Mr. Pfeifer was born November 27, 1943, in La Crosse, Kansas, the son of Albert Frank and Ida (Schaffer) Pfeifer. He was a 10 year resident of Rush County, Kansas, moving there from Wichita, Kansas. He was a machinist in the aircraft industry before his retirement. He was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Liebenthal, Kansas. He was a United States Army veteran. Survivors include: one brother, Robert Lee Pfeifer, Liebenthal, Kansas; and two sisters, Judy Mae Hoffman, Liebenthal, Kansas, and Sister Alice Ann Pfeifer, Fond du Lac, Wisconsin. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Timothy Bruce Pfeifer; one infant brother, Robert Dean Pfeifer; and one sister, Rosalee Pfeifer. Mary Ann Petrik, 86, Rush Center, Kansas, died Saturday, November 30, 2019, at Rush County Memorial Hospital Intermediate Swing Bed, La Crosse, Kansas. Mary Ann was born May 18, 1933, in Liebenthal, Kansas, the daughter of William and Clara (Legleiter) Herrman.&nbsp;She was a lifelong resident of Rush County, Kansas.&nbsp;She was a homemaker and real estate agent.&nbsp;Mary Ann, together with her husband, Richard D. “Rich” Petrik, farmed and raised cattle.&nbsp;They also owned and operated Petrik Auction and Realty, La Crosse, Kansas, for many years before her retirement. She was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church, La Crosse, Kansas. On June 11, 1951, she married Richard D. “Rich” Petrik at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Liebenthal, Kansas. &nbsp; Survivors include:&nbsp;her husband, Richard D. “Rich” Petrik, Rush Center, Kansas; one son, Troy Petrik, Wichita, Kansas; one daughter, Tammy Leiker (Doug, Lyons, Kansas; four grandchildren, Ryan Petrik, Reece Petrik, Alisha Pennington, and Andrea Rumler; and six great grandchildren, Kadin Pennington, Trey Pennington, Bailey Pennington, Harper Rumler, Arlo Rumler, and Madelyn Rumler. Everett graduated from high school.&nbsp;He served in&nbsp;the Marines&nbsp;during WWII.&nbsp;Everett married Donetta Henry on September 2, 1947.&nbsp;They were married for 70 years.&nbsp;To this union, 6 children were born.&nbsp;He worked as a Tank Wagon driver for Standard Oil and later Midway Co-op both of Osborne, Ks.&nbsp;His big interests in life were his family, hunting, fishing and football. Everett was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Donetta in 2018, a great-grandson, 3 brothers, 1 sister, 8 brothers-in-law, 1 sister-in-law and 2 sons-in-law. <img src="https://media.eaglewebservices.com/public/2019/11/1575151047935.jpeg">November 29, 2019 marked the Best Day of John&nbsp;Golden’s&nbsp;life as he was promoted to the Welcome Committee of the Pearly Gates of Heaven.&nbsp;John previously served as the Chief Ambassador to the Topside of Kansas.&nbsp;After a life of dedication to the great State of Kansas, John has moved from the farm team to the&nbsp;big&nbsp;league serving as God’s Top Ambassador.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; John was born November 12, 1932 in Goodland, KS and was the son of Levi Dick and Margaret Lynch Golden.&nbsp;John graduated from Sherman County Community High School in 1950.&nbsp;He continued his education at the University of Kansas, graduating with a degree in Personnel Administration from the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences in 1954.&nbsp;John also took advanced studies at the University of Colorado, Boulder and&nbsp;Mexico City University&nbsp;in Mexico City. He received his order to report to the United States Army and was inducted on Flag Day, June 14, 1955 where he reported to duty at Camp Carson in Colorado Springs, CO.&nbsp;He served in Frankfort Germany from November 1955 until he was honorably discharged on May 21, 1957.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; On June 1, 1963,&nbsp;he and Marcia Laing were married in Topeka and they made their home in Sherman County.&nbsp;&nbsp;They were married&nbsp;56&nbsp;years.&nbsp;&nbsp;Surviving family includes his wife Marcia Laing Golden,&nbsp;daughter&nbsp;Margaret Golden Bowker (Jeff,&nbsp;daughter&nbsp;Gennifer&nbsp;Golden House and&nbsp;son&nbsp;Richard Reed Golden (Kara). Grand&nbsp;children include Reed&nbsp;Addison&nbsp;Bowker, Claire&nbsp;Golden&nbsp;Bowker, Elizabeth&nbsp;Laing&nbsp;House,&nbsp;Andrew&nbsp;Atchley&nbsp;House, Taylor&nbsp;Marie&nbsp;Golden and Lauryn&nbsp;Reed&nbsp;Golden.&nbsp;John was proceeded in death by his mother Margaret Lynch,&nbsp;father Levi Dick&nbsp;and son-in-law Andrew&nbsp;Bret&nbsp;House.&nbsp; John was active in the Topside of Kansas.&nbsp;He began his public service as a Page in the 1948 Republican Convention in Philadelphia, PA where his father was elected as a delegate.&nbsp;John was a lifelong member of the Republican Party where he served as a catalyst and supporter of&nbsp;state and&nbsp;national initiatives.&nbsp;He served in the Kansas House of Representatives from 1961 – 1967.&nbsp;&nbsp;John introduced the initial legislation to allow the&nbsp;Board of&nbsp;Control of any area vocational-technical school in the State of Kansas to increase the tax levy for the benefit of a trade school.&nbsp;Northwest Kansas Area Vocational – Technical School was established after this bill was passed in December 1963.&nbsp;&nbsp;During his service&nbsp;in the House of Representatives, a proclamation was passed declaring Sherman County as the “Topside of Kansas.”&nbsp; John served as a Sherman County Commissioner for eight years presiding as Chairman for seven; served on the City Commission for 12 years and was honored to be Mayor of the great City of Goodland.&nbsp;He served as President of the Kansas League of Municipalities from 1994 to 1997.&nbsp;&nbsp;John was also on the City of Goodland’s first Planning Commission in the mid-60s and was the Northwest Kansas Planning and Development Chairman for seven years and Pioneer Country Development.&nbsp;His background taught him the value of transportation to haul crops from the farm to market and he was instrumental in passing the legislation of triple trailers into Kansas in 1990.&nbsp; John was undisputedly the Goodwill Ambassador to Goodland and Sherman County as he welcomed neighbors near and far to the “Topside of Kansas.”&nbsp;&nbsp;John&nbsp;was&nbsp;a past member of&nbsp;the Goodland Area Chamber of Commerce&nbsp;and a&nbsp;founding&nbsp;member of the&nbsp;Goodland Ambassadors,&nbsp;which&nbsp;began in&nbsp;1968.&nbsp;He was&nbsp;a member of&nbsp;Goodland Elks&nbsp;Lodge1528,&nbsp;a&nbsp;55+&nbsp;year&nbsp;member of the Goodland&nbsp;Masonic&nbsp;Lodge, and a&nbsp;Goodland Rotary, Paul Harris Fellow.&nbsp;&nbsp;John was a member of AA&nbsp;and&nbsp;counseled those in need for over 45 years.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; John was a proud Jayhawk and the University of Kansas’ biggest promoter in Sherman County.&nbsp;His happy place was at a KU Football game.&nbsp;He was a University of Kansas Alumni Association Lifetime Member and a member of the President’s Club, a supporter of the University of Kansas Williams Fund and the Sigma Nu Fraternity.&nbsp;John was a walking encyclopedia, a man of facts and statistics with a brilliant mind.&nbsp; As the owner and operator of Golden Wheat Ranch&nbsp;and Golden Farms, John engaged in farming and ranching his whole life.&nbsp;He was the President of KEMP Sugar Co.&nbsp;and Ad Astra Per Aspera, LLC.&nbsp;&nbsp;He was a strong supporter and promoter in establishing both sugar beets and the sunflower industries in Sherman County.&nbsp;John served as the Chairman and Founding member of the Mid-States Port Authority, which was formed in 1982 to keep the rail service from folding after the bankruptcy of the Rock Island Railroad. MSPA purchased 467.7 miles of short-line rail track from the Rock Island Bankruptcy Trust.&nbsp;John was named&nbsp;President in 1987 and continued to serve that role&nbsp;until his death.&nbsp;&nbsp;John has served on the Goodland State Bank /&nbsp;Bankwest&nbsp;Board of Directors since June 1960.&nbsp;In 1995, John was named Sherman County Agribusiness Person of the Year.&nbsp; John’s faith was his guide and he was proud to be a lifetime member of&nbsp;St. Paul's Episcopal Church.&nbsp;Of all his&nbsp;professional and community service&nbsp;endeavors,&nbsp;John’s proudest moment was&nbsp;receiving&nbsp;the&nbsp;Bishop Service Award from&nbsp;the Bishop of Western Kansas at the 2016 Diocese of Western Kansas Convention.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;John always promoted the Goodland neighborhood, “with its population base of just under one billion people,” and encouraged all of his “neighbors” to have the best day of their life.&nbsp;John’s final request to his family was to tell everyone in Northwest Kansas hello for him.&nbsp; Click <a href="https://www.koonsrussellfuneralhome.com/notices/John-Golden" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">HERE</a> for service details.

He was born on September 19, 1945, at Claremore, Oklahoma to Bural Lee and Anita (Record) Harris. He married Carol Yvonne Demanett on January 28, 1962, at Plainville. She died March 23, 2008. He then married Gailya (Rice) Crawford on August 8, 2019 at Great Bend. She survives. Coming from Plainville in 1969, Robert continued to work in the oil servicing industry his entire career and in 1994 became the General Manager for Kansas Acid. He continued his employment there to present. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, NRA, Eagle Lodge and API. Bob enjoyed the 4th July, and was an avid antique gun collector, actively competing in Cowboy Action Shooting competitions. Survivors include, his wife, Gailya of the home; three sons, Bob Harris and wife Kayci of Great Bend, Rick Harris and wife Ginny of Leawood and Brad Harris of Bartlesville, OK; two brothers, Tom Harris of Great Bend and Jerald Harris of Topeka; three sisters, Jacque Meitler of Glenwood Springs, CO, Patty Harris of Wichita and Dorothy Schmidt of Denver, CO; nine grandchildren; and three great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Carol; and a brother, Kenny Harris. He was born June 5, 1990 in Garden City the son of Michael and Janelda “Jae” (Hazen) Lohrmeyer.&nbsp;A cook at Old Chicago Pizza and Taproom in Hays, he enjoyed cooking and grilling, dogs, and spending time with his nieces and nephews. Survivors include his father; Michael Lohrmeyer of Hays, three brothers; Daniel Lohrmeyer and wife Tina of North Carolina, Dannie Lohrmeyer and wife Jazmine of Hays, and David Lohrmeyer and wife Sarah of Centennial, CO, a sister; Danielle Eitzmann and husband Leon of Belleville, paternal grandparents; Gale and Janice Lohrmeyer of Logan, and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. He was born on August 23, 1934 in Wichita, Kansas to Norman O. and Betty J. (LeMay) Reeves. Rick graduated from Dorrance High School with the class of 1952. After high school he joined the Air Force and got his start in the aviation industry. Rick was later employed by the FAA and worked at several airports during his 33 year career. He was united in marriage to Helen Ptacek on December 30, 1957 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Wilson, KS. They were blessed with eight children. Rick was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Lions Club, and American Legion Post 334. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, basketball, coaching softball, boating, and visiting with people. He loved farming; especially raising livestock, but what he enjoyed the most was his family. Rick is survived by his children Diane Reeves of El Dorado, Julie Sanborn and husband Jeff of Abilene, Alan Reeves and wife Becky of Wilson, Lori Reeves and partner Marilyn Garcia of Sylvan Grove, Kim Alexander and husband Wynn of Coldwater, Todd Reeves and wife Cherish of Scandia, Scott Reeves of Sylvan Grove, and Pam Johanek of Andover; thirty grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Norman and Betty; his wife, Helen; and brothers, Louis “Delbie” Reeves and Robbin Reeves. Three umbrella terms come to mind: fidelity, passion, and selfless. Rick’s life was marked by fidelity: tohis faith, his family, his friends, his church and his community. Fidelity is that rare Old Testament virtue by which one sticks to one conviction, dreams, vocation, through thick and thin. He was devoted to Helen, faithfully; he loved his children, and his grand and great grandchildren, regularly tracking with pride, their endeavors and achievements and praying for them continuously. We are grateful for the values and lessons he has passed on. Rick was a passionate man; about truth and right standards. He was most passionate about people. He was one of the most social beings ever met. He never knew a stranger. Within minutes of meeting someone new, he could be engaged and connected at a deep level of friendship. He loved to play cards, tell jokes, relate fascinating stories drawn from his life experiences. His favorite past time, his signature manner of communications was that of teasing. The gleam in his eyes, the chuckle in his voice revealed his delight in ribbing family and friends. Finally, Rick was an extraordinary servant. He served the church with tireless generosity. Rick marked out a way of life that is a challenge to our generosity, faith, dedication, and compassion. She was born on October 4, 1932, at Wilson, Okla. to Duane “D.M.” and Elizabeth (McKinnon) McCown.&nbsp;Pat graduated from Healdton High School in Healdton, Okla., in 1949. On June 16, 1952, she married the love of her life, Billy Joe “Bill” Patton in Oklahoma City. During their 68 year marriage, Bill’s work in the oil business took them to live in Odessa, Texas, Haysville, Wichita and Hoisington. During their time in Hoisington, she was employed for a short time with the Post Office, but her main profession was homemaker.&nbsp;Pat’s faith and her Church were very important to her. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Hoisington. Along with several other women, she was one of the founders of the Food Bank in Hoisington and was enthusiastically active in this endeavor.&nbsp;Survivors include, three sons, Michael Patton of Hoisington, Jon Patton and wife Rosa of Tribune, and Jim Patton and wife Diane of Maize; one daughter, Susan Waller and husband Tom of Garden City; one brother, Jon Roy McCown and wife Delma of Shawnee, Okla.; and 10 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Billy Joe "Bill" Patton; and two brothers, Robert Duane McCown and Richard Norman McCown.&nbsp;Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Dec. 6, 2019, at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home, with Reverend Seong Lee and Ron Bailey presiding. He was born November 28, 1947, in Emporia, to William and Florina June (Davidson) Marcellus, Sr. Bill married Donna Mearl (Dyer) Dec. 17, 1977, at Hoisington. She survives.&nbsp;Bill, a resident of Hoisington since 1977, was an accountant for APS and a career band and vocal teacher, teaching in Hoisington, Lewis and Wilson. He also took a lot of pride teaching a period of time in Kenya at a Bible College. Through the course of his working life, he was the pianist for Hoisington public schools, organist for several area churches, substitute teacher, and taught piano lessons. In his spare time, Bill collected stamps and coins, and together with Donna, Bill enjoyed flower gardening.&nbsp;Survivors include his wife, Donna; three daughters, Donita Donovan and husband Darrel of Hoisington, Veronica Ludwig of Olmitz, Florina Burns and husband Daniel of Puebla, Mexico; one sister, Margaret Hanson of Emporia; six grandchildren, Justin Ludwig and companion Erin Schmidt, Shawn Ludwig and wife Hannah, Dylan Donovan and wife Andrea, Devan Donovan and fiancée Andrew Hall, Azrielle Burns and Avianna Burns; five great grandchildren, Aria Donovan, Greyson Donovan, Wrenleigh Donovan, Molly Ludwig, and a great granddaughter expected to arrive soon. He was preceded in passing by his parents; and a son-in-law, Bob Ludwig.&nbsp;Funeral Service 2:30 p.m. Monday, December 2, 2019, at Hoisington Bible Church in Hoisington, with Pastor Gary Clark and Pastor Aaron Withrow presiding. Interment will follow at Hoisington Cemetery, Hoisington. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 1, and 9 to 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 2, all at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home, 415 N. William Jacob 'Bill' Marcellus

He was born at Arkansas City, Kansas on April 5, 1925, the son of Floyd and Lillian (Morgan) Wright. He graduated from Arkansas City High School in 1943. A World War II veteran, he served in the 63rd Armored Infantry Battalion of the 11th Armored Division. Wounded in action in Andernach, Germany on March 9, 1945, he was honorably discharged at the O’Reilly General (Army) Hospital at Springfield, Missouri on May 21, 1946. He attended Arkansas City Junior College, and graduated from the University of Kansas School of Law in 1950, and practiced law at Larned from then until his retirement in 2001. On May 2, 1954, he married Joan McDowell at Pratt, she survives him.&nbsp; Other surviving family members include; a brother, Willard Wright of Austin, Texas; his daughter Beth Wright and husband Craig Chisholm of Omaha, Nebraska; two grandsons, Bryan of Prairie Village and Nolan of Wichita, the children of his deceased son, Wyatt Wright, and Pam Wright of Overland Park, Wyatt’s surviving wife; his sister, Betty Wright Smith predeceased him. He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Larned. Cremation has taken place. A private family service and inurnment will be at Riverview Cemetery, Arkansas City, at a later date. Chester Dale Smith, 88, passed away November 29, 2019 at Sunflower Meadows, Wichita, KS. He was born August 17, 1931 in Dodge City, Kansas; the son of Mike and Hazel Crouse Smith.&nbsp;A longtime area resident; he was an electrician and an oil field worker.He was a member of the Church of Christ in Larned. Freda was born on July 18, 1916, in Bird City, KS to Adolph and Julesie Z. (Hansson) Gemmer.&nbsp;She was one of six children.&nbsp;She graduated from Edson High School in 1934.&nbsp;Following graduation she went on and completed a summer class at K-State to receive her teaching certificate. On November 9, 1941, Freda married Harlan B. House in Goodland at the Methodist Church parsonage.&nbsp;To this union, four children were born; Harlan, Lorna, Linda, and LeAnn.&nbsp; Freda taught first through 8th grade in rural Sherman County.&nbsp;Most of all she enjoyed working as a homemaker and raising her family.&nbsp;She enjoyed working with youth in Church and 4-H, and volunteered in the local schools. Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, one grandson Andy House, 3 sisters and 2 brothers. She is survived by her four children; son Harlan and Cora House of Goodland, KS, daughter Lorna and Leonard Nelson of Arvada, CO, daughter Linda and Gerald Franklin of Goodland, KS , and daughter LeAnn House and Shelley Gruskin of Duluth, MN.&nbsp;She is also survived by twelve grandchildren and twenty one great grandchildren. Private family burial was held at the Goodland Cemetery, Goodland, KS with Pastor Zach Anderson officiating. Michael Warren Ridgley, 54, of Russell, passed away Monday, November 25, 2019 at the Hospice House of Hutchinson in Hutchinson, Kansas. Surviving family include his wife Lorrie of the home, two daughters, Alisha Livingston of Missouri and Carol Ridgley of Russell, Kansas; step daughter, Sommer Acheson of Russell, Kansas; father, Marvin Ridgley of Russell, Kansas; brother, James Ridgley, Sr. (Jolene) of Russell, Kansas; sister, Jill Jones (Dave) of Russell, Kansas; and 5 grandchildren.&nbsp;Michael was preceded in death by his mother, Joyce. Kathleen Ann (Rafferty) Foss, 67, of Great Bend, Kansas and formerly of Russell, Kansas, passed away at her home in Great Bend on November 25, 2019. Kathleen was born January 4, 1952 in Russell, the daughter of Clyde W. and Beulah (Cornwell) Rafferty.&nbsp;She grew up in Russell and Osborne, Kansas and graduated from Russell High School in 1970.&nbsp;Later she attended a Cosmetology School in Great Bend. Kathleen was united in marriage to Mark “Shorty” Dumler in June of 1970.&nbsp;This union was blessed with a daughter, Tracial.&nbsp;They made their home in Russell until they divorced in 1981.&nbsp;In 1981 she moved to Salina, Kansas then in 1986 she lived in Hutchinson.&nbsp;She then moved to Liberal, Kansas, in 1990 and lived there until 2002 when she returned to Russell. Kathleen was a Sales Representative for many media outlets in the Kansas area.&nbsp;She worked for KAKE TV, Cox Communications, KSKU and The B in Hutchinson.&nbsp;She was a member of the Russell Elks Lodge.&nbsp;She enjoyed reading, writing, drawing, spending time at the lake and taking care of animals. Kathleen’s surviving family include her daughter, Traci Dumler of Hutchinson, Kansas; sister, Clydell Steinert (Carl) of Chase, Kansas; three grandchildren, Abigail Dumler, Gabrelle Bafford and Kelley Bafford; great grandson, Kyelyn Newlin; and several nieces and nephews.&nbsp;She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Gale Rafferty. Services are pending with Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary.

(Gipe) Alexander. He was united in marriage on August 26, 1967 in Almena, KS to Gayle L. Troutner.&nbsp;She survives of the home. Other survivors include his two daughters, Carmen Alexander of Newbury Park, CA and Candice Stevens of Almena, KS; a brother, Lyman Delimont of Almena, KS; a sister, Joanne Miller of Almena, KS; 7 grandchildren; and 5 great grandchildren. Paul was born July 16th 1962 in Wichita to parents Richard Dean and Sonja Marie (Fagen) Wasko. He graduated from Hanston High School in 1981. After high school, Paul attended Fort Hays State University and graduated in 1985. On January 21, 1989, he was united in marriage to Judy Ravenstein at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Jetmore, Kansas. Paul was openly proud of their daughters, Cassie, Rachel and Sara. Paul was a lifetime area resident and spent his life farming and ranching. He was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church. Paul was a thirty plus year member of the Hodgeman County Farm Bureau where he served in many capacities at the local and state level. He was honored to be the receipt of the Farm Bureau Farm Family Of The Year Award in 2008. He thoroughly enjoyed helping with the Hodgeman County Fair Pedal Pull and looked forward to cheering on the kids every year. He is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Judy Wasko, Hanston; his parents, Richard and Sonja Wasko, Hanston; three daughters, Cassandra (Jake) Miller, Culbertson, NE, Rachel (Drew) Reida, Wichita, Sara (Zach Hendrixson) Wasko, Jetmore; brother, Kurt (Kim) Wasko, Winfield; two sisters, Ronna (George) Schmidt, Tribune, Donna (Chad) Kirk, Minneola; two grandchildren, Jaax Reida and Cora Miller as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
