Della M. Morgan, age 84, passed away on Wednesday, May 12, 2021, at 
her home in Healy, Kansas.&nbsp; She was born on April 9, 1937, in Logan 
County, Kansas, the daughter of Clifford &amp; Idella Russell Wright.&nbsp; 
Della was a Healy &amp; Lane County resident for 30 years moving from 
Scott City, Kansas.&nbsp; She was a homemaker and a farm wife.

On May 7, 1955, she married Ronnie L. Morgan in Garden City, Kansas.&nbsp; He survives.

Survivors include her Husband - Ronnie L. Morgan of Healy, Kansas, 
One Daughter - Rhonda &amp; Larry Russell of Scott City, Kansas, Two 
Sisters - Sue West of Scott City, Kansas, Carolyn Hundermark of Scott 
City, Kansas, Eight Brothers - Dewey Wright of Scott City, Kansas, Dan 
Wright of Scott City, Kansas, Wilbur Wright of Scott City, Kansas, 
Marion Wright of Scott City, Kansas, Roy Wight of Scott City, Kansas,

She was preceded in death by her Parents, One Sister - Velda Spencer,

Great Granddaughter - Kalley Russell.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 15, 2021, 
at the Healy Cemetery in Healy, Kansas with Rev. Bud Tuxhorn presiding.

Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday and 10:00 
a.m. until 12:00 p.m. Saturday at Price &amp; Sons Funeral Home in Scott
 City, Kansas.

Interment will be in the Healy Cemetery in Healy, Kansas.

Roy Torres Jr., 47, of Leoti, KS died Thursday, May 13, 2021, at the Wichita County Health Center in Leoti, KS.

He was born September 21, 1973, in Tribune, KS the son of Roy Torres

Roy worked at Tyson Fresh Foods, Holcomb, KS as a maintenance

for American Welding, and would weld grain bins as a master welder.&nbsp;

He is survived by three sons, Sonnie Torres of Garden City, KS, 
Lennox Torres of Hugoton, KS, and Jaxon Torres of Hugoton, KS; a sister,
 Monica Sullivan of Dumas, TX; a brother, Abel Torres of Ellsworth, KS;

Roy Torres Jr.

William L. “Bill” Patmon Sr., son of C.M. and Grace (Stayer) Patmon was 
born on February 24, 1928, at the family home in Hoxie, Kansas. He 
attended school in Hoxie except for a period spent living in California.
 Bill married his sweetheart, Maxine Karnes, on July 25, 1945, at the 
courthouse in Colby, Kansas. Together, they lived southwest of Hoxie 
where he and his honey created their little slice of heaven. During the
 first seven years, they added four children, Barbara Ringer (Richard) 
Lenny Patmon (Michelle), Sue Mountford (Wayne), and Cindy Brainard (Tim)
 which multiplied the joys and quadrupled the work.
 Along with farming and raising cattle, the family found some time 
after wheat harvest each year to travel to LA Center, Washington to 
visit his mother and other family members. As the kids grew up and 
joined 4-H, Bill served as a Project Leader. He also drove a school bus
 for 18 years while the Patmon kids were in school and remained a friend
 to many because of those years. Bill participated in the Neighborhood 
Entertainment Company for several years to support the community and 
share his love of singing.
 Faith was central to Bill’s life, and he belonged to the Christian 
Church where he served as Chairman of the Board, Elder and enjoyed 
singing in the choir. In later years, he joined the Methodist Church 
where he served willingly.
 Bill and his son, Lenny, formed Patmon Ranch in 1972 and farmed 
together until Bill’s retirement in 2010. During these years Bill 
became a member of the Farm Bureau Board of Directors, a position he 
held for eight years. During his tenure on the Board, he and Maxine 
traveled a great deal and made new and lasting friendships. A part of 
their earlier years included square dancing, card clubs and being part 
of a bowling league. Bill took pilot’s lessons and later bought a Piper
 Tri Pacer. He thoroughly loved flying. 
 Loved ones left to morn his passing are his beloved wife, Maxine; 
son Lenny Patmon (Michelle); daughters, Barbara Ringer (Richard), Sue 
Mountford (Wayne), and Cindy Brainard (Tim); brother, David Patmon; 
sister, Vivian Edwards (Ray); 14 grandchildren; 30&nbsp; great-grandchildren; and friends.
 He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Charles Patmon; and sisters, Grace Oren and Patty Christansen.
 A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, May 17, 2021, at the Hoxie
 United Methodist Church at 10:30 A.M. Interment will immediately 
follow the service in the Hoxie City Cemetery. Visitation will be held

Frank Lee Simmons, 48, died May 14, 2021, at his home in Claflin, 
Kansas.&nbsp; He was born August 31, 1972, in Hoisington, Kansas, the son of 
Lawrence L. and Evelyn B. (Hofmeister) Simmons.

Frank was a lifelong resident of Claflin and had worked as a landscaper.

He is survived by a companion, Penny Kennedy of the home; son, Zack 
Gumtau and wife Alisa of the home; daughter, Kelly Simmons of Wichita; 
sisters, Ruby Simmons of Kansas City, Missouri, and Annebelle Komarek 
and husband Jason of Kearny, Missouri; and three grandchildren, 
Jeramiah, James and Nova.

A Celebration of Life Service will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, May 22,

 Ross was born in Levant, Kansas, on March 25, 1933, the son of Harry 
and Orba Leonard Weber. He attended St. Francis High School and 
graduated from Colby High School. Ross married Scharlett Rodgers in 
1955. He served two years in the Kansas National Guard and six years in 
the Army Reserves. He retired from KDOT as an engineering technician 
after 43 years of service. Ross was a good father and husband and had a 
passion for life and lived it to the fullest. Ross and Scharlett loved 
to travel and enjoyed many road trips together. He also enjoyed spending
 time at Lake Wilson and cars. Ross is survived by his wife, 
Scharlett; children, Vickie Shaver (Ned), Terry Ulrich (Bill), Ross 
Weber, Jr. (Louanne), Torrie Jones (Shane), and Rodger Weber; 14 
grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
 He was preceded in death by his daughter, Scharla Weber, granddaughter,
 Jamie Symns, parents, and siblings, Ocie Koenig, Opal Anderson, Mildred

Ross Allen Weber

Marion "Mick" Cridling Harper, age 85, died January 10, 2021, at his 
home in Tribune, Kansas. He was born on June 1, 1935, in Holly, Colorado,
 the son of Alden C. and Iva Elam Harper.

On December 27, 1956, he married Elaine Mae Stegman.&nbsp; She preceded him in death on February 9, 2016.

Mick grew up in Holly Colorado and was a wrestler on the very FIRST 
Holly wrestling team. He also played football and went to Dodge City 
Community College and then on to Adams State University on a football 
scholarship. His first job was coming to Tribune in 1957.&nbsp; He initially 
taught 5th grade and junior high.&nbsp; He coached football for 10 years, 
taught in the classroom for 10 years, was in administration for 29 
years, and a wrestling coach for 21 years.&nbsp; He coached TWK (Tribune 
Wrestling Kids) for many years. He was inducted into the National 
Wrestling Hall of Fame in Stillwater, Oklahoma for coaching in 2006.

He was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Tribune, 
Kansas.&nbsp; He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Greeley
 County Golf Association.&nbsp; He worked at the C.O.O.P. for many years 
during his summer breaks.&nbsp; He was a loving husband, dad, papa, brother 
and friend.&nbsp; He enjoyed playing golf, cards, John Wayne and watching KU 
and the Chiefs.

Survivors include:&nbsp; Four Daughters - Denise (Rick) Schworm of 
Watkins, Colorado; Pamela (Jr.) Lang of Tribune, Kansas; Rhonda (Mike)

Marion 'Mick' Cridling Harper

John Lawrence Melton Jr., 68, passed away May 11, 2021, at his home 
in Great Bend. He was born March 12, 1953, at St. Louis, Mo., to John 
Lawrence Melton, Sr. &amp; Pauline (Crabtree) Melton. He married Marcia 
Klingler March 1, 1980, at Great Bend.

John had partnered with his father for 30 years in the concrete 
business M &amp; S Construction. He had also worked for Duke Drilling 
for 14 years. He loved to ride motorcycles, fishing, camping, and 
hunting.&nbsp;

Survivors include, his wife Marcia Melton of the home; his children, 
Kevin Melton, Amy Marvin, John P. Melton, and Michael Melton; his 
sister, Loretta Byington; his brothers, Ronnie Melton, Roger Johnson and
 Virgil Russom; and 5 grandchildren, Arianna Melton, Jeremiah Melton, 
Caidynn Melton, William Bowers, Breanna Bowers.

There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place. Memorials 
have been designated to the John Melton Funeral Expense Fund, in care of
 Bryant Funeral Home.

Clark Whiting, a beloved father, gifted educator, and widely known as 
the best grandpa in the world, passed away May 11, 2021. Born in Amy, 
Kansas on June 1, 1926, to Lyda and Ira Whiting, he learned to love 
school at an early age and became a teacher after his time in the 
infantry during World War II. 
He married Betty Jean Whiting in August of 1948 and they had four 
beautiful children. Clark and Betty treasured the time they spent 
involved in their children's academic and sports extracurriculars. 
Clark believed in the power of education in people's lives and worked to
 support countless students throughout his tenure as a principal in 
Dighton and superintendent in Little River and Newton. Clark Whiting had
 an impressive resume, but his greatest legacy was the kindness he 
showed to each and every person in his path. 
He was an avid genealogist and would even help other people research 
connections within their own family trees and ancestry. Clark 
volunteered his time as a Volunteer Tax Assistant and as a member of the
 Lions Club. He was also very involved in his faith community and served
 as the president of the Sunday school. His lifelong commitment to the 
St. Louis Cardinals created a legacy of "Cards fans" in his children and
 grandchildren. He was a skilled tennis player, staying active in local 
games until he was 88. 
In his later years, when he wasn't enjoying a bag of Fritos or teaching a
 grandchild how to play tennis, he could be found admiring the fireflies
 outside his window. He appreciated all the beauty in his life, in big 
and small ways. 
Clark is survived by his four children Susan, Carol, Kevin, and Julie, 
children-in-law Elaina, Jim, and John, and grandchildren Andrea and 
Michelle. 
Memorial Service: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 15, 2021 at the United Methodist Church, Dighton, Kansas.

Charlotte Ann Wasko, age 71, of Oakley, passed away on Monday, May 10, 
2021, at the Hays Medical Center, Hays.&nbsp; She was born July 4, 1949, in 
Quinter, the daughter of Lawrence and Magdolena “Maggie” (Maurath) 
Zerr.&nbsp; Charlotte married Matt Wasko on November 28, 1981, in Oakley. Charlotte
 enjoyed spending time in her kitchen, cooking and baking.&nbsp; She loved 
her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, especially the photo and 
phone call updates.&nbsp; Charlotte also enjoyed traveling to Michigan and 
Colorado to visit her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.&nbsp; 
She was an active member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and the Altar 
Society. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Debbie (Mike) Dewitt; and brother, Garry Zerr. She

Mary Lou (Dick) Saryerwinnie, 58 of Casa Grande, Arizona, passed away August 22, 2020, after a long illness with cancer.

Mary was born November 2, 1961, in Russell, Kansas.&nbsp; She was the 
youngest daughter of Harold and Donna (Turley) Dick.&nbsp; She grew up in 
Russell and graduated from Russell High School in the Class of 1980.

Mary was united in marriage to Gary Elmquist.&nbsp; This union was blessed
 with a son Trent Allen.&nbsp; They later divorced.&nbsp; Later in life, she was a
 companion to Don Veach and worked as a secretary for Veach 
Commincations.&nbsp; They traveled to several States with the business, 
ending in Coolidge, Arizona, until Don’s death.&nbsp; Later, she was united in
 marriage to Dennis Saryerwinnie on February 14, 2017, in Casa Grande.

Mary enjoyed traveling, shopping, gardening and most of all her small dog Monique.&nbsp; She loved visiting with family and friends.

Mary’s surviving family include her mother, Donna Dick of Russell, 
Kansas; son, Trent Elmquist of Osawatomie, Kansas; husband, Dennis 
Saryerwinnie of Wichita Falls, Texas; grandsons, Mason and Prestin of 
Osawatomie, Kansas; brothers, Michael Dick (Kathy) of Russell, Kansas 
and Kevin Dick of Russell, Kansas; sister, Tina Langerman (Larry) of 
Wilson, Kansas; half sister, Jeanine Innes (John) of Kansas City,

She a was a member of the Sacred Heart Church and Altar Society, she 
served on the board of the Ness City Leisure Years Center and was a 
member of the Frank Stull Post 152 American Legion Auxiliary.&nbsp; Shirley 
worked for over 45 years at the Ness County Hospital in dietary and as 
the purchasing agent.&nbsp; She married Alex A. “Junior” Gabel on November 
10, 1959, in Ness City, Kansas. He proceeded her in death on June 14, 
2005.

Survivors include a daughter, Valerie Gabel (Randy) of Rowlett, 
Texas; three sons, Steve Brackney (Sharon) of Charleston, South 
Carolina, Craig Gabel (Teresa) of Wichita, and Brian Gabel (Carolyn) of 
Ness City; 9 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. She was preceded 
in death by her parents, husband, “Junior” Gabel, two brothers, Kenneth 
and Duane Brackney; two grandchildren, Jacob and Tyler Gabel; a 
sister-in-law, Nita Brackney; and a niece, Jolinda.

Shirley Gertrude Gabel

Donald L. “Donnie” Phelps, age 75, died Tuesday, May 
11, 2021, at Kansas Heart Hospital in Wichita, Kansas. He was born 
September 27, 1945, in Lakin, Kansas, the son of Jeff W. and Dorothy 
(Ansel) Phelps. 
Donnie grew up in Ulysses and graduated from Grant County Rural High 
School. He married Peggy Watie on May 27, 1967, in Ulysses. For many 
years, Donnie was an active member of the Ulysses Bit &amp; Spur Club, 
served on the Grant County Fair Board for numerous years, served on the 
Grant County Extension Council, was a 4-H Leader, and coached kids 
sports. He was currently employed at Lucas Farms of Johnson and had 
previously been a long-time cowboy. Donnie was a team roper, and 
supported his family and extended family in all of their activities. He
 was often heard saying “That will cost you a quarter." 
Donnie is survived by his wife, Peggy of their home; son, Brandon Phelps
 and fiancé Paula Ybarra of Ulysses; daughter, Susanne Brazeal and wife 
Melissa of Ulysses; brother, Jerald Phelps and wife Sharon of Ulysses; 
sister, Kay Spangler and husband Larry of Bethany, Oklahoma; 
grandchildren, Britley Sierra and wife Sophia of Ulysses, Brance Phelps 
and Kiva of Hays, Bravane Phelps and wife Tiana of Ulysses, Brady Valdez
 of Menard, Texas, Taydon Phelps and fiancé Krysta Wedel of Salina, and 
Gracelynn Phelps of Ulysses; four great-grandsons; Kaden, Hitan, Easton,
 and Harris Donald; and numerous nieces and nephews. 
Donnie is preceded in death by his parents; infant sons; daughter, 
Shannan Valdez; and granddaughters, Sha Ane Valdez and Ezri Chavez 
Ybarra. 
Funeral service will be Saturday, May 15, 2021, at 2:00 PM at the Grant 
County Fairgrounds Rodeo Arena in Ulysses, Kansas, with Minister Warren 
Baldwin officiating. The service will also be live streamed on Garnand 
Funeral Home Facebook page. Interment will follow at the Ulysses 
Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, May 14, 2021, from 2:00 PM until 
8:00 PM at Garnand Funeral Home in Ulysses.

Donnie grew up in Ulysses and graduated from Grant County Rural High 
School. He married Peggy Watie on May 27, 1967, in Ulysses. For many 
years, Donnie was an active member of the Ulysses Bit &amp; Spur Club, 
served on the Grant County Fair Board for numerous years, served on the 
Grant County Extension Council, was a 4-H Leader, and coached kids 
sports. He was currently employed at Lucas Farms of Johnson and had 
previously been a long-time cowboy. Donnie was a team roper, and 
supported his family and extended family in all of their activities. He
 was often heard saying “That will cost you a quarter." 
Donnie is survived by his wife, Peggy of their home; son, Brandon Phelps
 and fiancé Paula Ybarra of Ulysses; daughter, Susanne Brazeal and wife 
Melissa of Ulysses; brother, Jerald Phelps and wife Sharon of Ulysses; 
sister, Kay Spangler and husband Larry of Bethany, Oklahoma; 
grandchildren, Britley Sierra and wife Sophia of Ulysses, Brance Phelps 
and Kiva of Hays, Bravane Phelps and wife Tiana of Ulysses, Brady Valdez
 of Menard, Texas, Taydon Phelps and fiancé Krysta Wedel of Salina, and 
Gracelynn Phelps of Ulysses; four great-grandsons; Kaden, Hitan, Easton,
 and Harris Donald; and numerous nieces and nephews. 
Donnie is preceded in death by his parents; infant sons; daughter, 
Shannan Valdez; and granddaughters, Sha Ane Valdez and Ezri Chavez 
Ybarra. 
Funeral service will be Saturday, May 15, 2021, at 2:00 PM at the Grant 
County Fairgrounds Rodeo Arena in Ulysses, Kansas, with Minister Warren 
Baldwin officiating. The service will also be live streamed on Garnand 
Funeral Home Facebook page. Interment will follow at the Ulysses 
Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, May 14, 2021, from 2:00 PM until 
8:00 PM at Garnand Funeral Home in Ulysses. Memorial contributions may

Izak Logan Hays passed away on Monday, May 10, 2021, at the young age of
 20, in Hays, Kansas. He was born on December 14, 2000, to Bryan and 
Tosha (Thomas) Hays in Hays, Kansas.
 Izak grew up in Plainville where he attended Plainville High School 
and graduated with the class of 2019. Through his high school career, he
 enjoyed football, school plays and competing in the Forensics meets. 
Izak was known to take center stage in all facets of life. As the class 
clown and a storyteller, he loved to make people laugh and smile; he was
 an all-around entertainer. Along with his vibrant personality and 
ability to capture the love and attention of his peers, he was talented 
with poetry, creating rap lyrics, singing, and playing other instruments
 as well. He was very computer smart and enjoyed I.T. type work, he was 
instrumental in helping his technology teacher create PHS’s Bird’s Eye 
View, as well as being the first student announcer for their broadcasts.
 Izak looked into I.T. as a future career. He was currently working for 
Mission Construction Company Inc. on a road crew. Izak was not only 
funny, but very headstrong and good at arguing. We can honor his memory 
by doing as Izak did, and stay unapologetically ourselves, live to make 
others smile, and cherish every day.
 He is preceded in death by his great-grandparents, Van and Marjorie Strutt, Phyllis Hill, and Bert &amp; Margaret Hays.

He worked in the Ellis and Russell County oil fields for a number of years.&nbsp; He grew up in Hutchinson, Kansas then moved to Hill City, Kansas, where he attended school.&nbsp; He moved to Russell, Kansas, about a year ago from Hays, Kansas. &nbsp;

Survivors include three sons, Dale VanDruff and Halley Miller, Wamego, KS; Robert McCullough, Larned, KS; Chayse McCullough, Plainville, KS; one daughter, Brooke Parkin and husband, (Benjamin), Greensburg, KS; four brothers, James McCullough and wife, Misty Dawn, Macon, MO; Jacob McCullough and wife, Doneta, North Pole, AK; Christopher McCullough, Russell, KS; David Hickey, Olathe, KS; and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three infant sons.

His wishes were cremation, and the family will be having a Celebration Of Life Service at a later date.&nbsp; Inurnment will be in the Larned City Cemetery.&nbsp;

Charlotte Ann Wasko, age 71, of Oakley, passed away on Monday, May 
10, 2021, at the Hays Medical Center, Hays. Charlotte was born to

A. Sharon Linder Mullen, age 85, passed away on Friday, May 7, 2021, 
at the Wichita County Health Center in Leoti, Kansas.&nbsp; She was born on 
June 6, 1935, at the rural home of her paternal grandfather, Emil 
Linder, in Dickinson County, Kansas.&nbsp; Sharon was the oldest child of 
Albert and Mabel Burr Linder.&nbsp; She graduated from high school in May of 
1953 in Seibert, Colorado.

Sharon was married to Leonard L. Mullen in Raton, New Mexico on 
December 29, 1951.&nbsp; To this union were born three sons and one daughter,
 Rick, Kevin, Shane, and Kandice.&nbsp; They moved to Wichita County in March
 of 1956 where they resided to the present.

She was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church where she 
had served as elder, deacon, and co-moderator of United Presbyterian 
Women and the 3 church team.

Sharon was a life member of McCowen Crouch #6952 VFW Auxiliary where 
she served as Chaplain&nbsp;and Secretary/Treasurer.&nbsp; She was a trustee in 
the 6th District Auxiliary and also a member of the Wichita County 
Health Center volunteers.

Sharon is survived by two sons; Rick &amp; Patty Mullen of 
Plainville, Kansas, Kevin &amp; Kathy Mullen of Leoti, Kansas, and one 
daughter, Kandice McCabe of Pueblo, Colorado, and a daughter-in-law, 
Cindy Mullen of Oakley, Kansas.&nbsp; Eight Grandchildren and Seventeen Great
 Grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, spouse, and one son, Shane Mullen.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, June 11, 2021, at
 the First United Presbyterian Church in Leoti, Kansas with the Pastor

Bernard Michael "Bernie" Adam, 67, of Garden City, passed from this life
 on May 6, 2020, after a long, courageous battle with cancer. 
Bernie was born on January 11, 1953, to Ben and Bertha (Reinert) Adam in
 Plainville, KS. The family moved to Esbon in 1956 where he went to 
school and worked on the family farm until they moved to Tipton in 1969.
 He completed his education at Tipton High School in 1971. 
After high school he started his lifelong work in construction and 
carpentry, eventually starting Bernard Adam Construction in Garden City.
 He found a true passion in helping people when he became the Housing 
Program Coordinator at the Center for Independent Living in Garden City 
for three years. He built and remodeled many homes and businesses in 
Garden City and the surrounding area throughout the years and did 
beautiful work. 
He married the love of his life, Mary Bergmann, in 1978 and moved to 
Garden City where they built a beautiful home and had three wonderful 
children, Katie, Kelsie, and Joseph. 
He is survived by his wife, Mary and children Katie Bird and husband 
Jeff of Rose Hill, KS, Kelsie McMillan and husband Brandon of Hays, KS, 
and Joseph of Kansas City, MO, his brother John Adam and wife Albertha 
of Salina, sister Kathryn Burghart and husband Bernie of Salina, sister 
Tilly Kirchner of Charlotte, NC, brother Ed Adam and wife Judy of 
Tipton, brother Jack Adam of Des Moines, IA, sister Suzie Talbert of 
Pasadena, CA, sister Barb Reinert and husband Alan of Wichita, along 
with numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. He is also survived 
by four grandchildren that he loved dearly: Aiden, Sophia, Hailey, and 
Addyson.

He enjoyed hunting and fishing with family and friends, vintage 
automobiles, and collecting coins. His favorite way to spend a weekend 
would be attending an auction followed by an Old Western marathon, with 
Church and NASCAR on Sunday. Bernie will be remembered for his strong 
faith in God, his courage, his amazing ability to fix anything, and his 
sense of humor that came out at the most unexpected moments. He will be
 missed and remembered by everyone who knew him. 
Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 17, 2021 at St. 
Dominic Catholic Church in Garden City with Rev. Warren Stecklein as

Bernard Michael 'Bernie' Adam

Patricia A. McConnell, 83, Salina, passed away November 24, 2020, at 
Salina Regional Health Center. She was born September 8, 1937, in Great 
Bend, KS, to Leonard and Clara (Birzer) Bahr.

She married Warren Ervin McConnell on October 6, 1959.&nbsp;&nbsp; Patricia 
worked as a Registered Nurse at Clara Barton Hospital up until her 
retirement. She was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church and Altar 
Society, Hoisington.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Clara Bahr; and brother, Donald Bahr.

Survivors include; her husband, Warren “Ervin”; children, Edwinda 
(Wayne) Day of Isabel, Weldon (Karla) McConnell of Salina, Jan (Jody) 
Pfannenstiel of Salina, and Renee (Scott) Suppes of Great Bend; seven 
grandchildren, Miranda Flores, Kristen Flores, Erica Harford, Sarah 
McConnell, Nathan McConnell, Lauren Suppes and MaKayla Suppes; sisters,

Patricia A. McConnell

Cathern Lee (Thouvenelle) Trapp, 82, of Russell, Kansas, died on 
Friday, May 07, 2021, at her family’s home in the Flint Hills outside of
 Manhattan KS

Cathern was born on September 19, 1938, in Lucas, Kansas, the 
daughter of George Gerald (G.G) and Bertie Orene (Pitchford) 
Thouvenelle.&nbsp; As a young girl she grew up in Lucas but moved to Russell,
 Kansas, in 1954, and graduated from Russell High School in the class of
 1956.&nbsp; She met, fell in love and was united in marriage to Herman R. 
Trapp on July 31, 1959, in Russell.&nbsp; From this union they were blessed 
with two sons Charley and Scott.&nbsp; Herman preceded her in death on 
February 13, 1997.&nbsp; She owned and operated Cathy’s Beauty Nook from 1965
 to&nbsp; 1994.&nbsp; After closing her beauty shop she went to work at the 
Russell County Landfill for many years until she retired.&nbsp; Cathern found
 love a second time and was a faithful companion to Don Kilian for many 
years before he passed away on May 21, 2020.&nbsp; She was a longtime member 
of St. John Lutheran Church in Russell.&nbsp; She was also a member of 
T.O.P.S., B.P.W. and the Shrine.&nbsp; She enjoyed sewing, knitting, cooking,
 lawn work, watching Kansas State University sports and being a 
homemaker.&nbsp; Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family, 
especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Surviving family include her sons Charley H. Trapp and wife Angela of
 Junction City, Kansas, and Scott A. Trapp and wife Cami Kesinger of 
Leavenworth, Kansas; sister Georgia Ann Thorson and husband Charlie of 
Surprise, Arizona; grandkids Morgan Trapp-Manhattan,&nbsp;KS, Lindy (Trapp) 
Swart-Westmoreland, Kansas, and Emma (Trapp) Leuthold-rural Manhattan,&nbsp; Kansas, Kynser Wahwahsuck-Lawrence, Kansas, and Kruz 
Wahwahsuck-Leavenworth, Kansas,&nbsp;and great grandkids Bryden Trapp, Kimber
 Swart, Casen Swart, and Madeline Leuthold.

She was preceded in death by her parents, as previously mentioned her
 husband Herman and brothers Jack, Norm and David Thouvenelle. A private
 celebration of Cathern’s life will be held at the Russell City Cemetery
 and cremation has been selected per Cathern’s wishes.&nbsp; Visitation will

Cathern L. Trapp

Gary Dee Smith, 81, died May 11, 2021, at Clara Barton Hospital, 
Hoisington, Kansas. He was born September 20, 1939, in Vesper, Kansas, 
the son of Robert and Goldie (Clark) Smith.&nbsp; Gary graduated from Lincoln
 High School in 1957 and later served in the United States Navy.&nbsp;

On March 6, 1965, he married Janice Marie Cates in Great Bend.&nbsp; She survives.

A longtime Barton County resident, Gary was a retired police 
officer.&nbsp; He first worked in Lincoln, Kansas, and later Salina, Kansas, 
before taking a position in Great Bend in which he retired as a 
Detective Lieutenant. He also worked at Guthrie Trailer Sales for 29 
years and then 9 years in loss prevention for Wal-Mart, finally retiring
 at the age of 75.&nbsp; Gary was also a part of the Barton County Sheriff’s 
Reserves and was a member of the Encounter Church, formerly known as 
First Assembly of God Church in Great Bend.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Janice Smith of the home; 
three sons, Gary “Bubba” Smith and wife DeAnn of Hoisington, Michael 
Smith and wife Jo of Great Bend, and Chris Smith and wife Stephanie of 
St. John; two brothers, Ronnie Smith of Ozark, Missouri, and Robert 
Smith of Lincoln, Kansas; 10 grandchildren, Presley, Delaney, and 
Addison Smith, Hallie Smith, Elizabeth Friess, Andrea Falk, Dakota, 
Alyson, Hunter and Ava Smith; four great grandchildren, Rylie, Zayne and
 Laney Friess, and Molly Falk; and his beloved dog, Yogi.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Ricky Smith; brother,
 Larry Smith; and sisters, Carolyn Smith, JoAnn Michels, and Patty 
Kissick.

Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, at the funeral home.

Stewart Edwards McAdoo, 69, of Russell, Kansas, died on Friday, May 7, 2021, at his home in Russell, Kansas.

Stewart was born on October 04, 1951, in Russell, Kansas, the son of 
Stewart Leslie and Josie Edna (VanHouten) McAdoo.&nbsp; He grew up in 
Russell, Kansas, and graduated from Russell High School in the class of 
1969.&nbsp; After high school he received his welding certification from the 
Salina Vo-Tech School in Salina, Kansas.&nbsp; He met, fell in love and was 
united in marriage to Janet Sue Ross on May 26, 1971, in Hays, Kansas.&nbsp; 
From this union Stewart and Janet were blessed with three sons Doug, 
Mike and Curt.&nbsp; The McAdoo family made their home and raised their kids 
in Russell.&nbsp; Stewart worked as a welder and most notably worked for 
Easter Davis at Easter’s Welding Service.&nbsp; He loved being a welder and 
became well known for his attention to detail and craftmanship that made
 him known as one of the most respected welders in the Russell area.&nbsp; 
Stewart enjoyed fishing and hunting but most of all he enjoyed spending 
time with his family.&nbsp; He especially enjoyed spending time and playing 
with his many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Gregory Unruh, 61, of Weskan, KS, passed away on Sunday, May 9, 2021, at his home.

Greg was born in Craig, CO to Waldo and Bette Unruh on December 22, 1959.&nbsp; He graduated from Weskan High School in 1979.&nbsp; Once he finished with school he began working in the oil field.&nbsp; Greg worked for Murfin Drilling Company for 37 ½ years as a tool pusher.

Greg enjoyed life on the farm, especially when the grandchildren would visit to help take care of all the animals.&nbsp; Greg’s other joy in life were his dogs.

Preceding him in death were his parents Waldo and Bette Unruh, and his grandparent’s Leon and Irene Asher and William and Augusta Unruh.

He is survived by his wife Angela Herschberger of Weskan, KS, his sister Caroline Unruh and husband Dan of Garden City, KS, his children Gregory Unruh, Jr. of Goodland, KS, Jamie and David Proctor of Colorado Springs, CO and Christopher Unruh of Goodland, KS.&nbsp; He is also survived by his step children Ashleigh and James Gore of Kadena Air Force Base in Okinawa, Japan, Kristi and RJ McCall of Forney, TX, Janie and Jarrod Schmidt of Tribune, KS and Cole Herschberger of Stanley, ND; as well as his 10 grandchildren.

Gregory Unruh

Mary Ellen Bell, 93, originally from WaKeeney, KS, died May 3, 2021, at Holiday Resort Health and Rehabilitation in Salina, KS, where she had been a resident since September 2017.

Miss Bell was born October 13, 1927, in WaKeeney, KS, to William Otis and Alma Flora (Harger) Bell.&nbsp; A 1947 graduate of WaKeeney High School, she served as a caregiver for her mother for 30 years.

Survivors include her sister, Lois Baalmann of Salina, KS; nieces Linda (Baalmann) Jones (Dan) of Salina, KS, Carol Baalmann of Shawnee, KS, Beverly (Baalmann) Rodriguez (James) of Fayetteville, NC, Kristi (Waldron) Rohr of Mesa, AZ, and Alice (Rohr) Sorenson (Steve) of Lincoln, NE; nephew Jerry Rohr (Connie) of Holiday, FL; and numerous great-nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Ruth Irene Bell and Wilma Jean (Bell) Rohr (Aloysius); and nephews Allen Rohr (Kristi) and Mark Rohr (Karen).

Funeral services will be Saturday, May 15, 2021 at 11:00 am at Schmitt Funeral Home, 336 N. 12th St., WaKeeney, KS, where the family will greet friends from 10:00 am to 11:00 am before the service.&nbsp; Interment will be in the WaKeeney City Cemetery following the service.

 </figure>Mary Ellen Bell, 93, originally from WaKeeney, KS, died May 3, 2021, at Holiday Resort Health and Rehabilitation in Salina, KS, where she had been a resident since September 2017.Miss Bell was born October 13, 1927, in WaKeeney, KS, to William Otis and Alma Flora (Harger) Bell.&nbsp; A 1947 graduate of WaKeeney High School, she served as a caregiver for her mother for 30 years.Survivors include her sister, Lois Baalmann of Salina, KS; nieces Linda (Baalmann) Jones (Dan) of Salina, KS, Carol Baalmann of Shawnee, KS, Beverly (Baalmann) Rodriguez (James) of Fayetteville, NC, Kristi (Waldron) Rohr of Mesa, AZ, and Alice (Rohr) Sorenson (Steve) of Lincoln, NE; nephew Jerry Rohr (Connie) of Holiday, FL; and numerous great-nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Ruth Irene Bell and Wilma Jean (Bell) Rohr (Aloysius); and nephews Allen Rohr (Kristi) and Mark Rohr (Karen).Funeral services will be Saturday, May 15, 2021 at 11:00 am at Schmitt Funeral Home, 336 N. 12th St., WaKeeney, KS, where the family will greet friends from 10:00 am to 11:00 am before the service.&nbsp; Interment will be in the WaKeeney City Cemetery following the service.Memorials are suggested to the Humane Society.&nbsp; Donations may be sent to Schmitt Funeral Home, 336 N 12th St. WaKeeney, KS 67672.
