Dorothy Applonia Nolan, born June 30, 1929, in Tribune, Kansas, to Joseph A Bender and Matilda Billinger Bender, peacefully passed away on April 10, 2024, in Dighton, Kansas, at the age of 94. Dorothy was one of nine children. She was a member of the Red Hat Society.

Dorothy spent her formative years in Tribune, KS, where she married Ralph F. Nolan on June 30th, 1947, in Tribune. Together, they raised six children: Lorraine, Daniel, Suzann, Jeffrey, Rodney, and Dale. Dorothy's dedication extended beyond her family as she worked tirelessly on the farm while nurturing her children. Following her divorce, she relocated to Leoti, Kansas. Dorothy then married Charlie Atkinson in Leoti, KS, on November 22, 1975. They made their home in Dighton, Kansas, and owned and operated Charlie’s body shop and a Kawasaki dealership. He passed away on January 12, 1991. Dorothy married Bob Heinz of Garden City, KS on August 28th, 1992. They moved to Pottsboro, TX and lived on Lake Texoma. They ran Stripper Storage Units. Bob passed away April 6, 2012. Then Dorothy moved back to Dighton.

She is survived by five children: Daniel Nolan &amp; Kris Escott of Faith, South Dakota; Suzann &amp; Bill McWhirter of Dighton, Kansas; Jeff and Kathy Nolan of Tribune, Kansas; Rod and Dona Nolan of Garden City, Kansas; Dale and Lesa Nolan, Tribune, Kansas; her brother Larry and Ellie Bender of San Antonio, TX; her sister Barbara Tripp of Las Vegas, NV; and her youngest brother James and Ruth Bender who reside in Wichita, Kansas. Grandchildren: Tonya Shull, Carrie Vandiver, Justin Nolan, Josh Nolan, Chelsi Nolan-Santy, Dustin McWhirter, Abby Bencomo, Brooke Burrison, Katie Wecker, Miranda Nolan, Anson Nolan, Shantel Foster, Tanner Nolan, and Felisha Smith. 21 great-grandkids and 8 great-great grandkids.

Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, Lorraine, and one grandson, Brandon, as well as three brothers: Joseph Bender, Joseph A. Bender, George Bender, and two sisters: Albina Bender and Arlene Bender.

Dorothy's life was marked by her unwavering love for her family and her commitment to hard work. Her memory will forever be cherished by those who knew and loved her.

Visitation will be held Thursday April 18, 2024 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm with family present. Public visitation will continue on April 19, 2024 from 9:00 am until 8:00 pm all at Boomhower Funeral Home in Dighton, Kansas. Funeral Service will be at 10:30 am Saturday April 20, 2024 at the First Christian Church in Dighton, Kansas with Rev. Jennifer Bradford officiating. Burial will be in the Greely County Cemetery in Tribune, Kansas Saturday April 20, 2024 at 2:30pm (MT). Lucille Rae Jacobs passed away Tuesday, April 2, 2024, at the Smith County Memorial Hospital in Smith Center, KS. She was born May 27, 1936, in Osborne, KS to Leland and Ruby (Walker) Maupin.

Lucy enjoyed gardening, sewing, her and Victor were members of the Jolly Mixer’s Square Dancers, and she had a strong faith in God.

Lucy was married to Loren Curry until his untimely passing. On February 14, 1965, she married Victor Jacobs. This union were parents to two children, Laura and Daniel.

Lucy was preceded in death by her husband Victor and many in-laws and other family members.

She is survived by her children Laura Jacobs of Hays, KS and Daniel (Sabrina) of Smith Center, KS; sister Gloria Kay (Katy) Herrman of Russell, KS; 3 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.

Sandra Phyllis Beattie Rothnie Aschenbrenner Gaede, 77, of Colby, KS, met her Lord and Savior on April 11, 2024, at Citizens Medical Center in Colby, KS after a well fought battle with cancer. She was born March 9, 1947, in Montrose, Scotland to William and Jessie (Matthew) Rothnie.

Sandra graduated from the Montrose Academy where she excelled in swimming and sewing. As the youngest of 11 children, she had lots of protective siblings, yet she met a sailor - John Leo Aschenbrenner of the U.S. Navy, hometown of Brewster, Kansas. They married in Montrose on October 17, 1969, and had three daughters and one son. John passed on June 20, 1978, and Sandra married James Allan Gaede on December 29, 1979, and had a daughter.

Sandra loved being a mother and a homemaker. She excelled at a variety of crafts including sewing, knitting, crocheting, and quilting. Her family treasures the matching outfits, quilts, and decorations she’s shared throughout the years. She was a fierce competitor in all things, especially croquet and cards. Sandra was active in volunteer work, serving on the Sacred Heart School Council, CCD teacher, Queen Mary Circle and even a Cub Scout Leader. After her children had grown, Sandra volunteered for Emergency Pregnancy Services.

Sandra was preceded in death by husband, John; her parents, William and Jessie; eight siblings, William, Jess Mitchell, Elizabeth Conroy, Andrew, Robert, Patricia Clark, Alexander and a brother who died at birth; in-laws Steven and Thresia (Weber) Aschenbrenner and Fred and Mable (Jenik) Gaede.

She is survived by her husband, James Gaede, of Colby; her children, Jennifer (Jim) McKinnon, of Topeka, Suzanna (Lloyd) Koel, of Atwood, Sandra Kim Aschenbrenner (Bob Braun) of Lenexa, John (Angi) Aschenbrenner of Leon and Jessica (Chad) Poe of Great Bend; grandchildren, Nicole (Logan) McGinley, Ian McKinnon, Emilee Sack, Jade and Carson Poe, Joseph Dozbaba, Nicholas (Skylar) Koel and Anthony Koel; great-grandchildren, Benjamin and Declan McGinley and Henley and Preston Koel; siblings, Margaret (David) Ewan, John Rothnie and many other family and friends.

Visitation will be Tuesday, April 16, 2024, from 5-7:00 p.m. with a vigil following at 7:00 p.m. at Baalmann Mortuary, Colby. The Funeral Mass will be Wednesday, April 17 at 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church Colby, with burial in Sacred Heart Cemetery.

Craig Nolan Lund, 38, of Manhattan Kansas passed away Friday April 5th, 2024.

Born January 5th, 1986, he was the son of Rod Lund and the late Betty Timbers Lund of Natoma, KS. He grew up and received his education in Osborne, graduating from Osborne High School with the class of 2004.

Growing up on the farm Craig enjoyed the outdoors, hunting coyotes and deer but developed a deep interest in anything automotive. From a very young age he was mechanically inclined, taking apart and putting back together whatever he could. He had a love for fast cars, a good coyote wagon and muddin’. As a result of this he spent many years working for auto parts stores and automotive shops in and around the Manhattan area.

In October of 2007 Craig welcomed daughter Jasia into the world and loved spending time with her, watching her participate in sports and events and was awed like many by her artistic talent.

Craig enjoyed time with friends, being a little mischievous with that sly grin, and a cold one.

He is survived by his daughter Jasia. His father Rod Lund and wife Sherrill of Osborne. Brothers Brady Lund Glen Elder and Josh Worley Osborne, as well as sister Sasha Schultze of Osborne and his Paternal grandmother Janice Lund of Waldo.

He was preceded in death by his mother Betty Timbers Lund, grandparents Roy and Dorothy Timbers, and Grandfather Lowell Lund.

Services will be held Thursday April 18th at 10:30 am at the Osborne County Fairgrounds Racetrack with a private burial later.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested memorial contributions be made to the Craig Lund Memorial fund for Jasia’s college education.

He passed away Monday, April 8th at CHI Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney, NE surrounded by family. Frank was preceded in death by both parents. Marilyn “Anne” Ochs, age 77, of Quincy died on Monday, May 1, 2023, at 2:30 p.m. in Sunset Home. Anne was born in Iola, Kan. on Oct. 1,1945, a daughter of Cody and Marie (Riedel) Ochs.&nbsp;

Professionally, she was a Banker beginning her career in 1972 with Intrust Bank of Wichita, Kan. from where she retired on Oct. 1, 1995. &nbsp;

She attended Mount St. Mary’s Convent in Wichita, Kan. and St. Mary of the Plains Boarding School in Dodge City, Kan. and Hoisington High School in Hoisington, Kan. where she was raised.

Anne was a member of the Church of St. Peter in Quincy.&nbsp;

Anne had lived in many places, including Bethany, Okla., Moscow, Idaho, Carson City, Nev., Wichita, Kan., Mexico, Mo., Denver, and Loveland, Colo. and Quincy, Ill. When her boys were youths, she served as a Cub Scout Den Mother. Anne sang in various church choirs and in her free time she liked doing crafts.&nbsp;

She is survived by her sons, Anthony J. McDowell and Andrew Martin Funk. A grandson, Jacob A. Bell; one brother, Darrell Wolf; two sisters, Susan M. Engelhart and Nancy Shackelford; son-in-law, John C. Berrey and daughter-in-law, Diem Tran. Anne was preceded in death by her parents, and brother C. Joseph Ochs.

Cremation Inurnment Graveside services will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 14, 2024 at St. John Catholic Cemetery, Hoisington, Kansas, with Father Warren Stecklein presiding.

Dorothy was one of nine children. She was a member of the Red Hat Society.Dorothy spent her formative years in Tribune, KS, where she married Ralph F. Nolan on June 30th, 1947, in Tribune. Together, they raised six children: Lorraine, Daniel, Suzann, Jeffrey, Rodney, and Dale. Dorothy's dedication extended beyond her family as she worked tirelessly on the farm while nurturing her children. Following her divorce, she relocated to Leoti, Kansas. Dorothy then married Charlie Atkinson in Leoti, KS, on November 22, 1975. They made their home in Dighton, Kansas, and owned and operated Charlie’s body shop and a Kawasaki dealership. He passed away on January 12, 1991. Dorothy married Bob Heinz of Garden City, KS on August 28th, 1992. They moved to Pottsboro, TX and lived on Lake Texoma. They ran Stripper Storage Units. Bob passed away April 6, 2012. Then Dorothy moved back to Dighton.She is survived by five children: Daniel Nolan &amp; Kris Escott of Faith, South Dakota; Suzann &amp; Bill McWhirter of Dighton, Kansas; Jeff and Kathy Nolan of Tribune, Kansas; Rod and Dona Nolan of Garden City, Kansas; Dale and Lesa Nolan, Tribune, Kansas; her brother Larry and Ellie Bender of San Antonio, TX; her sister Barbara Tripp of Las Vegas, NV; and her youngest brother James and Ruth Bender who reside in Wichita, Kansas. Grandchildren: Tonya Shull, Carrie Vandiver, Justin Nolan, Chelsi Nolan-Santy, Dustin McWhirter, Abby Bencomo, Brooke Burrison, Katie Wecker, Miranda Darnell, Anson Nolan, Shantel Foster, Shanda Smith, Stefanie Collins, Tanner Nolan, and Felisha Smith. 21 great-grandkids and 8 great-great grandkids.Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, Lorraine, and one grandson, Brandon, as well as four brothers: Joseph Bender, Joseph A. Bender, George Bender, and two sisters: Albina Bender and Arlene Bender.Dorothy's life was marked by her unwavering love for her family and her commitment to hard work. Her memory will forever be cherished by those who knew and loved her.Visitation will be held Thursday April 18, 2024 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm with family present. Rozel – Carol J. Patterson, 87, passed away April 12, 2024 at her daughter’s home in Wichita.

She was born December 31, 1936 in Great Bend, the daughter of Raymond and Viola Boese Ellis.

A lifetime area resident, she was an administrative assistant at Larned State Hospital where she retired after 29 years. She was a member of Rozel United Methodist Church, various Bridge Groups and the Sweet Adelines. She enjoyed singing in her church growing up, playing the steal guitar and drums, word search puzzles, reading, computer games and playing Mahjong.

Survivors include: two daughters, Angela (Michael) McThomas, Andover, New Jersey, Tamara Patterson, Wichita; one brother, Dan (Becky) Ellis, Great Bend; one Daughter-in-law, Kathy Patterson, Larned; three grandchildren, Brittany (Josh) Detherage, Jess McThomas and Jordan Hawk; two great grandchildren, Courtney (Carson) Kettelhake, Jaiden Detherage; one great-great granddaughter, Daisy Kettelhake.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, David Patterson, and a grandson, Shawn Valentine.

Jackie L. Skelton, 88, passed away April 11, 2024 at Diversicare of Larned.

He was born December 11, 1935 in Larned, the son of Nelse N. and Mary Ruth Hazel Combs Skelton.

A lifetime area resident, he worked for the City of Larned for thirty-seven years. He was a member of First Chrisian Church, Larned, National Guard, and enjoyed going to coffee, spending time with his dogs, hunting, fishing, and cruising around town. He also liked scratch off tickets and going to the casino.

On April 8, 1963 he married Connie Lou Hatfield at Alva, Oklahoma; she survives. Jack and Connie just celebrated sixty-one years together.

Other survivors include: three sons, Rick Skelton, Danny Skelton, and Randy Skelton, all of Denver, Colorado; three daughters, Tina (Steve) Kirk, Parker, Colorado, Jacquie (Brad) Walters, Rifle, Colorado, Lisa (Steve) Spain, Larned; numerous grandchildren, including: Chelsy (Charles) Skelton, Brandi (Jordan) Sharp, Jordanne Oleson, Kiley (Alexis) Larsen, Kandra (Brandon) Becerra, Derek Walters, Shaina (Daniel) Nunn, Allisa (Ty) Spain, Natalie (Caleb) Spain; numerous great grandchildren, including: Owen, Cody, Everett, Kameron, Payson, Preslee, Jaxton, Bristole, Cash, and Baylor; and many nieces and nephews.

The world lost an outdoorsman on April 10, 2024, when Walter “Wray” Raymond Decker, III, age 77, of Hays, KS. passed away peacefully in his sleep. &nbsp;He was born on May 30, 1946, the son of Walter “Walt” Raymond Decker Jr and Evelyn (Yandell) Decker/Damron in Topeka, KS. &nbsp;He graduated from Highland Park High School in Topeka in 1964 and later earned his Bachelor of Science in Automotive Technology and his Master of Science in Technical Teacher Education.

Wray was united in marriage to Sandra Sprague in 1966 and they had 5 children. &nbsp;They later divorced and Wray married Mary Johnson/Sazma in 1993. &nbsp; They remained married until Mary’s death in 2008. &nbsp;

In his early teens, Wray's venturesome soul took him hitchhiking throughout the country. &nbsp; Later in life, that same need for adventure allowed him to take on a career in catastrophe insurance adjusting that allowed him to travel the United States. &nbsp;Most of his professional career he taught Automotive Technology at the college level. &nbsp;His work ethic had a huge influence on his children. Wray also had a love for motorsports. &nbsp; He began racing motorcycles at an early age and raced sprint cars in the 1960’s. &nbsp;He had NASCAR or some form of racing on TV if given the chance.

Wray was an avid hunter, fisherman, trapper, and traveler. He loved to fish and set trotlines. &nbsp;His love of exploration took him to Wyoming, South Dakota, Alaska, Canada and numerous other places to experience the outdoors. &nbsp;During the 1980's, Wray was an avid furbearer. &nbsp;He took his kids on many vacations from Alley Springs, MO to South Carolina to Ontario, Canada and places in between. &nbsp;

Wray lived throughout Kansas in Topeka, Pittsburg, White Cloud, Iola, Spearville and Hays.

Wray was preceded in death by his parents; wife Mary (Johnson/Sazma) Decker and great grandson Zeya Reign Htet. &nbsp;

He is survived by his children - daughter Shannon (Decker) Martin and husband Grady, Dexter, KS; son Walter (Ramo) Raymond Decker IV and wife Pam, Sylvan Grove, KS; daughter Shonda Decker, Las Vegas, NV; son Travis Decker and wife Holly, Russell, KS; and son Brandon Decker and wife Kala, Hays, KS, &nbsp;along with his sister Crystal (Decker) Kennedy, Berryton, KS, brother Ted Decker, Perry, KS, and sister Jan (Decker) McDaniel, Lanexa, VA.

He is also survived by his grandkids - Micah (Thom) Waggoner (Andy), Riley Thom (Reagan, Wade Martin, Wyatt Martin, Kerstin Decker, Kelsey Decker, Walter (Ray) Raymond Decker V, Dalyn (Cooke) Htet (Shine), Hayden Wisner, Kaysen Wisner, Ashton Decker, Liberty Decker, Bo Decker, Kadence Decker, Karoline Decker, Kannon Decker, and Kallen Decker.

He is survived by the following great grandkids as well - Braylee Waggoner, Blaine Waggoner, and Zyla Htet.

He will be missed and loved by those that knew him.

Virginia Lee Dechant, age 72, of Hays, Kansas, passed away on April 9, 2024, at Hays Medical Center. Born on January 1, 1952, in Hays to Virgil and Barbara (Pfeifer) Dreiling.

She was a seamstress at Stromgren in Hays. Despite facing the challenges brought by a diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis at a young age Virginia remained steadfast in her pursuits, demonstrating a remarkable spirit. In her leisure time, Virginia found joy in simple pleasures. Thrift shopping and exploring yard sales brought excitement to her days, as did the companionship of her beloved fur baby, Bear. But perhaps her greatest source of happiness was found in the precious moments spent with her grandchildren. Whether it was babysitting or simply sharing in their laughter, Virginia cherished every opportunity to be with them.

She is survived by her son, Brian Dechant, of Hays; and her daughter, Michelle Schultz, of Russell, KS; her brother, Virgil Dreiling of Hays; her grandchildren, Ciera Pfanenstiel, Cassandra Guy, Lacy Herndon, Brittany Dechant, and Brandon Dechant. Additionally, she leaves behind great-grandchildren, Gage and Riggens Pfanenstiel, Brynlee, and Annabelle Guy, and Adrianne Clark.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Virgil and Barbara, and her sister, Jodi Blake.

He was born July 25, 1986 in Hays, the son of Tim and Jackie (Schmidt) Jones.&nbsp; John was a 2004 graduate of Victoria High School and on September 29, 2012 was united in marriage to Aubrey Dreiling in Victoria.&nbsp; He worked for T&amp;J Construction and Weld-Tech, and would take on various other jobs doing concrete sandblasting and shingling.&nbsp; He loved playing cards with his family and friends, cooking and grilling, and celebrating the Fourth of July.

John Paul Jones, 37, Victoria, died on Thursday, April 11,
2024 at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.

He was born July 25, 1986 in Hays, the son of Tim and Jackie
(Schmidt) Jones.&nbsp; John was a 2004
graduate of Victoria High School and on September 29, 2012 was united in
marriage to Aubrey Dreiling in Victoria.&nbsp;
He worked for T&amp;J Construction and Weld-Tech, and would take on
various other jobs doing concrete sandblasting and shingling.&nbsp; He loved playing cards with his family and friends,
cooking and grilling, and celebrating the Fourth of July.

Survivors include his wife, Aubrey and children, Cooper and
Georgia Jones all of Victoria, his parents, Tim and Jackie Jones of Hays, his
father-in-law and mother-in-law, Cletus and RoseAnn Dreiling of Victoria, his
sister, Niki Smith and husband Anthony of Hays, a brother-in-law, Tyler
Dreiling and wife Tricia of Leavenworth, a sister-in-law, Chelsey Dreiling of

Rita Mae Wolf– age 93 former Hays, Kansas resident passed away on Monday, April 8, 2024, at The Legend at Capital Ridge Senior Living Center in Topeka, Kansas.

&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; She was born on September 9, 1930, in Victoria, Kansas to Otto R. and Ottilia (Graf) Brungardt.&nbsp; Rita married Laverne P.&nbsp;Wolf&nbsp;on April 11, 1953, at Victoria, Kansas.&nbsp; He preceded her in death on May 26, 2007.

&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Rita was a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, a farmer’s wife, and a homemaker.&nbsp; She worked at Field Abstract Company as a bookkeeper, Singer Sewing Center, and Travenol Labs. all of Hays.&nbsp; Rita moved to the Legend at Capital Ridge in the winter of 2021.&nbsp; She grew up in Victoria and was a graduate of Victoria High School.&nbsp; She enjoyed gardening, sewing, crossword puzzles, and her family.&nbsp; Rita was a member of Saint Joseph Catholic Church, Daughters of Isabella, Christian Mothers, and American Legion Auxiliary all of Hays.&nbsp;

Ollie was born in Konawa, OK, in 1934, she moved to Kansas with her family when she was a child. She graduated in 1956 from the Kansas State Teachers College of Emporia with a bachelor’s degree in business and went on to teach high school home economics, typing, and other courses.

After her marriage, Ollie moved to Nebraska, where her children were born, and from there to Ohio. She eventually settled in northern Virginia, where she found a home and many close friends who shared her interest in ensuring that women have opportunities to pursue their educational dreams. Toward that goal, Ollie was an active member of the American Association of University Women.

Ollie also loved music and the arts. She volunteered at the Wolf Trap National Park for the Performing Arts for many years and was an enthusiastic supporter of public radio. In addition, she was a talented baker whose holiday treats were loved by everyone who tried them.

Ollie died in Reston, VA, on Saturday, January 16, 2016. &nbsp;She was 81. Ollie was preceded in death by her parents, Ollie Molinda and Jimmie Albert Boltin, both of Bunker Hill, and her sister Shirley Beck in 2022.

Ollie is survived by her daughter Susan Parrott of Sterling, VA, her son Andrew Parrott of Ocala, FL, Andrew’s son Evan Parrott, and Evan’s son. Also surviving her are her beloved siblings Mary Heim, Arthur Boltin, and Rebecca Nelson, and their spouses, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren—many of whom still live in the Sunflower State.

A Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, April 12, 2024, at Bunker Hill Cemetery in Bunker Hill, Kansas.&nbsp; No visitation is being held.&nbsp; Cremation has taken place.&nbsp; Condolences may be sent to Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary of Russell, who is in charge of these arrangements.

Longtime Goodland, KS resident Edith Neva Snyder passed away on Wednesday, April 10, 2024 at the Goodland Regional Medical Center in Goodland.

Edith was born in Chicago, IL on February 17, 1931 to Phillip and Mary (Valenta) Phillips. &nbsp;At 3 months old, the family moved to Minneapolis, MN where she resided until her marriage to Robert (Bob) Snyder of Powell, WY on August 28, 1954.

She attended school in Minneapolis and graduated from Old South High School. &nbsp;She then went to college in St. Paul, MN where she obtained her LPN License. &nbsp;She worked for over 30 years as an LPN and 13 years as a psych nurse. &nbsp;Before getting her nursing license, she worked as an assistant secretary at Sports Afield, in the Pharmacy of U&amp;M Hospital and in the accounting department with the USDA.

Bob and Edith were married for 58 years prior to his death, and they served at several small rural churches where Bob was Pastor.

Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband Bob, 2 brothers Bill and Dan and a sister Ruth Mapston.

She is survived by her 2 daughters; Cheryl (Rich) Palmer of Newton, IA and Tracy Snyder of Apache Junction, AZ. &nbsp;She is also survived by 5 grandchildren; Clinton (Courtney) Henry, Linda Whalen, Natasha Henry, Michael (Hailey) Palmer and Breana Snyder; 10 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, April 13, 2024 10:00 AM CT at the Least of Saints Church, 1305 E. 10th&nbsp;Street South, Newton, IA 50208. Private inurnment will be held in the Goodland Cemetery, Goodland, KS.

Edith Neva Snyder

Leroy Paul Wildeman, 80, passed away April 2, 2024, at the Memorial Central Hospital in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He was born August 4, 1943, in Quinter, Kansas, to Fred and Dora (Selensky) Wildeman. Leroy, his five brothers and one sister were all raised on a farm in Quinter, Kansas. During his childhood, he was often busy helping his father on the farm and creating mischief with his brothers. Leroy attended and graduated from Quinter High School with the class of 1961. He continued his education at the Denver Technical School where he trained to be a mechanic. After graduation, he returned to Hoxie, Kansas and started working at the Hoxie Implement. Leroy married Cora Mae Kinderknecht on November 28, 1967, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Park, Kansas. They were blessed with two children, Galen and Paula. Cora passed away on September 28, 1977.

Leroy was a hard worker. He loved to tinker and was known for his mechanical ingenuity. When he retired from Hoxie Implement, he went to work for USD 412 in Hoxie where he managed the transportation department and took care of the school buses and vehicles. Leroy enjoyed spending time with his family, camping, fishing, sports and dances. It was at a dance that Leroy met his wife, Andrea Woods. They were married on June 1, 1985, in Norton, Kansas and celebrated 38 years of marriage. After retiring from the school, Leroy ran the Hoxie Swap Shop for many years with help from his wife, Andrea. He loved the feeling of helping the community that running the Swap Shop gave him. Leroy enjoyed working on puzzles, watching game shows, sports, and the TV series, Yellowstone. In November of 2022, Leroy and Andrea moved into the Hoxie Long Term Care. Even after moving to the LTC, Leroy would still visit his home often to tinker in his shop. Instead of building and repairing things like he did most of his life, he started to tear them apart. The LTC gave him the opportunity for his ornery side to come out while picking on the nurses and nurses aides. He loved it especially when they returned the favor!

Leroy leaves to mourn his passings his loving wife, Andrea of Hoxie, Kansas; son, Galen Wildeman and his wife Sondra of Modesto, California; daughter, Paula Marchbanks and husband Charles of Colorado Springs, Colorado; granddaughter, Lindsey Marchbanks; brother, Herbert Wildeman and wife Jan of Denver, Colorado; sister in law, Louise Wildeman of Grainfield, Kansas and many nieces, nephews, and other family members spread throughout the US.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Dora Wildeman; wife, Cora; brothers, Jacob Wildeman, Herman Wildeman, Leonard Wildeman, and Leo Wildeman; and sister, Delphine Marcotte.

A Mass of Christian Burial is planned for April 20, 2024, 10:30 AM, at the St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church, Hoxie, Kansas. A visitation will be held April 19, 2024, from 3:00 PM until 4:30 PM at the at the Mickey-Leopold Funeral Home and 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM, at St Frances Cabrini Catholic Church. The family will be at the visitation, at the church, from 6:00 PM until 7:00 PM to receive friends. The Vigil and Rosary Service will follow the visitation at 7:00 PM, at the church. Memorials are suggested to the Leroy P. Wildeman Memorial with memorials used to support the Leroy and Andrea Wildeman Foundation.

Glenn Dustin Kenny, age 54, passed away Friday, April 5, 2024. Dustin was born June 12, 1969 to Keith H. and Janet L. (Winter) Kenny in Hawthorne, California.

Dustin grew up and attended school in California. He graduated from High School in 1987 and attended college.&nbsp; Dustin moved to Edson in 2015. He worked at Brewster USD 314 and for the Kansas Department of Transportation, enjoyed cooking and most of all spending time with his family and friends.&nbsp;

Preceding him in death are his mother Janet and grandparents. Jetmore &nbsp;- Linda Marie Burke, 71, passed away April 9, 2024, at Hays Medical Center, Hays, Kansas.

She was born December 1, 1952, in Dodge City, Kansas; the daughter of Duane Marvin and Helen Theresa Gleason Aistrup. &nbsp;A lifetime area resident, she was a Para Professional at Hodgeman County Elementary where she loved working with the kids.

She was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church, where she was on the Parish Council, in charge of Prayer Group and attended Bible Study. &nbsp;She was also in the Piecemakers quilting club where they make Quilts of Honor.&nbsp;

On November 24, 1973, she married Steve Burke in Hanston, Kansas; he survives.

Other survivors include; her mother, Theresa Aistrup, Jetmore; &nbsp;two sons, Justin (Sara) Burke, Wichita, and Brandon (Heather) Burke, Osawatomie; two daughters, Jennifer (Mike) McDaniel, Wichita, and Bridget (Ben) Kaye, Prairie Village, Kansas; three brothers, Dan Aistrup, Dodge City, Emmett (Susan) Aistrup, Hanston, and Paul and (Susan) Aistrup, Larned; a sister, Cynthia (Lynn) Goebel, Jetmore, and ten grandchildren, Jake, Kieran and Kortney Burke; Howie and Audrey Burke; Amanda and Katrina McDaniel; Zachary, Cooper and Carson Kaye.&nbsp;

She was preceded in death by her father, Duane Marvin “Bud” Aistrup.

Helen K. Leiker, 97, longtime Antonino resident, died on Tuesday, April 9, 2024 at Ellis Good Samaritan Society.

She was born April 2, 1927 in Victoria, the daughter of John A. and Mary (Rome) Dinkel. On October 15, 1946 she was united in marriage to Christian J. Leiker in Victoria, and they celebrated 55 years of marriage before he preceded her in death on January 21, 2002. Helen was a hardworking farmwife and homemaker. She enjoyed gardening with Christian, canning, making homemade noodles, and baking delicious desserts including lemon meringue pie and a variety of Christmas cookies. She loved crocheting afghans, embroidering tea towels, and making quilts for her family and every grandchild. Helen was a member of Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church, Antonino Christian Mothers, and possessed a deep faith and a devotion to the rosary.

Survivors include two daughters, Paullette Leiker and Sharon Staab and husband Jerry and their children; Lyle Hammerschmidt (Abby) and their children Maylee and Bo, Ross Hammerschmidt (fiancé Kendra Barnes) and their daughter Amy, Abby Stapelton and her daughter Diana, Curt Staab (Beth) and their children Ryan, Collin, and Trevor, and Sara Verbeck (Todd) and their son Cody, a daughter-in-law, Linnea Leiker and her children, Chris Leiker (Kielin Green), and their son Seiran, Antoinette Sandy (Seth) and their son Oliver, and Alex Leiker (Holly) and their son Ripley, a son-in-law, Greg Pelz and his children, James Pelz and his son Asher, Shannon Pelz and her children, Maggy Correa (Jimmy) and their children Belle and Reyna Correa and Destiny Woodis, and Kate Laws, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Christian, a son Darrell Leiker, an infant son, a daughter Ivorgene Pelz, four brothers, Andrew, infant Richard, Albert, and Elmer Dinkel and four sisters, Pauline VonFeldt, infant Katherine, and Magdalen and Albina Dinkel, and two great grandsons, Trae Wipple and Cody Cawood.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 am on Saturday, April 13, 2024 at Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church in Antonino with Fr. Curtis Carlson, OFM Cap. officiating. Laurie Ann Knipp, 60, of Hill City, Kansas, passed away April 8, 2024, and entered the Gates of Heaven to be with her parents and her son Allen Michael. She was born June 7, 1963, in Hill City to Wilbert and Iona (Brin) Knipp. She lived all her life in Hill City; however, she did travel to other states on several occasions.

She worked at Cameron’s Corner for over 25 years, rarely missing a day. She enjoyed her job, all the employees and especially the customers. As an employee and friend, you could always count on Laurie’s reliability. She worried more about others than herself. When her mother became ill and needed help, there was Laurie. She always took time for her children and grandchildren, as well as her dog, Buddy. Laurie loved babies. She was so excited when her first grandchild Kamryn was born. They patiently awaited her arrival by eating Laurie’s favorites: pork chops with a Pepsi!

When she wasn’t working or taking care of her children and then her grandchildren, you would frequently see her just driving around town or headed to her favorite fishing hole. Time at the lake with her family was made extra special when the girls would prepare a big breakfast in the morning.

Laurie was proceeded in death by her parents, Wilbert and Iona, and her son Allen Michael. She is survived by her daughter: Ashley (Jonathan) Frazier of Hays, Alicia (Ian) Dohl of Russell, and Hilary Boese of Hill City; two brothers: Eddie of Hill City, and Wayne of Wichita; five sisters: Vivian Messer of Santa Rosa, California, Jeanie Stakes of Arlington, Texas, Charlotte Pfeifer of Hays, Deanna Zeman (Mark) of WaKeeney, Marcia Pfeifer (Gerald) of Hays; grandchildren: Priscilla, Kamryn LeeAnn, Krew Allen, Raider Allen Lavon; and Laurie’s daughters’ grandfather figure, Rudy Augustine of Hill City; 15 nieces and nephews, one uncle, two aunts, and many friends.
