HAYS – The Dodge City girls won the 2022 Hays Girls Prairie Classic Saturday at Hays High School. The Red Demons had three first place finishes and four second place finishes and scored 165 points. Great Bend finished second with 80 points and host Hays High third with 59.
Hays High’s Sarah Zimmerman won the 109 pound weight class, defeating Citori Bosserman of Oakley by fall in the title match. Zimmerman opened the tournament with a fall over Mayra Gonzalez by fall then defeated Dodge City’s Ashely Alonso by fall in the second round.
Stockton’s Ashlyn Hahn finished second at 115.
Tionna Napue of Russell defeated Caxton Smyth of Plainville at 120 pounds.
Russell’s Jaden Ney was the winner at 132 pounds. Hays High’s Katie Gutierrez finished third.
The Indians Ava Ruiz placed third at 138 and Plainville’s Zoe Brown fourth.
Lexi Burton of Hays High placed third at 143.
Stockton’s Rivver Long finished third and Raven Long fourth at 191.
