings, 5 children and spouses, 12 grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren.

Teresa Marie “Tessie” (Munoz) Kypers, 94, died Tuesday February 13, 2024 at her home in Garden City, Kansas. She was born September 23, 1929 in Deerfield, Kansas; the daughter of Henry Munoz, Sr. and Sarah Calderon. Tessie’s father Henry passed when she was quite young and her mother remarried Manuel Beltran, Sr. who became an integral part of Tessie’s life.

Tessie grew up in the Garden City area where she attended the local schools and lived her young life. In 1971 she moved to California where she made deep connections with family and friends that she truly cherished.

She is remembered for her sweet loving nature and positive attitude. Tessie loved dancing and listening to music, going out to eat and shopping, especially for shoes! She prided herself in keeping things clean; her house was always neat and tidy. She enjoyed gardening and going for walks in the outdoors.

Survivors include her son-Raymond Munoz of Garden City, Siblings- Manuel Beltran, Jr. of Garden City, Gerry Beltran-Gomez of Great Bend, Caverly Rojas-Wallace and husband Keith of Garden City, along with a host of nieces, nephews, and other extended family.

Geraldine “Geri” Royce Preston, age 81, passed away on Friday, February 16, 2024, at the Greeley County Hospital in Tribune, Kansas. She was born to John and Geneva Crum Oliver on March 25, 1942, in Flagler, Colorado. Geri was a resident of the Tribune community since moving from Colorado Springs, Colorado in 1966. She was a member of the Community of Christ Church, a member of the Rebekahs - Independent Order of the Oddfellows, a 4-H project leader, a Brownie leader, and an FCE Unit member. Geri retired from the Greeley County School Food Service Department and the Dietary Department of the Greeley County Hospital.

On December 16, 1959, Geraldine married Gene Wesley Preston in Denver Colorado. He passed away on March 4, 2022.

Geri is survived by four daughters - Dee Anna &amp; Brad Schneider of Tribune, Kansas, Synthia Preston of Garden City, Kansas, Sabra &amp; David Dickey of Sidney, Nebraska, Pamela &amp; Brian Schneider of Tribune, Kansas, one son - Gene Preston II of Syracuse, Kansas, her siblings - Bill Oliver of Spokane, Washington, Sheila Deucker of Christmas Valley, Oregon, 12 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

Daryll James Urban, 75, La Crosse, Kansas, passed away Sunday, February 11, 2024, at his home.

Daryll was born November 4, 1948, in Hays, Kansas, the son of Alfred Thomas and Esther Marie (Urban) Urban. He was a lifelong resident of Rush County, Kansas. A 1966 graduate of Victoria High School, Victoria, Kansas, he was multitalented and mostly self-employed in a number of endeavors before his retirement. He was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church, La Crosse, Kansas, a Knight of Columbus, and a Vietnam War veteran serving in the United States Navy. Having grown up on a farm, he enjoyed fishing, radio-control airplanes, target-shooting, and being outside in general.

Survivors include 4 brothers: Reginald A. Urban, Hays, Kansas, Alan L. Urban (Sue), La Crosse, Kansas, Maynard Urban, Hutchinson, Kansas, and Kevin J. Urban (Barbara), Salina, Kansas; 1 sister, Pam A. William Anthony Eilert, 35, passed away Saturday, February 17, 2024 in Wichita, Kansas. William was born October 30, 1988, to Kathleen (Ackerman) Eilert and Mark Eilert at US Naval Air Station Pensacola, Florida. He was their fourth child of five.

Born to a military family, William moved frequently as a child, first to Tennessee, and then again to Kansas where he began school, attending St. John’s Catholic Schools in Beloit. He attended Kansas State University in Manhattan, where he studied Engineering, and Manhattan Area Technical College, where he studied Computer Science. William worked as a bartender at Finn’s Neighborhood Pub for several years before finally returning to Beloit to work on the family farm, which he found much to his liking.

William was known for his gentle personality, agreeable demeanor, and brilliant sense of humor. He made fast friends in every walk of life and was quick to volunteer his help to a friend or family member’s personal problem or dizzying home construction project.&nbsp; William proved loyal to a fault, and many friends and family found themselves in his debt as the technical genius quickly absorbed a problem and set to work on their solution. William loved gaming with his friends and siblings, hunting, fishing, and playing with his beloved dog Trout.

Surviving are his parents: Kathleen (Ackerman) Eilert of Park, and Mark Eilert of Beloit, his grandparents: Robert and Alice Ackerman of Park, and Donald and Dolores Eilert of Beloit. He is also survived by his siblings and their families: Kenneth, Jillian, Josselyn, and Thomas Eilert of Indianapolis, Indiana, Matthew, Emma, Charly, Ellie, and Ralph Eilert of Park, Kelly, Manny, Emery, and Isabella Sandlin of Manhattan, and Benjamin, Sadie, Adalynn, Wyatt, and Rylee Eilert of Beloit. His many nieces and nephews held William as a doting and favored uncle.

Rosary and Funeral Services will be held at St. John The Baptist Catholic Church. The rosary will be held Tuesday, February 20, 2024, at 7 p.m., and Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, February 21, 2024, at 10 a.m. Visitation will be held prior to the rosary on February 20, 2024 at Schoen Funeral Home And Monuments, from 1﹘5 p.m. with family present from 4 - 5 p.m.

Vivian Leroy Bryant, 50, died February 12, 2024, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center, Hutchinson, Kansas. &nbsp;He was born September 18, 1973, in Hoisington, Kansas, the son of Carl Lee and Rose Marie (Bird) Bryant.

In 1994 Vivian graduated from Great Bend High School. He later worked with Sunflower Diversified Services in the Recycling Center, a job he greatly enjoyed. &nbsp;Always wanting to help in any way he could, he took his chores seriously when living at home with his parents. The dishwasher was always unloaded and the laundry promptly hung to dry. &nbsp;Although he may play hooky if he could take a fishing trip with his dad. He also loved his old mutt dog that was lovingly named Paleface.&nbsp;

Vivian is survived by his two sisters, Louann Clark and husband Lawrence of Susank, and Janice Lauber and husband Daniel of Great Bend; 11 nieces and nephews, and numerous great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Roy Bryant, and two great nieces, Olivia Hamby and Abigail Richardson.

Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home with family to greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m.

Funeral service will be 10 a.m., Saturday, February 17, 2024, at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Don Fisher presiding. Burial will follow in Hoisington City Cemetery.&nbsp;

Sister Lillian Gehlen, 84, died February 13, 2024 at the Dominican Sisters of Peace motherhouse in Great Bend. &nbsp;She was born August 19, 1939, in St. Leo, Kansas, the daughter of Charles and Helen Youngers Gehlen. &nbsp;She entered the Dominican Sisters community in 1956 and pronounced vows in 1959. &nbsp;This year marks her sixty-fifth year of religious profession.

Sister Lillian began her ministry as a nurse, serving in Great Bend, Kansas, and Lamar, Colorado. A call to missionary service took her to Nigeria in 1965 where she served for the next 29 years. She returned to the states in 1994 and continued her nursing service. She also served as chaplain at Villa Maria Home in Mulvane.&nbsp;

Sister Lillian was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Alphons and Edward and her sister Alma Weber. &nbsp;She is survived by brothers Arnold and Ray, sisters Dolores Hudson, Catherine Wooten, Virginia Horn, and Elizabeth Mosiman, several nieces and nephews, as well as the Dominican Sisters of Peace. &nbsp;

A Wake Service will be held at 6:30 PM on Monday, February 19. &nbsp;The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, February 20. &nbsp;Both will take place at the Sisters’ Convent. &nbsp;Burial will be in the Sisters’ Resurrection Cemetery.

Edward Alfred Gagnon, 89, of Atwood, died February 13, 2024. He was born September 12, 1934, in Grainfield, KS to Emery and Jeannette (Boucher) Gagnon. Ed attended Grainfield schools and enjoyed participating in athletics. In 1955 he joined the United Sates Navy where he served as an Engineman 2nd Class for four years, then was in the Navy Reserve until 1961. On November 1, 1958, Ed married Janice Huber, from Collyer, KS, and to this union two sons were born. Ed worked for Sears in Kansas City for 25 years. Ed eventually moved back to western Kansas, settling in Atwood.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son Jerry; brother, Martin Gagnon; sisters, Florence Bayack and Pauline McBride and sister-in-law Patricia Gagnon.

Ed is survived by his son Larry Gagnon; grandchildren, Naomi, Sarah, Nathanael, Jeremiah and Jonathan; seven great-grandchildren, sister Jeanine Beamgard; brothers, Don Gagnon and James Gagnon and numerous nieces and nephews.A graveside service will take place at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, February 17, 2024, at the Grainfield Cemetery. Robert (Bob) Waldman of Grinnell, Kansas passed away February 13, 2024, at the Logan County Senior Living Center in Oakley, Kansas at the age of 88. He was born to Lawrence and Barbara (Zerr) Waldman June 7, 1935, on the family farm where he lived all of his life. Bob served two years in the Army stationed in Germany. He was a very proud member of the American Legion Post #301. He loved volunteering his time to the Grinnell school's activities, Golden Plains 4-H, Tri-County Credit Union, S &amp; T Telephone board, ASCS board, Gove County Endowment Board, and to his church where he spent many days doing upkeep with his friends. He loved the community he lived in and eagerly volunteered his time to various activities such as the Grinnell After Harvest Festival and many more.

Bob married his wife Loretta (Zimmerman) on November 29, 1958. They were married for 65 blessed years. To this union five children were born: Stan (Stanislaus), Annette (Nose), Lisa (Charlie), Mike (Miserable) and Amy (Mouse).

Bob loved planes at a very young age, and it grew into a passion to build model planes which he flew with his friends. Bob became a pilot and loved flying. The view from above was a sight for him to behold. Bob and Loretta worked side by side on the "Waldman Ponderosa", which was the family farm. They sowed and harvested many crops and raised herds of cattle. Another passion of his was the "BBL's", a group of brothers-in-law he loved dearly. They were an ornery group and had the best times when they were together.

He loved his family deeply. He is survived by his wife, Loretta; his sons, Stan Waldman, Scott City, Kansas and Mike (Susan) Waldman, Iola, Kansas; his daughters, Annette (Bill) Parke, Oakley, Kansas; Lisa (Mike) Racette, Oakley, Kansas; and Amy (Shane) Brooks, Quinter, Kansas; his twelve grandchildren, Krista Waldman, Chase (Rystal) Waldman, Jonathan (Corine) Porter, Jason Racette, Chris Racette, Aaron (Taylor) Racette, Andrew Waldman, Jeremy Waldman, Tanya (Latham) Schwarz, Tamika Brooks, Lisa Woods and Lori Rohling; his "Greats", Blake, Layla and Decker Waldman, Otto, Leno and Baby Porter, Braelyn and Kinsley Racette, Frankie Racette, Brayden and Peyton Woods, and Lainey and Luke Rohling. Bob became a father figure to his sister's children, Roberta Harper, Ed Lubbers, Patricia Percival, Joyce Baalman, Don Lubbers, and Susan Pixler. He loved all of his sisters and brothers-in-law and his many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother; father and mother-in-law, Theodore and Rosalie Zimmerman; sister Pauline Lubbers, brother-in-law George “Skip" Lubbers, and many beloved sisters and brothers-in-law.Bob had many wonderful friends here on earth whom he loved to visit and spend time with, and he was ready to join the ones who went before him.
