Sharon Kay Wilson 76, of Edmond, Oklahoma went to be with the Lord on Monday, July 6, 2024. She was born on October 27, 1947 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Sharon loved shopping and antiquing. She was a great homemaker and loved decorating her house, but also loved working for the highway patrol and the Department of Agriculture. She also loved spending time with her friends and family and making them smile. She had a strong faith and love for the Lord and always prayed for others. Sharon was married to Clifford Wilson for 30 years. She was preceded in death by her Mother, Harriett Pearl Biby, and her Father, Rex Biby. She is survived by her husband, Clifford Wilson; son, Derek Fuller, two granddaughters, Ashleigh Hargis and husband Geoff Hargis, and Chelon Clem, and two great-granddaughters, Ryleigh and Reagan; One sister, Dixie Thederan and husband, Carl Thederan; Two nieces, Danna Tanner and husband, Tim Tanner and Shelly Grigsby, and husband, Mike Grisby; Along with several other relatives and family.

Maribeth Ann (Middleton) Delehoy, aged 79, passed away Wednesday July 3, 2024, at Citizens Medical Center in Colby, KS.

Maribeth was born May 16, 1945, to Ernest and Waneta (Roberts) Middleton. She was the second of four children including older sister Glenda (Bob) Seibert and younger siblings, Dale Middleton (Deb Johnson) and Gayle (Fred) Allen. The four of them were quite close and created many cherished memories together as kids and continued building those memories as they became adults and started raising families of their own. The four siblings were blessed to be able to raise their children in the same town for many years. After her sisters passed away Maribeth wanted to spend as much time as possible with her brother Dale.

Maribeth was a graduate of Goodland High School and attended Brown Mackey College in Salina KS. On June 14, 1964, she married the love of her life Gerold Delehoy. To this union four children were born, David (Sheila), of Brockton MA, Dana (Tim) Moss, of Selden KS, Douglas Delehoy, of Tuscaloosa AL, and Dustin Delehoy, formerly of Paris IL. She also considered Dana's best friend Sheila Williams a bonus daughter.

Maribeth was a loving mother to 4 children, grandmother to 13 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren, a sister, an aunt to several nieces, nephews, and a friend to many throughout her life. She will be missed by those who knew her best.Some of Maribeth’s interests were going to the casinos, crossword/ crostyx puzzles, Native American history, and going to the movies. Maribeth enjoyed all genres of music and loved to dance. Some of her daughter's fondest memories of her were remembering how she used to dance in the house while listening to records. She and her daughter went on several “adventures” together as well as concerts and plays.

Maribeth also enjoyed golfing and painting, even though she didn't feel she was good at either one, she always made the most out of the time she spent doing the things she loved by creating as much laughter as she possibly could doing them. Many stories have been told about golf games with her sons and grandson Nathan. Her niece Tammy took her to painting classes at the Hays public library, oh the stories and belly laughs that have come from those classes and Maribeth’s “Nefertiti’s” cat painting are endless. She could “hang with the best of them” she used to say jokingly.

Debating or discussing politics with people was also something she liked to do, especially so with her two youngest sons. She spoke often of her trips to go visit her oldest son and the jokes he played on her and what a wonderful host he was.

To say Maribeth was extremely proud of the kind of people her children became and the families they have is truly an understatement. Maribeth repeatedly said how grateful and blessed she was to have the children she had and that she “didn't know what she would have ever done without them.”Her 13 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren were honestly her prized possessions. She enjoyed spending time with them playing games, teasing them and creating laughs galore with each of them. Her great-grandchildren became a whole new generation to share her life and love with and she tried to show that in as many ways as she could with the miles between them but mentioned many times how she “wished she lived closer to them all so they could get to know her better.”Maribeth was also very close to her many nieces and nephews as she watched them all grow into adults. Maribeth always made time for anyone in the family who needed a shoulder to cry on, advice, or just to have someone to hang with when needed.

She was preceded in death by her great grandparents Robert and Pauline Roberts; her parents Ernest and Waneta Middleton; her forever love Gerold Delehoy; her sisters, Glenda Seibert and Gayle Allen; and her youngest son Dustin Delehoy.

Shirley Jean Svaty, 88, of Lucas, Kansas, passed away Thursday, July 4, 2024.

Shirley was born on January 28, 1936, on the family farm in Lincoln County. She was one of eight children born to Clyde and Velma (Yarnell) Mettlen. She grew up in the Lucas area. She attended Lucas High School.

Shirley was united in marriage to Melvin Svaty on August 24, 1952, in Lucas. Their union resulted in 4 children, Lori, Lynn, Melvin, and Michael.

Shirley became a homemaker on her and Melvin’s farm north of Lucas, but, she was so much more than a homemaker. She was an amazing quilter, she taught herself to paint pictures and was always designing something for her husband Melvin or son Michael to build. After her children were grown and left home Shirley ventured off the farm to work at many of the businesses in Lucas, including but not limited to; Lucas Nursing Home, K-18 Cafe, Luray-Lucas Elementary School, Troy’s Grocery, Hay Plant, and others. Shirley was known for being a hard worker, rarely did you see her sitting and doing nothing.

Shirley’s surviving family includes; daughters Lori (Gary)Ward of Lucas, and Lynn (Gene) Angel of Paradise, son Michael (Stephanie) Svaty of Sylvan Grove; sisters Bernadine Minear Lincoln, Joan (Tony) Farndale San Carlos, California, brother Larry (Verna) Mettlen Lincoln, 9 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, nieces &amp; nephews.

Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Merle Svaty, son Melvin Merle Svaty Jr., Son in Law Gary Gene Ward, grandson Joshua Ward, brothers, William Alexander Mettlen, Billy Jack Mettlen, Max Robert Mettlen, Delmar Mettlen, and her parents.

Laura Marie (Waechter) Heeke, 94, born in Kearny County, Kansas on Feb. 3rd, 1930 to Leland and Della (Elliott) Waechter, went to be with our Lord on June 25th, 2024. She grew up in the Menno Community south of Lakin, Kansas in Kearny County with her 3 brothers, Walter, Carl and Harold and her sister Freda. She attended primary school in a one-room school house nearby, St. John’s High School Academy in Winfield, Kansas, graduating in 1947, and St. John’s College.

On September 7th, 1950, she married Merle Heeke. She and Merle made their home in Lakin, Kansas then moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado in 1960, where they raised their eight children.

She is survived by seven daughters, Jeanne (Lyndon) Lange of Victoria, Texas, Barbara (Steve) Hawkinson, Carol (John) O’Donnell of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Ellen (Gregg) Graham of Monument, Colorado, Janeece Heeke of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Janelle (Eddie) Neuman of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Beverly (Kevin) Scott of Monument, Colorado; her daughter-in-law Linda (Heeke) Rahjes of Kensington, Kansas, her brother Harold Waechter of Garden City, Kansas, 14 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, her son, Dennis Heeke, and sons-in-law Steve Hawkinson and Eddie Neuman; brothers, Walter Waechter and Carl Waechter, and sister Freda McVey. As a homemaker, she spent many years being involved in her husband’s and children’s lives as a wonderful cook, an expert pie-baker, a 4-H leader, a seamstress, a driving instructor, and so much more.

Her patience, kindness and friendliness welcomed anyone into her home as if they were family. She was very intelligent and had a passion for education which she instilled in her children. She and Merle spent many summers traveling with the family and eventually on their own, making it to all 50 states. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren and they loved her sense of humor and yummy breakfast!

She was a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church, where services will be held. Graveside Service will be at 11:00 AM Saturday July 13, 2024 Lakin Cemetery in Lakin, Kansas with Rev Peter Tran officiating. Friends may call from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM Saturday prior to the service at Garnand Funeral Home in Lakin. Karen S. (Sander) Barnes

James P. Grossardt, D.V.M. (age 76) of Siloam Springs, Arkansas died Wednesday, July 3, 2024.

Jim was born December 26, 1947 in Great Bend, Kansas, the son of Harold C. and Vivian E. (Radenberg) Grossardt. He graduated from Claflin High School in 1965 and later earned his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 1971 from Kansas State University.

Jim served as rank of Captain in the Army Veterinary Corp from 1971 to 1973, stationed at Fort Snelling, St. Paul, Minnesota

On May 28, 1972, he married Linda A Hoffman in Lawrence, Kansas. A daughter Jill and son Mark were born to this union.

In 1974, Jim purchased a mixed animal veterinary practice in Minden, Nebraska and was a solo practitioner for forty years. He was a member of AVMA and NVMA. Jim served on the Minden school board for eight years as well as serving on the Minden Opera House board. His love of music was expressed through the Minden Community Players where he performed in many musical productions. He was a member of the Minden and Siloam Springs Rotary clubs for over 45 years.

Jim was an active member of the United Methodist Church in Minden, Nebraska and the New Life Church in Kearney, Nebraska. Throughout this time, he served as a lay pastor, board member, and 3rd grade and senior high Sunday school teacher. He served as an AWANA leader, with Walk to Emmaus retreats, and during Summer camps at Camp Comeca.

Upon retirement, volunteering made his life rich. He was a volunteer at Siloam Springs Regional Hospital Auxiliary in the material management department as well as New Life Ranch and Siloam's community Joy Choir. Jim was a member of New Life Church in Siloam Springs, Arkansas, where he enjoyed serving on the advisory board, as a small group leader, usher team leader, coffee connection host, and cast member in the Easter drama

He graduated from Claflin High School in 1965 and later earned his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 1971 from Kansas State University.Jim served as rank of Captain in the Army Veterinary Corp from 1971 to 1973, stationed at Fort Snelling, St. Paul, MinnesotaOn May 28, 1972, he married Linda A Hoffman in Lawrence, Kansas. A daughter Jill and son Mark were born to this union.In 1974, Jim purchased a mixed animal veterinary practice in Minden, Nebraska and was a solo practitioner for forty years. He was a member of AVMA and NVMA. Jim served on the Minden school board for eight years as well as serving on the Minden Opera House board. His love of music was expressed through the Minden Community Players where he performed in many musical productions. He was a member of the Minden and Siloam Springs Rotary clubs for over 45 years.Jim was an active member of the United Methodist Church in Minden, Nebraska and the New Life Church in Kearney, Nebraska. Throughout this time, he served as a lay pastor, board member, and 3rd grade and senior high Sunday school teacher. He served as an AWANA leader, with Walk to Emmaus retreats, and during Summer camps at Camp Comeca.Upon retirement, volunteering made his life rich. He was a volunteer at Siloam Springs Regional Hospital Auxiliary in the material management department as well as New Life Ranch and Siloam's community Joy Choir. Steven Wayne Hanhardt, 74, Great Bend, passed away Thursday, July 4, 2024, at the University of Kansas Health System – Great Bend Campus, Great Bend.

Steven was born May 14, 1950, in Great Bend, the son of Kenneth E. and Delores J. (Michaelis) Hanhardt. He was a lifelong resident of Rush County, Kansas, and Barton County.

In his early childhood, he was a member of the Baptist Church, Bison.

Steven enjoyed music, especially sing-a-longs. He loved the social activities he experienced through Sunflower Diversified Services, Great Bend.

Survivors include: his mother, Delores J. Hanhardt, La Crosse; his sister, Debra Wilson (Craig), Sedalia, Colo.; a nephew, Cody Wilson, and family, Highlands Ranch, Colo.; a niece, Kelly Lambert, and family, Centennial, Colo. Other family members include a cousin, Ron Hanhardt (Juanita), Otis; an aunt, Nathalie Hanhardt, and cousin, Lisa Wabel, both of Grand Junction, Colo.; an aunt, Shirley Roth, LaSalle, Colo.; and an uncle, Larry Michaelis, Salina.

Norma Jean Heiney, age 89, passed away on Thursday, July 4, 2024, at the Park Lane Nursing Home in Scott City, Kansas. She was born on February 22, 1935, in Garnett, Kansas, the daughter of Theodore and Benita Brown Williamson. A resident of Scott City, Kansas since 2000 moving from Ford, Kansas, she was a homemaker.

In 1953, she married Carl A. Simons in Garnett, Kansas. He passed away on May 25, 1976, in Leoti, Kansas. She then married James W. Heiney in 1978 in Las Vegas, Nevada. He passed away on February 8, 1999, in Dodge City, Kansas.&nbsp;

Survivors include her Two Daughters - Kay Todd of Scott City, Kansas, and C.J. Davis of Scott City, Kansas, and Eight Grandchildren.&nbsp;

She was preceded in death by her Parents, Two Husbands, and Two Grandsons - Brett Todd &amp; Jared Bishop.&nbsp;

She was born February 6, 1953 in Nashville, Kansas, the daughter of Carl August and Florence Evelyn Stillwell Johnson.

A lifetime area resident she worked at Larned Juvenile Correctional Facility for thirty-two years. &nbsp;She was of the Christian faith and attended Pawnee Rock Christian Church. She enjoyed arm wrestling, pool tournaments, bowling in leagues and tournaments, playing softball, and spending time at the lake. Her family was her life, she did everything for them. She also took care of her mother and truly loved and cared for her pets.

In January 1972 she married Clifford Wesley Belt; they later divorced.

Survivors include: three sons, Brian (Leila) Belt, Milton, Florida, Ryan (Julie) Belt, Larned, Austin Bryce Belt, Pawnee Rock; daughter, Heather Dawn Hunt, Great Bend; two brothers, John (Diane Morse) Johnson, Great Bend, Howard (Carmen) Johnson, Claflin; four sisters, Carla (Michael) Nutting, Crosby, Texas, Sharla Woods, Larned, Marla C. LaVone Hoss, 97, passed away on July 1, 2024, at the Cedar Village Care Center in Ness City, Kansas. &nbsp;She was born on December 6, 1926, in Dighton, Kansas, the daughter of Emile and Mabel (Gray) Dutoit.

LaVone was a homemaker and a bookkeeper and was secretary of the United Methodist Church in Dighton for many years. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and the Lane County Historical Museum where she volunteered as a worker. She volunteered at the Joy Center. She married Cecil Richards on September 1, 1945, in Dodge City, Kansas. To this union two children were born, Carol and Terry Richards. Cecil passed away June 2, 1990. She later married Stanley Hoss on November 25, 2000, in Ness City. He passed away on August 24, 2019.

Survivors include her daughter Carol Richards of Shell Knob, MO; stepchildren: Don (Rayetta) Hoss, Peggy Bain, Sandy Reinert (David), Cindy Hawkinson (Jay), Hal Hoss (Wendy) all of Ness City, Mari Ann O’Neill (Steve) of Brighton, Colorado, Marlinda Henry (LD) of Ensign, Debbie Mitchell (Rusty) of Meriden, Tim Hoss (Rhonda) of Pratt, and Janet Dennis (Ken) of Dighton; 31 grandchildren; 50 great-grandchildren. &nbsp;She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, and son, Terry Richard; brother, Buck Dutoit (Delores) and three sisters, Linda Lou Dutoit, Beverly Ann Dutoit, and Ramona See.

Shayne Patrick Theobald son of Kelley Theobald and Marilyn (Goscha) Schrum was born March 27th, 1966 in Lincoln, Nebraska. Shayne passed away at his home in Glendale, Arizona on June 21st, 2024 at the age of 58.

Shayne attended elementary and junior high school at Norton, Kansas and graduated high school from Phillipsburg High School in Phillipsburg, Kansas. Shayne obtained his accounting degree from Fort Hays State University. After graduation Shayne moved to Arizona and became a partner at Schumann, Adriana and Company.

Shayne enjoyed hunting with friends and cousins in New Mexico even though these excursions often ended in just elk sightings. Shayne spent many Labor Days in Norton playing golf with his stepdad, brother, and brother in law. During these golf outings, Shayne was best known as the ball hunter. His nieces and nephews have cherished memories of him making them squeal during a competitive game of Farkle. Shayne cheered on the Kansas City Chiefs. He was an avid fan and often watched the games multiple times.

Survivors include: his mother Marilyn Schrum and stepdad Bill Schrum, Phillipsburg, KS; stepmom Pat Theobald, Belaire, Michigan; brothers Curt Theobald, Topeka, Ks; Brett, and wife, Jessica Schrum, Wichita, KS; sisters Kayla, and husband, JR Mendoza, Plains, KS; Tricia Harvey, Belaire, Michigan; 11 nieces and nephews and 6 grandnephews/grandnieces; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and close friends.

Shayne Patrick Theobald

Donald “Don” Victor Peterka, of Wilson, KS, passed away on July 1, 2024, at Hays Medical Center in Hays, KS, at the age of 83. He was born at his childhood home on September 3, 1940, to Victor and Theresa (Farney) Peterka in Lincoln County, KS. He married Alice Schmidtberger on June 4, 1966, at St. Fidelis Catholic Church in Victoria, KS.

Don grew up in Wilson and attended the Margaret one room schoolhouse through elementary school. He graduated from Wilson High School in 1958. He then served in the U.S. Army from 1958 to 1962. Don worked as a welder for the Ellsworth Highway Department, farmer, and in the oil field for a few years.

Don was an American Legion Commander for 7 years and led the rosary at the nursing home monthly for 14 years for St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church. He enjoyed track and field, KU Jayhawks, and helping with Wilson Boy Scouts for many years.

Don is survived by his wife, Alice of the home in Wilson; son, Joe (Ann) Peterka of Mansfield, TX; siblings, JoAnn Steinle of Wilson, Loyola Anschutz of Wilson, and Kathleen Merkel of Russell, KS; two grandchildren, Allison and Kate; and one great-grandson, Beau.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Victor and Theresa; and siblings, Elaine Shaw and Eugene Peterka.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, July 6, 2024, at 10AM at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Wilson. Burial will follow at the St. Wenceslaus Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday, 6-8PM with a Vigil and Rosary Service at 7PM at the funeral home in Wilson.

Donald “Don” Victor Peterka, of Wilson, KS, passed away on July 1, 2024, at Hays Medical Center in Hays, KS, at the age of 83. He was born at his childhood home on September 3, 1940, to Victor and Theresa (Farney) Peterka in Lincoln County, KS. He married Alice Schmidtberger on June 4, 1966, at St. Fidelis Catholic Church in Victoria, KS.Don grew up in Wilson and attended the Margaret one room schoolhouse through elementary school. He graduated from Wilson High School in 1958. He then served in the U.S. Army from 1958 to 1962. Don worked as a welder for the Ellsworth Highway Department, farmer, and in the oil field for a few years.Don was an American Legion Commander for 7 years and led the rosary at the nursing home monthly for 14 years for St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church. He enjoyed track and field, KU Jayhawks, and helping with Wilson Boy Scouts for many years.Don is survived by his wife, Alice of the home in Wilson; son, Joe (Ann) Peterka of Mansfield, TX; siblings, JoAnn Steinle of Wilson, Loyola Anschutz of Wilson, and Kathleen Merkel of Russell, KS; two grandchildren, Allison and Kate; and one great-grandson, Beau.He is preceded in death by his parents, Victor and Theresa; and siblings, Elaine Shaw and Eugene Peterka.A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, July 6, 2024, at 10AM at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Wilson. Burial will follow at the St. Wenceslaus Catholic Cemetery. Paul W. Baird, a resident of Logan, Kansas, passed away at his home on June 29, 2024, at the age of 64.

Paul was born on July 7, 1959, in Denver, Colorado, to Raymond Dick and Lucille Evelyn (Johns) Baird. He graduated from Alameda High School in Lakewood, Colorado, and later attended Colorado University.

Paul dedicated much of his life to the automotive industry. Later, he owned and operated Chubb’s Bar and Grill in Logan, Kansas, until its closure. In his free time, he enjoyed playing golf.

Paul is survived by his son, Brandon Baird of Thornton, Colorado; his daughter, Destiny Thompson, and her husband, Nick, of Broomfield, Colorado; his granddaughter, Reise Thompson; his brother, Rex Baird, and wife Dani of Pueblo, Colorado; his sister, Rita Williams and husband, Tim of Westminster, Colorado; along with a niece Racquel.

Cremation was chosen. &nbsp;The family will have a private celebration of life to honor him.

Dennis Weese, age 66 of Kansas City, Missouri died July 1, 2024, at his home in Kansas City. He was born on July 26, 1957, in Smith Center, KS to Billy and Janice (Hillman) Weese. He attended and graduated from Osborne High School and attended Colby Community College.

Dennis was an on-air radio personality for most of his life, working as a DJ for many stations including, Y-102 and 99-KG. As a young man he was the manager of the Drive Inn Theater in Beloit, KS and later in his life his career shifted into Information Technology where he enjoyed tinkering with computers and did so full time until the last few months of his life.

Dennis is survived by his son and daughter: Tucker Weese of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Danielle Habiger of Lebanon, Ohio. Brother and sister: Russtin (Brenda) Weese of Munjor, Kansas and Pennie (Norman) Romero of Russell, Kansas, as well as five grandchildren.

He is preceded by his parents, Billy and Janice.

Graveside services will be held July 19, 2024, at 11:00 AM in the Osborne City Cemetery, Osborne, Kansas.

<a>Donna Sue (Schoenthaler) Scheele passed away June 30, 2024 at Good Shepherd Hospice house in Manhattan, KS at the age of 56.&nbsp; She was born October 17, 1967 in Hays, KS to Oscar &amp; JoAnn Schoenthaler.&nbsp; She was raised on the family farm and graduated salutatorian from Ellis High School in 1986. She then attended Kansas State University and graduated in 1990.&nbsp; She was united in marriage to Steve Scheele on May 19, 1990 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ellis.&nbsp; Their marriage bore 3 children and they were later divorced.</a>

Donna spent 25 years working at United Bank &amp; Trust. She held multiple positions and was vital to the day to day operations. She finished her career as Community Bank President of the Manhattan branch. She was also elected President of the Downtown Manhattan Inc. Board of Directors and loved contributing to her community.

She was a lover of nature and the outdoors. An avid bird watcher, she spent many weekend mornings scouting out the birds on her back porch. She enjoyed hiking the Konza prairie and other trails of Kansas. She and her family and friends took many trips to Colorado to explore the mountains. She was also an avid kayaker.

When she wasn’t outdoors, Donna could be found helping her family and friends in any way she could, especially if the task called for something creative. She could always be counted on for planning a birthday party or decorating a cake, sewing a Halloween costume from scratch, or building swing sets and loft beds. She had a special love of spending time with her three granddaughters and shared many of her creative talents with them whenever they were visiting.

She is survived by her children Damen (Erica) Scheele and Jensen (Jason) Scheele-Foster; grandchildren Aubree, Lily, and Riley; mother JoAnn Schoenthaler; siblings Doug (Donna) Schoenthaler, Arthur (Sandy) Schoenthaler, Mary Jo (John) Walz, and Peggy (Troy) Rupp as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by father Oscar, brothers James &amp; Mark, and infant son Tyler.

The family will greet friends during a visitation from 6:00 until 8:0p.m. Friday July 5, 2024 at the Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Home in Manhattan.

Funeral Services will be at 10:00a.m. Saturday July 6, 2024 at the Westview Community Church in Manhattan.&nbsp; Graveside services will be at 4:00p.m. Saturday at the Mount Hope Cemetery in Ellis, Kansas.

Donna Sue (Schoenthaler) Scheele 

It is with utter sadness that we announce the passing of David William Liudahl of Olathe Kansas on June 28, 2024, at the age of 51. Dave was born in Bremerton, Washington on May 22, 1973, and moved with his family to Colby, Kansas at three years old. Dave grew up in a loving home and often recounted his childhood memories, always with such fondness. He attended Colby High School where he enjoyed several sports, including his two favorite - basketball and golf. Though Dave was of an incredibly humble nature, he did not hesitate to remind his friends and family that he had won “Colby High School Athlete of the Year” should they forget to mention it.&nbsp;

Dave continued his education by earning an undergraduate degree at his beloved University of Kansas before continuing to earn his master’s degree in physical therapy at Wichita State University in 1999. Dave’s career began in Osborne, Kansas and soon after he moved to Hays, Kansas and eventually served as the Director of Rehab for The Center for Health Improvement at Hays Medical Center. He was never afraid to take a new path in his career which led to Dave opening an outpatient Physical Therapy clinic in Gardner, Kansas in 2008. Eventually, Dave’s career led him to home health physical therapy in western Kansas then the Kansas City area. Dave was a dedicated physical therapist who cared deeply for his patients. The Kansas City Regional Home Care Association recognized this as they presented him with the “Outstanding Associate Award” in 2019.

While at KU, Dave and his wife, Jaime, met and fell in love. They were married in Colby, Kansas on April 8, 2000. They began their family in Hays, Kansas and grew to a family of five with the addition of twins, Chloe and Carter, in 2003, and Coleman in 2006. Dave’s greatest joy in life was his family. He beamed with joy and love for his family and never hesitated to put them first. His entire family was adorned by his inherent goodness, incredibly kind spirit, amazing wit, and enduring patience. Dave left his family with an abundance of love, as well as countless dad jokes for which his family will never learn the actual punchline. He loved to barbecue, while wearing any one of his numerous ‘Dad’ shirts and listening to his treasured KC Royals, KC Chiefs, or KU Basketball. He was always perfecting his craft, often making enough food to feed the entire street, though we did have to wait hours for those 3-2-1 ribs. He loved to fish, to golf and to hunt with his dogs that he loved so much. Dave took up a new favorite hobby of bowling just a short while ago, and as a testament to his natural athleticism, bowled a perfect 300. Above all, Dave was a man of faith, and his unwavering faithfulness guided him as he guided his family and friends.

Dave is survived by his wife Jaime Liudahl, his sons Carter and Coleman, and his daughter Chloe; his mother, Sara (Newman) Liudahl, and father, Dr. Wayne Liudahl; his two brothers and their wives, Aaron and Karen (Weishaar) Liudahl, and Eric and Liz (Peters) Liudahl;&nbsp; Father and mother-in-law Denny and Janet (Pierce) Pfeifer, his brothers-in-laws and their wives, Dustin and Amber (Stephens) Pfeifer, Dexter and Carissa (Wickham) Pfeifer, and David and Olivia Dreiling. His sister-in-law Jara Pfeifer; his nieces, Abby Liudahl, Ashlyn Liudahl, Nora Pfeifer, Demitria Pfeifer, Dezmai Pfeifer, Journee Chambers, Anna and Bella Pfeifer, Maya Pfeifer, Isabella Dreiling, Jasmine Crha, Kianna (Dreiling) Hoskins; his nephews, Austin Liudahl, Conner Liudahl, Dakota Pfeifer, Andre Pfeifer, Anthony Pfeifer, and a host of family and friends.&nbsp;Dave was a genuinely kind, good man who was loved boundlessly by his family. David William Liudahl

Mary Lou (Weaver) Frederick, daughter of Paul and Mildred (Kindel) Weaver, was born March 3, 1952 in Concordia, Kansas, and passed away June 28, 2024, at the Graham County Hospital in Hill City, Kansas, at the age of 72.

Mary Lou grew up in Salina and graduated from Salina Central High School. During her childhood, her parents divorced. Her mother later remarried Lee Pearce. She was blessed to have two fathers in her life who loved her very much. Sadly, her father, Paul, passed away the day after her 16th birthday. On January 1, 1970, Mary Lou married Robert Frederick and to this union two children were born: Angela Kay and Robby William. The family moved to Colorado where she worked as a personal assistant for Harry and Lucielle Trueblood for over 30 years.

While living in Colorado, Mary Lou and Robert welcomed Robert's youngest brother, Tommy, into their home. Growing up Mary Lou loved spending her summers with her Uncle Billy and Aunt Bernadine in Aurora, Kansas, the place she called home. Mary Lou was very involved with the VFW in Thornton, Colorado. She was also very active in the American Legion in Firestone, Colorado, and served as a Past President of the American Legion Women’s Auxiliary Post 1278. Her husband, Robert, served in the United States Air Force during Vietnam. She was a proud supporter of all our military men and woman. In her leisure time Mary Lou enjoyed camping and fishing in the Colorado mountains. After retirement, Robert and Mary Lou moved to Penokee, Kansas where they lived for several years. Her declining health required a move to Dawson Place in Hill City, residing there until her death.

Mary Lou was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Robby; one grandson, Aaron; parents-in-law, John and Lois Frederick; sister-in-law, Pat; one nephew, Kevin; one uncle, Billy; and one aunt, Bernadine. Survivors include: her husband, Robert, Logan; one daughter, Angela, and her significant other, John, Eckley, Colorado; three grandchildren: Nathalia, and her husband, Coy Leggett, Logan; Lilhiana Cruz, Charleston, South Carolina; and Nathaniel Cruz, Logan; three sisters: Charlene, and her husband, Erwin Panzer, Florida; Tammy Weaver and Janice Truman both of Arizona; one brother, Randy Weaver of Arizona; four brothers-in-law: Ronny Frederick, Salina, Donny Frederick, Hill City, Jim, and wife, Laura Frederick, Sylvan Grove, and Tommy Frederick, of Frederick, Co.; three great-grandchildren: Jayme, Slade, and Grayson; and several other relatives and friends.

Survivors include: her husband, Robert, Logan; one daughter, Angela, and her significant other, John, Eckley, Colorado; three grandchildren: Nathalia, and her husband, Coy Leggett, Logan; Lilhiana Cruz, Charleston, South Carolina; and Nathaniel Cruz, Logan; three sisters: Charlene, and her husband, Erwin Panzer, Florida; Tammy Weaver and Janice Truman both of Arizona; one brother, Randy Weaver of Arizona; four brothers-in-law: Ronny Frederick, Salina, Donny Frederick, Hill City, Jim, and wife, Laura Frederick, Sylvan Grove, and Tommy Frederick, of Frederick, Co.; three great-grandchildren: Jayme, Slade, and Grayson; and several other relatives and friends.A Memorial Service will be held Tuesday, July 9, 2024, 11:00 A.M., at Stinemetz Funeral Home, Hill City, Kansas. Mary Lou (Weaver) Frederick

Augustine (Gus) M. Zerr at the age of 97 of Quinter passed away Monday, July 1st, 2024, at Gove County Medical Center, Quinter, Kansas.

He was born April 24th, 1927, on a family farm, southwest of Park, Kansas to Christopher and Barbara Zerr. He was baptized at Sacred Heart Church, Park, Kansas.

In 1931, his parents moved the family to a farm six miles south of Park. This was his home until he moved to Quinter, Kansas in 1987.

He went to Spring Creek Country School, and then went on to Park Rural High School. After graduation, he was called to serve in the United States Army Ordnance Corps at Aberdeen Proving Ground in Aberdeen, Maryland. After returning home in 1947, he went to school at Fort Hays College, in Kansas, and then on to Regis College in Denver, Colorado. He was needed back home to help on the farm, so he returned home and started farming.

On May 1st, 1951, he married Phyllis Jean Racette at Immaculate Conception Church, Grinnell, Kansas. They were married 73 years.

He was a lifelong farmer and rancher. He also was a Board Member for USD #292 when they were building the Unified Wheatland High School, a long time Board Member of the Gove County Hospital, First National Bank, and Gove County Rural Development.

Augustine (Gus) was a very knowledgeable man that shared his wisdom freely whenever asked. He loved going to the sale barn to buy cattle and visit with his friends. He found joy driving around in the country to look at the cattle and to check on the crops. (wheat ~ corn ~ milo ~ whatever was growing).

He so enjoyed his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Peter, two children, Belinda and Timothy, one grandchild, Jamie Windholz, and one great grandchild, Felicity Zerr.

Rylan John Whitmer, of Wilson, KS, passed away on June 29, 2024, in Salina, KS, at the age of 22. He was born in Hays, KS on October 11, 2001, and adopted at age four to Terry and Debbie (Florian) Whitmer in Ellsworth, KS.

After graduating from Sowers Alternative School in Wichita in 2020, Rylan worked at Five Guys in Salina for awhile and helped many friends and family with various construction jobs. When he was younger, he worked at Grandma’s Soda Shop in Wilson. He was an avid Denver Broncos fan and very rarely missed a game on TV. He loved to go fishing with Grandpa - and Grandma when she would tag along. Rylan was a good friend to everyone. His idea that “friends don’t snitch on friends” landed him in trouble too many times!

Rylan is survived by his parents, Terry and Debbie Whitmer; brothers, Timothy Whitmer of Kansas City, KS, Bryson Parson of Ellis, KS, Cristian Weilert of Hays, KS, and Jesse Whitmer of Russell, KS; sisters, Tammy Endsley of Wilson and Tiffny Whitmer of Wilson; and many cousins.

Preceding Rylan in death is his brother-in-law, Gary Endsley.

A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, July 5, 2024, at 10AM the United Methodist Church in Wilson. Visitation will be on Thursday 5-6:30PM at the church.

Randall E. Sellers, age 71, died, at his home, in rural WaKeeney, Kansas on June 25, 2024. &nbsp;He was born on February 12, 1953, in Hays, Kansas the son of Douglas and Gladys (Schemm) Sellers.

Randy was a 1971 graduate of Centerville High School in Centerville, Ohio, and studied Mechanical Drafting at ITT Technical Institute. He worked for many years at Roush Performance in Livonia, Michigan as a machine operator cutting and designing metal dyes until he retired in 2015.

Randy is survived by his sons, Christopher Sellers and his wife, Ashley, of Olathe, Kansas and John Sellers and his wife, Autumn, of Howell, Michigan; his three daughters, Angela Sellers, Indianapolis, Indiana, Ashley Sellers and her fiancé, Ryan Thomas of Indianapolis, and Danielle Berry and her husband, Jace, of Howell, Michigan; two grandchildren, Gwyndolyn and Nathan Sellers and one on the way; and one brother, Mike Sellers and his wife, Betty of Miamisburg, Ohio.

Memorial services will be held at Schmitt Funeral Home, WaKeeney, Kansas, on July 9th, 2024, at 10:30 a.m.

Randall E. Sellers

Sharon Kay Patterson, age 80, died on June 28, 2024, at the Swedish Medical Center, Englewood, Colorado. &nbsp;She was born on June 2, 1944, in rural Trego County, Kansas the daughter of Lawrence and Elba (Ross) Berry.

Sharon married Theodore Patterson on March 10, 1960, in Shawnee, Oklahoma. Together, they raised their four sons in Quinter. Sharon worked for her parents in the family restaurant in Quinter and she was also well known as the lunch lady in the Quinter High School. &nbsp;She later worked as a custodian for the Quinter Brethren Church and Golden Plains Credit Union. &nbsp;She was a member of the Quinter United Methodist Church and a former Ladies Auxiliary President of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Arie #3774, WaKeeney. &nbsp;Her favorite pastime was bowling in local leagues and state bowling tournaments, but she loved to watch her boys’ and her grandchildren’s athletic events and spend time with family and going on family vacations. &nbsp;Sharon will be greatly missed by her family and many friends.

Sharon is survived by her husband, Ted and her four sons, Kevin (Deb) Patterson of Scottsbluff, NE, granddaughter, Kayla (Jon) Rehnberg, great-grandchildren Addison and Kennedy and grandson, Miles (Amanda) Patterson, great grandchildren, Kaidyn, Kaleb, and Max; Keith (Susan) Patterson of Sterling, KS, grandson, Brett (Estefania) Patterson and great-grandson Santiago, grandson, Bryant (Katie) Patterson, great-grandchildren, Evelyn and Isabelle; Theodore “Butch” (Rachelle) Patterson, Jr. of Hoyt, KS, granddaughter, Whitney (Nathan) Decker, great-grandchildren, Cevin, Tevin, Teyla, Jaxon, and Chace, granddaughter, Christina (Matt) Henry, great grandchildren, Hudson and Kason, and grandson, Kyle (Emma) Patterson; Randy (Nike) Patterson of Quinter, KS, granddaughter, Allyson (Zach) Blurton, great-grandchildren, Zannah and Acelyn; and her extended family from Durango, Mexico, the Dominguez family: Rafael, Chuy, Gabby, Juan Carlos, Alfredo, Brenda, and Juan, whom she considered her other children. &nbsp;Ted and Sharon hosted the family while they lived in Quinter. &nbsp;She is also survived by numerous Nieces and Nephews. She cherished their close relationships and frequent visits.

She is preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Audine (Dale) Richards, Donna (Jim) Dugan, Carol (Gary) Zerr, and her brother, Larry (Reva) Berry.

Memorial Contributions may be given to the Quinter Ambulance Service.

Inurnment in the Baker Township cemetery will take place at a later date.
