Jim P. Krayca Jr.

Lifelong Goodland, Kansas, resident James Paul Krayca Jr., 83, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, December 12, 2020, at the Goodland Regional Medical Center in Goodland.

Jim as he was known to everyone, was born on August 12, 1937, in Goodland, Kansas, to James P. and Ann (Hradecky) Krayca, Sr.  He was one of six children.  He attended school in rural Sherman County.  

On November 18, 1956, Jim married Eileen Dean in Burlington, Colorado. The couple made their home in Goodland. To this union, four children were born: Danny, Debra “Debbie," Patricia and Pamela.

Jim had been working for many years at McClure Plumbing and Heating which he received his 50-year Certificate of Appreciation Award last December and was still employed there at the time of his death.  He was a member of the St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Goodland and a member of the Goodland Elks Club. He was very proud of being a Sherman County Sheriff’s Deputy Reserve for many years. His favorite things were shooting his guns, fishing, going to every garage sale he could find, hanging out at public places, visiting with everyone that passed by him, and he especially loved spending time with his kids and grandkids. 

Preceding him in death were his parents, his wife, Eileen, and two brothers, Richard and Wayne Krayca.

He is survived by his children; Danny (Diane) Krayca of Goodland, KS, Debra “Debbie” (Stephen) Simon of Goodland, KS, Patricia (Sage) Bunney of Eaton, CO and Pamela (Kevin) Hook of Syracuse, KS. He is also survived by seven grandchildren: Shane (Lindsey) Simon, Tilisha Bunney, Kris Krayca, Shandel (Stephen) Reeves, Jason (Tarah) Krayca, Paige (Timmy) Wideman, and Payden Hook; 16 great-grandchildren, his three siblings: Ken (Glenda) Kraysha of Townsend, GA, David (Sondra) Krayca of Goodland, KS and Betty (Don) Engle of Russell, KS, and his special friend, Dee Spiker of Goodland, KS. 

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 19, 2020, at 10:30 AM MT at Koons-Russell Funeral Home in Goodland with Father Don Martin officiating.  Burial will follow in the Goodland Cemetery. 

Visitation will be held on Friday, December 18, 2020, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM MT at Koons-Russell Funeral Home.

Memorials may be designated to the St. Paul’s Episcopal Church or to the Sherman County 4-H Shooting Sports and may be left at the services or mailed to Koons-Russell Funeral Home, 211 N. Main Ave., Goodland, KS 67735.
