David Robert “Dave” Halbleib, 69, Hays, died Sunday, May 30, 2021, at HaysMed.

He was born December 2, 1951, in Hays, 
the son of Robert and Eleanor (Leiker) Halbleib.&nbsp; In 1969, he graduated 
from McCracken High School and in 1971, he earned an Associate Degree in
 electronics from Northwest Kansas Technical College.&nbsp; He was united in 
marriage on September 2, 1972, to Judy Linden in McCook, Nebraska and 
they celebrated 48 years of marriage.&nbsp; Dave was a television repairman, 
owned and operated Dave’s TV and Appliance, and was a farmer and 
cattleman in the Brownell area.&nbsp; After retiring from farming, Dave and 
Judy moved to Hays, and for 18 years he worked in the deli at Walmart.&nbsp; 
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council in Ransom.&nbsp; Dave 
collected coins, liked cars, was a handyman, and enjoyed woodworking and
 making walking sticks out of old tree limbs.&nbsp; He loved his family and 
spending as much time as possible with his grandchildren.&nbsp;

He is survived by his wife: Judy of 
Hays, two daughters: Becky Scheuerman and husband Chris and Kim Chesney 
and husband Andy, all of Wichita, a son-in-law: Ryan Kufahl and wife 
Lindsay of Topeka, and seven grandchildren: Emily Scheuerman, Liz 
Scheuerman, Logan Kufahl, Kinsley Kufahl, Kent Chesney, Kalin Chesney, 
and Kolton Chesney.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter: Jenny Kufahl.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 
10:00 am on Thursday, June 3, 2021 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, with 
Father Brian Lager officiating.&nbsp; Private family inurnment will take 
place at a later date.&nbsp; The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm 
until 7:00 on Wednesday and from 9:00 am until 9:45 on Thursday, all at 
Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home.&nbsp; 

In lieu of flowers, memorials are

David Robert 'Dave' Halbleib

Cathy (Cobb) Ruby, 69, of Bunker Hill, Kansas, passed away Saturday, May 22, 2021, at the Russell Regional Hospital in Russell.

Cathy was born September 22, 1951, in Huntsville, Alabama. &nbsp;She was 
one of eight children to David Ray and Lena Kathleen (Tate) Cobb.&nbsp; She 
grew up in the Decatur, Alabama area and attended high school there.&nbsp; 
She later attended Broward Community College in Florida and Burton 
Community College in Great Bend, Kansas.&nbsp; She lived in the Bushton, 
Kansas area from 1977 to 1989.

Cathy was united in marriage to Bruce E. Ruby on January 23, 1990, in 
Russell, Kansas.&nbsp; They made their home in the Bunker Hill area.

Cathy was a devoted wife, homemaker and friend of Bruce.&nbsp; She also 
did some Data Processing for companies in Hays, Kansas.&nbsp; She was a 
member of the St. Mary, Queen of Angels Catholic Church of Russell.&nbsp; She
 also was a member of AARP and Good Sams Travel Club .&nbsp; She loved 
traveling, camping, reading, crocheting and spending time with family 
and friends. &nbsp;Bruce and her spent many years traveling to Lost Dutchman 
in Arizona.

Cathy’s surviving family include her husband of 31 years, Bruce of 
the home; three sons, John D. Wilbourn (Mary) of Alabama, William L. 
Wilbourn (Keirri) of Tennessee and Eugene K. Wilbourn (Kathy) of 
Oklahoma; two brothers, David Cobb, Jr. (Pat) of Huntsville, Alabama and
 Leonard Cobb (Rita) of Panama City Beach, Florida; five sisters, 
Minerva Aylor (George) of Florida, Edith Wilbourn of Alabama, Delena 
Mullnite (Mike) of Florida &amp; Sandra Mellott of Virginia; six 
grandchildren and many great grandchildren.

Cathy was preceded in death by her parents, sister Mary Gonzales, and
 two grandchildren. A Private Service will be held by the family at a 
later date.&nbsp; Cremation has taken place.&nbsp; Condolences may be sent to

Scott Hart

After a full, happy life, Lila Svoboda Robinson, was reunited with 
her family in heaven on October 20, 2020.&nbsp; Lila was born in Hill City, 
KS on October 30, 1924 to Louis and Anna (Lilak) Svoboda.&nbsp; She is 
preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Carol and Betty, brother, 
Bill and husband, Winfred(Rob) Robinson.&nbsp;

Lila’s adventure in life began at an early age, living through the 
events of the Great Depression.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; She graduated from High School, in 
1941, then attended Fort Hays State University, Hays, Kansas, where she 
received her teaching certificate in 1943 and taught for one year at the
 Saline River School in Ellis County and a second year at the Cheyenne 
Bottoms School in Barton County.&nbsp; While working for a brief period at 
the Munitions Depot during WWII, Lila joined the United States Cadet 
Nurse Corps program and attended St. Mary’s College in Leavenworth, 
Kansas, receiving her Registered Nurses’ License in 1947.&nbsp; She was 
especially proud of this accomplishment and continued her nursing career
 at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas.

She met her future husband, Winfred(Rob) Robinson on a blind date 
while attending nursing school.&nbsp; The date turned into a love story, and 
51 happy and successful years together.&nbsp;&nbsp; She was an extremely proud and
 very devoted mother of their seven children, Don, Ted, Bill, Karla, 
Chuck, Pam, Tricia, ten grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.&nbsp;

Her appetite for knowledge and education was insatiable, with a 
passion for reading anything and everything.&nbsp; Interests included art 
appreciation, coin collecting, sign language and anything to do with 
Kansas.&nbsp; She enjoyed a good debate on all subjects including politics, 
religion, sports, history, with a broad range of knowledge, past and 
present, but was happy to take time to listen and discuss, without 
passing judgment, anything that was on your mind.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

Lila was always busy, and knew no strangers but was a friend to 
everyone, offering a helping hand in any way possible.&nbsp; Her love for&nbsp; 
children was displayed by her involvement with Operation Kinderlift 
while stationed overseas in Germany.&nbsp; She was very active in PTA, 4-H, 
FHA, Sunday School, the Methodist Church, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, you 
name it, she would volunteer.&nbsp; She lived life to the fullest, with joy 
in her heart, all while humming her favorite tune along the way.

Graveside inurnment services will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, June
 5, 2021 at Pawnee Rock Cemetery, with Reverend Dick Ogle presiding.

Ann Rowh, 71, died Tuesday, December 22, 2020 at Western Plains Medical Complex, Dodge City.

She was born February 13, 1949 in Oberlin, Kansas, the daughter of 
George and Mary (Johnson) Votapka.&nbsp; She was a graduate of Jennings High 
School and on June 10, 1967 she married Rex Rowh in Jennings, Kansas. 
This year they celebrated their 53rd anniversary.&nbsp; They moved
 to Cimarron from Jennings over 50 years ago.&nbsp; She was a Para Legal for 
Kyler Knobbe Law Office in Cimarron for more than 40 years.&nbsp;

Ann was the Treasurer for the Gray County Fair Board for over 20 
years and spent many hours preparing and serving her infamous fair board
 beans. Ann was a member of the Gray/Ford County Legal Professional 
Association and held several elected office positions at the local, 
state, and national levels. She was also a member of the Pawnee Acer 
Community Building in Kalvesta.&nbsp; Ann loved to cook and bake and prepared
 food for numerous fund-raising events and funerals. She was very well 
known for her coconut and chocolate cream pies.

Survivors include: their 3 children, Jodi Rowh Inguanza and husband 
Raymond, Cimarron, Kip Rowh and companion Stacy Hilbrich, Bay City, 
Texas and Jason Rowh, Jennings, Kansas; her brother, Tom “Mot” Votapka, 
Jennings; 2 sisters, Sue Long, Jennings and Jean Lee Halligan and 
husband Rollie, Goodland; 7 grandchildren, Samantha Inguanza and fiancé,
 Derek Karst, Meagan Inguanza, Christopher Inguanza, Timothy Rowh and

Ann Rowh

Rex E. Rowh, 74, died Monday, December 21, 2020 at Western Plains Medical Complex, Dodge City.

He was born November 6, 1946 in Norton Kansas, the son of Donald and 
Dorothy (Vanover) Rowh.&nbsp; He was a 1965 graduate of Jennings High School,
 attended Ft. Hays State University and on June 10, 1967 he married Ann 
Votapka at Jennings, Kansas and this year they celebrated their 53rd
 anniversary.&nbsp; They moved to Cimarron from Clayton, Kansas over 50 years
 ago.&nbsp; Rex worked for Sid Warner for over 20 years, Tim Dewey for 20 
years and Cimarron Feeders until retiring in 2017.

He was a member of Pawnee Acer Community Building, Kalvesta and was 
an active volunteer with the Gray County Fair. Rex was known as a hard 
worker who loved his children, enjoyed spending time with his 
grandchildren and attending their school sports activities. Rex’s 
favorite past time was fishing with his many friends. Rex was actively 
involved in the cattle operation of Rowh Angus Ranch, Jennings KS.

Larry C. Turpin, loving&nbsp;husband ,&nbsp;dad and grandpa passed away May 28th, 2021 at Parklane Nursing Home at the age of 79.

Larry Chester Turpin was born March 16, 1942 at the Scott County 
Hospital to Chester B. Turpin, and Aletha Pauline Kitterman Turpin. &nbsp;He 
grew&nbsp;up in&nbsp;Scott City and graduated from Scott Community High School&nbsp;in 
1960.&nbsp;&nbsp;He went to Pratt Community college for 1 year to play basketball.
 &nbsp;Due to his&nbsp;sister’s&nbsp;illness&nbsp;he came back and helped &nbsp;while they were 
in&nbsp;the hospital in&nbsp;Denver. &nbsp;He went to work for his Grandad Kitterman in
 the construction business&nbsp;at this time. &nbsp;He married Brenda Mulch on 
June 10, 1962. &nbsp;He and Larry Funk started the L&amp;L Floor covering 
business&nbsp;and in 1966&nbsp;he&nbsp;an opportunity to go to work at the Post Office 
which he took. &nbsp;He&nbsp;also&nbsp;did floor covering on the side for Bruce’s and 
sold farm supplies&nbsp;and helped with harvest&nbsp;for his father-in-law. &nbsp;In 
1977&nbsp;he became a certified EMT&nbsp;and went on to get his instructor 
coordinator certificate to teach EMT classes. &nbsp;He was in charge of the 
ambulance service, taught EMT classes and worked for the Post Office 
taking the Postmaster position at Healy, KS 1987. &nbsp;In 1999 he retired 
from the Post Office after 35 years&nbsp;then&nbsp;he became the full time 
Ambulance Director&nbsp;in addition he was given&nbsp;the job of Emergency Manager
 for Scott County. &nbsp;In 2014, he retired from EMS and&nbsp;continued on 
as&nbsp;Emergency Manager for three more&nbsp;years.

He always said not many people get to work at two jobs they loved. &nbsp;He 
loved working with the people in the Post Office and driving ambulance 
to take care of people. &nbsp;He loved his kids, grandkids and 
great-grandkids very much

He is survived by his wife Brenda and best friend for 59 years. &nbsp;His 
daughter Tara and Don&nbsp;Williams ,&nbsp;his son Curtis and Jennifer of 
Winfield, Ks. &nbsp;Six grandchildren Caleb and Kami Williams of Hugoton, 
Jessie and Chad Ryan, Rachel and Jacob McDaniel, Jason and Rebekah 
Williams Scott&nbsp;City, &nbsp;Audrey&nbsp;and Chet Turpin of Winfield. &nbsp;Ten 
great-grandchildren Gavin, Emerson, Maddison and Camden Williams of 
Hugoton, Paige, Trey, Kanin and&nbsp;Landrey&nbsp;Ryan and Foster and Conner 
Williams of&nbsp;Scott&nbsp;City, a brother Gary and wife Beverly of Lawrence, 
KS,&nbsp;sister-in-laws&nbsp;Jeanne Burney, Karen Mulch, and&nbsp;brother-in-law Gary 
Kindra&nbsp;plus numerous nieces and nephews.&nbsp;He is preceded in death by his 
parents and his&nbsp;Tamra&nbsp;Renee.

He will be remembered for his service to the community.

Norma V. Kuhlman, 80, passed away Tuesday, May 25, 2021, at Mary Lanning Hospital, Hastings, NE. 
 Norma was born January 11, 1941, in Greenville, TX, the daughter of 
Wayne and Allene (Smith) Francis.&nbsp; On May 25, 1969, she married 
Frederick G. Kuhlman in Smith Center, KS. She was preceded in death by her parents. 
 Norma is survived by her husband Fred Kuhlman of Hastings, NE; a son 
Patrick (Hope) Odell of Hastings, NE; a daughter Sarah (Heath) Darveau 
of Gilbert, AZ; a brother David (Margie) Francis of Reno, NV; two 
sisters-in-law, Wanda Scheuerman of Smith Center, KS, Arlene Kuhlman of 
Hastings, NE; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. 
 A celebration of Norma's life will be held at 2:00 P.M., Friday, June 
11, 2021, at All Faiths Funeral Chapel, 113 S. Madison St., Smith 
Center, KS, with Pastor Randy Hill officiating.&nbsp; There will not be a 
public visitation as cremation was chosen.&nbsp; Burial will take place in

Lutie Ann Riedel, age 90, went to be with her Savior on December 16, 2020, in Marietta, Georgia.&nbsp;

Raised in Gove, Lutie married Lewis G. 
Riedel in 1951, lived in Hays, and had four children: Barbara Jean 
(stillborn), Betty Ruth (Ruth, deceased), Charles, and Janet (Jan).&nbsp; 
Lutie attended Fort Hays and earned degrees in Art, English Literature, 
and Nursing. She was well-known for her skill and generosity of tatting,
 crocheting, baking and fudge deliveries, especially at Christmas time.&nbsp;
 She was a member of First United Methodist in Hays, and later, Johnson 
Ferry Baptist in Marietta, Georgia.&nbsp; She is also survived by nieces and 
nephews, grand and great-grandchildren that called her GG and will miss 
her bright spirit and talkative nature. She is now probably doing her 
own version of “Dancing With the Stars."&nbsp; To know her was to love her, 
and to be loved by her.

Memorial services will be at 10:00 am 
on Monday, June 7, 2021, at Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, with Rev. 
Delbert Stanton officiating.&nbsp; Inurnment will follow in Mt. Allen 
Cemetery.&nbsp; The family will receive friends from 9:30 am until service 
time.

Susan Carolyn (Jeffus) Hill, 74, of Russell, Kansas, passed away 
Tuesday, May 25, 2021, at Hays Medical Center in Hays, Kansas.

Susan was born March 1, 1947, in Albuquerque, New Mexico.&nbsp; She was the
 daughter of Richard Fulton and Pepita(Otero) Park.&nbsp; She grew up in 
Santa Fe, New Mexico and graduated from Santa Fe High School in 1964.&nbsp;

Susan was a retired Wal Mart Personnel Manager.&nbsp; She worked for them 
in New Mexico and Washington state.&nbsp; She enjoyed doing Genealogy, 
knitting, crocheting and reading history and mystery novels.

Susan’s surviving family include: her Mother Pepita (John) Park of 
Beverly Hills, FL, three children; Tamara Sikes of Tampa Bay, Florida, 
Rebecca Perry (Dick) of Roy, Washington and David Sikes (Amber) of 
Russell, Kansas; two brothers, Jim (Jeanette) Jeffus of Houston, TX&nbsp; and
 Steve (Maggie) Jeffus of Surprise, AZ; and six grandchildren, Samantha,
 Allison, Katie, Kasey, Sophie and August.

Susan was preceded in death by her father, husband Curtis, and son William Sikes.

The family will hold Memorial services in New Mexico at a later 
date.&nbsp; Cremation has taken place. Condolences may be sent to

Bryan Keith McDonald, 59, of Raymore, Missouri passed away on May 21,
 2021, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Kansas City, MO surrounded by his wife
 Tammy and two sons, Shane and Shawn. &nbsp;He was born the son of Merlyn and
 Marvel (Albin) McDonald in Denver, CO, on September 25, 1961. He was a 
1980 graduate of Trego Community High School.

On June 25, 1983, Bryan was united in marriage to Tammy LeAnn 
Wendland of Oberlin, KS. He attended Kansas State University and Fort 
Hays State University. He then continued his education attending 
Northwest Kansas Technical College in Goodland, KS and graduated with 
his electrical journeyman’s license. &nbsp;He was a former resident of 
WaKeeney and Parker, Colorado before calling Raymore, MO his home. Bryan
 had his journeyman’s license in Kansas, Colorado and Missouri and he 
worked over 35 years loving what he did.&nbsp;

Bryan was an avid Denver Bronco fan and loved to tail gate and cheer 
them on. He loved to coach his sons in various youth sports and later 
enjoyed getting to cheer them on with their love for soccer. He enjoyed 
visiting Rocky Mountain National Park and Estes Park, CO. He loved his 
pets. He had a great sense of humor and his two favorite holidays were 
the 4th of July and Christmas. He enjoyed any chance to get together with family.

Bryan is survived by his wife, Tammy and two sons, Shane P. and Shawn
 R. McDonald of Raymore, MO; his father, Merlyn (Betty) McDonald, Gove,

Bryan’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, June 5, 2021, at the 
funeral home. Burial will be in the Union Cemetery, Collyer, KS.&nbsp; Family

following burial to visit, share memories, and celebrate the life of

Bryan Keith McDonald

Gerald “Dean” Strutt passed away on May 29, 2021, at his home in 
Stockton, KS, at the age of 87. He was born to Theodore and Sarah 
(Cadoret) Strutt on March 5, 1934 in Rural Osborne County. He was united
 in marriage to Clara Lee Livingston on May 1, 1956 at Gretna, KS. They 
were married 65 years and were blessed with two children: Mickey and 
Gail.
 Dean grew up in Osborne County and attended several different 
country schools. His favorite was Greenwood School with teacher Ruth 
Hikesmith. He graduated from Pleasant Plains School and went to work for
 a farmer north of Alton. He worked on the Webster Dam running a scraper
 for about three years, and then to Frank Walkers Service Station. Last,
 he worked for Rooks County from 1958 to 1994 when he retired. He was 
then elected Rooks County Commissioner for four years. Dean was baptized
 at the Wesley Methodist Church in Phillipsburg, KS.
 Left to cherish Dean’s memories is his wife, Clara Strutt of the 
home in Stockton; children, Mickey (Marcia) Strutt of McPherson and Gail
 (Diana) Strutt of Stockton; brother, Joseph (Ada) Strutt of Stockton; 
sisters, Gertrude (Howard) Morgan of Marion, KS and Judith (Tom) Butler

Judith “Judy” Pfiester, 74, passed away May 26, 2021, at Azria Health
 Great Bend. She was born November 30, 1946, at Salina, to Nyle &amp; 
Vivian (Erickson) Sarff. &nbsp;She married Richard Lohmeyer and they later 
divorced. She then later married Darwin Pfiester May 27, 1980, at 
McPherson. He died August 24, 2010.

A current Great Bend resident, Judith had previously lived in 
Washington Co., Larned, Salina and McPherson. She was a communications 
dispatcher for Washington County Sheriff’s Office and McPherson Police 
Department. She enjoyed People magazine, home decorating and home 
improvement shows. She loved cats and horses. Judith was the 1980 Rodeo 
Queen of the Washington County Fair.

Survivors include, four sons, John Lohmeyer and wife Donna of 
Pensacola, Fla., David Pfiester of Minneapolis, and twins, Daniel 
Pfiester and wife Jennifer of Great Bend, and Duane Pfiester of 
Superior, Neb.; five grandchildren, Natasha Stone, Darwin Pfiester, 
Deianira Pfiester, Frisco Pfiester, and Joseph Pfiester; and seven great
 grandchildren, Akira Stone, Tucker Stone, Ezekiel Stone, Jace Pfiester,
 William Pfiester, Claire Pfiester and Violet Pfiester. She was preceded
 in death by her parents; and her husband, Darwin Pfiester.

There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place. Private 
graveside services will be held at Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Brantford, 
Kan. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been designated to the Golden 
Belt Humane Society, in care of Bryant Funeral Home.

Randall Wayne “Randy” Jordan Sr., 75, 
Hays, died Wednesday, January 13, 2021 at Ascension St. John Medical 
Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

A memorial gathering and military honors will be at 3 p.m. June 4 at Pheasant Run Pancake House,&nbsp;3201 Vine St., Hays.

He was born March 14, 1945 in 
Cincinnati, Ohio, the son of Larry and Rose (Gilmore) Jordan.&nbsp; He was a 
graduate of Beason High School in Beason, Illinois in the class of 
1964.&nbsp; On September 4, 1964 he was united in marriage to Sue Clifton in 
Denver, Colorado, and they celebrated 56 years of marriage.&nbsp; Randy was a
 Vietnam Veteran serving in the U.S. Air Force from 1964 until 1968.&nbsp; He
 was a car salesman for James Motor Company for 25 years, a house 
builder, the owner and operator Jordelies, and after retirement started 
his frame shop, Acme Frame.&nbsp; He was a member of Pheasants Forever and a 
lifetime member and past Commander of Hays VFW Post #9076.&nbsp; He loved 
fishing, golfing, hunting, and being at his and Sue’s lake house on 
Tenkiller Lake in Oklahoma.&nbsp; Most of all, Randy absolutely adored his 
family and their time together.

Survivors include his wife Sue of Hays,
 two sons: Randall Wayne Jordan, Jr. and wife Myrna and Scott Allen 
Jordan and Becky, all of Hays, a brother: Richard Jordan of Springfield,
 IL, a sister: Linda Burkhart of Milwaukee, WI, nine grandchildren:

Randall Wayne 'Randy' Jordan Sr.

Grace Kum Chun Ho-Heim of San Diego passed away on March 26, 2021. Born on Sept. 10, 1939, in Singapore, she was the youngest child and only daughter of Say Yew Ho and Choi Peng Lee.

She grew up in Singapore and attended grade and high school there. She graduated from St. Anthony’s Convent School. After graduation, she attended Teacher’s Training College and spent several years teaching in Singapore. In the early 1970’s she began a new journey coming to the United States for more education. She came with deep faith knowing that since she could speak English she would be successful. Grace earned a bachelor’s degree at Westminster Choir College in Princeton, New Jersey in music education. After earning this degree, she attended the University of Kansas in Lawrence and graduated with a master’s degree in special education. She ended up in Hoxie, Kansas, where she taught children with learning disabilities. Here she met her future husband, Bill Heim, and they were married for nearly 25 years.

After the Kansas experience, she returned to teach in Singapore for a year. While there she was instrumental in bringing her mother to accept Christ as her Lord and Savior.

She returned to Kansas for another year of teaching before moving to San Diego in 1986. She taught special education and music for many years in the San Diego Unified School District. Assignments began at Florence Elementary, then on to Juarez Elementary and Terrasanta Elementary. Her final assignment was at Doyle Elementary. She retired in 2010. Grace had a beautiful soprano voice and enjoyed singing and playing the piano. She also enjoyed traveling, knitting, attending Bible Study classes, and visiting family and friends.

Sharing Christ with others and leading them to eternal salvation were a top priority for Grace. Family was also very important. She brought many of her nieces and nephews to a saving knowledge of Christ. She would gather them and bring them to weekly Sunday School classes at Wesley Methodist Church while in Singapore. She gifted her family by continually praying daily for them. She was always willing and ready to sacrifice for their well-being.

Grace is survived by her husband, Bill, of San Diego. She is also survived by two brothers Wing Kong and Win Tock and four sisters-in-law Ngan Mui, Dorothy Kwee Ying, Chew Peck, and Mei Lien all of Singapore, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Michael Weng Hin, Wing Kok, Wing Lee, and Weng Fatt and one sister- in- law Susie Loy Sitoh. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. June 14 at El Camino Mortuary Memorial in Sorrento Valley, 5600 Carroll Canyon Road, San Diego. A second service will be at 11 a.m. June 16 at the Mickey Leopold Funeral Home in Hoxie. Inurnment will follow the service at St. Frances Cabrini Cemetery in Hoxie. Carolyn Mae (Walker) Venters of Dighton, Kansas, left this earth the 
morning of May 24, 2021, at the age of 62.&nbsp; Carolyn was born on April 2, 
1959, in Ransom, Kansas, to Charles and Marjorie (Luther) Walker.&nbsp;

Survivors include one daughter, Chasity Kinderknecht and her husband Kyle of Hays; her son, Shawn Johnson of Dighton; two brothers, Rex Walker of Enid, Okla., and&nbsp; Dennis Walker (Duanna) of Utica; one sister, Minnie Popp (Myron); four grandchildren, Payton and Keaton Markley and Kyler and Spenser Kinderknecht; a much loved aunt, Rosalie Cheney of WaKeeney; and two sisters-in-law, Joann Walker of Utica and Mona Walker of Eads, Colo.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Charles Walker Jr. and Carroll Walker and one sister-in-law, Maxine Walker.

A life celebration service will be&nbsp; at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 2 at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Ness City.

Carolyn Mae (Walker) Venters

Doralyn Ann (Gasper) Dubbert, 95, Cawker City, Kan., died Dec. 4, 2020, while under the care of the staff at the Hays Med-The University of Kansas Health Center, Hays. &nbsp;Doralyn was born November 25, 1925, in Tipton, the 12th child of Frank and Mary Gasper.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Tipton.

Doralyn received her education at the Holy Corner Catholic School, Tipton. Upon entry, it was necessary for her to learn English since only German was spoken at home. She was a very bright and articulate individual, with an amazing memory unto her death. 

As a yong woman, she worked for several family members after her graduation, honing her cookig and homemaking skills. Doralyn met her lifelong mate, Gerald C. Dubbert, in Tipton. &nbsp;

After two years of dating, they married on June 17, 1947. &nbsp;Together she and Gerald undertook a farming, cattle and hog operation along Oak Creek in Mitchell County,&nbsp; and years later, in 1967, they moved to her current residence in rural Down, because of their displacement due to the construction of Waconda Lake Reservoir.

Gerald and Doralyn celebrated 52 years of marriage together prior to Gerald's passing in May 2000.

Doralyn's focus was always her beloved family. She was a devoted wife and mother. As a homemaker/farm wife, she was an excellent cook and seamstress. While she enjoyed baking and gardening, her loves were dancing, sewing, flower gardening and embroidery work. She never had an idol hand. Travel became a highlight later in life with Gerald as they journeyed to various Navy&nbsp;reunions across the country. Bringing her family together for gatherings was always her greatest priority!

Doralyn was a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church, Downs. Her faith and belief in God was the founding premise for how she lived life. &nbsp;She was involved in a variety of volunteer work activities, including assistance to the St. Mary's Altar Society, the Cancer Society and the VFW Auxiliary in Beloit. She was often called upon to bake her famous pies for local funerals and civic meetings.

Doralyn was truly a beautiful woman inside and out. Her kind and caring heart was evident to all that she met. Friends often commented on her sweet and gentle spirit; and likewise, complimented her on her meticulous appearance and sense of style and grace. She was truly a great listener while quietly maintaining a fun&nbsp;sense of humor!

The most appreciative of her life of strength and sacrifice were her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by: Steve Dubbert, Cawker City, Rodney Dubbert (Renee), Johnstown, Colo., Debby Loy (Wally), Barnard, Darla J. Fuertges (Don-deceased), Hays, Carolyn McDaneld (Kenny), Wellington; seven grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald; her parents; seven brothers; and four sisters; a great-grandchild, Colten Christopher Dubbert and numerous nieces and nephews.

 </figure>Doralyn Ann (Gasper) Dubbert, 95, Cawker City, Kan., died Dec. 4, 2020, while under the care of the staff at the Hays Med-The University of Kansas Health Center, Hays. &nbsp;Doralyn was born November 25, 1925, in Tipton, the 12th child of Frank and Mary Gasper.Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Tipton.Doralyn received her education at the Holy Corner Catholic School, Tipton. Upon entry, it was necessary for her to learn English since only German was spoken at home. She was a very bright and articulate individual, with an amazing memory unto her death. As a yong woman, she worked for several family members after her graduation, honing her cookig and homemaking skills. Doralyn met her lifelong mate, Gerald C. Dubbert, in Tipton. &nbsp;After two years of dating, they married on June 17, 1947. &nbsp;Together she and Gerald undertook a farming, cattle and hog operation along Oak Creek in Mitchell County,&nbsp; and years later, in 1967, they moved to her current residence in rural Down, because of their displacement due to the construction of Waconda Lake Reservoir.Gerald and Doralyn celebrated 52 years of marriage together prior to Gerald's passing in May 2000.Doralyn's focus was always her beloved family. She was a devoted wife and mother. As a homemaker/farm wife, she was an excellent cook and seamstress. While she enjoyed baking and gardening, her loves were dancing, sewing, flower gardening and embroidery work. She never had an idol hand. Travel became a highlight later in life with Gerald as they journeyed to various Navy&nbsp;reunions across the country. Bringing her family together for gatherings was always her greatest priority!Doralyn was a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church, Downs. Her faith and belief in God was the founding premise for how she lived life. &nbsp;She was involved in a variety of volunteer work activities, including assistance to the St. Mary's Altar Society, the Cancer Society and the VFW Auxiliary in Beloit. She was often called upon to bake her famous pies for local funerals and civic meetings.Doralyn was truly a beautiful woman inside and out. Her kind and caring heart was evident to all that she met. Friends often commented on her sweet and gentle spirit; and likewise, complimented her on her meticulous appearance and sense of style and grace. She was truly a great listener while quietly maintaining a fun&nbsp;sense of humor!The most appreciative of her life of strength and sacrifice were her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by: Steve Dubbert, Cawker City, Rodney Dubbert (Renee), Johnstown, Colo., Debby Loy (Wally), Barnard, Darla J. Fuertges (Don-deceased), Hays, Carolyn McDaneld (Kenny), Wellington; seven grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald; her parents; seven brothers; and four sisters; a great-grandchild, Colten Christopher Dubbert and numerous nieces and nephews.

Paxton Lewis Moreland, 28, of Russell passed away Sunday, May 23 at Via Christi St. Francis in Wichita.

Paxton was born July 10, 1992 in Hays. He was the son of Dennis Moreland Jr. and Kelli Geary.

He grew up and attended schools in Russell and Benson, Minn. He graduated from Benson High School in 2010.

Paxton was united in marriage to Jennifer Ginther on Aug. 13, 2016 in Russell, where they made their home.

Paxton was a hard worker, dedicated to those around him. His trades were welding and as an oil field worker. Most recently, he worked on pulling units with Patriot Well Service

 In 2017 he worked for El Dorado, Inc. in Salina as a welder. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing and riding dirt bikes.

Paxton was a loving husband and father. He would often decorate the house and outdoors for Jennifer and goof around with the kids; anything to put a smile on their faces. Paxton was happiest when spending time with family and friends.

Paxton is survived by his wife Jennifer of the home; five children, Jace Hilbrink, Ryler Ginther, Sofia Ginther, Paxton Moreland Jr., and Madilyn Moreland, all of the home; father, Dennis Moreland Jr. (Sarah Falk) of Denver; mother, Kelli Geary of Russell; brother, Tayton Moreland of Russell; sister, Courtney Moreland of Sylvan Grove; grandparents, Dennis Sr. and Sondra Moreland of Russell; uncles, cousins and many close friends.

Paxton was preceded in death by his great-grandparents, Lewis and Teresa Jones and Clifford and Mae Moreland.

Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 2 at St. John Lutheran Church.

Burial will follow at the St. John Lutheran Cemetery in Russell. 

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. (the family will receive friends between 6 and 7 p.m.) Tuesday, June 1, 2021 at Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary.

Elaine Kay Patee, 63, of Osborne, KS passed away on Tuesday, May 25, 
2021, at the Osborne County Memorial Hospital. &nbsp;She was born on November 
4, 1957, in Lucas, KS to Edward &amp; Laura (Meyer) Princ. &nbsp;Elaine was 
one of several children.

Elaine graduated from high school and furthered her education for 4 more years.

Elaine married Darrell Patee &amp;&nbsp;to this union, 2 children were born. &nbsp;They made Osborne their home. &nbsp;

Elaine worked as an Office Manager at State Farm Insurance in Osborne. &nbsp;She&nbsp;was a member of the Faith Luthern Church.

Elaine enjoyed gardening-&nbsp;growing vegetables and flowers. &nbsp;Another 
activity&nbsp;she &nbsp;enjoyed with Darrell was attending car shows. &nbsp;They worked
 as a team going to those events.

Elaine was preceded in death by her parents &amp; a sister, Diane Princ.

Elaine is survived by her husband, Darrell of the home; son: Jason 
(Brandy) Patee of Osborne; daughter: Jessica (Brian) Maddox of 
Indianapolis, Indiana; sisters: Barbara Applegate of Osborne; Carol Hoss

Neil Harmon Fischer peacefully passed away, surrounded by the people he 
loved, on Sunday, May 23, 2021 at Kearney Regional Medical Center in 
Kearney, Nebraska, at the age of 86. 

He was born on February 28, 1935 
in Plainville, Kansas to the late Nicholas and Beatrice (Kaba) Fischer. 
 On October 3, 1954 he was united in marriage to Doris Miller in Radium,
 Kansas. They were blessed with two daughters, Nalisha and Crystal.
 Neil’s life revolved around staying busy, working hard for his 
family, and serving his friends, neighbors, and community. He held 
several jobs throughout his lifetime, including selling magazines for 
Cappers Reader’s Service, laboring at the local meat locker, working as 
an electrician and carpenter, but mostly tending to the farm while 
building his reputable certified wheat seed business known as Fischer’s 
Finest Field Seeds. 
 Neil was an integral part of the community and instrumental in many 
of the organizations he belonged to. He served as President of the 
Rooks County Historical Society for several years, Director for the 
Civil Defense Department in Plainville, was a faithful member of the 
Jaycees Community Betterment Program, part of the Plainville Rescue 
Squad for over 50 years, worked on the “Chain Gang” for hometown 
Cardinal football games, and was on the Plainville Township Board until 
he passed away. He continued to work until he physically was no longer 
able, and even from his hospital bed, he made calls, checked on 
projects, and was in touch with fellow laborers up to the very last day 
of his life. That alone speaks volumes to the type of man he was and 
the character he possessed.
 In his earlier years, Neil enjoyed hunting, and later in life he 
discovered his love for gardening, woodworking, and baking. He was 
always very proud of his rhubarb cobblers and made sure to supply them 
for friends and loved ones no matter the occasion. And although he led a
 very busy life, he always made sure to make plenty of time for those he
 loved the most, his family and friends. He was a very loving and 
compassionate man that treated everyone equally. He cared for his 
family with an unmet love and was always checking in on them. 
 Neil was also a very gentle man and was kind to every animal and 
person he met. He certainly held a very special love for his little 
furry friend, Chip, who kept him company after his long days of hard 
work. He was truly devoted to his work, family, and all those around 
him, with a never-ending, never-tiring love.
 Neil is survived by his two loving daughters, Nalisha Cotter of 
Littleton CO, and Crystal (Ward) Craig of Russell; four grandchildren, 
Jennifer (Chad) Hopkins, Eric (Lauren) Cotter, Calder Craig and Kiefer 
Craig; two great-grandchildren, Aibhilin Hopkins and Malachi Hopkins; 
his honorary Czech granddaughter Kate (Martin) Martykanova and 
great-grandchildren Adeina and Hynek; and his loving companion Vivian 
Humphrey.
 He was preceded in death by his parents, Nicholas and Beatrice 
(Kaba) Fischer; wife, Doris Fischer; and his sister Jacqueline (Don) 
Prickett.

Neil Harmon Fischer

Howard was born January 28,1935 on a farmstead north of Arnold, 
Kansas to Everett and Jessie (Charles) Haug. Howard passed away 
peacefully in his sleep on May 22, 2021.

They moved to Gravette, Arkansas during his very young years then 
moved back to Kansas to a farm north of Arnold where he attended country
 school. He loved to spend his time riding his bicycle, hunting, and 
fishing.

He'd always bring his 'catch' home no matter how awful. From coyotes 
to skunks to raccoons and many other wild creatures, much to his 
mother’s chagrin!

Howard married Rosanna Herrman October 21, 1956 at Ness, Kansas. To 
this union were born three children; Diane, Howard Jr., and Philip. 
Howard and Rosanna lived all over southeast Kansas in their early years 
together before settling in Garden City where they stayed for over 40 
years. Howard worked as the Yard Supervisor at Cash and Carry Lumber for
 40 plus years and Rosanna worked as a nurse at St. Catherines' Hospital
 for 20 years. Howard loved to spend his weekends deer hunting at his 
cabin in Trego County.

Howard and Rosanna retired to Ransom Kansas where they spent their 
last 20+ years together. He spent his time in retirement out at his 
cabin, hunting, raising cattle, planting big gardens of potatoes, 
vegetables, wheat, cane, and pumpkins which he loved to share with all 
the town folks.

He also raised burros for several years and even won first place in the Old Settler's Parade with his burros.

Howard loved his family and fed them well. Howard took very good care
 of his wife Ann, he cooked for her and helped her with daily tasks. He 
was a generous and kindhearted man who always helped someone when they 
needed a helping hand. One of his many joys was feeding all his 
grandkids when they'd come to visit. He will always be remembered for 
his famous Angus beef cheeseburgers and home-made pancakes.

Howard is preceded in death by both parents, brothers Kenneth and Dallas Haug, son Phil and daughter-in-law Sheila Haug,

Howard is survived by his wife Rosanna of 64 years, daughter Diane 
and her husband Mitch Keim, son Howard (Sonny) Jr. and wife Cheryl Haug,
 9 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, and 4 great-great 
grandchildren.

Cremation has taken place and small private memorial for the family will follow at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be given to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Robert Lee Daniels, 79, passed away May 26, 2021, at Woodhaven Care 
Center, Ellinwood. He was born July 21, 1941, at Plainville, to Elmer 
&amp; Atha (Thomas) Daniels. He married Lisa Johnson June 19, 1993.

Robert was a brick layer for Tim Clothier. He loved fishing, hunting,
 spending time with his family, listening to his oldies music and 
drinking bud light.

Survivors include, his wife, Lisa Daniels of the home; a daughter, 
Kena Daniels; two sons, Lavert Johnson and Stephan Johnson; 
stepchildren, Deandrea, Joy, Jamie and Victoria; a brother, Floyd 
Daniels; he was beloved by several grandchildren, great grandchildren 
and a multitude of nieces and nephews. Also surviving is his first wife,
 Tiny and their children, Troy, Tracy and Teresa. He was preceded in
