CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — Patrick Mahomes threw for 269 yards and&nbsp;<a href="https://x.com/Chiefs/status/1860779368617824699">three touchdowns</a>, Spencer Shrader kicked a 31-yard field goal as time expired and the Kansas City Chiefs beat the Carolina Panthers 30-27 on Sunday to reach double-digit wins for the 10th straight season.

Noah Gray caught two TD passes as the Chiefs (10-1) bounced back from last week’s 30-21 loss at Buffalo and won at the buzzer yet again in a season of narrow escapes.&nbsp;<a href="https://twitter.com/NFL/status/1860779327538733210">DeAndre Hopkins also had a touchdown catch</a>&nbsp;for the two-time defending Super Bowl champions, who scored on their first five possessions.

Bryce Young finished 21 of 35 for 262 yards and a touchdown for the Panthers (3-8), who had their two-game winning streak snapped. David Moore had six receptions for 80 yards and a touchdown.

Trailing 27-19, Young completed a fourth-down pass to Adam Thielen to move the chains, then went deep for the veteran receiver, who drew a pass-interference penalty on Chamarri Conner. That set up a 1-yard touchdown run by Chuba Hubbard.

Young's initial 2-point conversion toss to Moore drew a flag on Trent McDuffie, and Hubbard ran for 2 on the next play to tie the game with 1:46 left.

Mahomes ran for 33 yards on the ensuing drive and was sprung by a downfield block from Justin Watson to reach field goal range. Then he connected with Kareem Hunt for 10 yards to make it a chip shot for Shrader. Mahomes finished with 60 yards rushing.

The Chiefs wasted no time setting the tone as Samaje Perine returned the opening kickoff 56 yards and Mahomes found&nbsp;<a href="https://x.com/Chiefs/status/1860746775801307357">Gray for a 35-yard touchdown strike</a>&nbsp;on the third play of scrimmage for a 7-0 lead. Gray went nine games without a TD catch before hauling in two last week against Buffalo. His 11-yard score late in the second quarter gave him&nbsp;<a href="https://x.com/Chiefs/status/1860764959220601320">two more against the Panthers</a>.

The Panthers moved the ball well but struggled in the red zone, resulting in field goals of 30, 32, 29 and 33 yards for Eddy Pineiro, the most accurate kicker in NFL history.

Running back Jonathan Brooks made his NFL debut for Carolina, but was limited to 7 yards on two carries.

Eight of the Chiefs' wins have come by a one-score margin, and this was their second straight victory decided on the last play. They beat Denver two weeks ago by blocking a would-be game-winning field goal.

Kansas City's Travis Kelce had six catches for 62 yards and moved into third place in career yards receiving by a tight end. He ranks behind only Tony Gonzalez and Jason Witten. However, Kelce failed to find the end zone for the ninth time in 11 games this season.

MANHATTAN, Kan. (AP) — DJ Giddens rushed for 143 yards, on just 15 carries, with two touchdowns, as Kansas State defeated Cincinnati 41-15 Saturday night.

Kansas State (8-3, 5-3 Big 12) snapped a two-game losing streak with the victory.

“It was an inspired win by our guys,” Kansas State coach Chris Klieman said. “I'm proud of the whole team, proud of our seniors for responding to the adversity that we’ve had.

"We knew we needed to start fast, and we did start fast. Our defense really made them one-dimensional early on, and then we did some really good things.”

Cincinnati (5-6, 3-5 Big 12) lost its fourth straight game. The Bearcats need a home win against TCU next Saturday to achieve bowl eligibility.

Avery Johnson was 13-of-23 passing for 147 yards and two touchdowns for KSU. With running back Dylan Edwards out with an undisclosed injury, Johnson also ran the ball 10 times for 81 yards and a score.

“(The coaches) definitely said it was going to be a heavier QB-run game this week,” Johnson said about the extra workload. “And you know, that’s one of the strongest suits of my game. I was just running behind my pads, kind of fitting up in some gaps when I needed to and just trying my best to follow those guys' blocks.”

Klieman was especially proud of his defense in the clutch.

“Cincinnati was 3 of 12 third down, 0 of 5 on fourth down," he said. "That was a big-time effort on fourth down especially, because there’s a handful of those that were in critical situations and those weren’t fourth-and-10 or fourth-and-12. Those were fourth-and-short to fourth-and-medium.”

Brendan Sorsby was 21 of 39 for 200 yards and two touchdowns for the Bearcats.

Trailing by 24 points, Cincinnati found the end zone on a 9-yard touchdown pass from Sorsby to Tony Johnson late in the third quarter. The 2-point conversion failed. Giddens had his second rushing touchdown on K-State's next drive.

Johnson's 8-yard touchdown pass to Will Swanson put K-State up 41-9. Sorsby then found Johnson for a 6-yard touchdown.

“We were contemplating between two plays, and (offensive coordinator Conor Riley) asked me what I wanted,” Johnson said. “And I (chose) the play we ended up calling. Riles kind of looked at me a little bit funny, and then we called it. We had two guys wide open because they didn’t know how to cover it. It was just all smiles on the sideline.”

Kansas State wasted little time grabbing a 7-0 lead on its opening drive on a 21-yard touchdown run by Johnson. That capped a five-play, 65-yard drive.

The Wildcats extended the lead to 10-0 on a 28-yard Chris Tennant field goal, and then to 13-0 on his 32-yarder.

After K-State held Cincinnati on fourth-and-8 at the KSU 33, Giddens pushed the Wildcats' lead to 20-0 when he used a spin move at the line of scrimmage and then raced 32 yards for a touchdown, capping a four-play drive.

Cincinnati got on the scoreboard with 4:17 left in the first half with a 42-yard field goal by Nathan Hawks.

Brendan Mott then intercepted a Sorsby pass at the Cincinnati 22-yard line and returned it to the 6. It was Mott's first career interception in his last home game.

“Unfortunately, I couldn’t finish it off and get the 6 points,” Mott said. “When I got to the sideline, I don't know if I got more ‘Congratulations’ or, ‘Man, you should have housed that thing.’”

Two plays later, Johnson found Tre Spivey for a 6-yard touchdown and the Wildcats led 27-3 at halftime.

Cincinnati: The Bearcats struggled to convert at crucial times. They were just 3 of 12 on third-down conversions and 0 for 5 when going for it on fourth down.

Kansas State: The score may have been lopsided in Kansas State's favor, but the Wildcats were not dominant. They out-gained Cincinnati by just 54 total yards.

KEARNEY, Neb. - The Fort Hays State men's wrestling team combined to pick up 25 wins at the Younes Hospitality Open Saturday at the Buffalo County Fairgrounds.

<a href="https://fhsuathletics.com/sports/wrestling/roster/drew-bell/8290">Drew Bell</a>&nbsp;notched a pair of victories on the consolation side of the elite 149 bracket, picking up a win via decision against a teammate before dominating in a 16-0 technical fall.

<a href="https://fhsuathletics.com/sports/wrestling/roster/cody-castelline/8311">Cody Castelline</a>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<a href="https://fhsuathletics.com/sports/wrestling/roster/andrew-honas/8314">Andrew Honas</a>&nbsp;were the only Tigers to win their first bout of the day in the elite division, both doing so in the 133 bracket. Castelline picked up a 7-0 decision, while Honas notched a 3-2 decision to reach the quarterfinals. Both then bowed out after dropping their next two matches.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Devin Neal ran for 207 yards and three touchdowns, caught four passes for 80 yards and another score, and led Kansas to a 37-21 victory over No. 16 Colorado on Saturday that dealt a big blow to the Buffaloes' hopes of playing for the Big 12 title.

Jalon Daniels threw for 189 yards and a touchdown, and the Jayhawks (5-6, 4-4) scored on every offensive series but their last, keeping Colorado stars Shedeur Sanders and Heisman Trophy candidate Travis Hunter standing on the sideline.

Sanders finished with 266 yards passing and three touchdowns, setting the Colorado single-season record with 30 TD passes, while Hunter finished with eight catches for 125 yards and two scores. But the two-way standout did little on defense — nor did anyone else wearing all-white uniforms — as the Jayhawks beat a ranked team for a school-record third straight week.

Now, the Buffaloes (8-3, 6-2 Big 12, No. 16 CFP) need to beat Oklahoma State and get some help to play for a championship in their return to the Big 12, and earn the league's guaranteed spot in the College Football Playoff.

The Jayhawks, whose back-to-back wins over Iowa State and BYU had given them newfound confidence, suddenly resemble the team that was expected to challenge for a Big 12 title — before a series of late-game collapses resulted in a 1-5 start.

They opened with Neal's 51-yard touchdown catch. They forced a three-and-out and scored again for a 10-0 lead. And when they got the ball back yet again, the Jayhawks churned down field and Neal scampered into the end zone for another score.

It was 17-0 before Hunter, who has emerged as the Heisman front-runner, took a short pass from Sanders and cut up field, deftly slipping between several Kansas defenders and going untouched 51 yards for a touchdown.

The teams traded scores into the break, and the Jayhawks held tightly to a 23-14 advantage. But the question became whether Kansas coach Lance Leipold would rue kicking field goals of 24, 23 and 25 yards rather than going for first-half touchdowns.

After the Buffaloes closed within 23-21 on Hunter's second TD catch, the Jayhawks marched 80 yards with Neal answering the score. Kansas immediately forced a three-and-out, sacking Sanders on third down — he appeared to shove an official in the back after the play — and the Neal scored again to cap an 8-plus minute drive and give the Jayhawks a 37-21 lead.

Colorado's comeback chances ended when Cobee Bryant broke up a pass in the end zone on fourth down late in the game.

Colorado will lament a defense that was simply incapable of stopping the Jayhawks. Defensive back Shilo Sanders was flagged twice and gave up several big plays, while the Buffaloes were bullied up front by the Kansas offensive line.

Kansas could improbably make a bowl game for a third consecutive season. The Jayhawks merely need to beat Baylor in their regular-season finale — what would be their season-ending fifth straight win — to earn an invitation.

MARSHALL, Mo. – In one of the biggest women's wrestling tournaments in the country that featured 610 wrestlers representing nearly 30 different schools,&nbsp;<a href="https://fhsuathletics.com/sports/womens-wrestling/roster/nichole-moore/8375">Nichole Moore</a>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<a href="https://fhsuathletics.com/sports/womens-wrestling/roster/lexie-lopez/8283">Lexie Lopez</a>&nbsp;of Fort Hays State placed at the Missouri Valley Open on Saturday (Nov. 23). Moore placed third in the 138 bracket, while Lopez was fifth in the 124 bracket.

Moore wrestled the most matches (10) of any FHSU wrestler in the tournament, posting a record of 9-1 to finish third. She reached the quarterfinals of the championship side of the bracket before blazing her way through the consolation side for a third-place finish. Her only loss was to Viktorya Torres of McKendree, the preseason No. 3 ranked wrestler in the NCAA at 138, by a 3-1 decision. For her nine wins in the tournament, Moore put together a mix of three falls, two tech falls, and four decisions. Her fastest fall of 30 seconds she recorded in her first match on Friday and then capped her weekend with a strong 10-0 tech fall over Madeline Barton of Quincy University.

Lopez was right behind Moore in amount of matches wrestled (9), posting a record of 7-2 overall. Lopez won her first two matches before running into Shelby Moore of McKendree, the No. 4 ranked wrestler at 124 in the NCAA. Lopez won four more matches in a row before a loss to Joanna Vanderwood, the No. 3 ranked wrestler in the NAIA, in the consolation semifinals. But, Lopez bounced back for a 7-3 decision over Cali Leng from the University of Iowa in the fifth-place match. Lopez had five decisions and two tech falls to account for her seven wins.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Junior long-distance runner Emily Dierks&nbsp;represented the Fort Hays State women's cross country team at the 2024 NCAA Division II Championships on Saturday, placing 71st in the field of 261 runners.

Diercks completed the six-kilometer track at the Haggin Oaks Golf Complex in 21:49.5, second-fastest amongst runners from MIAA schools and seventh-best amongst Central Region competitors. The Hoxie, Kan. native ran her fastest split over the first kilometer of the race, passing the 1K pole in 3:23.4 to sit in 48th at the time.

The Hoxie, Kan. native turned in a strong season, winning twice and finishing in the top seven at each of her first five races. She was the MIAA individual champion and was an All-Region selection after placing seventh at the regional championships.

Diercks' appearance at the national meet gave FHSU at least one runner in the race for the ninth time out of the last 12 national championships.&nbsp;&nbsp;

ST. THOMAS, Virgin Islands (AP) — David N’Guessan had 17 points and nine rebounds, Dug McDaniel added 13 points with five assists and Kansas State beat George Washington 83-71 on Friday night at the Paradise Jam.

Kansas State (4-1) plays a winner-bracket game against Liberty on Sunday. George Washington (4-1) moves to the consolation bracket against Louisiana-Lafayette on Saturday. The Wildcats are playing the Paradise Jam for the third time and first since 2018.

It’s a homecoming for Kansas State coach Jerome Tang and assistant Jareem Dowling, who spent most of their formative years in the Virgin Islands.

McDaniel scored four straight points in a half-closing 6-0 run to make it 46-27 at the break. Kansas State shot 52% from the field in the first half, while George Washington was 7 of 28 (25%).

George Washington scored 10 unanswered points midway through the second half to get within 59-55 with 10:20 left. Coleman Hawkins made a 3-pointer on Kansas State's next possession and McDaniel added a basket with 5:57 left to give Kansas State a double-digit lead it wouldn't give up.

Max Jones scored 12 points, Brendan Hausen added 11 and Hawkins had nine points and nine rebounds for Kansas State. N’Guessan is the only Wildcat to score in double figures in each of the first five games.

Jacoi Hutchinson scored 19 points for George Washington. Rafael Castro added 12 points, and Gerald Drumgoole Jr. and Christian Jones each scored 10.

Hays High was in Goddard to face the Eisenhower Tigers in the 5A semi-finals on Friday. Each team was looking for their first title game appearance. In the end it was Hays that will play for their first title with a 24-14 win over the Tigers.

Hays opened the game with a 13 play 80 yard drive that was capped off by a Zane Viegra three yard run. He was at the controls after Carter Graham was injured on a play earlier in the drive. Graham would not return. Carson Moore hit the extra point for a 7-0 lead with 5:20 left in the first quarter.

Dalton Meyers picked off an Eisenhower pass three plays into the Tigers' first drive and returned the ball to the 16. Holden Lind wasted no time getting into the end zone one play later and a 14-0 lead with 4:14 left in the first quarter.&nbsp;

The Tigers returned the next kickoff to the Indian 38 yard line and scored one play later for a 14-7 score with 3:58 left in the first quarter.

Hays advanced the ball to the seven yard line but was unable to score on the drive. Three plays and a short punt later set up the Indians at the Eisenhower 35 yard line. The next play Viegra left with a severe leg injury and would not score.

Hays put Ian McGuire at the quarterback spot and made it down to the 15 yard line but could not score. Eisenhower moved into Hays territory but the Indians recorded a team sack, a batted pass by Tim McCottry, and a Tanner Geist sack. The Tigers punted the ball away to end the half with Hays leading 14-7.

Eisenhower turned the ball over on downs in Hays territory to open the second half. The Indians responded with a 15 play 87 yard drive that resulted in a Moore 22 yard field goal and a 17-7 lead with 2:52 left in the third quarter.

Eisenhower continued to struggle moving the football. The Indians continued to lead into the later stages of the fourth quarter. Following the Indians only punt of the game, Caleb Thompson intercepted a Tiger pass and returned the ball to the end zone with 3:58 left in the game. The Moore extra point made the score 24-17. Eisenhower scored with 15 seconds left for the final difference of 24-14.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — The Kansas City Royals acquired second baseman&nbsp;<a href="https://x.com/Royals/status/1860115565077319873" target="_blank">Jonathan India</a>&nbsp;from the Cincinnati Reds on Friday, adding a dependable leadoff hitter and middle infielder to play alongside star shortstop Bobby Witt Jr.

As part of the deal, the Royals also acquired outfielder Joey Wiemer while sending right-hander Brady Singer to Cincinnati.

The 27-year-old India was the NL Rookie of the Year in 2021 and batted .248 with 15 homers and 58 RBIs in 2024. He played in a career-best 151 games and drew 80 walks, tied for fifth most in the majors. He has batted leadoff in 341 of his 523 career games.

Under contract for $5.45 million next season, India is eligible for free agency in 2027.

India was drafted fifth overall by Cincinnati in 2018, 13 spots ahead of Singer. They were college teammates at Florida.

The 28-year-old Singer has been a regular in the Royals’ starting rotation since his debut in the pandemic-shortened 2020 season. He went 9-13 with a 3.71 ERA in a career-best 179 2/3 innings in 2024, helping the Royals earn an AL wild-card playoff berth.

Singer is 36-44 with a 4.28 ERA in 127 appearances, including 124 starts. He’s eligible for arbitration in 2025 and free agency in 2027.

Wiemer was acquired by Cincinnati along with pitcher Jakob Junis in the July trade that sent pitcher Frankie Montas to Milwaukee. The 25-year-old outfielder played in two games for the Reds and ended the season with Triple-A Louisville.

LEBANON, Ill. – Fort Hays State Men's Soccer advanced to the Round of 32 in the NCAA Tournament with a 1-0 win over Davenport University on Friday (Nov. 22). The No. 10 seeded Tigers moved to 13-3-4 overall on the season, while the No. 7 seeded Panthers ended their season at 9-8-4 overall.

The Tigers dominated possession throughout the match, outshooting the Panthers 29-7. The Tigers had plenty of good chances in the first half, but Davenport keeper Beau Hudd turned away all four shots on goal to leave the match scoreless at halftime. However, less than two minutes into the second half, the Tigers finally broke through with their constant pressure. A ball chipped into the box was mishandled by Hudd and went right to&nbsp;<a href="https://fhsuathletics.com/sports/mens-soccer/roster/elias-ovelar-semeniuk/7935">Elias Ovelar Semeniuk</a>, who headed the ball into a wide-open net for the lone Tiger goal.

<a href="https://fhsuathletics.com/sports/mens-soccer/roster/bryce-dickerson/8344">Bryce Dickerson</a>&nbsp;led FHSU in shot attempts with seven, while&nbsp;<a href="https://fhsuathletics.com/sports/mens-soccer/roster/marcos-german/8347">Marcos German</a>&nbsp;took six. The pair, along with Semeniuk, all had two shots on goal. FHSU generated 13 corner kicks in the match compared to just two for Davenport.

<a href="https://fhsuathletics.com/sports/mens-soccer/roster/ben-dixon/7926">Ben Dixon</a>&nbsp;posted his first individual clean sheet of the year, making two huge saves in the second half to keep the Tigers on top. One of those quality shots from the Panthers was inside the final five minutes, which Dixon elevated to punch up over the crossbar.

The win leveled FHSU's all-time record in the NCAA Tournament at 7-7-3. The Tigers are 3-2 in the 10-team Super Regional format that started in 2019.

Next up for the Tigers is weekend site host McKendree University, the No. 2 seed in the Super Regional bracket. The Bearcats have not taken a loss yet this season, entering the match at 12-0-7 overall. The Bearcats are ranked No. 12 in the latest United Soccer Coaches Top 25 Poll, while the Tigers are ranked No. 16. The match is set to begin at 1 p.m. on Sunday in Lebanon, Ill. On Friday at TMP, TMP-Marian senior Brooke Koenigsman officially signed a letter of intent to play softball at Iowa Western University in Council Bluffs, Iowa.

Koenigsman helped lead the Monarchs to their first state
tournament appearance since 2018 last season and finished her junior campaign with a .640 average with 21 extra-base hits (nine doubles, seven triples and
five home runs), 64 RBI and 39 runs scored.

She said the coaches were a big reason for choosing Iowa
Western University. 

“The coaches were amazing. I loved my visit when I went up
there,” Koenigsman. “They treated me great when I went up there.”

Koenigsman and the Monarchs will look to return to state for
the second straight season this spring, something the Monarchs haven’t done since
qualifying for state in three straight seasons between 2016 and 2018.

JOSEPH, Mo. - The Fort Hays State volleyball team fell to Nebraska-Kearney Thursday in the quarterfinal round of the 2024 MIAA Volleyball Championship, losing 21-25, 17-25, 24-26 at the Civic Arena. The Tigers conclude the season with a record of 12-14, while the Lopers improve to 29-1 and move on to the semifinals to face off against either Washburn or Northwest Missouri State.

The Tigers stuck with the third-ranked team in the country all evening, totaling just six fewer kills, two fewer blocks and one more service ace.

Fort Hays State took control early, leading by as many as five at four separate junctures in the first set. Several early blocks and three kills from&nbsp;<a href="https://fhsuathletics.com/sports/womens-volleyball/roster/claire-olson/7947">Claire Olson</a>&nbsp;helped the Tigers build an 11-6 lead and maintain that edge until the score was 14-9. UNK then went on an 8-3 run to tie the score at 17 before taking the lead for good at 19-18. The Lopers carried the momentum into the second set, leading wire-to-wire to take the frame 25-17.

The Tigers battled back in the third set, keeping things close the entire way. Fort Hays State led for the majority of the frame and did not trail by more than one point until the final rally of the night. The teams traded one-point leads early in the set before FHSU methodically built a four-point lead. The Tigers led by four as late as 15-11 and later led by three at 19-16, but the Lopers stormed back to tie things up at 19. The teams traded points after the Lopers regained the lead at 23-22 before UNK sealed the deal with back-to-back kills.
