Charles Henry Huelsmann, 86, of Grinnell, died Wednesday, May 28, 2025. He was born September 21, 1938, in Oakley, KS, to Henry and Louise (Baalman) Huelsmann. Charlie graduated from Grinnell High School and went on to serve in the United States Army. He spent his career working for the Grinnell schools as a custodian and bus driver and was a dedicated member of the alumni.

Charlie married Anita Gormley on April 20, 1979, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Grinnell. They loved to travel and spend time with family and friends. Charlie could often be found driving around town and the surrounding area. This was his way of keeping in touch with people. He was very community oriented and enjoyed taking part in the Grinnell After Harvest Fest, golfing at the Cow Paddy Golf Course, working with the local veterans’ groups and caring for the Immaculate Conception Cemetery. 

Charlie was preceded in death by his parents, wife Anita and siblings, Frank, John, Loyola Moos, Mildred Thummel, Floralee Rumback, Edwin, Bernard, Aloysius, Luetta Robben, Donna Marie Smith. He is survived by his sister Donna Lee McGuire, sisters-in-law, Judy (Roger) Hartman and Bonnie Huelsmann, and numerous nieces and nephews. 

Visitation is at 9:30 a.m., with a Rosary at 10:00 a.m. and Funeral Service at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 4, 2025, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Grinnell, with burial in the church cemetery.
