Norton, KS resident, Mark Anthony Van Patten passed away August 19, 2022, at the Norton County Hospital at the age of 43.

He was born July 21, 1979, in Kearney, NE the son of Anthony and Rose (Anderson) Van Patten.&nbsp;

Survivors include his girlfriend Jessica Ebner and their two boys 
Brandon Mathew and Ashton Alexander of Norton, KS; his three daughters 
Khrissanna Marrie, Téa Marrie, and Serenity Rose Van Patten all of 
Norton, KS; two sept-daughters Rylie Linner and Karmyn Rutherford of 
Norton; step-son Gavin Rutherford of Norton; three grandchildren; two 
step-grandchildren; parents Anthony and Rose Van Patten of Almena, KS; 
brothers Mathew Van Patten and wife Hilary of Almena and Benjamin Van 
Patten of Phillipsburg; and his paternal grandfather David Van Patten of
 Almena, KS.

Cremation was planned.&nbsp; A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, August 26th,&nbsp; in the Norton Christian Church with Pastor Nate Hagen officiating.&nbsp; The
 services will be streamed live on the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel 
Facebook page.

Victor Edwin Campbell, 80, of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, August 17, 2022.

Funeral will be held Thursday, 
August 25, at Porter Funeral Home, 8535 Monrovia, Lenexa, Kansas.&nbsp; 
Visitation is from 1:00 -2:00 p.m., funeral service at 2:00 p.m.

Victor was born March 28, 1942, in 
Okmulgee, Oklahoma, to Jack LeRoy Campbell&nbsp;and Wanda LaJoyce (Bryant) 
Campbell. The family moved to Kansas City in 1949. Victor graduated 
from Wyandotte High School in 1960, served in the Air Force Reserves, 
attended Emporia State University, University of Kansas and Rockhurst 
College, where he studied literature. &nbsp;

Victor Edwin Campbell was preceded in death by his father, Jack LeRoy Campbell and longtime companion David A. Stickelber.

He is survived by his mother Wanda 
LaJoyce (Bryant) Campbell, sister Cheryl Jeter (Joseph), niece Evan 
Fauerbach (Tyler), children Lilly, Owen and Liesel and niece Emily 
Valdez (Eric), children Margot and Beatrice, and goddaughters Anne 
Austin Pearce and Sarah Pearce and many close friends.&nbsp;

Victor lived an extraordinary life, one 
of wonder and expedition. He was a charismatic, generous, quick-witted 
friend who loved a good laugh, regularly one he started. In the presence
 of his mother Wanda, he shined in kindness, but rarely hid his 
mischievous self to Wanda’s quiet delight. Victor was a good and caring 
son, his thoughts and actions of attention and love for his mother were 
steadfast and inimitable.

He was a lover of all the finest things 
in life: books, food, flowers, music, and great conversation. He had a 
devilish twinkle in his eye that marked amusement and the threat of 
something mischievous. He entertained friends and family beautifully. 
&nbsp;If one was lucky enough to receive a note from Victor, it was worth 
saving, his care and thoughtfulness shown through exquisite penmanship.

If there was music playing, Victor 
danced with panache. If no music was playing, he might encourage singing
 a show tune or two. He could make you feel like the only one in the 
room who mattered. He loved to live in the moment and extend that moment
 from night to dawn. For Victor, it was never “the sort of night for

Victor was a devoted son, brother, uncle
 and friend to so many who will miss him, but he left us with a fortune

John Royd Olson, 75, of Yorktown Indiana, formerly of Hoxie, KS, passed 
away peacefully on Thursday, August 18, 2022, surrounded by his loving 
family.
 He was born in Chicago, Illinois to the late Lorin and Ruby (Alvig) 
Olson. John attended Lane Technical High School in Chicago, Illinois 
(School of Champions), Augustana College in Rock Island, Illinois 
(Bachelor of Arts in Math) and the University of Kansas (Master of Arts 
in Teaching Mathematics). While teaching on an emergency certificate in 
Northwest Iowa he met the love of his life Brenda (Diischer); they 
married on May 7th, 1971.
 John dedicated his life to education, he loved and cared for his 
students and enjoyed the company of his fellow educators. He taught at 
Hoxie High School in Hoxie, Kansas for 30 years. While teaching at Hoxie
 High he spent all 30 years as the student council advisor. Following 
his tenure at Hoxie High, John taught upper-level math at Colby 
Community College for 17 years in Colby, Kansas. Additionally, he served
 as the college sponsor of Phi Delta Phi Honor Society. He was a member 
of Phi Delta Kappa, a national fraternity of educators. 
 He was dedicated to his family; he looked forward to spring break 
and summer holidays traveling with the kids and grandkids. His family 
always included his “pups,” his heart had endless love for all of them.
 In his spare time, John could be found in the basement woodworking 
or doing improvements around the house. He enjoyed decorating the house 
for Halloween and Christmas. He loved to travel, attend theater, 
museums, and amusement parks with his family. All of these improvements,
 decorations or family members often were the subject of his 
photographic endeavors. There wasn’t a chair that he couldn’t rest his 
eyes in. 
 He is survived by his wife Brenda, sons Peter (Amy), Matthew 
(Carlie), Daughter-in-law Barbara Lewis (Jared), and grandchildren 
Hunter, Connor, Rylee, Bentley, and Liam. Also, his current pups, Cooper
 and Zoey.
 He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Peter Lind.

 A Memorial Service will be held in Hoxie, Kansas, at Mickey Leopold 
Funeral Home on Monday August 29th, at 10:30 AM. Lunch at the Hoxie

William T. Bulinski, 69, died on Thursday August 18, 2022, at his 
daughter’s home in Ashland. He was born on December 21, 1952, at 
Jackson, Michigan, the son of Edmund Thomas &amp; Billie Ann (Thrasher) 
Bulinski. He married Ellen DeAnne McKenna on June 15, 1985, at Sharon 
Springs. She died on July 24, 2022. 
Bill completed his schooling at Maryville High School in Maryville, 
Arizona. He worked as a landscaper in several different places and 
moved to Dighton in 1981. He was a longtime employee of Lane County, 
serving as maintenance director of Lane County Courthouse, Lane County 
Road Department and Lane County Landfill. He enjoyed fishing, hunting 
and his water garden. 
He is survived by his Children- Stanley Bulinski of Dighton, Sean 
Bulinski of Emporia, Amy Piedra of Dighton and Jaime Ortiz of Ashland, 
Step-Children- James Warner of Ashland and Dani Applegate of 
Jacksonville, Arkansas, Mother- Billie Bulinski of Apache Junction,

2022, in Scott County, Kansas.&nbsp; He was born on June 28, 2004, in Scott 
City, Kansas, the son of Micheal Dale Redburn and Loreena Stephanie 
Johnson.&nbsp; Issac was born in Scott City and moved to Haviland, Kansas at 
an early age until June of 2022 when he moved back to Scott City, 
Kansas.&nbsp; He was a Clerk and Cook at Casey’s General Store.

Issac was a member of the Friends Chapel in Haviland, Kansas, and was
 a past member of the FFA.&nbsp; Issac was a Kansas City Chiefs fan.

Kathryn had recently moved to Sterling Village after 65 years in 
Scott City, Kansas.&nbsp; She called Scott City home but couldn't wait to be 
called home by her Lord and Savior.&nbsp; She was a member of the First 
Baptist Church in Scott City, Kansas.

On April 15, 1956, she married Don&nbsp;Taylor in Leoti, Kansas.&nbsp; He passed away on July 9, 2016, in Scott City, Kansas.

Survivors include her Three Sons - Steve &amp; Jennifer Taylor of 
Garden City, Kansas, Dennis &amp; LeAnn Taylor of Goodland, Kansas, Lynn
 &amp; Traci Taylor of Sterling, Kansas, One Brother - Dale &amp; 
Dorothea Appl of Leoti, Kansas, and Two Sister In Laws - Carol Wilson of
 Manzanola, Colorado, Wilma Taylor of Sedalia, Missouri, Eight 
Grandchildren, and Twelve Great Grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her Parents, Husband, and One Brother.

Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, August 23, 
2022, at the Scott County Cemetery in Scott City, Kansas with Adam 
Taylor presiding.

Amy Ellen Casper, age 81, of Hays, 
Kansas, passed away Sunday, August 14, 2022, in Hays. She was born June 
23, 1941, in Paradise, Kansas, to Harold and Amy (Corwin) Thacker.

Amy was a homemaker and enjoyed quilting, sewing, jigsaw puzzles and especially her family.

She is survived by a son, Wilbur Casper
 and special friend Sheri Sammons of Russell; a daughter, Lorretta Keene
 and husband Ed of Fulton, Missouri; a brother, Harold Dean Thacker of 
Wichita, Kansas; four grandchildren, Hiedi, Amy, Arianna and Andon as 
well as one great grandchild, Nicholi.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Ernest and Lester Thacker.

Graveside Memorial Services will be 11:00 AM on Saturday, August 27, 2022, in the Bunker Hill Cemetery.

Disputanta, Va., resident, Jason Edward Revello was born Sept 19, 1982, in Tucson, Arizona to Yolanda Revello of Victoria, Texas. He passed away at Southside Regional Hospital on Tuesday, August 16, 2022. Jason was 39 years of age.

Jason worked as a bartender in Corpus Christi, Texas to pay his way through culinary school. He came from a long line of Italian chefs, and he was Going to be the next great one. He graduated from Corden Blue Culinary arts school in Houston, Texas, with a bachelor’s in culinary arts and an Associates in Business management. He won several awards for his excellent cooking and barbecuing. He has been pictured in Texas monthly for his cooking and was nominated into the Biz Marquees Who’s who. He was also featured in the Favorite Chef Competition and made it the semifinals against chefs from around the world. At the time of his passing, he was an Assistant General Manager for Wendy’s Pilot Co.

Survived by his loving wife Mercedes Weber of Disputanta, Virginia. He had six children Earth Romana Wyman age 20 of Kansas City Missouri, Falken Raie Revello Age 18 of Victoria, Texas, Caleb Edward Revello Age 16 of Victoria, Texas, Elijah Edward Revello Age 14 of Victoria, Texas, Nathaniel Roger Revello Age 2 of Disputanta, Virginia, Freya Mae Revello Age 1 of Disputanta, Virginia. His Stepfather David VanderFord of Victoria, Texas. His grandmother Deloris Revello of Tucson, Arizona. His twin brother Joseph Revello of Victoria, Texas and younger brother Jacob Lehman and his wife Tiffany Lehman of Ellis, Kansas. His grandson Lucien Michael Wyman age 1 of Kansas City, Missouri. His nieces and nephews Kelsey, John, Jayden, Christian, and Jerimiah.

James William Beer, 70, passed away August 18, 2022, at his home in Larned.

He was born July 10, 1952, in Larned, the son of Wayne Eugene and Esther Alice Conard Beer.

A lifetime area resident, he was of the Methodist faith. He was a 
fabricator for Doerr Metal and worked in the power plant at Larned State
 Hospital. He attended Hutchinson Community College and was a member of 
the American Legion Auxiliary and the VFW Auxiliary.

Survivors include: two brothers, Steven W. (Sharlou Messerschmidt) 
Beer, Wichita, Robert E. Beer, Telluride, Colorado; sister, Jeanne Beer,
 Larned; three nephews, Kevin Beer, Kyle Beer, Danny Sherrid; three 
nieces, Tonya Long, Sabrina Quinn, Stephanie Yahne; and numerous great 
nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, John F. Beer, and sister, Onalee E. Sherrid.

Cremation has taken place and no services are planned at this time.

 died August 15, 2022, at the Presbyterian Manor in Topeka.
 She was born June 20, 1940, in Norton County, Kansas, the daughter of Ross Eugene and Irma Hilda (Colip) Severns.
 Margaret graduated from Norton High School and then from Kansas State University with her bachelors in Home Economics.
 She worked as a Personal Banker at FirstBank in Manhattan for many
 years. Margaret also worked as the Food Service Director at Manhattan 
Christian College, spent a year in Austria preparing meals at Haus 
Edelweiss for TCM, and various retail positions. After college Margaret 
worked as a county extension agent for Gove County, Kansas.
 Margaret was a member of Crestview Christian Church, P.E.O. – IU Chapter and former chairperson of the Missions Committee. 
 She enjoyed arts and crafts, sewing and was a huge Kansas State athletics fan.
 She was married to Charles Stewart and they later divorced. She 
later married Robert A. “Bob” Leonard on January 1, 1993, at Crestview 
Christian Church. Mr. Leonard preceded her in death on December 1, 
2015.
 Survivors include two children: Kevin Stewart, his wife Kelli, and
 Jana Selley and her husband Rob of Topeka; four grandchildren: Bryan 
Stewart, Ashley Stewart, Bo Selley, and Jeremy Selley and his wife 
Miranda; a great-granddaughter, Stevie Oden, and a brother: Virgil 
Severns and his wife Anne of Fairbanks, AK.
 Margaret’s parents preceded her in death in 1996, and her brother Wilmer Severns in 2021.

Margaret Viora (Severns) Leonard

Marilyn Esther (Marcotte) Rassette went to the heavens August 
12th, 2022. Marilyn was born in Oakley, Kansas, on December 13th, 1937. 
In her youth, she lived in Ellsworth, Wilson and Salina where she 
graduated from Sacred Heart High School.

Marilyn married Ronald Rassette on May 18, 1957. Together, they had 
three children:&nbsp; Angela Rassette (Jennifer) of Wichita. Michael (Terri) 
and their children, Alison, Lance &amp; Lawson of Salina. Ronald Jr 
(Randa) and their children, Trey &amp; Tory of Overland Park, Ks.

Marilyn is preceded in death by her husband Ronald Rassette. Her 
parents Archie and Aermine Marcotte. Siblings: Francis Marcotte, Wilma 
Jean Marcotte, Dorothy Dozier, Donna Miller, and Vernon Marcotte.

Marilyn’s surviving siblings are Pauline Zvolanek, Mary Harris, Kathy
 Tidwell, William (Bill) Marcotte, Robert (Bob) Marcotte, Virginia 
Wakulich, JoAnn Phanenstiel and Kenny Marcotte.

Marilyn was a home-maker for most of her life until she went to work 
for USD 305 food service. She completed 24 years of service in 2006 
where she retired from USD 305 ending her career at Lakewood Middle 
School.

Marilyn is best known for her sweet, loving heart…especially for her 
grandchildren. To many, she was only known as “Grandma.” Together, with 
Ronald (a.k.a. Grandpa), they loved to attend any activity Alison, 
Lance, Lawson, Trey or Tory were involved in… whether it was soccer, 
basketball, football, baseball and pretty much every school event. She 
loved watching all of her grandchildren participate and show off their 
talents. If someone needed to contact “Grandma”, she probably could be 
found next to a court, or by a ball field watching with a big smile on 
her face.

The funeral will take place at 10 a.m. Saturday, August 27th, at St. 
Mary Queen of the Universe Catholic Church located at 230 E. Cloud. 
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, August 26th, at Ryan 
Mortuary. A rosary will be at 6 p.m. with the family present from 6:30 
to 8. &nbsp;

Wakulich, JoAnn Phanenstiel and Kenny Marcotte.Marilyn was a home-maker for most of her life until she went to work 
for USD 305 food service. She completed 24 years of service in 2006 
where she retired from USD 305 ending her career at Lakewood Middle 
School.Marilyn is best known for her sweet, loving heart…especially for her 
grandchildren. To many, she was only known as “Grandma.” Together, with 
Ronald (a.k.a. Grandpa), they loved to attend any activity Alison, 
Lance, Lawson, Trey or Tory were involved in… whether it was soccer, 
basketball, football, baseball and pretty much every school event. She 
loved watching all of her grandchildren participate and show off their 
talents. If someone needed to contact “Grandma”, she probably could be 
found next to a court, or by a ball field watching with a big smile on 
her face.The funeral will take place at 10 a.m. Saturday, August 27th, at St. 
Mary Queen of the Universe Catholic Church located at 230 E. Cloud. 
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, August 26th, at Ryan 
Mortuary. A rosary will be at 6 p.m. with the family present from 6:30

Larry Laverne Bernard was called to his Heavenly Home on August 17th, 2022 with family by his side.&nbsp; He was born on August 15, 1953, in Imperial, NE to Marlin &amp; Pat Bernard.&nbsp; &nbsp;

Larry was a lifelong educator who enjoyed his roles as a teacher, coach, and principal.&nbsp; He graduated from Osborne High School and continued his studies in education graduating from Fort Hays State University.&nbsp; He retired from Russell High School as the principal in 2017 after over 40 years in education. &nbsp;Outside of serving his community, Larry also had a passion for riding horses, flying his plane, and drawing simple sketches for all to enjoy.&nbsp; Most of all he loved spending time with his family!&nbsp; He was always looking for a chance to take them to a movie, take them swimming, catch a Nebraska football game, help build anything, shoot a gun, drink some coffee and they never left his home hungry!&nbsp; Larry loved his family!&nbsp;

Larry was preceded in death by his father Marlin Bernard.&nbsp;

Esther Eva Mellies, 98, died August 18, 2022, in Dodge City, KS. She 
was born on January 30, 1924, in WaKenney, Kansas, the daughter of Henry 
and Mollie (Schneider) Stenzel. &nbsp;

Esther grew up on a farm in WaKeeney and attended schools in Trego 
County. She moved to Dodge City in 1946 and has been a resident ever 
since. She married Edward Mellies on October 19, 1957, at the Messiah 
Lutheran Church in Dodge City, KS. She owned and operated Esther’s 
Beauty Salon until 1973. Esther was a homemaker and enjoyed doing arts 
and crafts.

She was a member of Christ the King Lutheran Church and served in 
various women’s associations with the church and other church 
activities.

Esther is survived by many nieces and nephews and many extended 
family and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents; loving 
husband; nine brothers; two sisters; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held at Christ the King Lutheran Church on 
Tuesday, August 23, 2022, with Pastor Corky Spittler presiding. Burial 
will follow at Greencrest Memorial Garden in Dodge City, KS.&nbsp; Visitation
 will be at Swaim Funeral Chapel on Monday, August 22, 2022, from 12:00 
P.M. to 8:00 P.M. the casket will remain closed.&nbsp;

Duane E. Harper, age 76, of Waucoma, IA passed away on Wednesday, August
 17, 2022 with his wife by his side at Country Winds Manor in Cresco, 
IA.
 A memorial service will be held AT 10:30 am on Saturday, August 27, 
2022 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Stapleton, IA with Pastor Laurie 
Ludin-Nelson officiating the service. Burial will follow at St. John’s 
Cemetery at Stapleton. 
 There will be a one hour visitation at the church prior to the 
memorial service on Saturday, August 27, 2022. Online condolences may be

 Duane Eugene was born May 12, 1946, the son of Eldon and Fern 
(Folkerts) Harper in Hoisington, KS. He was raised on the Harper Family
 Century farm in Albert, KS. Duane0 attended school and graduated from 
Otis High School. After completing his education, Duane attended Fort 
Hays State University where he earned his Master’s Degrees in Business 
and Accounting. In 1968, Duane enlisted in the United States Army 
Reserves. He proudly served his country as a Senior Drill instructor 
and achieved the rank of Sergeant First Class prior to his honorable 
discharge in 1974.

Upon his return home, Duane began his lifelong 
profession as an educator where he taught his passion of business. In 
1986, through a chance meeting, Duane bumped into a young, Charleen 
Dudley. The couple became friends and were united in marriage on March 
26, 1988. Duane lovingly welcomed Charleen’s children, Elizabeth and 
Christopher. Together the family welcomed daughters, Victoria, Meredith
 and Monica. The family has lived in Kansas and Texas and has called 
Iowa “home” since 2000 when he accepted a job at Upper Iowa University
 until his retirement in 2010. 
 When Duane wasn’t sharing his passion in the classroom, he was eager
 to share his love of collectable cars and tractors with his family and 
friends. Duane was also a seasoned distance runner logging up to 16 
miles per day until he was 50 years of age when his health no longer 
allowed him to run. He went on to coach his children in cross country 
and track. He could often be found at local cross country events. Duane
 was also a proud cancer survivor, fighting prostate and pancreatic 
cancers. His family was his pride and joy and loved every moment shared
 with his wife, children and grandchildren. He’s been a lifelong 
Lutheran who was always active in his church.
 Those left to cherish Duane’s memories are his wife, Charleen Harper
 of Waucoma, IA; his children, Elizabeth Peterson of Norman, OK, 
Christopher (Justin Jensen) Dudley of Independence, MO, Victoria 
(Marshall) Halverson of Altoona, IA, Meredith (Layne) Huber of Algona,

Gertrude Mae (Tholen) Brown, age 100, of Hays, Kansas died Wednesday, August 17, 2022, at the Midland Hospice House in Topeka, Kansas.&nbsp;

She was born in Topeka, Kansas on March 7th,&nbsp;1922, to Anton and Anna&nbsp;(Muehlenkamp)&nbsp;Tholen. &nbsp;She&nbsp;spent most of her childhood in Oakley, Kansas, and graduated from &nbsp;Windhorst&nbsp;High School.&nbsp;She married Noah Brown on October&nbsp;7th,&nbsp;1945, in&nbsp;Salina,&nbsp;Kansas.&nbsp;He preceded her in death on April 15, 1985.

Gertrude owned and&nbsp;operated&nbsp;The Rose Beauty Shop out of the home while she and Noah raised their family&nbsp;in&nbsp;Hays.&nbsp;She had a green thumb,&nbsp;so there was always a bountiful vegetable garden, flowers blooming and a unique collection of houseplants at her home.&nbsp;Gertrude could sew, knit and crochet skillfully, but her passion was quilting. &nbsp;Every baby in the family slept under a crib quilt and received larger quilts as adults.&nbsp;She won many ribbons at the county and state fairs for her beautiful creations.

A devout Catholic, Gertrude was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic&nbsp;Church&nbsp;and a former member of the Christian Mothers,&nbsp;both of Hays.&nbsp;&nbsp;She donated her quilts to the church to benefit a home for unwed mothers and for auction to benefit the Altar Society.&nbsp;&nbsp;

After her children were grown, Gertrude continued working in her salon,&nbsp;gardening,sewing and always made room for her grandchildren in her home. &nbsp;After retiring&nbsp;in 1994she became an avid reader and continued her other hobbies as&nbsp;well.&nbsp;In&nbsp;2020,&nbsp;Gertrude moved to Topeka and spent her remaining years being cared for by her daughter, Janice. &nbsp;

 Arnold, Kansas.&nbsp; He was born on February 19, 1961, in Garden City, 
Kansas, the son of Roy and Charlotte (Chapman) Martin.

Rodney, known as Rod or Barney by friends and family, worked in the 
oilfield for most of his adult life. Most recently, he worked as a pumper
 for Gerald Walker of Dighton. He was a member of the Sunley-Squier Post
 No. 382 Sons of the American Legion. He was a proud father and 
grandfather. He loved to ride his motorcycles, taking his grandson, 
Brendon to Sturgis in 2013. He was interested in paleontology and would 
often search for sharks’ teeth and fossils, boasting many finds and 
small treasures.

Survivors include: Terry Watson, ex-wife and mother of his daughter, 
Tifini (Trent) Shull of WaKeeney; ex-wife, Carol Hatman; 3 stepchildren,
 Jennifer, Billie Jean, Heather; 2 sisters, DeAnna (Ken) Hayes of 
Wichita, Monica (Trae) Kleymann of Sedgwick; 4 nephews, Josh Dumler, 
T.J. Kleymann, Michael Kleymann, Stephen Kleymann; 1 niece, April Roy; 5
 grandchildren, Brendon Martin, Alexis Chapman (Mason Jasper), Jessika 
Chapman, Jeremiah Foskuhl, Martin Shull; and 1 great-grandchild, 
Calcifer Jasper.&nbsp; He was preceded in death by his parents.

Cremation has occurred. A memorial service has not yet been planned.

Kurt Sullivan Voss, age 65, passed away
 Sunday, August 14, 2022, at Hays Medical Center. He was born April 13, 
1957, in Augsburg, Germany, to Donald Eugene and Joyce Lee (Gilland) 
Voss.

Kurt obtained a bachelor’s degree in 
Biochemistry from Kansas State University as well as a Masters in 
Astronomy from New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology. This 
allowed him to become a Level Three science and math teacher in New 
Mexico. In addition to being a dedicated teacher, he was an avid 
stargazer in his spare time. Kurt also enjoyed investing and would often
 give advice to friends and loved ones.

Besides being a devoted math and 
science educator, Kurt was also a beloved son, brother, father, and 
uncle. He was known by many for his wonderful sense of humor and caring 
but honest advice. Kurt also enjoyed watching Royals baseball as well as
 Kansas State football. He was an avid follower of his daughter's family
 farm and farmer's market activities. Kurt touched many lives by simply 
showing love and compassion.

Kurt was preceded in death by his father, Donald Voss and his sister, Leanne Pollreis.

Kurt leaves behind his mother, Joyce 
Voss of Wichita KS, his sister, Leslie LaFoy (David) of Peabody KS and 
brother-in-law Randy Pollreis of Walnut KS. He also leaves three 
children, Sarah Voss of Dallas TX, Adrienne Hasart (Josh) of Bethune CO,
 and Don Voss of Fayetteville AR. Kurt had two grandchildren Natalie 
Hasart and John Hasart. He leaves five nephews, Garrett LaFoy (Zuheily) 
of San Antonio TX, Gavin Pollreis, Dominic Pollreis, Colby Pollreis and 
Arthur Pollreis.

A Celebration of life service will be

Kurt S. Voss

Clifton Wade Rodriguez, 35, passed away August 18, 2022, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.

He was born July 16, 1987, in Elkhart, the son of Larry Eduardo Rodriguez and Laura Kay Ash.

A longtime area resident, he was a tire shop technician at Sebes Tire
 in Larned. He enjoyed hunting, shooting, fishing, camping, and all 
things outdoors. He loved spending time with his friends and family.

On May 15, 2015, he married Evette Hostetler in Canon City, Colorado; she survives.

Other survivors include: two daughters, Rionna Rodriguez, Great Bend,
 Lydia Collins Rodriguez, Kinsley; seven brothers, Michael (Shauna) 
Hester, Larned, Wesley Rodriguez, Larned, Larry Hester, Great Falls,

Michael Eugene Estes, 77, passed away August 17, 2022, at Stafford County Hospital, Stafford.

He was born in Hominy, Oklahoma, the son of Arlie Calvin “Buck” and Dolores Irene Jaynes Estes.

A longtime area resident, he was a member of the First Christian 
Church in Great Bend, International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers: 
IBEW Local 304, Mack Flying Club, and a lifetime member of the National 
Benchrest Shooters Association. At six years old he was baptized at the 
First Christian Church, Great Bend, with his mom, dad, and sister, all 
on the same day. He graduated from Great Bend High School in 1963 and 
attended Kansas State University. Following his college graduation, he 
enlisted in the Army National Guard from 1966 to 1972 and attended 
training in Fort Campbell, Kentucky, home of the 101st 
Airborne. &nbsp;He was a Foreman for the City of St. John Electrical 
Department, then later worked for PAR Electric where he retired after 
20+ years. In his spare time, he enjoyed flying model airplanes, 
benchrest shooting, model boats, fishing, and spending time with his 
family.

Survivors include: his daughter, Kalla (Mike Jr.) Miller, Stafford, 
and four grandchildren: Mason, Westen, Wyatt, and McKay; his friend, 
Carol Martin and their two dogs, Desirea and Luna Belle.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Virena Walls, and brother-in-law, Tommy Walls.

Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 24, 2022 at 
Beckwith Mortuary Chapel, Larned, with Pastor Wade Russell presiding. 
Visitation will be 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 23, 2022 at 
Beckwith Mortuary, Larned. Burial will be in Great Bend Cemetery.
