The 12th-ranked Fort Hays State women's basketball team wraps up a busy week this Friday and Saturday (Nov. 29-30) when the Tigers take on a pair of former RMAC rivals in Colorado. FHSU will first battle Regis on Friday beginning at 6 p.m. (5 p.m. MT) in Denver before taking on Colorado School of Mines beginning at 4 p.m. (3 p.m. MT) in Golden.

The weekend trip to the Centennial State will wrap up a stretch of three games in five days for the Tigers. FHSU opened the week with a dominant 93-39 win over Tabor on Tuesday (Nov. 29).Tickets can be purchased in advance to the game at&nbsp;<a href="https://regisrangers.com/sports/2024/9/23/Buy%20Tickets.aspx?path=general">Regis here</a>&nbsp;and for the contest at&nbsp;<a href="https://mines.universitytickets.com/">Mines here</a>. Fort Hays State has won 14 in a row against schools from the RMAC, with the last loss coming in 2007. The Tigers are 2-0 in Colorado under head coach&nbsp;<a href="https://fhsuathletics.com/sports/womens-basketball/roster/coaches/talia-kahrs/1342">Talia Kahrs</a>&nbsp;after defeating Colorado Mesa and MSU Denver in Colorado last November.

The Tigers now lead the MIAA with a scoring margin of +28.4 and have the best scoring defense, allowing just 49.2 points per game. FHSU is shooting 47.3 percent from the floor, second-best in the league. The Tigers are outrebounding their opponents by 13.4 boards per game, the best margin in the conference by more than three rebounds. FHSU is also leading the conference in assists, averaging 20.4 per game.

The Tigers are 23-16 all-time against Regis, including wins in each of the last two meetings. FHSU is 7-12 on the road against the Rangers. In the most recent meeting the 10th-ranked Tigers scored 20 points off 20 Ranger turnovers in a narrow 59-55 FHSU win in Hays early in the 2015-16 season (11/21/15). FHSU hit just 32.8 percent from the floor (20-of-61) while Regis knocked down 47.5 percent of its shots (19-of-40), but the Tigers turned the ball over just six times to hold on to the win. Fort Hays State has dominated the series against Colorado School of Mines, leading 31-5. The Tigers are 12-5 on the road in Golden and have won each of the last five matchups. Fort Hays State never trailed in a nine-point road win over Mines in the most recent meeting more than 15 years ago, 56-47 (11/27/09). The Tigers hit 40.4 percent from the floor (19-of-47) while holding the Orediggers to a shooting percentage of 30.2 percent (16-of-53). Naomi Bancroft buried four 3-pointers to lead all scorers with 19 points while adding a team-high nine rebounds. Kayla Klug distributed four assists in the win.

Regis enters the weekend with an overall record of 2-2 after winning each of its last two games. Friday's contest is the first home game of the season for the Rangers. Regis ranks 258th out of 290 NCAA DII women's programs with a shooting percentage of 35.0 percent. They rank second in the RMAC with an average of 39.0 rebounds per night. Erin Fry leads the RMAC and ranks 15th in DII with an average of 21.0 points per game while her 4.5 assists per night are third-best in the RMAC.

The Orediggers head into Thanksgiving 1-4 overall, including losses in each of their last four games. Mines will make its home debut Friday when it hosts Minnesota State. This weekend's games will give the Orediggers four consecutive games against top-12 ranked teams (85-54 L at #6 MSU Billings, 83-57 L at #1 Texas Woman's, vs. #9 Minnesota State, vs. #12 Fort Hays State). Mines averages 61.8 points per night while allowing 74.4 points per contest. Emma Sixta is second in the RMAC with 12 3-pointers and a 3-point shooting percentage of 41.4 percent.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Hays High will be playing in the 5A KSHSAA State Championship game on Saturday. The game is hosted by Emporia State University at Welch Stadium at 7:00. It is the Indians first ever football championship game.

Eagle Media will be streaming the game with Dustin Armbruster and Matt Dumler on the call. The game can be purchased on Saturday. Those who have purchased a year long pass will be able to watch through that prior purchase.&nbsp;

A link for the purchase and to watch the game will be available Saturday morning on Hays Post.

There will be a send-off for the team on Saturday morning. The bus departs at 11:30a.m. from the Hays High School student parking lot. It will head north on Canterbury to 22nd street, then east on 22nd to I-70.&nbsp;

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Dajuan Harris scored 14 points and top-ranked Kansas withstood&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/kansas-hunter-dickinson-ejected-duke-9e63ed1f2d4358893f114f38e1242d74">the ejection of star center Hunter Dickinson</a>&nbsp;to beat No. 11 Duke 75-72 in the Vegas Showdown on Tuesday night.

Dickinson, who entered the game averaging 17.8 points and 10.4 rebounds, received a fragrant-2 foul and was ejected for kicking the Blue Devils’ Maliq Brown in the head midway through the second half.

Highly touted Duke freshman Cooper Flagg took advantage of Dickinson's absence, and the Blue Devils kept it close all the way to the buzzer.

Zeke Mayo added 12 points for Kansas (6-0), and Dickinson and AJ Storr each scored 11.

Tyrese Proctor led Duke (4-2) with 15 points, Flagg scored 13, Kon Knueppel had 11 and Sion James finished with 10.

Mayo put Kansas ahead for good when he made a jumper with 1:57 left for a 73-71 lead. Flagg hit a free throw for Duke and Rylan Griffen answered with two foul shots with 2 seconds left.

Kansas has won four of the past five meetings with the Blue Devils and six of eight. Nine of the past 10 meetings have been decided by single digits.

Kansas: Overcoming the loss of Dickinson could serve the Jayhawks well later in the season.

Kansas center Hunter Dickinson was ejected midway through the second half of the top-ranked Jayhawks'&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/kansas-duke-basketball-score-19ef64a030f58f6ed7428470c54f9b48?utm_source=copy&amp;utm_medium=share">75-72 victory</a>&nbsp;over No. 11 Duke on Tuesday night for kicking the Blue Devils' Maliq Brown in the head.

Brown was assessed a personal foul for backing into Dickinson while both were going for a rebound. Dickinson was given a flagrant-2&nbsp;<a href="https://x.com/espn/status/1861619396990406694">for the kick</a>, leading to the ejection. He initially remained in the bench area with his teammates before being escorted off the floor.

“I didn't think at the moment and nor now do I feel it a warranted a level-2,” Kansas coach Bill Self said. “In my opinion, it's probably a coin flip whether it's a level-1 or a level-2.”

Self said the officials told him they made that decision because they believed the kick was intentional and that Brown's head hit the floor.

“It's probably fairly broadly accurate,” Self said.

Duke coach Jon Scheyer said the officials made the right decision.

“I saw on the screen that he kicked him in his face, so I think that warrants a flagrant-2,” Scheyer said. “I haven't had a good look or anything more, but that to me was really an easy one.”

Dickinson entered the game averaging 17.8 points and 10.4 rebounds, so his loss could've been the game-changer. Kansas led 57-55 at the time, but Flory Bidunga filled in and finished with six points and eight rebounds.

“Obviously, it's a bummer that an All-American like Hunter had to go out,” Kansas forward KJ Adams said. “But it makes me happy that Flo got a chance to show the world what he can do. It's amazing what he did out there, especially a freshman coming in in that big environment, a huge game. He did really good.”

Duke: Flagg had six points when Dickinson went out, but then on four trips to the lane had two dunks, a layup and a free throw.

Knueppel had a 3-point try rim out at the buzzer that would have forced overtime.

Duke shot 50% from the field and 42.3% from 3-point range. Kansas shot 49.1% overall and 47.1% from 3.

Kansas hosts Furman on Saturday. Duke is home against Seattle on Friday.

Nine different Tigers combined for 32 assists on 40 made baskets, the most assists in a game for the Tigers in five years (34 vs. St. Mary, 11/25/19). Seven different players recorded at least two assists, including 10 from Brooke Loewe&nbsp;and eight from Maddy Powell. Loewe's 10 dimes are the most for a Tiger since January 2022 (Jaden Hobbs, 10, vs. Lincoln, 1/8/22).

Fort Hays State shot 56.3 percent from the floor (40-of-71), its best shooting percentage in nearly two years (56.4 percent at Lincoln, 1/2/23). The Tigers' 93 points are their most in a game since they scored 100 against Rogers State four years ago (2/20/20).

One minute into the fourth quarter Katie DeGarmo&nbsp;collected her seventh rebound of the game, giving the graduate student her 1,000th career rebound in a Tiger uniform. She is just the second player in program history to surpass that milestone, and is also the second to surpass that plateau in both points and rebounds. Earlier in the night the Maize, Kan. native moved into third place on the all-time scoring list at FHSU, now with 1,800 career points.

Oliva Hollenbeck&nbsp;won the opening tip for the Tigers, giving DeGarmo the chance to open the scoring with a 3-pointer. Tabor later scored on its second possession to make it 3-2 before the Tigers pulled away, scoring the next 13 points to race in front 16-2. Hollenbeck scored six points during the run, with Kate Dilsaver&nbsp;adding five points including a 3-pointer.

The Tigers eventually led by 18 after 10 minutes, 26-8, before Telexa Weeter&nbsp;helped push the lead to 30 by halftime, 51-21. The sophomore scored 10 points in the final three minutes of the half, including a pair of 3-pointers to give her a team-high 16 points on 7-of-8 shooting in the first half.

Fort Hays State continued to pour it on, scoring 42 points in the second half while holding the Bluejays to just six field goals after the break. Hollenbeck was 6-for-6 in the second half, totaling 12 points and four steals in just eight minutes of action.

Weeter finished with a game-high 25 points, setting a new career high for a third-consecutive game. Hollenbeck contributed 24 points, six rebounds and five steals, giving FHSU multiple players with 20 or more points for the first time since January 2023.&nbsp;DeGarmo finished with 16 points, a game-high seven rebounds, three assists and three steals. Fort Hays State limited the Bluejays to just 24.1 percent from the floor (14-of-58).

Kaleb Hammeke nearly had a double-double performance with a team-high 17 points and nine assists. The nine assists tied his career high, which he has reached three times now. Kyle Grill&nbsp;finished with 13 points, Shaun Riley&nbsp;had 12 and a team-high nine rebounds, and Aiden McDowell&nbsp;added a season-high 11 points. Muhamed Kante&nbsp;also had a new season high in points with nine. FHSU shot over 50 percent from the field for the second-straight game, finishing at 52.5 overall (31-of-59). The Tigers hit 10 3-point field goals, making 45.5 percent of their attempts beyond the arc.

Fort Hays State wasted no time building a lead, scoring the first five points and opening the game on a 22-7 run. The Tigers blistered the nets in the first half at a 60 percent clip and held a halftime lead of 50-30. Hammeke had 14 points and seven assists at the break, while Grill (11) and Riley (10) were also in double figures scoring by the break. FHSU's lead reached its largest of the game at the 11:50 mark of the second half, up by 31 (68-37) when Traejon Davis&nbsp;made a pair of free throws. That was the only time the lead eclipsed 30.

Jaeden Whitten led Central Christian in scoring with 12 points, while Chris Whitten added nine. Andruw Rondon led CCC in rebounds with six, while Andre Cooper dished out six assists. FHSU held Central Christian to just 38.6 percent shooting from the field overall and held an opponent under 60 total points for the second-straight game.

🏀 Tigers cruise past Central Christian in Youth Day matinee

The Fort Hays State women's basketball team climbed in both national polls released Tuesday, jumping five spots to No. 12 in the latest WBCA NCAA Division II Coaches Poll and up two slots to No. 15 in the D2CSC Media Poll.

The Tigers managed to jump in the rankings despite not playing any games since the last release one week ago. Fort Hays State picked up 299 points in the voting process of the coaches poll, up from 236 a week ago, while the Tigers gained 145 points in the media poll compared to 136 last Tuesday.

Fort Hays State is now the highest-ranked team in the MIAA in the coaches poll, moving one spot past No. 13 Pittsburg State. Northwest Missouri State is ranked 15th in this week's coaches ranks, giving the MIAA three teams in the top 15. Only one other conference has two teams in the top 15, while the MIAA is the only league with three-such teams.

The MIAA also has three teams in the top 15 of the media poll, with Pittsburg State sitting at No. 6, Northwest Missouri State ranked No. 8 and FHSU slotted 15th.The Tigers are 3-1 all-time when ranked No. 12 in the coaches poll. This is the third time the Tigers have been listed at No. 12 in the coaches poll, and the first since the preseason poll of the 2018-19 season. The Tigers went 2-0 as the 12th-ranked team in November 2018 after going 1-1 when ranked No. 12 in the 2016 MIAA Championship tournament.

Fort Hays State picked up 299 points in the voting process of the coaches poll, up from 236 a week ago, while the Tigers gained 145 points in the media poll compared to 136 last Tuesday.Fort Hays State is now the highest-ranked team in the MIAA in the coaches poll, moving one spot past No. 13 Pittsburg State. Northwest Missouri State is ranked 15th in this week's coaches ranks, giving the MIAA three teams in the top 15. Only one other conference has two teams in the top 15, while the MIAA is the only league with three-such teams.The MIAA also has three teams in the top 15 of the media poll, with Pittsburg State sitting at No. 6, Northwest Missouri State ranked No. 8 and FHSU slotted 15th.The Tigers are 3-1 all-time when ranked No. 12 in the coaches poll. This is the third time the Tigers have been listed at No. 12 in the coaches poll, and the first since the preseason poll of the 2018-19 season. HAYS, Kan. – Fort Hays State had five players named to the D2CCA Men's Soccer All-Central Region Team for 2024. First-team honors went to&nbsp;<a href="https://fhsuathletics.com/sports/mens-soccer/roster/elias-ovelar-semeniuk/7935">Elias Ovelar Semeniuk</a>&nbsp;(F),&nbsp;<a href="https://fhsuathletics.com/sports/mens-soccer/roster/tadhg-walsh/7942">Tadhg Walsh</a>&nbsp;(MF), and&nbsp;<a href="https://fhsuathletics.com/sports/mens-soccer/roster/marcos-german/8347">Marcos German</a>&nbsp;(D). Second-team selections were&nbsp;<a href="https://fhsuathletics.com/sports/mens-soccer/roster/bryce-dickerson/8344">Bryce Dickerson</a>&nbsp;(MF) and&nbsp;<a href="https://fhsuathletics.com/sports/mens-soccer/roster/jeremiah-johnson/8553">Jeremiah Johnson</a>&nbsp;(D).

Semeniuk finished the season as the team leader in goals scored with nine. He had 21 points for the season, adding three assists to his goal total. Semeniuk was an All-GAC First Team selection this season and is now a two-time all-conference selection overall. He led the team in shots on goal (22) and game-winning goals (4). He is now a two-time D2CCA All-Central Region selection after a second-team pick last year.

Walsh finished the year with 25 points to lead Fort Hays State. He set a new single-season record at FHSU for assists with 15. He entered the NCAA Tournament tied for the national lead in assists with Frederic Benedix of Coker University. Walsh added five goals to his 15 assists for the season. He was an All-GAC First Team selection for the second-straight year and is now a three-time all-conference selection overall. This is the second-straight year Walsh was named to the D2CCA All-Central Region First Team.

German completed the 2024 season with 17 points, producing four goals and nine assists. He led the team in shots with 48, while playing the fourth-most minutes on the team (1,541). German was an All-GAC First Team selection at defender.

Dickerson finished the year with 11 points as a midfielder, notching three goals and five assists. He played the second-most minutes on the team with 1,641, while attempting 41 shots. He was a second-team selection on the All-GAC team this year as well.

Johnson was a strong addition for the Tigers this year at defender, providing 13 points with five goals and three assists. He ranked third on the team in minutes played with 1,618. Johnson was an All-GAC Second Team selection as a defender to go with the all-region second team selection.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Walsh added five goals to his 15 assists for the season. He was an All-GAC First Team selection for the second-straight year and is now a three-time all-conference selection overall. This is the second-straight year Walsh was named to the D2CCA All-Central Region First Team.German completed the 2024 season with 17 points, producing four goals and nine assists. He led the team in shots with 48, while playing the fourth-most minutes on the team (1,541). German was an All-GAC First Team selection at defender.Dickerson finished the year with 11 points as a midfielder, notching three goals and five assists. He played the second-most minutes on the team with 1,641, while attempting 41 shots. He was a second-team selection on the All-GAC team this year as well.Johnson was a strong addition for the Tigers this year at defender, providing 13 points with five goals and three assists. Hawkins, who transferred in after four seasons at Illinois, made 7 of 10 shots with five 3-pointers on the way to his first double-double with the Wildcats (5-2).

Brendan Hausen sank three 3-pointers and scored 16 for K-State. Dug McDaniel pitched in with 11 points, six assists and four steals. David N'Guessan had 10 points on 5-for-7 shooting. He is the only Wildcat to score in double figures in all seven games this season.

Kyrell Luc made 5 of 8 shots and 5 of 6 free throws, scoring 15 to lead the Lancers (6-2). Colby Garland had 13 points on 5-for-15 shooting. Johan Nziemi hit 4 of 5 shots and scored 11. Angelo Brizzi had nine points and a team-high-tying five rebounds off the bench.

Hausen and Hawkins both had 11 points by halftime and McDaniel scored nine to send the Wildcats into the locker room up 44-36.

Macaleab Rich scored all eight of his points after the break on 4-for-5 shooting as K-State played with the lead for 33:13.

This is K-State's third trip to the event. The Wildcats beat Eastern Kentucky and Penn before topping Missouri 82-67 in the 2018 championship game. They first appeared in 2002.

It was the first meeting between the Wildcats and last season's Big South Conference champions.

Kansas State returns home to play Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Sunday. Longwood will host Regent on Sunday.

MANHEIM, Pa. - Fort Hays State's Tereus Henry&nbsp;held on to the No. 8 spot in the latest NWCA NCAA Division II Coaches Rankings, released Monday (Nov. 25) by the coaches association.

Henry, a former All-American and three-time national qualifier at 197 pounds, was also ranked eighth in the preseason coaches poll. The El Paso, Texas native is 4-2 so far this season, including two major decisions and two decisions.

He is tied for the team lead with four victories and ranks third with two bonus-point wins. Henry is 1-0 against NCAA Division II opponents this year.

The Tigers continue to receive votes in the team rankings, collecting six points, four back of the 25th-ranked team.

Neal carried the ball a career-high 37 times for 207 yards and three touchdowns, while adding 80 yards and another touchdown on four receptions. This is the second time in his career that Neal has scored four total touchdowns, first since Nov. 31, 2021 at Texas, and the fourth time he has scored at least three touchdowns in his career, first since Nov. 18, 2023 at Kansas State. The 207 rushing yards is the second-highest total for Neal in his legendary career, trailing only a 224-yard rushing day in KU's 37-16 win over No. 18 Oklahoma State in 2022.

In the game, Neal surpassed the 1,000-yard rushing milestone for the 2024 season, becoming the first player in Kansas football history to rush for more than 1,000 yards three times in his career. Neal has now rushed for 1,133 yards and 15 touchdowns this season. His yardage total is good for the sixth-highest single-season total in program history and his touchdown total is No. 4 in school history for a single season.

KU's all-time leader in rushing yards, rushing touchdowns and total touchdowns, Neal added to his historic marks on Saturday. His current career totals are 4,210 yards, 48 rushing touchdowns and 52 total touchdowns. The game also marked Neal's 19th career game with more than 100 rushing yards, which is also a school record. Additionally, Neal is now No. 3 in school history for career receptions by a running back with 76.

Nationally, Neal is tied for the lead among active FBS players with 48 career rushing touchdowns, which matches the mark of Boise State's Ashton Jeanty. SAINT THOMAS, Virgin Islands (AP) — Colin Porter scored 17 points, Isaiah Ihnen added 16 on 7-of-12 shooting Sunday night and Liberty held off Kansas State for a 69-67 win in the semifinals of the Paradise Jam.

Kaden Metheny scored 13 points for the Flames. Zach Cleveland scored two points on 0-of-8 shooting but finished with nine rebounds and eight assists.

Brendan Hausen hit a jumper and Achor Achor scored in the paint to give Kansas State (4-2) a 63-62 lead with 2:31 to play. Porter answered with a 3-pointer 16 seconds later and Liberty led the rest of the way.

Owen Aquino hit two free throws to give the Flames a four-point lead with 50 seconds remaining and Coleman Hawkins scored in the lane to cut it to 67-65 just eight seconds later. After Metheny missed a layup on the other end, Dug McDaniel missed a clean look at a 3-point shot from the left wing, David N’Guessan missed a putback attempt and McDaniel missed a heave from 3-point range at the buzzer.

Hausen scored 14 points and Hawkins added 11 for Kansas State. N’Guessan and Achor scored 10 points apiece.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — The music could clearly be heard outside the doors to the Broncos' locker room, the players inside truly enjoying finally getting to experience a victory in Las Vegas.

Bo Nix passed for 273 yards and had two touchdown passes to break the team's rookie record Sunday, and Denver beat the reeling Raiders 29-19.

The Broncos (7-5) took another step toward an unexpected playoff spot with their second victory in a row.

“A year ago, we don't win that game,” Broncos coach Sean Payton said. “It wasn't our best, but it was good enough. We're on to the next one, so we have a lot to clean up, but it was good to handle these guys for a second time.”

The Broncos&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/raiders-broncos-score-8d708558333570583ac9189b2284d9b0?utm_source=copy&amp;utm_medium=share">won the first meeting 34-18</a>&nbsp;in Denver on Oct. 6 to end an eight-game losing streak to the Raiders.

Las Vegas (2-9) has lost seven consecutive games, its longest skid since the 2017-18 seasons.

“I never doubt the mindset of everybody in that locker room,” Raiders defensive end Maxx Crosby said. “Everybody shows up every day with the mindset to get better, so that's all you can ask for.”

Nix finished 25 of 42, and his&nbsp;<a href="https://x.com/Broncos/status/1860820922594169273">18-yard touchdown pass</a>&nbsp;to Courtland Sutton in the third quarter broke the club rookie record of 14 TD passes set by Marlin Briscoe in 1968. Nix and Sutton later hooked up for a 2-yard TD with 5:30 left to give the Broncos a two-possession lead.

Those plays helped erase a 13-9 halftime deficit. The Broncos outscored Las Vegas 20-6 in the second half after adjusting to the Raiders' willingness to repeatedly bring more pressure than anticipated.

“We had to shift that mindset,” Nix said. “We went into the game expecting (some). We had some calls for it, so now we had to get to those and adjust to them. I thought we did a good job handling the pressure, getting some more 1-on-1s.”

Denver lost its previous four games at Allegiant Stadium. This also was the Broncos' first road win in this series since defeating the then-Oakland Raiders on Oct. 11, 2015.

“I think the tide is turning,” Sutton said. “The Broncos are in a spot where we want to be back in the AFC West, and I think that's a really exciting spot to be in. Job's not finished.”

Sutton caught eight passes for 97 yards and two touchdowns to extend his streak of 70-yard games to five. That's the longest streak by a Broncos player since Demaryius Thomas' eight straight in 2014.

Raiders quarterback Gardner Minshew&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/las-vegas-raiders-gardner-minshew-79e143ef0e2880f46bf2d5df863168d5?utm_source=copy&amp;utm_medium=share">landed hard on his left shoulder</a>&nbsp;late in the game and was replaced by Desmond Ridder. Minshew will miss the rest of the season with a broken collarbone, according to multiple reports.

Minshew completed 25 of 42 passes for 230 yards, with a touchdown and interception. The best passing play, however, came on a fake punt when AJ Cole&nbsp;<a href="https://x.com/NFL/status/1860808393557946591">completed a 34-yard pass</a>&nbsp;to linebacker Divine Deablo to set up a second-quarter field goal.

That was one of four field goals by Daniel Carlson, whose duel with Broncos counterpart Will Lutz kept Las Vegas in the game. They combined to make all nine of their attempts, including three from more than 50 yards.

Jakobi Meyers caught 10 passes for 121 yards. That’s his best game since 2020, when Meyers played for the New England Patriots and caught 12 passes for 169 yards against the New York Jets.

Crosby recorded his 100th tackle for loss in the second quarter, becoming the fourth player to reach that number since at least 1999 in his first six seasons. The others were J.J. Watt, Aaron Donald and DeMarcus Ware.

The Raiders are a shell of themselves. They played this game without their top two running backs as well as two starters at cornerback, two on the defensive line and one at safety.

“Credit Vegas,” Payton said. “They came out and had some fire about them, but they lost.”

Raiders special teams coordinator Tom McMahon did not coach, but no reason was provided. Derius Swinton II handled those duties.

Broncos: CB Riley Moss (knee) left the game late in the first half. DE Zach Allen (heel) didn't play.

LEBANON, Ill. – Fort Hays State men's soccer saw its postseason run come to a heartbreaking end in the second round of the NCAA Division II Tournament, falling 3-2 to McKendree in overtime on Sunday afternoon at Leemon Field. A late twist of fate in regulation gave McKendree an equalizing goal to force overtime and then had more fortune bounce its way in overtime. FHSU finished its season at 13-4-4 overall, while McKendree remained unbeaten on the year at 13-0-7 and advanced to the Round of 16.

The Tigers opened the scoring in the 22nd minute with a moment of brilliance from&nbsp;<a href="https://fhsuathletics.com/sports/mens-soccer/roster/lucas-garay/8346">Lucas Garay</a>, who netted an incredible backheel goal for his fourth tally of the season. Garay's highlight reel finish came off a pinpoint assist from&nbsp;<a href="https://fhsuathletics.com/sports/mens-soccer/roster/jeremiah-johnson/8553">Jeremiah Johnson</a>, showcasing the Tigers' attacking creativity. Despite Fort Hays State's dominance in the first half, including 10 shots with six on target, McKendree equalized in the 39th minute on a goal from Henri Poll in the box.

Coming out of halftime, Fort Hays State wasted no time regaining the lead. Johnson found the back of the net in the 55th minute, finishing off a perfectly placed pass from&nbsp;<a href="https://fhsuathletics.com/sports/mens-soccer/roster/jackson-elgas/7927">Jackson Elgas</a>&nbsp;through traffic just outside the box. Johnson's fifth goal of the season was looking as though it would hold up, but a late break of fortune bounced the way of the Bearcats with about three minutes remaining in regulation. Bailey Winchurch sent a long cross from just in front of McKendree's bench, which unfortunately was misplayed by the Tigers' last line of defense and it hopped into the net for the game-tying goal to eventually force overtime.

About two minutes into the extra period, FHSU had a good look from in close that went up over the crossbar. Then about three minutes after that, McKendree struck the decisive blow in the 96th minute when Chris Moore scored a golden goal on a header in the box, advancing the Bearcats to the next round. The Tigers could not get a clearance on a ball that rattled between several players in the box before finding the head of Moore.

The Tigers outshot McKendree 19-16 overall, with 12 shots on goal compared to McKendree's five. Despite controlling large portions of the game and earning six corner kicks to McKendree's three, Fort Hays State was stymied by a 10-save performance from McKendree goalkeeper Christian Herluf. Graduate goalkeeper&nbsp;<a href="https://fhsuathletics.com/sports/mens-soccer/roster/ben-dixon/7926">Ben Dixon</a>&nbsp;recorded two saves for the Tigers.

Fort Hays State was the first team this year to score at least two goals against McKendree on its home pitch. It tied the most goals yielded in a match this year by the Bearcats after they surrendered two to Rogers State early in the season in a 4-2 win. It was just the fourth match this season where McKendree faced a deficit.
