Betty Jean Weber, age 83, of Ellis passed away Wednesday, February 5, 2020 at Parkwood Village in Pratt, Kansas. She was born March 21, 1936 in Ellis, Kansas to Rudolph and Regina (Reitmeyer) Augustine. She graduated from Ellis High School. She married Robert Francis Weber June 7, 1954 in Ellis, Kansas. He preceded her in death November 15, 2016.

In addition to raising six children Betty worked at Travenol for over ten years before retiring. She enjoyed cooking, crafts and sewing.&nbsp; She was a member of St. Mary’s Church in Ellis.

She is survived by Children: Renee Rust (Doug) of Cypress, TX, Pam Strack (Dan) of Ridgeland, MS, Alan Weber (Sally)of Lenexa, KS, Kelly McDermeit (Mike) of Pratt, KS, Susie Nulton (Mike) of Ft. Garland, CO; grandchildren: Steven and James Rust, Blake, Cody and Chelsea Strack, Ross Weber and Jaclyn Dougan, Paige Prater and Brooke Tate, Savannah and Tanner Nulton and great grandchildren, Jude and Mila Dougan, Emily, Charlie and Daniel Rust, Isaac and Link Strack; a sister, Irene Normandin and brothers, Gilbert, Vergil, Richard, Rudolph, Arnold and Darrell Augustine.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Mark Weber; sisters, Shirley Leikam and infant Dorothy Augustine and a brother, Alvin Augustine.

Funeral services will be 10 AM Tuesday, February 11, 2020 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Ellis. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery.

Visitation will be Monday 6 PM - 8 PM with a combined parish vigil and rosary at 7 PM all at Keithley Funeral Chapel 400 E 17th Ellis, KS 67637

Cora Eleanora (Younger) Sawazhki, 96, beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones and family on February 7, 2020 at St. Francis Hospital in Topeka, KS.

Cora was born May 17, 1923 in Antonino, Kansas to Peter and Catherine Younger. She married Richard Sawazhki on January 22, 1946 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ellis, Kansas. Cora spent many years babysitting and doing in home daycare.

Cora loved doing seamstress work. She made numerous outfits including her daughter’s wedding dress. Cora was a longtime member of Sacred Heart Church and the Daughters of Isabella. Cora spent countless hours over many decades volunteering at Let’s Help. Some of her favorite times were spent playing bingo and going to garage sales. She also enjoyed watching the Kansas City Royals and KU basketball.

She was preceded in death by her husband Richard, brothers Severin, Victor, Alvin, Joe and Edward. She is survived by her children, Charlene Appelhanz (Richard, Richard Jr Sawazhki (Anne, and Michael Sawazhki. Siblings, Mary (Bob, Richard (Betty, Norman, Frank, and six grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 11, 2020 from 5:00- 8:00 p.m. at Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home. Rosary will be prayed at 5:30 p.m.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, February 12, 2020 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church at 9:00 a.m.

Edward Dean Meyers, 66, passed away on February 6, 2020 at his home 
in Bazine, Kansas. He was born on March 5, 1953 in McCook, Nebraska the 
son of Duane and Laura (Deeds) Meyers.

Edward was a truck driver. He married Gloria Banzhaf on February 27, 1988, in McCook, Nebraska. They later divorced.

Survivors include: two sons, Jeremy Meyers of Bazine, Shane Banzhaf 
of Baltimore, Maryland; a brother, Kenneth (Becky) Meyers of McCook, 
Nebraska; a sister, Diane (Tom) Kauk of McCook, Nebraska; and 3 
grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, and two 
brothers, Allen and Gene Meyers.

Cremation has taken place and funeral services will be announced at a later date.

Marion “Faye” Bauer, 89, Hays, died Friday, February 7, 2020 at Via Christi Village.

She was born October 6, 1930 in Utica, 
Kansas the daughter of Thomas “Tom” and Juanita (Lehman) Norton.&nbsp; On 
January 4, 1949 she was united in marriage to David Walter “Dave” Bauer 
and they celebrated nearly 60 years of marriage before he preceded her 
in death on January 3, 2009.&nbsp; &nbsp;Along with her husband Dave, Faye was a 
farmwife and a custodian at Roosevelt School for 27 years and a number 
of students saw them as an extra pair of grandparents.&nbsp; A member of 
Messiah Lutheran Church, Faye was very active in her church and enjoyed 
volunteering for church projects and baking cookies at Christmas time.&nbsp; 
She was also a volunteer at the Hays Public Library, the Community 
Assistance Center, and was very much a servant to the community.&nbsp; She 
enjoyed gardening and quilting, was a fantastic cook and baker, and her 
family always anticipated the holidays and her delicious butterballs.

Faye is survived by two daughters:&nbsp; 
Susan F. Wolf and husband Bob of Hays, and Nancy E. Meitl and husband 
Duane of Rush Center, a daughter-in-law:&nbsp; Cindy Bauer of Hays, two 
sisters:&nbsp; Wilma Ochs and husband Norman of Granbury, TX, and Judith 
Carter and husband Herb of Colorado Springs, CO, ten grandchildren:&nbsp; 
Jeff Wolf (Jenny, Chrissy Bandel (Corey, Curtis Wolf, Shelly New 
(Greg, Tara Comerci (Ben, Tessa Mayfield (Derek, Jennifer Conrad 
(Keith, Rhonda Hughes (Evan, Cory Bauer (Cassie, and Joey Bauer, 
twenty great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her

JoAnn Cecilia (Stramel) Billinger, age 77, of Victoria, Kansas died

Winona Mae Strange, age 86, of 
Comanche, peacefully passed away on Tuesday evening, January 28, 2020 in
 Duncan, OK.&nbsp; Winona was born on September 12, 1933 in Liberal, Kansas 
to Omas and Clara (Nass) Stickert.&nbsp; She graduated from Liberal High 
School.&nbsp; In June of 1952 she and TJ Strange were united in marriage in 
Clayton, New Mexico.&nbsp;&nbsp;

She retired from Southwest Title and 
Abstract Company in 1985. In the early 1990’s they moved to Duncan, and 
later then to Comanche.&nbsp; Winona was known as a great cook.&nbsp; She used to 
enjoy riding both horses, and motorcycles. She loved working in her 
garden.&nbsp; She had a great love for her pets, including dogs and cats.&nbsp; 
Winona was an active member of the Comanche Garden Club and also the Red
 Hat Society.

Survivors include her husband TJ, of 
the home; one daughter, Debbie Grabbe, Hays, Kansas; two grandsons: 
Matthew Grabbe and wife Jennifer, Hays, Kansas; John Grabbe and wife 
Julie, Hays, Kansas; four grandchildren: Jackson Grabbe, Ren Grabbe, 
Wyatt Grabbe, and Mark Grabbe.&nbsp; Also, a brother-in-law, Bill Strange and
 wife Claudia, Canton, Ohio.

Winona was preceded in death by her parents, and her son-in-law Michael Grabbe.

Winona was an active member of the Comanche Garden Club and also the Red

the home; one daughter, Debbie Grabbe, Hays, Kansas; two grandsons:

Harlan W. Ritter passed away Monday, February 3, 2020.&nbsp; He was born 
May 11,1941, to Ralph and Marie Ritter in Hoisington, Kansas. He was 
preceded in death by his parents and youngest sister Lonetta Perrotti. 
He is survived by his wife Rita and son Darrin of Houston, Texas; 
brother, Darwin Ritter and wife Vicki; sister, Nancy Clark and husband 
Randy, all of Salina, Kansas;&nbsp;and brother-in-law, Adam Perrotti of 
Flemington, New Jersey; plus many nieces and nephews.

Harlan graduated from Hoisington High School in 1959 and Ft. Hays 
State college in 1964.&nbsp; He started to work for Missouri Pacific Railroad
 in 1961 and upon graduation from college pursued a career in railroad 
management. His career included positions with Missouri Pacific, Union 
Pacific, Houston Belt Terminal, Texas City Terminal and Kansas City 
Southern railroads.

Cremation has taken place. Memorial service&nbsp;will be 2 p.m., Friday, 
February 21, 2020, at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor 
Sandy Kennedy presiding. Family will greet friends from 1 to 2p.m. prior
 to the service. Burial to follow at the Hoisington City Cemetery.

Velma Jean Winter, 89, passed away February 5, 2020 in La Crosse.

Jean was born April 22, 1930 in Marina Township, Hodgeman County to Ralph Jacob and Laura Mae Cox Brown.

A lifetime Hodgeman and Pawnee County resident, she was a teacher, a homemaker and a farm wife. She was of the Methodist faith.

On May 21, 1949 she married Henry O. Winter at Burdett; he survives.

Other survivors include: two sons, Roland O. (Marlene) Winter, Keith 
Winter, both of Burdett; a daughter, Lana Jean (David) Strom, Des 
Moines, IA; a sister, Myrna Kaiser, Delphos; three grandchildren, 
Rolland Winter, Jolene Roth, and Julianna Montgomery; five great 
grandchildren, Alexis Winter, Jake Montgomery, Joey Montgomery, Cameron 
Roth, Haley Roth; one great-great granddaughter, Evie Winter.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Dwight 
Brown, Robert Brown, and Donald Brown; two sisters, Louise Herl, and 
Janelda O’Brien.

Russell "Rusty" C. Williams III, 62, of Russell, Kansas, died on Wednesday, February 05, 2020, at the Chandler Regional Hospital in Chandler, Arizona, while living in Arizona.

Rusty was born on August 02, 1957, in Colorado Springs, Colorado, the son of Russell C., Jr. and Gail (Sack) Williams.  He grew up in Russell and graduated from Russell High School in the class of 1975, and after high school attended Ft. Hays State University in Hays, Kansas.  He married Pam Ehrlich in Russell, Kansas, and from this union he was blessed with two daughters Heather and Lindsay.  Later in life he and Pam were divorced and Rusty found love a second time with Crystal Davis.  Rusty was in the in the oil field industry and started out working in the family business with RC Williams Incorporated.  Later he was an oil investor and was owner and operator in H &amp;L Productions and other businesses.  He and Crystal enjoyed sharing their time in Russell and Sun Lakes, Arizona.  He was a former member of Elks and Shrine.  He enjoyed working and investing in Oil ventures, gambling and drinking the Glenlivet Scotch.  Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends playing golf.

Surviving family include his longtime companion Crystal Davis of the home; daughters Heather Mayberry Williams of Salina, Kansas and Lindsay Lawrence and husband Melvin of Airway Heights, Washington; mother Gail Williams of Russell, Kansas; father Russell C. Williams, Jr. and wife Donna of Great Bend, Kansas; brothers Randy Williams and Tim Williams; sisters Kim Williams, Tammy Fuller and Jani Cook  and 5 grandkids.  He was preceded in death by his grandparents.

A celebration of Rusty's life will be held from 4 P.M. to 7 P.M. on February 13, 2020, at the Elks Lodge in Russell, Kansas.  Food and drink will be available for the funeral guests.  Cremation has been selected by the family.  The family would like in lieu of flowers to please make contributions to the Russell High School Golf Team and sent in care of the mortuary.  Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary of Russell, Kansas, is in charge of the funeral service arrangements.

Dale Leon Pruter, 64, of Great Bend, Kansas, passed away Tuesday, February 4, 2020 at his residence in Dundee, Kansas.

Dale is the oldest son of Orville and Betty (Zweifel) Pruter of Natoma, Kansas.&nbsp; He was born January 19, 1956 at the Plainville Hospital.&nbsp; Later he was joined by four more brothers and sister.&nbsp; He went to school in Plainville, and graduated from Plainville High School with the Class of 1974.

Dale served his country in the U. S. Marines.

Dale was united in marriage to Jane Thummel at the Church of the Nazarene in Plainville on November 24, 1979.&nbsp; They had three children; Joel, Amanda and Katie.

Dale was a Social Worker and later a Teacher in Syracuse, Kansas.&nbsp; He worked with foreign exchange students.&nbsp; Dale had traveled to Europe many times.

Dale loved his animals of all kinds.&nbsp; He enjoyed gardening, antiques, cooking and playing with his grandkids.&nbsp; He moved back to Natoma then to Great Bend where he has spent the last 20 years.&nbsp; He also worked at Loves Country Store.

Dale’s surviving family include his son, Joel Pruter (Erin) of Hays, Kansas; two daughters, Amanda Markley (Andrew) of Goodland, Kansas and Katie Snodgrass (Geoffrey) of Spavinaw, Oklahoma; father and mother, Orville and Betty Pruter of Natoma, Kansas; four grandchildren, Rayne Markley, Jensen Markley, Itzhak Pruter and Avram Pruter; four brothers, Gale Pruter (Teresa) of Osborne, Kansas, Daryl Pruter (Lisa) of Neodesha, Kansas, Doug Pruter (Dina) of Hays, Kansas and Kevin Pruter (France) of Blue Springs, Missouri; eight nieces and nephews, and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.&nbsp; He was preceded in death by his sister Susan LaJoy Pruter.

Vesta Juliette Pratt was born on April 20, 1919, at the family farm northwest of Wakeeney, Kansas, to Walter and Ethel Moden. She graduated from Union 1 Grade School in Wakeeney in 1932 and subsequently graduated from Trego County High School in 1936. She then taught in the Trego grade schools for a while before going to Ft. Hays State University from 1938 to 1941 when she completed her major in Business Administration and Secretarial science in 1941 While at Ft. Hays, she not only worked at the Experiment Station for one year but met her future husband, Henry Pratt whom she married on January 11, 1943 and who predeceased her on March 27, 1996.

In July 1953, she and the children joined Hank in Japan where he had been recalled to service for the Korean Conflict. Before the family's return to the United States in 1961, Vesta who had a life-long interest in art took private lessons under Professor Kohei Aeita where she learned to do sumi painting and traditional Japanese painting on silk. She also took classes under various Japanese instructors in photography, woodcarving, flower arranging, sketching as well as oil and water painting. Woodcarving almost did her in as the shellac the Japanese use is sumac based and she had to be hospitalized for the severe poisoning. Her work was exhibited at the American Cultural Center in Yokohama. She was the recipient of many awards in the numerous shows that she had entered. She also had an interest in the physical world as well as the art world as evidenced by her climbing Mt. Fuji in 1957. It was not all play and no work in Japan as Vesta worked in the Command Section Headquarters of the Far Eastern Exchange Service in Ofuna, Japan for three years and at North Pier Terminal in Yokohama for a year. The highlight of her employment in Japan was flying to Seoul, Korea for an Area Council Meeting and making a trip to the DMZ at Panmunjom. Very exciting, particularly at that time.

Upon returning to the States, Mom after various moves from California to Kansas to Virginia to California went back to Kansas where she obtained a second major in art in 1969 at Ft. Hays specializing in graphics. That same year Mom and Hank moved to Kansas City, MO where she subsequently took printmaking at the

Kansas City Art Institute in 1971 and batik at Avila College in 1972. She was Vice-President of the Greater Kansas City Art Association in 1974-1975 as well as a member of the Tri-County Art League. When Hank retired in 1977, he and mom traveled extensively from their home at Clinton Lake, Kansas in the winter months throughout the South, Southwest and Mexico where she was able to sketch and paint the scenery of various State and National Parks. In 1994, Hank and Mom moved from Clinton to Wakeeney where she indulged in her great passion of yard and garden work while pursuing her artistic endeavors and of course caring for Penny, her boon companion little dog for many years. In June, 2012, Mom went to live with her daughter, Megan and son-in-law, Pat Hemming at their residence in Greeley, CO until her passing.

Mom was a member of the greatest generation having her youth in the Dirty Thirties, the Great Depression and WWII. She will be sorely missed by her family, relatives and friends.

Vesta was predeceased in death by her parents; sisters Vera (twin, Mija, Elene, Anna and Emily; brothers, John, Walter Il and Ernest; husband, Hank; sons, Bill and Dan; and grandson, Nicholas Hemming.

She is survived by her children, son, H. Jonathan Pratt, and daughter, Megan Kathleen Hemming; and granddaughter, Brigette Hemming.

Services will be held late this spring at the Studley, Kansas, Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests a contribution to breast cancer research.

A memorial service for&nbsp;Marla Gail (Long) Deines will be 11 a.m. Saturday, February 15, 2020, at Presbyterian Church of WaKeeney, 332 N. Sixth, WaKeeney. Casual attire is appropriate.

Marla was born on April 29, 1955 to James and Margaret (Schneider) Long in WaKeeney, Kansas.

She attended WaKeeney public schools and was a 1973 graduate of Trego Community High School.&nbsp; As an alumna of Fort Hays State University, Marla received Bachelor’s Degrees in German, Spanish, and Psychology, and a Master’s Degree in ESL.&nbsp; She also studied abroad in Germany and Costa Rica, and taught ESL in China.&nbsp;

Marla married Stanley H. Deines on November 17, 1973 in WaKeeney, Kansas.&nbsp; Together they had three sons: Joshua James, Lucas Herman, and Eastin Stanley.&nbsp; Eastin Stanley preceded Marla in death.

Early married life consisted of many long days of work on the farm, as Marla could work cattle and drive combine with the best of them.&nbsp; Marla and Stan traveled many places across the United States to support their sons in their various sports activities.&nbsp; Those long road trips were filled with songs, laughter and pizza. To save a few bucks, they stayed in budget motels. The money saved was quickly spent on Lysol. The best times were family times.

Marla taught school for 30 years in the Ellis and Hays, Kansas public schools.&nbsp; While teaching, she received an Associate Degree in Parish Ministry and served as a minister at Prairie Faith Shared Ministry in Trego and Ellis Counties, Faith Lutheran in Osborne, and First Presbyterian in WaKeeney. &nbsp; &nbsp;

In 2015, Marla and Stan moved to Redondo Beach, California to retire and live near family, especially their beautiful grandchildren, Kai Eastin and Jamie Margaret.&nbsp; With boundless energy in retirement, Marla channeled her love for education and children as an instructional aide at Jefferson Elementary School and volunteered with Beach Cities Health District and Trinity Lutheran Church.

After her battle with metastatic breast cancer, Marla passed away peacefully at home on Monday, November 4, 2019.&nbsp; She is survived by her husband, Stanley; son Joshua and his wife, Belinda; son Lucas and his wife, Michelle; and two grandchildren, Kai and Jamie. &nbsp;

She loved being a teacher and a minister, a wife and a mother, but most of all, a grandmother.&nbsp; Marla, also known as “Gramms,” will be missed.&nbsp;

Casual attire is appropriate.Marla was born on April 29, 1955 to James and Margaret (Schneider) Long in WaKeeney, Kansas.She attended WaKeeney public schools and was a 1973 graduate of Trego Community High School.&nbsp; As an alumna of Fort Hays State University, Marla received Bachelor’s Degrees in German, Spanish, and Psychology, and a Master’s Degree in ESL.&nbsp; She also studied abroad in Germany and Costa Rica, and taught ESL in China.&nbsp;Marla married Stanley H. Deines on November 17, 1973 in WaKeeney, Kansas.&nbsp; Together they had three sons: Joshua James, Lucas Herman, and Eastin Stanley.&nbsp; Eastin Stanley preceded Marla in death.Early married life consisted of many long days of work on the farm, as Marla could work cattle and drive combine with the best of them.&nbsp; Marla and Stan traveled many places across the United States to support their sons in their various sports activities.&nbsp; Those long road trips were filled with songs, laughter and pizza. To save a few bucks, they stayed in budget motels. The money saved was quickly spent on Lysol. Friday, January 31, 2020 at Hays Medical Center in Hays, Kansas. &nbsp;

Kelly was born August 13, 1978 to William and Maureen (Watkins) Brown
 in Denver, Colorado. &nbsp;She grew up and went to school in Colby, Kansas. 
&nbsp;On January 18, 2002 she married Rodney Box. &nbsp;Kelly worked as a 
Certified Nurse Assistant at Cheyenne Wells Manor in Cheyenne Wells, 
Colorado for many years. &nbsp;She attended the Risen King Community Church 
in Weskan, loved going to her kids sporting events and anything else she
 could to spend time with family and friends, she was one of those 
people that you could always depend on to take care of you. &nbsp;Kelly&nbsp;will 
be dearly missed. &nbsp;

Preceding her in death are her grandparents and grandson, James Guay. &nbsp;

She is survived by her parents; husband, Rodney Box; daughter, Emma

Warren Norman Shirer, 92, died February 5, 2020, at Country Place 
Senior Living, Hoisington. 

He was born November, 4, 1927, in Three 
Sands, Oklahoma, the son of Raymond A. and Elsa Leah (Johnston) Shirer. 
Warren graduated from Hoisington High School in 1945. He then served as a
 sergeant with the United States Army from 1946 until 1947.

A lifetime Hoisington resident, Warren was the owner and president of Shirer Well Service Inc., retiring in 1988.

He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Hoisington; a 70 
year member of the Masonic Lodge #331, Hoisington. He was also members 
of the Wichita Consistory and the Isis Shrine of Salina. Warren was a 
past member of the Hoisington City Council, a lifetime member of the 
V.F.W. Post #7428, and a member of the Great Bend Elks Lodge.

On August 2, 1954, he married Irene F. Dietz, in Santa Fe, New Mexico. She preceded him in death on September 7, 1994.

Survivors include; a son, Brad Shirer and wife Sarah of Great Bend, 
daughter, Kayla Griffin and husband Steve of Salina; granddaughter, 
Kristen Seager and husband Scott of Highlands Ranch, Colorado, grandson,
 Nolan Griffin and wife Jackie of Ankeny, Iowa, and four great 
grandchildren, Phoebe, Griffin, and Joel Seager, and Lennon Griffin.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Irene; brother, Robert Shirer, and nephew, Reed Shirer.

Friends may call 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, with family to receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.

Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, February, 8, 2020, at 
First United Methodist Church, Hoisington, with Rev. Seong Lee &amp; 
Steve Griffin presiding. Burial with military honors will follow in

Beverly Ann Wilcox, 78, passed away February 3, 2020 at her home, Pawnee Rock.

She was born May 14, 1941 in Birmingham, Alabama; the daughter of 
Rufus Houston and Lillie Mae Fortenberry Greathouse.&nbsp; A lifetime area 
resident; she worked in housekeeping at the Larned State Hospital and 
most recently enjoyed working at Scooters.

Her family and friends knew her best as Nana or Nanny.

She married LaVerne R. Wilcox, they divorced and he passed away 
September 27, 2017.&nbsp; Her companion was Gary Jost; he passed away March 
15, 2018.

Survivors include; a sister, Joyce Sucht, Wichita and three 
grandchildren, Stiles Cantrell, Larned, Stormie Cantrell and Emeri 
Cantrell both of Surprise, Arizona.

She was preceded in death by; her son, Ricky Dean Wilcox, five 
brothers, Kerry Greathouse, Charles Greathouse, Caris Greathouse, Ralph 
Greathouse and Jerry Greathouse, and a sister, Barbara Erway.

Cremation has taken place and memorial service with inurnment in the Pawnee Rock Cemetery will be at a later date.&nbsp;

Belinda Rae Bauer (Stutterheim, beloved daughter of John and Hazel (Brunson) Stutterheim was born in Norton, Kansas on November 5, 1949, and peacefully passed away at the Andbe Home in Norton on February 3, 2020, at the age of 70.

 Belinda grew up in Prairie View and graduated Logan High School. Belinda married the love of her life, Tom Bauer in Prairie View, Kansas. They made their home in Almena where they raised their two boys, Cory and Joey. She worked at the Norton State Hospital for several years before becoming a cook at the Andbe Home.

 Belinda loved spending time with her family, polka, square-dancing, and waltz dancing at family dances and anniversaries. Her greatest love was her family, especially her children and grandchildren. 

 Survivors include: her loving two boys, Joey Bauer, Council Bluffs, IA; Cory Bauer, Fairbury, NE; three grandchildren; mother-in-law, Faye Bauer, Hays, KS; two sisters, Rebecca Smith, Kansas City, KS; Cynthia, and husband, Linley Woelk, Cedar Rapids, IA; two sisters-in-law, Nancy Meitl, Rush Center, KS; Susan Wolf, Hays, KS; several other relatives and friends.

Belinda Rae Bauer (Stutterheim

Born on May 16, 1937 in Decatur County to Emery and Crystal (Brunk) Johnson. 

Carolyn grew up on the family farm close to Norcatur spending her youth in the house her grandfather built and attending school in Norcatur, Kansas.  She started playing the piano in grade school and attended the Rocky Mountain Music Academy in Estes Park, Colorado where she developed her love of music. In 1955 she graduated from Norcatur High and moved to Denver to attend the Parks business school and worked.  She married her high school sweetheart Glen Strevey February 3, 1956 in Boulder Colorado and was married for 64 years.  

 Carolyn and Glen lived in the Denver area starting a family and working.  They moved to Lawrence, Kansas where Carolyn worked at the University of Kansas school of education and Hallmark cards. Carolyn loved being a mother and by the time Carolyn and Glen moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota in 1961, the family had grown to 5 with sons Greg (4, Dan (2) and daughter Lisa being just 4 weeks old. She devoted herself to the kids, playing music and supporting the growing family.  By 1964 the family had grown to 6 with the birth of son, Tom. Soon they moved to Rocket City (Huntsville, Alabama) and lived close to Marshall Space Flight Center (Redstone Arsenal) where the Saturn 5 booster rocket was being tested for the Moon mission. 

The family settled down in Boulder in 1965 where she raised four kids, and helped to raise her grandchildren. She shared her love of music, literature and art with her children, grandchildren and others by volunteering for the Boulder Philharmonic Orchestra and, when the Boulder Chorale was being formed, she played piano.  She attended the University of Colorado and graduated in 1981 with a minor in music and a major in accounting. She had many pets throughout her life but she was especially fond of cats. She traveled to many places in the world returning to Europe frequently and the far east.  She enjoyed experiencing and connecting with local cultures and customs, even if it was risky at times.  She always saw the best in everyone and everything.    In 2008 Carolyn returned to her Kansas roots on the family farm. She renovated the house where she grew up and she spent the final years of her life surrounded by family and friends.  The family grew over the years to 14 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren living in different countries and cultures.

She is survived by her husband Glen Strevey, Brother Von(Joy) Johnson, Brother in law Bob (Kay) Strevey, Children Greg, Dan, Lisa and Tom,14 Grandchildren and 6 Great grandchildren.

Carolyn Jo (Johnson) Strevey

A sigh, a breath, a single heartbeat was too great a distance for the
 love that Iris and Vernon Irvin shared for over 70 years. So Iris 
stepped back into Vernon’s loving embrace on February 4th, 2020, a mere 
nine days after his own heavenly home-coming, free at last from the 
disease that restricted her for so long. Those listening closely could 
hear the sweet music of joyous reunion when Iris, Vernon and their 
cherished daughter Becky gathered in their Father’s glorious mansion.

The daughter of John Henry Harding and Hazel Florence Sexson Harding,
 Iris was born on June 6, 1927 in Goodland, KS. After graduating from 
Goodland High School, Iris attended Brown Mackie College in Salina, KS. 
Upon completion, Iris returned to Goodland where she was employed as a 
legal secretary to her cousin, attorney Max L. Jones. It was there that 
she met the dashing Vernon Irvin. He fell immediately for her sparkling 
green eyes, sweet smile and keen intelligence. They were married October
 30, 1949 in Goodland, where they made their home.

Iris was a devoted wife and tremendous support to Vernon in the 
building of their successful farming enterprise. A loving and dedicated 
mother, she volunteered - or was volunteered by her children - for 
innumerable school and church activities. A most gifted and creative 
person, Iris excelled at just about any project she undertook. Her 
family cherishes the quilts, afghans, cross stitch, decoupage and other 
hand-made treasures she created. She was equally skilled in the kitchen,
 and her grandchildren still crave her Shipwreck Casserole, her 
incredible cinnamon rolls, her delicious fresh corn dishes and special 
home-made ice cream. Music and laughter filled the rooms and coming to 
Grandma’s house was always a high adventure and yearned-for opportunity.
 Iris had a passion for genealogy long before the Internet made it a 
popular and effortless undertaking. Her quests for information took her 
to Salt Lake City, Dodge City and beyond. She wrote innumerable letters,
 searched archival sources and followed every possible lead to reap the 
limbs and leaves of her family tree and the rich stories of their 
ancestry, a precious heritage for her family.

Very active in her community, Iris was a devout member of the 
Goodland United Methodist Church, the church Women’s Circle, EHU and 
DAR, serving in official roles in each organization for many years. She 
looked forward to the monthly Class and Cousin coffees, visiting with 
friends and extended family.

In addition to her beloved husband Vernon, Iris was preceded in death
 by her parents, her brothers Lowell, Dale, and Warren Harding, and her 
cherished eldest child Rebecca Jane Irvin Smith. She is survived by her 
adoring children Patricia Irvin O’Brien (Terry) of Basehor, KS, Douglas 
Irvin (Jeanne) of Goodland, KS, and Michael Irvin (Robin) of Mesa, AZ, 
and her son-in-law Michael Smith (Elizabeth) of Tallahassee, FL. She is

 </figure>A sigh, a breath, a single heartbeat was too great a distance for the
 love that Iris and Vernon Irvin shared for over 70 years. So Iris 
stepped back into Vernon’s loving embrace on February 4th, 2020, a mere 
nine days after his own heavenly home-coming, free at last from the 
disease that restricted her for so long. Those listening closely could 
hear the sweet music of joyous reunion when Iris, Vernon and their 
cherished daughter Becky gathered in their Father’s glorious mansion.The daughter of John Henry Harding and Hazel Florence Sexson Harding,
 Iris was born on June 6, 1927 in Goodland, KS. After graduating from 
Goodland High School, Iris attended Brown Mackie College in Salina, KS. 
Upon completion, Iris returned to Goodland where she was employed as a 
legal secretary to her cousin, attorney Max L. Jones. It was there that 
she met the dashing Vernon Irvin. He fell immediately for her sparkling 
green eyes, sweet smile and keen intelligence. They were married October
 30, 1949 in Goodland, where they made their home.Iris was a devoted wife and tremendous support to Vernon in the 
building of their successful farming enterprise. A loving and dedicated 
mother, she volunteered - or was volunteered by her children - for 
innumerable school and church activities. A most gifted and creative 
person, Iris excelled at just about any project she undertook. Her 
family cherishes the quilts, afghans, cross stitch, decoupage and other 
hand-made treasures she created. She was equally skilled in the kitchen,
 and her grandchildren still crave her Shipwreck Casserole, her 
incredible cinnamon rolls, her delicious fresh corn dishes and special 
home-made ice cream. Music and laughter filled the rooms and coming to 
Grandma’s house was always a high adventure and yearned-for opportunity.
 Iris had a passion for genealogy long before the Internet made it a 
popular and effortless undertaking. Her quests for information took her 
to Salt Lake City, Dodge City and beyond. She wrote innumerable letters,
 searched archival sources and followed every possible lead to reap the 
limbs and leaves of her family tree and the rich stories of their 
ancestry, a precious heritage for her family.Very active in her community, Iris was a devout member of the 
Goodland United Methodist Church, the church Women’s Circle, EHU and 
DAR, serving in official roles in each organization for many years. She 
looked forward to the monthly Class and Cousin coffees, visiting with 
friends and extended family.In addition to her beloved husband Vernon, Iris was preceded in death
 by her parents, her brothers Lowell, Dale, and Warren Harding, and her 
cherished eldest child Rebecca Jane Irvin Smith. She is survived by her 
adoring children Patricia Irvin O’Brien (Terry) of Basehor, KS, Douglas 
Irvin (Jeanne) of Goodland, KS, and Michael Irvin (Robin) of Mesa, AZ, 
and her son-in-law Michael Smith (Elizabeth) of Tallahassee, FL. She is 
also survived by 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She leaves

Iris E. Irvin

Kris Shane Fox, age 54, of Ellis, Kansas, passed away February 2, 2020 in Ellis. He was born February 23, 1965 in Hays, Kansas to David Fox and Sheri (Feldkamp). He graduated from Ellis High School and had a master’s in psychology from Fort Hays University.

Kris was an avid fisherman. He had a soft spot in his heart for animals. He enjoyed spending time with friends, and he loved to debate differences of opinions with anyone up to the challenge!

Kris was preceded in death by his Mother, Sheri (Feldkamp) Wiesner and his Grandparents Elvon and Ruby Feldkamp and Howard and Donna Fox.

He is survived by his Father David and Wife Alice Fox of Salina, Step Father Greg Wiesner of Ellis, 3 sisters Karla and Husband Martin Weimer, Karen Knoll both of Ellis, Erica and Husband Jason Schulz of Kansas City MO,&nbsp;3 Brothers, Kevin and Wife Connie Fox of Ellis, Ryan and wife Johana Wiesner of Benbrook, Texas and David and Wife Jennifer Fox of Wichita. 16 Nieces and Nephews, 4 Great Nieces and Nephews, His fishing buddy and cousin Walker Voss along with numerous other cousins and Friends.

A celebration of Kris's life will be held Saturday February 8th at 11:00 at Keithley Funeral Chapel 400 E 17th in Ellis with the family receiving friends at 10:30 AM

Florence Kuhn was born October 22, 1921, in Hays, Kansas to Peter and Catherine (Unrein) Pfeifer.&nbsp; She passed away February 2, 2020, in her home at the age of 98 surrounded by her three children and her son-in-law.&nbsp; She was a Housewife, Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Great Great Grandmother and Homemaker.&nbsp;

As a young girl, she attended school and graduated from Hays High School in Hays.

On July 19, 1945, Florence was united in marriage to Elmer Kuhn, Victoria Kansas.&nbsp; He passed away October 10, 2003.

Florence loved doing volunteer work for the church and Hays Medical Center.&nbsp; She enjoyed making many quilts and afghans for her children, grandchildren and other family members.&nbsp; She was a member of the St. Joseph’s Church, Altar Society/Christian Mother’s and Hays Medical Center volunteers.

Survivors include daughter, Bonnie Kuhn, Victoria, Ks; daughter Cathy (Wayne) Schwartz, Griffin Ga; son Ken Kuhn, Hays; sister Venita (John) Collier, Lakeland Co; Grandchildren; Tammy Leighton, Norman Ok; Tonya (Craig) Moddelmog, Fort Collins, Co; Tim (Courtney) Leighton, Charlotte, Nc; Lisa Denney, Manhattan, Ks; Shelby (Brent) Koerner, Woodstock Ga; Greg (Christy) Schwartz, Hays, Ks; twelve great grand-children and two&nbsp;great great grand-children.

Preceding her in death was her husband, Elmer; Parents: Peter and Catherine (Unrein) Pfeifer; a grandson Kevin Leighton; four sisters, Agnes Kreutzer, Regina Arnhold, Martina Kreutzer, Alfreda Schmeidler, three brothers, Wilfred (Jim) Pfeifer, Peter V. Pfeifer, RJ (Bob) Pfeifer, and son-in-law James S. Fulton, Sr.

The lives of family and friends may be uncertain without Florence and her passing leaves a void in our hearts, but our lives are the richer for her memory.

The family suggests memorials to Hospice of the University of Kansas Medical Center.

Services will be Saturday, February 8th at 10 AM at St. Joseph’s Church in Hays, with burial at St. Joseph’s Cemetery.&nbsp; Viewing will be Friday February 7th from 5 pm-8 pm at Brock’s Keithley Funeral Home with a parish vigil and rosary at 7 PM.

Daryl L. Bahm, 74, of Lincoln, passed away February 
1, 2020, surrounded by family. 

Born November 14, 1945, in Dighton, KS to
 Reuben and Alvena (Fech) Bahm. He grew up on a farm near Alamota, KS 
and continued working harvest until his parents retired. He was a member
 of Westminster Presbyterian Church, where he served as an usher and 
deacon for many years. Daryl greatly enjoyed being a member of the 
Nebraska Corvette Association. He enjoyed “tinkering” in his 
garage/working on cars while chatting with neighborhood friends and 
building/construction. Daryl enjoyed spending time with family and 
friends; especially attending his grandchildren’s events.

Daryl graduated from Dighton High School and Fort Hays State 
University. He served with the Army Reserves moving to Denver,
 CO where he met his wife Genie Morehouse; they married November 4, 
1972, then moved to Lincoln in 1974, where he worked for years in sales 
and construction.

Family members include his wife Genie, of Lincoln; daughter and 
son-in-law Susanne (Lance) Rinne; grandchildren Alexa, Jackson and Megan
 Rinne, all of Lincoln; brother Ronald (Anne) Bahm of Albuquerque, NM; 
brother in law Todd Williams of Towanda, KS; sisters-in-law Marjorie 
Groszkruger of Lincoln and Sally Morehouse of San Antonio, TX; numerous 
nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Preceded in death by parents and 
sister Janeen Williams.
