On July 31, 2022, Harry Zaborski, of Colby, formerly of Goodland, 
entered into eternal rest at the age of 99 years old. Harry led a joyful
 life filled with faith, family and an unquenchable love of the 
outdoors. He was born September 11, 1922, in Toledo, Ohio to Walter and 
Lottie and the oldest son of six siblings. He attended Nativity Catholic
 School. The effects of the Depression made employment scarce, and Harry
 needed to help support his family. At the age of 15 he joined Civilian 
Conservation Corp, which provided work under President Franklin 
Roosevelt. 
His unit was deployed to the mountains of Montana joining the many young
 men from all over the county to replenish the millions of trees in the 
forest lands made barren from fires and lumbering. Harry often talks of 
this experience as having a major influence on his life surrounded by 
the beauty of “Mother Earth.” 
After two years in Montana, Harry returned to his family in Ohio where 
he found work at Willey’s Overland on an assembly line building Jeeps 
for our military’s use overseas. It was here that Harry met his future 
bride, Miss Helen Bitker. 
During this time, World War II was raging overseas and in 1943, Harry, 
along with five of his best pals, enlisted in the United States Army. 
Due to his prior experience at Willey’s Overland, Harry was assigned to 
be a mechanic for the military’s wheeled vehicles with a rank of CPL/T5.
 During his deployment, he served in Normandy, France, the Ardennes, 
Belgium, and Rhineland, Germany. He never spoke of the horrific battles 
and war experience keeping those dark memories and scars hidden, other 
than to say that he would never forget his five closest friends who did 
not make it home. 
Upon discharge, Harry and Helen were married on October 27, 1945, in 
Aberdeen, Maryland, settling back in Toledo, Ohio. Longing for the 
mountains of his youth, Harry and his family eventually relocated to 
Denver, Colorado where he made his living as an electrical and 
maintenance supervisor for the Public Service Company of Colorado. He 
enjoyed golfing and fishing trips with the family in the Rocky 
Mountains. 
Harry was a member of the Knights of Columbus, which sponsored many 
activities at St. Clara’s Orphanage. Harry and Helen always looked 
forward to inviting 2 or 3 children from the orphanage to spend the 
holidays with their family. 
Upon retirement, the couple moved to Brewster, KS. After 38 years of 
marriage, the couple separated, but because of their faith, never 
divorced. Harry moved to Goodland to be close to his daughter Judy and 
her family. He was always busy volunteering at OLPH Catholic Church, 
building birdhouses, biking, fishing, golfing and bird watching. He 
enjoyed drawing pictures, scrapbooking and telling stories. He had a 
tremendous imagination that entertained the grandkids with silliness and
 laughter. 
He never met a stranger and was appreciative of all the kindhearted 
folks of Sherman County who would always take time to stop and visit 
with “this old grandpa Poppi,” while pedaling around town. Eventually, 
moving to Prairie Senior Living complex in Colby, he was very 
appreciative for the elder care under Dr. Matchell, Brian Unruh, and the
 nursing staff while enjoying the many activities provided by the 
community. 
Harry was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Lottie; six 
siblings; Daniel, Helen, Doris, Christine, Alice and Gloria, of Ohio, 
wife Helen and daughter, Joanne Stephens. Survivors include daughter 
Judy (Jim) McKee, of Brewster, son-in-law Paul Stephens, of Colby, 11 
grandkids, 32 great grandkids and 4 great-great grandchildren. 
There will be a Rosary at 9:30 a.m. CST, followed by the Funeral Mass at
 10:00 a.m. CST Saturday, August 6, 2022, at Sacred Heart Catholic 
Church, in Colby, with Father Brian Lager officiating, followed by 
interment at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, Colby.

Claudia Ann Stevenson, 78, passed away with her 
family by her side on July 29, 2022.&nbsp; She was born in Denver, CO on 
August 13, 1943, to Isadore Pfannenstiel and Kathryn Braun.

Claudia was a strong woman who was a breast cancer survivor. She seen
 the good in almost everyone. She made lots of friends throughout her 
years of working in the family businesses and had a smile for everyone.&nbsp;
 She retired in 1999 to provide child care for her grandsons.&nbsp; She 
enjoyed making donations to several charities throughout the years.&nbsp; She
 was an avid book reader and loved playing Yahtzee.

She loved her family thoroughly and loved the family get togethers.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Cheryl Taylor; and son, Brian Beasley Sr.

She is survived by her husband, Don; her children, LaLoni Coble 
(Ron), Tohnya Davis (Dennis), William Beasley, DeLynn Burdick, Michael 
Beasley and the grandson that she raised, Brian Beasley Jr.; her 
stepchildren, Dennis Stevenson (Rita) and Linda Gray (Bill); her 
siblings, Leon Pfannenstiel, Carol White (Paul) and Jerome Pfannenstiel 
(Sharon); 14 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 13, 2022, at Sunset Park Shelter #1.

Deanna Guardiola, 59, died July 28, 2022 in Hays, Kansas. She was born 
September 6, 1962, in Ulysses, Kansas, to Alberto and Martha (Garcia) 
Orosco. 
Deanna lived all her life in Southwest Kansas. She and Ramon were 
married over 30 years. He survives. She worked for the hospital as a 
dietary aide and later owning a trucking company. She enjoyed camping 
in the mountains of Colorado and proved to be a bear whisperer during 
one encounter. She had an open door, open table and open heart. 
Spoiling her grandchildren brought her the most enjoyment. 
In addition to Ramon, she is survived by her daughter- Laura Guardiola; 
grandchildren-David, AJ, Aubrie, Austin &amp; Levi; Siblings-Daniel and 
Carmen Orosco, Berta &amp; Ruben Gonzalez, Tina Roulier &amp; Bobby 
&amp; Kim Rayas &amp; numerous friends &amp; extended family. 
She was preceded in death by her two sons-Eric and Marcos; brother- Elijio Orosco and parents-Alberto and Martha Orosco.

Densmore resident Angela D. Schick passed away Sunday, July 31, 2022, at 
the Kearney Regional Medical Center in Kearney, NE, at the age of 49.&nbsp; 
She was born in Norton on May, 17, 1973, to Alvin and Alta Griffin.&nbsp;

She is preceded in death by her brothers Kevin and Kenneth Griffin, and sisters Gwendolyn, Barbara, and Brenda Griffin.

She is survived by her husband, Brian Schick of Densmore, KS, and 
sisters Teresa Griffin of Logan, KS, and Debra Hogan and husband Justin 
of Densmore, KS.

Funeral services will be held Friday, August 5, at 2:00 p.m. in the 
Olliff Boeve Memorial Chapel, Phillipsburg, with Pastor Becky Saddler 
officiating.&nbsp; Burial will follow at the Pleasant View Cemetery in Logan,
 KS. Following the burial the family will be gathering at 4:30 p.m. in 
the Bullseye Event Center in Norton where they will receive friends and 
family.

Mrs. Schick will lie in-state Wednesday from 5 – 9 p.m. and Thursday

Terry D. Draper, age 75, of Edison, Nebraska, passed peacefully on July 
30, 2022, after a brief battle with cancer. He arrived in this world on 
June 9, 1947, born to Donal “Dale” and Viletha (Hougnon) Draper in 
Holdrege, Nebraska. 
Terry made his home in Edison his entire life. Being an only child, his 
neighbors and friends were very important to him. He graduated 8th grade
 from Edison Public School, then transferred to Arapahoe High School 
where he graduated in 1965. Terry was a standout in athletics and went 
on to play football at McCook Junior College, in McCook, Nebraska, where
 he graduated in 1967. 
Terry married his high school sweetheart, Jeanette Debban on February 5,
 1966, in Arapahoe. Terry and Jeanette celebrated 56 years of marriage 
this year. To this union two children were born, Jodi and Chad. 
Terry spent his life working in agriculture. He farmed near Edison and 
Beaver City. He enjoyed feeding cattle and hauling grain. At one time he
 had 800 head of sheep, about which many funny stories can be told. He 
passed his love for agriculture to his son, Chad and grandson, JD. 
Terry treasured his Sunday morning coffee with any friend who stopped by
 his famous garage. He also loved Nebraska Cornhusker football, and you 
could always count on the Husker game to be on (sometimes only for a 
while, depending on the score) at his house. Terry was very proud of his
 grandson, Noah Stafursky (#62) who currently plays for the Huskers. 
Terry enjoyed his time spent camping, either at the lake or at JD’s 
rodeo events throughout his high school and college careers. Terry was 
particularly proud of JD’s third-place finish at the 2019 National 
Intercollegiate Rodeo Association finals. Terry and Jeanette enjoyed 
visiting south Texas for part of the winter the last few years. 
Terry lived a life full of family and friends. He loved his 
grandchildren and was very proud of their achievements. He will be 
fondly remembered as being a loving Husband, Father, Grandfather, 
Neighbor and Friend. Even though he was famous for gritting his teeth, 
he had a soft heart and was the first to help anyone. 
Terry was preceded in death by his parents and his in-laws, Orvin A. and
 Twyla Debban. Terry is survived by his wife, Jeanette, of Edison; 
daughter, Jodi Draper, of York, Nebraska; son, Chad (Kelly) Draper, of

Douglas (Tank) Brent&nbsp;Tongish, 72, passed away&nbsp;on&nbsp;Wednesday&nbsp;July 27, 2022, in Goodland, KS.

Doug&nbsp;was born on November 7, 1949, in St. Francis, KS to Harold and Joan (Hopkins)&nbsp;Tongish. He&nbsp;grew up in McDonald, KS. He attended school all 12 years at McDonald grade and McDonald Rural High School.

On April 12, 1980, he married Mary C. Cunningham at&nbsp;Tiede&nbsp;Farms in Goodland, KS.

He worked at Great Western Sugar Beet Factory many years, before moving to Helena Chemical. He retired&nbsp;from Helena Chemical at age 65. He spent his retirement years fishing, camping and riding his Harley. His heath in the past few years had failed him. He enjoyed talking and visiting with his many friends and family.

Preceding him&nbsp;in death&nbsp;is&nbsp;his wife Mary&nbsp;Tongish, his father Harold&nbsp;Tongish, and his grandparents Herman and Catherine&nbsp;Tongish&nbsp;and Ellis and Olga Hopkins.

He is&nbsp;survived by his mother Joan (Hopkins)&nbsp;Tongish&nbsp;of Atwood, KS. Sister Cheryl Jo&nbsp;Beamgard(Richard) of Detroit, MI, Brother&nbsp;Micheal&nbsp;Andrew&nbsp;Tongish&nbsp;(Diana) of Atwood, KS&nbsp;, stepdaughter Jamie (Cody)&nbsp;Mattheyer&nbsp;(Preston) of Wakeeney, KS.&nbsp;Granddaughters Mikayla (Cody)&nbsp;Martin (Maleeke)&nbsp;and K<a></a>atelyn Cody, Great-Granddaughters,&nbsp;Mikiah&nbsp;and&nbsp;Maelyn&nbsp;Martin.

Douglas 'Tank' Brent Tongish

Roy Everett Howell, age 96, passed away on Friday, July 29, 2022, at 
the Greeley County Hospital in Tribune, Kansas. He was born on October 
16, 1925, in Elkhart, Kansas, to Charlie Maddison and Bessie Stewart 
Howell. He was a resident of Tribune since 1951 where he was a farmer 
and rancher and a member of the First Baptist Church and the VFW. 
Everett served on the Greeley County Extension Board, the Greeley County
 Hospital Board, and the Greeley County Farm Bureau Board. He also 
served his community as a 4-H leader, Fair supporter, and Recycling 
Center organizer.

Everett proudly served his nation as a member of the United States 
Marine Corps during World War II from January 19, 1944, to May 8, 1946.&nbsp;
 After enlisting he went to communication school.&nbsp; While in Boot Camp, 
he qualified as a Marksman on the M1 rifle.&nbsp; During this time, his first
 tour of duty was the start of the invasion of Iwo Jima.&nbsp; His job was to
 string telephone wires during his time in Japan and China.&nbsp; He was 
wounded in action while he was there.&nbsp; Everett witnessed the famous 
raising of the American flag on Mount Suribachi.&nbsp; Everett was awarded 
the Purple Heart when he was honorably discharged on May 8th, 1946.&nbsp; His
 rank upon discharge was Corporal. &nbsp; Of the 20 months he served, 6 
months of it was spent on the troopships on the sea traveling.&nbsp; As a 
result, he did not like the water.&nbsp;

On May 18, 1950, Everett married Carol Borden in Goodwell, Oklahoma. She passed away on March 16, 2007.

Survivors include his son, Danny &amp; Brittany Howell of LaCrosse, 
Kansas, his daughter, Debbie Wise of Fowler, Kansas, one 
daughter-in-law, Jamie Howell of Lenexa, Kansas,&nbsp; two sisters-in-law, 
Violet Howell of Lovington, New Mexico, Edna Howell of Mansfield, Texas,
 nine grandchildren and their spouses, and fourteen great-grandchildren.

Everett was preceded in death by his parents, wife, children - Everly
 &amp; Steve Oakes, Larry Howell, son-in-law - Scott Wise, and his 
siblings - Myrtle Riggs, Dora Mae Rammage, Cecil Howell, TJ Howell, and 
Jerald Howell.

The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 2, 2022, at 
2:00 P.M. (MST) at the First Baptist Church in Tribune, Kansas with 
pastors Shannon Schneider and Billy Ed Rammage presiding. Service will 
be live-streamed at www.priceandsons.com.

Burial will be in the Greeley County Cemetery in Tribune, Kansas.

Ann was borne May 16, 1953, in Hays 
Kansas, the first daughter and third child of Lillian and Edward Konek. 
The family eventually grew to a total of ten including six girls and 
four boys. Ann’s dad was a career military man and the family was sent 
to Washington State where they lived in the Tacoma area and for a few 
years on the Washington Peninsula. 
Ann attended the first two years of high school before the family moved 
to Spokane. She finished high school days at Marcliff. After high school,&nbsp; Ann entered the nursing program at Deaconess school of nursing. While 
attending Spokane Falls Community College, She met her husband to be 
Jim. After Ann graduated from nursing school, she married her sweetheart 
Jim on June 15, 1974, and they began their journey together. 
They moved several times before settling in Spokane in 1985.Along the 
way their children Jennifer and Matthew were born and their lives were 
busy with running a sprinkler business, attending Deacon formation. 
After retirement Ann and Jim traveled to many different places. Her 
favorite was the Oregon coast. Ann was a shutter bug and took many 
beautiful pictures which she shared with family and friends.

survived by husband Jim, Daughter Jennifer (Mark) grandsons Ethan and 
Brendan, son Matthew, Special doggie Mikey. Her siblings Frances

preceded her in death on January 3, 1995. Mary Jane was a graduate of Sharon High School. She was a farmer/rancher and housewife.

on Wednesday evening, July 27, 2022, at Pawnee Valley Community Hospital 
in Larned, Kansas.&nbsp; “Jan” was born on June 24, 1954, at WaKeeney, Kansas 
to Marvin and Anita (Waggoner) Middleton.&nbsp; She graduated from Hill City 
High School at Hill City, Kansas, in 1972 and was united in marriage to 
Cory D. DeWald on August 21, 1982, at Great Bend, Kansas.&nbsp; Jan loved 
crafting and at craft shows was known as the “Kansas Shirt Lady." In 
earlier years she was a Tupperware Representative, and was part of the 
group that formed the Christmas Craft Mall Co-Op in Great Bend and took 
part in it every year since.&nbsp; She also worked in the office at Dee Dove 
Chevrolet in Great Bend (and after it became part of the Marmie Motors 
Group) for several years.&nbsp; Slot machines, bingo, and Elvis were a few of
 Jan’s passions.

Jan is survived by her husband, Cory D. DeWald of Great Bend, Kansas;

Jannifer L. DeWald

Rachel Frieda Stieben, 98, passed away on July 27, 2022, at Locust 
Grove Village in LaCrosse, Kansas.&nbsp; She was born on March 12, 1924, in 
Rural Galatia, Kansas the daughter of George and Eva (Hettinger) 
Strecker.

Rachel was a near lifetime resident of Bazine, where she was baptized
 and confirmed, raised her family, and worked alongside her husband on 
the farm. She was a member of the United Methodist Church and the United
 Methodist Women of Bazine.

She married Marvin Stieben on November 11th, 1945, in Bazine, Kansas.&nbsp; He preceded her in death on September 16, 1987.

Rachel is survived by her two daughters, Margaret Ann Maier and her 
husband, Dennis, of Bazine and Joyce Elaine Hoss and her husband, 
Harold, of Ness City; four grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and 2 
great-great-grandchildren.&nbsp; She was preceded in death by her parents; 
husband, Marvin Stieben; two brothers, Lawrence and Dick Strecker; six 
sisters, Lydia, Martha, Hermina, Hilda, Mildred, and Arlene; and one 
grandson, Scott Maier.

Funeral service will be on Monday, August 1, 2022, 10:30 AM, at 
Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Ness City, Kansas.&nbsp; Burial in the Bazine 
Cemetery, Bazine, Kansas.&nbsp; Viewing will be held at Fitzgerald Funeral 
Home on Sunday from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and prior to the service.

Mary Lee Winter, 80, passed away July 29, 2022, at Almost Home, Great
 Bend. She was born July 3, 1942, at Hays to Basil &amp; Fern (Seaman) 
Ryan. She married George Alan Winter December 21, 1963, at Hays.&nbsp;George 
passed away January 5, 2021.

She grew up near Nekoma and graduated from La Crosse High School in 
1960. She attended Fort Hays State University in Hays, where she got her
 masters degree in education and met her husband George. They moved to 
Great Bend in 1964 and she taught kindergarten at Lincoln School until 
1970. She was a member of First Assembly of God Church and was active in
 church activities over the years, teaching Sunday school and helping 
organize funeral dinners. She enjoyed reading, cooking, and spending 
time with her family. She was a good listener, and would offer 
encouragement to those in need.

Survivors include a daughter, Lisa Vance and husband Judd of Wichita;
 a son, Brad Winter; a sister, Ruth Ryan of Kansas City; and two 
grandchildren, Sara Vance and Erin Vance. She was preceded in death by 
her husband and her parents.

Graveside memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. August 5, 
2022, at Great Bend Cemetery with Pastor Dwight Dozier presiding.&nbsp; There
 will be no viewing or visitation, as cremation has taken place. 
&nbsp;

Memorials have been designated to Almost Home, Inc. or Central Kansas 
Dream Center, in care of Bryant Funeral Home.

Mary Lee Winter

Marcella Corinne Brin,&nbsp;69, passed away on July 29, 2022, peacefully 
at her home in Great Bend, Kan. She was born on September 16, 1952, in 
Hays, Kan., to Adrian and Dorothy (Harris) Tremblay. On October 17, 
1975, Marcella married Martin Brin in Hill City, Kan. He survives.

Coming from Hill City then Bazine, Marcella was a Great Bend resident
 for the past 22 years. She worked in the Hill City School cafeteria and
 the Cable Office in Plainville, before dedicating the last 30+ years to
 being a homemaker. She was a member of the Prince of Peace Parish at 
St. Rose of Lima. Marcella enjoyed gardening, rescuing all animals, 
fishing, working with kids and the elderly, baking and canning, but 
especially cherished her time with family.

Survivors include her husband of the home; two sons, Larry of Hays, 
Kan., and Anthony (Shannon) of Salina, Kan.; two daughters, Madeline 
(Michael) Bagley of Clovis, N.M. and Michelle (Jeff) Murphy of Solomon, 
Kan.; eleven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one brother, 
Leland (Debra) Tremblay; two sisters, Adrenne [Andie] (Bob) Bell and 
Carol (Jerry) Nickelson; a mother-in-law, Elaine Brin; three 
brothers-in-law, Arlen (Linda), David (Kay), and Galen Brin; two 
sisters-in-law, Sheri Webb and Mary Meade; numerous nieces and nephews. 
She is preceded in death by her parents and father-in-law.

There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place. Services 
will be set at a later date.

LaVina Ruth (Binning) Waters, 94, of McDonald, Kansas, died Thursday, 
July 28, 2022. She was born on February 4, 1928, in Brewster, Kansas to 
John and Ruth (Chrisman) Binning. She had 4 siblings: Daisy, Letha, 
Robert, and Louise. 
LaVina was married to Keith Andrews in November of 1948 and had 4 
children. In 1972 she married Fred Waters. She and Fred combined 
families and were blessed to have 5 beautiful, loving children in their 
blended family. 
LaVina and Fred have 10 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren with 1 
on the way. Family was incredibly important to her, and she had a 
special relationship with her tribe and all of those that thought of her
 as family. 
She was a cosmetologist, a self-taught cook, led Emotions Anonymous, 
worked with the Awanas, and was a partner to Fred with his counseling 
business. 
LaVina loved spending time in the mountains, making quilts with the 
McDonald Federated Guild, gardening, her husband Fred, her children, her
 church, and Jesus. 
For all of those that knew and loved LaVina, for those of you that 
thought of her as a second mom, know that you were loved by her, you 
meant the world to her, and she was thankful for each and every one of 
you. 
She was a special woman, that will be incredibly missed. We were all blessed to have her in our lives. 
She is survived by her husband Fred, of Colby, KS; children, Kathy 
(Rick) Frisbie, of McDonald, Becky (Ray) Nelson, of Rifle, Colorado, 
Kurt Andrews, of Corvallis, Oregon, Blake Waters, of Basehor, Kansas, 
and Jeana (Kevin) Penny of Burlington, Colorado. 
She was preceded in death by her infant son; her siblings; her 
daughter-in-law Kathryn Waters, and her great-granddaughter Ava 
Parshall.

Marlene Caroline (Schoenthaler) 
Deutscher, age 98, of Ellis, Kansas, passed away July 28, 2022, at the 
Good Samaritan Society, Ellis. She was born February 26, 1924, on the 
family farm north of Ellis to Jacob W. and Mary (Ast) Schoenthaler. She 
was the last of nine children born to this union.&nbsp;

Marlene was baptized at St. John 
Lutheran Church. She graduated from Ellis High School in 1943 and worked
 at S &amp;W Supply in Hays, Kansas. Marlene married Clarence W. 
Deutscher on November 25, 1945, at the Christ Lutheran Church.&nbsp;She was a 
lifetime resident of Ellis and member of the church. She worked 
alongside of her husband, Clarence, for many years. They had the Texaco 
station and Motel on Highway 40. Later did Real Estate Sales and Rental 
Management, Insurance and Income Tax. He preceded her in death on 
September 10, 2008.

Marlene was never idle. She attributed 
her long life to never sitting still. She loved to garden and be 
outside. She also loved to play pinochle. She was well known for her 
delicious apple strudel. She was able to stay in her home till the age 
of 97. She then went to Good Samaritan Society-Ellis until her passing.

She is survived by two sons, Steven 
(Pat) of Clay Center, Kansas and Stanley (Linda) of Plainville, Kansas; 
Four grandchildren, Chris Deutscher (Brandy) of Topeka, Kansas, Michael 
Deutscher (Cindy) of Topeka, Julie Ferguson ( Joe) of Clay Center, and 
Brian Deutscher of Plainville; Ten great grandchildren, Payton Deutscher
 of Overland Park, Kansas, Jacob, Joshua, Jonah, Jase Ferguson of Clay 
Center, Blake and Cale Deutscher of Topeka, Elizabeth, Madison and 
Isabell Deutscher of Plainville, and many nieces and nephews.

She was presided in death by husband 
Clarence; grandson Brandon Deutscher; her parents, Jacob and Mary 
Schoenthaler, six brothers, Martin, Ernest, Bill, Gerhardt, Reinhold, 
Oscar and two sisters, Ella Kelsch and Martha Dreiling.

Funeral services will be 2:00 PM 
Tuesday, August 2, 2022, at the Christ Lutheran Church in Ellis. Burial 
will follow services in the Mount Hope Cemetery. Visitation will be 
Tuesday 1:00 PM until service time at the church.

Lamar Dean Quinn

Harry Crawford Purdum IV passed away on July 28, 2022, at his home in 
Stockton, KS at the age of 56. He was born on February 1, 1966, to Harry
 C. Purdum III and Willardene Ellen (Davis) Purdum in Salt Lake City, 
Utah. 
 Harry grew up mostly in Idaho as he attended 4th through 11th grade 
in Mountain Home. While in high school in Mountain Home, he was the 
football team photographer. His senior year the family moved to North 
Dakota where he graduated from Minot High School in 1984.

After high 
school, he went to work at the local nursing home as a Dietary Aid for a
 year and then continued as a Dietary Aid for the nursing home in 
Clovis, New Mexico for a year. He then moved back home to Idaho and from
 1987-2005 he worked as a Dietary Aid in Boise, and then Albertson’s 
Food Market as a produce Manager in Mountain Home, and later 
Featherville, where he lived in the mountains and worked for Trinity 
Springs Water Company until 2005. He then moved to Stockton where he 
provided various handyman and carpentry work to the community.
 Harry loved hunting and fishing, and he thoroughly enjoyed 
collecting rocks and gemstones which he designated an entire room in his
 house for. He also enjoyed gardening and took pride in taking care of 
his lawn as well as his parents’ lawn. Harry was as reliable as they 
come; he would always find a way when there was no way – even if it 
meant snowshoeing to work when no one else was able to get there! Harry 
will be greatly missed by those he leaves behind. Although he left us 
too soon, we are rejoicing with the angels as he enters his heavenly 
home, anticipating the time when we will see him again and be reunited 
together in eternity. 
 Harry is survived by his parents, Harry and Willardene; brother, 
Willard (Tiffany) Purdum of Rock Springs, WY; sister, Ellen (Dewey) 
Bateman of Lubbock, TX; nieces, Isabelle and Violet Purdum, Jessica

Rita Louise (Sponsel) Welle

David Leikam, age 70, of Hays, Kansas 
died Tuesday, July 19, 2022, at The Good Samaritan Society, Ellis. David
 was born December 12, 1951, to Edgar Leikam and Clara (Knoll) Leikam in 
Hays, Kansas. He graduated from St. Joseph Military in 1969. He then 
served as a medic in the United States Army in Vietnam from March of 
1970 to September of 1971. He married Connie Malsom May 12, 1973, in 
Hays.

David was the Captain of the Hays Fire 
Department for 31 years. He was an avid fisher and hunter, enjoyed 
traveling, his Harley Davidson, and watching the Denver Broncos. Mostly 
he loved spending time with his grandkids.

He is survived by his wife of the home,
 three daughters Jennifer (Deon) Werth, Wellington, Co; Cindy Leikam 
(Scott Olivo) Ft. Collins, CO, Sharon (Aaron) Leuenberger, Hays, KS; one
 brother, Gary (Mary) Leikam, Austin, TX; five grandchildren, Lauren, 
Devin, Andon, Kendall, and Levi, five nieces, Emily, Elizabeth, Krista, 
Kaylynn, Karianne, and one nephew, Nolan, brother in law Virgil Weigel 
and sister in law Jeanette Weigel.&nbsp;

He was preceded in death by ­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­his parents.

Mass of Christian burial will be 
Friday, August 5, 2022, at 10:00 AM at St Nicholas of Myra Catholic 
Church, 2901 East 13th Street, Hays, Kansas 67601, with Father Damion 
Richards officiating. David's family will receive guests from 9:00 AM 
until service time at the church. Inurnment will follow the services in 
the State of Kansas Veterans Cemetery at WaKeeney. Memorial visitation 
will be Thursday, August 4, 2022, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM with a parish 
vigil service at 7:00 PM at Brock's-Keithley Funeral Chapel and 
Crematory, 2509 Vine Street, Hays, Kansas 67601.

David Leikam

Brenda Lee Tankersley, age 65, passed away on Thursday, July 28, 
2022, at her home in Garden City, Kansas. She was born on March 23, 
1957, in Concordia, Kansas, the daughter of Orville Lee and Lois Tyler 
McComas. A resident of Scott City, Kansas since 1979 moving from 
Kalvesta, Kansas, she was a farmer.

Brenda was a Member of the Gospel Fellowship church in Shallow Water, Kansas.

On May 12, 1979, she married Oran Lee Tankersley in Scott City, Kansas. He survives.

Survivors include her Husband- Oran Tankersley of Scott City, Kansas,
 Two Daughters- Kelsey and husband Garrett Baker of Scott City, Kansas, 
Ashalee Tankersley of Scott City, Three Grandsons- Corbin Baker of Scott
 City, Kansas, Dylan Baker of Scott City, Kansas, and Ethan Baker of 
Scott City, Kansas.

A Graveside service will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, August 1, 
2022, at Scott County Cemetery in Scott City, Kansas with pastor Don 
Williams presiding.

Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 31,
 2022, at Price &amp; Sons Funeral home in Scott City, Kansas.&nbsp;

Memorial Hospital in Ransom, Kansas.&nbsp; She was born on October 10, 1932,&nbsp; in Ransom, Kansas, the daughter of Clyde and Martha (Jaehde) Willour.

A Memorial Service will be held on August 27, 2022, at Praise

Mary Ann McMurry

Gwyneth Frack passed away July 29, 2022, at age 97 after a 
courageous battle with old age. She was born June 22, 1925, to Harry 
and Lucille Nelson and grew up on the family farm west of Larned, KS. 

She graduated from Larned High School and attended Fort Hays State 
University. On May 17, 1947, she married Lloyd Frack at St Stanislaus 
Church in Ingalls. They farmed together south of town with Gwyneth 
working as a farmwife. She especially enjoyed helping with calving 
season, driving the grain truck and mowing the lawn surrounding the 
farm. There were always an abundance of flowers and kittens on the farm 
as they were her favorite pastime. 
 Gwyneth left her imprint on many lives as she loved being with 
people. She actively served the Ingalls Community and Gray County, 
taking part for well over 50 years in the Gray County Extension Unit, 
the Ingalls Museum Board, writing the “Ingalls News” for the Jacksonian 
newspaper, and serving on Compass Mental Health Board of Directors. 
 At the age of seven, she took a few piano lessons which led to a 
lifetime of music. She started playing the piano for Sunday School at 
age 11 and continued to enjoy playing the piano until her death. She 
served as an organist at St. Stanislaus for 40 years and then upon 
moving to Garden City in 2001, started playing the piano for church 
services at Garden Valley Retirement Village. Her musical talents were 
also heard in the lobby of St. Catherine’s Hospital and at local events 
as she played the keyboard for two bands: the “Upbeats” and the 
“Humdingers." 
 Gwyneth was preceded in death by her husband Lloyd and her parents,
 Harry &amp; Lucille Nelson. She is survived by four children, Sharis 
Bange of Garden City, Janyth(Lon) Pishny of Garden City, Brent(Cathy) 
Frack, of Kechi and Shawna(Dave) Nehls of Manhattan; 11 grandchildren; 
Meagan(Russ) McNiff, Kenyon Bange, Jalonna(Ryan) Bowie, Shannon(Dennis) 
Simmons, Jaret(Lindsey) Frack, Brendon(Shannon) Pishny, Bryce(Lindsay) 
Frack, Brock(Ashley) Nehls, Lyndie(Tony) Trotter, Tarica(Trent) Lare 
&amp; Kamri(Jake) Stoppel. She also has twenty-five great-grandchildren 
and two great-great grandchildren. 
 Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Monday, 
August 1, 2022, with family receiving friends from 4pm-6pm all at 
Garnand Funeral Home in Garden City, Kansas. Private burial to be held 
later, no other services planned.
