Garden City- Lois M. Towns, 99, died on Wednesday, July 8, 2020 at St Catherine Hospital in Garden City.

She was born on July 31, 1920 at Ness City, the daughter of Ronald and Phoebe (Lamourex) Snyder. She married Harry B. Towns on Sept. 3, 1939 at Scott City. He died on Feb. 5, 2004. Lois grew up in Ness County and graduated from Ness City High School. She then graduated from the Venus Cosmetology School in Wichita.

She returned to Ness City to work in a beauty shop and, after her marriage they lived in Dighton and Shields where she was a cosmetologist for over 50 years.

She and her husband lived in Aurora, Colo., for a time and spent winters in Phoenix. She moved to Garden City in 2006.

Lois was a member and past Deacon of the First Christian Church in Dighton and attended the Community Congregational Church in Garden City. She also belonged to the As You Like It Club, Lane County Saddle Club, and EHU in Dighton.

She was a 4-H Leader in sewing and cooking and enjoyed playing bridge, going to horse races and, especially attending and watching PBR Bull Riding events. She is survived by three daughters- Beverly (Don) Schmalzried of Harlingen, Texas, Billie (Deverne) Cartmill of Garden City and Becky Braswell of Sapulpa, Okla., son-in-law- Larry Foos of Sapulpa, Okla., sister- Grace Hessman of Hutchinson, 10 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter- Barbara Foos, son-in-law- Tom Braswell, brother- Robert Snyder, two sisters- Naida Moeder and Ona Merle Stecklein and in her later years companion- Nick Ortiz Sr. The family will conduct a graveside service at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 11, 2020 in Dighton Memorial Cemetery. Vadis Colleen Madden, daughter of Roscoe and Elta (Stevens) Wildman, was born January 27, 1932, in Arapahoe, Nebraska, and passed away at the Good Samaritan Health Center in Kearney, Nebraska, on July 8, 2020, at the age of 88.

On March 16, 1951, she married Bobbie Dean Madden in Lexington, Nebraska.  They made their home in Norton where they raised their family.

Vadis worked as a telephone operator for many years.  She also worked at the Norton State Hospital.  When it sold and became Norton Correctional Facility, Vadis worked as a corrections officer, retiring with the rank of Sergeant.

Her loving husband, Bob, passed away Oct. 12, 2012.

Vadis was a member of the Norton Christian Church, American Legion Auxiliary, Eagles Auxiliary, the Red Hat Society and a quilting club.  She greatly enjoyed playing bingo and gambling trips with her friends and sewing but her greatest love was her family, especially her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and her great-granddog.

Survivors include:  three children, Barry (Dana) Madden, Norton; Rob (Melanie) Madden, Emporia, Kansas; Bobbi (Dean) Wiseman, Norton; one step-son, Jim Madden, Moab, Utah; six grandchildren, Casey and Clay Madden, Norton; Kyle (Sarah) Madden, El Dorado, Kansas; Katie (Thad) Davidson, Emporia; Lucas (Jill) Wiseman, Beloit, Kansas; Thea (Ryan) McMillan, Concordia, Kansas; 10 great-grandchildren, Rylee and Peyton Madden, Ella, Carter and Lucy Davidson, Brooklyn Wiseman, Alex, Ian, Lillian and Olivia McMillan; other relatives and friends.

Elmer J. “Schmidty” Schmidt, 89, Hays, died Wednesday, March 18, 2020 at his home.

He was born October 18, 1930 in 
Catharine, the son of Adolph J. and Anna (Staab) Schmidt.&nbsp; On November 
7, 1955 he was united in marriage to Rosalinda “Rosie” Meier in 
Catharine, and they celebrated 64 years of marriage.&nbsp; He proudly served 
in the United States Army, was parts manager for 57 years at 
International Harvester/Radke Implement, and was a farmer.&nbsp; His 
memberships included Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Third 
Degree Knights of Columbus Council #6984, Fourth Degree Knights of 
Columbus Bishop Cunningham Assembly, the American Legion, and served on 
the church funeral dinner committee.&nbsp; He enjoyed all sports, was a 
Kansas City Chiefs and Royals fan, and loved watching WWE wrestling.&nbsp; He
 enjoyed woodworking, and loved his family, especially his grandchildren
 and great grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife; Rosie of 
the home in Hays, a son Brian Schmidt and wife Cherie of Hays, three 
daughters; Patty Kuhn and husband Duane of Hays, Debbie Pittman and

Elmer J. 'Schmidty' Schmidt

Trevor Kiley Bohl, 47, passed away on July 7, 2020 at Hays Medical Hospital. He&nbsp;was born to James C. and Lynda E. (Robinson) Bohl on February 16, 1973 in Norton, KS.

Trevor enjoyed playing games with his family. Whether it was darts, pool, board&nbsp;games or winning at the card game golf,(and he did seem to always win) he was always&nbsp;ready to go with a smile on his face. He loved to show up his brother on the pool table&nbsp;or on the golf course. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his dad and brother, Corey.

He especially loved picking on his sister in law, Cassie.

When health began to slow him down, he spent most of his time mowing for his&nbsp;parents and his beloved Granny. He spent many hours with her puttering around the&nbsp;house. They had such a special bond. Trevor liked to “tinker” at home as well, as we&nbsp;found out while cleaning out his garage! If you needed a gadget of any kind, Trevor&nbsp;probably had it. His love of movies and country music was apparent with his huge&nbsp;collections of VHS, DVDs, CDs, and cassettes.

Trevor was a quiet man with a quick smile. His hearing impairment made conversation difficult, but he tried his best to get a good jab in when he could. And boy did he! He rarely said “no” when asked for help. He was one of the good guys.

After suffering a stroke, Trevor lived at Logan Manor. While there he made many friends with the staff and would cruise the halls most of the day. Everyone that visited&nbsp;knew him since he frequently parked himself near the nurse’s station. Other times he would be found in various offices visiting with whoever happened to be there. The halls there will be pretty quiet without him.

Trevor is survived by his parents, James C. and Lynda E. Bohl. One brother,&nbsp;Corey, and wife, Cassie, nieces Aubreyana Bohl and Quinley Bohl, nephews Riley Bohl&nbsp;and Ethan Bohl, great niece Addelynn Latham and paternal grandfather Ralph Bohl.

He is preceded in death by his infant sister Dana, brother Shannon, maternal grandparents Ivan and Leslie Eilene (Granny) Robinson and paternal grandmother&nbsp;Eileen Bohl.

Cremation was planned.&nbsp; A memorial service will be 2:00 p.m. 
Saturday, July 11th, 2020 in the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel, 
Phillipsburg, with Pastor Troy Buss officiating.&nbsp; The services will be 
streamed live on the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel's FaceBook Page.&nbsp; 
Inurnment will follow in the Fairview Cemetery, Phillipsburg.

George F. Graves

Louise Darlene (Nemechek) Tomanek, age 85, of WaKeeney, KS, passed away on Tuesday, July 7, 2020, peacefully at her home. Darlene was born in WaKeeney August 2,1934, to Louis and Johanna (Gaschler) Nemechek. She graduated from Trego Community High School in 1952.&nbsp;

Darlene was united in marriage to Laverne Tomanek on October 20, 1952. They were happily married for 58 years until his passing on July 12, 2011. She was a lifetime member of Christ the King Catholic Church. Darlene was also a member of the Altar Society. Darlene was a gifted seamstress. She was well known for her talent and kindness. She made countless alterations to a variety of clothes. She also designed and made wedding dresses, prom dresses and just about anything that had to do with sewing. She was known for her talent in the kitchen; her baked goods were known among family and friends.&nbsp; Sitting down to a good book was a favorite pastime.&nbsp; She cherished time with friends and family.

Survivors include 5 children: Pam (Dennis) Ehlts of Salina, KS, Peggy(Danny) Smith of Great Bend, KS, Judy Jordan of Great Bend, Rita (Jim) Mernagh of Wichita, KS, and Eddie (Christy) Tomanek of Topeka, KS; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; sisters Charlotte Albers, Betty Lipp, and Mary Jo (Gary) McClanahan; brothers Doug Nemechek and Richard (Carol) Nemechek; and sister-in-law Maxine (Duane) Lindsay.&nbsp;

Darlene was preceded in death by both parents; her husband; son Danny Tomanek; infant son Rodney Tomanek; grandson J.J. Axman; brothers George and Bill Nemechek; and son-in-law Mike Axman.

Darlene was born in WaKeeney August 2,1934, to Louis and Johanna (Gaschler) Nemechek. She graduated from Trego Community High School in 1952.&nbsp;Darlene was united in marriage to Laverne Tomanek on October 20, 1952. They were happily married for 58 years until his passing on July 12, 2011. She was a lifetime member of Christ the King Catholic Church. Darlene was also a member of the Altar Society. Darlene was a gifted seamstress. She was well known for her talent and kindness. She made countless alterations to a variety of clothes. She also designed and made wedding dresses, prom dresses and just about anything that had to do with sewing. She was known for her talent in the kitchen; her baked goods were known among family and friends.&nbsp; Sitting down to a good book was a favorite pastime.&nbsp; She cherished time with friends and family.Survivors include 5 children: Pam (Dennis) Ehlts of Salina, KS, Peggy(Danny) Smith of Great Bend, KS, Judy Jordan of Great Bend, Rita (Jim) Mernagh of Wichita, KS, and Eddie (Christy) Tomanek of Topeka, KS; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; sisters Charlotte Albers, Betty Lipp, and Mary Jo (Gary) McClanahan; brothers Doug Nemechek and Richard (Carol) Nemechek; and sister-in-law Maxine (Duane) Lindsay.&nbsp;Darlene was preceded in death by both parents; her husband; son Danny Tomanek; infant son Rodney Tomanek; grandson J.J. Erma June Ferguson, 73, passed away on July 7, 2020 at the Ness 
County Hospital in Ness City, Kansas. She was born on June 24, 1947 in 
Ness City, Kansas the daughter of Michael and Clara (Meis) Gabel.

Erma graduated from Ness City High School. She worked at the Ness 
County Hospital for 22 years as a Certified Nurse’s Aide and was a 
homemaker. She enjoyed cooking, cross stitching, and collecting Santa 
Claus’ and cookbooks. She was a member of Sacred Heart Church. She 
married Ronald Ferguson on September 7, 1968, in Ness City. He died on 
January 15, 2019.

Survivors include her son, Jason (Devonie) Ferguson of Frederick, CO;
 a brother, Russell (Dea) Gabel of Ness City; a sister, Mae Marsha 
Johnson of Troy, KS; and 1 granddaughter, Kaitlyn Ferguson. She was 
preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ronald Ferguson; a son, Heath
 Ferguson; and a brother, Mike Gabel.

Chris Allan Cole, 58, of Olathe, passed away unexpectedly on July 1, 2020. He was born on October 21, 1961 to Allan and Connie Cole in Colby, Kansas. Chris was many things, but most people remember him by his desire to help others, his hard-working mentality, and his playful, compassionate heart. 
 
Growing up in Goodland, KS, Chris could be seen working with his father at the farm, driving the school bus, or fixing up old cars (or really anything else he could get his hands on). By night, he was an ornery, girl-chasing rebel dragging Main Street. It was in Goodland where he met the first love of his life – a blue 1967 Camaro SS. Thus began a passion for cars that would last until the day he passed away. Chris spent much of his time planning, refurbishing, and re-refurbishing his Camaro; he could never quite get it how he wanted: perfect. He passed on his passion to his son, Haedyn, who helped him rebuild their 1979 Trans Am in 2019. 
 
Having worked at a motorcycle repair shop shortly after graduating high school, Chris also developed a passion for motorcycles. He enjoyed long rides on his Harley with his wife, Kathy Cole, and had often gone on cross-country road trips with his best friend, Mike Horniman, who preceded him in death. 
 
Chris attended Kansas State University and graduated in 1988 with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. Prior to graduating, Chris married Taunya Schamber Cole in 1984, and had two children, Alexa Cole (daughter) and Haedyn Cole (son). He tried his best to instill his love for KSU Football on his children by attending countless football games with them in Manhattan; however, much to his dismay, they ultimately both attended the University of Kansas. Over the following 32 years, Chris started and ran multiple successful businesses, and had recently partnered with his good friend, Ty Herron, in purchasing a FedEx delivery company. 
 
Chris’s desire to help others was always evident, from providing caring support for his mother and three sisters after the death of his father in 2000; to helping someone he had just met get back on their feet. Chris was always there when others needed him, and he never expected anything in return. He was a handyman, mechanic, plumber, tile guy, landscaper, roofer, chef, entrepreneur, and loving father, among many others. 
 
Before remarrying Kathy Worland Cole in 2018; Chris single-handedly renovated the entirety of their Olathe, KS home in less than 6 months. Kathy and Chris loved spending time together on the back porch of their home, drinking Miller Lite at Chris's shop for “Guy Day Friday” with their friends Ty and Mike, and visiting their favorite neighborhood restaurants and bars, where everyone seemed to know Chris like family. 
 
Chris and Kathy also enjoyed weekly visits and afternoons spent with Alexa, Haedyn, Maddy, and Kathy’s five children and two grandchildren, Ross (son), Rudy (son), Kristin (daughter), Shannon (daughter), Alex (son), Lorenzo (grandson), and Viviana (granddaughter). Upon his children's departure for college, Chris insisted they come home for weekly Sunday night dinners, which quickly turned into a regular tradition. Through these gatherings, Chris discovered his hidden talent for smoking ribs, causing his children to request them repeatedly. Chris was eager and excited to become a Grandpa, frequently urging both of his children to hurry up and “get to work” on having babies. In the meantime, he was overly joyed when he got to babysit his grand-dog, Chesney. 
 
There was never a dull moment with Chris, his playful nature could brighten spirits and bring relief to the most stressful situations. Our time with Chris was cut too short, but his infectious laugh and benevolent personality will never be forgotten. 
 
Chris is survived by his loving wife, Kathy Cole; daughter, Alexa Cole (Austin, Texas); son and daughter-in-law, Haedyn and Madisyn Cole (Prairie Village, Kansas); mother, Connie Cole (Goodland, Kansas); and sisters, Cathy and Mark Carman (McCook, Nebraska), Kay Lea and Randy Carri (Goodland, Kansas), and Kim Cole and Dan Oborny, (Goodland, Kansas). 
 
He was preceded in death by his father, Gerald Allan Cole; and grandparents, Ron and Evelyn Rose and Gerald Cole and Martha Cole Stamm.

Memorial services will be held on Monday, July 13, 2020 at 10:00 AM MT at Koons-Russell Funeral Home in Goodland with Pastor Brent Flanders officiating.

Scott Gene Boomer, age 50, of Hays, Kansas, died Tuesday, July 7, 2020, at his home with his loved ones. He was born June 7, 1970, at Seneca, Kansas, to Warren Eugene and Connie V. (Nichols) Boomer. He married Ann Marie (Means) on May 6, 1995, at Jewell, Kansas.

He spent his lifetime in radio broadcasting in a variety of roles from program director to radio announcer. He worked 30 years at Eagle Communications and a few years at KHAZ. Scott, of “Mike and Boomer," was the morning show host on the “The Bull Country KKQY 101.9” FM Radio. Over the years in broadcasting, he received a number of awards.&nbsp; He grew up in Bern and Beloit, Kansas, and was a 1988 graduate of Beloit High School. He also received his bachelor's degree from Fort Hays State University. Scott loved his work and being on the air. He had a deep passion for his family and friends, the community of Hays, and the people he reached out to in Hays, and the surrounding area.

Survivors include his wife, Ann Boomer, of the home; two sons, Tyler Boomer and Kaden Boomer, both of the home; his father and step-mother, Gene and Marsha Boomer, Heath, Texas; one sister, Jodi Foerschler and husband, Josh, Littleton, Colo.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Connie Boomer; and his grandparents, Warren and Viola Boomer, and Claude and Frances Nichols.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday, July 10, 2020, at Celebration Community Church, I-70 &amp; Exit 157, Hays, Kansas. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Friday, July 10, 2020, at the Osborne City Cemetery, Osborne, Kansas.&nbsp;

Suzanne (Simpson) McClure

Allen Wayne Strecker, 71, of Russell, Kansas, died on Wednesday, July 01, 2020, at the Wheatland Nursing Center in Russell.

Allen was born on April 28, 1949, in Russell, Kansas, the son of 
Chester and Lillian (Karst) Strecker.&nbsp; He grew up in Russell and 
graduated from Russell High School in the class of 1967.&nbsp; After high 
school he joined the United States Army during the Vietnam era and was 
stationed in Okinawa, Japan.&nbsp; After serving his country, he returned to 
Russell and lived here most all his life.&nbsp; He worked for the City of 
Russell Fire Department and loved helping protect his home town as a 
fireman.&nbsp; He also worked as a laborer in the Oilfield industry and was a
 certified scuba diver.&nbsp; He was a longtime member of St. John Lutheran 
Church in Russell and was a V.F.W. Post #6240 and American Legion Life 
Member.&nbsp;

Surviving family include his brother Rick Strecker and wife Susan of 
Hays, Kansas, two nieces Kelly Strecker of Kenosha, Wisconsin and Kit 
Dinwiddie and grand niece Sawyer June Dinwiddie of Burneyville, Oklahoma
 and step brother Kenny Shelton and wife Judy of Hoisington, Kansas.&nbsp; He
 was preceded in death by his parents.

Cremation was selected by the family and they will have a private 
burial at a later date.&nbsp; The family requests that in lieu of flowers to 
please give memorials to the Russell City Fire Department and send in 
care of the mortuary.&nbsp; Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary of Russell, 
Kansas, is in charge of the cremation arrangements.

Russell and lived here most all his life.&nbsp; He worked for the City of 
Russell Fire Department and loved helping protect his home town as a 
fireman.&nbsp; He also worked as a laborer in the Oilfield industry and was a
 certified scuba diver.&nbsp; He was a longtime member of St. John Lutheran 
Church in Russell and was a V.F.W. Post #6240 and American Legion Life 
Member.&nbsp;Surviving family include his brother Rick Strecker and wife Susan of 
Hays, Kansas, two nieces Kelly Strecker of Kenosha, Wisconsin and Kit 
Dinwiddie and grand niece Sawyer June Dinwiddie of Burneyville, Oklahoma
 and step brother Kenny Shelton and wife Judy of Hoisington, Kansas.&nbsp; He
 was preceded in death by his parents.Cremation was selected by the family and they will have a private 
burial at a later date.&nbsp; The family requests that in lieu of flowers to 
please give memorials to the Russell City Fire Department and send in 
care of the mortuary.&nbsp; Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary of Russell, 
Kansas, is in charge of the cremation arrangements.

Doris Lea (Warta) Hartwell

Glade farmer and rancher Cecil William "Sandy" Chester passed away 
July 4, 2020 at the age of 94.&nbsp; Born to William and Irma Quanz Chester, 
April 26, 1926, he lived in the same house he was born in until entering
 Phillips County Retirement Center in 2005.&nbsp; Cecil attended Glade Grade 
School and Phillipsburg High School graduating with the class of 1944 
and was proud to play right tackle on the first undefeated football team
 in 1943.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Cecil was a life long farmer, rancher and member of the Glade United 
Methodist Church.&nbsp; He was a charter member of the Solomon Valley 4-H 
Club and served as FFA President while in High School.&nbsp; He was active in
 the County having been on Township Board, Extension Council, County 
ASCS Committeeman, Farm Bureau Board and was Fair Superintendent at the 
4-H and FFA Fair for several years.&nbsp; One of the jobs he really enjoyed 
was being substitute rural mail carrier for 35 years.

Cecil was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Maxine Bertram 
Whitney &amp; Virginia Grubb; brother-in laws John Bertram, Douglass 
Whitney, Steve Grubb and nephew Bill Bertram.

Survivors include nieces Karen Bertram and Nancy Grubb and nephew 
John Bertram, close neighbor and friends Bob &amp; Shirley Quanz and 
family, great nieces and nephews, and numerous cousins.

Cecil was a kind, caring and gentle man which was evident to the end 
and was well thought of and respected by the Staff at the Retirement 
Center.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 9 at 10:30 a.m. in the 
Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel, Phillipsburg, with Pastor Blake Stanwood 
officiating.&nbsp; Burial will follow in the Marvin Cemetery, Glade.&nbsp; The 
service will be streamed live on the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel 
Facebook page.&nbsp;

Visitation will be from 9:00 to 9:00 Tuesday &amp; Wednesday at the funeral home.

Harold Lee Pohlman, 56, of Russell, Kansas, passed away Monday morning, July 6, 2020 at the Salina Regional Hospital in Salina, Kansas.

Harold was born December 29, 1963 in Russell, Kansas, the son of Adam Henry “Hank” and Marjorie Lee (Dumler) Pohlman.&nbsp; He grew up in Russell and graduated from Russell High School in the Class of 1982.&nbsp; He then attended Barton County Community College where he obtained a degree in Diesel Mechanics.

Harold was united in marriage to Londa Lynn Thomas on May 25, 1985 in Russell, Kansas.&nbsp; This union was blessed with two children; Brett and Heather.&nbsp; They made their home in Russell.&nbsp; Londa preceded him in death on March 31, 2008.&nbsp; Later in life he found his soulmate with Ronda Pasek.

Harold started working at the age of eight when he mowed yards here in Russell. During his high school and college years he worked at the AGCO grain elevator. After getting his degree he worked at John Deer. Later he worked for the City of Russell for many years before becoming the owner and operator of the Pohlman Hardware Store.&nbsp; Then later he was an oil field pumper for Clenney Oil Company.&nbsp; He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church.&nbsp; He was a past Exalted Ruler for the Russell Elks Lodge.&nbsp; He was a volunteer for the Russell City Fire Department for over 20 years reaching the rank of Captain.&nbsp; He also was a member of the Russell Masonic Lodge and the Isis Shrine of Salina.&nbsp; He enjoyed playing and watching sports, an avid KU fan, loved being outdoors hunting and fishing.&nbsp; He loved spending time with his grandsons.

Harold’s surviving family include his daughter, Heather Pohlman of Russell, Kansas; son, Brett Pohlman (Ashley) of Hays, Kansas; companion, Ronda Pasek of the home; step-daughter, Michele McNelis (Pat) of Russell, Kansas; mother, Marjorie Pohlman of Russell, Kansas; sister, Barbara Krug (Brad) of Russell, Kansas; niece, Christina Kerns (Theo Mullen) of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; and four grandchildren, Mason Pohlman, Royce Pohlman, Lennox Pohlman and Lainey Krayca.&nbsp; He was preceded in death by his father and wife Londa.

Donald "Don" Laverne Dreiling passed away at The Heritage of Overland Park, KS on June 23, 2020, at the age of 93. He was born to Louise Legge Dreiling and Acqueline “Ack” Dreiling on March 14, 1927, in Park, KS. He spent his childhood in both western Kansas and Kansas City.

After graduating from St. Joseph Military Academy, Don enlisted in the U.S. Navy, where he served as a radar operator in Jacksonville, FL; Olathe, KS; and Memphis, TN, during which time, he obtained his Airman’s Certification (pilot’s license). After his honorable discharge, he attended Fort Hays State College.

Don married Bernice A. Haas on May 22, 1948. Don and Bernice started a family with the birth of their sons John and Michael. He also began his 46-year career in the automotive industry. Starting as a parts manager for O’Loughlin Motor Sales, where he quickly moved into car sales, then selling for Jensen-Lungren Chevrolet, Herb Lungren Chevrolet, and, ultimately, James Motor Company. He retired in 1989.

During retirement, Don took up golf. Don was a fixture at the Fort Hays Municipal Golf Course back when it only had nine holes, and he donated countless hours of sweat equity to ensure the back nine went from an idea to reality.

Don’s infectious personality and love of golf brought his two sons and several of his grandchildren into the sport, which they still play today. He often hosted his grandchildren at the course, where echoes of him shouting, “Keep your head down!” still reflect off the grounds of the Fort.&nbsp;

When not on the course, Don loved to swim laps at The Center (CHI), or he could be found having a cup of coffee and a doughnut, while visiting with friends, old and new.

Don is survived by his son Michael J. Dreiling and daughter-in-law Patty Rohr Dreiling of Leawood, KS, his five grandchildren and ten great grandchildren, his half-brother Mark Dreiling of San Diego, CA, and his daughter-in-law Patricia Dreiling of Austin, TX.&nbsp;

Don was preceded in death and is now reunited with his wife Bernice Dreiling, his son John Dreiling, his brother Ralph Dreiling, his sister Alice Anderson, his mother, Louise Legge Dreiling, his father Acqueline “Ack” Dreiling, along with his favorite canines, Perk, Maggie, and Molly.&nbsp;

Services will take place the morning of Thursday, July 9, 2020, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hays, KS. Visitation at Church begins at 9 a.m., followed by a rosary to be held for Don at 9:30 a.m., with Mass beginning at 10 a.m. Entombment to follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. The military honors will be provided by the Hays VFW Post 9076. Lunch and refreshments will be served at the VFW following his entombment.&nbsp;

Shorty was born July 5, 1940, in Goodland to the late Alexander and 
Della May (Gotchall) Miller.&nbsp; She was raised in Goodland where she 
graduated in 1958 as a proud Goodland Cowgirl.&nbsp; Shorty moved to Garden 
City in 1976 with her husband, Danny Rose and family.&nbsp;

Shorty enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, she
 loved going to casino’s, playing pool (which she was very good at, 
working in her yard on her flowers, playing phase 10, putting puzzles 
together, and most of all listening to Elvis Presley.&nbsp; Shorty loved 
camping with her family as well as spending time at their lake house in 
Glen Elder, Kansas.&nbsp;

Shorty is survived by her husband, Danny of Garden City; sister, 
Darlene Bauman (her best friend) of Goodland; brother, Alex “Chip” 
Miller of McAlester, OK; five children: Diana Russell of Garden City; 
Carrie Sue Jennings of Topeka, KS; Kevin (Stephanie) Butler of Garden

Alan Douglas Ochs, 72, passed away July 4, 2020, at his home in rural
 Hoisington.&nbsp; Alan was born July 10, 1947, in Ransom, to Henry and 
Gwenola (Bagley) Ochs, Jr. &nbsp;On August 6, 1966, Alan married Jeannie 
Siefkes, and were later divorced.&nbsp; On August 5, 1975, he met Leta 
(Jackson) in Hoisington, and they had remained together until her 
passing on Aug. 19, 2015.

Alan, growing up in rural Barton County, had been a Hoisington 
resident since 1959.&nbsp; He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War, 
earning the rank of Staff Sergeant.&nbsp; Alan was a career oilfield worker, 
working for LD Drilling for many years, and eventually as a machinist 
for GBI, retiring in 2012.&nbsp; He was a member of American Legion Post 286 
and V.F.W. Post 7428, both of Hoisington.

Survivors include three daughters Kerry Lynn Brady of Ariz., Justina 
Ochs of Stafford, and Angela Ochs of Hoisington; two sisters, Lin Ochs 
and husband Henry Porter of Goodyear, Ariz. and Marcia Welch of Ft. 
Collins, Co.; one brother, Owen Ochs and wife Deanna of Hoisington; four
 grandchildren, Bailey Kelly, Mercedes Gross, Jaylan Cartwright and 
Kataija Ochs; step siblings, Phil Christy and wife Marsha, Bob Christy 
and wife Leora, Cathy Ennis and husband Bill and Richard Christy and 
wife Brenda; step children, Wendell, Ruby, Michael, Mary, Linda and 
Orlin; and numerous step grandchildren and step great-grandchildren. He 
was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Gwenola Ochs,&nbsp;&nbsp; step

Caroline Julia (Stos) Revell, 85, of Russell, Kansas, passed away Thursday, July 2, 2020 at the Russell Regional Hospital in Russell.

Caroline was born March 29, 1935 in Great Bend, Kansas.  She was the daughter of Adolph R. and Otillia W. (Suchy) Stos.  She grew up in Jetmore, Kansas and graduated from Jetmore High School in the class of 1953.  After high school she received her nursing degree from Barton County Community College.

Caroline was united in marriage to Don J. Revell on May 14, 1955 in Raton, New Mexico.  This union was blessed with three sons, Donnie, Terry and Roy.  In 1968 they moved to Russell, Kansas.  Don preceded her in death on December 9, 2012.  She was a member of the V.F.W. Post #6240 Ladies Auxiliary.  She enjoyed crocheting, reading and spending time with her grandkids and great grandkids.

Surviving immediate family include her sons, Donnie Revell of Russell, Kansas and Terry Revell (Nancy) of Winfield, Kansas; two grandchildren, Tara Duncan (Taylor) of Winfield, Kansas, and Sadie Revell of Overland Park, Kansas; and three great grandchildren, Ella Duncan, Grady Duncan and Lane Duncan.

Caroline was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Melvin Stos and Eugene Stos: husband Don, and infant son Roy Alan Revell.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2 P.M. on Friday, July 17, 2020, at Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary in Russell.  Cremation has been selected by the family and they will greet guests the day of the service.  Memorials can be given to the Russell Food Pantry or Dream Theater and sent in care of the mortuary.   Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary is in charge of the funeral arrangements.

Kenny W. Warnken, 67, passed away July 4, 2020, at his home in Great 
Bend. He was born on December 1, 1952, at Great Bend, to Allen &amp;

A lifetime Great Bend resident, Kenny worked for Essex. He enjoyed 
country cruising while listening to his oldies music. He also enjoyed 
listening to the police scanner.

Survivors include, a son, Erik Warnken and wife Elizabeth of Palmer 
Lake, Colo.; a daughter, Traci Brackbill of Great Bend; a brother, 
Gordon Warnken and wife Jane of Hutchinson; a sister, Verla Gorham of 
Valley Center; and three grandchildren, Kaiden Brackbill, Terrance 
Warnken, and Neil Warnken. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a
 brother, Roger Warnken.

Samuel Duane McNett, 72, passed away July 2, 2020, at his home in 
Great Bend. He was born October 25, 1947, at Great Bend, to Maynard 
&amp; Clara (Weber) McNett. He married Glennis F. Lamb on October 14, 
1973, at Great Bend. She died January 19, 2012.

A lifetime Great Bend resident, Samuel was a refrigeration 
maintenance tech at Great Bend Packing. He was a member of Prince of 
Peace Parish at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. He enjoyed playing 
cards, watching westerns, wrestling and his son's motocross races. He 
especially enjoyed spending time with his family.

Survivors include, two sons, Mark McNett, and Jesse McNett and wife 
Becky, all of Great Bend; four grandchildren, Mickie McNett, Randy 
McNett, Mackenzie Klett, and Shaylyn McNett; and three great 
grandchildren, Sawyer Klett, Aaron Klett, Jr., and Reese Klett. He was 
preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Glennis McNett; a son, 
Mickie "Mick" McNett; and a brother, Maynard McNett.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 9:00 p.m., Monday, July 6, 2020 
at Bryant Funeral Home, with family to receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to

Harry Herl of Collyer, 74, passed away Friday, March 27, 2020.&nbsp; He was born on July 20, 1945, in Quinter, the son of Edwin and Teresa (Augustine) Herl.&nbsp;

Harry married Tharen Troyer on November 29, 1969, and they recently celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary.&nbsp;For the last 42 years, Harry owned and operated Herl Truck Equipment; buying and selling trucks and tractors. &nbsp;He was the largest salvage dealer in the world for Versatile parts and tractors, as well as military surplus; shipping to Canada, Australia, Belize, New Zealand, South Africa and the whole United States to name a few. His son Shawn also worked with him since 1994.&nbsp;

Harry was a member of the VFW in Ransom, and attended the Quinter Church of the Brethren.

He is survived by his wife, Tharen; sons, Shawn Herl of Quinter and Bryan (Tristina) Herl of Hutchinson; daughter, Julie (Carl) Parker of Oakley; grandchildren, Alyssa and Mason Herl and Sarah Parker along with several step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren; sisters, Marilyn Randolph and Connie Daniels; many aunts and uncles; and his fur babies, Fred, Cooper, Ziggy and Sammy. Harry was preceded in death by his parents and step grandson, Timothy Parker.&nbsp;

A memorial service will be held at the Church of the Brethren in Quinter on Monday, July 20, 2020 at 10:00 AM.&nbsp; Military rites will take place at the Kansas Veterans’ Cemetery in Wakeeney on July 20, 2020 at 1:00 PM.&nbsp; Memorials are suggested to the family of Harry, to be designated at a later date, in care of Swaim Funeral Home of Dodge City.
