Duane Francis “Doc” Bieker, passed away on November 5, 2024, in
his hometown of Hays, Kansas. He was born on October 6, 1948 to John and Irene
(Fisher) Bieker. Doc graduated from Hays High School in 1966. On October 25,
1969 he married Phyllis (Beggs) in Hays.

Doc
dedicated his career to the oil industry, first becoming the owner-operator of
Golden B Hydra Drilling, and later founding DD Oil in partnership with Dave
Fisher.



Doc will
not only be remembered for his professional achievements but also for his
vibrant character. Outgoing and filled with a big personality, he was a great
friend and a jovial jokester who brought laughter and joy to those around him.
His passion for life extended beyond his career; he had a love for golfing,
men's softball, and was an ardent supporter of his favorite sports teams: the
KC Chiefs, Kansas City Royals, and KU Basketball. Above all, his proudest
accomplishments were his children, Matthew and Jessica, and the joy of being a
grandfather to Landry Sophia, attending her activities and when unable to be
there in person watching her on videos sent to him from Matt and Meagan.



As a US
Navy veteran, Doc served his country honorably during the Vietnam War.

 Doc is
survived by his loving spouse, Phyllis of Hays; his son, Matthew John Bieker,
his wife Meagan, and their daughter Landry, all of Olathe, KS; his daughter,
Jessica Dawn Williby, and her husband Jason of Hays; his brother Kenneth Bieker
and his wife Jeanette of Haysville, KS; his sisters Kathy Schmidt and her
husband Richard of Denver, CO, and Paula Johnson and her husband Greg of
Ozawkie, KS.



He is
preceded in death by his parents, John and Irene (Fisher) Bieker; his mother
and father-in-law, Phillip and Elsie Beggs; his sister-in-law, Judy Beggs
Pierson; and his brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Mary Ritterhouse.



A memorial
gathering will be held on Sunday, November 10, 2024, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at
Keithley Funeral Homes and Crematory-Brock’s Chapel, located at 2509 Vine St,
Hays, KS.



Funeral
services will be 1:00 PM Monday, November 11, 2024, at St. Joseph's Catholic
Church, 215 West 13th Street, Hays, KS. Military honors courtesy of the Hays

Kansas went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, November 4,
2024 in Ellis. He was born January 5, 1954 in Hays, Kansas to John and Dolores
(Weigel) Heit.&nbsp;



His working career started off with the Oil Field before he made his way to the
East Coast where he became a regional manager and installer with a security
system company. James made his way back to the Hays area and started his
company Hi-Tech Fire Alarm which specialized in maintenance, testing and installations
of fire alarm systems.&nbsp;He retired in 2017.&nbsp;



James is survived by two sons, Joshua Heit and wife Mari of Redondo Beach, CA
and Coady Heit and wife Kelsey and their children Caleb and Keilah all of
Ellis; brothers, Jerry Heit and wife Chris of Topeka, KS, Doug Heit of Missouri
and Randy Ralston and wife Kerri of Garden City, KS.



He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother,
Kevin Heit.



Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Saturday, November 9,
2024 at Keithley Funeral Homes and Crematory-Brock's Chapel 2509 Vine Hays, KS

Gerald 'Allen' Hammersmith, 64, of Gorham, Kansas, died on Sunday, November 3, 2024, at his home in&nbsp;Gorham, Kansas.

Allen was born on April 18, 1960, in Russell, Kansas, the son of Gerald Dean and Mildred Marie (Crockett)&nbsp;Hammersmith. He grew up in Gorham, Kansas, and graduated from Gorham High School in the class of&nbsp;1978. He met, fell in love and was united in marriage to Lou Ann Schulte on February 24, 1979, in Walker,&nbsp;Kansas. From this union Allen and Lou Ann were blessed with two children, Jared and Nicole. He worked&nbsp;in the Oil Field Industry for many years. He was a longtime member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church in&nbsp;Walker, Kansas. He enjoyed woodworking, cooking, baking and spending time with his grandchildren. He&nbsp;was previously a member of the Gorham Fire Department.

Surviving family includes his wife Lou Ann of the home; son Jared Hammersmith and wife J.J. of Gorham,&nbsp;Kansas; daughter Nicole Hartman and husband Mitch of Hays, Kansas; mother, Mildred Hammersmith of&nbsp; Victoria, Kansas; sisters Peggy Wohler of Victoria, Kansas and Donna Weigel of Gorham, Kansas; six&nbsp;grandchildren Seth, Ava and Sage Schwien and Katelyn Hartman, Jaden and Jalynn Hammersmith.

Janell Shorman was born October 29, 1960 in Oberlin, KS, and passed on her 64th birthday at KU Medical Center.

Janell was raised in Oberlin and was a 1978 graduate of Oberlin High School. She earned a degree in nursing at Marymount College in Salina and worked as a nurse for many years. She loved what she did, especially her work with children and the elderly.

Janell leaves behind a lasting legacy through her two beloved children Michael and Matt, whom she adored and cherished. Her dedication to her family was inspiring and her love for them was unmeasurable. She left behind her two best friends Dina Heier and Jana Donnelly, and a special friend Steve Woodring.

She found solace and joy in the beauty of nature, spending countless hours in her garden surrounded by blooming flowers and vibrant plants. The tranquility of the outdoors brought her peace and contentment.

Her faith was a cornerstone of her life, and she found strength and comfort in her church community. She was known for her kind heart, compassionate spirit, and willingness to help others in need.

Janell was an avid K-State and Chiefs fan, always eager to watch with her sons and parents. She loved swimming and being in the water. She was always excited to go on new adventures and travel.

She is survived by her two sons Michael (Kansas City) and Matt (of Hays). Two brothers Dave (of Park City) and Bob (of Hays) and many other family members.

She is preceded in death by her parents Elmo and Margaret Lund.

Though she may be gone, her memory will live on through the lives she touched and the love she shared. May she rest in peace knowing she was cherished by all.

Victoria, Kansas passed away on Tuesday, October 29, 2024, at Via Christi
Village Care Center in Hays, Kansas.&nbsp;

She was born June 27, 1950, in Hays, Kansas to Irenus “Shorty” and Alma
(Jacobs) Leiker.&nbsp; She married Wayne Wellbrock on May 8, 1971, in Munjor,
Kansas.

Diane worked at the Victoria Total Convenience Store for about 17 years, and
also The Library Bar and Grill.&nbsp; In her early years, she worked at
ArensWear and Amphenol-Adronics Inc., both of Hays.&nbsp; She grew up in
Munjor, attended Munjor Grade School and was a 1968 graduate of Hays High
School.&nbsp; 

She was a member of Saint Boniface Catholic Church and Saint Boniface Christian
Mothers, both of Vincent, Kansas.&nbsp; Diane enjoyed attending all the
grandkids’ school and sporting activities, bingo, card games and luncheons with
her girlfriends.&nbsp; Diane had multiple small jobs, but her main job was as a
mom and grandma.

She is survived by her husband, Wayne Wellbrock, of the home; her sons, John
Wellbrock and wife, Melissa, Victoria, KS; Chris Wellbrock and wife, Laura,
Hays, KS;&nbsp; Curtis Wellbrock and wife, Jeanna,

Victoria, Kansas passed away on Tuesday, October 29, 2024, at Via Christi
Village Care Center in Hays, Kansas.&nbsp;She was born June 27, 1950, in Hays, Kansas to Irenus “Shorty” and Alma
(Jacobs) Leiker.&nbsp; She married Wayne Wellbrock on May 8, 1971, in Munjor,
Kansas.Diane worked at the Victoria Total Convenience Store for about 17 years, and
also The Library Bar and Grill.&nbsp; In her early years, she worked at
ArensWear and Amphenol-Adronics Inc., both of Hays.&nbsp; She grew up in
Munjor, attended Munjor Grade School and was a 1968 graduate of Hays High
School.&nbsp; She was a member of Saint Boniface Catholic Church and Saint Boniface Christian
Mothers, both of Vincent, Kansas.&nbsp; Diane enjoyed attending all the
grandkids’ school and sporting activities, bingo, card games and luncheons with
her girlfriends.&nbsp; Diane had multiple small jobs, but her main job was as a
mom and grandma.She is survived by her husband, Wayne Wellbrock, of the home; her sons, John
Wellbrock and wife, Melissa, Victoria, KS; Chris Wellbrock and wife, Laura,
Hays, KS;&nbsp; Curtis Wellbrock and wife, Jeanna,
Victoria, KS; Scott Wellbrock and wife, Meagan, Victoria, KS; her brothers,
Allen Leiker and wife, Judy, Hays, KS; David Leiker and wife, Jean, Munjor, KS;
her sister, Kathy Dick and husband, Mike, Russell, KS; her brother-in-law,
Steve Hoffman, Gorham, KS; her sisters-in-law, Shirley Augustine, Ellinwood,
KS; Joyce Wellbrock, Victoria, KS; Lucy Boucher, Hays, KS; Sunell Koerner,

Diane Marie Wellbrock

Cheri (Harkness Parks) Santiago, residing in
Salina, KS, passed away peacefully at home on October 24, 2024.&nbsp;&nbsp; She
was born in Shreveport, LA on June 17, 1944, to Myron and Marcile Harkness. She
married Richard Parks in 1962, and they later divorced.&nbsp; There were three
children born of that marriage, Stephanie (Shawn) Compton, Kearsten (Mike)
Koerner, and Samantha (Dave) Angell.&nbsp; She co-owned several businesses
during her time in Hays, KS, including The Coachman’s Inn, Arlo’s Landing, and
Wood Concepts.&nbsp;&nbsp;

She later moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico, where she met
and married Ric Santiago on March 30, 1994.&nbsp; She spent the next several
years designing for Custom Cupboards. She returned to Kansas in 2010.

Cheri is survived by her loving husband Ric Santiago; three
daughters; grandchildren: Raegan (Josh) Compton, Haelie (Palmer) Boykin,
Spencer Angell, Cristina Koerner, Jackson Angell, and Wyatt Angell; and her
bonus children: Annette (Steve) Kitts, Jessica Santiago, and David (Alex)
Santiago.&nbsp; She also had friends, family and extended family whom she loved
and cherished.&nbsp;

She was preceded in death by her brother, Jim Harkness; and
parents, Myron and Marcile Harkness.&nbsp;

A Funeral Mass will be at 9:30 a.m., Wednesday, November 6,
2024 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 1000 Burr Oak Ln., Salina, KS.

Cheri (Harkness Parks) Santiago

Kenneth Pfannenstiel, beloved husband, dad, grandpa, cousin
and friend, passed away peacefully on October 27, 2024, at the age of 76. Born
on January 7, 1948, Kenny grew up and was a lifelong resident of Hays, Kansas.
He was the son of Paul J. and Philippa Pfannenstiel.

As a child, Kenny enjoyed his time with his cousins. He
learned to dance the polka, play the accordion, and eat his favorite family
German dishes.

Kenny graduated from St. Joseph’s Military Academy, Class of
1966. He continued his education at Salina Vo-Tech and became a machinist in
1968. He was highly skilled in his trade, and over the years, he worked for
Ralph’s Welding and Machine, Cross Manufacturing, S &amp; W Supply Co., and
Rans Inc. He retired as a custodial specialist from Fort Hays State University
in 2011.

On June 19, 1971, Kenny married Diana Clews at Immaculate
Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Hays, beginning a life together that lasted 53
years. They were soulmates. Together, they raised 2 children: Sara and Kevin.
He was a loving father who worked hard to provide for his family.

Kenny loved spending time with his family and friends. He
enjoyed a good conversation, classic cars, cheering on the Royals and the
Kansas City Chiefs, and listening to his favorite songs on the oldies channel.
Most of all, he loved being a grandpa. He enjoyed celebrating birthday parties,
hosting talent shows and playing endless games of checkers and Bingo.

Kenneth Pfannenstiel had a life filled with faith, love, and
friendship. He is survived by his wife, Diana; his children Sara (Matthew)
Mahoney and Kevin (Tanda) Pfannenstiel; and four grandchildren, Jaxson, Lexi,
Maeve and Liam. Kenny was preceded in death by his parents, his in-laws Leroy
and Susie Faye Clews and his sister-in-law Kimberly Clews. He was an honorary
lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 am on Saturday,
November 9, 2024 at St. Nicholas of Myra Catholic Church with Fr. Damian
Richards officiating.&nbsp; The family will
receive friends from 5:30 pm until 7:00 on Friday, November 8, 2024 at St.
John’s Chapel at Via Christi Village and from 9:00 am until service time on
Saturday at St. Nicholas of Myra Catholic Church.&nbsp; A vigil service and rosary will be at 6:30 pm

Michael
Raye Scheuerman, age 75, former Hays, Kansas resident passed away on Friday,
October 25, 2024, at the Ussery-Roan Texas State Veterans Nursing Home in
Amarillo, Texas.

He was born June 26, 1949, in LaCrosse, Kansas to Alvin and Clarinetta E.
(Scheuerman) Scheuerman.&nbsp; He married Deborah (Roach) on January 31, 2016.&nbsp;

Michael grew up on a farm outside of Bison, Kansas.&nbsp; He attended Otis
Grade School&nbsp;and
was a 1967 graduate of Otis High School.&nbsp; After graduation he enlisted in
the U S Marine Corps and did his basic training in San Diego and his advanced
infantry at Camp Pendleton.&nbsp; He served three years in active duty and
served three years in reserves.&nbsp; One of his tour of duty he spent 12
months in Vietnam where he received a Purple Heart for wounds received in
combat.&nbsp; 

After his time in the military he worked for the Hermann’s then attended Salina
Area Technical College getting his degree in Diesel Mechanic.&nbsp; Following
his training he opened Mike’s Repair in Otis, and later worked for Tupper’s
Custom Harvesters, George’s Repair, and I-70 Trucking where he retired from.&nbsp; 

Michael lived in Hays for many years and moved to Amarillo in 2016.&nbsp; While
in Hays he was a member of the Messiah Lutheran Church, a Lifetime member of
the Hays V.F.W Post #9076, and Edwin A. Schumacher Marine Corps League.&nbsp;
He enjoyed fishing, cooking, playing cards and golfing.

Michael is survived by his wife, Deboarh, of the home; his children, Marci;
Micah; and Marc, Scheuerman; and his two grandsons, all of Kansas City; his
brothers, Dennis Scheuerman and wife, VirJean, Smithville, MO; Paul Scheuerman
and wife, Doreen, Angola, KS; his nephew, Tate Scheuerman; his nieces, Treva
DeLeon, and Anna Scheuerman.

 Funeral Services will be at 11:00 A.M. Friday, November 1, 2024, at
Cline’s-Keithley Mortuary of Hays with Reverend Kenton Rohrberg

David E. 'Dave' Haddock, 73, Hays, died Thursday, October 24, 2024 at HaysMed.

He was born
April 30, 1951 in Hays, the son of Herman E. and Oma M. (Shetler) Haddock.&nbsp; Dave was a graduate of Hays High School in
1969, and served in the U.S. Army from 1969-1971, repairing helicopter skins.&nbsp; On May 27, 1973 he was united in marriage to
Catherine Rose “Cathy” Saunders in Gillette, Wyoming.&nbsp; Dave worked at LaCrosse Furniture Factory for
27 years and then in the Auto Care Center at Wal-Mart for 17 years.&nbsp; He never knew a stranger, was a good
listener, gave sound advice, and valued the importance of education.&nbsp; He enjoyed life outdoors, woodworking, mechanic
work, farming, and loved being with his granddaughters.

Survivors
include his wife Cathy of Hays, his son Tim Haddock (Mandy Brungardt) of
Emmeram, his daughter, Natalie Irwin (Matt) of Centennial, CO, a brother, Jack
Haddock (JoAnn) of Munjor, two sisters, Judy Allen of Topeka and Oma Dee
Milledge (Rick) of Kiowa, his mother-in-law, Arlene Saunders of Gillette, WY,
five granddaughters, Riley, Hayden, Katelyn, Karsyn, and Zoe, and numerous
nieces and nephews.

He was
preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Donald and Gary Haddock, two
sisters, Joyce Haddock and Charlotta Klaus, his granddaughter, Alyshia, and his
father-in-law, Bernard Saunders.

David E. 'Dave' Haddock

Richard
Dean (Rick) Anderson, age 68, of Hays, Kansas, formerly of Medicine Lodge,
Kansas, passed away on Monday, October 21, 2024, at Hays Medical Center.



Rick was born at Community General Hospital, Sterling, Illinois, on November
10, 1955, the first born of Zane and Joyce (Knight) Anderson. Rick grew up in
Rock Falls, Illinois, attending Rock Falls schools and graduating in 1974 from
Rock Falls High School. He married Amy Lynn (Songer) Anderson on February 5,
1977, at the First Presbyterian Church, Sterling, Illinois. Rick and Amy made
Rock Falls their home until 1983 when they moved to Medicine Lodge, Kansas.
There, Rick went to work for National Gypsum Company, retiring in 2021 after 38
years.



Rick enjoyed spending time with family, especially the grandkids. He was an
avid golfer and loyal Kansas City Chiefs fan. He was a member of the Medicine
Lodge Methodist Church.



Survivors include; wife, Amy; daughters; Laura (Max) Wheeler, Maize, KS; Carrie
(Jeremy) Lane, Hays, KS; 4 grandchildren; Chase and Katelyn Wheeler, Michaela
and Eli Lane; brother Lon Anderson, Rock Falls, IL; sister Judith Edison,
Sterling IL; sister in law Julie (Jesse) Ramirez of Morrison, IL; brother in
law David Songer, Riverside, CA, as well as many nieces, nephews, aunts and
uncles and cousins



He was preceded in death by his parents; father-in-law and mother-in-law,

Dean (Rick) Anderson, age 68, of Hays, Kansas, formerly of Medicine Lodge,
Kansas, passed away on Monday, October 21, 2024, at Hays Medical Center.

Rick was born at Community General Hospital, Sterling, Illinois, on November
10, 1955, the first born of Zane and Joyce (Knight) Anderson. Rick grew up in
Rock Falls, Illinois, attending Rock Falls schools and graduating in 1974 from
Rock Falls High School. He married Amy Lynn (Songer) Anderson on February 5,
1977, at the First Presbyterian Church, Sterling, Illinois. Rick and Amy made
Rock Falls their home until 1983 when they moved to Medicine Lodge, Kansas.
There, Rick went to work for National Gypsum Company, retiring in 2021 after 38
years.

Rick enjoyed spending time with family, especially the grandkids. He was an
avid golfer and loyal Kansas City Chiefs fan. He was a member of the Medicine
Lodge Methodist Church.

Survivors include; wife, Amy; daughters; Laura (Max) Wheeler, Maize, KS; Carrie
(Jeremy) Lane, Hays, KS; 4 grandchildren; Chase and Katelyn Wheeler, Michaela
and Eli Lane; brother Lon Anderson, Rock Falls, IL; sister Judith Edison,
Sterling IL; sister in law Julie (Jesse) Ramirez of Morrison, IL; brother in
law David Songer, Riverside, CA, as well as many nieces, nephews, aunts and
uncles and cousins

He was preceded in death by his parents; father-in-law and mother-in-law,
Charles and Doris Songer; brother-in-law Robert Edison and sister-in-law Cindy
Songer.

Richard Dean (Rick) Anderson

Lester Louis Burton, a devoted family man and outdoors
enthusiast, passed away on October 23, 2024, at the age of 84. Born on
September 19, 1940. Lester shared 65 years of marriage with Verlee Brin, whom
he wed on September 19, 1959. To this union six children were born; Alice Brown
(Kevin Brown), Leslie Burton (Debra Billinger), Michelle Burton, Brenda
Castelli (deceased) (Kevin Tremblay) (Jim Castelli), Dennis Burton (Jeanice
Bloom), and Kindra Burton.

Lester's family grew to include numerous grandchildren and
great-grandchildren: Emily Brown, Michael Brown, Keith Brown, Andrew Brown,
Garrett Brown, Brandon Burton, Miranda Drouillard, Brooke Burton, LaToyia
Burton, Kenda Barker, Kylee Wiegand, Kody Tremblay, Kirsten Tremblay, Adrian
Castelli, Emma Castelli, Crystal Duchesneau, Brittany Forseth, Chase Burton,
and 33 great-grandchildren.

Lester's professional life was dedicated to floor
coverings, while his personal life revolved around hunting, camping, fishing,
and family. His love, laughter, and legacy will endure through his family, who
surrounded him in his final moments. Lester will be deeply missed as a husband,
father, brother, uncle, and beloved Papa.

Viewing will be held Sunday, Oct. 27 from 5-8 pm with a
rosary at 7pm at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N 8th
St, Salina, KS. Funeral Mass will be held Monday, Oct 28 at 11 am at St. Joseph
Parish, 107 Oak St, Damar, KS. Burial will be at the Saint Joseph Cemetery in
Damar following Mass. Luncheon will be served at the Knights of Columbus Hall
in Damar following the burial. A Memorial will go to the Town Hall Renovation
Project in Damar.

Paul Leroy Lowry, age 94,
passed away on October 25, 2024, at his home in Palco, KS. He was born on
December 14, 1929, in Webster, KS to Roy and Goldie (Bray) Lowry. He married
Ann Post on February 23, 1951, in Logan, KS. They were blessed with 7 children:
Don, Pat, Kristie, John, Ginger, Angela, and Carol.

Paul graduated from Webster
High School in 1947. A lifelong farmer, Paul dedicated his life to nurturing
the land and providing for his family. His commitment to farming was matched
only by his love for pitching horseshoes, a sport he passionately pursued for
45 years. Paul was a proud competitor in the National Horseshoe Association,
participating in 13 world tournaments and bringing home numerous first-place
trophies. He delighted in sharing stories of his victories, always eager to
recount his experiences to anyone willing to listen. He recently donated his
trophies and newspaper clippings to the Rooks County Museum in Stockton where
they serve as a testament to his achievements. 

A beloved friend and neighbor,
Paul enjoyed playing cards in Palco, and when his dear friend Judy called to
say they were playing, he was always quick to grab his keys and head out in his
pickup. 

Paul’s family was his pride
and joy. He leaves behind his children, Don (Anita) Lowry of Hays, KS, Pat
(Mike) Rudman of Palco, Kristie (Roy) Williams of Plainville, KS, John (Kelly)
Lowry of Plainville, Angela Berens of Plainville, and Carol Coates of Hays, KS;
sister, Linda (Corky) Hagan of Stockton, KS; 16 grandchildren, 32

He is preceded in death by his

Kori Bigge, 49, Stockton, Kansas, was born August 2, 1975,
in Colorado Springs, Colorado to Tim and Marlyn Karstetter. Kori passed away
October 16, 2024, at St. Luke's Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri after a brief
illness.

She grew up in McPherson, Kansas and graduated from
McPherson High School in 1993. Kori attended Pittsburg State University and
graduated with a minor in psychology in 1997 and a master’s degree in
psychology in 1999. After graduation Kori moved to Hays, Kansas to work for the
High Plains Mental Health Center. She also worked for Westside Alternative
School. While she was in court representing children from Westside School, she
met her future husband, Doug Bigge. They were married June 14, 2003, in
McPherson. To this union two children were born, Kourtney Danica and Dena Kail.

In 2008, after the death of Dena, Kori suffered a massive
heart attack which eventually led to a heart transplant at the University of
Utah Hospital in 2013. Although suffering from three strokes between 2008 and
2013, Kori still lived her life. Kori was no longer able to work, but she was
able to navigate around Plainville and Stockton in her trusty golf cart, often
seen with her companion dogs as passengers. Kori truly made lemonade out of
lemons. She enjoyed her women's groups and took up sewing and quilting. She took
her quilts to the Rooks County Free Fair. Kori enjoyed watching Kourtney grow
up and show her different animals at the fair. Also, Kori began listening to
audio books. In 2023 she listened to an average of one and a half books a day. Kori
and her family are eternally grateful to the University of Utah Heart
Transplant team for giving Kori another 16 years of life.

She was preceded in death by her daughter Dena Bigge and
father-in-law Tom Bigge. Kori is survived by her husband Doug Bigge; daughter
Kourtney Bigge; parents Tim and Marlyn Karstetter; sisters Kim Woyski (Ryan)
and Kristi Hatfield (Tad); brother Matt Karstetter; mother-in-law Ruth Ann

Kori Bigge

Melvin Leroy Musil, age 86, passed away Wednesday, October 23, 2024, at Citizens Medical Center in Colby, KS.

Melvin Leroy Musil was born in a boxcar in Ruleton, Kansas, on October 20th ,1938. He was the second of five boys born to Leonard and Elsie (Hale) Musil. Melvin attended school in Edson and loved playing six-man football for the Edson Rockets. His stories always entailed his personal highlights from each game.

Melvin met Dorothy Ramsey, just a girl from Fayette, Iowa, through a mutual friend. After two months of exchanging letters, Melvin married Dorothy on October 18, 1964. To this union, Melvin and Dorothy had four children: Tina,&nbsp; Anita, Melvin Jr., and Shaun.&nbsp;Melvin was a farmer from beginning to end. At his peak, Melvin farmed 1,000 acres of his own land and rented another 1,000 acres. After his farming career ended, he also worked for the Kansas Department of Transportation and was a local farm-hand for Ralph Duell. Farming was still in his blood and transformed the Edson football field into his own 100-yard garden planted full of potatoes and sweet corn. It was an absolute joy for Melvin Sr. to sell his garden crops at the local farmers markets in Goodland, Colby, and even Hays.

In his free time, Melvin Sr. loved games, games, and games. Back in the day, he bowled several nights a week and traveled often to state and national bowling tournaments. More recently, Melvin Sr. was known as a card shark and would play any game available at the Senior Center. He also taught all his grandkids to play marbles and never let them win. Melvin had a passion for sports which was contagious to his kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids. He loved to watch the Denver Broncos, KU&nbsp;basketball, Husker football, Yankees and anything his grandkids participated in.

Melvin is preceded in death by his parents, three brothers (Lester, Marlin and Denny), three sister-in-laws (Yvonne, Kate, and Rebecca), his wife, Dorothy, his daughter-in-law (Kelly), and granddaughter (Kayla).&nbsp;

Melvin is survived by his four children, Tina (Bruce) Hansen of Colby, KS; Anita (Stacy) Owens of Edson, KS; Melvin Jr. (Heather) of Wichita, KS; Shaun (Heather) Musil of Hays, KS; 11 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Delmer Henry Thibault, former
resident of Hutchinson, Kansas passed away on October 19, 2024 at Locust Grove
Village in Lacrosse, KS at the age of 89. He was born July 15, 1935, in Graham
County Kansas to Leo and Lola (Benoit) Thibault, the oldest of twelve siblings.
Delmer began his life in Bogue and Damar, KS until the dust bowl, the drought
and hopes of a better job moved his family to California in August of 1943 in
the midst of WWII. The Thibaults spent the next few years in California until
they moved back to Osborne, Kansas to farm in 1946.

Delmer graduated from Osborne
High School on May 21st, 1953. He and his cousin Jed Simoneau decided that the
military was the best pursuit. Delmer enlisted in the Army on July 28th, 1955,
and was a mechanic in the Army’s 2nd Howitzer Battalion in the 6th Artillery
Regiment and received numerous decorations for his service. He was honorably
discharged on June 30th, 1963.

Returning from the Army, Delmer
and friends Marvin Reynolds and Don Forgue worked for contractors to build the
Wilson Lake dam and other dams in Kansas. After doing this for a couple years,
they decided to enroll at Fort Hays State University where Delmer pursued a
degree in psychology with help from the GI Bill and by working as an orderly
and operating room technician at Hadley Medical Center in Hays, Kansas.

In 1965 Delmer met Patricia
Schuckman at Fort Hays State University then marrying on September 10th, 1966,
at St Joseph Catholic Church in Hays, Kansas. They lived in Wooster Place, then
Agnew Hall and McMindes Hall as resident managers. After Delmer completed his
undergraduate degree in psychology, then his master’s degree in counseling
August 1968, he started working at High Plains Mental Health in Hays, KS. They
moved to Ellis, Kansas in 1973 where they welcomed their only child Paul in
1976 and later separated.

Delmer spent many of his years
in Hutchinson, Kansas where he set roots and worked as a psychologist at
Horizons Mental Health Center. He was very dedicated to his profession and
enjoyed helping his clients. He looked forward to summer vacations with his son
Paul biking, hiking and exploring in Missouri and Arkansas. They played tennis
on most summer nights, and had countless weekend trips to Cheney Lake near
Wichita, KS to go sailboating.&nbsp;

Delmer met Marilyn Marie Clarke
Sherman in May of 2010 at the Elmdale Senior Center in Hutchinson, KS where
they danced and visited with friends. Delmer and Marilyn were engaged on
September 29th, 2010. They enjoyed vacationing during their time together and
attending an annual trip to Branson to meet his Army Battalion friends. They
both retired from their careers together in 2011 and have been together ever
since.&nbsp;

Delmer was a devoted father. He
was kindhearted, well read, very hard-working and industrious. He had a great
sense of humor and an ornery streak that got him into trouble a time or two. He
loved spending his free time sailing, biking, tinkering, working on old
tractors, going to threshing festivals, listening to French Cajun and classical
music, and playing cards. Going to auctions was his favorite past time. Delmer
will be greatly missed by all that knew him.

Delmer is survived by son Paul
Thibault (Jennifer), grandchildren Miles and Martin Thibault, significant other
Marilyn Sherman and siblings Leola Crittendon, Albuquerque, NM, Sister Carmella

Delmer Henry Thibault

LeRock
(LeRoch) Joseph Brin, 91, of Salina, Kansas, passed away peacefully in his
sleep on Wednesday, October 16, 2024, at Brookdale Senior Living Home. He was
born October 13, 1933, in Damar, Kansas, the son of Adrian and Emma (Lanoue)
Brin.

LeRock
graduated from Damar High School in 1952. During his high school years, he
played baseball, loved dancing and enjoyed driving his hot rods. As a teenager,
he bought his very first Model T for $25 that he drove 131 miles with his
grandmother, from Aurora, Kansas to Damar.

After
graduating from high school, he married Germaine Thyfault on June 12, 1952.
They were married for 24 years in which they loved to go out dancing with their
friends. LeRock was a jack of all trades, he was the first owner/operator of
the filling station located on highway 18 at Damar. He also owned heavy dirt
moving equipment and was a soil conservation contractor, spending countless hours
building terraces and water ways throughout Rooks and Graham counties. LeRock
was a member of the Knights of Columbus.

LeRock
and his family moved to Salina, KS, in 1969, where he started a remodeling and
drywall business. Later in life, he purchased and drove his own semi-truck for
Stress Cast of Salina. 

He
was married to Beverly Mauk and later in life he had a long relationship with
June Rotach. In his final years he enjoyed working in his welding shop where he
made all kinds of unique gadgets, planting a large garden, and hanging out with
his best buddy, Spike (the dog.)

Survivors
include his four children: Jerry Lee (Tillie) Brin of Wichita, Randall Joseph
(JaNae) Brin, Janelle Marie (Mike) Hull, and Mark Alan (Darla) Brin all of
Salina. LeRock was preceded in death by his son, Thomas Louis Brin in 2007. 

LeRock
is also survived by his siblings: Connie Desbien of Palco, Verlee Burton of
Salina, Carrol Brin, Adrienne Cargile, and Mallone Normandin all of Hays. He is
preceded in death by a brother, Dennis Brin.

LeRock
is the beloved Pepe to fifteen grandkids and the beloved Great Pepe to twenty great
grandchildren (with one on the way!) 

Services
are scheduled for 10:00am on Saturday, November 2nd at St. Joseph
Catholic Church, Damar; followed by burial at the church cemetery.

Roberta Josephine 'Tinker' Jacobs, 89, of
Aurora, Colo., passed away on March 28, 2024. She was born July 23, 1934 to
Simon and Ida Jacobs, in Hays, one of six children.

A 1952 graduate
from Hays High School, Tinker helped blaze a trail for women while becoming a
renowned biochemist after earning a B.A. degree at the Fort Hays Kansas State
College (now FHSU) in 1956 with a major in biology and minor in zoology.

She spent her career researching immunology possibilities with a focus on finding ways to
improve treatments for arthritis and lupus, among other health issues. While
working at the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation in the 1980s, at least
three of her research papers were published in the Journal of Immunological
Methods. She retired from her career as a research scientist from the&nbsp;University
of Colorado Health Science Center in Denver.

Throughout
her career, she continued to teach and learn while earning multiple post-graduate degrees. Beginning at the University
of Buffalo with an M. Med in medicine (1962), continuing at the University of
Kansas with an M. Arts in biology (1966), and concluding at the State
University of New York-Buffalo with a Ph.D. in biochemistry (1980), Tinker was
focused on helping others.

When
not studying or working, Tinker spent time hiking and cycling, honing her
photography skills, and caring for a collection of pets, including her beloved
‘Little Guy’ after retiring in the Denver area. While living in Oklahoma City,
Okla., she became a handywoman as she worked through the process of fixing
problems and making improvements as a homeowner.

She
is survived by her sister, Stephanie Schumacher (Leon) of Hays, four nephews,
seven nieces, and 12 great-nephews and great-nieces. She was preceded in death
by her parents, Simon and Ida (Linenberger) Jacobs, brothers David Jacobs,
Leroy Jacobs and Norman Jacobs, sister Verna Lou (Jacobs) LaBan, and two nieces,
Robin LaBan White and Stacey Schumacher Badger.

A
memorial service will take place at 11:00 am on October 26, 2024 in the St.

Lillian Pfeifer, beloved mother, aunt, and friend, passed away
peacefully at her home on October 19, 2024, surrounded by her loved ones and
caregivers. Born on March 26, 1931, in Hays, Kansas, Lillian was a shining
light in the lives of those fortunate enough to know her.

Throughout life, Lillian exemplified what it meant to have a
giving heart. As a dedicated NICU nurse, she devoted herself to caring for
newborns, always bringing a sense of comfort to anxious parents with her
unwavering compassion and gentle spirit. Her nurturing nature extended beyond
her profession; whether tending to the needs of her family or finding ways to
support her community, she was known as someone who put others before herself.

A proud graduate of Hays High School, Lillian pursued her calling
in nursing by receiving her nursing certificate, and after a lifelong career
retired from St. Mary’s Hospital in Reno, Nevada. Her commitment to her
patients and profession was matched only by her love for her family. Lillian
radiated warmth and joy; her pleasant demeanor and ever-present smile brought
peace to those around her, creating an inclusive atmosphere filled with love.

Lillian's passion for life was manifested in countless ways. A
lover of animals and an enthusiastic snack enthusiast, she often indulged in
cookies at any given opportunity. Her zest for life was particularly evident
through her deep love for her family. She cherished precious moments spent with
her son, Larry (Brenda Werth) Pfeifer, and delighted in the company of numerous
nieces, nephews, and extended family members. Each interaction was a testament
to the bonds she cultivated, marked by laughter and shared memories.

Lillian was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Alfred
Lawrence Pfeifer, whose memory she carried in her heart, together with her
sons: Gerald (Larry’s twin brother) and Thomas. She also leaves behind the
cherished memories of her brothers and spouses, Ralph (Delores) Hoffman and
James (Vera) Hoffman. Their spirits will forever remain intertwined with hers,
a beautiful reminder of the joy they shared during their time together.

The community is invited to celebrate Lillian's remarkable life
during a Mass held at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Hays, Kansas, on October
28, 2024, at 12:00 PM. Inurnment will follow the services in the parish
cemetery.

In a world often in need of kindness and compassion, Lillian
Pfeifer stood out as a beacon of hope, guiding those around her with love and
selflessness. Her legacy will continue to touch lives, shining brightly in the
