Ernest V. Pfeifer, Sr., age 87, of Ellis, Kansas passed away peacefully July 4, 2025, at the Ellis Good Samaritan Society, Ellis, Kansas.

He was born in Hays, Kansas on September 24, 1937, to Ben and Martina (Fross) Pfeifer. Ernest graduated from St. Joseph Military Academy in 1957 and married Rosemary (Engel) Pfeifer on September 28, 1957. Ernest was a lifelong farmer and rancher raising his family on a farm north of Ellis, Kansas and was active in the community serving on numerous boards.

Ernest is survived by his wife, Rosemary, of the home and his six children, sons, Ernie Jr. Pfeifer (Sherry), David Pfeifer (LuAnn), Jerry Pfeifer (Nancy), and Jim Pfeifer (Linda) all of Ellis, Kansas and daughters, Christine Gist (Mike), Hays, Kansas and Sandy Rome (James), Ellis, Kansas. Twelve grandchildren, Ernest Pfeifer III (Ann), Lynn Leiker (Landon), Jessica Klaus (Joe), Sarah Gist, Danielle Flinn (Todd), Dylan Pfeifer, (friend, Brandi), Nicole Brown (Mitch), Scott Pfeifer (fiancé, Hailey), Cole Pfeifer (Lanie), Lexie Hawkins (Avery), Derek Pfeifer (Brooklyn), and Alyssa Rome; sixteen great-grandchildren; and siblings, Kenneth Pfeifer, Hays, Kansas and Mary Ann Senesac, Haysville, Kansas.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Ben and Martina Pfeifer, his brother, Richard and brother-in-law, Eldo Senesac.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday July 9th, 2025, at 10:30 am at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 703 Monroe St., Ellis, Kansas. The family will receive friends from 8:30 to 10:00 am at St. Mary's Catholic Church. A rosary will be said at 10:00 am. Inurnment will follow in the St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery.
