Kay Ree Johnson

Kay Ree Johnson, 82, passed away peacefully surrounded by family February 18, 2022, at Via Christi St. Francis Regional Medical Center, Wichita.  She was born January 7, 1940, in Hoisington, to David and Lena (Hester) Davis.  Kay married Larry Dean Johnson Jan. 30, 1958, in Hoisington.  He survives.

Kay, a lifetime resident of Barton County, most recently worked in customer service for Centel and previously worked at Triangle Rexall Drug.  She was a member of First United Methodist Church and was a faithful volunteer for Meals on Wheels and helped with BINGO at Great Bend Health and Rehabilitation.  She enjoyed cooking, birdwatching, fishing, gardening and time spent with family, being committed to making her regular phone calls to her children and grandchildren.

Survivors include husband, Larry of the home; three children, Douglas Johnson of Tulsa, Okla., Kim Schneweis and husband Doug of Shawnee, and David Johnson and wife Dawn of Great Bend; one brother, Albert Davis of Hoisington; seven grandchildren, Cassidy Johnson, Dirk Johnson, Whitley Johnson, Abby Schneweis, Mark Schneweis, Kaytlyn Johnson and Brandon Johnson; and 2 great grandchildren and one to arrive in August.

She was preceded in death by six brothers, Wayne Davis, Arnold Davis, Richard Davis, Evan Davis, Emerson Davis and Russell Davis; and one sister, Geneva Davis.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, February 26, 2022, at Bryant Funeral Home, with Rev. Tim Bever presiding. Interment will follow at Great Bend Cemetery, Great Bend.  Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 pm, Friday, February 25, 2022 at Bryant Funeral Home, with the family receiving friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. 

Memorials may be given to Meals on Wheels, in care of Bryant Funeral Home.
