
Lynnette “Lynnie” Eileen Bishop-Chard passed away on May 15, 2025, at her home in Palco, KS, at the age of 68. She was born on July 12, 1956, to Carl A. and Lois Ruth (Abitz) Bishop in Crete, Nebraska. She was married on March 11, 2000, to Randy Lee Chard in Hill City, Kansas.
She was born in Crete, Nebraska and raised in Salina, Kansas. Lynnie graduated from Salina South High School in 1974. She later became a proud and active member of the Lutheran Association in Hill City, Kansas, where she found fellowship and strength in her faith.
Lynnie had a compassionate heart and dedicated much of her life to caring for others. She worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), an x-ray technician, and served as the manager of Cookies Liquor—where she brought her strong work ethic, humor, and warmth to all who knew her.
A lover of animals and the simple joys in life, Lynnie found happiness in the company of black and white cows, her beloved dogs and cats, and in tending her garden. She enjoyed fishing on quiet afternoons and sharing drinks and laughter with her friends.
Lynnie’s generous spirit, love for nature, and quick wit will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Lynnie is survived by her husband, Randy Chard, of Palco, Kansas; daughter, Shawna Scates, of Salina, Kansas; step-daughter, Billie Covington, of Phillipsburg, Kansas; sister, Susan (Matt) Schindler; brothers-in-law, Dave (Sally) Chard of Wichita, Kansas, Rod (Carrie) Chard of Plainville, Kansas, Garry “Bub” (Sandy) Chard of Zurich, Kansas, Rocky Brown of Derby, Kansas; sister-in-law, Jan Ward of Kansas City, Missouri; eight grandchildren, Weston, Zach (Elizabeth), Dalton, Kendra (Raymond), Megan (Wyatt) Thomas, Ruthie and Lucie Voss; and great-granddaughter, Vivian is on the way.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Janet K. Bishop-Brown, grandparents and son-in-law, Shane Scates.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 31, 2025, at 11:00AM, at First Lutheran Church 705 S Jefferson in Plainville.
