Marlin Gene “Mark” Foster passed away on Tuesday, June 29, 2021, at the Hays Medical Center in Hays, Kansas at the age of 84. He was born to Ivan and Emma (Ziems) Foster on March 19, 1937, in Arapahoe, Nebraska. Mark was blessed with four children: Rick, Randy, Rhonda, and Rebecca.

Mark grew up in Nebraska and attended school in Arapahoe. In his early adult years, he moved to several places including Phillipsburg, Grand Island, Kearney, Hill City, and others before settling into Stockton about 15 years ago. He was a talented autobody mechanic and all-around handyman. He had an eye for detail and made sure things were done the right way, his way. Mark rarely missed coffee in the morning at Doug’s with his buddies, he kept a full cup from the beginning of the day until the day was done. Outside of his love for fixing up cars he had a passion for hunting and boat fishing. He competed in several fishing tournaments and has many trophies to show for it. Mark loved dogs and enjoyed training them to hunt. He trained a lot of Labrador Retrievers, but his friends and family will always remember a Weimaraner named Sarge and his American Brittany, Ticker. Mark had a “sure of himself” way about him, but if you ask the grandkids or his dogs, there was a softer side. 11 years of Mark’s life was dedicated to care for his late wife Doris while she was battling Alzheimer’s. Mark stayed by her side and made sure she was properly taken care of in their home until the day she passed away in 2010.

Mark will be greatly missed by all who got to know him, but his memory will live on in our hearts and minds. Through his life he taught us that a job worth doing, is a job worth doing well, to enjoy the little things, and to serve God and one another.

He is survived by his children, Rick Foster of Deluth, MN, Randy (Erin) Foster of Norman, OK, Rhonda (Eugene) Gooding of Timnath, CO, and Rebecca (Daniel) Buckman of Stoutsville, MO; siblings, Roger Foster of Republican City, NE and Ellen Anderson of Gaylord, KS; brother-in-law, Bob Anderson of Downs, KS; thirteen grandchildren, Shanna, Steven, Adam, Sonie, Travis, Sarah, Ashley, Sheena, Stevie, Shane, Shawn, and Whitney, and Fifteen Great-Grandchildren, Kathryn, Logan, Eva, Bastian, Tristan, Raina, Emma, Brody, Carson, Lana, Bryce, Talon, Benson, Jovey, and Samuel.

Mark joins in heaven his parents, Ivan and Emma Foster; wife, Doris (Senesac) Foster; sister, Carol Anderson; grandchild, Nicholas; sister-in-law, JoAnn Foster; and brother-in-law, Gerald Anderson.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, July 3, 2021 at the St. Thomas Catholic Church in Stockton starting at 10 AM. Visitation will be held on Friday at the funeral home from 4PM until 8PM with a Vigil Service and Rosary starting at 7PM.

Memorials are suggested to Masses or to the Marlin Foster Memorial Fund to assist with funeral expenses and may be sent in care of Plumer-Overlease Funeral Home, 723 North First, Stockton, KS 67669.
