Douglas A. Beck

Douglas A. Beck, 61, of Russell, Kansas, passed away Monday, August 9, 2021 at the Russell Regional Hospital.

Doug was born October 20, 1959, in Hays, Kansas.  He was one of four children born to Wesley Eugene and Katherine N. (Dinkel) Beck.  He grew up in Russell and was a Class of 77 graduate of Russell High School.

Doug has done a variety of things throughout his life.  He worked in the oilfields as a roustabout.  He was a designer for King Of The Road.  He worked on pipelines and his latest employment was with USD 407 as a Custodian and in the maintenance department.  He had an artistic side to him that enjoyed drawing race cars.  He was a racing enthusiast that enjoyed attending races in Topeka.  Him and his big sister always had a great time gambling.  He was well known for his grilling and smoking abilities.  He loved spending time with his family and friends, especially his nieces, nephews and great niece.

Doug’s surviving family include his brother, Gerry Beck (Melanie) of Olathe, Kansas; sisters, Paula Shoemaker (Calvin) and Dianne Crawford of Victoria, Kansas; nieces, Madison Beck of Lawrence, Kansas, Julie Dawn of Seattle, Washington and McKayla Parton of Victoria, Kansas; nephew, Noah Beck of Olathe, Kansas; and great niece, Emma Parton of Victoria, Kansas.  He was preceded in death by his parents.

A memorial service to celebrate Doug’s life will be held at a later date.  Cremation has been selected by the family.  Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary of Russell, Kansas, is in charge of the memorial arrangements.
