Anita M. (Bedore) Thyfault, age 89, of Hays, Kansas died Monday, July 25, 2022, at Via Christi Village Care Center, Hays, Kansas.

She was born August 4, 1932, in Zurich, Kansas, to Henry and Victoria (Martel) Bedore. &nbsp;She married Kenneth D. Thyfault on July 17, 1950,&nbsp;at&nbsp;Zurich,&nbsp;Kansas. &nbsp;He preceded her in death on April&nbsp;16, 2003.

She was homemaker, a farmer’s wife, and worked at Travenol for a few years. &nbsp;She grew up and attended school in Zurich, and moved to Hays in 1970. &nbsp;Anita was a member of St. Nicholas of Myra Catholic Church. &nbsp;She enjoyed playing cards, bingo, her bowling&nbsp;league, and on the farm her large garden. &nbsp;She was a loving mother, enjoyed her family, and grandchildren.

Survivors include her children, Terry Thyfault, Topeka, KS; Vickie Thyfault, Hays, KS; Cindy Hart and husband, Alan, Loveland, CO; Sandy Thyfault,&nbsp;Phoenix, AZ; Pam Groff, Hays, KS; Jim Thyfault and wife, Brenda, Fredrick, CO; 14 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild. &nbsp;

Anita was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her brother, Omer; and her sisters, Alma, Lean, Agnes, Georgie, Janette and Rose.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 A.M. Friday, July 29, 2022, at Saint Nicholas of Myra Catholic Church, 2901 East 13th&nbsp;Street, Hays, Kansas with Father Damian Richards officiating. &nbsp;Burial will be in Saint Joseph Cemetery, Hays, Kansas.

A vigil service and rosary will be at 7:00 P.M. Thursday,&nbsp;at Cline’s-Keithley Mortuary of Hays, 1919 East 22nd Street, Hays, Kansas 67601.

Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Thursday, at Cline’s-Keithley Mortuary of Hays, and from 9:00 to&nbsp;10:00 Friday, at&nbsp;Saint Nicholas of Myra Catholic Church.

Ellen DeAnne Bulinski, 69, died on Sunday, July 24, 2022, at Lane County 
Hospital in Dighton. She was born on January 16, 1953, at Scott City, the
 daughter of Earl Deverne &amp; Elizabeth Anne (DeLong) McKenna. She 
married William T. Bulinski on June 15, 1985, at Sharon Springs. 
DeAnne attended Dighton schools and graduated from Sharon Springs High 
School. She attended Colby Community College. In 1982, she moved back 
to Dighton and worked at several places including cleaning houses, doing
 propane sales for Midwest Energy, a custodian at Lane County Court 
House, a census taker and retired as Assistant Register of Deeds. She 
was a member of the United Methodist Church of Dighton. She enjoyed her
 gnomes and mushroom collections, cooking, growing plants, her water 
garden, traveling and most of all her family activities. 
She is survived by her Husband- Bill Bulinski, 4 Children- Stanley 
Bulinski of Dighton, Sean Bulinski of Emporia, Amy Piedra of Dighton and
 Jaime Ortiz of Ashland, 2 Brothers- William Colin McKenna of Holiday, 
Tennessee and Kevin Paul McKenna of Watonga, Oklahoma, 2 Sisters- 
Melanie Sue Baalman of Dighton and Maureen Elene Knox of Hugoton, 17 
Grandchildren and 1 Great-Grandson. She is preceded in death by her 
Parents and Daughter- Suzanne Anderson.

William "Bill" White Jr., 83, passed away on July 24, 2022 at his home
 in Ness City, Kansas.&nbsp; He was born on January 9, 1939 in Scott County, 
Kansas, the son of William and Josephine (Jones) White.

Bill was a truck driver for many years. His life was centered around 
family and his hobbies. His hobbies were reading, fishing, limestone 
crafts, gardening, and creating yard décor and other knickknacks. He 
married Barbara Tittle on July 10, 1975, in Bazine, Kansas.&nbsp;

Survivors include wife, Barbara White; children Curtis White (Kristi)
 of Red Oak, IA, Terry White (Linda) of Dodge City, KS, Carolyn Custer 
(John) of Helenville, WI, Jeffrey White (Lacy) of Kansas City, KS, 
Stephanie Pfannenstiel (Aaron) of Lawrence, KS; 13 grandchildren; and 18
 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson,
 Timothy White; and siblings, George, James, John, Midge, Martha, Mary 
Jo, and Jessie Lee.

Funeral service will be on Friday, July 29, 2022, 10:30 a.m., at

William 'Bill' White Jr.

Thomas A. Nulton, 93, died July 23, 2022 at Locust Grove Village in 
La Crosse, Kan. He was born January 7, 1929, at Hays, Kan., the son of 
Charles and Ruby (Bourdette) Nulton.&nbsp; He married Phyllis Wikoff October 
21, 1951, in Hays. She passed away March 23, 2012.&nbsp; Mr. Nulton worked 
for Producers Gas Equities Inc. of Hays and was promoted in 1967 as the 
area superintendent of the Susank division which later became a part of 
MidWest Energy.&nbsp; Tom retired from MidWest Energy in 1994 and dedicated 
himself to pursuing his lifelong love of art.&nbsp; He was a Hoisington 
resident from 1967 until his death.

While he was a talented artist in numerous media, his passion 
became wood carving, and he created many exceptional pieces until his 
health forced him to stop. Tom loved the outdoors, wildlife and bird 
watching, hunting, fishing, and camping.&nbsp; He loved telling stories and 
had many friends who never failed to listen. Mr. Nulton was a member of 
First United Methodist Church, Hoisington.

Survivors include his sons, Rick Nulton and his wife Darlene, 
Hoisington; and Mike Nulton and his wife Susie, Fort Garland, Col.; two 
sisters, Norma Thoman and her husband Dean, Colorado Springs, Col., and 
Audrey LaRue of Hays; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and 
four great-great-grandchildren.&nbsp; He was preceded in death by his 
parents, his wife Phyllis of 60 years, two brothers, and three sisters.

Memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m., Monday, August 1, 2022, 
at First United Methodist Church, Hoisington, with The Rev. Daniel 
Vandenburg and the Honorable Ron Bailey presiding. There will be no 
visitation as cremation has taken place.&nbsp; Inurnment will be at a later 
date at Ft. Hays Memorial Gardens, Hays.&nbsp;

Irene Catherin Mattas

Duane Sack, 85, passed away on July 23, 2022, at Medicalodges of 
Great Bend, Great Bend, Kan. He was born on October 19, 1936, in Virgil,
 Kan., to Leroy &amp; Florence (Owens) Sack. Duane married Donis 
Lindquist and they later divorced. He later married Betty (Drake) Miller
 on October 10, 1983, in Great Bend. She died on May 28, 2022.

A Great Bend resident since 1982 coming from Bunker Hill, Duane 
worked as a pumper for Shields Oil. He was a member of the Prince of 
Peace Parish and a 50 year member Masonic Lodge in Russell, and was an 
avid golfer.

Survivors include one son, David (Laina) Sack of Phoenix, Ariz.; 
three stepchildren, Robert Miller of Shawnee, Kan., Cathy Peacock of Las
 Vegas, Nev., and Pam Finley of Great Bend, Kan.; nine grandchildren; 
fifteen great-grandchildren; and one sister, Gail Williams of Russell, 
Kan. He was preceded in death by his wife; a daughter, Debbie Sack; and a
 grandson, Wesley Turnball.

Visitation will take place on Thursday, July 28, 2022, from noon to 
8:00 p.m. at Bryant Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10:30
 a.m. on Friday, July 29, 2022, at Bryant Funeral Home with Father 
Aneesh Parappanattu presiding. Interment will follow at Great Bend 
Cemetery.

Duane Sack

Mary Doris (Zimmerman) Reitcheck, 84, passed away Thursday, July 21, 
2022, at her daughter’s home in rural Smith County, Kansas. She was born
 October 10, 1937, in a sod house in rural Sheridan County, Kansas, to 
Peter D. and Mary Edna (Slaven) Zimmerman. She graduated from Selden 
High School with the Class of 1955. On October 26, 1961, she married 
Leroy Blaise Reitcheck at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Selden, 
Kansas.
 Mary lived her entire life in Sheridan County Kansas. She was a 
lifelong devout member of St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church and St. 
Frances Altar Society. She was also involved in her community through 
Hoxie Rotary, National Association of Retired Federal Employees (NARFE) 
and the Red Hats. 
 In her younger years, she worked as a telephone operator and for the
 Sheridan County Extension Service. In 1960 she began her career at the
 Sheridan County Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation 
Service/Farm Service Agency where she remained for 36 years. During her
 tenure at ASCS/FSA she became the County Executive Director in 1981. 
She was one of the first women in the state to have this title. She 
retired in November 1996. She enjoyed her mission serving the farmers 
of Sheridan County. Not one to sit still, she went on to work at The 
Country Cottage, Mahanna Pharmacy, St. Frances Catholic Church and 
Woofter Pump and Well. She finally decided at age 78 it was time to 
give up working the 9-to-5 gig. 
 In her spare time, Mary kept herself occupied by helping her husband
 Leroy on the farm, milking cows, preparing the fields, bringing in the 
crops and whatever else needed done on the farm. She continued 
assisting her son Leroy Jr. with farm work after the death of her 
husband. In addition, she filled her time through the years raising and
 harvesting a large garden which helped feed her family. Mary was also 
known for her cooking skills. She was the queen of gravy-making. Pies 
were always ready just in time for company, in addition to homemade 
candy and tea-time tassies, among other goodies. That is, unless one of 
her children found her stash ahead of time. She also kept her children 
busy at Christmastime delivering warm homemade caramel rolls to 
neighbors. 
 Mary could accomplish more in a 24-hour day than most could begin to
 think of. Her hands were never at rest. You could hear the hum of 
her sewing machine in the wee morning hours, working on matching dresses
 for her daughters that would be finished just in time for the coming 
holiday.
 Mary was a loving, caring person to those she came in contact with. 
 She always warmed your heart with a smile, even to the very end. Even 
though Mary worked at many tasks, her greatest accomplishment is the 
priceless legacy of the importance of faith and family. Her life 
revolved around both. They are what she lived and breathed for. Her 
faith was simple, she just believed. She led a life of sacrifice, 
serving her family and others. Mary lived and taught by example in 
everything she did. When her health began to fail, she always managed 
to find the strength for conversation with those around her, or to take 
several phone calls from her children in a single evening. Even though 
her mind was not always clear she never forgot her Lord, even to the end
 with prayers on her lips and a rosary in her hand surrounded by her 
family as she slipped away to her heavenly home.
 Mary is survived by her children Leroy Reitcheck Jr. and wife Julie 
of Hoxie, Kansas; daughters, Annette Wingerson and husband Steve of 
Smith Center, Kansas, Kayleen Sparks and husband Bryan of Papillion, 
Nebraska, Kimberly Schaffer and husband Troy of Wichita, Kansas, Jayne 
Turner and fiancé Craig Rose of Olathe, Kansas; 12 grandchildren, 
Katelyn Reitcheck, Alexis Wright and husband Lance, Landon Wingerson, 
Sienna Wingerson, Jordan Sparks, Ian Sparks, Devin Sparks, Carter 
Schaffer, Jaxon Schaffer, Braxton Schaffer, Mia Turner, Nash Turner; 
great grandchildren Joseph Lance Wright, Jeremiah Wright, Laramie 
Wright, Laynie Wright; brother, David Zimmerman; sisters, Linda Brown 
and husband Bill of Kansas City, Kansas and Betty Scripsick and husband 
Ron of Pittsburgh, Kansas; brother-in-law Gary Reitcheck and wife Sandy;
 sisters-in-law Anna Rose Givens, Margaret Ritter, Delores Koerperich 
and a host of nieces and nephews.
 She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Leroy; son Steven;
 grandson Ashton Turner; brothers Donald Zimmerman, Ronald Zimmerman; 
sisters Edna Whitehair and Diane Zimmerman, and many friends and 
relatives.&nbsp;

 </figure>Mary Doris (Zimmerman) Reitcheck, 84, passed away Thursday, July 21, 
2022, at her daughter’s home in rural Smith County, Kansas. She was born
 October 10, 1937, in a sod house in rural Sheridan County, Kansas, to 
Peter D. and Mary Edna (Slaven) Zimmerman. She graduated from Selden 
High School with the Class of 1955. On October 26, 1961, she married 
Leroy Blaise Reitcheck at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Selden, 
Kansas.
 Mary lived her entire life in Sheridan County Kansas. She was a 
lifelong devout member of St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church and St. 
Frances Altar Society. She was also involved in her community through 
Hoxie Rotary, National Association of Retired Federal Employees (NARFE) 
and the Red Hats. 
 In her younger years, she worked as a telephone operator and for the
 Sheridan County Extension Service. In 1960 she began her career at the
 Sheridan County Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation 
Service/Farm Service Agency where she remained for 36 years. During her
 tenure at ASCS/FSA she became the County Executive Director in 1981. 
She was one of the first women in the state to have this title. She 
retired in November 1996. She enjoyed her mission serving the farmers 
of Sheridan County. Not one to sit still, she went on to work at The 
Country Cottage, Mahanna Pharmacy, St. Frances Catholic Church and 
Woofter Pump and Well. She finally decided at age 78 it was time to 
give up working the 9-to-5 gig. 
 In her spare time, Mary kept herself occupied by helping her husband
 Leroy on the farm, milking cows, preparing the fields, bringing in the 
crops and whatever else needed done on the farm. She continued 
assisting her son Leroy Jr. with farm work after the death of her 
husband. In addition, she filled her time through the years raising and
 harvesting a large garden which helped feed her family. Mary was also 
known for her cooking skills. She was the queen of gravy-making. Pies 
were always ready just in time for company, in addition to homemade 
candy and tea-time tassies, among other goodies. That is, unless one of 
her children found her stash ahead of time. She also kept her children 
busy at Christmastime delivering warm homemade caramel rolls to 
neighbors. 
 Mary could accomplish more in a 24-hour day than most could begin to
 think of. Her hands were never at rest. You could hear the hum of 
her sewing machine in the wee morning hours, working on matching dresses
 for her daughters that would be finished just in time for the coming 
holiday.
 Mary was a loving, caring person to those she came in contact with. 
 She always warmed your heart with a smile, even to the very end. Even 
though Mary worked at many tasks, her greatest accomplishment is the 
priceless legacy of the importance of faith and family. Her life 
revolved around both. They are what she lived and breathed for. Her 
faith was simple, she just believed. She led a life of sacrifice, 
serving her family and others. Mary lived and taught by example in 
everything she did. When her health began to fail, she always managed 
to find the strength for conversation with those around her, or to take 
several phone calls from her children in a single evening. Even though 
her mind was not always clear she never forgot her Lord, even to the end
 with prayers on her lips and a rosary in her hand surrounded by her 
family as she slipped away to her heavenly home.
 Mary is survived by her children Leroy Reitcheck Jr. and wife Julie 
of Hoxie, Kansas; daughters, Annette Wingerson and husband Steve of 
Smith Center, Kansas, Kayleen Sparks and husband Bryan of Papillion, 
Nebraska, Kimberly Schaffer and husband Troy of Wichita, Kansas, Jayne 
Turner and fiancé Craig Rose of Olathe, Kansas; 12 grandchildren, 
Katelyn Reitcheck, Alexis Wright and husband Lance, Landon Wingerson, 
Sienna Wingerson, Jordan Sparks, Ian Sparks, Devin Sparks, Carter 
Schaffer, Jaxon Schaffer, Braxton Schaffer, Mia Turner, Nash Turner; 
great grandchildren Joseph Lance Wright, Jeremiah Wright, Laramie 
Wright, Laynie Wright; brother, David Zimmerman; sisters, Linda Brown 
and husband Bill of Kansas City, Kansas and Betty Scripsick and husband 
Ron of Pittsburgh, Kansas; brother-in-law Gary Reitcheck and wife Sandy;
 sisters-in-law Anna Rose Givens, Margaret Ritter, Delores Koerperich 
and a host of nieces and nephews.
 She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Leroy; son Steven;
 grandson Ashton Turner; brothers Donald Zimmerman, Ronald Zimmerman; 
sisters Edna Whitehair and Diane Zimmerman, and many friends and

Robert Joseph "Bob" Ross

Carolyn Kirgis Johnson passed away July 24, 2022, at the Phillips 
County Hospital after suffering for decades with Multiple Sclerosis.&nbsp; 
She was born August 8, 1960, in Beloit, KS, the daughter of Robert &amp; 
Doris (Aronis) Kirgis.

She grew up on the farm in Mitchell County.&nbsp; She preferred being 
inside cooking while her two older sisters, Connie &amp; Catherine 
worked outside with their parents.&nbsp; She graduated from Beloit High 
School where she enjoyed being a part of all the musical activities; 
band, vocal &amp; school musicals were just a part of her busy 
schedule.&nbsp; She was a head cheerleader for the state winning Trojans 
&amp; was honored to wear the homecoming crown.

She continued her education at Colby Community College, then 
transferred to Kansas State University where she received her BA.&nbsp; She 
then selected the Salina Vocational Technical School to become a dental 
assistant for Dr. Jerry Lundgren DDS.&nbsp; She was proud to say that her 
entire college years were financed through her participation in the Miss
 America franchise system.&nbsp; She held many titles &amp; made many 
lifelong friends all over the 50 states.

In July 1985, she became Miss Kansas &amp; represented her state in 
Atlantic City, NJ.&nbsp; Her road to Miss America was aided by so many 
wonderful people that coached &amp; encouraged the Hog Farmer’s Daughter
 to Stand Proud &amp; Sing Loud!&nbsp; As her family mourns her passing their
 hearts are warmed by the outpouring of Love coming in from all 
directions.

In October of 1987, Carolyn was united in marriage to Perry Dale 
Johnson at the Salemsborg Lutheran Church in Smolan, KS.&nbsp; The welcomed 
their son, Chaddlee Dale on November 10, 1990.&nbsp; He grew up playing 
baseball just like his dad.&nbsp; The marriage was saddened by the infant 
losses of Chander Kirgis Johnson &amp; Allison Kaylinn Johnson.&nbsp; It was 
during these difficult years that Carolyn Jo was diagnosed with Multiple
 Sclerosis.&nbsp; In the early stages she was able to sing at benefits &amp; 
work for the foundation, but her health deteriorated quickly &amp; at 
the time of her passing she had been in the Phillips County Retirement 
Center over 18 years.

Left to mourn her passing is her son, Chadd Johnson of Abliene, KS; 
her mother, Doris Kirgis of Beloit, KS; sisters, Connie &amp; Jerry Cox 
of Long Island, KS &amp; Catherine &amp; Clayton Cox of Norton, KS; 9 
nieces &amp; nephews &amp; 35 great nieces &amp; nephews.&nbsp; They will be 
joining her many caring friends across the state of Kansas!

Through this loss, we’ve learned that God understands our pain. He 
doesn’t always fix it; sometimes he just sits with us &amp; lets us lean
 on him while the grief comes.&nbsp; We cling to the promise to be made whole
 once again &amp; reunited with our loved ones in Heaven!

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, July 28, 2022, at 1:30 
p.m. in the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel, Phillipsburg, with Pastor 
Becky Saddler officiating.&nbsp; The service will be streamed live on the 
Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel Facebook page.&nbsp; A graveside service will be
 held at 4:00 p.m. in the Elmwood Cemetery in Beloit.&nbsp;

N. Bryant Andrews Jr., 75, of McPherson, KS, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 23, 2022, at McPherson Health &amp; Rehab.&nbsp; He worked in the grain business and retail paint industry.

Bryant was born on August 5, 1946, in Hastings, NE, the son of Neil Bryant Andrews, Sr. and Donna Mae (Marymee) Andrews.&nbsp; He graduated high school from Hastings, NE in 1964 and attended the University of Nebraska.&nbsp; Bryant was united in marriage to Susan Holt on October 15, 1965, and this union was blessed with two sons, Todd and Tyson.&nbsp; On July 19, 1975, he married Jennifer Zuellner, and this union was blessed with three children, Selena, Kim, and Geoff.

Survivors include: four children, Todd Andrews (Kristy) of Las Vegas, NV, Selena Andrews (Ed Webb) of McPherson, KS, Kim Seib (Cody) of Hays, KS, and Geoff Andrews (Valerie) of Salina, KS; brothers, Stephen Andrews (Ann) of Montevideo, MN, Bradley Andrews of Waverly, NE, and Scott Andrews of Waverly, NE; aunt, Delores Eades of Wichita, KS; and seven grandchildren, Andrew Costello, Jonah Clarke, Elijah Clarke, Reid Andrews, Sutton Seib, Holdyn Seib, and Hudson Seib.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Tyson Andrews.

Barbara Ann Szweistis

Leon Earl Kuhn, 70, of Downs, Kansas, passed away peacefully Sunday, 
July 24, 2022, at his home.&nbsp;Leon was born January 4, 1952, to Remigius and
 Roberta Kuhn in Russell, Kansas. Leon grew up and&nbsp;attended school in 
Hays, Kansas.&nbsp;He served his country in the U.S. Army. Leon received his 
associate degree from Barton County&nbsp;Community College. He worked in the 
oilfield for more than 30 years. Leon enjoyed golfing, fishing 
and&nbsp;riding his Harley.

Leon’s surviving family include his wife Tonya (Cooley) of 33 years; 
Son Christopher (Bobbi) Kuhn,&nbsp;Buncombe, Illinois and daughter Jenifer 
(Cesar) Pelayo of Trona, California; Sister in Law Cyndi Kuhn,&nbsp;Gardner, 
Kansas, brothers Ron (Mary) Kuhn Ladera Ranch, California, Steve (Lynn) 
Kuhn, Pampa, Texas&nbsp;and Terry (Lisa) Kuhn, WaKeeney, Kansas; and four 
grandchildren Tiara, Aidan, Alyssia and Gavin.

Leon was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Bob Kuhn and Mike
 Kuhn, sisters Roberta Kuhn and&nbsp;Mary Ann Randa and grandson Abrham Kuhn.

A Celebration of Leon’s life will be Wednesday, July 27, 2022, at Zion
 Lutheran Church in Downs Kansas,&nbsp;10:30 am.&nbsp;Visitation will be Tuesday, 
July 26, 2022, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Zion Lutheran Church in 
Downs,&nbsp;Kansas.&nbsp;Interment to follow at Downs Cemetery.

July 24, 2022, at his home.&nbsp;Leon was born January 4, 1952, to Remigius and
 Roberta Kuhn in Russell, Kansas. Leon grew up and&nbsp;attended school in 
Hays, Kansas.&nbsp;He served his country in the U.S. Army. Leon received his 
associate degree from Barton County&nbsp;Community College. He worked in the 
oilfield for more than 30 years. Leon enjoyed golfing, fishing 
and&nbsp;riding his Harley.Leon’s surviving family include his wife Tonya (Cooley) of 33 years; 
Son Christopher (Bobbi) Kuhn,&nbsp;Buncombe, Illinois and daughter Jenifer

Myla Kathryn Dawes, 68, of Oakley, died Thursday, July 14, 2022, at Hays
 Medical Center, in Hays, KS. She was born August 14, 1953, in Oakley, 
KS, to Clyde and Naida (Blevins) Blair. 

Myla grew up in Oakley and 
graduated from Oakley High School in 1971. On June 24, 1972, Myla 
married Deveron Dawes and the couple made their home in Oakley, where 
they raised three daughters. Myla was a mother, housewife, and a 
caregiver. She cared for family and worked as a private caregiver until 
retiring at the age of 60.  She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary, St. 
Joseph Altar Society, American Veterans Motorcycle Club (AVMC) Sisters 
and a former member of the Tri-State Coalition of Concerned 
Motorcyclists. 

In their spare time, Myla and Dev enjoyed motorcycle 
trips, especially the trip in 2000 when they joined the Run for the Wall
 group and were able to tour Washington D.C, New England, and Canada. 
Above all, Myla loved being around her family and treasured the time 
spent together at their vacation house in Butte, NE. She had a good life
 and many good times with family and friends. 
Myla was preceded in death by her father Clyde; sister Lila Jones; son-in-law Dustin Criqui, Sr. and grandson Ben Chadwick. 
She is survived by her mother Naida; husband Deveron; daughters, Tami 
(Lonnie) Chadwick, Kamela (Michael) Friesen and Sarah (Josh) Rumback; 
siblings, Stanley (Theresa) Blair and Shirley (Rob) Burroughs; friend 
and brother Randy (Laurie) Weigel; sisters-in-law, Tammy Goldsworth and 
Susie (Rick) Rosborough and 10 grandchildren.

Myla Kathryn Dawes

Floyd Edward Dotts, age 87, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 
18, 2022, at his home surrounded by family. &nbsp;He was born February 19, 
1936, five miles north of Garden City, to John and Julia Dotts.

After high school, he served in the United States Army from July 1954
 through June 1956 and was stationed in Germany for a time. &nbsp;Floyd 
married Nancy Tucker and they celebrated their 56th anniversary this 
past January. Floyd and Nancy have been Montezuma residents for 53 of 
those years. He retired from the United Telephone Association in 1997.

Floyd is survived by his wife Nancy of Montezuma; two sons,&nbsp;J.D. and 
his wife Amber, grandkids Bailey, Katelyn and Kelsi of Rowlett, Texas 
and Wayne and his wife Mandi, grandkids Justice and Landri of Hays, 
Kansas; and daughter, Terri Nelson and grandkids Jordan and Jake of 
Coppell, Texas.&nbsp;

Graveside memorial service will be held at Fairview Cemetery, 
Montezuma on Saturday, July 23, 2022, at 10:00 AM. There will be no 
visitation as cremation has taken place.

Pearl Marie Harris, age 94, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 
22, 2022, at the Greeley County Long Term Care in Tribune, Kansas. She 
was born on June 27, 1928, in Parsons, Kansas, to Karl Phillip and Mary 
Crystal Coleman Koestel. She was a member of the community since 1948, 
moving from Parsons, Kansas. She was a homemaker, housewife, and avon 
representative for 35 years.

Pearl married Elmer Gail Harris on September 19, 1948, in Raton, New 
Mexico. Elmer passed away on March 7, 1998, in Tribune, Kansas.

Pearl was a member of the United Methodist Church in Tribune, Kansas.
 She was also a member of the Rebekah Lodge - South Colony Unit.

Survivors include; two sons - Kenneth Harris of Kinsley, Kansas, 
Randy Harris of Tribune, Kansas, one sister - Vera Dinkel of Las Vegas, 
Nevada, seven grandchildren - Kelly &amp; Gwynn Harris of Elbert,

Pearl Marie Harris

John Nicholas Kaus was born May 20, 1940, on the Kaus farm by Selden, KS
 to Nick Kaus and Mary (Kamphaus) Kaus. He passed away July 21, 2022, at
 his home in Seguin at the age of eighty-two. He graduated from the 
eighth grade while he was farming for his dad. He joined the Army on 
February 15, 1961 and served as a Specialist E4 at Fort Leonard Wood, 
Missouri for 2 years. 

When he returned home, he met and married Marilyn 
Joyce Ramsey on May 16, 1964, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in 
Colby, KS. The couple began their married life together on the Kaus farm 
where John continued farming and raising sheep, which he loved. To this 
union were born five children: John, Margaret, Juanita, Marvin, and 
Nicholas.
 John never met a stranger and treated everyone like a neighbor. 
Whether he was shearing sheep or attending a kid’s ballgame, he would 
strike up a conversation and make one walk away feeling like they had 
made a new friend. John sheared sheep in Kansas and Nebraska. The 
highlight of his life was helping to shear 4-H lambs for the county 
fairs across Kansas. John had a passion for his family. Some of the 
family’s best memories are fishing at Sheridan County Lake and Norton 
Lake and attending county fairs as John loved to see the livestock and 
ride the rides. John was a member of the Knights of Columbus, American 
Legion, the Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Selden and the Saint Martin 
of Tours Catholic Church of Seguin KS. He served on the Parish Council 
and Finance Council and was an Usher. In his early years, John regularly
 served as an Alter Boy. John was an avid supporter of the American Red 
Cross Blood drive with eighty-two units of blood donated.
 John was preceded in death by his parents, Mary and Nick; Sisters 
Melvina Carssow and Elanor Schiltz; and daughter- in- law JoLinn Kaus.
 He is survived by his wife, Marilyn of the home; children, John Kaus
 of Manhattan, KS, Margaret (Eric) Corby of Salina, KS, Juanita (Kenny) 
Erickson of Neodesha, KS, Marvin (Kerri) Kaus of Seguin, KS and Nick 
Kaus of Selden, KS; sisters, Eileen Neff of North Platte, NE, Joan 
Schwarz of Colby, KS and Kathleen Zerr of Colby, KS; seven Grandchildren

Gerald D. “Jerry” Matheson, 85, Hays, died Thursday, July 21, 2022, at his home.

He was born May 19, 1937, in Liberal, 
the son of Ted and Edith (Woodrum) Matheson.&nbsp; He was a graduate of 
Liberal High School and attended Fort Hays State University.&nbsp; On 
November 1, 1958, he was united in marriage to Betty Mae Davis in Hays, 
and they were married 57 years before she preceded him in death on 
January 16, 2016.&nbsp; Jerry worked for National Tank, Woody’s Furniture, 
and Northern National Enron.&nbsp; He was a member of Cornerstone Southern 
Baptist church and enjoyed walking at The Mall, radios, records, and 
collecting coins.&nbsp; Jerry was very friendly, possessed a great smile, and
 enjoyed visiting.

Survivors include his two daughters: 
Diana Jernigan and husband Monte of Goldthwaite, TX and Shari Merritt 
and husband Daniel of Hays, six grandchildren, and 21 great 
grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Betty, son Dean Matheson, and a granddaughter Amber (Matheson) Collins.

John Nicholas Kaus

Harold Verle Larson, 87, died July 19, 2022, at Country Place Senior 
Living, in Hoisington, Kansas.&nbsp; He was born November 15, 1934, in 
Humboldt, Kansas, to Hugo and Florence (Stark) Larson.&nbsp; Harold was the 
youngest of five children. &nbsp;He lived on a farm outside of Humboldt and 
then Chanute.&nbsp; He graduated from Vilas High School.&nbsp;

Harold met Wilma Tunnell at Colfax Church, a small country church 
outside of Chanute, KS.&nbsp; They were married on January 2, 1955.&nbsp; That 
summer, Harold and Wilma moved to Hoisington where Harold drove a truck 
for LD Niedens Trucking, a contractor for Kansas Brick and Tile.&nbsp; Harold
 would live the remainder of his life in Hoisington, where he and Wilma 
raised three children.

After hauling brick for Kansas Brick &amp; Tile, Harold started 
working at Kansas Brick &amp; Tile, where he become a supervisor in 
their shipping department.&nbsp; Although Harold enjoyed the brick plant, his
 good friend Dean Koelling and Dean’s son, Bill, offered him the 
opportunity to return to trucking.&nbsp; He took the H&amp;K Trucking 
position, which led to other trucking jobs, including stints with Graves
 Truck Line, and WSKT.&nbsp; He remained in trucking until his retirement in 
2000.&nbsp; During his trucking years, Harold met many life-long friends that
 have remained true, loyal and beloved to the day of his death.&nbsp;

Harold had numerous collections and hobbies.&nbsp; He collected barbed 
wire and competed in barbed wire splicing competitions.&nbsp; He was a rock 
hunter and collected rocks with his family all over Kansas, Oklahoma and
 Colorado.&nbsp; Harold collected cameras and old light fixtures and lamps.&nbsp; 
His light fixture collection morphed into his “Lights of Yesteryear” 
business, and for years, he and Wilma would buy old lights, restore 
them, and sell or give them away.&nbsp; 

Unknown to many people, Harold had an
 artistic flair.&nbsp; He painted signs, and even stamped and carved bricks 
into interesting, fun and beautiful works.&nbsp; Harold, along with Wilma, 
also collected and restored antiques.&nbsp; Harold always thought his best 
collection, however, was his many friends.&nbsp; Regardless of the many items
 he collected, he managed to collect even more wonderful, dear 
friends.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

Harold did not slow down when he retired.&nbsp; He and Wilma travelled to 
all 50 states, almost always by car.&nbsp; Their passion was to visit as many
 of the national parks as possible, and they had a blast on the road to 
achieving this.&nbsp; Harold loved bird watching with Wilma and they were 
supporters and frequent visitors of the Kansas Wetlands Education 
Center.&nbsp; Harold loved spending time at the Cheyenne Bottoms and visiting
 other refuges.&nbsp; Although he was a fan of the Kansas Jayhawks, he was 
known to be just as enthusiastic about the Cardinals, Wildcats, Shockers
 and Tigers.

Harold loved his nieces and nephews and felt so blessed to remain 
close to many of them throughout his life.&nbsp; He enjoyed their visits, 
phone calls and cards, and frequently spoke of them.&nbsp; He also loved his 
grandchildren, Angela, Andy and Sarah, and was grateful for the time he 
was able to spend with them as young kids, teens and adults.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

Harold was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Wilma, his 
sisters, Delores (Bill) Altoff, Eleanor “Nels” Havens, Mildred “Mid” 
(Marion) Booe, and his brother, Lawrence “Bud” (Rosalie) Larson.&nbsp; 
Survivors include, sons Alan (Patty) Larson of Bixby, Oklahoma and 
Rodney Larson (Lois Schartz) of Liebenthal, Kansas, and daughter, Anita 
Larson (Tom Arensberg) of Lawrence, Kansas.&nbsp; He is also survived by 
grandchildren Angela Larson Morris of Portland, Oregon, Andrew Larson of
 Portland, Oregon, and Sarah Larson of Omaha, Nebraska.&nbsp;&nbsp;

A private memorial service will be held graveside. Memorials may be 
made to the Kansas Wetlands Educational Center in care of 
Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home, P.O. Box 146, Hoisington, KS 67544.&nbsp;

Harold Verle Larson

Charlie Lee “Hillbilly” Weber, 57, passed away July 19, 2022, in 
rural Harvey County, Kan. He was born on August 9, 1964, in Great Bend 
to George &amp; Ruth (Watkins) Weber. He married Sarah Vasquez on June 
21, 2014, at Great Bend.

A lifetime area resident, Charlie was the owner and operator of 
C&amp;S Tank Service. He was a member of Prince of Peace Parish at St. 
Rose of Lima Catholic Church, St. Paul Catholic Church in Lyons and the 
Charlie’s Angels bowling team. He was a very hard worker and took pride 
that he enjoyed his work. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Charlie 
enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren participate in sports 
but he especially loved spending time with his grandchildren.

Survivors include, his wife, Sarah Weber of the home; his father, 
George Weber of Great Bend; four sons, Jerrad Morgan (Carrie) of Riley, 
Jessie Trevino (Jessica) of Ponca City, Okla., Jordan Trevino (Erika) of
 Lincoln, and Mikal Trevino (Shazia) of Great Bend; four daughters, 
Kelsea Weber (Dustin), Mollie Weber and Letecia Trevino all of Great 
Bend and Mercedes Trevino of Bushton; three brothers, George Weber, Jr. 
(Zola), Jimmy Weber (Tiara), and Joe Denney (Sharon) all of Great Bend; a
 sister, Theresa Weber-Herzberg (Dale) of Great Bend; twenty 
grandchildren; and one great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his
 mother, Ruth Ann Weber; and a grandson, Michael Lee Morgan.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Sunday, July 24,
 2022, at Bryant Funeral Home, with family to receive friends from 5:00 
to 8:00 p.m. and Vigil service at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial 
will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, July 25, 2022, at St. Rose of Lima 
Catholic Church in Great Bend, with Father Kola presiding. A private 
family inurnment will be held at a later date. 

Memorials have been 
designated to the Mikal Trevino Medical Fund, in care of Bryant Funeral 
Home.

Charlie Lee 'Hillbilly' Weber

James Milton Carver Jr., 74, went to be with his Lord and Savior on July
 17, 2022. He was born on December 16, 1947, in Weatherford, Oklahoma, to 
Milton and Peggy Carver. His family moved to Big Spring in 1951. He 
attended Big Spring High School where he was an all-around athlete, 
excelling in football, basketball and track &amp; field. 

After 
graduating in 1967, Jim went on to play football for Kansas State 
University on a full ride. He was named a two time All Big Eight 
Offensive Lineman, an All American and played in the Blue Gray All Star 
game in 1970. He met his wife, Carolee, during a snowball fight near the
 athletic dorms. Jim and Carolee married on July 24, 1970 and have been 
married for 52 years. After coaching and teaching in Oakley, Kansas, 
Stephenville, Early, and Blanket, Jim and his family moved to Midland, 
Texas, in 1984. He started teaching and coaching at Alamo Jr. High and 
moved to Lee Freshman in 1987 to teach history and coach. Coaching and 
investing in the lives of students was one of his great loves and 
passions. He coached until 1992 when he was sidelined by blood clots. He
 moved to Lee High in 1997 and taught history and geography until he 
retired from MISD in 2007. Along the way he taught many students in 
Drivers Ed and also showed them how to navigate life.
 Coach loved his wife, his kids, and grandkids. You could find him 
cheering at their school events, yelling at the refs and almost getting 
kicked out of their games, as well as enjoying choir concerts, dance 
recitals, supporting them in History Fair and just showing up in their 
everyday lives. He was a proud supporter of Midland Lee Rebels, Kansas 
State Wildcats, and The University of Texas Longhorns. He loved all 
things football. He was an avid car and train enthusiast and enjoyed 
spending time tinkering. He also had a passion for back seat driving, 
calling plays at any type of sporting event and having brief encounters 
with stupidity. “BRIEF!” He was notorious for his amusing exclamations 
like “Didn’t they know we were coming?!”, “Chump!”, “buzzard puke” and 
“May the fleas of a thousand camels infest your arm pits!” Coach loved 
serving and worshiping at Wilshire Park Baptist Church. He was an active
 participant in Men’s prayer breakfast and loved a mean potluck.
 With everything that Jim was and accomplished in his life, his real 
legacy can be seen in his love and belief in Jesus and showing others 
that love. And that legacy of love is carried on through his children 
and grandchildren.
 Coach is survived by his wife, Carolee Carver, his daughter Melissa 
Barlow, her husband Kent, his son Jeremy Carver, and daughter Christina 
Wren, and her husband Clint. Coach’s grandchildren Bailey, Jackson, Elah
 Grace, Keller Barlow and Nolan and Paxton Wren. Coach’s sister Connie, 
her husband George and their daughter’s Shannon, Bobby, Lauren Jackson 
and Tiffany, Shawn, and Emma Grace Hawkins. He is also survived by Uncle
 Sonny Moore, Aunt Wanda, and their family as well as Brother-in-Laws 
Cec, Dennis, Vaughn Lambert and their families.
 Coach is preceded in death by his father James Milton Carver Sr., 
his mother Peggy Louise Carver, his father in law John Cecil Lambert and
 mother in law Ruth Lorene Lambert, Brother-in-Law Ronald Dee Lambert 
and numerous Aunts, Uncles, and cousins.
 The family would like to thank Hospice of Midland for their love and
 care in his final months. The family would also like to thank Cimmaron 
Place staff, along with the friends he made for making his last two 
months a positive experience. 
 The visitation was Thursday, July 21, 2022, from 5:00-7:00 pm at 
Nalley-Pickle Welch. The celebration of life was held Friday, July 22, 
2022 at 2:00 pm at Wilshire Park Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Midland and/or Wilshire Park Baptist Church, Midland, Tx.
