Karlos (Karl) Von Feldt, 82, of Topeka, died Sunday, July 12, 2020 at the Midland Hospice House Topeka, Kansas.

He was born August 1, 1937 in Hays, Kansas to Frank G. and Angela (Weigel) Von Feldt.

He attended grade school at Vincent, Kansas and graduated from Victoria High School in 1955.&nbsp;

He married Martha Sue Patzner, of Claflin, Kansas on May 29, 1961 at The Basilica of St. Fidelis, formally known at St. Fidelis Church, commonly known as the Cathedral of the Plains, in Victoria, Kansas.&nbsp;

Karl managed or owned service stations in Victoria, Topeka and Meriden. His first station was a Standard Station in Victoria. &nbsp; Before retiring, he owned and operated Karl’s K-4 Standard in Meriden. Karl was a member of the Kansas National Guard. He is a 4th Degree in the Knights of Columbus. He and his wife Sue are long time parishioners at St. Aloysius Church in Meriden. Karl was an avid gardener and collector of clocks.

Survivors include his wife Sue, three sons, Rick of San Diego, Doug and wife Alyson of Lawrence and Jeff and wife Cindy of Olathe. He is a grandfather to Jacob, Sophia (Horner), Meredith and Aidan, children of Doug and Alyson, and Haley (Cunningham) and Megan (Jacobus), children of Jeff and Cindy. Karl was the youngest of eleven children. Karl is survived by one sister, Charlotte Sanders of Wichita, KS; two sisters-in-law, Joan Von Feldt, Victoria, KS; and Dorothy Von Feldt, Palco, KS.

He was preceded in death by his parents, five sisters, Winifreda Beckwith, Isabelle Standley, Alma Sherlock, Mabel Hayes and Mary Louise Dreiling, two brothers, Art and Leo and two infant brothers, Ernest and Charles. &nbsp;

Services were at 11:00 am Thursday, July 16 at St. Aloysius Church in Meriden.&nbsp; A private family inurnment will be at the St. Fidelis Cemetery, Victoria, Kansas at a later date.

The family suggests memorials to St. Aloysius Church, Meriden or the Midland Hospice House in care of Cline’s-Keithley Mortuary of Hays, 1919 East 22nd Street, Hays, Kansas 67601.

John H. Herrmann, 64, died Wednesday, July 15, 2020 at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita.

He was born August 21, 1955 at Spearville, the son of George A. and 
Rita Pauline (Vogel) Herrmann.&nbsp; He attended schools in Dodge City, 
graduated high school from Thomas More Prep in Hays and attended Fort&nbsp; Hays State University.&nbsp; He had a love for the cattle business and was a 
rancher and farmer all of his life.&nbsp; He enjoyed horses, roping and the 
ranches in New Mexico.&nbsp; He was a generous supporter of many 
organizations especially ones that involved youth.&nbsp; He also enjoyed 
competitive games.

He was a member of the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Dodge City and Knights of Columbus Council 3218, Jetmore.

Survivors include: his brothers and sister, Ronnie and wife Dina, 
Ford, Tom and wife Kay, Sherman, Texas, David and companion Lisa Thummel
 Schriver, El Paso, Texas, Danny and wife Colleen, Dodge City and Mary 
Michelle Jantz and husband Keith, Ennis, Texas; many nephews and nieces 
that he loved; and aunts and uncle, Henrietta Schulte, Ft. Collins, 
Colorado, Carol Sue Vogel, Wichita, Liz Loibl, Dodge City and Clara 
Schmitt and husband Charles, Kinsley and Betty Herrmann, Lakin.

Phillipsburg resident Sandra K. Portenier passed away Wednesday, July 15th at the Phillips County Hospital in Phillipsburg at the age of 80.

Sandra was born January 21, 1940, in Wray, Colorado.

She was united in marriage to Dean Portenier on January 3rd, 1957, in Great Bend, KS.&nbsp; He preceded her in death in 2005.

Survivors include her three daughters, Debra Cox of Palmyra, NE, 
Diane R. Boyd and husband &nbsp;Brent of Speed and Jeanette Pakkebier of 
Phillipsburg; her son, Kent Portenier and wife Tamra of Kirwin; two 
sisters Delores Hansen and husband Kenny of Chapell, NE and Barb 
Simmerman and husband Scot of Scotts Bluff, NE; 6 grandchildren; and 7 
great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 21st,

Sandra K. Portenier

Carol J. Schaben, 79, &nbsp;passed away peacefully on June 25, 2020, at Benton House of Lenexa which was her home since 2017.&nbsp;

Carol was born September 11, 1940, in Bison, KS.&nbsp; She was the first 
of three children born to John and Monica Unrein.&nbsp; Carol was a 1958 
graduate of LaCrosse High School.

Carol spent her first 19 years in LaCrosse, KS enjoying a very large 
and extended family.&nbsp; At 19 years old Carol married Tommy Schaben of 
Bazine Kansas.&nbsp; They settled in Independence Missouri and continued to 
farm in Bazine Kansas on the weekends.&nbsp;

Carol worked in the commercial insurance industry for Chubb Insurance
 for 38 years.&nbsp; She began her career as an audit clerk and retired as an
 Operations Service Manager. Carol was very active in the Greater Kansas
 City Insurance Association for many years and was named Insurance Woman
 of The Year in 1989.

After retiring from Chubb Insurance in 1998, Carol began a second 
career as the Business Manager for Nativity of Mary Catholic Parish and 
Grade School in Independence, MO for several years. She was a member of 
Nativity of Mary Catholic Church and served as a Eucharistic minister 
for many years.

Carol also helped found the Jackson County Free Health Clinic of 
Independence MO in 2000. Carol coordinated volunteer doctors, nurses, 
pharmacists and support staff. The Clinic served economically 
disadvantaged individuals in Independence, MO with medical and 
prescription needs every week.

Carol is survived by her daughter &amp; son in law, Patti &amp; Mike 
Bryant, Lenexa, KS and grandson &amp; wife, Brent &amp; Danielle 
Haskell, Ansonia, OH.

A committal&nbsp;service will be held on Saturday, August 8, 2020, 10:00 a.m. at the Bazine Cemetery.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Brian T. Unrein, 62, McKinney, Texas, died Monday, January 20, 2020 in McKinney.

He was born August 24, 1957 in Hays, 
the son of Clement and Viola (Enslinger) Unrein. &nbsp;He was a 1975 graduate
 of Thomas More Prep-Marian High School. &nbsp;On March 29, 1986 he was 
united in marriage to Diana Davis in San Diego, CA. She passed away on 
May 17, 2020 from kidney failure in Lewisville, Texas. &nbsp;Brian was an 
engineer for Inter-Tel in California and Texas. &nbsp;He was a United States 
Marine Corps veteran, serving from 1975 to 1978.

Survivors include two sons; Matthew T. 
Unrein and wife Brittany of Lewisville, TX and Jason M. Unrein of

Mary Lou Logue, age 64, of WaKeeney, 
KS, passed away on Tuesday, July 14, 2020, at Overland Park Regional 
Medical Center, Overland Park, KS. She was born in San Diego, CA on 
August 27, 1955, to Betty Cox. Mary graduated from Cowley County 
Community College with an Associate’s degree in architecture.

Mary served in her community as a 
senior companion for a number of years, greatly enjoyed spending time 
with her grandchildren and supporting them in their sports and 
activities, as well as playing card games, especially pinochle and 
pitch, regularly.

Mary Lou (Keener) Morgenstern, 92, of Russell, Kansas, passed away Monday, July 13, 2020 at Main Street Manor in Russell.

Mary Lou was born October 2, 1927 in Russell, Kansas.  She was the daughter of Nathan and Louise (Sander) Keener.  She grew up in Ellis County, Kansas a few years before moving to Russell with her family and attended schools there.

Mary Lou was united in marriage to Vernon Edward Morgenstern on July 16, 1947 in Russell.  This union was blessed with two sons, Mike and Todd.  They made their home in Russell.  Vernon preceded her in death on May 24, 2014.

Mary Lou was a devoted wife and homemaker for her sons.  She was a member of the St. John Lutheran Church.  She enjoyed playing Bridge with local friends, being on the golf course, volunteering for American Cancer Society, fishing and traveling around the country.

Mary Lou’s surviving family include her two sons, Mike Morgenstern (Susan) of Lone Tree, Colorado and Todd Morgenstern (Kim) of Ellinwood, Kansas; three grandchildren, Jill Dillon (Chris) of Denver, Colorado, Hannah Lewellyn (Drew) of Denver, Colorado and Katie Morgenstern of Ellinwood, Kansas.

Mary Lou was preceded in death by her parents; husband Vernon, sister Jeanette Staley, half sister Thelma Pemberton and brother Jack Keener. A private family burial of ashes will follow at a later date in Russell City Cemetery.  No visitation will be held. Norton resident Wenda Underwood passed away Thursday, July 9th at the Hays Medical Center in Hays, KS at the age of 79.

She was born December 2, 1940 in Norton, KS the daughter of Kenneth and Katherine S. (Murphy) Taylor.

She was united in marriage to James F. Underwood on October 11, 1958 in Norton, KS.&nbsp; He survives in Norton.

Other survivors include her daughters, Patty Fitzmaurice of Belgrade,

Shirley Y. (Richards) Hudson, formerly of McCook, NE, passed away 
Wednesday, June 17, 2020 at the Good Samaritan Society in Hays, Kansas.

Shirley was born at Palisade, Nebraska on December 19, 1923. She was 
the eldest of seven daughters born to Clarence Martin and Ora Inez 
(Miles) Richards. She lived in and around Stratton, Nebraska all her 
life. After attending Stratton Schools, she graduated with the class of 
1941.

Shirley married Neal Hudson on May 23, 1942 in St. Francis, Kansas. 
As teenagers, they began farming south of Stratton on a rented half 
section with borrowed equipment. The determination needed to survive the
 depression, dust bowl, droughts and world war and the demands of labor 
intensive farming, gave Shirley and Neal the fortitude to become 
successful farmers after acquiring the old Chapman/Carmody place where 
they made their life and helped raise an extended family.

Her family often referred to her as the “matriarch” of a large 
extended family, including two children, five grandchildren and an ever 
growing number of great and great-great grandchildren. Shirley’s 
sisters’ families were frequent and welcome members of the household for
 family events, harvest crews, and lovers of her famous pies. Everyone 
was always welcome at Shirley’s table.

Among Shirley’s many activities, she developed an interest in 
Genealogy. Tracking her ancestors to their places of origin and 
documenting persons, places and events resulted in a room full of 
information that will delight her descendants for years to come. After 
retirement, she and Neal traveled around the country seeing sights and 
meeting people. Locating somewhat lost relatives was always a fun part 
of their travels.

After 96 years she was preceded to her next adventure by Neal, her 
husband of 78 years, her parents, parents in law, Chick and Leona 
Hudson, step-mother-in- law Mildred Palmer Hudson and son-in-law Earl 
Ward.

Also reaching heaven before her were her dear sisters, Vivian (Rich) 
Pierce, Wilva (Gene) Harchelroad as well as brothers-in-Law Rich Pierce,
 Bud Jesch, Bill Carroll, Gene Harchelroad, Keith Birks and Gaile Dunn.

Remaining are sisters, Donna Jesch, Eula Carroll, Dorothy Birks and Beverley and Neil Dailey.

She is survived by her children, Roger (Deb) Hudson, and daughter, 
Jean Ward and grandchildren, Jennifer (Steve) Vanderpool, Grant Hudson, 
Chad (Cathy) Quick, Kyle (Paula) Quick and Tisha (Nael) Samha.

Three step-grandchildren and four step great-grandchildren now join 
ten great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren who are 
continuing to produce a small army who will call Shirley, “Grandma”.

Numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins will remember Aunt Shirley forever.

Dorothy Mae Shearer, daughter of William and Cleo (Hunter) Edgett, was born September 17, 1931, in Edmond, Kansas, and passed away at the Andbe Home in Norton, Kansas, on July 13, 2020, at the age of 88.

Dorothy grew up in the Edmond community and graduated from the Edmond High School with the class of 1950.  On May 24, 1950, Dorothy married her loving husband, Dale L. Shearer, in Norton, and they made their home in rural Edmond.  Dorothy worked at the Norton County Courthouse for 29½ years with many of those years as the Norton County Clerk.  Her husband, Dale, passed away January 29, 2015.  Dorothy continued to live in their home until her health no longer allowed her to do so and she moved into the Andbe Home in Norton.

Dorothy was member of the Lenora Church of God for many years and then later the Norton Church of God.  Dorothy and Dale enjoyed square dancing for many years, and she also enjoyed cooking, crocheting and plastic canvas needlework.

Survivors include:  one son, Kurtis, (Janine) Shearer, Norton; one daughter, Pamela Applebury, Wichita, Kansas; three grandchildren, Melyssa Reeves, Wichita; Austin Applebury, Derby, Kansas; Dale Shearer, Orlando, Florida; one great-grandson, Adrian Reeves; other relatives and friends.

Dennis Lee Engel, age 65, of Hays, 
Kansas passed away Wednesday, March 25, 2020, in Hays surrounded by loved
 ones.&nbsp; He was born January 20, 1955, in Hays to Victor Engel and Viola 
(Dougherty) Engel.&nbsp;

Dennis worked at LK Dairy and 
the&nbsp;24/7&nbsp;convenience&nbsp;store as the assistant manager and manager where he
 retired after 38 years of service. He enjoyed bowling, fantasy sports, 
playing baseball and softball. &nbsp;

He married Carol Herl on January 22, 1986. They later divorced.

He is survived by his mother, Viola 
Engel of Hays, one son, Eric (Jamie) Engel of Hays, two daughters; 
Jennifer (Travis) Ratliff of Greeley, CO and Kelli Engel of Hays, KS; 
one brother Steve (Robin) Engel of Hays; two sisters Alice (Larry) 
Robben of Hays, and Lois (Ralph) Augustine of Hays; Grandchildren 
include Brandon Ratliff, Brianna Ratliff, Evan Cosgriff - Guthrie, 
Abigail Engel and two step grand children Robert Brown and Sabrina 
Brown.&nbsp;

He was preceded in death by his father, and brother Cliff, and brother in law Larry Robben.&nbsp;

Memorial services will be Saturday, 
July 18, 2020 at 1:00 PM at Messiah Lutheran Church of Hays, 2000 Main

Dennis Lee Engel

Reba J. Raleigh, 96, passed away July 14, 2020, at Medicalodges of 
Great Bend. She was born June 12, 1924, at Hobart, Okla., the daughter 
of Clifford C. &amp; Margaret (Jackson) Williams. She married John 
Richard Raleigh on October 9, 1944, at Frederick, Okla. He died February
 20, 1999.

She was employed by Central Kansas Medical Center, Thurman-Morrison 
and Associates, and Dr. John J. Mingenback. She was a member of the 
Church of Christ in Great Bend.&nbsp;She especially enjoyed spending time 
with her family. She will be missed by her family and friends.

Survivors include, a son, Joe D. Raleigh and wife Sandra of Wichita; 
one sister, Merideth Lohn of Willcox, Ariz.; one sister in law, Fern 
Raleigh of Windom; two granddaughters, Karen Dennett and husband 
Michael, and Kimberly Foster and husband Henry; five great 
grandchildren, Tyler Dennett and wife Ashley, Joshua Dennett, Baylea 
Dennett, John Foster, and Brianna Foster; and many nieces and nephews. 
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John R. Raleigh; and 
three sisters, Erma Mansell, Lorene Watson, and June Lyde.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., Thursday, July 
16, 2020 at Bryant Funeral Home, with family to receive friends from 
5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday,

Reba J. Raleigh

Jola (Gerstberger) Kraus, 88, died on July 12th at Garden Valley 
Retirement Village in Garden City, Kansas. 

Jola was born on October 17, 
1931, in Wichita County, Kansas, and she grew up in Marienthal, Kansas. 
Jola attended Marymount College in Salina, Kansas, earning an 
Associate's Degree in elementary education. She was the first lay 
teacher in 1951 at St. Mary's Catholic School in Garden City, Kansas, 
teaching fourth graders. Jola was a longtime member of St. Mary's 
Catholic Church. 

She married her husband, Bernard Kraus, in 1952. They 
established a farm outside of Holcomb, Kansas where they reared their 
four daughters. They moved to Garden City in 1985 upon retiring from 
farming. Jola and Bernard were avid and accomplished bridge players 
during their lives together; she continued playing until shortly before 
her death. Bernard preceded her in death in 1991. Jola was a member of 
her local chapter of the Extension Homemakers Unit Group for over 60 
years. Until a few years ago, Jola was a regular participant in water 
exercises at the YWCA, and until recently she was active in Newman Club 
and Prayer Group. 
 Jola is survived by her four daughters: Michelle Turner (husband, 
John Smith) of Holcomb, Kansas; Stephanie Merrill (husband, Michael) of 
Austin, Texas; Mary Traugott of Garden City, Kansas; Jennifer Delgado 
(husband, Luis) of Austin, Texas. Jola is also survived by her sisters, 
Bernice Berning of Leoti, Kansas and Shirley Kuriyama of Amarillo,Texas;
 also surviving is her brother, Gerald Gerstberger of Overland Park, 
Kansas. Jola is survived by seven grandchildren and six 
great-grandchildren. 
 In addition to her husband, Bernard, Jola is preceded in death by 
her parents, Alphonse A. Gerstberger and Loretta Kreutzer Gerstberger, 
and by her sister, Lil Akagi. 
 Public Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 15 from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Garnand Funeral Home. Rosary will be at 10:00, Thursday, July 16 followed by a Mass of The 
Resurrection at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Garden City at 10:30.

Thomas Logan Taggart, 72, of Bunker Hill, Kansas, passed away Sunday, March 22, 2020 at Russell Regional Hospital in Russell, Kansas.

Thomas was born December 4, 1947 in Manhattan, Kansas, the son of Richard H. and Margaret (Parham) Taggart. He grew up in Hays, Kansas, and graduated from Hays High School in the Class of 65. He then attended two years at Ft. Hays State University before joining the U.S. Army. He served his country in the Vietnam War.

Thomas was united in marriage to Janet Marie Dolan on June 2, 1976 in Russell. This union was blessed with two daughters; Rory and Lacy. They made their home in Bunker Hill.

Thomas was a rural Mail Carrier for the U.S. Post Office in Wilson, Kansas for over 35 years, retiring in 2015. He also was the owner and operator of the Bunker Hill Café. He was a member of the Otterbein United Methodist Church. He also was a proud member of the Russell V.F.W. Post #6240. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, cooking, conversations with family and friends, but the most enjoyment was his family, especially his grandchildren.

Surviving family include his wife of 43 years, Janet of the home; daughters, Rory Van Landingham (Barry) of Houston, Mississippi and Lacy Hammack (Josh) of Russell, Kansas; sisters, Connie Taggart of Shawnee, Kansas and Phyllis Shipley (Steve) of Gladston, Missouri; step brothers, Lonnie Hill (Annie) and Bill Hill; step sisters, Tammy Vega (Joe) Pueblo, Colorado and Teresa Hill (Ty) of Ellis, Kansas; seven grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Thomas was preceded in death by his parents, brother Bruce Taggart and grandson Jake Van Landingham.

A celebration of Tom’s life will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Friday, July 17, 2020, at the Otterbein United Methodist Church in Russell, Kansas.  Burial will follow at the Bunker Hill Cemetery.  After the graveside service a reception and greeting with the family will be held at the Bunker Hill Community Center.  Memorials may be given to North Central Kansas Technical College (NCK Technical College – Nursing Program) and sent in care of the mortuary. Elmer “Jake” H. Chaney, age 82, of Sharon Springs passed away Sunday,
 July 12, 2020 at his home in Sharon Springs.&nbsp; Jake was born on October 
23, 1937 to Virgil M. and Fern D. &nbsp;(Swartz) Chaney in Sharon Springs.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Jake grew up and went to school in Weskan, after graduating high 
school in 1955 he married the love of his life Glenna Collins on August 
17, 1958 in Weskan.&nbsp; After marriage, he worked for Raymond Miller.&nbsp; In 
1960, they moved to Oberlin, Kansas and he began working for Pepsi Cola 
Company and Frito Lay.&nbsp; In 1969 they moved to Goodland and he worked for
 Dreiling Drilling Company and Model Laundry.&nbsp; In December 1970 they 
returned to Sharon Springs and he began working for the Wallace County 
Co-op, he retired as branch manager in 2000.&nbsp;

Jake was a member of the Sharon Springs Lutheran Church.&nbsp; He enjoyed 
playing cards, games, horseshoes, washers, traveling abroad in 47 
states, bingo, and spending time with his family.&nbsp;

He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents; brothers, 
Charles, and Leonard; sisters, Norma Arnberger and Wilma Arnberger; and 
grandson, Christopher Cloe.&nbsp;

Jake is survived by his wife, Glenna of Sharon Springs; children, 
Teri Jeanne (Brad Thompson) Cloe of Elk City, OK; Wayne Leon &nbsp;of

Roberta Joan Haley, 87, died July 12, 2020, at Woodhaven Care Center,
 Ellinwood. She was born January 19, 1933, in Gypsum, Kansas, the 
daughter of Robert J. and Mayola Fae (Beatty) Haley.

A longtime Claflin resident, Roberta cleaned houses and was a 
babysitter to many of the children in the community. She was a member of
 the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, the Altar Society, and 
Daughters of Isabella Circle #744.

Survivors include; a brother, Dennis Haley of Merrionette Park, 
Illinois; sisters, Mary Barta of Holyrood, and Patricia Haley of 
Ellinwood; 4 neices and several great neices and nephews.

Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Thursday and Friday at the funeral home.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, July 18th,

Io Jaqueline Kirkwood, 96, Garfield, Kansas, died Saturday, July 4, 2020, at her home.

Mrs. Kirkwood was born February 7, 1924, in Preston, Kansas, the 
daughter of John George and Hattie C. (Freymiller) Schlenz.&nbsp; She was a 
lifelong resident of Pawnee, Kansas.&nbsp; Mrs. Kirkwood attended a one room 
school, and graduated in 1941.&nbsp; She was a homemaker and farm wife.

She was a member of the Kinsley Baptist Church, Kinsley, Kansas.

On February 10, 1945, she married Lester James Kirkwood, Jr. at the 
Methodist Church, Turon, Kansas.&nbsp; He preceded her in death March 27, 
1989.

Survivors include:&nbsp; six sons, Robert David Kirkwood (Lucy), Clyde, 
Texas, Aaron Paul Kirkwood (Nancy), Garfield, Kansas, Stephen John 
Kirkwood (Jane), Kinsley, Kansas, Lester Lauren Kirkwood (Kristi), 
Yoder, Kansas, Timothy Gene Kirkwood (Veronica), Sadler, Texas, and 
Kerry Lynn Kirkwood (Carla), Cedar Park, Texas; three daughters, Karen 
Ann Freeman (David), Clearwater, Florida, Dierdre Lou Tidwell (Phillip),
 Ault, Colorado, and Sherry Jean McGee, Kansas City, Missouri; 30 
grandchildren; 59 great grandchildren; and one sister, Wilma Fisher, 
Tennessee.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one brother, 
Robert Schlenz; one sister, Pauline Salzer; and one step sister, JoAnn 
McCowan.

Because of the current challenges the world is facing at the present 
time, the family will host a Celebration of Life in the future, to be 
announced at a later date.

In lieu of flowers or plants, the family requests memorials to the Kinsley Baptist Church, Kinsley, Kansas.

Joseph Wasinger, aged 90, died peacefully on April 12, 2020 in Arvada, Colorado.&nbsp; Joseph was born March 1, 1930, in Hays, Kansas, the son of late Martin and Mary Wasinger.&nbsp;

Joseph is survived by four children including two daughters, Sheryl and Joann; two sons, Mark and Greg; four grandchildren: Amy, Jared, Easton, and Mary and one great-grandchild: Alyson.

A talented athlete in high school, Joseph attended Fort Hays State University on a football scholarship. It was there he met his loving wife of 63 years, MaryAnn. Joseph served in the United State Army during the Korean War.&nbsp;&nbsp;

In 1955, he and MaryAnn moved to Denver, CO where Joseph began his career in the Steel Industry.&nbsp; He worked many years as a Sales Manager. After retirement, he and Mary Ann moved to Sun City West, AZ and enjoyed 20 wonderful years there together. He loved the desert climate and always liked to say “another great day in the desert!”&nbsp; He enjoyed fishing and golfing and “going up the river” to his favorite casino.&nbsp; He loved watching sports in his spare time.&nbsp; After MaryAnn passed away in 2018, Joseph moved to Colorado to live with his children.

Funeral Services and a reception honoring the life of Joseph will be 11:00 AM Saturday, July 18, 2020 at Brock’s-Keithley Funeral Chapel and Crematory, 2509 Vine Street Hays, Kansas 67601

Former Phillipsburg resident Donna M. Pflieger passed away July 11, 2020, at the Midland Hospice House in Topeka at the age of 82.&nbsp; She was born Jan 5, 1938, in Agra, KS the daughter of Lloyd &amp; Berniece (McCready) Gruwell.

Survivors include her daughter, Sherri Wark of Topeka; brother, Luroy Gruwell of Republican City, NE; sisters, Beulah Schriner of Dodge City &amp; Mary Blubaugh of Topeka; 3 grandchildren &amp; 4 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 16 at 10:00 a.m. in the First Lutheran Church, Phillipsburg, with Pastor Ben Ockree officiating. The service will be streamed live on the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel Facebook page. &nbsp; Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery.
