Michael Eugene Estes, 77, passed away August 17, 2022, at Stafford County Hospital, Stafford.

He was born in Hominy, Oklahoma, the son of Arlie Calvin “Buck” and Dolores Irene Jaynes Estes.

A longtime area resident, he was a member of the First Christian 
Church in Great Bend, International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers: 
IBEW Local 304, Mack Flying Club, and a lifetime member of the National 
Benchrest Shooters Association. At six years old he was baptized at the 
First Christian Church, Great Bend, with his mom, dad, and sister, all 
on the same day. He graduated from Great Bend High School in 1963 and 
attended Kansas State University. Following his college graduation, he 
enlisted in the Army National Guard from 1966 to 1972 and attended 
training in Fort Campbell, Kentucky, home of the 101st 
Airborne. &nbsp;He was a Foreman for the City of St. John Electrical 
Department, then later worked for PAR Electric where he retired after 
20+ years. In his spare time, he enjoyed flying model airplanes, 
benchrest shooting, model boats, fishing, and spending time with his 
family.

Survivors include: his daughter, Kalla (Mike Jr.) Miller, Stafford, 
and four grandchildren: Mason, Westen, Wyatt, and McKay; his friend, 
Carol Martin and their two dogs, Desirea and Luna Belle.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Virena Walls, and brother-in-law, Tommy Walls.

Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 24, 2022 at 
Beckwith Mortuary Chapel, Larned, with Pastor Wade Russell presiding. 
Visitation will be 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 23, 2022 at 
Beckwith Mortuary, Larned. Burial will be in Great Bend Cemetery.

Michael Eugene Estes

Richard L. Tennant, 86, died August 17, 2022, at Ascension Via 
Christi St. Francis Hospital, Wichita, Kansas.&nbsp; He was born June 1, 
1936, in Magic City, Texas, the son of Glenard “Whitie” and Thelma Grace
 (Bridges) Tennant. Richard graduated from Lefors High School in 1955.

On June 2, 1957, he married his high school sweetheart, Ann Stracner at the Baptist Church in Lefors, Texas.

Richard worked his whole life in the oil field in many different 
aspects.&nbsp; He started with Sinclair Oil and Gas as a roustabout, a truck 
driver, and a pumper. They were later bought out by Atlantic Richfield 
where he worked his way from truck driver to foreman. Retiring in 2000 
with British Petroleum as a supervisor.

Richard and Ann moved with his oil field jobs, living in Stafford and
 Medicine Lodge, and finally moving to Claflin in 1974.&nbsp; He was active 
in the Volunteer Fire Departments in Stafford, Medicine Lodge and 
eventually Claflin where he was also an EMT.&nbsp; He was a member of the 
Claflin United Methodist Church, the Hoisington Masonic Lodge #331, the 
Golden Sheaf Order of the Eastern Star Chapter #226, and the Midian 
Shrine Center, receiving 50 year pins in each respectively.&nbsp;

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Ann Tennant of the home; and 
two daughters, Melinda Crager and husband Ron of Wichita and Gracie 
Demel and husband Roy of Ellinwood; 8 grandchildren, and 11 great 
grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitaiton will be 2 p.m. to 8 p.m., Sunday, with family to greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m., at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home.

Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m., Monday, August 22, 2022, at 
Claflin United Methodist Church, with Pastor Diana Webster presiding.&nbsp; 
Burial will follow in Claflin Cemetery.

Elaine Louise (Jennings) Smith, age 94, passed away on August 8, 2022, at the Logan County Senior Living Nursing Home in Oakley.&nbsp; She was born to Henry &amp; Angeline Jennings on September 20, 1927.&nbsp; Elaine was born and raised in Colby, Kansas.&nbsp; After graduating from Colby High School in 1945, Elaine met the love of her life while working at Lois’ Drug Store in Colby.&nbsp; Don and Elaine married on August 8, 1946, in Colby and were blessed with one child, Robert “Bruce” Smith, on April 2, 1955. In her younger years, Elaine enjoyed off-road jeep adventures, motorcycle rides, and ship cruises.&nbsp; She enjoyed working with the public as a telephone operator, a receptionist, and retired from the Oakley Public Library in the early 2000’s.&nbsp; Elaine had acquired some very meaningful relationships during her stay at the home and enjoyed visits from her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry &amp; Angeline Jennings, her husband Donald Smith, her son Bruce Smith, her sister Opal (Sam) Unruh, and brother-in-law, Bob Randle. Elaine
 is survived by her brother-in-law, Stan (Virginia) Smith of Oakley, 
sister-in-law, Phyllis Randle of Wichita, and nieces and nephews. Elaine will be greatly missed by family and friends. Cremation

Elaine Louise Smith

Glen Leo Stricker, 92, passed away on August 17, 2022, in rural 
Barton County. He was born on January 20, 1930, to Gottfried &amp; 
Amalia “Mollie” (Niedenthal) Stricker. He married Norma Karst on 
September 28, 1952, at Bender Hill Lutheran Church in Russell County, 
Kan.

A longtime Great Bend resident, Glen was a contractor for G&amp;L 
Construction and Hubert Bender Home Builders. He was a member of St. 
Mark Lutheran Church and VFW Post #3111 in Great Bend. He enjoyed 
gardening, genealogy, fishing, farming and spending time with his 
family. Glen was a veteran of the United States Air Force serving during
 the Korean war, also being stationed in Saudi Arabia.

Survivors include, his wife, Norma Stricker of the home; a son, 
Anthony "Tony" Stricker of Great Bend; two daughters, Cynthia Axman of 
Broken Arrow, Okla. and Michelle Lanham and husband Chuck of Fort Worth,
 Tex.; four brothers, Elmer Stricker of Tex., Roy "Bob" Stricker and 
Dean Stricker all of Great Bend and Thomas “Tom” Stricker of Hill City; 
four sisters, Elsena Bender of Great Bend and Lenetta Springer of Ill., 
Mary Jane Doonan of Ariz. and Kathryn Booth of Okla.; three 
granddaughters, Alisha Hunley and husband Clifton, Baylee Lanham and 
Keely Lanham; two great grandchildren, Jarrett Hunley and KayLynne 
Hunley; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Harvey Stricker, 
Gottfried “Fritz” Stricker Jr., and an infant brother, Henry Hubert 
Stricker; sisters, Rozella Van Reenan and Helena “Helen” Michaelis; and a
 grandson, Jared Axman.

Visitation will be held from Noon to 8:00 p.m., Monday, August 22, 
2022, at Bryant Funeral Home, with family to receive friends from 5:00 
to 7:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, August
 23, 2022, at St. Mark Lutheran Church in Great Bend with Pastor Adam

John J. Bass

Patricia Bernice Hemken, 69, passed away after a three-year battle 
with cancer on August 17, 2022, peacefully at home in Great Bend, 
Kansas. She was born on January 31, 1953, at Pawnee Rock, Kansas, to 
Edwin &amp; Margaret (Halda) Hemken.

Coming from Larned to Great Bend in 1994, Patricia spent her working 
life as an LPN for Larned State Hospital. She loved her family, plants, 
and fur baby: Kody Bear Daytona Dreamer.

Survivors include long-time significant other Steve Fellers, of the 
home; one daughter, Shawna (Trey) Fiesterman of Great Bend; on 
granddaughter, Paige Barry of Great Bend; two brothers, Edwin (Diana) 
Hemken of Derby and Robert (Mo) Hemken of Pawnee Rock; and three 
sisters, Dorothy Hessman of Dodge City, Joyce Hemken of Alvin, Tex., and
 Sue (Jim) Wozniak of Bovins, Ark. She is preceded in death by her 
parents and sister, Janis Folkerts.

There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place. Per 
Patricia’s wishes, there will not be a memorial service.

Royce Alan Roesch, 86, of Quinter, KS, passed away on Thursday, July 
21, 2022, at Gove County Medical Center in Quinter, KS. &nbsp;Royce was born 
August 9, 1935, in Quinter, KS, and adopted by Archie Bryan and Ida 
(Bowman) Roesch. He graduated from Quinter High School with the class of
 1954.

Royce attended McPherson College for two years, then served in 
Brethren Volunteer Service, from 1956 to 1958 in Austria and Greece, 
teaching the local farmers different farming techniques. He graduated 
from McPherson College in 1961 with a Bachelor of Science degree in 
Education.

Royce and Mary Jennings met at McPherson College and were united in 
marriage on December 17, 1960, at the First Central Church of the 
Brethren in Kansas City, KS, and together they enjoyed 62 years of 
marriage.&nbsp; To this union, Royce and Mary were blessed with four 
children, three daughters, Paula, Michele and Amy, and son Brian.

Royce was an educator in Logan, KS and Waterford, CA, teaching for 
10 years, before returning to Quinter in 1973 to take over the family 
farm.&nbsp; After farming, later in life Royce enjoyed working at Formation 
Plastics and driving a bus for the Quinter School District.

Royce was a creative and forward thinker all of his life.&nbsp; He loved a
 long road trip and taking the road less traveled. Camping, traveling, 
family, friends, photography and tinkering with his R.V. was among his 
favorite things.

Royce is survived by his wife Mary Roesch, Quinter; four children, 
Paula Sargent, Quinter; Brian Roesch (Linda), Quinter; Michele Roesch 
Johnson (Eric), McPherson, KS; Amy Crist (John) Quinter; grandchildren,

Amy E. Yeager, 48, passed away August 12, 2022, in Manhattan.

She was born March 31, 1974, in Hutchinson, the daughter of Michael Yeager and Ann Shackelford.

She was a homemaker and a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Larned.

Survivors include: her parents, Mike (Jill) Yeager, Larned, Ann 
(D.J.) Chance, Claremore, Oklahoma; daughter, Hailey Russell, Manhattan;
 son, Hunter Shoffner, Asheville, North Carolina; three sisters, Jenny 
(Bryon) Machado, Miami, Oklahoma, Kristen Stitt, Wichita, Katherine 
(Aaron) Pohl, Lansing; two brothers, Luke Brown and Sean (Amber) Brown, 
both of Hutchinson; grandparents, Geneva Pivonka, Larned, Connie

William Robert Veitch, 79, died peacefully on August 15, 2022, with loved ones at his side at his home in Boulder, CO.

Bill was born in Ellsworth, Kansas, on November 22, 1942, to William 
J. and Frances Veitch. He grew up in Salina, spending treasured time 
with his grandparents in Barnard and Kanopolis. He was active in Boy 
Scouts, attaining the rank of Eagle Scout.

After graduating from Salina High School and College of Emporia, he 
enlisted in the U.S. Navy in March 1964. He attended Officer Candidate 
School in Newport, Rhode Island, and served three tours in Southeast 
Asia as a Gunnery Officer on board the USS Wedderburn between 1964 and 
1967.

When he returned from his service in the Navy, Bill earned his 
master’s degree and PhD from Kansas State University, studying 
quantitative methods and completing his dissertation on a computer 
program that he wrote comparing statistical tests. He spent the next 30 
years working as an administrator in testing and research for public 
school districts in Michigan and Colorado, retiring in 2003.

Bill spent his retirement enjoying travel, Major League Baseball, 
classic movies, time with grandkids, good food and fine wine. He was 
unbeatable at trivia and the New York Times crossword puzzle. Bill’s 
kindness and generous spirit were known by all of those close to him. 
His sharp intellect and sense of humor will be missed and remembered 
forever. He was a good man.

He is survived by his son, William Donald Veitch (Heather) of 
Albuquerque, New Mexico; daughter, Susan Veitch Twetten (Daniel) of 
Boulder, Colorado; grandchildren Olivia, Isabel, Liam, Zoe, Jane and 
Elsa; and former wife and longtime friend Jane Roane. The family would 
also like to thank his trusted caregiver Pemba Warren for her devoted 
care in his final years.

Funeral services will be held at the graveside at 3:00 p.m. Saturday 
August 20, 2022, in the Gypsum Hill Cemetery, Salina, Ks.&nbsp; The family 
will receive friends at the Ryan Mortuary at 2:00 pm that day before 
processing to the graveside.

William Robert Veitch

The Rev. Francis
Maurice Runyon was born at home in Grinnell, rural Gove County, Kansas, on June
25, 1925. His parents were Orda Abel and Edna Mae Beougher Runyon. He was the
sixth of seven children. He passed away at the age of 97 on Tuesday, August 16,
2022, at Smith Center Health and Rehab.

Francis
 attended West Sunny Slope grade school and Grinnell Rural High School. 
He was converted at an early age and attended and joined the Grinnell 
Grace Church of the Nazarene. While in high school, Francis felt the 
call of God to be a minister of the Gospel. However, his formal 
education was interrupted by Uncle Sam for World War II. The farm boy 
“saw the world” by serving in the U.S. Navy as a crew member of the USS 
Rockingham (troop transport ship), amphibious forces in the Pacific, 
1944-46. He was ranked a Motor Machinists Mate, 3rd Class Petty Officer 
and a veteran of Okinawa and initial occupation landings in Japan. Upon 
discharge from the navy the discharging officer asked him what he 
planned to do once he was out of the Navy. Francis firmly stated that 
God had called him to be a minister. He returned home to complete his 
high school education and graduated in 1947. He then attended Bethany 
Peniel College (now Southern Nazarene University), Bethany, Oklahoma, 
and obtained degrees of Th.B. and B.A.

While in college, Francis met Betty Marie Powers of Henryetta,
Oklahoma. They were married on August 12, 1949. They were blessed with three
children, Charlotte Ann, Kenneth Allen and Joanna Marie. Upon his second
graduation from college in 1952, Francis &amp; Betty began a 40-year ministry
serving together with the Churches of the Nazarene in Severy, Atwood, WaKeeney,
Smith Center and Scott City, all in Kansas, and in Crawford, Nebraska. Upon
retirement, they returned to Smith Center, where Betty died two months later,
in July of 1992. They were married almost 43 years. Francis did pulpit supply
and served as interim pastor in Smith County, held revival services, served as
hospital chaplain and American Legion Post 220 Chaplain and was a member of the
local American Legion and Lions Club.

While “filling in” for a funeral at the First Presbyterian Church
in Smith Center, he became re-acquainted with Joanne Hill, who was to play the
piano for the service. He “liked what he saw” and surprised himself, Joanne,
and all their Runyon and Hill children when they decided to try dating. He
wasn't sure how close they were in age. So, since it is never okay to ask a
lady her age, he checked her birth date on her tombstone in the Crystal Plains
Cemetery! On November 26, 1994, Francis married Barbara “Joanne” Dick Hill.
They spent 27 years together, fishing, hunting (once!), visiting “the farm,”
and pulling the camper to various locations and seeing the sights. They both
loved visiting the Crawford, Nebraska area and that “church family” and going
to the Black Hills. They also each enjoyed the family reunions held by both
families. When camping and road trips were no longer possible, they were still
always busy with coffee, clubs, church activities and their “daily appointment”
at the “center table” at Jiffy Burger. They took great enjoyment with visits
from the nieces &amp; nephews, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

After he became a resident of Smith Center Health &amp; Rehab,
Francis continued to be “Pastor Runyon” for the Sunday services during the
Covid shut down. He looked forward to his daily phone calls with Joanne and
evening visits, even when they had to be by Walkie-talkie through the front
door.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his siblings, Noel Ray,
Naomi Ruth Hartzler, Virgil “Paul,” Neva Leola Broggi, Eunice Louise Jones, and
Justus “Leroy.” He was also preceded in death by wives Betty Marie Powers
(1992) and Barbara “Joanne” Dick Hill (2022), daughter Charlotte Ann (2007) and
son Kenneth Allen (1983).

He is survived by daughter Joanna, brother-in-law Paul Harper,
step-children Alan (Lynne) Hill and Patricia (Darren) Meyer, all of Smith
County, and Mary Jane McIntyre of Salina. Other survivors include 8
grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandson and many nieces
and nephews from the Runyon, Harper and Hill families.

Funeral
 services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, August 20, 2022, at the 
Church of the Nazarene, 117 E. New York St., Smith Center, KS, with 
Pastor Jeremy Carr officiating.&nbsp; Visitation will be held on Friday,

The Rev. Francis Maurice Runyon

Kay Ann (Hoeting) Parks, 64, passed away Saturday, August 13, 2022, in 
Wakeeney, Kansas. Kay was born April 3, 1958, in Colby, Kansas, to 
Delmer Lee and Evelyn Marie (Super) Hoeting. She grew up on the family 
farm south of Penokee and attended Penokee Grade School and graduated 
from Morland High School in 1976. During her school years, Kay was 
active in 4-H, FFA, and sports. She was a member of the Morland Tigers 
state volleyball team and always did well on her entries at the county 
fair. She won Grand Champion at the Kansas State Fair one year with her 
yeast bread recipe. 
 	Kay attended Colby Community College where she was a member of the 
volleyball team that played at Nationals in Baltimore, Maryland. She 
married Mike Parks in 1977. They later divorced. Their son, Aaron Denton
 Parks, was born in 1977 and daughter Amy Renee Parks arrived in 1980. 
Kay was a devoted mother who attended all her children’s school, 
sporting, and 4-H events. She continued this even after her kids were 
grown by attending events Amy coached.
 	Kay began working at Trego Lemke Memorial Hospital in 1984 where 
she served as Materials Manager for 38 years. Never one to sit still, 
Kay always had a second job. Over the years, she could be found working 
at Camerons, Tropps, Prairie Junction, Reds, and Sub Station. She joined
 the Graham County Fair Board in 1994 and served as the 
secretary/treasurer for 28 years. Kay was recently honored as the Grand 
Marshal for the 2022 Graham County Fair Parade. She devoted thousands 
of hours to the planning, promotion, and running of the fair. She loved 
to see the community come together to compete and enjoy each other. Kay 
also served on the Kansas Fairs and Festivals Board for 13 years. During
 that time, she served as secretary/treasurer, vice-president, and 
president of the state association. She enjoyed her time on the board 
and said it felt like one big family working together. 
 	Kay was independent and self-sufficient. She had a heart of gold 
and an ornery streak in equal measure. She enjoyed watching and playing 
sports and spent several summers playing on a women’s softball team. She
 loved the outdoors and went fishing as often as she could. She was an 
avid gardener who was known far and wide for her specialization in 
irises. Kay was also a gifted baker. She was well-known for her 
generosity among the recipients who enjoyed her homemade donuts, rolls, 
noodles, cinnamon twists, cookies, and annual sweets platter. She had a 
special connection with each of her nieces and nephews who have fond 
memories of her bringing special treats and afternoons spent sledding, 
horseback riding, and cooking. The most special place in her heart, 
however, was reserved for her grandchildren. She loved spending time 
with them and watching their activities and events. 
 	Those gone before her to welcome her to heaven include her father 
Delmer Hoeting, brother Bill Hoeting, and grandson Taegan Stewart. Those
 left to cherish and honor her memory include her mother Evelyn Hoeting,
 Hill City; her children, Aaron and Abby Parks, Olathe, and Amy and 
Kerry Stewart, Hill City; her grandsons: Kolby, Kiptyn, and Kasyn 
Stewart; her granddaughter Berkley Parks; her siblings: Glenda Peltier, 
Reno, Nevada, Ben and Jeanette Hoeting, Rexford, and Marvin and Heather 
Hoeting, Manhattan; her nieces and nephews; and more friends than anyone
 could count. 
 	 Kay fought bravely to the very end, proving that cancer cannot 
invade the soul, suppress memories, kill friendships, destroy peace, 
conquer the spirit, shatter hope, cripple love, corrode faith, silence 
courage, or steal eternal life. Her legacy lives on through the 
organizations she served, the lives she touched, and the family she 
loved.

 	Kay began working at Trego Lemke Memorial Hospital in 1984 where 
she served as Materials Manager for 38 years. Never one to sit still, 
Kay always had a second job. Over the years, she could be found working 
at Camerons, Tropps, Prairie Junction, Reds, and Sub Station. She joined
 the Graham County Fair Board in 1994 and served as the 
secretary/treasurer for 28 years. Kay was recently honored as the Grand 
Marshal for the 2022 Graham County Fair Parade. She devoted thousands 
of hours to the planning, promotion, and running of the fair. She loved 
to see the community come together to compete and enjoy each other. Kay 
also served on the Kansas Fairs and Festivals Board for 13 years. During
 that time, she served as secretary/treasurer, vice-president, and 
president of the state association. She enjoyed her time on the board 
and said it felt like one big family working together. 
 	Kay was independent and self-sufficient. She had a heart of gold 
and an ornery streak in equal measure. She enjoyed watching and playing 
sports and spent several summers playing on a women’s softball team. She
 loved the outdoors and went fishing as often as she could. She was an 
avid gardener who was known far and wide for her specialization in 
irises. Kay was also a gifted baker. She was well-known for her 
generosity among the recipients who enjoyed her homemade donuts, rolls, 
noodles, cinnamon twists, cookies, and annual sweets platter. She had a 
special connection with each of her nieces and nephews who have fond 
memories of her bringing special treats and afternoons spent sledding, 
horseback riding, and cooking. The most special place in her heart, 
however, was reserved for her grandchildren. She loved spending time 
with them and watching their activities and events. 
 	Those gone before her to welcome her to heaven include her father 
Delmer Hoeting, brother Bill Hoeting, and grandson Taegan Stewart. Those
 left to cherish and honor her memory include her mother Evelyn Hoeting,
 Hill City; her children, Aaron and Abby Parks, Olathe, and Amy and 
Kerry Stewart, Hill City; her grandsons: Kolby, Kiptyn, and Kasyn 
Stewart; her granddaughter Berkley Parks; her siblings: Glenda Peltier, 
Reno, Nevada, Ben and Jeanette Hoeting, Rexford, and Marvin and Heather 
Hoeting, Manhattan; her nieces and nephews; and more friends than anyone
 could count. 
 	 Kay fought bravely to the very end, proving that cancer cannot 
invade the soul, suppress memories, kill friendships, destroy peace, 
conquer the spirit, shatter hope, cripple love, corrode faith, silence 
courage, or steal eternal life. Her legacy lives on through the

Jeane Carol Laizure Smith, 94, of Manhattan, KS, passed away on August 
10, 2022. Jeane was born July 9, 1928, in Gorham, Kansas, to the late 
Clarence and Nellie Laizure.
 Jeane married the love of her life, Donald Smith, on October 31, 
1948. She retired from Kansas State University in December 1987 
performing accountant work for several departments. Jeane and Don made 
their home primarily in Hays and Norton, until moving to Manhattan in 
1968. Jeane graduated from Hays High School and attended Ft. Hays State 
University and graduated from Kansas State University. Jeane and Don 
were avid RVers and were members of the Man-Kan Campers Club. Jeane and 
Don were snowbirds enjoying winters in Mission, Texas with their 
friends. Happy Birthday, grandma, as Jeane was known to her children 
and grandchildren, always called on their birthdays singing the song in 
her wonderful voice. Jeane loved the traditions and preparations for all
 holidays which the family will cherish forever.
 Jeane followed Don, her husband of 72 years, in death. She is 
survived by: her son; Richard "Dick" (Kimberly Briggs) Smith of Lenexa, 
KS; daughters, Linda Smith (Timothy) Duncan of Fort Collins, CO; and

Jadene Eva Stickler Colglazier left her earthly life August 15, 
2022.&nbsp; She was 96 years old and was of the Methodist faith.&nbsp; She was 
born 7/7/1926 to Frank Russell and Ines Mae Quinn Stickler in Alva, OK.&nbsp;

Jadene met Harlan Dean Colglazier at the University of Kansas in 1945
 and married him on 5/18/1947 in Burlington, KS. Harlan preceded her in 
death 7/31/2004.&nbsp;

Their marriage produced 6 children, Eric Rulon, Beth Ann, Jean, 
Jennifer Louise, Erin Suzanne, and Andrew Martin.&nbsp; She is survived by 
daughter-in-law Ruth (Jack) Stewart, Larned KS;&nbsp; Beth (Jon) Kolb, 
Lawrence, KS;&nbsp; Jean (Timothy) Knapp, Brookline, MO; Jennifer (John) Yocum,

Betty Louise Foley Wiltfong was born on January 10, 1935. Her parents 
were Walt and Rose Fritz Foley. She had six siblings: Edward Foley, 
Alice Horner, Donald “Jack” Foley, Dale Foley, Joyce Foley, and Thomas 
Foley. Betty passed away August 16, 2022 at the Norton County Hospital 
at the age of 87.
 Betty attended Thomas Country schools in Marysville, KS. On December
 31, 1957, she married Harold Wiltfong. They raised two daughters, Debra 
Rose and Rebecca Louise.
 Betty worked at Jack’s Restaurant for many years. After that, she 
was employed by the City of Norton as one of their billing clerks. She 
worked there for 30 years before retiring. 
 Betty was a member of the Methodist Church. Her hobbies included 
crocheting, gardening, and yard work. She loved staying home and 
puttering around the house. That gave her the most joy!
 Betty had two children, three grandchildren, four great grandchildren, one stepson, and seven step-grandchildren.
 She is survived by her oldest daughter, Debra and husband Terry; 
granddaughter, Jamie and her husband Luke; great grandchildren: Madilyn 
and Charlotte; step grandson, Ryan and his wife Cassia, and seven 
step-great grandchildren, Caden, Chayla, Shailyn, Alexander, Terrance, 
Savanna, and Raiden Russell. She is also survived by her daughter, Rebecca and her husband Kurt; 
grandson, Grant and his wife Wendy; great grandchildren, Charly and 
Seve; granddaughter, Haley and her husband, Robert; great grandchildren,
 Jackson and Lenny.
 She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harold; siblings: Ed, Alice, Jack, Joyce, and Tom, and stepson, Cody Russell.

Faye Lucille Will, 84, La Crosse, Kansas, passed away Sunday, August 
14, 2022, at Rush County Memorial Hospital Intermediate Swing Bed, La 
Crosse, Kansas.

Faye was born August 25, 1937, in Gilead, Nebraska, the daughter of 
William Adolf and Lucille Viola (Borovicka) Peperkorn.&nbsp; She was a 
resident of Rush County, Kansas, for 50+ years, moving from Colorado.&nbsp; A
 1955 graduate of Hebron High School, Hebron, Nebraska.&nbsp; Faye was a bank
 teller for Farmers Bank &amp; Trust, formerly The Home State Bank, La 
Crosse, Kansas, for 30+ years before her retirement.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Great Bend, Kansas; and 
attended services at Hope Lutheran Church, Rush Center, Kansas, and 
First Lutheran Church, La Crosse, Kansas.

The sun and moon in her life were her son and daughter, Steve and 
Denise, her four grandchildren, and her 7 ½ great grandchildren.

Faye enjoyed and spent many hours watching her grandchildren’s sporting events.&nbsp; She also enjoyed quilting.

In 1957, she married Don Richardson at Hebron, Nebraska.&nbsp; They were blessed with two children, Steve and Denise.

She later married Reverend Kenneth J. Will on June 9, 1967, at Denver, Colorado.&nbsp; He preceded her in death March 16, 2016.

Survivors include:&nbsp; one son, Steve Richardson, La Crosse, Kansas; one
 daughter, Denise Morrison (Steve), Hoisington, Kansas; four 
grandchildren, Casey Morrison (Nichole), Albert, Kansas, Carla Schartz 
(Lance), Andover, Kansas, Abigail Jonas (Shane), Hoisington, Kansas, and
 Stephanie Koochel (Ethan), Manhattan, Kansas; seven great grandchildren
 with an eighth on the way; and one sister, Janice Wulfkeotter (Darold),
 Olathe, Kansas.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one brother, 
William “Billy” Peperkorn, and his wife, Lucille; an infant brother, 
Fredrick Peperkorn; and one sister, Norma Corliss, and her husband, 
Raymond.

Per Faye’s wishes, the family has chosen cremation.

Delores M. Zollman

James Anthony Nevins, 43, of Salina, Kansas, passed away Saturday, August 6, in Moundridge, Kansas. 
 James was born in Hutchinson, Kansas on January 17, 1979, a son of 
Donald Ray Nevins, of Mankato, Kansas and the late Carolyn D. (Barnes) 
Cashman.
 On October 20, 2008, James married Sadetthong “Sally” Keopine in Salina, Kansas.
 James was a triplet and liked to play jokes on people by pretending 
to be one of the other triplet brothers. He was also an avid Raiders 
football fan and loved fishing and camping. James was a retired member 
of the Army National Guard and served two deployments to Iraq. James 
had many ventures through the years but his most successful endeavors 
were Trade Craft Clothing line and MJ Tackle. Above all, along with 
the Lord, his wife and kids were his ultimate mission in life. 
 He was preceded in death by his mother, Carolyn; grandparents, Helen
 and Paul Barnes; grandparents, Carl and Arnetta Nevins and 
father-in-law, Khamvane Sayasing.
 James is survived by his wife, Sadetthong “Sally” Nevins, daughter, 
Brandy Archer (Kyle) of Girard, Kansas; two sons, Christian and Jayden

 </figure>James Anthony Nevins, 43, of Salina, Kansas, passed away Saturday, August 6, in Moundridge, Kansas. 
 James was born in Hutchinson, Kansas on January 17, 1979, a son of 
Donald Ray Nevins, of Mankato, Kansas and the late Carolyn D. (Barnes) 
Cashman.
 On October 20, 2008, James married Sadetthong “Sally” Keopine in Salina, Kansas.
 James was a triplet and liked to play jokes on people by pretending 
to be one of the other triplet brothers. He was also an avid Raiders 
football fan and loved fishing and camping. James was a retired member 
of the Army National Guard and served two deployments to Iraq. James 
had many ventures through the years but his most successful endeavors 
were Trade Craft Clothing line and MJ Tackle. Above all, along with 
the Lord, his wife and kids were his ultimate mission in life. 
 He was preceded in death by his mother, Carolyn; grandparents, Helen
 and Paul Barnes; grandparents, Carl and Arnetta Nevins and 
father-in-law, Khamvane Sayasing.
 James is survived by his wife, Sadetthong “Sally” Nevins, daughter, 
Brandy Archer (Kyle) of Girard, Kansas; two sons, Christian and Jayden 
Nevins of Salina, Kansas; brothers, Mark Nevins (Melinda) of Hoxie, 
Kansas and Matthew Nevins (Penny) of Concordia, Kansas; sisters,

Steve W. Gossman, age 72, passed away on Tuesday, August 16, 2022, at
 his home in Scott City, Kansas.&nbsp; He was born on May 4, 1950, in Garden 
City, Kansas, the son of Charles and Irene Withorn Gossman.&nbsp; A resident 
of Scott County, Kansas since 1984 moving from the family farm in Finney
 County, Kansas, he was a retired truck driver and farmer.

He was of the Christian faith and was a Boy Scout Leader.

On October 10, 1977, he married Veta Oyler in Eads, Colorado.&nbsp; She survives.

Survivors include his Wife - Veta Gossman of Scott City, Kansas, 
Three Sons - Clint &amp; Anne Gossman of Scott City, Kansas, Justin 
&amp; Tasha Gossman of Scott City, Kansas, Tyler Gossman of Salina, 
Kansas, Two Daughters - Charlotte Latta of Scott City, Kansas, Laura 
Hickert of Scott City, Kansas,&nbsp; One Brother - Gerald &amp; Norma Gossman
 of Garden City, Kansas, Twenty One Grandchildren, and Nine Great 
Grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his Parents, One Son - Jeremy Gossman, and Two Brothers - Larry Gossman and Garry Gossman.

Waynette Marie Roberts was a caring mother, grandmother, sister and 
friend. Waynette left this world suddenly on Aug 12, 2022, at the age of
 72. She was born to Wayne and Davena (Saunders) Dillon on August 18, 
1949, at the Portis Hospital in Portis, KS.
 Waynette was united in marriage to Carl (Dick) Roberts and to this 
union two children were born. Tiffany and Jace. They later divorced. 
 Waynette enjoyed the outdoors, and playing bingo. Her greatest joy 
was being with her children, grandchildren and her dog Gizmo. 
 She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant sister, and Travis Holloway (nephew). 
 Survivors include her daughter, Tiffany (Randall) Wyatt, Washington,
 KS; son, Jace Roberts (Sherri Thibault), Osborne; grandchildren Whitney
 Wyatt (Kellen Bargman), Palmer, KS; Lauren Wyatt, Brady (Marcy) Wyatt, 
Jordan (Kayla) Wyatt, all of Washington, KS; sisters Barbara Grabbe, 
Hays, KS; Dee Ann Conn, Deb Rannebeck, Claudia Schurr, all of Osborne; 
as well as many beloved great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and

Waynette Marie Roberts

William Albert “Willie” Relph, 66, died August 15, 2022, at 
Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. He was born January 9, 1956, in 
Oberlin, KS, to Lowell and Juanita (Tally) Relph.

Willie graduated from Salina South High School in 1974 and received 
his bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Washburn University in 
1978. He worked as a police officer in Garden City for 11 years and then
 worked in sales in both hardware and pre-fab homes. Willie was a 
motorcycle enthusiast who enjoyed motocross racing. He also loved 
hunting pheasants and fishing and was a diehard Royals fan.

In 1978, Willie married Sue Hobbs and they had two children together,
 Eric and Emily. On December 2, 2017, he married Sherry Lynn (Hullet) 
Schroeder, in Hutchinson. She survives.

Also surviving are: his children, Eric Relph (Chandra) of Spirit 
Lake, IA, and Emily Relph (Stephine Randall) of Coffeyville; 
grandchildren, Ethan Relph (Alejandra), Gracie Relph, Alli Relph, Kacely
 Relph; great-grandchildren, Genesis Relph, Eric Relph; mother, Juanita 
Relph of South Hutchinson; sister, Cheri Bergmeier (Brian) of Greeley, 
CO; brother, Thomas Relph (Betty) of Burleson, TX; and many extended 
family members.

He was preceded in death by his father, Lowell.

Cremation has taken place and no services are planned.

Merrily Kathleen McCamey, 80, passed away August 15, 2022, at Hospice
 House of Reno County in Hutchinson. She was born July 25, 1942, at 
Great Bend, to Thomas &amp; Nora (Manke) Karst. She married John 
Madison, had a daughter, Sheryl, and they were later divorced. She then 
married August Collins and they also later divorced. She then later 
married Jerry Prade “J.P.” McCamey in Indianapolis in January 2004. 
Merrily and J.P. spent the last twenty years traveling all over and it 
was a great passion for her.

A lifetime Great Bend resident, Merrily graduated from Otis Bison 
High School in 1960 and attended Bethany College in Lindsborg and 
Brown-Mackie College in Salina. She was a secretary for Lee Turner, Farm
 Bureau and Larned State Hospital. Merrily was a member of Encounter 
Church (formerly First Assembly of God Church) and volunteered for the 
prison ministry. Merrily was a talented musician being accomplished in 
the flute, piano, harp and voice. She enjoyed collecting recipes and had
 many pets throughout the last 50 years along with her daughter Rita 
that she loved and cherished, especially her dog, Sebastian and two 
cats, Toby and Angel.

Survivors include, her husband, J.P. McCamey; daughters, Sheryl 
McDowell of Nashville, Tenn. and her children, Zachary &amp; Madison 
McDowell, Rita Collins and Kathy Norlin both of Great Bend; twin boys, 
James Collins of Hutchinson and John Collins of Colo., special 
daughters, Sharon George and Tyra Collins; and J.P.’s children, Pastor 
Alan McCamey of Columbus, Kan., Pastor Jerry McCamey and Debbie 
Edgeworth all of Ind.; a sister, Winona Hooten of Batesville, Ark. and 
her children, Brandon Thomas (Chelsi) and Tina Gibbs (Jacob); and many 
grandchildren &amp; great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Lydia Rippie and a grandson, Jacob.

Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday, August 
19, 2022, at Bryant Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held at 2:00

Merrily Kathleen McCamey

Larry Dean Kilian passed away July 31, 2022, at 85 years of age at the Lawrence Memorial Hospital in Lawrence, Kansas. &nbsp;

Larry was born February 21, 1937,&nbsp;in Ellsworth, Kansas. Larry&nbsp;competed in&nbsp;shot put in Junior High track&nbsp;and field and was on the 440 relay team, posting&nbsp;a new school record with a 51.4 run. He also played varsity football all 4 years of&nbsp;high&nbsp;school,&nbsp;played&nbsp;men’s basketball,&nbsp;and ran track.&nbsp;In 1955&nbsp;he was part of the Russell Broncos Men’s Basketball&nbsp;team&nbsp;State&nbsp;Class A Champions.&nbsp;&nbsp;Larry&nbsp;met&nbsp;Donna&nbsp;Lee Franklin&nbsp;at a band trip to the fair in Salina, Kansas,&nbsp;and started dating at age&nbsp;15. This relationship continued until he was united in marriage to Donna on July 31, 1960. Their first year of marriage they moved&nbsp;from Russell to&nbsp;Hoxie, Kansas,&nbsp;where Donna taught&nbsp;second&nbsp;grade and Larry taught&nbsp;grades&nbsp;5-8&nbsp;at a nearby little town—Studley, Kansas.

Larry and Donna moved&nbsp;back to Russell&nbsp;in 1963 where he&nbsp;began farming with his father. &nbsp;They farmed wheat and milo and raised&nbsp;Angus cattle. Harvest&nbsp;time was his favorite time&nbsp;because&nbsp;family all pitched in and worked it. &nbsp;Donna made lunch at the house for all the workers and&nbsp;prepared&nbsp;sandwiches&nbsp;for&nbsp;them to&nbsp;eat&nbsp;later for&nbsp;dinner. Dad took his 30-minute power nap after lunch before going back out in the field.&nbsp;&nbsp;

In June 2006,&nbsp;Larry and Donna decided to retire from their farm life in Russell after&nbsp;45&nbsp;years. &nbsp;Larry and Donna chose to make a move to Eudora, Kansas,&nbsp;to&nbsp;be close to&nbsp;family. &nbsp;They enjoyed going to&nbsp;auctions/estate sales,&nbsp;traveling with family and friends,&nbsp;and attending&nbsp;their&nbsp;grandsons’&nbsp;basketball and baseball games. &nbsp;As a pastime Larry took up stained glass,&nbsp;which,&nbsp;for a “farm boy from a small town in Kansas,”&nbsp;he&nbsp;was very talented&nbsp;He&nbsp;also enjoyed refinishing furniture. He displayed these&nbsp;beautiful creations&nbsp;in his booth at the D. Palma and Co. Mercantile&nbsp;antique mall&nbsp;in Russell and&nbsp;gave them&nbsp;as gifts to friends and family.

Larry was preceded in death by&nbsp;his&nbsp;father and mother, Johnny Kilian and Alvina&nbsp;Lucille (Krug) Kilian; and his wife. He is survived by one daughter, Karla Jean (Doug) Krause of DeSoto, Kansas; one son, Stuart John (JoAnn) Kilian of Gorham, Kansas; and three grandsons, Travis (Staci) Krause&nbsp;of Wichita, Kansas; Trent Krause (Kaytlyn Green) of Lenexa, Kansas; and Cameron Kilian of Gorham, Kansas;&nbsp;brother Gary Kilian&nbsp;(Diane)&nbsp;of Russell, Kansas,&nbsp;sisters&nbsp;Judy Holmes&nbsp;of Russell, Kansas&nbsp;and Cindy Gilveli (Greg)&nbsp;of&nbsp;Arizona City, Arizona.

The family extends their heart-felt thanks to the many friends who visited, phoned, and sent cards&nbsp;during&nbsp;the past months. &nbsp;They also extend their gratitude to the nurses and physicians at Lawrence&nbsp;Memorial Hospital, Precision Cancer Center,&nbsp;and the Douglas County Visiting&nbsp;Nurses and Hospice Care.&nbsp;Larry&nbsp;will truly be missed by&nbsp;the many people whose hearts he touched.

A graveside&nbsp;memorial&nbsp;service to&nbsp;celebrate Larry’s&nbsp;life will be held at 10 A.M. on Saturday, August 20, 2022, at the Russell City Cemetery in&nbsp;Russell, Kansas. &nbsp;Visitation&nbsp;will be from 9 A.M. to 8 P.M. on Friday, August 19, 2022, at&nbsp;the mortuary with family&nbsp;greeting guests from 6 P.M. to 8 P.M.&nbsp;Friday evening. &nbsp;Cremation has been selected by the family. &nbsp;Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary of Russell, Kansas, is in charge of the funeral services.&nbsp;&nbsp;

 </figure>Larry Dean Kilian passed away July 31, 2022, at 85 years of age at the Lawrence Memorial Hospital in Lawrence, Kansas. &nbsp;Larry was born February 21, 1937,&nbsp;in Ellsworth, Kansas. Larry&nbsp;competed in&nbsp;shot put in Junior High track&nbsp;and field and was on the 440 relay team, posting&nbsp;a new school record with a 51.4 run. He also played varsity football all 4 years of&nbsp;high&nbsp;school,&nbsp;played&nbsp;men’s basketball,&nbsp;and ran track.&nbsp;In 1955&nbsp;he was part of the Russell Broncos Men’s Basketball&nbsp;team&nbsp;State&nbsp;Class A Champions.&nbsp;&nbsp;Larry&nbsp;met&nbsp;Donna&nbsp;Lee Franklin&nbsp;at a band trip to the fair in Salina, Kansas,&nbsp;and started dating at age&nbsp;15. This relationship continued until he was united in marriage to Donna on July 31, 1960. Their first year of marriage they moved&nbsp;from Russell to&nbsp;Hoxie, Kansas,&nbsp;where Donna taught&nbsp;second&nbsp;grade and Larry taught&nbsp;grades&nbsp;5-8&nbsp;at a nearby little town—Studley, Kansas.Larry and Donna moved&nbsp;back to Russell&nbsp;in 1963 where he&nbsp;began farming with his father. &nbsp;They farmed wheat and milo and raised&nbsp;Angus cattle. Harvest&nbsp;time was his favorite time&nbsp;because&nbsp;family all pitched in and worked it. &nbsp;Donna made lunch at the house for all the workers and&nbsp;prepared&nbsp;sandwiches&nbsp;for&nbsp;them to&nbsp;eat&nbsp;later for&nbsp;dinner.
