Effie Ione Sutton

Effie Ione Sutton, age 92, passed away on March 23, 2020 at the Cedar Village Care Center in Ness City, Kansas. She was born on June 18, 1927 in Horton, Kansas the daughter of Charles and Melinda (Davis) Parkerson.

She was a graduate of Ottawa University, Ottawa, Kansas, a teacher, a member of the First Baptist Church, Ness City and a member of the Jonathan Gilbert Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She enjoyed playing bridge and attending the Golden Years Leisure Center. She married John Eugene Sutton on June 8, 1949, in Topeka, Kansas. John preceded her in death on July 5, 1994.

Survivors include two daughters, Melba Sutton of Topeka, Kansas, Melinda Walker and her husband, Bob; two sons, Warren Sutton and his wife, Pam, Clyde Sutton and his wife, Terry; one bother, Keith Parkerson and his wife, Jo, all of Ness City; one sister, Maxine Bronson of Littleton, Colorado; eight grandchildren; 20 Great-Grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandson. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, John; two brothers, Charles and Harvey Parkerson and four sisters, Lois Reid, Arlone Husted, and Flora Parkerson and one great granddaughter, Adalyn Hann.

Funeral service and burial will be on Thursday, March 26, 2020, 10:00 a.m. at the Ness City Cemetery, Ness City, Kansas. Friends may call at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Ness City on Wednesday, March 25, 2020 from Noon until 8:00 p.m.. The family will be present at 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m..

Memorial contributions may be given to the First Baptist Church or the Ness City Public Library.
