Infant Jentry Isabella Mai, of Russell, Kansas, was given to God on 
Tuesday, May 25, 2021, at Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, 
Missouri.

Those Jentry leaves behind are her parents Matt and Erin Mai and 
sister Maeson T. Christie all of Russell, Kansas; paternal grandparents 
Gerald and Mary Mai from Russell, Kansas as well as many extended 
family.&nbsp; She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather Gary D. 
Christie. 

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Tuesday, June 
01, 2021, at the St. John Lutheran Church in Russell, Kansas.&nbsp; Burial 
will follow at the St. John Lutheran Cemetery also in Russell.&nbsp; 


Memorials may be given to Children’s Mercy Hospital and sent in care of

Bryan Keith McDonald, 59, of Raymore, Missouri passed away on May 21,
 2021, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Kansas City, MO surrounded by his wife
 Tammy and two sons, Shane and Shawn. &nbsp;He was born the son of Merlyn and
 Marvel (Albin) McDonald in Denver, CO, on September 25, 1961. He was a 
1980 graduate of Trego Community High School.

On June 25, 1983, Bryan was united in marriage to Tammy LeAnn 
Wendland of Oberlin, KS. He attended Kansas State University and Fort 
Hays State University. He then continued his education attending 
Northwest Kansas Technical College in Goodland, KS and graduated with 
his electrical journeyman’s license. &nbsp;He was a former resident of 
WaKeeney and Parker, Colorado before calling Raymore, MO his home. Bryan
 had his journeyman’s license in Kansas, Colorado and Missouri and he 
worked over 35 years loving what he did.&nbsp;

Bryan was an avid Denver Bronco fan and loved to tail gate and cheer 
them on. He loved to coach his sons in various youth sports and later 
enjoyed getting to cheer them on with their love for soccer. He enjoyed 
visiting Rocky Mountain National Park and Estes Park, CO. He loved his 
pets. He had a great sense of humor and his two favorite holidays were 
the 4th of July and Christmas. He enjoyed any chance to get together with family.

Bryan is survived by his wife, Tammy and two sons, Shane P. and Shawn
 R. McDonald of Raymore, MO; his father, Merlyn (Betty) McDonald, Gove,

Gerald “Dean” Strutt passed away on May 29, 2021, at his home in 
Stockton, KS, at the age of 87. He was born to Theodore and Sarah 
(Cadoret) Strutt on March 5, 1934 in Rural Osborne County. He was united
 in marriage to Clara Lee Livingston on May 1, 1956 at Gretna, KS. They 
were married 65 years and were blessed with two children: Mickey and 
Gail.
 Dean grew up in Osborne County and attended several different 
country schools. His favorite was Greenwood School with teacher Ruth 
Hikesmith. He graduated from Pleasant Plains School and went to work for
 a farmer north of Alton. He worked on the Webster Dam running a scraper
 for about three years, and then to Frank Walkers Service Station. Last,
 he worked for Rooks County from 1958 to 1994 when he retired. He was 
then elected Rooks County Commissioner for four years. Dean was baptized
 at the Wesley Methodist Church in Phillipsburg, KS.
 Left to cherish Dean’s memories is his wife, Clara Strutt of the 
home in Stockton; children, Mickey (Marcia) Strutt of McPherson and Gail
 (Diana) Strutt of Stockton; brother, Joseph (Ada) Strutt of Stockton; 
sisters, Gertrude (Howard) Morgan of Marion, KS and Judith (Tom) Butler 
of Enid, OK; sister-in-law, Bonnie Strutt of Lincoln, KS; five 
grandchildren, Bradley Strutt, Hayley (Steven) Moll, Macey Strutt, Ryan

Judith “Judy” Pfiester, 74, passed away May 26, 2021, at Azria Health
 Great Bend. She was born November 30, 1946, at Salina, to Nyle &amp; 
Vivian (Erickson) Sarff. &nbsp;She married Richard Lohmeyer and they later 
divorced. She then later married Darwin Pfiester May 27, 1980, at 
McPherson. He died August 24, 2010.

A current Great Bend resident, Judith had previously lived in 
Washington Co., Larned, Salina and McPherson. She was a communications 
dispatcher for Washington County Sheriff’s Office and McPherson Police 
Department. She enjoyed People magazine, home decorating and home 
improvement shows. She loved cats and horses. Judith was the 1980 Rodeo 
Queen of the Washington County Fair.

Survivors include, four sons, John Lohmeyer and wife Donna of 
Pensacola, Fla., David Pfiester of Minneapolis, and twins, Daniel 
Pfiester and wife Jennifer of Great Bend, and Duane Pfiester of 
Superior, Neb.; five grandchildren, Natasha Stone, Darwin Pfiester, 
Deianira Pfiester, Frisco Pfiester, and Joseph Pfiester; and seven great
 grandchildren, Akira Stone, Tucker Stone, Ezekiel Stone, Jace Pfiester,
 William Pfiester, Claire Pfiester and Violet Pfiester. She was preceded
 in death by her parents; and her husband, Darwin Pfiester.

There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place. Private 
graveside services will be held at Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Brantford,

Randall Wayne “Randy” Jordan Sr., 75, 
Hays, died Wednesday, January 13, 2021 at Ascension St. John Medical 
Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

A memorial gathering and military honors will be at 3 p.m. June 4 at Pheasant Run Pancake House,&nbsp;3201 Vine St., Hays.

He was born March 14, 1945 in 
Cincinnati, Ohio, the son of Larry and Rose (Gilmore) Jordan.&nbsp; He was a 
graduate of Beason High School in Beason, Illinois in the class of 
1964.&nbsp; On September 4, 1964 he was united in marriage to Sue Clifton in 
Denver, Colorado, and they celebrated 56 years of marriage.&nbsp; Randy was a
 Vietnam Veteran serving in the U.S. Air Force from 1964 until 1968.&nbsp; He
 was a car salesman for James Motor Company for 25 years, a house 
builder, the owner and operator Jordelies, and after retirement started 
his frame shop, Acme Frame.&nbsp; He was a member of Pheasants Forever and a 
lifetime member and past Commander of Hays VFW Post #9076.&nbsp; He loved 
fishing, golfing, hunting, and being at his and Sue’s lake house on 
Tenkiller Lake in Oklahoma.&nbsp; Most of all, Randy absolutely adored his 
family and their time together.

Survivors include his wife Sue of Hays,
 two sons: Randall Wayne Jordan, Jr. and wife Myrna and Scott Allen 
Jordan and Becky, all of Hays, a brother: Richard Jordan of Springfield,

Randall Wayne 'Randy' Jordan Sr.

Grace Kum Chun Ho-Heim of San Diego passed away on March 26, 2021. Born on Sept. 10, 1939, in Singapore, she was the youngest child and only daughter of Say Yew Ho and Choi Peng Lee.

She grew up in Singapore and attended grade and high school there. She graduated from St. Anthony’s Convent School. After graduation, she attended Teacher’s Training College and spent several years teaching in Singapore. In the early 1970’s she began a new journey coming to the United States for more education. She came with deep faith knowing that since she could speak English she would be successful. Grace earned a bachelor’s degree at Westminster Choir College in Princeton, New Jersey in music education. After earning this degree, she attended the University of Kansas in Lawrence and graduated with a master’s degree in special education. She ended up in Hoxie, Kansas, where she taught children with learning disabilities. Here she met her future husband, Bill Heim, and they were married for nearly 25 years.

After the Kansas experience, she returned to teach in Singapore for a year. While there she was instrumental in bringing her mother to accept Christ as her Lord and Savior.

She returned to Kansas for another year of teaching before moving to San Diego in 1986. She taught special education and music for many years in the San Diego Unified School District. Assignments began at Florence Elementary, then on to Juarez Elementary and Terrasanta Elementary. Her final assignment was at Doyle Elementary. She retired in 2010. Grace had a beautiful soprano voice and enjoyed singing and playing the piano. She also enjoyed traveling, knitting, attending Bible Study classes, and visiting family and friends.

Sharing Christ with others and leading them to eternal salvation were a top priority for Grace. Family was also very important. She brought many of her nieces and nephews to a saving knowledge of Christ. She would gather them and bring them to weekly Sunday School classes at Wesley Methodist Church while in Singapore. She gifted her family by continually praying daily for them. She was always willing and ready to sacrifice for their well-being.

Grace is survived by her husband, Bill, of San Diego. She is also survived by two brothers Wing Kong and Win Tock and four sisters-in-law Ngan Mui, Dorothy Kwee Ying, Chew Peck, and Mei Lien all of Singapore, as well as many nieces and nephews.  </figure>Grace Kum Chun Ho-Heim of San Diego passed away on March 26, 2021. Born on Sept. 10, 1939, in Singapore, she was the youngest child and only daughter of Say Yew Ho and Choi Peng Lee.She grew up in Singapore and attended grade and high school there. She graduated from St. Anthony’s Convent School. After graduation, she attended Teacher’s Training College and spent several years teaching in Singapore. In the early 1970’s she began a new journey coming to the United States for more education. She came with deep faith knowing that since she could speak English she would be successful. Grace earned a bachelor’s degree at Westminster Choir College in Princeton, New Jersey in music education. After earning this degree, she attended the University of Kansas in Lawrence and graduated with a master’s degree in special education. She ended up in Hoxie, Kansas, where she taught children with learning disabilities. Here she met her future husband, Bill Heim, and they were married for nearly 25 years.After the Kansas experience, she returned to teach in Singapore for a year. While there she was instrumental in bringing her mother to accept Christ as her Lord and Savior.She returned to Kansas for another year of teaching before moving to San Diego in 1986. She taught special education and music for many years in the San Diego Unified School District. Assignments began at Florence Elementary, then on to Juarez Elementary and Terrasanta Elementary. Her final assignment was at Doyle Elementary. She retired in 2010. Grace had a beautiful soprano voice and enjoyed singing and playing the piano. She also enjoyed traveling, knitting, attending Bible Study classes, and visiting family and friends.Sharing Christ with others and leading them to eternal salvation were a top priority for Grace. Family was also very important. She brought many of her nieces and nephews to a saving knowledge of Christ. She would gather them and bring them to weekly Sunday School classes at Wesley Methodist Church while in Singapore. She gifted her family by continually praying daily for them. She was always willing and ready to sacrifice for their well-being.Grace is survived by her husband, Bill, of San Diego. She is also survived by two brothers Wing Kong and Win Tock and four sisters-in-law Ngan Mui, Dorothy Kwee Ying, Chew Peck, and Mei Lien all of Singapore, as well as many nieces and nephews. Carolyn Mae (Walker) Venters of Dighton, Kansas, left this earth the 
morning of May 24, 2021, at the age of 62.&nbsp; Carolyn was born on April 2, 
1959, in Ransom, Kansas, to Charles and Marjorie (Luther) Walker.&nbsp;

Survivors include one daughter, Chasity Kinderknecht and her husband Kyle of Hays; her son, Shawn Johnson of Dighton; two brothers, Rex Walker of Enid, Okla., and&nbsp; Dennis Walker (Duanna) of Utica; one sister, Minnie Popp (Myron); four grandchildren, Payton and Keaton Markley and Kyler and Spenser Kinderknecht; a much loved aunt, Rosalie Cheney of WaKeeney; and two sisters-in-law, Joann Walker of Utica and Mona Walker of Eads, Colo.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Charles Walker Jr. and Carroll Walker and one sister-in-law, Maxine Walker.

A life celebration service will be&nbsp; at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 2 at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Ness City.

Doralyn Ann (Gasper) Dubbert, 95, Cawker City, Kan., died Dec. 4, 2020, while under the care of the staff at the Hays Med-The University of Kansas Health Center, Hays. &nbsp;Doralyn was born November 25, 1925, in Tipton, the 12th child of Frank and Mary Gasper.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Tipton.

Doralyn received her education at the Holy Corner Catholic School, Tipton. Upon entry, it was necessary for her to learn English since only German was spoken at home. She was a very bright and articulate individual, with an amazing memory unto her death. 

As a yong woman, she worked for several family members after her graduation, honing her cookig and homemaking skills. Doralyn met her lifelong mate, Gerald C. Dubbert, in Tipton. &nbsp;

After two years of dating, they married on June 17, 1947. &nbsp;Together she and Gerald undertook a farming, cattle and hog operation along Oak Creek in Mitchell County,&nbsp; and years later, in 1967, they moved to her current residence in rural Down, because of their displacement due to the construction of Waconda Lake Reservoir.

Gerald and Doralyn celebrated 52 years of marriage together prior to Gerald's passing in May 2000.

Doralyn's focus was always her beloved family. She was a devoted wife and mother. As a homemaker/farm wife, she was an excellent cook and seamstress. While she enjoyed baking and gardening, her loves were dancing, sewing, flower gardening and embroidery work. She never had an idol hand. Travel became a highlight later in life with Gerald as they journeyed to various Navy&nbsp;reunions across the country. Bringing her family together for gatherings was always her greatest priority!

Doralyn was a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church, Downs. Her faith and belief in God was the founding premise for how she lived life. &nbsp;She was involved in a variety of volunteer work activities, including assistance to the St. Mary's Altar Society, the Cancer Society and the VFW Auxiliary in Beloit. She was often called upon to bake her famous pies for local funerals and civic meetings.

Doralyn was truly a beautiful woman inside and out. Her kind and caring heart was evident to all that she met. Friends often commented on her sweet and gentle spirit; and likewise, complimented her on her meticulous appearance and sense of style and grace. She was truly a great listener while quietly maintaining a fun&nbsp;sense of humor!

The most appreciative of her life of strength and sacrifice were her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by: Steve Dubbert, Cawker City, Rodney Dubbert (Renee), Johnstown, Colo., Debby Loy (Wally), Barnard, Darla J. Fuertges (Don-deceased), Hays, Carolyn McDaneld (Kenny), Wellington; seven grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Paxton Lewis Moreland, 28, of Russell passed away Sunday, May 23 at Via Christi St. Francis in Wichita.

Paxton was born July 10, 1992 in Hays. He was the son of Dennis Moreland Jr. and Kelli Geary.

He grew up and attended schools in Russell and Benson, Minn. He graduated from Benson High School in 2010.

Paxton was united in marriage to Jennifer Ginther on Aug. 13, 2016 in Russell, where they made their home.

Paxton was a hard worker, dedicated to those around him. His trades were welding and as an oil field worker. Most recently, he worked on pulling units with Patriot Well Service

 In 2017 he worked for El Dorado, Inc. in Salina as a welder. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing and riding dirt bikes.

Paxton was a loving husband and father. He would often decorate the house and outdoors for Jennifer and goof around with the kids; anything to put a smile on their faces. Paxton was happiest when spending time with family and friends.

Paxton is survived by his wife Jennifer of the home; five children, Jace Hilbrink, Ryler Ginther, Sofia Ginther, Paxton Moreland Jr., and Madilyn Moreland, all of the home; father, Dennis Moreland Jr. (Sarah Falk) of Denver; mother, Kelli Geary of Russell; brother, Tayton Moreland of Russell; sister, Courtney Moreland of Sylvan Grove; grandparents, Dennis Sr. and Sondra Moreland of Russell; uncles, cousins and many close friends.

Paxton was preceded in death by his great-grandparents, Lewis and Teresa Jones and Clifford and Mae Moreland.

Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 2 at St. John Lutheran Church.

Burial will follow at the St. John Lutheran Cemetery in Russell.

Elaine graduated from high school and furthered her education for 4 more years.

Elaine married Darrell Patee &amp;&nbsp;to this union, 2 children were born. &nbsp;They made Osborne their home. &nbsp;

Elaine worked as an Office Manager at State Farm Insurance in Osborne. &nbsp;She&nbsp;was a member of the Faith Luthern Church.

Elaine enjoyed gardening-&nbsp;growing vegetables and flowers. &nbsp;Another 
activity&nbsp;she &nbsp;enjoyed with Darrell was attending car shows. &nbsp;They worked
 as a team going to those events.

Elaine was preceded in death by her parents &amp; a sister, Diane Princ.

Neil Harmon Fischer peacefully passed away, surrounded by the people he 
loved, on Sunday, May 23, 2021 at Kearney Regional Medical Center in 
Kearney, Nebraska, at the age of 86. 

He was born on February 28, 1935 
in Plainville, Kansas to the late Nicholas and Beatrice (Kaba) Fischer. 
 On October 3, 1954 he was united in marriage to Doris Miller in Radium,
 Kansas. They were blessed with two daughters, Nalisha and Crystal.
 Neil’s life revolved around staying busy, working hard for his 
family, and serving his friends, neighbors, and community. He held 
several jobs throughout his lifetime, including selling magazines for 
Cappers Reader’s Service, laboring at the local meat locker, working as 
an electrician and carpenter, but mostly tending to the farm while 
building his reputable certified wheat seed business known as Fischer’s 
Finest Field Seeds. 
 Neil was an integral part of the community and instrumental in many 
of the organizations he belonged to. He served as President of the 
Rooks County Historical Society for several years, Director for the 
Civil Defense Department in Plainville, was a faithful member of the 
Jaycees Community Betterment Program, part of the Plainville Rescue 
Squad for over 50 years, worked on the “Chain Gang” for hometown 
Cardinal football games, and was on the Plainville Township Board until 
he passed away. He continued to work until he physically was no longer 
able, and even from his hospital bed, he made calls, checked on 
projects, and was in touch with fellow laborers up to the very last day 
of his life. That alone speaks volumes to the type of man he was and 
the character he possessed.
 In his earlier years, Neil enjoyed hunting, and later in life he 
discovered his love for gardening, woodworking, and baking. He was 
always very proud of his rhubarb cobblers and made sure to supply them 
for friends and loved ones no matter the occasion. And although he led a
 very busy life, he always made sure to make plenty of time for those he
 loved the most, his family and friends. He was a very loving and 
compassionate man that treated everyone equally. He cared for his 
family with an unmet love and was always checking in on them. 
 Neil was also a very gentle man and was kind to every animal and 
person he met. He certainly held a very special love for his little 
furry friend, Chip, who kept him company after his long days of hard 
work. He was truly devoted to his work, family, and all those around 
him, with a never-ending, never-tiring love.
 Neil is survived by his two loving daughters, Nalisha Cotter of 
Littleton CO, and Crystal (Ward) Craig of Russell; four grandchildren, 
Jennifer (Chad) Hopkins, Eric (Lauren) Cotter, Calder Craig and Kiefer 
Craig; two great-grandchildren, Aibhilin Hopkins and Malachi Hopkins; 
his honorary Czech granddaughter Kate (Martin) Martykanova and 
great-grandchildren Adeina and Hynek; and his loving companion Vivian 
Humphrey.
 He was preceded in death by his parents, Nicholas and Beatrice 
(Kaba) Fischer; wife, Doris Fischer; and his sister Jacqueline (Don) 
Prickett. 
 A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, May 28, 2021 at the First 
Christian Church in Plainville at 2 PM. A Visitation will be held on 
Thursday at the church from 2 PM until 8 PM with family receiving 
friends from 5PM until 7PM.

compassionate man that treated everyone equally. He cared for his 
family with an unmet love and was always checking in on them. 
 Neil was also a very gentle man and was kind to every animal and 
person he met. He certainly held a very special love for his little 
furry friend, Chip, who kept him company after his long days of hard 
work. He was truly devoted to his work, family, and all those around 
him, with a never-ending, never-tiring love.
 Neil is survived by his two loving daughters, Nalisha Cotter of 
Littleton CO, and Crystal (Ward) Craig of Russell; four grandchildren, 
Jennifer (Chad) Hopkins, Eric (Lauren) Cotter, Calder Craig and Kiefer 
Craig; two great-grandchildren, Aibhilin Hopkins and Malachi Hopkins; 
his honorary Czech granddaughter Kate (Martin) Martykanova and 
great-grandchildren Adeina and Hynek; and his loving companion Vivian 
Humphrey.
 He was preceded in death by his parents, Nicholas and Beatrice 
(Kaba) Fischer; wife, Doris Fischer; and his sister Jacqueline (Don) 
Prickett. 
 A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, May 28, 2021 at the First 
Christian Church in Plainville at 2 PM. A Visitation will be held on 
Thursday at the church from 2 PM until 8 PM with family receiving 
friends from 5PM until 7PM.

Neil Harmon Fischer

Howard was born January 28,1935 on a farmstead north of Arnold, 
Kansas to Everett and Jessie (Charles) Haug. Howard passed away 
peacefully in his sleep on May 22, 2021.

They moved to Gravette, Arkansas during his very young years then 
moved back to Kansas to a farm north of Arnold where he attended country
 school. He loved to spend his time riding his bicycle, hunting, and 
fishing.

He'd always bring his 'catch' home no matter how awful. From coyotes 
to skunks to raccoons and many other wild creatures, much to his 
mother’s chagrin!

Howard married Rosanna Herrman October 21, 1956 at Ness, Kansas. To 
this union were born three children; Diane, Howard Jr., and Philip. 
Howard and Rosanna lived all over southeast Kansas in their early years 
together before settling in Garden City where they stayed for over 40 
years. Howard worked as the Yard Supervisor at Cash and Carry Lumber for
 40 plus years and Rosanna worked as a nurse at St. Catherines' Hospital
 for 20 years. Howard loved to spend his weekends deer hunting at his 
cabin in Trego County.

Howard and Rosanna retired to Ransom Kansas where they spent their 
last 20+ years together. He spent his time in retirement out at his 
cabin, hunting, raising cattle, planting big gardens of potatoes, 
vegetables, wheat, cane, and pumpkins which he loved to share with all 
the town folks.

He also raised burros for several years and even won first place in the Old Settler's Parade with his burros.

Howard loved his family and fed them well. Howard took very good care
 of his wife Ann, he cooked for her and helped her with daily tasks. He 
was a generous and kindhearted man who always helped someone when they 
needed a helping hand. One of his many joys was feeding all his 
grandkids when they'd come to visit. He will always be remembered for 
his famous Angus beef cheeseburgers and home-made pancakes.

Howard is preceded in death by both parents, brothers Kenneth and Dallas Haug, son Phil and daughter-in-law Sheila Haug,

Howard is survived by his wife Rosanna of 64 years, daughter Diane 
and her husband Mitch Keim, son Howard (Sonny) Jr. and wife Cheryl Haug,
 9 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, and 4 great-great 
grandchildren.

Cremation has taken place and small private memorial for the family will follow at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be given to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Robert Lee Daniels, 79, passed away May 26, 2021, at Woodhaven Care 
Center, Ellinwood. He was born July 21, 1941, at Plainville, to Elmer 
&amp; Atha (Thomas) Daniels. He married Lisa Johnson June 19, 1993.

Robert was a brick layer for Tim Clothier. He loved fishing, hunting,
 spending time with his family, listening to his oldies music and 
drinking bud light.

Survivors include, his wife, Lisa Daniels of the home; a daughter, 
Kena Daniels; two sons, Lavert Johnson and Stephan Johnson; 
stepchildren, Deandrea, Joy, Jamie and Victoria; a brother, Floyd 
Daniels; he was beloved by several grandchildren, great grandchildren 
and a multitude of nieces and nephews. Also surviving is his first wife,
 Tiny and their children, Troy, Tracy and Teresa. He was preceded in 
death by his parents; his brothers, Theodore, Tommie, and Kenneth; and 
his sisters, Katherine, Della Anne, Josephine, and Anna Mae.

There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place. A 
celebration of life service will be held at a later date. Memorials have

Ila Mae Edwards, 89, longtime Bison, Kansas, resident passed away Monday, May 24, 2021, at Locust Grove Village, La Crosse, Kansas.

Ila Mae was born December 11, 1931, in Bison, Kansas, the daughter of Morton and Ella (Gisick) Lewis.&nbsp; She attended all 12 years of school in Bison, Kansas, and graduated from Bison High School, Bison, Kansas, in 1949.&nbsp;

She was united in marriage to Zane K. Edwards December 9, 1951, at the United Methodist Church, Bison, Kansas.&nbsp; He preceded her in death April 8, 2018.

The couple made their home on a farm north of Bison, Kansas, where Ila Mae was a homemaker and farm wife.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church, Bison, Kansas. &nbsp;

Ila Mae enjoyed hand quilting quilts, reading, and cooking for her family.

Survivors include:&nbsp; two sons, David Edwards (Nancy), Norman, Oklahoma, and Brian Edwards (Karen), Bison, Kansas; one daughter, Gay Graham (Ron), Colorado Springs, Colorado; 11 grandchildren; and 26 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one brother, Roy Lewis; and one sister, Betty Schleuning.

Larry Dinkel, 64, of Oakley, KS, left this earth on May 23, 2021. He was
 born October 30, 1956, in WaKeeney, KS, to Ralph and Rubina Dinkel, the
 3rd of four brothers. 
Larry grew up in Oakley, KS, attending St. Joseph’s Catholic Grade School and Oakley High School. 
In high school Larry enjoyed playing football and wrestling. He was a 
state medal winner of the 1974 state wrestling championship team. Later 
in life, Larry spent time following and supporting local athletics. He 
was a fan of numerous sports. Larry developed a passion for following 
the Kansas City Chiefs. He became a devoted season ticket holder, which 
embarked on a lifelong love of road trips to Arrowhead stadium. 
Larry went to work for Jim Mitten Trucking in 1978, as a driver. In 
1980, Larry and his father Ralph, purchased the company from Jim and 
Estelene Mitten. Then, in 1989, Larry and Dina bought out Ralph’s shares
 and continue to run the company today. 
On November 25, 1988, Larry married Dina Rae Wright. With this union, he became a dad to Darrin, Challis and Tye. 
Larry was involved in many organizations, including serving as President
 of the Kansas Motor Carriers Association and President of Oakley 
Country Club. 
Larry was preceded in death by his father Ralph and his mother Rubina. 
Larry will be deeply missed by his wife of 33 years, Dina; two sons, 
Darrin Wright, and friend Danelle Okeson, of Salina and Tye Wright, and 
wife Anne, of Douglass; daughter Challis Zerr, and husband Alan, of 
Oakley; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Doralyn Ann (Gasper) Dubbert, 95, Cawker City, KS, died December 4, 
2020, while under the care of the staff at the Hays Med-The University 
of Kansas Health Center, Hays, KS. &nbsp;Doralyn was born November 25, 1925, 
in Tipton, KS, the 12th child of Frank &amp; Mary Gasper.

Doralyn received her education at the Holy Corner Catholic School, 
Tipton, KS. &nbsp;Upon entry, it was necessary for her to learn English since
 only German was spoken at home. &nbsp;She was a very bright &amp; articulate
 individual, with an amazing memory unto her death. &nbsp;As a yong woman, 
she worked for several family members after her graduation, honing her 
cookig &amp; homemaking skills. &nbsp;Doralyn met her lifelong mate, Gerald 
C. Dubbert, in Tipton, KS. &nbsp;After 2 years of dating, they married on 
June 17, 1947. &nbsp;Together she &amp; Gerald undertook a farming, cattle, 
&amp; hog operation along Oak Creek in Mitchell County, KS, &amp; years 
later, in 1967, they moved to her current residence in rural Downs, KS, 
because of their displacement due to the construction of Waconda Lake 
Reservoir. &nbsp;Gerald &amp; Doralyn celebrated 52 years of marriage 
together prior to Gerald's passing in May 2000.

Doralyn's focus was always her beloved family. &nbsp;She was a devoted 
wife &amp; mother. &nbsp;As a homemaker/farm wife, she was an excellent cook 
&amp; seamstress. &nbsp;While she enjoyed baking and gardening, her loves 
were dancing, sewing, flower gardening, &amp; embroidery work. &nbsp;She 
never had an idol hand. &nbsp;Travel became a highlight later in life with 
Gerald as they journeyed to various Navy&nbsp;reunions across the country. 
&nbsp;Bringing her family together for gatherings was always her greatest 
priority!

Doralyn was a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church, Downs, KS. 
&nbsp;Her faith &amp; belief in God was the founding premise for how she 
lived life. &nbsp;She was involved in a variety of volunteer work activities,
 including assistance to the St. Mary's Altar Society, the Cancer 
Society, &amp; the VFW Auxiliary in Beloit, KS.&nbsp; She was often called 
upon to bake her famous pies for local funerals &amp; civic meetings.

Doralyn was truly a beautiful woman inside &amp; out. &nbsp;Her kind &amp;
 caring heart was evident to all that she met. &nbsp;Friends often commented 
on her sweet &amp; gentle spirit; &amp; likewise, complimented her on 
her meticulous appearance &amp; sense of style &amp; grace. &nbsp;She was 
truly a great listener while quietly maintaining a fun&nbsp;sense of humor!

The most appreciative of her life of strength &amp; sacrifice were 
her children, grandchildren &amp; great-grandchildren. &nbsp;She is survived 
by: Steve Dubbert, Cawker City, Rodney Dubbert (Renee), Johnstown, CO, 
Debby Loy (Wally), Barnard, Darla J. Fuertges (Don-deceased), Hays,

 Elwyn Wright, age 80, entered into rest on May 17, 2021, at Mount Joseph
 Senior Village, Concordia, Kansas.&nbsp;&nbsp;He was born February 10, 1941, in 
Jewell County, Kansas, to Glenn Ray and Ida Agnes (Miles) Wright.

Wright
 was a 1959 graduate of Ionia High School.&nbsp; He&nbsp;married Patricia “Pat” 
Eilers on May 25, 1962, in Hays, Kansas. She preceded him in death on 
October 7, 2016.

 received his Bachelor’s Degree in English from Fort Hays State 
University in 1963 and his School Administration Masters in 1968.&nbsp; 
He&nbsp;received a Masters from Kansas State University in Behavioral 
Disorders in 1988.

Wright
 started his teaching career in Oberlin, Kansas. He then taught in 
Mankato and moved to Summerfield, Kansas as a high school principal. 
Wright was a high school principal at Washington High School, 
Washington, Kansas. He then went to Clifton-Clyde High School, Clyde, 
Kansas. The Wright’s moved to El Paso, Tx. where he worked in Behavioral
 Education at DeValle High School. Wright retired from education after 
teaching Special Education at Garden City High School in Garden City, 
Kansas. In retirement, he and his wife moved to Montrose, Kansas before 
moving to Concordia.

He is survived by his two daughters, Kelli Wright of Stockton and Sammi Wright of Stuttgart, Germany.

He was preceded in death by his wife Pat, parents, Glenn and Ida and sisters, Merna Keeler (Nelson) and Ardeth McGinnis (Nolan).

Cremation
 has taken place and a Celebration of Life Service will be announced at a
 later time.&nbsp;&nbsp;Arrangements are under the care of Chaput-Buoy Funeral 
Home, Concordia.

Edgar E. Wright

Kenneth Ray Blough Jr., 85, died Thursday May 20, 2021, at Parklane 
Nursing home in Scott City, Kansas. He was born June 7, 1935, in Somerset
 County, Pennsylvania, the son of Kenneth Ray Sr. and Neva Dorothy 
(Rose) Blough. On June 12, 1959, Emily Lucille Stutzman, the pretty girl
 he had whistled at outside Ripple’s Ice Cream became his wife, a union 
of 61 years. 
Ray grew up in the mountains of Pennsylvania where he started his career
 as a truck driver. His first job being the driver of a 1955 97 
horsepower White 9000 pulling a 30 foot flatbed loaded down with silica 
firebrick for the steel mills; back when the push trucks with glowing 
red smokestacks were a persons only way up the mountainside. Ray had a 
strong work ethic, while working harvest he drove a cab-less gleaner 
combine with a 16 ft. draper head and his boss at the time kindly gave 
him a net to wear over his head with a fistful of cigars to keep the 
mosquitoes away. When the steel mills went on strike Ray just couldn’t 
stand the thought of sitting around, so he came to Kansas knowing he 
could find work, and a hard worker he was. Ray and Lucy settled in 
Shallow Water and after working for different farmers in the area he ran
 the Collingwood Grain, Inc. He then went to run the fleet of trucks out
 of the old Centry 21 refinery between Scott City and Garden City.These 
were also the days when the old stationary oil Derrick's of the Nun Oil 
Pool filled the sky's.When he needed more trucks to haul crude oil, this
 is when he met Gene Hibbs of GroendykeTransportation and became very 
good friends. In the early 80’s he and Lucy moved to Leoti, where they 
owned and operated Jack’s Restaurant. The two of them made quite the 
pair and became a highly sought after Trucking Duo. In Ray’s time as a 
driver with Groendyke he received an award for over one million miles 
safe driving and more so in his time with National Carriers not only did
 he receive an award for over three million miles safe driving he and 
Lucy were a Priority Team, often times dropping their own load to dead 
head across the US to finish a job for someone else and meet a scheduled
 deadline. 
Ray was a prayer warrior for and with his friends from Full Gospel Men's
 Fellowship, Prairie View Church at Friend, Ks and here in Leoti, 
Transports for Christ international and sometimes in the middle of the 
night. He had hosts of friends. He was true patriot and loved America 
having served in both the Army and National Guard. He was a friend to 
all and lived by the Ten Commandments maybe even adding in one or two of
 his own. He enjoyed music and would just sit and listen as Lucy played 
the organ in the back room. He loved his community and wanted to make 
sure the kids always had a safe place to be kids and have fun. Ray 
served not only as President but also is one of the 9 founders of the 
Wichita County Amusement Association that still to this day affords kids
 that opportunity. 
Ray is survived by his Wife- Lucy of the home; Children- Renee Louise 
(Rick) Gilmore of Leoti, Wilfred Wayne (Jennie Van Dyke) Blough of 
Nacogdoches, Texas, and Clifford Ray Blough of Leoti; Grandchildren- 
Benjamin (Kayln Roberts) Blough of San Antonio, Texas, Katherine Blough 
of Nacogdoches, Texas, and Jeff Gilmore of Terry, Mississippi; Brother- 
William Charles (Lois Kuchera) Blough of Yucca Valley, California; 
Sister-in-Law- Maria Blough of Gallop, New Mexico; Nieces and Nephews- 
Polly Blough of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Jenna Blough (Ryan Jones) of 
Los Angeles, California, Marcy (Kip) Dawkins of Richmond, Virginia; as 
well as three great nieces and nephews. 
Ray was preceded in death by his Parents, Brother- Alvin Blough, and Nephew- J.J. Blough. 
Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am Friday May 28, 2021 at the 
Christ Covenant Church in Leoti, Kansas with Jeff Crist officiating. 
Following the funeral service dinner will be served from the ladies of 
the church all are welcome to stay.

Gloria Ann Korpi, age 70, of WaKeeney, 
KS died Sunday, May 23, 2021, at Trego-Lemke Memorial Hospital Long Term 
Care - WaKeeney. She was born in WaKeeney on September 27, 1950.

Gloria Ann is preceded by her parents 
Michael and Armella Dreiling and brother Michael Dreiling, all of

Donald Eugene “Don” Deines, born February 11, 1930, in Hays, Kansas, 
son of Palmer E. and Caroline (Massier) Deines, departed this life on 
May 25, 2021, at Trego County Lemke Memorial Hospital Long Term Care, in
 WaKeeney, Kansas at the age of 91.

Donald was baptized February 23, 1930 at Christ Lutheran Church, 
Ellis, Kansas, and was confirmed into the membership of Bethlehem 
Lutheran Church in WaKeeney on February 3, 1952, where he has been an 
active member. Donald served on the church council for 6 years and was a
 sponsor for the Senior High Youth Group at the church for 4 years. 
Donald attended rural Trego Elementary schools and was a 1949 graduate 
of the Trego Community High School, participating in all sports during 
his high school years.

On April 14, 1953, Donald was united in marriage to Helen Caroline 
Zachman at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Ellis. They made their home on 
the farm 1 ½ miles southeast of WaKeeney. To this union one son, Dean 
Alan, was born.

Donald was a farmer and stockman, also for many years employed with 
Deines Construction Company of WaKeeney, helping to construct several 
churches, businesses, and homes, locally and in the nearby communities.

Donald loved the outdoors and spent many hours fishing, hunting and 
trapping. He also was an avid sports fan, especially football and 
baseball, keeping up with all teams. Donald played baseball and 
basketball on the town teams for many years after his school years.

Donald’s biggest pride and joy are his son Dean and daughter-in-law 
Christine. Donald was preceded in death by his parents, Palmer E. and 
Caroline Deines; and sister Eleanor Swank.

Donald is survived by his wife Helen; son Dean (Christine) Deines of 
Austin, Texas; his twin sister Dona Smith of Great Bend, Kansas; his 
many relatives and friends and “my Brenda.”

Visitation will be from 5-7:00 PM, Friday, May 28, 2021, at Schmitt Funeral Home, WaKeeney.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 AM, Saturday, May 29, 2021, at 
Bethlehem Lutheran Church, WaKeeney, with committal taking place at 
WaKeeney City cemetery.

Norman “Brandy” Lee Brandyberry, 88, was born July 5, 1932, in Rural 
Graham County south of Hill City on the old family farmstead to Walter 
Abraham and Virginia Pearl (Knouf) Brandyberry. He passed away 
peacefully at the Graham County Hospital May 23, 2021. 
 Norman grew up in Southeast Graham County and started school in a 
one room schoolhouse. Norman’s fondest memory of that early time was 
when the teacher drove her new car to the school, and he experienced his
 first car ride. Norman graduated from Hill City High School in 1950, 
which was in the old three-story building. Many times, his friend Verlin
 Parks (nicknamed Goose) would literally pick him up and say, “Let’s go 
to class." He then proceeded to carry him up the stairs to class. 
 Following graduation, Norman worked at the Wanker Gas Station where 
he met Phyllis Maupin. They were married May 31, 1952. To this union 
seven children were born: Neal, Bonny, Darla, Penny, Lea Ann, Tim, and 
Jeanette. Norman worked as a farmhand, first for his father-in-law Mutt 
Maupin, and then Lew Ninemire and with his Uncle Frank Brandyberry. He 
also worked for Irv Hardman for many years in the Graham and Norton 
County areas. Norman and Phyllis raised their family on the farm and 
taught them about farming and livestock. All of them still have a 
passion for that life today. 
 In the early 1980s, Norman and Phyllis moved the household to Hill 
City where he went to work for the City of Hill City as Water 
Superintendent. He oversaw both the water and wastewater plants. In 
addition to his regular duties, he maintained the Hill City swimming 
pool during the summer months. 
 When Norman retired in 1995, he and Phyllis moved to Derby, Kansas to be near their son Tim and family. Here Norman helped with 
 Tim’s custom hay and cattle operation. He truly enjoyed this work 
until his failing health interfered. Consequently, Norman and Phyllis 
moved 
 back to Graham County where Norman was surrounded by family and 
friends. He always looked forward to frequent visits with his 
grandchildren. However, he could manage to sneak in a nap in spite of 
all the noise and chatter around him. Norman loved his family and was 
very proud of them. He also had a sincere fondness for all his 
critters, both small and large. 
 Norman is predeceased by his parents, W. A. “Cot” and Virginia 
(Knouf) Brandyberry; one brother Ardon Brandyberry; two sisters: Vada 
Tallman and Elaine Brandyberry. 
 Norman is survived by his loving wife of 68 years Phyllis Elaine 
(Maupin) Brandyberry; his two sons: Neal (Gail) Brandyberry of 
Republican City, Nebraska and Timothy (Jacki) Brandyberry of Derby; five
 daughters: Bonny (Ed) Jordon of Lenora; Darla (Dan) Goodrow of 
Ellinwood, Penny (the late Lyndall) Turner of Bluehill, Nebraska, Lea 
Ann (Brett) Sharpe of McPherson, and Jeanette (Larry) Mueller of 
Wichita; 28 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren and two great- great 
grandchildren.
