Leinad Lorraine David, 90, died November 27, 2020, in Hill City, Kansas.
 She was born September 30, 1930, at the family farm to Landon Roosevelt
 and Jessie Mae (Haney) Hardman. Leinad grew up on the farm with her two
 siblings: Dwayne and Sharon. Her school days began at the North Star 
School in northwest Graham County. 

After graduating from Hill City High 
School, Leinad continued her education at Fort Hays College, earning a 
degree in Elementary Education. She taught in several rural schools, 
including South Star and Goshen. In later years, Leinad worked as a 
substitute teacher for the Lenora School District.
 On March 28, 1950, she and Eugene David were united in marriage 
in Hays, Kansas. Both being from farming families, the young couple 
began their married life establishing and working as their ancestors had
 done. To their union were born three children: Ronnie, Doug and Jeanie.
 Never one to sit still for very long, Leinad was an avid 
gardener, growing more vegetables than the family could eat, so 
neighbors could find Leinad canning in her kitchen on many long summer 
afternoons. Her green thumb expanded to yard landscaping especially when
 Gene and Leinad built a new country home. Her passion for growing 
plants always centered round her love of roses.
 Leinad and her neighbors became involved in EHU (Extension 
Homemakers Unit), meeting monthly for a lesson and lots of visiting, 
always at the South Star Schoolhouse. She was also a member of the North
 Star Community Club. As a 4-H Leader for many years she was very active
 at the County Fair, helping members in the food and nutrition 
categories or wherever else she was needed. During Jeanie’s college 
sports years, Leinad followed the teams faithfully and sponsored many 
out of town team bus trips from Colby. Leinad continued following the 
sports competitions of all three of her grandchildren, hardly ever 
missing a game.
 Leinad and Gene took many trips through the years with their 
favorite travelling buddies, Calvin and Iva Beckman, and an Alaskan 
cruise with grandchildren, Jordan and Kayla.
 Preceding her in death were her parents; sister Sharon Lovelady and brother Dwayne Hardman.
 Leaving to mourn her passing are her children: Ron David of 
Palmer, Alaska; Doug, wife Stephanie of Lenora; and Jeanie Bell of Hill 
City; grandchildren: India David of Palmer, Alaska, Jordan Bell of 
Seward, Nebraska, Kayla Waggoner and husband Tyler of Quinter, and Chase
 Bell of Hill City; step-grandson Cody Roberts, wife Claire of Hill 
City; step-grandchildren: Molly, Harper and Kaci Roberts; numerous 
nieces and nephews and many friends.
 A burial service was held Friday, December 4, 2020, at South 
Star Cemetery, Rural Penokee. Memorials to the Methodist Church may be 
sent to the David Family in care of Stinemetz Funeral Home, 522 N. 
Pomeroy Ave., Hill City, Kansas.

Delores Victorine Herskowitz, age 82, of WaKeeney, passed away Thursday, December 17, 2020, at Trego County Lemke Memorial Hospital, WaKeeney.&nbsp; She was born August 5, 1938, in Graham County, Kansas, to Michael and Isabelle V. (Scheck) Stefan.

She graduated from Trego Community High School with the class of 1956.&nbsp; Delores spent most of her working life as a cook.&nbsp; She loved family camping trips and spending time reading a good book.&nbsp; Delores cherished time spent with family, especially her grandkids.&nbsp; She was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church and the VFW Auxiliary.&nbsp; She will be dearly missed by many.

Those left to mourn her passing include two sons, Joe (Ronda) and Mark (Tami), all of WaKeeney; grandchildren, Candi (Doug) Herskowitz of WaKeeney, Joseph (Jen) Herskowitz of Hoxie, Ashley (Dion) Neuburger of Hays, Marsha (Brian) Avery of Hays, Stephanie (Davvid) Stanley of Hays, Cassandra (Andy) Pucket of Minneola, Kansas, and Dustin Stefan of Albuquerque, New Mexico; twenty-six great-grandchildren; and three brothers, Delbert, Darrell, and Duane; and three sisters, Dorothy, Delinda, and Donna.&nbsp; She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Donald; sisters, Darlene, Diana, Dorene.

A graveside service will take place at 2:00 p.m., Monday, December 21, 2020, at Christ the King Catholic Cemetery, WaKeeney.

Delores Herskowitz

Paul Vernon Smith, age 81, passed away peacefully at his home 
12-16-2020.&nbsp; He was born July 26, 1939 to Preston Odell Smith and Edna 
Mae Smith in Commerce, TX.&nbsp; The family returned to Conroe, TX until he 
was in the second grade.&nbsp; Here, a baby sister Mary Evelyn arrived in 
1945.&nbsp; From second grade to fifth grade he went to school back in 
Commerce.&nbsp; 

In 1950, Paul, his mother, known as Shine, and his sister 
moved to Oakley, KS.&nbsp; They joined his uncle, Dr. Jack Oney, who was in 
medical practice with Dr. James Marchbanks.&nbsp; Paul graduated from Oakley 
High School in 1957.&nbsp; He attended The University of Kansas and enrolled 
in the pre-pharmacy program.&nbsp; After the fall semester of 1958 he 
returned to Oakley and began working at Kenny’s Drug Store.&nbsp; 

Here he met
 an Army recruiter and chose to join the Army versus being drafted.&nbsp; He 
took his military oath in March of 1959.&nbsp; He served as an Army Medic in 
the Korean Demilitarized Zone with the 15th Administration company of the 1st
 Cavalry Division.&nbsp; While stationed at Ft. Riley, KS he was reacquainted
 with Marjorie Stoecker, who was a student at The University of Kansas 
State.&nbsp; He was honorably discharged in March of 1962 and moved to 
Houston, TX to be with his mother and sister.&nbsp; 

He and Marjorie continued
 their romance and they were married on 8-24-1963 in Mound City, KS.&nbsp; 
They lived in Houston where Paul continued his education at The 
University of Houston.&nbsp; He graduated with a bachelor of science in 
pharmacy in 1969.&nbsp; On an icy February day in 1970, Paul, Marge, Paula 
and Brad moved to Oakley where Paul went to work at Kenny’s Drug Store 
following the death of Kenny Kost.&nbsp; During the 70’s, three more children
 blessed the family, Pamela, Brian and Jeffrey.&nbsp; 

It was also during this
 time Paul and Marge bought the pharmacy and Paul’s Pharmacy opened on 
Center Street and remained there until he closed the pharmacy in 2003.&nbsp; 
Marge passed away in March of 2000.&nbsp; On 8-18-2001 Paul married Dee Ann 
Ratliff and they started their new journey together.&nbsp; Paul and Dee Ann 
were able to enjoy time traveling.&nbsp; They went on an Alaskan cruise and 
were able to see the lovely beaches of Maui and Oahu.&nbsp; One of their 
highlights was a Shrine cruise down the Rhine River and a stop over in 
Amsterdam.&nbsp; 

Paul was active in the Oakley community and his children’s 
lives.&nbsp; He was a Cub Scout pack leader, 4-H Project Leader, T-ball coach
 and active in the Logan County Shrine Club and Masonic Lodge.&nbsp; Paul was
 a Scottish Rite member and a 32nd degree Mason.&nbsp; Due to his 
military service he was inducted into the Shrine Legion of Honor.&nbsp; Paul 
was very proud of his military service and it carried over to his love 
of military history.&nbsp; In 2020 Paul was selected to take an Honor Flight 
to Washington, D.C. to tour the war memorials.&nbsp; In later years Paul’s 
favorite time was spent with his children and watching his 
grand-children play together.&nbsp; He was a strong man and survived 2 major 
cancers.&nbsp; Over time his health was slowly fading, but he was always 
positive. He is survived by his wife, Dee Ann; children, Paula 
and Brad Clement of Greeley, CO, Brad and Becky Smith of Olathe, KS, Pam
 and Mike White of Prairie Village, KS, Brian and Kelley Smith of 
Wichita, KS, Jeff and Stacie Smith of Wichita, KS; Step-son, Darren and 
Clarissa Eichenauer of Salina, KS; grandchildren, Madeline, Brady, 
Hudson, Chloe, Mason, Gibson, Jorie, Ashley and Jessica; 
great-grandchild, Falynn; sister, Mary Godfrey of Katie, TX and many

21, 2020 at the Oakley Christian Church, with Masonic Rites and Military

Wyatt Dustin Windholz of Hays, Kansas, beloved infant son, of Jennifer (Purvis) Taylor and Garett Windholz, was born December 14, 2020, at Hays Medical Center, Hays, Kansas. He passed peacefully in the arms of his parents after 31 beautiful and unforgettable minutes.

Wyatt is survived and very loved by his parents; his big sister, Jessa; his grandparents, Karen (Purvis) &amp; Rusty Blehm; Leland and Mary Ann Windholz; great grandparents, Shirley (Purvis) and Keith Bracelin; uncle, Michael Purvis; aunt, Amorette Windholz, and numerous extended family members.&nbsp;

He was preceded in death by his grandpa, Mark Purvis.

Private family graveside services will be held at a later date.&nbsp; Inurnment will be at Mount Allen Cemetery, in Hays, Kansas.

Wyatt Dustin Windholz

Kent Douglas Beisner, 70, passed away on Saturday, November 28, 2020, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital in Lawrence, Kansas.

Kent was born on October 22, 1950, in Oakley, Kansas, the son of Harold O. and Betty (Gatlin) Beisner. Kent studied pharmacy at the University of Arizona and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Business from Baker University. He played golf and basketball in college. He was united in marriage to Diana (Olberding) Beisner on April 30, 1976, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Colby, Kansas, and had a beautiful marriage for 44 years. Together they have three children, Kyle, Keith, and Elizabeth.

He lived a full and vibrant life. He was truly a friend to everyone he met and a mentor to many people in all aspects of his life and professional career. His smile and humor were infectious (dad jokes included). Spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren brought him so much joy.

Kent had a wonderful career and was a beloved leader. He was in the beer and beverage distribution business for over 33 years. He was Vice-President and General Manager of V &amp; M Distributing, Inc., a family-owned Coors &amp; Miller Distributor in Colby, Kansas from 1976 to 1989. Kent was Vice-President and General Manager for Jayhawk Beverage, Inc. &amp; DeBauge Brothers, Inc. Coors, Boulevard and Miller Distributors, from 1989 to 2008. Kent joined the Kansas Chamber in 2008 and served in several positions including President &amp; CEO and Chief Operating Officer. He was also on the Leadership Kansas advisory board. In addition, he served on multiple boards and was a member of, or affiliated with, many organizations during his career.

After retiring in March 2018, he served as a managing partner for Professional Pile Solutions, LLC, a small business with his son, Keith, as well as an insurance agent. He continued to be involved with the Chamber, the Chamber PAC, Leadership Kansas and Rotary. Much of his time was also spent on the golf course – his passion and hobby that he was truly exceptional at.

Kent was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Lisa Beisner and Kelly Beisner. Survivors include his wife, Diana of the home; children, Kyle (Jodie) of Beloit, Keith (Kim) of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Elizabeth (Nick) Jerkovich of Leawood; sister, Linda West (Paul) of Norfolk, Virginia; grandchildren, Bryce, Allison, and Ethan; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

Services were earlier this month in Lawrence.

Private family inurnment was at Pioneer Cemetery in Lawrence.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Jayhawk Breakfast Rotary Club or St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church.

Kent studied pharmacy at the University of Arizona and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Business from Baker University. He played golf and basketball in college. He was united in marriage to Diana (Olberding) Beisner on April 30, 1976, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Colby, Kansas, and had a beautiful marriage for 44 years. Together they have three children, Kyle, Keith, and Elizabeth.He lived a full and vibrant life. He was truly a friend to everyone he met and a mentor to many people in all aspects of his life and professional career. His smile and humor were infectious (dad jokes included). Spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren brought him so much joy.Kent had a wonderful career and was a beloved leader. He was in the beer and beverage distribution business for over 33 years. He was Vice-President and General Manager of V &amp; M Distributing, Inc., a family-owned Coors &amp; Miller Distributor in Colby, Kansas from 1976 to 1989. Kent was Vice-President and General Manager for Jayhawk Beverage, Inc. &amp; DeBauge Brothers, Inc. Coors, Boulevard and Miller Distributors, from 1989 to 2008. Kent joined the Kansas Chamber in 2008 and served in several positions including President &amp; CEO and Chief Operating Officer. He was also on the Leadership Kansas advisory board. In addition, he served on multiple boards and was a member of, or affiliated with, many organizations during his career.After retiring in March 2018, he served as a managing partner for Professional Pile Solutions, LLC, a small business with his son, Keith, as well as an insurance agent. He continued to be involved with the Chamber, the Chamber PAC, Leadership Kansas and Rotary. Much of his time was also spent on the golf course – his passion and hobby that he was truly exceptional at.Kent was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Lisa Beisner and Kelly Beisner. Survivors include his wife, Diana of the home; children, Kyle (Jodie) of Beloit, Keith (Kim) of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Elizabeth (Nick) Jerkovich of Leawood; sister, Linda West (Paul) of Norfolk, Virginia; grandchildren, Bryce, Allison, and Ethan; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.Services were earlier this month in Lawrence.Private family inurnment was at Pioneer Cemetery in Lawrence.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Jayhawk Breakfast Rotary Club or St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church.

Lutie Ann Riedel, age 90, went to be with her Savior on December 16, 2020, in Marietta, Georgia.&nbsp;

Raised in Gove, Lutie married Lewis G. 
Riedel in 1951, lived in Hays, and had four children: Barbara Jean 
(stillborn), Betty Ruth (Ruth, deceased), Charles, and Janet (Jan).&nbsp; 
Lutie attended Fort Hays and earned degrees in Art, English Literature, 
and Nursing. She was well-known for her skill and generosity of tatting,
 crocheting, baking and fudge deliveries, especially at Christmas time.&nbsp;
 She was a member of First United Methodist in Hays, and later, Johnson 
Ferry Baptist in Marietta, Georgia.&nbsp; 

She is also survived by nieces and 
nephews, grand and great-grandchildren that called her GG and will miss 
her bright spirit and talkative nature. She is now probably doing her 
own version of “Dancing With the Stars."&nbsp; To know her was to love her, 
and to be loved by her.

Paul Allen Wasinger, 94, of Ness City, KS passed away on Tuesday, December 
15, 2020. He was born the son of John and Anna Mary (Haas) Wasinger on 
April 2, 1926.

Paul was married to Inez (Vogel) Wasinger for 70 years before she 
passed away January 2019. Paul owned and operated the Phillips 66 
station for 45 years. He was a school bus driver for the United School 
District #303 for 51 years. He refereed high school football and 
basketball for many years with his brothers Nick and Wilbur. Paul served
 in the U.S. Navy during WWII for two years. Paul loved to spend time 
with his family, travel and work in his yard. He was a member of Sacred 
Heart Catholic Church and American Legion of Ness City.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Inez; his son, 
Dale; brothers: Nick and Wilbur Wasinger; sisters: Dorinda Gaschler, 
Rosalinda Gaschler and Vera Pfannenstiel.

He is survived by his children: Paula Wasinger, Karen (Rick) Weir, 
Rod (Tena) Wasinger, daughter-in-law, Jeanna Wasinger; sisters: Pauline 
Witthuhn and Joan VanDegrift; sisters-in-law: Kay Wasinger and Wilma 
Drake; 6 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

Due to health concerns regarding COVID-19, the family will have a 
private graveside service at Sacred Heart Cemetery on Saturday, December
 19, 2020 at 1pm. The viewing will be Friday, December 18, 2020, from 
5-9pm. A Celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Ramona Eileen Birdsong was born September 9, 1935, the fourth child of Clifford and Lottie (Allen) Bisbee at their home in Bucklin, Kansas. She passed away December 15, 2020, at Trego County-Lemke Memorial Hospital Long Term Care in Wakeeney, Kansas.

Ramona was raised in Bucklin, where her father taught in local schools and her parents later owned a variety store. She grew up attending the Methodist Church and enjoying small town life. After one year of college at Fort Hays College, she married Dwight (Red) Birdsong in her parents’ living room. This was the beginning of many adventures. They soon added a daughter to their family and nearly 3 years later, a son. For 31 years of Ramona’s life, she followed her husband across the west, living in one oil boom town after another.&nbsp; Along the way, she discovered she was a good secretary and that she liked Oklahoma City. She remained in Oklahoma City following her divorce in 1986 until 2009 when she moved to Wakeeney. Everywhere she lived, Ramona found what was best in that community, grew beautiful flowers, and made lifelong friends.&nbsp;

Survivors include her daughter Karen Madorin (Mel) of Dubois, WY and WaKeeney, KS; son Ronald Kent Birdsong (Tammy) of Vega, Texas; two granddaughters, Anne Coon and Kelli Sprague (Cord); two step-grandchildren Tiffany Powers (Matt) and Matt Horton (Vayle); four great grand-children; six step great-grandchildren; sister Iris Cook in Bucklin, KS; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother Bud; and sister Wanda.

Ramona bloomed where she was planted. No matter where she was, she made life better for others around her.&nbsp;

Inurnment will take place in Ford, KS, attended by her immediate family.

Ramona Birdsong

Darrell Dean Tanner, 86, passed away December 16, 2020, at Hays Medical Center, Hays, Kansas.

He was born January 17, 1934, in Wamego, the son of Clarence A. and 
Clara McKowen Tanner.&nbsp; A longtime area resident.&nbsp; He worked for Cooper 
feed, Ark Valley Implement, Pawnee Beef Builders, Delaney Implement and 
retired from USD#495 School District.

He was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Knights 
of Columbus, both of Larned.&nbsp; In his early years he enjoyed rodeo and 
training horses.&nbsp; He was very proud of his children and grandchildren.&nbsp; 
His passion was outdoor gardening and meticulously maintaining his yard 
and lawn.&nbsp; He was also an avid sports fan.

On August 10, 1957, he married Jean Berroth in Paxico.&nbsp; She survives.

Other survivors include; four sons, Mike, Larned, Rick (Kathy) 
Topeka, Rob (Donna), Garden City, Brent (Denise), Manhattan and; a 
sister, Betty Volz, Dodge City and nine grandchildren, Emily (Connor), 
Katie, Whitney, Kara, Cooper, Parker (Tianna), Weston, Carson and Kaycee
 and two great grandchildren, Charlie and Kaiden.

He was preceded in death by; seven brothers, Wilbur, John, Harold, 
Ronald, Dale, Charles and Argel, four sisters, Mary Turner, Alice Brost,
 Lucille Frazier and Dorothy Judy, a grandson, David Tanner and a 
daughter-in-law, Kathy Tanner.

Private Memorial Mass will be 10:00 a.m. Monday December 21, 2020 at

Luis Osvaldo Marquez Cazares, age 77, died at St. Francis Hospital in
 Topeka, Kansas on Wednesday, December 16, 2020.&nbsp; He was born on 
September 24, 1943, at Temosachic, Chihuahua, Mexico, the son of Pedro 
Marquez Bencomo and Celsa Cazares Ramos.

He was a member of the Wichita County, Kansas, community since the 
early '70s and worked for Whitham Farms until his retirement.&nbsp; Luis was a
 member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church.

On July 22, 1966 he married Dolores Trevizo Caraveo.&nbsp; She survives.

Other survivors include:&nbsp;Six Children - Alma Rosa Marquez of Dodge 
City, Kansas,&nbsp;Rosa Maria Marquez-Krenzel of Leoti, Kansas,&nbsp;Maria Del

Luis Osvaldo Marquez Cazares

LaVera Martha King, age 88, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, 
December 16, 2020, at the Scott County Hospital in Scott City, Kansas. 
She was born on August 17, 1932, in Scott City, Kansas, the daughter of 
John and Hilda Koch Wiechman. She was a homemaker most of her life and 
was loved to the moon and back by her children, grandchildren, family, 
and friends.

She was a member of the Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Ladies VFW 
Auxiliary, a member of the VIP Senior Center, and a Pink Lady for the 
Scott County Hospital. She enjoyed many years of bowling which included 
several state and National trips with family and friends and “dancing 
the night” away at the VIP Senior Center.

On October 8, 1951, she married Harry V. King in Scott City, Kansas. He passed away on September 1, 1981, in Scott City, Kansas.

Survivors include her Two Daughters - Gloria &amp; Forrest Gough of 
Scott City, Kansas, Carol &amp; Bruce Latham of Scott City, Kansas, Two 
Sons - Randy &amp; Kay King of Scott City, Kansas and David &amp; Susan

 2020, at the Scott County Cemetery in Scott City, Kansas with Pastor

December 16, 2020, at the Scott County Hospital in Scott City, Kansas. 
She was born on August 17, 1932, in Scott City, Kansas, the daughter of 
John and Hilda Koch Wiechman. She was a homemaker most of her life and 
was loved to the moon and back by her children, grandchildren, family, 
and friends.She was a member of the Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Ladies VFW 
Auxiliary, a member of the VIP Senior Center, and a Pink Lady for the 
Scott County Hospital. She enjoyed many years of bowling which included 
several state and National trips with family and friends and “dancing 
the night” away at the VIP Senior Center.On October 8, 1951, she married Harry V. King in Scott City, Kansas. He passed away on September 1, 1981, in Scott City, Kansas.Survivors include her Two Daughters - Gloria &amp; Forrest Gough of 
Scott City, Kansas, Carol &amp; Bruce Latham of Scott City, Kansas, Two

Dana Lee Huthansel, age 41, passed Wednesday, December 16, 2020 at 
the Goodland Regional Medical Center.&nbsp; Dana was born September 18, 1979 
to Collin and Audrey (Elfman) Huthansel in Goodland.&nbsp; She grew up in 
Goodland and attended Goodland High School.&nbsp;

Dana attended the Oxford House in Hays where she met many new 
friends.&nbsp; She enjoyed drawing, listening to music, cooking, spending 
time with her family and friends, and her dog Maxwell.&nbsp;

She was preceded in death by her grandparents; uncles, Ralph Elfman, 
Eugene Blake and Joe Daniels; cousins, David Elfman and Stephanie 
Darby.&nbsp;

Dana is survived by her father, Collin Huthansel of Goodland; mother,

Nursing Home in Scott City. She was born on January 4, 1927, at Colby 
the daughter of Henry &amp; Neva (Nixon) Trybom. She married Vivian 
Wesley Cornelius on December 25, 1947, at Colby. 
Ellen graduated from Colby High School in 1944. She moved to Scott City
 in 1963 and cleaned houses for many years. She was a member of First 
Baptist Church of Scott City, VFW Auxiliary, VIP Seniors, Daughters of 
American Revolution and Thomas County Historical Society. Ellen enjoyed
 doing needlepoint and taking her projects to the county fair and her 
gardening. She had a large doll collection and was known locally as the
 “Doll Lady”. 
She is survived by her 2 Daughters- Greta (Richard) Guenthner of Wichita
 and Judith (L.D.) Crawford of Topeka, Son- Wes (Maggie) Cornelius of 
Valdosta, Georgia, Brother- Ronnie Trybom of San Antonio, Texas, Sister-

Melvin R. Fabrizius

Brenda Moote (McLaughlin) was born on September 11th, 1963, in 
Plainville, Kansas, to Gerald and Gean McLaughlin. She passed away 
peacefully on December 12th, 2020, comfortably in her own home with her 
family surrounding her.
 Brenda lived a simple yet enjoyable life. She was born in 
Plainville, Kansas, and lived in Kansas for the first part of her life, 
enjoying time with friends, family, school, and work. She grew up in 
Stockton, Kansas, and graduated from Stockton High School in 1981. She 
loved playing pool and quarters with her friends and family in her free 
time. On October 17th, 1987, she married Kevin Moote at the United 
Methodist Church in Stockton, Kansas.
 Brenda and Kevin moved to Fort Collins, Colorado, in the early ’90s 
to start their family. Brenda started working at Mac’s Frame Shop as a 
picture framer around 1992. She continued the business by becoming the 
owner of Mac’s Frame Shop in 2000. She was always hard-working, put her 
customers first, and went above and beyond to meet her customers' goals.
 She could tell you what every moulding, frame, or glass type was just 
by looking at the front of it. Her customers would ask for her 
specifically because her skills and taste of designs were extravagant.
 In 1992 she had her son, Quentin Moote, then in 1996, she had her 
daughter, Chelsea Bush (Moote). Soon after her daughter was born, 
Brenda, Kevin, Quentin, and Chelsea moved permanently to Windsor, 
Colorado. Brenda helped with Girl Scouts and was always the favorite 
leader. She also enjoyed reading books and going to book clubs now and 
then. Brenda loved going camping when the time was allowed, along with 
day car ride trips to Estes or anywhere in the Mountains. She also used 
to take frequent trips to Stockton, Kansas, to see her family or visit 
them when they passed. When Brenda’s children grew up, she would love to
 spend quality time with them and her family in general. In 2019, Brenda
 became a grandmother to Adelynn Bush, which she loved dearly.
 Brenda was preceded in death by her parents, Gerald and Gean McLaughlin, and her sister, Linda Smith.
 She is survived by her husband, Kevin; son Quentin; daughter 
Chelsea; granddaughter Adelynn; and nephews Michael and Brian Smith.
 Brenda was an exceedingly kind, loving, and forgiving woman who 
would do anything for her family and friends. Her primary goal in life 
was to make everyone happy and laugh. She would always forgive someone 
fast because she said, “Life is too short.” She nevertheless left a 
great impression on everyone she met with her easy, funny, and friendly 
personality. Even when she was diagnosed with Pancreatic cancer in early
 2020, she never let fears get to her. She continued to have a positive 
outlook on life through chemo, surgery, and after surgery when 
complications happened. Brenda continued to pray every day and always 
looked at what she has done instead of what she cannot anymore.
 Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, December 19, 2020, at 11 AM
 at Plumer-Overlease Funeral Home in Stockton. Online condolences can be

Brenda Moote

Fred A. Johnson, age 95, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Wednesday, December 9, 2020.

Fred was born on April 15, 1925, at Grainfield, KS to Fred A. Johnson
 and Veronica Johnson (Vedder). His father died when Fred was age 8 
during the Great Depression. He completed the 4th and 5th grades in one 
year and studied one year in a pre-seminary program in Conception, MO 
before moving to Hays, KS with his family. Upon graduating from Hays 
High School in 1942, at the age of 17. He eventually enlisted in the 
Army as a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Division, 517th Parachute 
Combat Team serving in France. After returning home from the war, he met
 and married Marilyn T. Adler. They were married for over 73 years, and 
raised two sons on the family farm north of Grainfield, KS. Playing 
cards was a regular occurrence. Fred was a life long farmer, and like 
most hard working farmers, he was a “jack of all trades”.

He and Marilyn traveled to numerous foreign countries and took many 
cruises, some with their children and grandchildren. He piloted his own 
twin engine Piper airplane for years and was an accomplished skier on 
the Colorado slopes.

He is survived by his wife, Marilyn; children, Fred A. Johnson, Jr. 
(Mary) of Wichita, KS, and Dr. Casey T. Johnson (Patty) of Shawnee, KS. 
He leaves grandchildren, Nicole M. Johnson (Zachary Arnold) of Kansas 
City, MO, Bridget T. Falk (Ben) of Denver, CO, Laurie Ray of 
Lawrence, KS, and Austin C. Johnson, of Eugene, OR; and 
great-grandchildren, Max Ray, Bryce Arnold, Dominic Arnold, and Sloane 
Arnold. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, John 
Johnson; sisters, Agnes Johnson, Emma Boyd, Thelma Zerr, and Bessie 
Goodgion.

Clive J. “C.J.” Sharpe, age 89, passed away on Tuesday, December 15, 
2020, at the Park Lane Nursing Home in Scott City, Kansas.&nbsp; He was born 
on September 5, 1931, in Garden City, Kansas, the son of Clive Gay and 
Nellie Marguerite Scott Sharpe.&nbsp; A lifetime resident of Scott City, 
Kansas, he was a retired teacher and coach.

He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Scott City, Kansas, 
and was a US Army Veteran.&nbsp; Starting in 1959, CJ taught math in 
Coolidge, Kansas, Herndon, Kansas, and then retiring in 1990 from Scott 
City, Kansas.&nbsp; He was passionate about sports, both as an athlete and 
coach.&nbsp; CJ enjoyed gardening, reading, playing pitch and he especially 
loved his grandchildren and 19 nieces and nephews and playing with their
 32 kids as they grew up.

On August 18, 1964, he married Charlene M. Brown in Herndon, Kansas.&nbsp; She survives.

Survivors include his Wife - Charlene Sharpe of Scott City, Kansas, 
One Daughter - Christina M. Sharpe of Fishers, Indiana, One Son - C. 
Justin &amp; Heather Sharpe of Gilbert, Arizona, Four Brothers - Harley

DeLores C. Brooks, age 98, passed away on Wednesday, December 16, 
2020, at the Park Lane Nursing Home in Scott City, Kansas.&nbsp; She was born
 on July 30, 1922, in Bowdon, North Dakota, the daughter of Robert and 
Clara Snobrick Koeller.

DeLores was the youngest girl in the family and was loved by many 
nieces and nephews.&nbsp; She was a homemaker until 1967 when she was 
employed as a CNA &amp; later a Med-Aid at Park Lane Nursing Home in 
Scott City, Kansas, and retired after 33 years.&nbsp; She loved to garden and
 when in season always had a fresh flower bouquet on her table.&nbsp; DeLores
 was a very good baker and would make her children homemade cinnamon 
rolls &amp; cookies for after school snacks.

On April 6, 1948 she married Calvin Brooks of Norton, Kansas.&nbsp; They 
married at Sykeston, North Dakota at St. Elizabeth Church on a cold 
snowy day.&nbsp; They made their home on a farm south of Edmond, Kansas in 
Norton County, Kansas.&nbsp; In 1962 they moved to Scott City, Kansas.&nbsp; She 
was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Scott City.&nbsp; She was an 
active member of the Altar Society.

Survivors include her One Son - Charles Brooks of Scott City, Kansas,
 One Daughter - Cheryl &amp; David Perry of Goodland, Kansas, One 
Granddaughter - Tina &amp; Shandon Wolak of Goodland, Kansas, Two Great 
Granddaughters - Raegen Wolak of Goodland, Kansas, Sage Wolak of 
Goodland, Kansas.

She was preceded in death by her Parents, Husband - Calvin Brooks, 
One Son - Terry Lynn Brooks, Three Brothers, and Three Sisters.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 19, 
2020, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Scott City, Kansas with Fr.

Robert E. Gramzow, age 84, passed away on December 12, 2020 at the 
Morton County Nursing Home in Elkhart, Kansas.&nbsp; He was born at his 
parents home in rural Norton County northwest of Almena, Kansas on June 
22, 1936.&nbsp; He was the first child of Ernest F. and Louise (Holiday) 
Gramzow.&nbsp; He was known as Bobby the good big brother of his fraternal 
twin sisters who were born four years later.

He received his elementary education at a rural school located near 
his family’s farmstead.&nbsp; His Aunt Marie Van de Wege was one of his first
 teachers.&nbsp; He graduated from Almena High School in 1954.&nbsp; Bob earned a 
B.S degree in Ag Education at Kansas State College.&nbsp; He lettered in 
gymnastics and received the award for high point gymnast his senior 
year.&nbsp; Following graduation in 1958 he taught&nbsp;Vocational Ag at Beaver 
City, Nebraska High School.&nbsp; Having met his wife to be at an 
InterVarsity Christian Fellowship Picnic at K-State,&nbsp;Bob and Norma Duell
 of Ruleton, Kansas were married at the United Methodist Church in 
Goodland June 21, 1959.&nbsp; She was working as an Extension Agent in Leoti 
at the time so he joined her in Leoti to teach Vo Ag at Wichita County 
High School for three years.&nbsp; He had signed a contract to teach Vo Ag in
 Flagler, Colorado but a decision to drop the program led to the 
decision to take more classes to certify teaching at the elementary 
level.&nbsp; He enjoyed teaching the 5th&nbsp;grade&nbsp;for USD 352 in Goodland for 12
 years.&nbsp; Bob helped his father-in-law, Carl Duell, during the summers 
until his untimely death on January 1, 1975.&nbsp; He went into full time 
farming at the end of that school year.

The Gramzow’s were blessed with two daughters.&nbsp; Judy was born while 
they were in Leoti in December, 1960 and Jana was born in Goodland in 
November, 1963.&nbsp; The family was active in the First Baptist Church where
 Bob taught Sunday School, sang in the choir, served as deacon, and 
ushered.&nbsp; Bob was active in The Gideons International organization, 
helping with their jail ministry until his memory began to fail.

He retired from farming at the end of 2010.&nbsp; Unfortunately, his 
short-term memory problems increased and the failure to remember he was 
retired was his biggest problem.&nbsp; On&nbsp;Memorial Day, May 26, 2013, not 
finding his pickup keys, he took his van to check the irrigation.&nbsp; He 
hadn’t been feeling well so it was assumed he was coughing, sneezing or 
reaching for a Kleenex when the car left the road, hitting a concrete 
culvert.&nbsp; He suffered two broken vertebra, 4 broken ribs, a small brain 
bleed, other cuts and bruises.&nbsp; Remarkably, he was able to return home 
on October 3 after spending 2 months in Denver and 2 months in Good 
Samaritan Home in Goodland.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

His family is grateful for all his caregivers, friends, neighbors and
 family who lifted him in prayer in the prior event and since he had a 
stroke in September.&nbsp;

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, aunts, uncles, and two brothers-in-law, Jim Williams and Marvin Duell.&nbsp;&nbsp;

He is survived by his wife, Norma, of Goodland; his daughters Judy 
(Mark) Pitnick and step-son, Justin, of Lenexa KS and Jana (Rob) Lehman 
of Meridian, ID; his two grandchildren, Gage and Brooke Lehman of 
Meridian, ID.&nbsp; He is also survived by his sisters, Virjean Williams of 
Hermitage, TN and Virginia (Bernard) Kinnick of Greeley, CO; brothers 
and sisters-in-laws: Don (Eloise) Duell, Lone Tree. CO, Bonnie Duell of 
Goodland, Elaine (Emery) Pankratz of Hawthorne, CA, Dennis (Orpha)&nbsp;Duell
 of Wichita, KS, many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

One of his favorite Bible verses was Deuteronomy 31:8 NASB “The Lord 
is the one who goes ahead of you; He will be with you.&nbsp; He will not fail
 you or forsake you.&nbsp; Do not fear or be dismayed.”&nbsp; As one Christian 
author puts it for the Christian “Retirement is out of this world!”

Virginia Beamer, 82, of Oakley, died Monday, December 14, 2020, at Logan
 County Hospital. 

She was born November 24, 1938, in Monument KS, to 
Belle and Martin Selley. She graduated from Oakley High School in 1956.
 On October 14, 1956, she married Charles Beamer. Virginia was a member
 of the United Christian Church in Oakley. Virginia had served as Clerk
 of the District Court in Logan County, was the first female County 
Commissioner in Logan County, and was a Kansas State Representative. 
She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Martin Wells, Robert, and Lowell. 
She is survived by her husband, Charles, of Oakley; children, Alexis 
Basgall, of Herndon, KS, Gaylene Langley, of Evergreen, CO, and Charlyn 
Smith, of Colorado Springs, CO; 9 grandchildren and 5 great 
grandchildren. 
Visitation will be 6-7:00 p.m. Thursday, December 17th, 2020 at the 
United Christian Church, Oakley. Funeral Service is 10:30 a.m. Friday, 
December 18, 2020, also at the church with burial in the Oakley City

Naomi Kathryn Strecker, 88, of Russell, Kansas, died on Saturday, December 12, 2020, at the Russell Regional Hospital in Russell, Kansas. 
 
Naomi was born on February 12, 1932, on the family farm in rural Sylvan Grove, Kansas, the daughter of Harm and Laura (Hopfer) Gerdes.&nbsp; She grew up in Sylvan Grove and graduated from Sylvan Grove High School in the class of 1950. &nbsp;

After high school, she graduated with an associate’s degree in business from St. John’s College in Winfield, Kansas.&nbsp; She met, fell in love and was united in marriage to Marvin R. Strecker on October 18, 1953, in Sylvan Grove.&nbsp; From this union Naomi and Marvin were blessed with 3 children Laurel, James and Mary.&nbsp; They moved to Russell, Kansas, in 1967.&nbsp; She worked as a production clerk for several oil companies. Then she worked in a local accounting office. Until her retirement, she owned and operated Russell Office Supply.&nbsp; She was a former member of the Redeemer Lutheran Church in Russell and later in life enjoyed listening to church services on the computer and television.&nbsp; 

She enjoyed researching genealogy, working on the computer, reading and following politics.&nbsp; She loved camping and traveling with her husband Marvin. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family. 
 
Surviving family include her daughter Laurel Strecker of Russell, Kansas; son James Strecker (Juanita Piedimonte) of Harrisonville, Missouri and daughter Mary Strecker of Grandview, Missouri; granddaughter Valiha Strecker (Mark Dedovesh); great grandchildren Grayson and Everly Dedovesh. 
 
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Marvin on July 11, 2016, and brother Laurence Gerdes. 
 
Cremation has been selected by the family and there may be a celebration of life at a later date.&nbsp; Visitation will be on December 22, 2020, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the mortuary.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Russell Food Pantry or Russell Regional Hospital.&nbsp; Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary of Russell, Kansas is in charge of the arrangements.

Naomi Kathryn Strecker

Darryl William Dohm will be spending Christmas with Jesus in Heaven this
 year. He passed away Monday, December 14, 2020. He was born June 28, 
1945, to Walter and Beulah (Kelly) Dohm and was baptized at the Immanuel
 Lutheran Church in Oakley, September 23, 1945. He grew up farming and, 
except for a few years working for Olen Kannady &amp; Sons, he continued
 farming until he retired in 2013. Darryl married Marjorie “Marge” Van 
Eaton, on August 19, 1966, who loved being his wife and farming partner.
 They were blessed with 54 years together. 
Darryl really enjoyed fishing from an early age and joined the 
Bassmaster Fishing Club. He enjoyed playing cards in a card club with a 
group of friends. A hobby he started when he was young was working with 
leather. He really enjoyed making pliers holsters for nephews and belts 
for the nieces, besides making billfolds. If you came for a visit you 
were given a keyring. 
Darryl will be missed by his loving wife, Marge; sisters, Donna Harris, 
Delilah (Max) Beougher, Deanna (Marv) Schoenberger and Della (Kevin) 
Berger; brother Dennis (Jana) Dohm and many special nieces and nephews. 
There will be a private family graveside service on Friday, December 18,
 2020, at the Grinnell Township Cemetery.

 year. He passed away Monday, December 14, 2020. He was born June 28, 
1945, to Walter and Beulah (Kelly) Dohm and was baptized at the Immanuel
 Lutheran Church in Oakley, September 23, 1945. He grew up farming and, 
except for a few years working for Olen Kannady &amp; Sons, he continued
 farming until he retired in 2013. Darryl married Marjorie “Marge” Van 
Eaton, on August 19, 1966, who loved being his wife and farming partner.
 They were blessed with 54 years together. 
Darryl really enjoyed fishing from an early age and joined the 
Bassmaster Fishing Club. He enjoyed playing cards in a card club with a 
group of friends. A hobby he started when he was young was working with 
leather. He really enjoyed making pliers holsters for nephews and belts 
for the nieces, besides making billfolds. If you came for a visit you 
were given a keyring. 
Darryl will be missed by his loving wife, Marge; sisters, Donna Harris, 
Delilah (Max) Beougher, Deanna (Marv) Schoenberger and Della (Kevin) 
Berger; brother Dennis (Jana) Dohm and many special nieces and nephews. 
There will be a private family graveside service on Friday, December 18,
 2020, at the Grinnell Township Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the
 Immanuel Lutheran Church, Oakley, the Heritage Center in Grinnell, or

Sister Ann Walters, CSA, baptized Mary Loraine Walters, died peacefully 
on November 30, 2020, at St. Francis Home, Fond du Lac, Wisconsin.&nbsp; Mary
 Loraine was born in Catharine, Kansas, on December 4, 1928, to Anthony 
Walters and Lidwina Polifka Walters. She was the third oldest in her 
family of eleven, five girls and six boys. Living through the Kansas 
Dust Storms with her family taught Mary the importance of working 
together and gathering for prayer to sustain one other. She believed that these family experiences nurtured her vocation and prepared her for life in religious community.&nbsp; Feeling
 a deep sense of belonging to God from an early age, Sister Ann entered 
St. Agnes Convent in 1943 and made her first profession of vows in the 
Congregation of Sisters of St. Agnes on August 15, 1948.&nbsp; Throughout
 her life, Sister Ann loved teaching, learning, and offering one-on-one 
guidance and spiritual support to people of all ages.&nbsp; She received a BS
 in Education from Marian College, Fond du Lac, Wisconsin. She taught 
for 19 years in grade schools and high schools in Wisconsin, 
Kansas, Illinois and Indiana. In 1967, she earned her MALS in Library 
Science from Rosary College, River Forest, Illinois.&nbsp; Sister Ann then 
enjoyed serving as a librarian for nine years in grade schools in 
Illinois and Indiana and at Beloit Catholic High School, Beloit, 
Wisconsin. &nbsp; In 1967, desiring a more contemplative lifestyle, 
Sister Ann worked at the Renewal Center of the University of 
Steubenville, Steubenville, Ohio, serving as Director of Retreats and 
offering counseling part-time.&nbsp; This experience led her to pursue a 
Certificate of Theological Studies and Spirituality from the Jesuit 
School of Theology, Berkeley, California, and an MS in Pastoral 
Counseling from Loyola of Maryland, Baltimore, after which she did 
retreat ministry at Franciscan Spirituality Center, La Crosse, 
Wisconsin. Sister Ann then actively engaged in ministries of counseling,
 spiritual direction, and pastoral care in Wisconsin and Kansas for 39 
years.&nbsp; She served in Campus Ministry at Regis University in Denver, 
Colorado, and at the University of Wisconsin, Oshkosh. &nbsp; Her 
summer ministries included directing retreats in Wisconsin at the Jesuit
 Retreat House, Oshkosh, St. Anthony Retreat House, Marathon, and St. 
Joseph Retreat House, Baileys Harbor.&nbsp; &nbsp; In 2004, Sister Ann 
returned to Fond du Lac, living for a time at the CSA motherhouse, and 
with her sisters at Nazareth Court and Center and St. Francis Home. 
During this time, she volunteered in ministries of hospitality and 
wellness in the emergency room at St. Agnes Hospital, the Treffert 
Center, and St. Francis Home until frail health no longer allowed her to
 engage in these activities.&nbsp; Sister Ann was preceded in death by
 her parents Anthony and Lidwina Walters, her brothers Herbert, Delbert,
 Marvin, Daniel and Patrick and her sisters Dolores Giebler and Sister 
Rose Walters, CSA.&nbsp; She is survived by her brother Thomas and her
 sisters Catherine Perino and Nettie Kuhn-Verdi, her nieces and nephews,
 and the Sisters of St. Agnes, with whom she lived, prayed and 
ministered.&nbsp; Burial took place on December 2, 2020, at St. Joseph
 Springs Cemetery, Fond du Lac, Wisconsin. Due to COVID-19 restrictions,
 a Memorial Mass for Sister Ann will be celebrated on a future date at 
the Nazareth Center Chapel with Father Ken Smits, Capuchin, presiding. &nbsp; Memorials can be directed to the CSA Mission Advancement Office, 320 County Road K, Fond du Lac, WI 54937.&nbsp; The
