Brasser will compete for a regional title against 48 other golfers at St. Joseph Country Club in St. Joseph, Mo. May 3-5. Brasser is slated to tee off in round one at 8:30 a.m. on Monday and at 10:10 a.m. in Tuesday's round two before capping off the event with a 9:20 a.m. start in round three on Wednesday. DETROIT (AP) — Danny Duffy pitched five scoreless innings, and the Kansas City Royals kept Detroit’s offense quiet again in a 4-0 victory over the Tigers on Sunday.

A day after the Royals prevailed 2-1 in a game that took 2 hours, 10 minutes, Duffy (3-1) allowed four hits while striking out eight. He’s allowed one earned run in 23 innings so far this season.

Hunter Dozier hit a solo homer for the AL Central-leading Royals, who have won four straight. Kansas City has allowed only three runs through the first three games of this series.

Detroit starter Michael Fulmer yielded one hit in three scoreless innings, but reliever Tarik Skubal (0-3) gave up runs in the fifth and sixth. The Tigers have lost nine of 10.

Michael A. Taylor singled to lead off the fifth and went to second on a sacrifice bunt. He then stole third and came home on a bloop single by Whit Merrifield.

Dozier homered an inning later to make it 2-0. Carlos Santana added a two-run single in the ninth.

Merrifield had two of Kansas City’s four stolen bases on the day.

The Royals clinched their first series victory at Comerica Park since Sept. 4-6, 2017, and they have now won a four-game series at Detroit for the first time since June 16-19, 2014.

🥎 Senior Day sweep for the Tigers

HAYS, Kan. - The Fort Hays State baseball team split a pair of games with the Washburn Ichabods on Saturday (Apr. 24) at Larks Park. After Washburn took game one 8-5, FHSU responded by winning a nail-bitter in game two, 5-4. The Tigers now sit at 9-22 overall, 9-18 in the MIAA, while the Ichabods moved to 14-19, 13-14 in the MIAA. . Fort Hays State will hit the road next weekend (Apr. 30 - May 1) for a three game series at Emporia State. Game one of the series is set for 6:00 pm on Friday night. Game 1 - Washburn 8, Fort Hays State 5 Washburn struck first in the opener, pushing across four runs on four hits in the third inning. Fort Hays State cut into the lead with a run in the third when&nbsp;<a href="https://fhsuathletics.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=6053">Jaxson Webb</a>&nbsp;led off with a single up the middle. Webb swiped second before&nbsp;<a href="https://fhsuathletics.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=6018">Drake Angeron</a>&nbsp;beat out an infield single, putting runners on the corners with just one out.&nbsp;<a href="https://fhsuathletics.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=6022">Jacob Bouzide</a>&nbsp;drove in the Tiger run with a groundout to shortstop. Angeron reached on a two-out error before scoring from second on a single off the bat of Bouzide. But the Ichabod bullpen got out of the eighth with a strikeout before retiring the side in order in the ninth to secure the win. After Washburn took game one 8-5, FHSU responded by winning a nail-bitter in game two, 5-4. The Tigers now sit at 9-22 overall, 9-18 in the MIAA, while the Ichabods moved to 14-19, 13-14 in the MIAA. . Fort Hays State will hit the road next weekend (Apr. 30 - May 1) for a three game series at Emporia State. Game one of the series is set for 6:00 pm on Friday night. Game 1 - Washburn 8, Fort Hays State 5 Washburn struck first in the opener, pushing across four runs on four hits in the third inning. Fort Hays State cut into the lead with a run in the third when&nbsp;<a href="https://fhsuathletics.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=6053">Jaxson Webb</a>&nbsp;led off with a single up the middle. BUCYRUS, Kan. – The Hays High baseball team picked up a pair
of wins Saturday, defeating Heritage Christian Academy 13-4 and 10-5 at the Virginia
Sue Field of Dreams south of Olathe. The Indians have won three straight and
are 8-2 on the season. They are back at home Friday for a doubleheader against
Liberal at the Hays High Field.

Game 1: Hays 13, HCA 4 
The Indians used a three-run third inning to break open a 2-2 game. Garrett
Wellbrock was hit by a pitch to lead off the inning and scored on Dalton Dale’s
double. Dominic Bainter followed with a double to score Dale. Dalyn Schwarz
later added a two-out double to drive in Bainter.

The Chargers scored two in the fourth to pull within 6-4 but
the Indians got a run in the sixth and six in the seventh. Ben Krannawitter,
Dylan Dreiling and Dalton Dale all had RBI doubles in the final inning.

Dale finished 4-for-4 with three doubles and three RBIs.
Bainter went 4-for-5 and drove in five.

Dale allowed four runs over four innings with two strikeouts
and five walks and picked up the win. Dreling pitched three hitless innings and
got the save.

Game 2: Hays 11, HCA 5 
The Indians scored seven in the top of the first inning and stayed in control
the rest of the way. Dawon VonFeldt had two hits including a double and drove
in two runs.

VonFeldt pitched allowed two earned runs on six hits over
five innings of relief and picked up the win. Starter Dominic Bainter allowed
on earned run on four hits over two innings.

🏃‍♂️ Tiger men post five provisionals, win five events at Pitt State Tune-Up

DETROIT (AP) — Brady Singer took the mound in the bottom of the first and struck out the side.

The Kansas City right-hander already looked like he was in a nice rhythm — and the way Detroit's Matthew Boyd matched him, this turned into a quick afternoon at the ballpark.

Singer pitched seven impressive innings, and the Royals took advantage of some defensive sloppiness by the Tigers in a 2-1 victory Saturday. The game was over in 2 hours, 10 minutes — the shortest nine-inning contest in the major leagues this year — although Singer was apparently too focused to notice.

“I had no idea how quick the game was,” he said.

Willi Castro homered for Detroit in the fifth, but that wasn't enough to overcome Kansas City's two runs in the top of that inning. Singer (1-2) allowed three hits and struck out eight.

Scott Barlow worked the eighth, and Josh Staumont pitched a perfect ninth for his first career save.

The shortest previous nine-inning game this season, according to the Stathead tool at Baseball-Reference.com, was actually the previous night, when Minnesots blanked Pittsburgh 2-0&nbsp;in 2:17.

“You see the pace that was played today," Tigers manager A.J. Hinch said. "Both pitchers had great pace, and that comes with the catchers knowing what to call and having the pitcher in rhythm.”

Boyd (2-2) was on the wrong end of this pitcher's duel, allowing one earned run and three hits in eight innings. It was the fourth straight quality start for the left-hander.

“We're better than how we've played, and we're getting it handed to us pretty often right now,” Hinch said. “Our guys are pretty frustrated.”

The Royals did not have a baserunner until Jorge Soler doubled to lead off the fifth. With men on first and third and one out, Andrew Benintendi hit a grounder to first. Jonathan Schoop threw to second for the force, but his throw was a bit high and took away any chance of a double play. Soler scored to make it 1-0.

Michael A. Taylor followed with a single to right, and Victor Reyes threw to third to try to catch Benintendi. The ball bounced past third for an error on Reyes, and Boyd wasn't in position to back up the throw. The unearned run that came home on that play was ultimately the difference in the game.

“I think it’s just us figuring out ways to win," Royals manager Mike Matheny said. "Today it was pressure on the bases, in my opinion caused some things to happen.”

Kansas City went down 1-2-3 in every other inning but the fifth.

Castro's homer to right came on the Detroit infielder's 24th birthday.

The Royals took Singer with the 18th pick in the 2018 draft. That was the same year the Tigers selected Casey Mize at No. 1. Mize lost&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/mlb-robbie-grossman-detroit-tigers-mike-minor-ryan-ohearn-1ef9f49023257a6bb7cd69efe3bded5a">Friday night's game</a>&nbsp;to Kansas City.

Singer is 3-0 with a 1.44 ERA in four career starts against Detroit.

“He's done it to us a few times now," Boyd said. "He's a good pitcher. Any time you're able to couple being able to put the ball on the ground, as well as getting strikeouts, that's why he was a first-rounder a couple years back.”

Royals: RHP Greg Holland was reinstated from the injured list, and RHP Brad Brach was designated for assignment.

Tigers: Announced after the game that DH Miguel Cabrera (left biceps) will be reinstated from the injured list prior to Sunday's game. The Tigers optioned INF Zack Short to the alternate training site.

The Royals send Danny Duffy (2-1) to the mound Sunday against Detroit's Michael Fulmer (1-1).

DETROIT (AP) — Brady Singer took the mound in the bottom of the first and struck out the side.The Kansas City right-hander already looked like he was in a nice rhythm — and the way Detroit's Matthew Boyd matched him, this turned into a quick afternoon at the ballpark.Singer pitched seven impressive innings, and the Royals took advantage of some defensive sloppiness by the Tigers in a 2-1 victory Saturday. ABILENE – The Hays High girls track and field team finished
first and the boys second at Friday’s Abilene Invitational. The girls scored
136 points, seven ahead of second place Marysville. The boys scored 121 and
were 16 behind first place Southeast of Saline.

The Indian boys won five events. Jaren Kanack the 100, 200,
long jump and he was on the first place 4x100 relay. Jordan Dale finished first
in the high jump.

The Indian girls won the 4x100 relay. Brooklyn Schaffer
finished first in the 300 meter hurdle. Re Green won the 200 meters as well as
the triple jump

ABILENE – The TMP-Marian baseball team split their
doubleheader at Abilene Friday. The Monarchs won game one 3-2 then dropped the second
contest 8-2. They are now 7-3 on the season.

Game 1: TMP-Marian 3, Abilene 2 
The Monarchs scored three runs with two outs in the top of the first then held
on the rest of the way.

Jace Wentling opened the game with a double then scored on Chet
Irvin’s two-out double. Following a Bryce Conner single, Nicholas Herrman
singled to right scoring Irvin and Conner.

Ceden Morgan allowed two runs on four hits with three strikeouts
and two walks over six innings and picked up the win. Herrman worked around two
singles in the seventh and got the save.

Game 2: Abilene 8, TMP-Marian 2 
Abilene scored twice in the bottom of the first then added three in the third
to build the lead to 5-1. They tacked on a run in the fifth and two in the sixth.

The Monarchs scored single runs in the third and fourth on a
bases loaded walk to Mason Davison and an error.

Mark Rack pitched 3 2/3 innings and allowed five runs (two
earned) on six hits with three strike outs and a walk and took the loss.

Angeron led off with a double that escaped a diving center-fielder before Bouzide sent a line drive just inside the chalk down the left-field line. Rane Pfeifer, the Washburn starter, got back on track by retiring the next three batters and stranding Bouzide at third. Washburn responded with two runs on two hits and a walk in the second inning before manufacturing five runs on a two-out rally in the third inning, taking a commanding 7-1 lead. The Tigers had trouble the rest of the evening with Pfeifer (2-4), failing to record a base hit over his final five innings of work. ⛳ Tiger women 11th, Brasser 8th at MIAA Championships

HAYS, Kan. – Fort Hays State Softball played to a split with Rogers State on Friday (Apr. 23) at Tiger Stadium in a pair of low-scoring, well-pitched games. Rogers State took the first contest 2-0, but FHSU responded with a 3-1 win in game two. The Tigers are now 20-18 overall, 13-7 in the MIAA, while Rogers State moved to 24-13-1 overall, 12-8 in the MIAA.

Game 1: Rogers State 2, Fort Hays State 0 <a href="https://fhsuathletics.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=5893">Michaelanne Nelson</a>&nbsp;of Fort Hays State and Andrea Morales of Rogers State, two of the top pitchers in the MIAA, engaged in a duel in the pitching circle in game one. The pitchers combined for 13 scoreless half innings, but Rogers State broke through for the game's only runs in the third inning and held on for the win.

Both teams went hitless in the first two innings, but the Hillcats broke through in the third on a leadoff double by Brielle Tyseling. With one out, Tailee Reding put Rogers State on the board with a single back up the middle to plate Tyseling. The Hillcats would get one more run on a throwing error by the Tigers, so only the first run of the inning was earned. That was enough for Andrea Morales, the MIAA leader in ERA and strikeouts, who tossed a complete-game, four-hit shutout against the Tigers. She struck out nine, but the Tigers did have solid chances to score runs. They had a golden opportunity to get one or two runs in the fifth with runners at second and third with one out. However, Morales got two of her strikeouts to end the threat. The Tigers got their first two batters aboard in the sixth, only to strikeout, pop up, and strikeout again to end another threat. Morales retired the Tigers in order in the seventh to complete her shutout. Nelson took a tough-luck loss as she allowed one less hit than Morales, holding the Hillcats to just three. Capra stepped to the plate and mashed a towering drive over the left field wall for an instant three runs for the Tigers. She went on to retire the final 13 batters of the game, holding down any chance of a Hillcat comeback. She finished with five strikeouts in her complete-game effort, scattering six hits with no walks. Delanie Freeze took the loss for Rogers State, pitching just the first two innings. She struck out two. M'Kayla Hillman pitched the final four innings for Rogers State and allowed one hit, one walk, and struck out one. Fort Hays State will enter Saturday's doubleheader with Northeastern State in a tie for fourth place in the MIAA standings with Missouri Western, both at 13-7. Rogers State remained in sixth at 12-8. The Indians are now 6-5 overall and 4-5 in the Western Athletic
Conference.

Sydney Fagan’s ground ball to third scored Lakyn Zimmerman with
one out in the eighth. Zimmerman led off the inning with a walk then advanced
to second on Morgen Berry’s single. Brenna Schwien’s grounder to third advanced Zimmerman
to third and Berry to second.

Liberal scored four runs in the first to grab the early
lead. The Indians got one run in the bottom of the first then took the lead
with four in the fourth. Raegan Winter drove in a run with a single to right. Elle Dreiling followed with an RBI double to pull the Indians within a run. Harlee Danner
then gave them the lead when she reached on an error which scored two.

The Redskins scored two in the top of the seventh but the Indians
forced extra innings for the second straight game with a run in the bottom of
the seventh when Fagan scored on a wild pitch.

SALINA - After battling wind gusts of up to 40 miles per hour on Thursday in Dodge City, the Hays High boys golf team had a beautiful day with a light wind Friday in Salina at the Salina South Invitational, and the scores showed it.

The Indians edged Emporia by one stroke to win the team title at the Salina Municipal Golf Course. Hays had three place in the top 10. Braden Hoskins finished second with an even-par 71. Jason Krannawitter was third with a 3-over-par 74 and Weston Hoskins finished 10th with an 81.

With Northwest Missouri State winning the other No. 3 vs. No. 4 seed tournament match, Fort Hays State and Northwest Missouri State have mutually agreed not to play the fifth-place match on Sunday after already meeting once during the spring. The coaches were content with the amount of matches each team played in the spring. What was originally planned as just a six-match schedule, FHSU was able to add on three matches earlier than the spring schedule assigned by the MIAA. Several teams in the conference took advantage of this opportunity as well. The tournament first-place match will be the only placement match contested in the MIAA Spring Tournament on Sunday. In the end, Fort Hays State was able to get 10 matches in during the spring against other MIAA teams. Though the Tigers finished 5-4-1 in their spring competitions, official stats and records were not recorded for the 2020-21 spring season as decided upon by MIAA administrators and coaches. Wins and losses in spring matches were solely used to determined seeding for MIAA Spring Tournament matches. The results of spring matches will not count toward a program's historical win/loss record or career statistics. ⚽ FHSU women's spring season complete

Fort Hays State Softball will play its final two home doubleheaders of the regular season on Friday and Saturday at Tiger Stadium in Hays. Fort Hays State enters the weekend at 19-17 overall, 12-6 in the MIAA, while Rogers State is 23-12-1 overall, 11-7 in the MIAA, and Northeastern State is 21-14-1 overall, 9-8-1 in the MIAA. 

The Tigers will face Rogers State at 2 pm on Friday, then Northeastern State at 12 pm on Saturday. Game Coverage Both doubleheaders will have&nbsp;<a href="https://themiaanetwork.com/fhsutigers/">LIVE VIDEO</a>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<a href="https://fhsuathletics.com/sidearmstats/softball/summary">LIVE STATS</a>. ⚾ Tigers look to continue winning ways at home against Washburn

HAYS - Dalyn Schwarz hit a tie-breaking two-run homer and
Carson Spray pitched a complete game five-hitter to lead the Hays High baseball
team to a 4-1 victory over Great Bend on Thursday afternoon at Hays High School.

The Indians improve to 6-2 overall and 4-2 in the Western
Athletic Conference. Great Bend drops to 3-5 and 2-3 in the WAC.

Schwarz hit a line drive over the left field fence with one
out in the fourth inning, scoring courtesy runner Jack Fields to give the
Indians a 3-1 lead. Schwarz drove in the final run with a sacrifice fly in the
sixth.

Garrett Wellbrock’s one-out single to right scored Dylan
Dreiling in the bottom of the first to give the Indians a 1-0 lead in the
first. 

Great Bend tied the game on Brad Beck’s single in the third.

Spray allowed one unearned run on five hits with five
strikeouts and no walks in the complete game victory.

Dalton Dale led the Indians' 11-hit attack going 3-for-3. Dreiling and Wellbrock both had two hits.

The Indians travel to Olathe on Saturday to play a doubleheader
at Olathe Heritage Christian Academy.

sixth to win game one of their doubleheader with Ellinwood 4-1 Thursday at the
TMP Field. The Monarchs won the second game 17-7 and improve to 6-2 on the
season.

The Monarchs
play a doubleheader at Abilene Friday.

Game 1: TMP-Marian 4, Ellinwood 1The Monarchs rally
with three runs with two outs in the bottom of the sixth to break a 1-1 tie. Caden
Morgan walked and Bryce Conner singled to open the sixth. Both scored when Joseph
Mindrup reached on an error with two outs. Jace Wentling then followed with an
RBI single to center.

Wentling and
Mark Rack combined to pitch a one-hitter. Wentling allowed one run on one hit with
seven strikeouts and five walks over five innings. Rack struck out four without
allowing a hit in the final two innings and picked up the save.

Game 2: TMP-Marian 17, Ellinwood 7 The Monarchs fell
behind 4-0 in the top of the first but answer with two runs in the bottom of
the inning then score five in the second, two in the third, three in the fourth
and five in the fifth.

single then stole second and scored on Rivas single to center.

The Indians got a single in the bottom of the eighth but
could never advance a runner past first base.

Great Bend scored a run in the first, two in the second and
one more in the top of the third to grab a 4-0 lead. The Indians answered with
two runs with two outs in the bottom of the third on a wild pitch and Schwien
single.

The Panthers added three in the sixth on two doubles and a
triple to go up 7-2.

TMP softball team dropped both of their games in Dodge City Thursday, 9-2 and
10-5. 

Game 1: Dodge City 9, TMP-Marian 2 Dodge City
scored a run in the first than four in the second to grab a 5-0 lead. The
Monarchs scored two in the third and it would stay that way until the Red
Demons tacked on four in the sixth.

The Monarchs
were held to only four hits and scored both of their runs when Kyleigh Allen
reached on an error with two outs in the third.

Allen allowed
nine runs (four earned) on 10 hits with three strikeouts and four walks over
six innings.

Game 2: Dodge City 10, TMP-Marian 5 The Monarchs
led 3-2 entering the bottom of the sixth but the Red Demons scored six runs to

🥎 TMP-Marian falls twice at Dodge City

CLAREMORE, Okla. – Down 1-0 going into the second half, Fort Hays State Women's Soccer rallied in the second half for a 2-1 win at Rogers State on Thursday afternoon in an MIAA Spring Tournament match. Fort Hays State moved to 5-4-1 in the spring with the win, while Rogers State moved to 5-5. Maggie Brown put the Hillcats on top in the 39th&nbsp;minute, scoring on a ball that ricocheted out to her at the top of the box. She made a clean strike on the ball and went into the top shelf of the net out of the reach of&nbsp;<a href="https://fhsuathletics.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=5766">Isabel Robben</a>. Fort Hays State finally broke through in the 70th&nbsp;minute when&nbsp;<a href="https://fhsuathletics.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=5558">Macy Decker</a>&nbsp;took a free kick from about 45 yards out that perfectly found the head of&nbsp;<a href="https://fhsuathletics.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=5563">Reilly Madden</a>&nbsp;waiting in the box. Madden put the pass into the net to level the game at 1-1. Just about six minutes later, Decker delivered again by sending a beautiful through pass to a sprinting&nbsp;<a href="https://fhsuathletics.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=5569">Jordan Thompson</a>. Thompson settled the ball and beat the keeper 1-on-1 low and to the left for what turned out to be the game-winning goal. <a href="https://fhsuathletics.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=5561">Meghan Groom</a>&nbsp;played the second half in net for the Tigers and joined the Tiger defense in keeping the Hillcats scoreless in the second half. In the other match between No. 3 and No. 4 seeds on Thursday, Northwest Missouri State defeated Missouri Southern 2-1.&nbsp;&nbsp;

CLAREMORE, Okla. – Down 1-0 going into the second half, Fort Hays State Women's Soccer rallied in the second half for a 2-1 win at Rogers State on Thursday afternoon in an MIAA Spring Tournament match. Fort Hays State moved to 5-4-1 in the spring with the win, while Rogers State moved to 5-5. Maggie Brown put the Hillcats on top in the 39th&nbsp;minute, scoring on a ball that ricocheted out to her at the top of the box. She made a clean strike on the ball and went into the top shelf of the net out of the reach of&nbsp;<a href="https://fhsuathletics.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=5766">Isabel Robben</a>. Fort Hays State finally broke through in the 70th&nbsp;minute when&nbsp;<a href="https://fhsuathletics.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=5558">Macy Decker</a>&nbsp;took a free kick from about 45 yards out that perfectly found the head of&nbsp;<a href="https://fhsuathletics.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=5563">Reilly Madden</a>&nbsp;waiting in the box. Madden put the pass into the net to level the game at 1-1. Just about six minutes later, Decker delivered again by sending a beautiful through pass to a sprinting&nbsp;<a href="https://fhsuathletics.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=5569">Jordan Thompson</a>. Thompson settled the ball and beat the keeper 1-on-1 low and to the left for what turned out to be the game-winning goal. <a href="https://fhsuathletics.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=5561">Meghan Groom</a>&nbsp;played the second half in net for the Tigers and joined the Tiger defense in keeping the Hillcats scoreless in the second half. In the other match between No. 3 and No. 4 seeds on Thursday, Northwest Missouri State defeated Missouri Southern 2-1.&nbsp;&nbsp;

KANSAS CITY, Mo.&nbsp;– United Soccer Coaches and MaxPreps announced earlier this week the 26 boys and 18 girls who have been named the MaxPreps/United Soccer High School State Players of the Week for their on-field efforts from April 12-18.

Hays High's Caroline Robben is the Player of the Week from the state of Kansas. The junior has scored eight goals and scored 21 points so far this season

soccer pushed their winning streak to seven straight matches Thursday with a 6-2 victory over Liberal at the FHSU Soccer Stadium. 

The Indians improved to
