Dorothy Lucille Yowell, age 94, of 
Mesquite, Texas, formerly of Ellis, Kansas, passed away November 16, 2021,&nbsp; in Mesquite. She was born May 20, 1927, in Hays, Kansas, to Nicholas and 
Anna Heroneme. On January 15, 1946, she married Clyde Yowell in Ellis. He
 preceded her in death on October 24, 1994.

Dorothy was a farm wife and also worked
 at Travenol in Hays for several years. She had been a member of St. 
Mary's Catholic Church in Ellis and St. Jerome Catholic Church in 
Phoenix, Arizona.&nbsp; She spent many years volunteering at the Society of 
St. Vincent de Paul in Phoenix. She was a beloved mother, grandmother 
and great grandmother.

Those left to cherish her memory are 
her daughters, Victoria Larson and Claudia Schroer; a son, Paul Yowell; 
grandchildren, Rich Wellbrock, Monica Hafif, Brook Schroer, Nathan 
Yowell, Sarah Williams and Kelsey Yowell; great grandchildren, Griffin 
Wellbrock, Madeline Wellbrock, Jack Hafif, Freida Hafif, Lillian 
Schroer, Brenden Schroer, Jackson Williams and Addison Williams, as well
 as numerous extended family and friends who will miss her dearly.

Memorial services will be 10:00 AM with
 visitation 9:00 AM until service time on Saturday, January 8, 2022 at 
Brock's-Keithley Funeral Chapel and Crematory 2509 Vine Hays, KS 67601.

Michael B. Packard, 70, of Oakley passed away Wednesday, December 29, 
2021. He was born on March 31, 1951, in Oakley, Kansas to Floyd and 
Maxine (Bland) Packard. Mike graduated from Oakley High School in 1969 
He then graduated from the N.W. Kansas Vo-Tech School in Goodland, 
Kansas with an architectural drafting degree in 1971 and the Kansas Law 
Enforcement Training Center, in Yoder, Kansas, in 1977. He was employed 
by the Oakley Police Dept., worked on multiple local farms, and was an 
over-the-road truck driver. 
Mike’s hobbies included riding horses, bull-riding, spending time with 
his grandchildren, shooting guns, and hunting. He was a lifetime member 
of the North American Hunting Club. 
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Larry and Randy. 
Mike is survived by his children Cheree Swaney (Benny Berry), Nolan 
Packard (Amara), Kerry Packard, and Kyle Packard; sister Marlene Teeter 
(Mike); brother Terry Packard (Joni); Uncle Roger Fagan (Dana); eight 
grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. 
A Graveside Service will be held on Wednesday, January 5, 2022, at 2:00 
pm at the Gove Cemetery in Gove, Kansas. Memorials may be made to the

Michael Burdell Packard

Roma Joyce (Selby) Tuttle went home to her Lord Jesus on December 27th,
 2021 at Gove County Medical Center Long Term Care, Quinter, KS, at the 
age of 94. She was born April 29, 1927, in Utica KS, to Forest Selby and
 Nellie (Simmons, Selby) Meier and spent her early childhood on her 
Grandfather Simmons’s farm near the Smoky Hill River.

One of her childhood memories was walking two miles to and from a 
one-room schoolhouse (Sunnyside School District #47) with her mother, 
who was also her teacher. During the winter, she and her siblings 
(Virginia, Evelyn, and Keith) would slide or roll down the snow-ridden 
draws on the way to school. Once they arrived at the school, they would 
then have to load the old pot-bellied stove with coal and get the fire 
burning to warm up the schoolhouse before the other students arrived. 
The school was also used for church services, where Roma would sing and 
play the piano. Another childhood memory was going on long walks through
 the pastures with her Aunt Mary (Simmons) Carmichael to behold the 
beauty of all the spring wildflowers. As this was long before phone 
service, whenever anyone went somewhere, they were to write a note on 
the kitchen blackboard for all to see.

After graduating from Quinter High School in 1945, she began her 
career with Bank of Wichita as a typist and stenographer. She married 
Charles H. Tuttle on July 6, 1946, at the home of Rev. Paul Brandt, 
pastor of the Church of the Brethren. Charles and Roma had three sons; 
Steven, Bradley, and Kent. Roma was a stay-at-home mother until her boys
 were in school. She then worked a variety of jobs in Quinter, KS which 
included the First National Bank and Flex King Corporation.

Roma was a member of the Church of the Brethren with her life 
revolving around family, friends, and faith. Early in her life, she 
cultivated a daily habit of worshipping Jesus Christ on her piano and 
reading the Bible. She enjoyed her ongoing fellowship with the Gyne 
Fealti Club, Historical Society, quilting, and church choir at the 
Church of the Brethren. She also enjoyed cooking roast beef every Sunday
 for members of her church to enjoy in her home. But, she is most famous
 for her mouth-watering, quick disappearing Divinity… that was divine to
 the taste!

Survivors include two sons, Steven Tuttle of Fairhope, AL and Bradley
 (Juneal) Tuttle of Fort Collins, CO; seven grandchildren, Michelle 
(Peter) Swartz of Gilbert, AZ, Christine (Cameron) Matthie, of Fort 
Collins, CO, Paul (Stacy) Tuttle of Marlton, NJ, Christopher Hunter, 
Jersey City, NJ, John (Lauren) Tuttle of Philadelphia, PA, Amanda (Tom) 
King, of Fairhope, AL, Joshua (Lisa) Tuttle of Sewell, NJ; and 15 
great-grandchildren, Camille Swartz, Kyle (Rachel) Swartz, Clayton 
Matthie, Conner (Brooke) Matthie, Carly King, Nikolas Tuttle, Allie 
Blankenship, Dominic King, Maya Hunter, Jake Hunter, Ava Tuttle, Sophia 
Tuttle, Michael Tuttle, Julian Tuttle, and Jordan Tuttle.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, January 8th,
 2022, at the Church of the Brethren, Quinter, KS, with Pastor Keith 
Funk officiating. Burial will be in the Baker Township Cemetery.

Joyce Donovan, age 83, passed away on Monday, December 27, 2021, at 
her home in Scott City, Kansas.&nbsp; She was born on August 3, 1938, in 
Hoisington, Kansas, the daughter of Joseph Henry and Arvena Miller 
Laudick.&nbsp; A resident of Scott City, Kansas since 1989 moving from 
Oakley, Kansas, she was a Medical Lab Technician.

She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Scott County Senior Center both of Scott City, Kansas.

On June 15, 1954, she married Carl D. Donovan in Fort Leonard Wood, 
Missouri.&nbsp; He passed away on March 15, 1999, in Scott City, Kansas.

Survivors include her One Son - Dallas &amp; Melanie Donovan of 
Abbeville, Louisiana, Three Daughters - Penny &amp; Mike Rajewski of 
Lake Charles, Louisiana, Cindy &amp; Denis Coe of Bakersfield, 
California, Carla &amp; Lance Schroeder of Raymond, Nebraska, Fifteen 
Grandchildren, ThirtyThree Great Grandchildren and Four Great Great 
Grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her Parents, Husband, One Son - Mike Donovan, and Two Brothers - Walter Laudick, Leslie Laudick.

Annabelle Feltman, age 88, passed away on Monday, December 27, 2021,&nbsp; at the Wichita County Health Center in Leoti, Kansas. She was born on 
May 16, 1933, to Alice Morse (nee DeWitt) in Sibley, Iowa. She had been a
 resident of Leoti for the past four years since moving from Fairmount, 
Minnesota. Annabelle was a caregiver in various settings including 
hospitals, nursing homes, and through Hospice care.

Annabelle was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Sibley, Iowa.

On March 9, 1948, Annabelle married Harvey Feltman in Worthington, 
Minnesota. Harvey passed away on January 13, 1998, in Worthington, 
Minnesota.

Survivors include her children; Elaine Rehnelt of Leoti, Kansas, 
Brenda Erving of Fairmount, Minnesota, Larry &amp; Mary Feltman of 
Welcome, Minnesota, and Sandy &amp; Voris Spittle of Fula, Minnesota,her
 siblings; Richard &amp; Carolyne Morse of Siren, Wisconsin, and Joyce 
&amp; Red Anderson of Siren, Wisconsin, eighteen grandchildren, forty 
Great-Grandchildren, and 1 Great-great-granddaughter.

Annabelle was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, one 
daughter - Vonnie, and three brothers; Herald David, Duane, and Kenny.

There are no services planned. Annabelle will be laid to rest with her husband in Worthington, Minnesota.

 Clarke was born July 19, 1950, in Phillipsburg, KS, the son of Donald 
Eugene and Roma Kathleen (Williams) Timmons.&nbsp; On April 22, 1984, he 
married Nancy Horton in Phillipsburg, KS.&nbsp; To this union they were 
blessed with two children, Jesse and Destry. He was preceded 
in death by his parents, four brothers, Stevie, Jay Don, Johnny Lee and 
Christy Timmons, and a sister Rhonda Smith-Timmons. Clarke is
 survived by his wife Nancy Timmons of Smith Center; two sons, Seth 
Timmons and Jesse Timmons; a daughter, Destry Timmons; three sisters, 
Starlyn &nbsp;Coupland and husband Paul, Roe Jene Timmons and Angela Timmons;

Aleen Loraine Bitter, 88, died December 29, 2021, in her husband’s 
loving arms, at her home in Great Bend. She was born March 9, 1933, in 
Hoisington, the daughter of Theobald “Ted” and Martha (Radke) Nuss.&nbsp; 
Aleen graduated from Hoisington High School in 1951.

On June 15, 1952, she married Elmer E. Bitter at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Susank, Kansas.

Aleen was a lifetime Barton County resident, working as a legal 
secretary. She worked for Lee Turner, and Jerry Griffith and then later 
for the County Attorney’s Office retiring after 20 plus years.&nbsp; She was a
 member of Concordia Lutheran Church and the Lutheran Women’s Missionary
 League.

Survivors include; her husband of 69 years, Elmer E. Bitter of the 
home; son, Mark Bitter and wife Chris of Great Bend; daughter, Rhonda 
Bitter of Norman, Oklahoma; sister-in-law, Denise Bitter of Omaha, 
Nebraska; four grandchildren, Cori Miller, Lacey Bonine, Klint Bitter, 
and Jeremy Brewer; and five great grandchildren, Cora, Brynn, and Ellie 
Bitter, and Madalyn and Alexander Bonine.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother-in-law, Glenn Ray Bitter.

Visitation will be Sunday 1 to 7 p.m., with family to greet friends from 6 to 7 p.m., at the funeral home.

Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, January 3, 2022, at

Carolyn Marie Devine, 70, passed away December 30, 2021, at Salina 
Regional Health Center. She was born on August 18, 1951, at Great Bend, 
to Robert &amp; Mary (Lacy) VonFeldt. She married George Devine on March
 16, 1974 at Great Bend.&nbsp;

A lifetime Barton County resident, Carolyn was the owner and head 
cook at Mom’s Bar &amp; Grill in Seward. She was a member of Prince of 
Peace Parish at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Great Bend and St. 
Francis Xavier Church in Seward. She loved to take care of her family 
and friends, whether it be cooking for them, helping or just loving 
them. Her pride and joy were her two grandchildren, Ella and Ted.

Survivors include, her husband George Devine, and sons, Christopher 
Devine and Thomas “Lee” Devine and wife Hether, all of Great Bend; a 
brother, Neil VonFeldt of Great Bend; two sisters, Gail VonFeldt of 
Emporia and Brenda VonFeldt of Tex.; two grandchildren, Ella Marie 
Devine and Thomas Edwin “Ted” Devine; numerous nieces and nephews; and 
many other family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her 
parents; a brother, Michael VonFeldt; and two sisters, Mary Ann Weighous
 and Nancy Zrubek.

Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, January

Terry Wayne Young, 78, passed away on December 28, 2021, at his home 
in Great Bend, Kansas. He was born on October 27, 1943 at Celina, Ohio, 
to Russell &amp; Mable (Parks) Young. On August 26, 1973, he married 
Alice Paxton at Durango, Colorado.

A long-time Great Bend resident, Terry was the manager for the job 
service centers for the State of Kansas in Great Bend, Hutchinson and 
Newton until he retired in 2006. Terry was also a veteran, serving as a 
sergeant in the Air Force during the Vietnam War. He was a past 
department commander for the D.A.V. in 2013. Terry was an avid sports 
fan, specifically cheering on the Broncos and Ohio State Buckeyes. He 
enjoyed playing golf and was a lifetime hunter, picking up pheasant 
hunting when he moved to Kansas.

Survivors include, his wife Alice Young of the home; a brother, Altas
 Knapp and wife Teresa of Sidney, Ohio; sisters, Candy Knapp of Van 
Wert, Ohio, Laura Bricker of Greenville, Ohio, and Lahoma Frederick of 
South Carolina; nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death 
by his parents.

There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place. Funeral 
service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, January 7, 2022, at Bryant 
Funeral Home with Chaplain Jeffrey Owen presiding. Internment will 
follow at Great Bend Cemetery North. Memorials can be made to the D.A.V.

Blanche Marie Robinson, 86, passed away December 27, 2021, at 
Medicalodges of Great Bend. She was born on June 26, 1935, at Abilene, 
to Willie &amp; Blanche (Patterson) Jones. She married Donald Ray 
Robinson, Sr. on July 8, 1973, at Great Bend.&nbsp; He died in April 1997.

Blanche was a current Great Bend resident who worked in housekeeping 
and food service for many years. She was a member of First Baptist 
Church in Great Bend.

Survivors include, two sons, Anthony Robinson and Donald Ray Robinson
 Jr. both of Great Bend; three daughters, Blanche Perry and Nancy 
Robinson both of Dallas, Tex., and Christine Robinson of Cincinnati, OH;
 eight grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren. She was preceded in
 death by her parents; her husband, Donald Robinson Sr.; and several 
brothers and sisters.

Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday,

Boyd M. Bland, 75, of Gove, Kansas, passed away on December 28, 2021. &nbsp; Boyd was born in Hays, Kansas, on October 3, 1946, to Kenneth C. and Elsie Mae (Tindal) Bland.

Boyd graduated from Gove Rural High School in 1964.&nbsp; He attended Asbury College in Wilmore, Kentucky, before graduating from Fort Hays State University.&nbsp;

Boyd married Karen Ann Herl on September 12, 1972.&nbsp; The couple made their home near Gove for their 49 years of marriage. &nbsp;

Boyd was a 4th generation Gove County farmer and stockman.&nbsp; He partnered with his father in 1968 to form Bland Custom Harvesting, an endeavor he took great personal pride in for more than 30 years.&nbsp; The individuals he harvested wheat, corn, and milo for started as customers but became lifelong friends.&nbsp;

In 1976 he achieved one of his childhood dreams by earning his private pilot’s license.&nbsp; He thoroughly enjoyed every chance he got to take up his Cessna Skyhawk – N12247.

Boyd is survived by his wife, Karen; two daughters Jennifer (Jon) Novak of Oketo, Kansas, and Jessica (Dennis) Ferguson of Hampton, Nebraska; a son Jamie (Misty) Bland of Gove; sister Barbara (Darrell) Zimmerman of Mulvane, Kansas.&nbsp; He is also survived by eight grandchildren in whom he took great delight:&nbsp; Shayla and Brandon Novak, Grant, Lofton, and Kenley Ferguson, Haelie, Auston, and Kelsie Bland. &nbsp;

He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant son, Boyd M. Bland, Jr.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM, Monday, January 3, 2022, at Gove Community Bible Church, with Pastor Chris Thomas officiating. Burial will follow at Gove Cemetery, with lunch served at the church fellowship hall immediately after.

Robert "Bob" Robben, age 61, of Rossville, KS, died December 29, 2021. He was born December 29, 1960, to Betty and Jerome Robben, of Angelus, Kansas. He graduated from Grinnell High School in 1979. Following his graduation, he continued farming operations with his father on a family farm near Angelus, Kansas. He was a member of the Angelus Knights of Columbus and had served as Grand Knight.&nbsp;

Robert was preceded in death by his mother and father Betty and Jerome Robben.

Glenda Ann Knapp, age 79, of Hays, Kansas, passed away Thursday, December 23, 2021, at Hays Medical Center. She was born June 2, 1942, in Hays to Isidore and Clara (Braun) Binder. She was a graduate of Hays High School. On August 12, 1968, she married Doran "Corky" Knapp in Hays. He preceded her in death February 15, 2020. Glenda was a Daycare provider in Hays for 40 years. Aside from enjoying the children she cared for Glenda enjoyed cooking, baking, crossword and word search puzzles. She was a member of St. Nicholas of Myra Church.  M. "Bill" Brown, age 93, of Osawatomie, Kansas, formerly of Bazine, 
Kansas, passed away on Wednesday, December 29, 2021, at Overland Park

February 29, 1928, in McCracken, Kansas, the son of Melvin Charles and 
Permelia S. (Thompson) Brown. Bill joined the U.S. Army during the 
Korean Conflict in 1951 and served his tour in Germany. Bill 
married Wilda Vee Hutchinson and this union was blessed with two sons, 
she preceded him in death. He married Valdah G. Kuehn and was blessed 
with one son, she also preceded him. He then married Judy Creighton. 
 He was preceded in death by his parents, Melvin and Permelia Brown; one
 sister, Wanda Brown; four brothers, Malcom Brown, Norval Brown, Joe 
Brown, and Ronald Brown. Bill is survived by his wife Judy 
Brown, of the home; three sons, Tim Brown of Ozark, Missouri; Randy 
Brown and wife Dee of Destin, Florida; Vyrl Brown of Hays, Kansas; nine 
grandchildren, Shane Brown, Justin Brown, Cassie Brown, Autumn Brown,

William M. 'Bill' Brown

Leon Robert Ricke, age 77, of Hays, Kansas passed away December 27,2021 at Wheatlands Health Care Center. Leon was born January 28,1944 in Medicine Lodge, Kansas to Seraphine and Beatrice (Dick) Ricke. He grew up in a large family outside of Medicine Lodge, KS with eight brothers and one sister. In 1960 his family moved to Willowdale, KS.&nbsp; He was a 1963 graduate of Zenda High School. Leon went on to play football at Pratt County College. On September 11, 1965 he was united in marriage to Colleen White, and they were married for 56 years. They moved to Hays in 1966 where Leon went on to earn an Industrial Arts Degree from Fort Hays State University. Leon was owner/operator of Ricke’s Carpet Service for over 40 years. He took great pride in his work as a flooring specialist, and he cherished the good friends he made over the years while working at his profession. He never knew a stranger and would strike up a conversation with anyone he met. He was a kind and gentle man, who was an exemplary role model for his children. Family was everything to Leon. He loved playing golf with Mike, backpacking with Brad, and attending K-State football games with Shelly.&nbsp; He was so proud of all of his children and grandchildren. Survivors include his wife Colleen of Hays. His sons: Michael Ricke and his wife Kathy of Valparaiso, IN, Bradley Ricke and his wife Mandy of Hays, and a daughter Shelly Moeckel and her husband Guy of Hays, eight grandchildren: Madison Ricke, Bryant Ricke, Sierra Ricke, Emily Ricke, Molly Ricke, Alexa Moeckel, Logan Moeckel, and Braeden Moeckel. Lawrence “Larry” John Kuhlman, 70, of Oakley, died Sunday, December 19, 
2021. He was born September 5, 1951, in Larned, KS, to Henry and Mildred
 (Brenner) Kuhlman. 

Larry graduated from Oakley High School in 1969 and 
then studied diesel mechanics at the Northwest Kansas Area Vocational 
Technical School in Goodland for two years. He worked for a farmer in 
Goodland, before moving back to Oakley to start his own farm. 

On January
 29, 1972, Larry married Nancy Seele, in Oakley. To this union, two sons
 were born. Larry served on numerous local boards. In his free-time he 
enjoyed tinkering on his old John Deere tractor, fishing with his good 
buddy Larry Bley and attending his grandkids sporting events. Larry was a
 member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus and 
Marked Men. 
Larry was preceded in death by his father Henry; son Todd Kuhlman; grandson Adam Kuhlman and brother Vernie Kuhlman. 
He is survived by his wife Nancy; son Tony (April) Kuhlman; mother 
Mildred Kuhlman; brothers, Marion (Myrt), Bill (Albie), Ron (Raye), Bob 
(Sherri), John (Missy), and Ken (Karen); sister Roseann (Bob) Blagg;

Alfred Eugene Slusher

Clara Belle (Vernon) Russ was born on June 4, 1934, in Norcatur, Kansas, to 
Alva Guy and Adella Mae (Deeter) Vernon. She went to her eternal home on
 December 17, 2021, at 1:18 a.m. She was 87 years old.
 Clara grew up near Oberlin, KS and attended Vallonia School where 
she met Richard Russ. They were united in marriage on August 3, 1954. 
Together they had seven children.
 For many years Clara drove a school bus for U.S.D. 294 in Oberlin, 
Kansas. She and Richard often worked side-by-side doing roofing and 
construction, farming, and milking their dairy cows. Most importantly, 
they raised their children together.
 Clara’s hobbies included painting portraits and lan 
 
 dscapes, woodwork and carving and gardening and landscaping in her
 yard. Clara loved sharing her garden produce with others in the 
community. She was an active member of the United Church of Oberlin. She
 was also a member of the Gideons.
 Clara is preceded in death by her parents, Alva Guy and Adella Mae 
(Deeter) Vernon, her husband, Charles Richard Russ. She leaves behind:
